> It hasn't really taken off. Listed in 175 storefronts and localized in 5 languages, it gets a few downloads a day on the Utilities Top Free chart of small countries and reaches the top 20. That's why it looks like it's charting in many stores. Real volume is a fraction of the leading competitors, and downloads mostly come from store search in TV-heavy countries like the US, Mexico and South Africa.

# #6 in Cayman Islands, #88 in US: how a TV remote app ended up charting in 122 stores

**What it is** An iPhone Wi-Fi universal TV remote from a small studio in Andorra. Free to download, with in-app Premium at $6.99 / $39.99, and ads.

**Why it's charting** It isn't really taking off. It's listed in 175 stores and localized into 5 languages, and a few downloads a day is enough to reach the top 20 of the Utilities Top Free chart in small countries. That's why it "charts in lots of stores." Real volume is a fraction of the top competitors, and most downloads come from store search in big TV markets like the US, Mexico and South Africa.

**C** **How you could follow it** Don't copy it and build a slightly better remote. To get into this category, pick a niche (hotel TVs, big-button remotes for seniors, Roku TV only), localize across all stores into Spanish and Portuguese, and use TikTok creator videos with a "can't find my remote" skit to get volume. That's how Stick and TVRem actually grew.

Grade C: demand is steady, but this is a red ocean topped by apps with hundreds of thousands of ratings, and this app is just another late entrant. What's worth learning is the studio's volume playbook and the rivals' TikTok creator playbook. Following this app on its own isn't worth it. Few people know about it yet

TV Remote Manager is a free app that turns an iPhone into a Wi-Fi TV remote. It launched about a month and a half ago and has appeared on utility charts in 100 stores, so it looks like it's spreading worldwide. In reality it has only 361 ratings across the entire world. This piece covers why it looks popular, how big it really is, what the people actually growing in this category are doing, and whether you should get in.

### One line: "Fixed samsung shortcuts"

In 2026 Oct 19, Vertigo Studio, a small studio in Andorra, shipped version 1.3 of TV Remote Manager. The release note was a single line: "Fixed samsung shortcuts." That same day it first showed up on the charts, in 34 stores.

By Nov 6, it had appeared in 122 stores and 172 charts (AppWinners, 11-06). Its best rank was #6 in the Cayman Islands Utilities Top Free chart, #7 in North Macedonia and the Solomon Islands, and #8 in the Dominican Republic and Tonga. The same day, it ranked #88 in the US Utilities Top Free chart and #72 in the UK.

Most of the countries on these charts need very few downloads to rank high. Senegal ranked #12 with 7 ratings, Jamaica ranked #10 with 2, and North Macedonia ranked #11 with zero ratings (App Store, 11-06).

### What it is

When you open it, the app scans your home Wi-Fi, finds your TV, and after you tap and confirm on the TV, you can use your phone to control direction keys, volume, channels and power. It also does a few things most similar apps don't:

- One-tap launch of streaming apps on the TV, reading the list of apps actually installed on it instead of a fixed row of icons;

- Sleep timer built into the TV itself, so the TV still powers off on schedule even if your phone is closed. For TVs that don't support it, the store page says plainly: "app tells you honestly that it has to stay open."

- Photo frame mode and a PIN lock for kids' channels;

- Supports Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Roku-based TVs (TCL, Hisense, Sharp, etc.) and Android TV / Google TV.

Free to download, with in-app Premium at $6.99 and $39.99, and ads (US store page, 11-06). Its privacy label lists "used to track you" with identifiers and usage data, which means an ad or attribution SDK is integrated. The store page rating is 4.5.

The developer also has three other apps: phone cleaner Cleany (2026-04), Scanner PDF (2026-05) and translation app Voxa (2026-06), all subscription tools. Voxa has charted in 100 stores, with a best Top Grossing rank of #39. One tool a month, and the remote is the fourth on this production line.

