Catching cheaters by scrolling through someone's phone: a detective game a Frenchman made popular spawned a dozen-plus copycats in six months
What it is A detective game where you dig through a fictional phone's chats, photos, and social apps to catch cheating partners and solve cases. Around case 6 you're asked to subscribe weekly.
Why it took off Stalkie proved on TikTok that "snooping through a phone to catch a cheater" could both spread and sell subscriptions. Leaked copied the mechanics, posted often on TikTok, and localized into 18 languages, reaching charts in low-barrier small-country entertainment categories.
CHow you could follow Don't build another one for English-speaking markets. Pick markets like Korean, Turkish, or Indonesian that no one has worked deeply yet. Swap in local storylines and chat apps, make the first case free with ad-unlocked continuation, and test creatives with TikTok persona accounts before launch.

Leaked is a detective game where you dig through a fictional phone and catch a cheater from the chat logs. It launched in August and by early November had reached the top 100 of entertainment charts in a dozen-plus small European countries. It has no gameplay of its own; the whole thing is lifted from Stalkie, which went viral in January. It got where it is through frequent TikTok posting and broad language coverage. The demand for this category is real, but too many people have crowded in.
"Paywall at question 6, with the storyline straight from Stalkie"
In Sep 2026 9, an American player gave Leaked 5 stars on the App Store: "I've basically spent my whole life catching 'betrayal' on Instagram 😂 Now someone finally made a game just for that."
Six weeks later, in Oct 21, another player gave 1 stars with a single line: "It makes you pay by question 6, and the storyline is straight-up stolen from Stalkie."
These two reviews pretty much sum it up. The first is the hook: a woman snooping through someone's phone to expose a cheater, something many people feel they do every day. The second is where it came from and how it charges: the mechanics are copied, and the paywall is hard.
What it is
Open Leaked and you get a stranger's phone, with chats, photo albums, social apps, notes, and call logs. As you scroll, you answer questions like where he was that night and who the person in the photo is, cracking the case step by step. The store description literally says "Uncover hidden relationships and investigate infidelity."
Free to download. Around the point where you've finished the first case (question 6 or so), a subscription pops up: weekly $4.99–9.99, monthly $9.99, yearly $19.99–39.99 (from the App Store in-app purchase list). The developer is an individual account named Siarhei Ivaneichyk, and the website is registered to a company called KOJIMAI STUDIO, which also makes small products like a car-head-unit widget and an affirmations app.
How directly did it copy? The bundle ID is com.stalker.detective. The privacy policy is titled "Stalkie Detective — Privacy Policy" and the body reads "Stalkie, a mobile application published by Siarhei Ivaneichyk". So during development it was even called Stalkie, and the name was only changed to Leaked around launch.
Who it copied from
The original Stalkie · Mobile Detective was made by French developer Gregoire Collin and launched in Jan 2026 13. It took off on TikTok through creators and ordinary users: several videos under #stalkie hit 800K to 12M views, and the official @stalkie_en account has one video at 12.1M. The US store has 2,917 ratings, France 1,662, Brazil 1,621 (App Store, 11-06). It now adds dozens of ratings a week, and it's already trending down.
Stalkie proved two things: catching a cheating partner through their phone spreads well on TikTok, and people will pay a weekly subscription for it. It hit Top Grossing in France and Brazil. Over the next six months, copycats launched one after another.
How it took off
Leaked launched in Aug 18 and stayed quiet for two months. By Oct 28, all stores outside the US together added only 5–17 ratings a day. In November that jumped to 21–48 a day. The number of countries where it charted grew from 40 to 4 in Nov 53 (App Store ratings and charts, 10-28 to 11-06).
Getting there took three moves.
1. Official account volume, testing before launch. The TikTok account @leaked_detective_game_ started posting in Jul 24, before the app was live, and has posted 1,017 videos so far. The captions reuse Stalkie's phrasing: "best game for girlies" (8-2.86M views, its top video), "finally a game for stalkers", "Only 5% can solve this case without hint". The account has 475 followers (TikTok, 11-06). It wasn't chasing followers. It wanted every video to have a shot at being pushed.
