A French Christian guy turned Muslim "prayer-time reminders" into a 9.99 EUR-a-month prayer app
What it is: A French-language Christian prayer app that sends a prayer reminder every hour, with prayer courses, a prayer list, and an answered-prayer journal. Subscription is 9.99 EUR/month or 89.99 EUR/year.
Why it took off: The founder first spent half a year on TikTok building a "Christian entrepreneur" persona and validated demand with a web version. In September they launched the brand account, posting 3–5 short scripture videos a day, with the top video reaching 2.14M views. That brought in French-speaking young evangelicals and French-speaking African users.
AHow you can follow this Switch to another language and copy it: the most worth looking at is Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish evangelical content. The product can be copied in two weeks; the real work is building a brand account that posts videos daily in the local faith voice.

Prayz sends a prayer reminder every hour, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. It launched in July, and by 11-06 had 1,013 ratings on iOS. On Google Play it has 29k installs and has stayed on the French Lifestyle bestseller chart. There's nothing new about the features; Muslim prayer apps have done this for ages. It took off thanks to a TikTok brand account: 6 weeks after opening, it had posted 171 videos and grown to 200k followers. Whether this playbook can be run again in another language is the question this piece tries to answer.
A video teaching you to open the car door for the Holy Spirit
On 24 Sep 2026, the TikTok account @prayzappli posted a 2-min 17-sec video with a single line of caption: "Jean 14:16 #chretien" (John 14:16).
The video opens with: "How do you talk to the Holy Spirit all day long? Remember three things, and save this video." The second thing is a small trick: when you get in the car, open the passenger door and say, "Holy Spirit, come in, sit beside me"; at night when you're struggling, imagine Him sitting at the foot of your bed listening to you. The third thing lands on "pray without ceasing" from 1 Thessalonians 5:17. The product only comes up in the last ten or so seconds: "If you want someone to remind you to do this throughout the day, you can use Prayz, an app that reminds you to pray anytime."
As of 11-06, the video has 2.14M views, 370k likes, and 4,635 comments. The most-liked comment is a joke: "I opened the car door... do I have a car?? Then I'll walk, Holy Spirit." The second most popular is "Lord forgive me, I keep committing the same sin 😭," with 5,987 likes.
The day before, the "Matthieu 6:6" video had 740k views. After these two, the brand account posted roughly 3–5 videos a day, all using the format "scripture reference + #Chretien."
What it is
A French-speaking Christian prayer habit app, available on iOS and Android, with an English and French interface.
The core feature is an hourly push notification. You can set a simple reminder, or pick a theme so the notification becomes a guided prayer. There are a few other features: prayer courses such as "14 days to learn to pray" and "21 days to break an addiction"; a "My Prayers" list where you write down people and things on your heart, and the app keeps reminding you to pray for them; a journal for recording prayers that have been "answered"; and prayer groups and streak tracking.
It costs 9.99 EUR/month or 89.99 EUR/year, shown on the web as "EUR1.73/week," with a 7-day trial. Starting in August, it changed to show the trial prompt as soon as you open the app. A one-star review from 8-30 says: "You have to start the premium trial before you can get into the app, this is forcing people... kind of a subscription trap." A four-star review from 8-02 says: "Now even prayer reminders cost money, sorry, I uninstalled." The paywall sits up front, yet the rating is still 4.66 (888 ratings in the French store, App Store, 11-06).
The developer, Kenny Ahmad, is a French sole trader who goes by Kenny Deen on TikTok, and this is his only app.
How big it actually got
| Metric | Metric | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| iOS global ratings count | 819 (10-28) → 1,013 (11-06), +166 in 7 days | App Store |
| Of which France | 876, 155 new in 7 days | App Store |
| France Lifestyle bestseller chart | On the chart every day since 10-28, ranked #60–119, 11-06 #83 | App Store charts |
| Senegal Lifestyle bestseller chart | Best rank #19 (10-29) | App Store charts |
| Google Play installs | 26,539(11-02) → 29,015(11-05), rating 4,616 ratings, 4.6 stars | Google Play |
Almost all rating countries are French-speaking: France, Senegal (81), Switzerland, Mauritius, and Madagascar. The Android rating count is more than four times the iOS count, so French-speaking African users are most likely concentrated on that side (inference).