### How big it really is

| Date | Total ratings, all stores | New today | Stores charted |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | 122 | – | 67 |
| 10-31 | 155 | 8 | 71 |
| 11-03 | 209 | 25 | 83 |
| 11-05 | 306 | 26 | 85 |
| 11-06 | 361 | 55 | 87 |

(App Store ratings, summed across stores)

The most ratings come from the US (71 on the store page), Mexico 27, South Africa 22, Brazil 21 and the Philippines 21. These are big countries with lots of TVs and English or Spanish speakers, and that's where the downloads actually come from. In the first week of November, daily new ratings climbed from a dozen to twenty or thirty, peaking at 55, so it is accelerating, but from a very small base. The US, UK and Canada have not reached the Top Grossing chart. A third-party model estimates US monthly revenue at about $1,000 (AppSprint, model estimate, unverified).

For comparison, EVOLLY's TV Remote, a top competitor in the category, gained 3,455 ratings in the last 7 days. TV Remote Manager gained 156.

So "charting in over a hundred stores" only means two things: it was rolled out to 175 stores and localized into 5 languages, and the Utilities Top Free bar in small countries is low. It doesn't show that demand is large.

### Where users come from

- **Blanket rollout across stores, riding small-country charts.** Confirmed. The top ranks are all small countries in Africa, the Caribbean and Central America, and those rankings in turn bring a bit of browsing traffic.

- **Store search.** Terms like "tv remote" and "samsung tv remote" get searched all the time, by people who've lost their remote and need one right now. The name is literally TV Remote, and the description is stuffed with brand names. I didn't check actual keyword rankings, so this is an inference.

- **Paid acquisition.** Unclear. It integrates a tracking SDK, so it may have run a small amount of Apple Search Ads. Meta's ad library shows nothing for it, TikTok has no video about it that I could find, and nobody has mentioned it on X in the last 60 days.

- **Bug fix.** It started charting the same day 10-19 fixed the Samsung shortcuts. Samsung is the biggest share of TVs, so the compatibility fix likely lifted ratings and retention. This is an inference.

No press coverage, and no discussion on Reddit or Hacker News.

### What the people actually growing in this category are doing

| Product | Launched | Scale (App Store, 11-06) | How they got there |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roku official remote | 2011 | About 6.7M ratings | Big company, Roku only |
| TV Remote(EVOLLY) | 2020-11 | 777k ratings, +7 in the last 3,455 days, best overall Top Grossing rank #39 | Same multi-brand + subscription model, five years early |
| Rokie / Universal TV Remote(KRAFTWERK 9) | 2015 / 2018 | 734k / 144k ratings | Old player, holds the keyword positions |
| Universal TV Remote Control*(VISARGERD) | 2024-11 | 53k ratings, best overall Top Grossing rank #32 | Also a Spanish-speaking company, also global rollout + subscription, already generating revenue |
| Stick - Remote Control For TV | 2024-01 | 55k ratings, +7 in the last 296 days | TikTok creators and UGC videos |
| TVRem(Electronic Team) | 2025-12 | 19k ratings, +7 in the last 710 days | "Free, no ads" + TikTok creators |

Several newcomers also entered in the second half of 2026, including TinyWork, Aurelis and StudioX, with ratings from 0 to over a thousand. Phone and TV makers' own remotes (Google TV, SmartThings, LG ThinQ, the iOS Control Center) are free but only work with their own brands.

The late entrants that actually broke out are Stick and TVRem, and what drove them wasn't features, it was TikTok. In Oct 26, one post captioned "How easy it is to trick him 😂" tagged Stick's video and got 149k views; in Oct 28, one about "I wanted to prank him, but he pulled out Stick and got me back" got 95k; "No Remote, No problem!!" got 88k. By Nov 4, Spanish- and Malay-speaking creators were already promoting Stick. TVRem uses a review-style pitch like "Need a TV Remote? Use Your iPhone" and "completely free," with single posts pulling over ten thousand views (TikTok, 11-06 search).

TV Remote Manager has no videos at all on this channel.

### If it were you

**My take:** This app didn't really break out. It's a slightly cleaner newcomer in a mature red ocean, and copying it gets you the same 361 ratings. The two things worth learning are Vertigo's production line (one app a month, rolled out across every store, watching which ones make the Top Grossing chart) and Stick's playbook on TikTok, using a "can't find my remote" skit to get volume.

**Who it fits:** Small studios that already have a subscription-tool template (paywall, localization and privacy pages you can reuse) and can ship one app a month, or teams that can run TikTok creator campaigns and do the math on CPI.