2. Portuguese and Spanish "detective persona" accounts riding the original's tags. From Oct 26 to Nov 6, a batch of accounts posted heavily, such as @cintia.detetive, @sara.detective and @lustalkerrr, with captions like "LEAKED, I work as a professional detective" and "investigating people's love lives with LEAKED". Each post @-mentions the same account, "Leaked DMs || Detective game", and carries #stalkiesecretspy. Single posts only got 200–1,500 views, but there were many of them, and the timing lines up with the November rating surge. From the outside, it's impossible to tell whether these were paid creators or accounts they built themselves.
3. 18 languages, targeting small-country charts. Every store has localized titles (Italian is Gioco Investigativo, German is Mobiles Detektiv). In places like Poland, Romania, Estonia and Latvia, a few dozen ratings are enough to land in the top 100 of the Entertainment Free chart. In Nov 6 its best placements were #34 on the Poland Entertainment Free chart (where it had only 45 ratings), then #46 in Estonia, #53 in Romania and #61 in Italy. It never charted overall in any country.
There was also free lift: in App Store "You might also like", Leaked, Stalkie and Snitchy keep appearing next to each other. Anyone who searched for this type of game gets recommended similar ones back and forth.
I found no evidence of paid ads. That doesn't mean there were none.
Where the money came from, and how much
The money comes from the paywall, and that's also the problem. Almost every negative review since October is complaining about the same thing: "Money grab," "Pay to play," "Have to subscribe after 5 minutes of play." The developer replied to everyone on October 9–14 saying a "watch ads for free play" option had been added, but in Oct 30 and Nov 5 US players wrote: "The dev says there's a free option. There isn't. After question 6 you still have to pay." One more 1-star review was harsher: "The whole game is AI-generated and they still charge for it."
The scale is small. The US store has 244 ratings and a 4.49 rating, the UK 71, Poland 45 and Italy 44 (App Store, 11-06). Based on ratings, global downloads are likely in the tens of thousands (estimate). It has only appeared in Top Grossing in small stores like Panama and Finland, so monthly revenue is likely under a few thousand dollars (inference).
Who it's competing with
| Product | Launched | Scale | Compared with Leaked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stalkie (Gregoire Collin, France) | 2026-01 | 2,917 US ratings, TikTok single video up to 12.1M views | The original, now declining |
| Peekie: Stories & Choices | 2026-08 | 1,278 iOS ratings, +7 in 188 days, best category rank #4; 109K installs on Google Play | Packaged as "interactive story + choices", with stronger momentum than Leaked |
| Snitchy - Detective Game | 2026-07 | 662 iOS ratings, +7 in 192 days, best category rank #7 | Same template, ranking higher than Leaked |
| cheaters (チーターズ) 浮気調査ゲーム | 2026-07 | 2,538 Japan store ratings | Japan only, first few episodes unlocked by watching ads |
| Leaked · Mobile Detective (Hapiga Studio, Vietnam) | 2026-07 | Google Play 380k installs | Same-named product on Android, with "Stalkin is…" still in the description; relationship to the iOS version unclear |
| Leaked - Detective Story(Skytechlab) | 2026-10-12 | 112K installs on Google Play, up 103K in a week | Another studio using the name "Leaked", rapidly gaining traction |
| Girl Sherlock, Girl Detective: Phone Snoop, Detectea, SpyDiva, CluePhone and others | 2026-05 to 10 | Most have a few to a hundred-plus ratings | Girl Sherlock's subtitle literally says "stalkie" |
| SIMULACRA, A Normal Lost Phone | 2016–2017 | SIMULACRA has 5,186 US ratings, one-time purchase $4.99 | An older "found phone" puzzle game, leaning horror or art-house, not built on the cheating-partner hook |
(Ratings from App Store, installs from Google Play, as of 11-06)
This table tells a few things. On iOS, Leaked's volume doesn't rank near the top. The name "Leaked" is already in use by two studios on Android. On Android alone, Skytechlab's new installs per week exceed Leaked's total iOS installs since launch (estimate).
If it were you
The verdict: the demand is real and the build is cheap, but this wave is already crowded. Making another Leaked now likely means ranking behind a dozen rivals. The open space is at two ends: languages and platforms the original and the copycats haven't worked seriously, and the part they've all done badly: the payment experience and content quality.
