"Shazam for shopping" Stashit: a wave of Indian creator promos pushed it onto the Canada Top Grossing chart, then two weeks later it fell to #183
What it is An iPhone and Android app: when you see something you want in a video, you share it to the app, AI identifies the product, compares prices across 50 retailers for alternatives, saves it to a wishlist, and it charges a subscription.
Why it got hot It hasn't really broken out yet: in mid-October a batch of Indian women's Instagram reels hit the pain point of "no more commenting for the link", which brought a small number of subscriptions and got it onto the Shopping Top Grossing charts in low-bar markets like Canada, the Netherlands and Costa Rica. Its rank has dropped steadily since, and iOS ratings have stayed at one or two.
CHow you could follow it Don't copy the generic "recognize any product"; move the "share from menu in, AI processes, save to list" entry point to scenarios platforms won't cover (recipes, places, books/film/music) or a specific vertical, then use cheap Indian micro-creators and Western paywalls to test in two or three weeks whether anyone pays.

A team of 2 to 10 people in Mumbai built an app: you see something you want on Instagram or TikTok, tap Share and send it over. AI recognizes the product in the video, compares prices, finds cheaper alternatives, and saves it to a wishlist called Vault. In mid-October a wave of Indian girls' Instagram reels brought it some paying users, and it climbed to #19 on the Canada Shopping Top Grossing chart, then kept sliding. The pain point is real and the format works. The catch: big platforms and well-funded companies are also building this.
"Who still comments 'link' on every post?"
On Oct 17, Instagram user kashishmehta_ posted a reel captioned "@stashitai ending the 'link' epidemic," with the line "Tag someone who keeps commenting link on every post" underneath. Two days later, inshxx_birxn posted "Send this to your friends @stashitai" with 281 likes. A commenter wrote: "Finally, this clickbait behavior was starting to get ridiculous!"
"Comment 'link' and I'll DM you" is an old Instagram selling trick: creators use it to pump comment counts, and viewers have to take an extra step to buy. Stashit's promotion targets exactly that.
What it is
The App Store listing opens with "#1 app to identify and save products from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube & more," and the website is blunter: "Like Shazam for anything you can buy." The workflow has three steps:
- Tap Share in Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or Pinterest and choose Stashit.
- It scans the full video frame by frame (the site says "scans the full video, not just the caption") to find every product in it.
- Each product is saved to Vault with prices from 50 retailers (Nike, Sephora, Target, Nordstrom, Depop, and others), sorted lowest price first, plus similar-looking dupes. The site's example is a Zara top listed at $160 that it finds on Depop for $6.
The app is free to download with a limited number of scans. Unlocking requires a Pro subscription: $5.99 a week, $11.99 a month, or $59.99 a year, with a 3-day trial on the annual plan (US App Store, 11-06). The iOS version launched in Sep 8, under a developer account in an individual's name, Aryan Bhambhani. The current version is 1.1.3 (10-26, adding link sharing and live prices). The Android version is published by Larya Studios. The LinkedIn company page lists 2–10 employees, and 3 weeks ago it was hiring a social media and content intern in Mumbai.
Is it actually popular? No.
Chart position is its most visible signal, but it dropped fast (App Store Shopping Top Grossing):
| Storefront | 10-28 | 10-31 | 11-03 | 11-06 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canada | #19 | #61 | #101 | #183 |
| Costa Rica | #4 | #7 | #26 | #28 |
| Netherlands | #44 | #111 | #129 | #163 |
| Malaysia | #200 | #198 | #197 | #195 |
These ranks don't say much about revenue. On Oct 28, Canada's Shopping Top Grossing chart ranked #15 to #22 for apps like VIN lookup, card scanners, and package trackers. Costa Rica's entire Shopping Top Grossing chart had only 131 apps that day. A few weekly subscriptions could push it into the top 20 (inferred). It was in the US store only one day, on Nov 2, ranking #181.
Other signals are weak too:
- The iOS app has only 2 ratings globally (US store, 11-06), and the count hasn't moved in 10 days.
- Google Play shows 10K+ installs (11-06), and an earlier third-party snapshot showed 5000+. It's still growing, and its users are probably mostly in India (inferred).
- The official Instagram account has 625 followers. A search on X turns up almost nothing about it in the last 60 days. There are no TikTok videos about it, and no press coverage or Product Hunt page.
- Revenue is not public.
The timeline fits: creator posts clustered between Oct 17 and 20, the best chart rank came on Oct 28 (the annual plan's 3-day trial delays subscription revenue by a few days), and it has declined steadily since. It looks like one promotion bought a batch of subscriptions, and no organic traffic has followed.