**Who it doesn't fit:** Solo indie developers hoping to win with a "better remote." Users can't tell from search results whose sleep timer actually runs on the TV, the top apps with hundreds of thousands of ratings hold the keyword spots, and TV makers could make their own remotes better at any time.

**How to do it:**

- Don't compete on features. Compete on one concrete use case: for example, a remote just for "hotel / Airbnb TVs," one with big buttons for older users, or Roku TVs only (TCL, Hisense, onn.). Put that single message in the name and screenshots so you rank on the niche terms.

- Roll out to every store on launch, with Spanish and Portuguese. Mexico, Brazil, South Africa and the Philippines are the second-tier big countries with the most ratings in this category, and the leading apps' localization is often weaker than their US version (inference).

- Treat compatibility as a growth lever: get Samsung, Roku-based and Google TV support stable first, ship an update for each brand fixed, and state it clearly in the release notes.

**How to get users:** TikTok creator skits: hidden remotes, prank setups, "you have a secret remote on your phone," with the app name tagged as @ account. Test creatives with cheap creators in Spanish, Portuguese, and Malay first, then move to English markets. On store search, buy some Apple Search Ads on the brand term and long tails like "remote for [brand]."

**When to get in:** No rush. Demand is steady year-round and there's no window as such. But each extra month brings more pipeline studios in, and the keywords get more expensive.

**What would show this read is wrong:** If TV Remote Manager breaks into the US Utilities top 30, or charts overall in any major market over the next month or two, that means a clean product plus broad distribution can still break into this category, and the bar is lower than this analysis assumes. If its daily new ratings drop back to single digits, this wave was just a small-country chart illusion.

Where users come from

- **Confirmed** **Global distribution + low-bar small-country Utilities charts** : listed in 175 stores, localized in EN/FR/DE/IT/ES. The top rankings are all small countries like Senegal, Uganda, Kenya, Jamaica, Cayman, and North Macedonia. Getting into the top 20 of the free Utilities chart there takes only a few downloads a day (with 7 ratings in sn it ranks #12). Big markets: US #88, UK #72.

- Inferred **Store search / ASO (high-intent terms like tv remote, remote for samsung/roku)** : the most ratings globally are in us (58), mx (27), za (22), br (21), and ph (21). These are big TV markets, English- or Spanish-speaking. The name and subtitle state the brand and function directly. FoxData files it under both Utilities and Productivity. I did not find its specific keyword rankings.

- Inferred **Possibly a small amount of Apple Search Ads or other paid acquisition** : its privacy labels list Identifiers and Usage Data under "used to track you," which means an attribution or ad SDK is integrated. But the Meta ad library (our metaads library) shows no ads from it or Vertigo as advertisers, and there are no TikTok videos for it. How much was spent can't be determined.

- **Verified** **a 10-19 version update drove the spike** : AppWinners logged it first charting 10-19 on the day it shipped v1.3 (34 store), climbing to 122 stores by 11-06; our database shows daily new ratings rising from a dozen-odd to 25–55 starting 11-03

## Why TV Remote Manager (iOS, id6745335805) got traction

**One-line verdict** : it hasn't really taken off. This is a new entrant in a red-ocean category (universal Wi-Fi TV remotes). It listed in all 175 stores, and in small countries across Africa, the Caribbean, and Central America, a few downloads a day is enough to reach the top 20 of Utilities free charts. That's why the recall data looks like "cross-market spread." In absolute terms, it has 361 ratings across all stores and 156 new ones in the last 7 days, a fraction of the leaders (EVOLLY's TV Remote added 3455 in the last 7 days). The product itself is more carefully built than its peers, but that is not why it's growing.

Which stores I looked at: I swept the full appstore library (it has records in 87 stores), then looked closely at us, mx, za, br, ph, gb, and the best-ranking small countries.

### 1. What it is

- Developer: Vertigo Studio SL (the developer name on the store is Vertigo SL, developer_id 1717595043). The website vertigosl.com says "from the heart of Andorra" and describes a small iOS studio mentioning "ad integration and monetization."

- First released 2026-09-23,2026-10-19. Latest version v1.3, with release notes "Fixed samsung shortcuts." Languages EN/FR/DE/IT/ES. Free download, in-app purchase Premium at $6.99 and $39.99 (US store page, read via Jina, 2026-11-06).

