Riko: AI CFO for Tally · NXTLVL Tech Solutions Private Limited

# 5 ratings got it into India's finance Top Grossing chart at #18: Riko didn't break out, but it shows you how to read this chart

**What it is** An AI assistant layered on Tally, the accounting software common among Indian small businesses. You ask it about your books, generate reports and chase payments in English or Hindi. It's sold as an annual fee under Tally's authorization.

**Why it looks hot** It isn't, really: the bar for India's iOS finance Top Grossing chart is low enough that a few thousand rupees in in-app purchases can reach the top 20. The #24 app on the same chart has no ratings at all. Riko's rank bounced between #6 and #18 over 178 days, matching sporadic in-app purchases.

**C** **How you could follow it** Don't build "Tally + AI" in India. Look for a country where a local accounting package holds most of the market and nobody has added AI yet. Copy the approach by layering read-only analysis on top, and sell annual plans through founder-led demos and local implementation partners and accounting firms.

Grade C: the product itself didn't break out. This niche in India already has Tally going in directly, free open-source MCP servers and a pile of similar tools. The approach and the chart-reading lesson are worth learning, but repeating it in another country means betting on the moves of channel partners and platforms, and the public data can't prove the business can scale. Few people know about it yet

Riko is an "AI CFO" layered on top of the Indian accounting software Tally: ask about your books in English, Hindi or Hinglish, and it generates reports, chases payments and reconciles accounts. In Nov 6 it ranked #18 in India's App Store finance Top Grossing chart, yet it had been live for nearly three months with only 5 ratings in total. It looks like a quiet, money-making B2B micro-product. A closer look shows the ranking is the result of a very low bar on this chart. Its real business lives on the web and in the founder's LinkedIn, and it's still small.

### Aug 18, a LinkedIn post

On Aug 18, 2026, Riko co-founder Harshvardhan Vasudeva posted on LinkedIn, opening with: "A founder doing ₹30B a year and a founder doing ₹100M said the exact same thing to me." (Original: ₹300 Cr and ₹10 Cr.)

He said he'd sat down with 1,500 SME owners and accountants over the year. The questions were always the same: why did gross margin drop this month, and who do we chase for payment first? But every new question meant the accountant had to export Excel from Tally, clean it, and build an MIS report, which took days. The post ended with a bolded "FOUNDERS ONLY" and an application link. Other posts pointed to a Calendly 15-minute demo booking. This post got 86 likes and 20 comments.

That's what Riko's acquisition looks like: not a store, not ads, but founders posting, one post and one demo call at a time.

### What it is

Tally (TallyPrime / ERP 9) is the accounting software most Indian SMEs use, with millions of installs. Riko doesn't ask users to switch software. It adds a layer on top:

- Install a 75MB connector on the Windows PC running Tally. It syncs every 5 minutes, imports two years of history on first run, and stores data in Mumbai (per turia.in's review, 10-29).

- Ask questions in chat. The store page's examples: "What's this month's profit?", "Who owes me the most, and how long overdue?", "Kitna cash bachega agle mahine?" (How much cash will be left next month?). Every number comes with its calculation and source voucher.

- Ready-made jobs: 25+ reports, monthly MIS packs, receivables aging, WhatsApp payment reminders, bank reconciliation, and turning photographed bills into voucher drafts. Anything written back to Tally needs a human to confirm it. The Business tier and up use propose-by-one, approve-by-another.

- Four entry points: web, Android, iOS, and WhatsApp. Web is the main product. The iOS and Android bundle IDs are both `co.median.*`, meaning the apps are web pages wrapped with Median.co.

Priced annually per Tally license, plus 18% GST: Basic ₹5,000 (1 users), Business ₹12,000 (3 users, marked "most chosen" on the site), Teams ₹20,000 (for CA firms, 10 users). 7-day free trial, no monthly plan (rikoai.in/pricing, 10-24). The app also lists a ₹4,999 annual plan, a ₹79 day pass, and ₹299–2,999 top-up packs.

Behind it is NXTLVL Tech Solutions, a small Mumbai company. Three co-founders handle sales, product, and operations.

### How it reached #18

First, its recent rank on India's finance Top Grossing chart (App Store India):

| Date | Finance Top Grossing rank | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | 20 | 5 |
| 10-29 | 34 | 5 |
| 10-30 | 72 | 5 |
| 10-31 | 130 | 5 |
| 11-01 | 178 | 5 |
| 11-06 | 18 | 5 |

The rating count didn't change, yet the rank dropped from 20 to 178 and then jumped back to 18. Now the neighbors on the same chart that day (11-06): #6 had 5 ratings, #13 had 5, #24 had **0 ratings** , #29 had 1, and #50 had 5.