Where users come from
- Indian micro-creator reels (confirmed). kashishmehta_ (10-17), inshxx_birxn (10-19), and aryyasharmaa (early November) are all young women's accounts with the same "no more commenting link" pitch, each tagging @stashitai. It looks like a coordinated UGC campaign. Whether they were paid is unverified.
- Official account posting its own reels. The descriptions are stuffed with keywords (shopping app, viral finds, Instagram finds...), aimed at Instagram's in-app search.
- Attribution is set up. The website's App Store button carries a ct=web_hero parameter, the Google Play button carries utm_source=stashitai.com, and the Instagram bio links to stashitai.com/ig. A small team tracking channels this carefully suggests it is measuring campaign performance.
- Paid ads: none found. Nothing turned up in the Meta or TikTok ad libraries, which doesn't prove they weren't run.
One thing stands out: the creators are in India, but the app charted in paid storefronts like Canada, the Netherlands, and Costa Rica. India itself never charted. Indian creators are cheap, but Indian users don't pay much (inferred).
Who it's competing with
| Product | Scale | How it differs from Stashit |
|---|---|---|
| Phia (iOS + browser extension, 2025-04) | About 22.8K ratings; $43.5M raised in total (People) | Price comparison, secondhand finds, and cashback on shopping sites. Goes the funding and celebrity route. |
| Dupe.com(iOS,2025-11) | About 6179 ratings | Finds dupes from a pasted link or image. Doesn't process video. |
| Google Lens / Circle to Search | System level | Identifies one frame at a time. Doesn't keep a list. |
| Apple Visual Intelligence (iOS 26) | System level | Searches for a match from a screenshot. Doesn't keep a list. |
| Instagram product tags and the "Suggested products" test | Platform-level | Currently relies on creators tagging products. Once a platform runs AI recognition across the board, Stashit's core use case is covered. |
| TikTok "Find similar" | Platform-level | Only routes to TikTok Shop |
| Link Plox (India, iOS 2026-08-05) | 1 iOS ratings, 1000+ on Android | Nearly the same format, plus a feature to DM reels to @link.plox. It launched about a month before Stashit. |
| Hey Savi, Sorti, SaveToList, DupeFit, and others | A handful to a few dozen ratings each | A large crowd of small tools for finding dupes from screenshots or saving reels |
At the top are well-funded companies like Phia, and underneath is a long tail of small screenshot-to-dupe apps. Stashit sits in that tail. Its real difference is the combination of a share-menu entry, whole-video recognition, and a persistent list. That combination makes the promo copy easy to write, but it hasn't produced word of mouth, and Instagram, Apple, and Google are all adding features in the same direction.
If it were you
Verdict: Don't copy it as a "Shazam for shopping." Stashit hasn't proven the business works. The chart climb came from one wave of creator posts and fell back within two weeks, and ratings haven't moved. It faces Instagram, Google, and Apple above it, Phia with $4000+ million in funding, and a crowd of similar small apps. What's worth taking is a few of its tactics.
Who it suits: People who already have affiliate commission channels and can turn recognized products into commissions, or teams with price data for a specific vertical (secondhand luxury, sneakers, furniture). They can build a narrower version with a clearer money path.
Who it doesn't suit: Indie devs hoping to make money from a generic "recognize any product" tool behind a subscription wall. Generic recognition is exactly what platforms are most likely to give away for free.
What you can learn:
- The share menu as the entry point. The low-friction flow of "see it → share → AI processes → saved to a list" works in other contexts too: a recipe you saw becomes a shopping list, a travel spot goes to a map, a book or movie goes to a watch list. Platforms are unlikely to build these themselves.
- Pick a hook people already hate. "Comment for the link" is something everyone has seen. A creator can explain the app's value in one line, and the caption can tag the friend who always comments "link," so sharing spreads on its own.
- Cheap creators, paying storefronts. Indian micro-creator reels are inexpensive. Pair them with a hard paywall and use chart ranks in Western storefronts as the signal, and you can tell within a few weeks whether anyone will pay. But charting in a list with such a low bar is only a signal, not a sign of scale.
How to get users: Follow its playbook of micro-creator reels on Instagram, with copy aimed at one specific annoying habit. Then add the two pieces it skipped: content on TikTok and Pinterest, and search terms like "where to buy" and "dupe for."
When to move: Instagram's "Suggested products" is still in testing. Generic recognition has some room until it rolls out widely. After that, only vertical categories and the saved-list layer remain.