Revenue is not public. A ranking of 60–80 on the French Lifestyle bestseller chart roughly corresponds to a few tens to a couple hundred euros a day in revenue, or several thousand euros a month (estimate; Apple doesn't publish revenue). For an app run by one person, that's enough to live on. The founder also posts videos on TikTok about "how to live off your app."
Where users come from
Step one: the founder spent half a year building a persona. Starting in April 2026, Kenny began posting "Christian + entrepreneurship" content on his personal account @kennydeenspam, such as "Lance toi" (just go for it) and "C'est pas ton voisin qui va payer tes factures" (Your neighbor isn't going to pay your bills). Early videos got only a few hundred views. By 11-06, the account had 107k followers, 3.18M likes, and 846 videos, with a bio reading "I help you put God back at the center of your life," and his wife appears on camera too.
Step two: push people to the web version before the store listing was live. 6-05 He posted "I built a free app to help you pray: Prayz.net" and got 114k views. 6-21 The one after was more direct: "Go to the Prayz.net website to download it, not Google's store or the App Store," with 308k views. At the time Prayz was only a web version, which you could add to your home screen to get reminders. The iOS version launched in 7-15, and Android in 8-03. In other words, he validated demand with the web version first and only then built the store versions.
Step three: open a brand account and produce content in volume. 9-04 He publicly recruited creators on his personal account: "I'm looking for creators to talk about my app; it doesn't matter if you're famous." 9-22 The brand account @prayzappli posted the earliest video visible today, and in 6 weeks posted 171 videos, reaching 202k followers and 1.86M likes. Total views during that period exceeded 10M (TikTok, 11-06). Many videos reached hundreds of thousands of views: "Jean 16:13" at 430k, "Nombres 23:19" at 430k, and "Éphésiens 4:30" at 360k.
The videos fall roughly into two types. One is the teaching format from the opening example: "scripture + three points + a mention of the app at the end." The other is narrative: 10-29's "Et si tu pouvais entendre Dieu directement ?" (What if you could hear God speak directly?) tells of a person who could hear the Holy Spirit, who at a wedding didn't marry a fraudulent bride, who found a lost child on the third level of a parking garage, and who finally went out every night to pray in the streets and stopped a street violence incident. The same caption was posted three times on 10-29, 11-01, and 11-04, with 510k, 300k, and 170k views. They were repeatedly testing the same hook.
Other channels: The founder reposted the same videos to Facebook and Instagram. Inside the app, inviting 1 friends gives them 2 month of membership, and inviting 6 friends gives a year.
Not found: no paid ads or boosted hit products turned up. Judging by organic play volume, the current growth can be explained without paid acquisition.
Why users pay
The word that keeps coming up in reviews is "busy": "If you're busy at work and have no time to pray all day, it lets you pray once an hour" (7-16); "Even with coworkers around and no way to pray every time, the reminder gets me praying in my head and turning back to Jesus" (7-22).
It's the same feeling as the video comments: you want to talk to God more, can't manage it, and feel guilty. The first line of the store description is "without guilt and without forgetting." Inside the app, the hourly push is itself a prayer, and you don't have to open the app. The value is delivered by the push, not by the user opening it.
Who it's competing with
| Competitors | Scale (11-06) | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Hallow | 1,350 ratings in France, Lifestyle Top Grossing #18 | Big US company, Catholic-leaning, mostly audio meditations and rosaries, no hourly reminders |
| Bible(YouVersion) | 369k ratings in France | Free Bible-reading platform, no subscription |
| Bible Instant | 5,115 ratings in France, Top Grossing #11 | Listed in 2026-01, Bible reading and scripture content, bigger scale than Prayz |
| Bibly, Bibleo | 6,087 / 1,144 ratings in France | All are daily-verse and widget products by French indie developers, 2026 years old |
| Loucio | 256 ratings in France, +7 in 122 days, Top Grossing #39 | Listed in 9-29, Catholic plus AI voice companion, competing for the same audience at the same time |
| Prions, YouPray, Hozana | 17k / 4,691 ratings in France | From a Catholic institution, audience skews traditional |
| Prayminder, Echo Prayer | 4,854 / 21.7k ratings in the US | English prayer list plus reminders, closest in features, but no content channel |
| Dove: a Prayer Reminder App | US: 0 ratings | Listed in 2026-03, same concept, didn't take off |
| Muslim Pro, MAWAQIT, etc. | Tens of thousands to 550k ratings in France | The prototype for prayer-time reminders. Prayz brought this format to Christians |
Two things stand out. First, French-language Christian apps have been hot for 2026 years, with several indie developers alone, but most do Bible reading and daily verses. Only Prayz offers "hourly prayer reminders," and I haven't seen anyone copy it yet. Second, Dove and Prayminder show the concept itself has no barrier. Building it doesn't mean it sells. What decides the outcome is the content channel.