What this means: on India's iOS finance chart, a few thousand rupees of in-app purchases over a few days can land you in the top 20. Without new purchases, you slide to the hundred-plus range. Riko's curve matches "someone occasionally buys a ₹4,999 annual plan or a few ₹79 day passes" (inference).

Other signals point the same way: the Android app has 100+ installs and 23 ratings (Google Play, 11-06) and has never charted on Play. The iOS app has two reviews, both five-star from Sep 22, written like insider comments ("Helps get real work done"). The iOS app hasn't been updated since Sep 14. Instagram has 254 followers. Nobody has mentioned it on X in nearly 90 days.

**The store channel shows neither downloads nor sustained revenue.** Public data doesn't reveal how many paying customers it has or its annual revenue.

### The need is real, but everyone can see it

The pain of owners waiting on accountants to export Excel is real, so Vasudeva's post resonating isn't surprising. The problem is that from 2025–2026, LLMs plus MCP made "talking to Tally" something anyone can build, and this lane filled up fast:

| Who | How | Versus Riko |
|---|---|---|
| Biz Analyst | A mobile Tally-reports app launched in 2016, 2,087 ratings on iOS India | Older product, no AI chat; ₹3,300 a year for 1 users, cheaper than Riko |
| Tally itself (TallyIra, Docs by Ira) | The platform builds AI directly, mainly for voucher entry and support right now | The Economic Times 10-15 reported that Tally is rewriting its core to be AI-first. Riko's Q&A and reporting features are something it will get to sooner or later. |
| The Usual Accountant | Plug Tally into your own ChatGPT or Claude, no app | Published a "vs Riko" comparison page to capture search traffic |
| TallyCopilot, open-source Tally MCP servers | Free, runs locally | Tech-savvy accountants and CAs can set it up themselves |
| LucaGPT | Turns documents and voice into Tally vouchers | Focused on entry |
| FinlyticZ, Counts, TallyLive, Tulan, TallyBridge, and others | Small "Tally on your phone" apps, many launched 8–October | India ratings 0–11, same as Riko, none took off |

No one is copying anyone. Everyone rushed in together. Riko didn't secure a unique position.

### What it got right

To be fair, Riko's approach makes sense in B2B and is worth breaking down:

- **Piggybacking on a dominant software** : no migration required. It reads and syncs, writes back only with approval, and charges annually per Tally license, so renewals follow Tally's cycle. That's a much lower barrier than tools like Zoho Books (6,072 ratings in India) that make users switch software.

- **Finishes a whole job, not just answers questions** : MIS packs, reconciliation, payment reminders, approval flows, aimed at "owner + accounting team." That's more like a product you can sell an annual subscription for than plugging Tally into a generic AI.

- **The LLM doesn't do the math** : every number is computed in SQL and traceable to a voucher. For people who handle money, this matters more than the chat itself.

- **Cheap "we have an app"** : wrapping the web product with Median gets iOS and Android at near-zero cost, buying app-store trust and an in-app purchase channel.

- **Cold start runs on people** : the founder tells the "I talked to 1,500 owners" story, backed by a free demo and Calendly. They also got a profile on turia.in (a company that builds software for CA firms), a spot on turia.in's "top 10 AI software for CA firms," and ongoing referral commissions for Tally implementation partners through rikoai.in/partners. For high-ticket B2B, these work better than ASO.

### If it were you

**One-line take** : don't go head-to-head with it in India on "Tally + AI." The platform is entering itself, and free open-source options already exist, with plenty of similar tools around. Two things are worth taking: the "layer on a local dominant accounting software" approach, and a lesson about reading charts.

**The chart lesson** : in small countries and niche categories, a Top Grossing spot can be reached with a single in-app purchase. When you see "few ratings, high chart rank," first count the ratings of the apps at #20–50 on the same chart, then check whether the rank swings by a hundred-plus places within a few days. If it does, that's noise, not signal.

**Who it suits** : a team of 1–3 with network ties in an accounting or tax community in a given country, where one person can do in-person demos and pursue channel partners. The target is a country where one local accounting software holds most of the market and has no AI of its own yet. (Which countries fit is unverified; you need to count for yourself.)

**Who it doesn't suit** : anyone counting on organic app store installs (stores don't bring customers for this kind of product), people who only want to write code and won't call owners one by one, and anyone aiming to go head-on with Tally Q&A in India.