- Features: auto-discovers TVs on the local network; directional pad, volume, channels, number keys; one tap to open streaming apps on the TV (it reads which apps are actually installed on the TV); writes a sleep timer into the TV itself on supported models; photo frame; kids channel PIN lock; covers Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Roku-family, and Android TV / Google TV. The older description FoxData captured said "cast photos and videos"; it now says "photo frame" and adds a candid note that unsupported TVs will be clearly flagged.

- Privacy labels: the "used to track you" section lists Identifiers and Usage Data, which means an ad or attribution SDK is integrated.

- The same developer has 3 other apps, all subscription utilities: Cleany (phone cleaner, 2026-04), Scanner PDF (2026-05), and Voxa translation (2026-06). Voxa has charted in 100 stores, with a best Top Grossing rank of #39 (appstore library, 2026-11-06). This is a utility-app pipeline studio.

### 2. Growth data

| Date | Total ratings across stores | New today | Stores charted | Best category rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | 122 | – | 67 | 13 |
| 10-31 | 155 | 8 | 71 | 18 |
| 11-03 | 209 | 25 | 83 | 12 |
| 11-05 | 306 | 26 | 85 | 7 |
| 11-06 | 361 | 55 | 87 | 10 |

Source: appstore library app_day / data card.

- AppWinners (appwinners.eu) shows it started charting on 2026-10-19 (the day of v1.3), in 34 stores. By 11-06 it had reached 122 stores and 172 charts. Its best rank is #6 on the Cayman Islands free Utilities chart, with #7 in North Macedonia and the Solomon Islands, and #8 in the Dominican Republic and Tonga. Only 1 stores put it in the overall top 50 (Bermuda #40).

- Ratings by store (appstore library app_profile, 11-06): us 58 (Utilities free #88), mx 27 (#56), za 22 (#13), br 21 (#84), ph 21 (#27), co 15, gb 12 (#72). The top-ranking stores have single-digit ratings: sn has 7 ratings and ranks #12, jm has 2 and ranks #10, mk has 0 and ranks #11.

- Neither the US, UK, nor Canada charts Top Grossing. The AppSprint model estimates US monthly revenue at about $1K (appsprint.app, a model estimate, unverified).

**How to read these numbers** : charting in many stores doesn't mean big demand. It only means broad distribution, and small-country Utilities charts have a low bar. Its real download volume comes from the few big TV markets with the most ratings (us, mx, za, br, ph). Since 11-03, daily new ratings have grown from a dozen to 25–55, so it is genuinely accelerating, but from a very small base.

### 3. Competitors (doing the same thing)

| Product | Where | Launched | Scale (appstore library, 11-06) | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Roku Remote (Official) | Big-company official | 2011-12 | About 6.7M ratings, +38k in the last 7 days | Roku only |
| TV Remote - Universal Control(EVOLLY.APP) | iOS | 2020-11 | 63 store has 777k ratings, +3455 in the last 7 days. Best category rank #3, best overall Top Grossing rank #39. | Same model, two orders of magnitude bigger |
| Universal TV Remote(KRAFTWERK 9)/ Rokie | iOS | 2018 / 2015 | 144k / 734k ratings | Established leader, holding its keyword rankings |
| Universal TV Remote Control・(toggle apps) | iOS | 2023-06 | 127k ratings, +7 in the last 1166 days | Peers |
| Universal TV Remote Control*(VISARGERD, S.L.) | iOS | 2024-11 | 79 store with 53k ratings, best overall Top Grossing rank #32 | Same Spanish-speaking company, global distribution + subscription, already generating revenue |
| Stick - Remote Control For TV(APPSPRO) | iOS | 2024-01 | 55k ratings, +7 in the last 296 days | Heavy TikTok creator and UGC promotion |
| TVRem Universal SmartTV Remote(Electronic Team) | iOS | 2025-12 | 19k ratings, +7 in the last 710 days | Positioned as "free, no ads," with TikTok creator videos |
| New entrants from 2026: TV Remote · Smart TV Control (TinyWork, 07-01), TV Remote - Smart TV Control (Aurelis, 07-13), TV Remote for Roku + (StudioX, 10-29) | iOS | 2026 | 255 / 1014 / 0 ratings | Part of the same wave of late entrants |
| Google TV, SmartThings, LG ThinQ, iOS Control Center | Big-company features | Years | System level | Free and official, but only for its own brand |

Searching the library for names containing remote plus tv/samsung/roku/lg/fire turns up dozens of similar charting apps. This is a mature red-ocean category with new entrants arriving all the time.