If it were you
Verdict: This is an app where "anyone can build the concept, anyone can learn the channel." Its moat is a TikTok brand account that makes faith content, and a brand account can reach 6k followers in 200 weeks. Following its method in another language can be done again.
Who it's for: People who are inside a Christian community themselves, or who have a partner like that, and who can post faith short videos daily in that language. The most promising are Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish evangelicals: the audience is much larger than the French market, with more Android users and lower spending power, but volume makes up for it. The English market has more competitors and more content accounts, but no one has yet done the combination of "hourly reminders + content account" well.
Who it's not for: People who don't feel anything about faith and just want to copy a template. Comments and video scripts depend on very specific faith language (the Holy Spirit, sin, fulfillment, ceaseless prayer). One wrong sentence and viewers will notice right away. Also skip it if you only build products and won't post videos every day. Dove ended up that way.
How to build it: Copy Prayz's product. It can ship in two weeks: hourly pushes (each push includes a line guiding a prayer), a prayer list, a fulfillment log, check-ins, and groups. Price at 9.99 per month or 89.99 per year (local currency), with a 7-day trial. A paywall up front will draw some bad reviews, but given Prayz's ratings the cost is small. Start with a PWA or Android, don't wait for iOS.
How to get users: Use two accounts. Start with a personal account saying "I'm a Christian, I'm building something to help people pray" to gather an audience. Then open a brand account posting 3–5 times a day, using two formats: tutorial videos ("verse number + three points + a mention of the app at the end") and story videos ("What if you could hear God?"). Repost hooks that went viral every two or three days. Invite 6 people for a free year. This referral loop can be copied directly.
When to get in: The French market already has similar competitors like Loucio. Whether there are equivalents in the Portuguese and Spanish markets was not specifically checked (unverified), so search the local stores and TikTok before starting. Around Christmas and New Year, believers make "pray better this year" resolutions, so the best plan is to get the content account going before mid-December and launch paid in January.
What would show you're wrong: ① If Prayz's brand account stops posting for a month and its French Top Grossing rank still holds in the top 120, the product itself keeps people, the content account is just an entry point, and the barrier to following is lower than you think. ② The reverse: if the brand account's views drop and the app falls off the charts with it, this is a "content business" where the app is just the cash register, and anyone following needs to be sure they can post daily for the long run. ③ If within six months Hallow or YouVersion adds "hourly reminders" and pushes into Portuguese and Spanish markets, the gap gets taken by a big company.

One line
A French-language Christian "hourly prayer reminder" app built by French indie developer Kenny Ahmad (TikTok name Kenny Deen, sole trader, SIRET registered in France): from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., a prayer notification every hour, so you can pray without opening the app. Includes themed prayer courses, a personal prayer list, a "fulfilled" log, prayer groups, and streak check-ins. Subscription is €9.99/month or €89.99/year, with a 7-day trial.
1. Data: how big it is now
- iOS all-storefront ratings 819 (10-28) → 1013 (11-06), +7 in the last 166 days (data card). France 876, +7 in the last 155 days, most of the total. Senegal 81, Switzerland 26, Mauritius 18, Madagascar 7. Almost all French-speaking markets (data card / appstore library).
- Apple lookup(11-06): France store 888 ratings, average 4.66; US store 128, 4.42. Version 2.4 (released 10-29), EN/FR bilingual.
- Charting daily in the France Lifestyle Top Grossing since 10-28, ranks 60–119, best #60 (10-31, 11-05); Top Free 93–174. Senegal Lifestyle Top Grossing best #19 (10-29). Belgium Top Grossing best #51 (11-01) (appstore library chart_rank). The France Lifestyle Top Grossing bar isn't high: #60–80 roughly means tens to a couple hundred euros a day in revenue (estimated, unverified).