**How to build** : start read-only and nail the three reports owners want most (who owes us, how long cash lasts, why margin changed), with every figure tracing back to a voucher. Write-back needs an approval flow. Charge annually per underlying software license. Wrap the mobile side with a shell, and don't spend effort on native apps.

**How to get customers** : copy Riko. Founders pitch the pain on LinkedIn or on platforms where local owners gather, with a 15-minute demo booking. More important is building channels through local software implementers and accounting firms, with ongoing commissions. Also pursue industry directories and reviews.

**Timing** : the window depends on when the underlying accounting software builds AI itself. Tally has announced it's coming, so that door is closing in India. In other markets, lock in customers before that software ships its own AI assistant.

**What would show this read was wrong** : (1) Riko discloses paying customer numbers or funding in the first half of 2027, showing the "layer on top" model can scale in B2B and deserves a closer look. (2) Tally ships built-in conversational Q&A and MIS features, free or bundled with the license. The space above it would then be mostly gone, and other countries could follow the same playbook.

## Riko: AI CFO for Tally (iOS id6752279548) research report

Research date: 2026-11-06. Sources: our appstore library (DuckDB on the agent-im machine, 2026-10-28 to 11-06), Apple's lookup API, the Google Play store page, Riko's website, LinkedIn, turia.in, theusualaccountant.com, Economic Times. Search via Jina.

### Bottom line

**It never really "broke out."** The recall rested on "listed for 3 months, 5 ratings, and it hit #18 on India's Finance Top Grossing chart." But that rank mostly shows that **the bar for India's iOS finance grossing chart is very low** , not that Riko is selling well. On the same day, the #24 app on that chart had only 0 ratings. Riko's own rank swung between #18 and #178 over 6 days. Given Riko's prices (annual in-app ₹4,999, day pass ₹79), the most plausible reading is **an occasional one or two in-app purchases** , with no sustained sales. The iOS app is a wrapper that turns the website into an app with Median.co (bundle id `co.median.ios.wzzjew`). Riko's real business is a web-based B2B SaaS that charges annual fees per Tally license. Its customers come from co-founders posting on LinkedIn and closing deals one demo at a time. It is still very small, and few people know about it.

### 1. What it is

- An AI analysis and action layer on top of Tally (the accounting software most used by India's small and mid-sized businesses, TallyPrime / ERP 9). Users install a 75MB connector on the Windows PC that runs Tally. Data syncs to Riko's servers in Mumbai (AWS) every 5 minutes, and the first connection imports two years of history (turia.in 2026-10-29 review).

- Users can ask about their books in English, Hindi or Hinglish, such as "who owes me the most," "what's this month's profit," or "Kitna cash bachega" (how much cash will be left). It produces 25+ reports and monthly MIS packs, does receivables aging, WhatsApp payment reminders, bank reconciliation, and OCR on photographed bills to draft vouchers. Writing data back into Tally requires a human to confirm. On Business and above, one person proposes and another approves (rikoai.in, /pricing).

- Four entry points: Web (app.rikoai.in, the main product), Android, iOS, and WhatsApp.

- Pricing (rikoai.in/pricing, page captured 2026-10-24): annual fee per Tally license, plus 18% GST. Basic ₹5,000 (1 users), Business ₹12,000 (3 users, marked "most popular" on the site), Teams ₹20,000 (3 licenses, 10 users, aimed at CA firms), Enterprise by quote. Every tier has a 7-day free trial with no card required, and there's no monthly billing. In-app purchases are a ₹4,999 annual plan, a ₹79 day pass, and ₹299–2,999 top-up packs (from the recalled data card).

- The company is NXTLVL Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd, based on Grant Road in Mumbai, and calls itself "a small team in Mumbai." Three co-founders: Bhaskara Pratap Seth (GTM), Susse Chandrasekaran (product), Harshvardhan Vasudeva (operations) (turia.in).

### 2. What the data actually shows

#### iOS (appstore library, charted only in the India store)

| Date | Finance Top Grossing chart rank | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-28 | 20 | 5 |
| 10-29 | 34 | 5 |
| 10-30 | 72 | 5 |
| 10-31 | 130 | 5 |
| 11-01 | 178 | 5 |
| 11-06 | 18 | 5 |

- The rating count has been adding 5,7 per 0 days. The only two reviews are both 2026-09-22 five-star, and the wording reads like it was written internally or by acquaintances ("Helps get real work done"…).

- **Benchmark** : on India's Finance Top Grossing chart, 2026-11-06 #6 Breakout had only 5 ratings, #13 RiZE had 5, #24 Moby had 0, #29 Crypto Signals had 1, and #50 Balance had 5 (appstore library chart_rank). So an app only needs a few thousand rupees of in-app purchases in a few days to crack the top 20, and without new revenue it drops to over a hundred. Riko fell from #20 to #178, then bounced back to #18, which fits "occasional one-off in-app purchases" exactly.