Who it suits: small teams that can run a short-video account network and buy TikTok and Meta ads, and already have a story or text-game framework they can quickly reskin; or people who know a local market well enough to write "cheating boyfriend" plots that locals instantly recognize, like Japan's cheaters.
Who it doesn't suit: anyone hoping to repeat Stalkie through organic traffic in English-speaking markets. People unwilling to keep writing scripts, since these games are dead after one case and retention depends on updates. And people who can build a product but won't post videos.
How to do it:
- Pick a language or region no one has worked deeply yet. Japan already has cheaters. For Korean, Turkish, Indonesian, Arabic or Hindi, first search the App Store and Google Play for localized competitors; build where the field is empty.
- Localize the story, not just the interface. Swap the chat app for the one locals actually use (LINE, KakaoTalk, WhatsApp), and replace names, memes and cheating tropes with local ones.
- Don't copy Leaked's hard wall. The reviews are clear: players will pay, but they won't accept being locked out at question 6 while the promised ad unlock doesn't work. Keep the first case fully free, then offer a choice of "watch ads / wait / subscribe". Ratings look much better that way, and store recommendations follow.
- Script quality is where you can pull ahead. "AI-generated garbage" is already a common complaint in this category, so well-written suspense with real twists is a differentiator on its own.
How to get users: follow the path this category has already proven. A month before launch, run an official TikTok account to test creative, using lines like "only 5% of people can solve this without the hints" and "finally a game for stalkers". Add a batch of local-language persona accounts posting screen recordings in the style of "I'm investigating my boyfriend". Once a creative performs, take it to paid ads.
How early you need to be: the wave has run from January to now. The original is already declining, and copycats keep launching one after another. If you're going to do it, launch before the end of 2026, while the topic still has heat on TikTok (inference).
Signs you've read it wrong: ① the language you picked still can't break the top 100 of the local Entertainment chart a month after launch, meaning people there don't buy this theme; ② the weekly new ratings for Stalkie, Peekie and Snitchy keep falling into single digits, meaning the whole category is cooling, not just Leaked; ③ conversely, if a copycat gets "first case free + ads unlock" into the top 50 of Top Grossing, the payment experience is clearly the gap, and it's worth moving faster.

Bottom line
Leaked isn't an original hit. It's a second-wave copycat in the "secretly check someone's phone and catch a cheater" detective game category, pioneered by Stalkie · Mobile Detective (by French developer Gregoire Collin, launched 2026-01-13, which had a viral run on TikTok creator/UGC videos). It gained traction through three things: copying Stalkie's proven gameplay and emotional hooks (female perspective, catching a cheating partner, snooping through chat logs); posting often on TikTok from official accounts, plus a batch of Portuguese and Spanish "detective persona" alt accounts that hijacked Stalkie's tag #StalkieSecretSpy to ride its traffic; and localizing into 18 languages, which let it chart in small European countries' entertainment rankings where the bar is lower. Revenue comes from a hard paywall with weekly subscriptions.
1. Basics
- Developer account: Siarhei Ivaneichyk (individual account, only these 1 apps on iOS). The kojimai.online website lists KOJIMAI STUDIO LIMITED, which also runs MyCar Widgets 2.0 and I Am Stella (an affirmations app). A LinkedIn profile with the same name previously worked at Party Lab and posted about being "#1 in the US" (not verified to be the same person).
- Bundle ID
com.stalker.detective. The privacy policy Notion page is titled "Stalkie Detective — Privacy Policy", and the body reads "Stalkie, a mobile application published by Siarhei Ivaneichyk", effective date 2026-06-17. This shows the app was built under the name Stalkie (same as the original), and was renamed Leaked before or after release. Subscriptions use the Adapty SDK. - Launched 2026-08-18; current version 1.17 (2026-10-20); 18 languages, with titles localized per store (Leaked · Gioco Investigativo / Mobiles Detektiv / 手機偵探遊戲, etc.).
- Pricing: free to download; the paywall pops up around question 6 of the first case. In-app purchases listed on the App Store: Weekly $4.99/$5.99/$7.99/$9.99, Monthly $9.99, Annual $19.99–$39.99. Negative reviews from October focused on "Money grab / Pay to play", and the developer replied uniformly on October 9–14: a "watch ads to play free" option was added.
2. Growth data
- US store: 244 ratings, 4.49 stars (iTunes lookup, 2026-11-06); UK 71, Poland 45, Italy 44, Germany 39.