### 4. Growth tactics (where users come from)

1. **Broad store distribution + small-country category charts (confirmed)** : listed in 175 stores, localized in 5 languages, with the top rankings all in small countries. In those stores, a single-digit number of daily downloads gets it into the top 20 of the free Utilities chart. Category chart positions in turn feed it some browsing exposure.

2. **Store search / ASO (inferred, unverified)** : terms like "tv remote" and "samsung tv remote" are high-intent, steady-volume searches. Its most-rated stores are all big TV markets. The name plainly says "TV Remote," and the description is packed with brand names. I did not find its specific keyword rankings.

3. **Paid acquisition (uncertain)** : the privacy labels include tracking identifiers, which suggests an attribution SDK is integrated and it may have run small Apple Search Ads buys. But the Meta ad library (metaads library, from 2026-11-01) shows no ads from it or Vertigo. Searching TikTok (TikHub) for "TV Remote Manager" returns no related videos at all; the results are creator videos for Stick, TVRem, and AnyRemote. X (x-radar, last 60 days) has zero mentions. Note: the ad libraries only track listed products, so no results doesn't mean no spend.

4. **Version update (confirmed timing)** : on 10-19 it released v1.3, fixing Samsung shortcuts, and started charting that day. The compatibility fix likely raised ratings and retention, but that is an inference.

No press coverage, no disclosed revenue, and no Reddit or HN threads about it.

### 5. Why it took off

- The demand is constant: lost remotes, broken remotes, a mess of TV brands at home. The top apps in this category add thousands of ratings every week.

- Mass distribution got it cheap placement in small-country category charts, so a new app looked like it was charting in several countries at once.

- The product is cleaner than the average: TV-side sleep timer, reading the TV's real app list, a brand coverage panel, honest copy. Most stores sit at 4.3–4.5 (us 4.5, sn 3.7).

- The studio has a ready-made subscription tool template (monetization, localization, and privacy pages are shared, with the privacy page hosted on Google Sites). Voxa shows the playbook can reach Top Grossing, and remotes are the next copy.

### 6. Differentiation

A bit, but it isn't why it grew. Feature-wise (TV-side sleep timer, photo frame, child lock, reading the real app list) and tone-wise (honestly marking unsupported brands), it is more detailed than most peers. But users arrive through category search and mass distribution, not these features. Compared with EVOLLY and KRAFTWERK it has no rating history; compared with Stick and TVRem it has no TikTok content channel.

### 7. Visibility and copycats

- Visibility: few people know about it yet. It only has pages on automated ranking sites like AppSprint, AppWinners, FoxData, Similarweb, and IndieTower. Nobody has written about it on their own initiative.

- Copycats: hardly. It is itself a follower in this category.

### 8. What to borrow

- The 'pipeline tool studio' playbook: pick a tool category with steady search demand, build a cleaner-than-average version, ship it in every store and in multiple languages, earn ratings in small-country category charts first, then see which ones reach Top Grossing and scale those. Low cost, but the ceiling depends on whether you can pay for paid acquisition afterward.

- The real growth lever in the remote category sits with the competitors: Stick and TVRem have heavy TikTok creator content on the 'lost my remote / one-tap remote' use case, with single videos at 50k to 210k views (TikHub search results).

- A research caveat: don't treat small-country category rankings or the number of stores charted as direct demand signals. Look at absolute rating growth and rankings in large markets.

### 9. Uncertain

- Conversion rates and real revenue (it has not charted in any Top Grossing list; AppSprint's roughly $1K/month is a model estimate).

- Whether it runs Apple Search Ads, and how much it spends.

- app_id 6745335805 was roughly assigned in mid-2025, but 2026-09-23 is the launch: did they reserve the ID early, or is it an older app renamed and relaunched? Not verified.

- Whether the early-November acceleration (+55 in a single day) can be sustained.