- Apple lookup: no updates since version 1.0.3,2026-09-14, with release notes reading "Minor Performance Improvements." The interface is English only. Bundle id `co.median.ios.wzzjew` marks it as a Median.co (formerly GoNative) web wrapper app.

#### Android (Google Play store page, 2026-11-06)

- Package name `co.median.android.wzzjew`, also a Median wrapper. Installs **100+** , 23 ratings, average 5.0.

- It isn't in our googleplay library, so it has never charted on any Play chart.

#### Other signals

- Instagram @rikoai.official has 254 followers (2026-11-06).

- x-radar found no results for "Riko Tally" in the past 90 days. Nobody is discussing it on X.

- The website says "26.7M Tally rows query-ready." That is the number of data rows they've processed, and it can't be converted into a customer count.

**Bottom line: the app store channel shows neither download volume nor sustained revenue. Riko is a web-first B2B product, and the mobile app is just a side entrance.**

### 3. Competitors

| Product | Where | Launched | Scale | How Riko differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Biz Analyst(Silicon Veins) | iOS / Android / desktop | 2016-10(iOS) | The leader in the India store (2,087 iOS ratings, Apple lookup 11-06) in the "Tally on your phone" category | Check Tally reports from a phone menu and enter entries, without AI chat. Riko's own comparison says Biz Analyst costs ₹3,300/year for 1 people, which is cheaper than Riko |
| Tally Solutions' own: TallyIra / Docs by Ira / TARA | Big-vendor features + iOS | TallyIra iOS 2025-04; Docs by Ira needs TallyPrime 7.1+ | TallyIra iOS has only 14 ratings, but Tally itself has millions of installs | The platform itself is going in-house, mainly on bill OCR data entry and customer support. ET 2026-10-15 reports Tally is rewriting its core to be AI-first. Riko's current "Q&A, MIS, collections" space is something Tally will likely build itself down the road. |
| The Usual Accountant | Web (MCP) | 2026-06 | Unknown | Connects Tally to ChatGPT or Claude the user already uses, instead of a separate app. It also wrote a "vs Riko" SEO comparison page. |
| TallyCopilot(Hitesh Kakkad) | Web / local | 2026 (LinkedIn post) | Unknown | Free, connects Tally to ChatGPT or Claude |
| Open-source Tally MCP servers (dhananjay1405/tally-mcp-server, arihantdaga/account-ai-for-tally, etc.) | Open source | 2025–2026 | Star counts unverified | Free and runs locally. Technical accountants or CAs can set it up themselves. |
| LucaGPT(Fastack Technologies) | Desktop / WhatsApp | Early access in 2025 | Unknown | Focuses on turning documents, voice, and text into TallyPrime vouchers. Mostly data entry. |
| FinlyticZ, Counts, Onebi Accosync, TallyLive, Tulan, TallyBridge, and others | iOS | 2024-08 to 2026-10 | India store ratings are all 0–11 | All small apps for "Tally on mobile." Like Riko, none have taken off. |
| Power BI + Tally connector | Other | — | Big-vendor tool | Requires building models and writing DAX yourself. Aimed at analysts. |
| FoundrCFOs | Web | Not verified | Unknown | Also called an "AI CFO." Connects to Tally, Zoho, and QuickBooks, plus a virtual CFO advisory service. |
| Zoho Books / Vyapar / myBillBook | iOS (adjacent category) | — | Zoho Books India store 6,072 ratings | It is itself accounting software, so users have to migrate. Riko doesn't require migration. |

**Bottom line: the "add AI to Tally" space has been crowded since 2025–2026.** The platform is building its own, there are free open-source MCPs, rival sites competing on SEO, and a pile of zero-rated small apps. Riko doesn't have a position nobody else can take.