- Across all stores except the US, our database holds 465 ratings combined, up 174 over the last 7 days (about 37%). Daily additions rose from 5–17 at the end of October to 21–48 in November. The number of charting countries went from 40 (10-28) up to 53 (11-04), then fell back to 41 (11-06). The drop from 527 to 465 in the combined total is because some countries stopped being counted after they fell off the charts, not because ratings actually decreased (appstore database app_day / app_profile).
- Ranking: only on the Entertainment Top Free chart: Poland #34, Estonia #46, Romania #53, Italy #61, Hong Kong #62. No country got into the overall chart. The Top Grossing chart only had placements in small markets: Panama (#74), Finland (#86), New Zealand, Singapore and Colombia (appstore database 2026-11-06). AppSprint's 11-05 data shows the same, with 15 countries reaching the Top 100.
- Overall scale is very small: based on rating counts, global downloads are estimated in the tens of thousands (estimate, not verified).
3. Competitors: a category that only emerged 2026 years ago and is already crowded
| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale | How Leaked differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stalkie · Mobile Detective(Gregoire Collin) | iOS/Android | 2026-01-13 | US 2,917 ratings; other stores in our database combined 6,456 (France 1,662, Brazil 1,621), up 42 over 7 days, on the decline | The original of the category: Leaked even copied the privacy policy from it. On TikTok, the @stalkie_en account has a single video with 12.1M views, and plenty of UGC accounts have million-view posts. |
| Peekie: Stories & Choices(Intelli Future / PopPark.AI) | iOS/Android | 2026-08-06 | 1,278 ratings in our iOS database, 7 days +188, best category rank #4; 109k installs on Play | "Interactive story + choices" packaging. A competitor from the same period, with stronger momentum than Leaked. |
| Snitchy - Detective Game(YM Labs FZC) | iOS/Android | 2026-07-21 | 662 ratings in our iOS database, 7 days +192, best category rank #7; 21k installs on Play | Same template, ranking higher than Leaked |
| cheaters (チーターズ) 浮気調査ゲーム (Ryusei Okamoto) | iOS (Japan store) | 2026-07-17 | 2,538 ratings on the Japan store, 7 days +73 | A local version for the Japanese market only. The first few episodes unlock by watching ads. |
| Leaked · Mobile Detective (Hapiga Studio, Vietnam) | Android | 2026-07-01 | 380K installs on Play, 3,105 ratings | A Android app with the same name, Leaked, whose description still has "Stalkin is…" left over. Unclear whether it's the same party as the iOS version or a co-published release. |
| Leaked - Detective Story(Skytechlab / amobear.vn) | Android | 2026-10-12 | 112k installs on Play, 7 days +103k (10-29 8,919 → 11-04 83,240) | Even the name "Leaked" has been claimed by a third party, which is now buying ads to scale. |
| Girl Detective: Phone Snoop, Girl Sherlock, Detectea, SpyDiva, CluePhone, Last Seen, Cold Case Trace, etc. | iOS | 2026-05 through October | Most have from single digits to a hundred-plus ratings. | Leaked's "You Might Also Like" page is full of these. Girl Sherlock's subtitle literally says "stalkie". |
| SIMULACRA(Kaigan Games) | iOS/Steam | 2017 | US 5,186 ratings, one-time purchase $4.99 | An older horror puzzle game about "found phones", a one-time purchase with a horror bent rather than relationship gossip. |
| A Normal Lost Phone / Replica / Sara Is Missing, etc. | PC/mobile | 2016–2017 | Indie game | An older title with the same mechanic, sold as a one-time purchase. The new wave swapped the theme to "catching cheaters" and the pricing to weekly subscriptions. |
Conclusion: this category is not short of products. Leaked is just one of more than a dozen followers after Stalkie, and on iOS it ranks lower in volume than Peekie and Snitchy.
4. Growth tactics (evidence)
- TikTok official-account seeding (confirmed): @leaked_detective_game_ posted 1,017 videos, 475 followers, 39k likes total. The captions copy Stalkie's hit formulas ("finally a game for stalkers", "best game for girlies", "Only 5% can solve this case without hint"), with 6.4–66k views per video (TikHub, 2026-11-06). Started posting in Jul 24, before launch, to test creatives.