What would show this read is wrong: If Stashit's iOS ratings climb into the hundreds or thousands over a month or two, or its chart rank recovers without a new wave of creator posts, that means people are spreading it organically and sticking around to renew. The format would then be stronger than it looks.

Stashit: Find & Save Products (iOS 6763264847) research report
Date: 2026-11-06. Storefronts checked: the App Store library was scanned across all regions (this app only charted in Shopping Top Grossing in ca / cr / nl / my; us had it for just 11-02 day at #181, and mt had one day in the Top Free category chart). The Google Play version was checked via its store page.
One line
"Shazam for shopping": tap Share in Instagram / TikTok / YouTube / Pinterest, send the video or screenshot to Stashit, and AI identifies the products in the frame, compares prices across 50+ retailers, finds cheaper alternatives, and saves them to a personal Vault. Free download + Pro subscription (weekly / monthly / yearly, yearly includes a 3-day trial). The iOS developer account is in the name of Aryan Bhambhani, the Android publisher is Larya Studios, and the team is based in Mumbai.
Verdict
It hasn't really broken out yet. The recall signals mostly come from two things: the Shopping Top Grossing bar is low, and a wave of Indian micro-creator Instagram promotion in mid-October brought a brief burst of paid conversions. 10-28 Rank has been sliding across every store since then, and the iOS rating count hasn't moved in 10 days. The product shape has one real edge: it enters from the share menu, runs frame-by-frame recognition over the full video, and saves the result into a long-term wish list. But big companies and well-funded startups are building this same shape too, and a local Indian product with the same design already exists (Link Plox).

| Malaysia Shopping Top Grossing | #200 | #198 | #197 | #195 |
- Ratings: 1–2 globally (iTunes lookup shows 2026-11-06:2 ratings, average 5.0; new_ratings was 10 for 0 days in the library).
- Chart bar: 10-28 Canada Shopping Top Grossing #15–#22 are small utilities like VIN lookup, card scanning and package tracking. On the day, only 131 apps charted on Costa Rica's Shopping Top Grossing, and #1 was package tracking. So a few weekly subscriptions can push you into the top 20, and rank says nothing about revenue scale.
- Versions: 9-08 launch, current 1.1.3 (10-26 update, added link sharing and live prices).
- The recall card says #27 in Australia, but our library has no au records, so it's unverified.
Google Play
- Store page (2026-11-06 read): StashIt: Find & Save Products, package com.stashitai.stashit, Larya Studios, 10K+ downloads. An earlier AppBrain snapshot read 5000+, so it's still growing. The recall card says it launched in late September with 10-25 around 9K, unverified.
- Our googleplay library doesn't index this package (it never charted in the lists we scrape), so we have no daily curve.
Public footprint
- X (x-radar, "stashit" search over the past 60 days): 0 posts.
- TikTok (TikHub search for "stashit" and "stashitai"): no relevant videos, and no official account found.
- Press: no coverage found, and no Product Hunt page (the Stashit on PH is a different product with the same name, "Unclutter your digital life").
- The official Instagram @stashitai has only 625 followers; the LinkedIn company page has 33 followers, with team size listed as 2–10 people, and 3 weeks ago they posted a job listing for a "social media & content intern in Mumbai."
- Revenue isn't public and isn't listed on TrustMRR.
- Verdict: hardly anyone knows about it yet.
II. Competitors
| Product | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from Stashit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phia | iOS + browser extension | 2025-04 | iOS about 22.8k ratings (library); 43.5M USD total funding (People) | Focuses on secondhand / discount price comparison and cashback, working through browser shopping pages; Stashit enters from the short-video side |

| Link Plox (Delulu Ventures LLP, India) | iOS + Android + Instagram DM bot | iOS 2026-08-05 | iOS 1 ratings, Play 1000+ | Nearly the same format, plus an extra entry point where you DM the reel to @link.plox; launched about a month before Stashit's iOS version |
| Hey Savi | iOS | 2025-11 | 30 rating | Screenshot-to-find-clothes, fashion only |
| Sorti: Saved for a Reason | iOS | 2024-04 | 55 rating | A general "save reels" organizer; no price comparison |
| SaveToList, Taglo, What She Wore, DupeFit, Copped, etc. | iOS | 2025–2026 | Single digits to a dozen-plus ratings | A large crowd of small screenshot-to-find-dupes utilities |
| ShopSpot (Chrome extension) | Chrome | 2026 | Small | Recognizes products in YouTube / TikTok frames on desktop web and sends you to Amazon |
Verdict: this category is not short on competitors. The head (Phia) runs on funding and celebrity push; the long tail is a crowd of small screenshot-to-dupe apps. Stashit sits in the long tail.