### 4. Where users come from

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Co-founder posts on LinkedIn and does demo sales | Harshvardhan Vasudeva posts often: "FOUNDERS ONLY" free demo links with a 15-minute Calendly booking (an early-2026 post, a 2026-08-18 post). He says he has "sat down with 1,500+ MSME founders and accountants in a year." That post got 86 likes and 20 comments. | Yes |
| Implementation or channel partners (Tally implementers, CA firms) | rikoai.in/partners has three partner tracks (technology, infrastructure, implementation) with "recurring commissions" for implementation partners. It claims an "official Tally Solutions integration." | The program exists. Whether it performs and whether the "official integration" claim is true is unverified. |
| Third-party directories or reviews | turia.in (a company that builds software for CA firms) wrote a profile for 2026-10-29 and included it in "Top 10 AI Software for CA Firms." | Yes |
| Website SEO | A large set of /solutions/* pages, plus vs Biz Analyst and vs Power BI comparison pages and a blog | Yes (whether it drives traffic is unverified) |
| Instagram / YouTube Shorts | @rikoai.official has 254 followers. Shorts titled "Make Your Accountant Superhuman." | Yes, but very small volume |
| App stores | iOS 5 ratings, Play 100+ installs | Has brought in almost no users |
| Paid ads | No evidence found (the metaads library only tracks products on its list, so not finding it doesn't mean they didn't run ads) | No |

### 5. Why it "looks" like it's working, and what's actually going on

1. **Chart rankings are misleading the signal** : on India's Finance Top Grossing chart, #18–24 has 0–5 rated apps. Riko's rank bounced between 18 and 178 over 6 days, which matches sporadic one-off in-app purchases (appstore library).

2. **High ticket, closed one deal at a time** : ₹5,000–20,000 a year, priced per Tally license and deliberately set up to renew alongside the Tally license. This business closes on demos and trust. Users don't impulse-download it from a store, so few ratings alone don't prove anything, but they also can't show it's growing.

3. **The underlying need is real** : owners want to know "who owes me money" and "is there enough cash," but have to wait for the accountant to export Excel from Tally and build reports. The founder's pitch resonates on LinkedIn, but this pain point is shared across the whole category, not unique to Riko.

4. **Timing** : from 2025–2026, LLMs plus MCP made "talking to your ledger" easy to build, and Tally itself has been pushing Ira in 2026 and announced an AI rebuild (ET 2026-10-15). That timing let everyone in at once, and Riko didn't get first-mover advantage.

### 6. Differentiation

Riko's own stated differentiators:

- It's an "operations layer" rather than a "viewer": it produces MIS packs, reconciliation, collections, and proposes vouchers that get approved before being written back.

- Every number traces back to source vouchers and is computed with SQL, so the LLM doesn't do the arithmetic.

- Hindi and Hinglish support.

- WhatsApp entry point.

- One price per Tally license, covering all companies under that license.

Compared with Biz Analyst (reporting), open-source MCPs, or The Usual Accountant (connecting Tally to general-purpose AI), "does the whole job, requires approval before write-back, built for owners plus accounting teams" is more complete. But none of this **has made it take off yet** : no growth on the store side, no one discussing it on X, and only one third party has written a review. The real differentiators (approval flow, MIS work packs, multi-license coverage for CA firms) map to B2B closing efficiency, and that would need paying customer counts, which aren't visible publicly.

### 7. Visibility

**Few people know about it.** No public revenue figures, no press coverage, zero discussion on X, 254 Instagram followers. The only mentions are turia.in's profile and Top 10 list, plus rival The Usual Accountant's SEO comparison page. That comparison page shows competitors already treat it as a customer they need to win over.

### 8. Copycats

Nothing is clearly copied from a specific product. Similar products flooded in during the same window (The Usual Accountant, TallyCopilot, open-source MCPs, LucaGPT, plus small apps like TallyLive, Tulan, and TallyBridge launching 2026 8–October). It's not a case of one copying another.

### 9. What to borrow

- The "parasitic on a local accounting monopoly" play: don't make users migrate. Offer read-only sync plus approval-gated write-back, and tie pricing and renewals to the underlying software's cadence (per license, per year).

- Use a wrapper tool like Median to put a web product onto iOS and Android at low cost, gaining the trust of "having an app" and an in-app purchase channel.

- The co-founder runs a "I've talked to N business owners" pain-point narrative on LinkedIn, backed by free demos and Calendly. Suited to cold-starting a high-ticket B2B product.

- Getting listed on third-party directories (like turia, a software company for CA firms) works better than ASO in the store.

- The risk is also worth learning from: when the platform (Tally) builds AI itself, the space above it gets squeezed.

### 10. Still unclear

- Paying customers, ARR, and how many people actually use the web version: none of it is public.

- Which kind of in-app purchase drove those iOS Top Grossing jumps (a ₹4,999 annual plan, or a few ₹79 day passes): can't tell.

- Whether the "official Tally Solutions integration" is actually part of Tally's official partner or marketplace program: unverified.

- Whether the "Integrated Tally with AI agent" post on Reddit r/IndiaTax came from the Riko team: page was blocked, unverified.

- Whether they run Meta or Google ads: our ad libraries don't track it, found nothing.