- Portuguese/Spanish persona alt matrix, riding Stalkie's tags (confirmed): @cintia.detetive (57 videos, 42 followers, bio is a Leaked ad), @sara.detective, @vapimediary, @andi4fun, @lustalkerrr and @isocadet posted intensively from Oct 26 to Nov 6, all tagged "Leaked DMs || Detective game" with #StalkieSecretSpy #stalkiesecretspy. Each video got 200–1,500 views, which looks like paid UGC or self-built alt accounts. The TikTok account name "Leaked DMs" differs from the store name. The timing lines up with the rise in ratings and more charting countries in November.
- Category piggyback (confirmed): Stalkie used UGC videos on TikTok to kick off the "snoop through the phone to catch a cheater" trend (multiple #stalkie posts with 800k to 12M views). People searching for this gameplay see similar ones, and the App Store's "Customers also bought" shows Leaked alongside Stalkie and Snitchy, drawing traffic from store recommendations.
- Localization + small-store charts (confirmed): 18 languages with localized titles. Stores with low entry thresholds, such as Poland, Romania, the Baltics and Estonia, let it reach the top 100 of the entertainment chart with just dozens of ratings, then pick up organic downloads from the charts.
- Paid acquisition: No evidence found (our ad library only tracks products on its list, so not finding anything doesn't mean they didn't spend).
5. Why it took off
- Demand is already validated: half a year ago Stalkie proved that the emotional hook of "a girl snooping on a fake phone to catch a cheater" spreads extremely well on TikTok, and it can sell subscriptions (Stalkie has charted in the grossing charts in France and Brazil).
- Fast to follow, low cost: the gameplay is a fake phone UI plus text-based story. The art and programming aren't complicated. Leaked even reused Stalkie's privacy policy template and name.
- Cheap content distribution: thousands of videos from official accounts plus an alt-account matrix, siphoning traffic by tagging the original.
- Localization covers long-tail countries in Europe and Latin America and earns chart placements there.
- Users stay because the story gives a "gossip + puzzle" thrill (positive reviews say "I already catch betrayals on Instagram in my free time"). Payment comes from a hard paywall, with the top weekly subscription at $9.99.
6. Differentiation
There is basically no product differentiation: gameplay, theme, copy and pricing are all the same as Stalkie. The only change is a more direct name, "Leaked", and broader language coverage. What's really different is distribution: fast to follow, frequent TikTok posting, and riding the original's tags in Portuguese and Spanish markets. So it got traction through its distribution playbook and category timing, not the product itself.
7. Visibility and copycats
- Revenue isn't public, no discussion on X (x-radar: "leaked detective" and "stalkie" each had 0 posts in the past 90 days), and no media coverage. On Reddit there are only scattered recommendations (in r/gamingsuggestions someone said "also try out leaked… $5 but totally worth it").
- But the category itself is already very hot on TikTok, with lots of followers. Even the name "Leaked" is used by two different developers on Android (Hapiga 380k installs, Skytechlab 7 days +100k). In terms of visibility it's "being talked about in small circles"; in terms of competition, it's already crowded.
8. What others can learn
- Work backwards from the emotional hooks that already went viral on TikTok: build in languages and regions the original didn't reach (Portuguese, Spanish and Japanese cheaters are examples).
- Frequent posting from official accounts plus persona alt accounts, siphoning traffic by tagging the original. Test creatives before launch.
- Lightweight story-driven games use a hard paywall with weekly subscriptions. Once negative reviews pile up, add ad-unlock options.
- Entertainment charts in small European countries have low thresholds, and localized titles can buy chart exposure.
9. Still unclear
- What's the relationship between the iOS Leaked (Siarhei / Kojimai) and the Android Leaked (Hapiga Studio, Vietnam, launched in July 1, 380k installs): same team with co-publishing, or copying each other? The kojimai website says Leaked is on "iOS & Android", but AppBrain shows Siarhei has only about 2 thousand installs on Play.
- Whether they bought Meta or TikTok ads.
- Real revenue: almost invisible on the grossing charts. Monthly revenue is estimated at a few thousand dollars or less (estimate, not verified).
- Whether the Portuguese and Spanish TikTok accounts are paid creators or self-built alt accounts.