- Android is bigger than iOS: Google Play
net.prayz.app(developer Kenny Deen, first listed on the store 2026-08-03) installs 26,539 (11-02) → 29,015 (11-05), 3 days +2,476; rating 4,286 → 4,616 (googleplay library). Suggests much of the audience is French-speaking Africa and low-cost Android users; iOS is only part of it.
2. How it took off (timeline)

| 09-23 / 09-24 | "Matthieu 6:6" 743k, "Jean 14:16" 2.14M plays, 370k likes | TikTok |
| Late September–October | The brand account posts 3–5 videos a day in a "verse number + #chretien" format, many at 10–430k; there is also a "STORYTIME BIBLIQUE" series | TikTok |
| 10-29 / 11-01 / 11-04 | The same caption, "Et si tu pouvais entendre Dieu directement ?", posted three times: 510k / 300k / 170k. They're testing the same hook repeatedly | TikTok |
Account scale (11-06): @prayzappli 202k followers, 1.86M likes, 171 videos; founder account @kennydeenspam 107k followers, 3.18M likes, 846 videos, bio "Je t'aide à remettre Dieu au centre de ta vie", his wife @Maeva Deen also appears on camera. Total views retrievable for the brand account since 9-22: about 10M+; the founder account about 4.7M since April. The founder also reposts the same "Luc 11:1 #Chretien" videos on Facebook (kenny.ahmad.520), ending with a Prayz pitch. There's also Instagram @prayzappli and a landing page prayzappli.com (labeled "App Store & Google Play 4.8 rating").
Growth logic: the founder first builds a "Christian entrepreneur" persona on a personal account to gather a French Christian audience → uses the personal account to drive traffic straight to the web version (not even on stores) to validate demand → lists on both platforms → in September opens a standalone brand account and uses high-frequency, low-cost short videos of "verse + emotional hook" to mass-produce hits, with comments and bio driving downloads. This is a textbook founder-as-channel + brand-account content matrix play.
Paid ads: Prayz and Kenny Ahmad don't appear as advertisers in our Meta / TikTok (Europe) / Google ad libraries. But these libraries only track listed products, and Prayz isn't on the list, so not finding them doesn't mean they didn't spend (unverified). Judging from the organic TikTok view volume, current growth can be explained without paid acquisition.
Other retention/referral mechanics (from the prayz.net web interface):
- Invite friends: every 1 people invited earns 2 month(s) of Premium, 6 people = 1 year(s). Built-in referral loop.
- "Pray together": free to join a prayer group (creating a group costs money), so social ties keep people around.
- Hourly notifications + streak tracking + a personal prayer list repeatedly reminding you "until it comes true" (the App description cites Luc 11:5-10, 1 Th 5:17, "pray without ceasing"). The notification itself becomes the product, giving natural high-frequency touchpoints, the core of subscription retention.
- Pushes a "Salvation prayer" to new believers, targeting young evangelicals who want to restart prayer or just came to faith, which closely matches the founder's content audience.