3. Growth tactics (evidence)
- Instagram micro-influencer reels (confirmed): all posted in mid-October, concentrated on Indian young women's accounts. kashishmehta_ 10-17 posted "@stashitai ending the 'link' epidemic", inshxx_birxn 10-19 posted "Send this to your friends @stashitai" (281 likes), aryyasharmaa posted "A lil hack for you guys" in early November. The official account 10-20 also posted "Download @stashitai now!!". The captions all hit the same pain point of "no more commenting for links" and end with @stashitai, which looks like one-off paid or swapped UGC placement. Whether they were paid is unverified.
- Official account posts its own reels (confirmed): the descriptions stack a string of keywords (shopping app, viral finds, Instagram finds...), doing in-app Instagram search SEO.
- Website and store links carry attribution tracking (confirmed): the website's App Store button carries pt / ct=web_hero, the Play button carries utm_source=stashitai.com, and the IG bio links to stashitai.com/ig. Channel attribution is in place.
- Paid ads (unverified): it isn't in our metaads or tiktokads libraries (not on our tracking list, and not finding it doesn't mean it wasn't run). The recall card says it "clearly runs UGC paid acquisition"; the evidence we see only supports "creators posted about it", not Meta backend campaigns.
- TikTok / X / Reddit / media: none found.
- Rank timeline matches: the creator posts cluster from 10-17 to 10-20, the best Top Grossing rank landed on 10-28 (annual plans have a 3-day trial, and weekly subscriptions renew with a lag too), and it has slid steadily since. This fits the pattern of "one push brought in a batch of subscriptions, then organic volume couldn't keep up".
IV. Why it was recalled / why it got some traction
- The pain point is real: "comment LINK for link" is a common Instagram sales tactic, and users hate it. Stashit's promo copy hits exactly that (under the inshxx_birxn post, someone commented "Finally, this clickbait behavior was starting the get ridiculous!").
- The entry point is well designed: it goes through the system share sheet, so you never leave Instagram or copy a link; the website says it recognizes the whole video frame by frame, not just the caption.
- A hard paywall paired with a low-bar chart: a small number of subscriptions was enough to show up on the Shopping Top Grossing charts in Canada, Costa Rica, and the Netherlands.
- Cheap promotion: creators are in India, but the app runs paid chart pushes in Western storefronts. However, the India store itself charts nowhere, so Indian users may mostly not pay. This point is speculation.
5. Differentiation
- Compared with Google Lens / Apple Visual Intelligence: it enters from the share sheet, processes the whole video (not one frame), compares prices across 50+ retailers (including Depop resale), and offers a long-term Vault archive.
- Compared with small screenshot-to-find-product apps: it can process video and has persistent "shopping memory".
- Compared with Phia: the entry point is short video, not shopping web pages.
- Is this why it took off?: only partly. The differentiation makes the promo copy easy to write ("Shazam for anything you can buy"), but it didn't turn into organic spread: ratings didn't climb, and there was no buzz on X or TikTok. Link Plox has nearly the same form, and the platforms themselves (Instagram's Suggested products test, Apple Visual Intelligence) are filling this gap too.
VI. Copycats
- Link Plox (India, 2026-08) has nearly the same form and came earlier. It counts as a parallel competitor, not a copy of Stashit.
- The Chrome lookalikes named in the recall card, such as Pricify Links, Reel Shop, ReelsRakhlo, and SpotWise, don't show up in our chromestore library, unverified.
- Bottom line: there's currently no product we can confirm is copying Stashit.
VII. What to take away
- The low-friction entry flow of "share sheet → AI recognition → save to a list" can be applied to other "see it, want it" scenarios: recipes, travel spots, books/movies/music.
- Use a hook the platform already recognizes as annoying ("comment for the link") so creators can state the value in one sentence.
- In a low-cost market, creators plus a hard paywall in a Western storefront can quickly validate willingness to pay.
- Picking a category with a low chart bar, like Shopping, gets you the "charted" signal. But treat that as a signal only, not as a measure of scale.
VIII. Unknowns
- Actual subscription revenue and retention, and how many orders Canada's #19 corresponds to.
- Whether there was paid placement in Meta backends; whether the creator posts were paid, swapped, or done as favors from friends.
- The source mix behind Android's 10K+ installs (likely mostly India).
- Aryan Bhambhani's identity: there are several people with the same name on LinkedIn, one of whom works in the office of the JSW One CEO in Mumbai. His relationship to Stashit is unverified. His Instagram bio links @stashitai.