III. Competitors
The French-speaking Christian app market has been clearly heating up for 2026 years:
| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale (appstore library, France store, 11-06) | How it differs from Prayz |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hallow | iOS/Android, big US company | 2018 | Global leader; France store 1,350 rating, Lifestyle Top Grossing #18 | Mainly audio meditation and rosary, Catholic-leaning, American production; no core "hourly reminder" mechanic |
| Bible(YouVersion) | iOS/Android | 2008 | 369k ratings in France | Bible reading platform, free, doesn't sell subscriptions |
| Bibly - Versets et prières(Charly Klopfenstein) | iOS | 2026-01 | 6,087 rating, +25 over the last 7 days, Top Grossing #66 | Also a French indie developer; verse widgets and Bible reading, not prayer reminders |
| Bible Instant(SCSEVEN) | iOS | 2026-01 | 5,115 score, +125/7 days, #11 Top Grossing | Bible reading/verse product, bigger in scale than Prayz |
| Bibleo - Verset du jour(Pierick Villaume) | iOS | 2026-04 | 1,144 ratings, Top Grossing #56 | Daily verses, French indie |
| Loucio(CYBELE) | iOS | 2026-09-29 | 256 score, +122/7 days, #39 Top Grossing | AI voice companion + Catholic daily gospel/rosary; different direction (Catholic, AI conversation), but competing for the same French believers at the same time |
| YouPray(Media Tech)/ Prions(Bayard)/ Hozana | iOS/Android/web | 2010–2019 | 4,691 / 17,289 rating | Produced by a traditional Catholic institution, content-driven; Prayz leans toward young evangelicals and habit-forming tools |
| Prayminder / Echo Prayer / Prayer Notebook | iOS (English) | 2012–2017 | US store 4,854 / 21,738 / 6,198 ratings | Prayer list + reminders, closest in function; but English-language, older product, no content channel, and hasn't broken into the French market |
| Dove: a Prayer Reminder App | iOS (English) | 2026-03 | US store rating 0 | Same concept, never got traction, showing "hourly reminders" alone isn't the barrier |
| Islamic prayer apps (Muslim Pro, MAWAQIT, Athan Pro, Khushu, FivePrayer) | iOS/Android | Years | Huge in the France market | The functional prototype is "remind me to pray on time", which Muslim apps have already perfected; Prayz essentially carries this format over to Christians |
Conclusion: "timed prayer reminders" aren't new (Muslim prayer-time apps and the English Prayminder already exist), and French Christian apps aren't scarce either (2026 years of indie developers crowding in: Bibly, Bibleo, Bible Instant, Loucio). Prayz's gap is the combination of "French + young evangelicals + turning prayer into an hourly push-notification habit", but what actually made it take off is the channel.
4. Why it made the list
- The founder brings his own audience: Kenny Deen has been running a "Christian entrepreneur" persona on TikTok since April; before the app was listed, his personal account's videos with hundreds of thousands of views sent traffic straight to the prayz.net web version (06-21 videos, 308k plays).
- A brand-account content machine: @prayzappli opened 9-22, posts 6 times per 171 weeks, 200k followers, peak single video 2.14M views; the format is minimal (verse number + #chretien + emotional hook), repeatable daily, and the same hook gets reposted.
- Validate on PWA before the stores: in June they collected users and tested willingness to pay on the web version, then listed on iOS in July and Android in August.
- The product mechanics are naturally high-frequency: hourly pushes = 15 touchpoints a day; the prayer list "until it comes true", streaks, and groups all drive return visits; inviting 6 people earns 1 year(s), a referral loop.
- High pricing with trial conversion: 9.99 €/month, 89.99 €/year (the web page anchors with "€1.73/week"), 7-day trial; the France Lifestyle Top Grossing chart has held steady at #60–120.
- The long tail in French Africa: Senegal's Top Grossing chart once reached #19, Android has 29k installs, and French-speaking African evangelicals are a large group with little competition.
5. Differentiation
The differentiator is hourly passive prayer reminders: the notification itself is a prayer, so you don't need to open the app, paired with a list of "keep praying for someone/something until it's answered". It's different from Bible-reading apps (YouVersion, Bibly), audio meditation (Hallow), and Catholic institutional apps (Prions, YouPray), and it fits young evangelicals who want to pray but keep forgetting and feel guilty about it (the copy repeatedly stresses sans culpabilité). But this isn't the main reason it took off: English apps with the same concept (Dove, Prayminder) didn't take off, and Muslim apps did this long ago; Prayz mainly took off through the founder's TikTok persona + the brand account's daily content. The differentiation gives the content an easy hook ("Priez sans cesse, enfin simple") and helps subscriptions retain users.
6. Visibility
- No record of revenue on TrustMRR or in public disclosures (Jina search found nothing); x-radar shows 0 mentions of "prayz" in the last 90 days; no media coverage.
- But it's already very visible in French Christian TikTok circles (the brand account has 200k followers, the founder 107k), and the founder talks about "Vivre de son app" and "Comment vivre de son app" on TikTok. Revenue isn't public, but the founder openly talks about making money from the app.
- Conclusion: it's circulating in a small circle (French Christian TikTok); for the app-builder community, almost nobody knows about it yet.
VII. Copycats
No French product found that directly copies "hourly prayer reminders". Loucio (2026-09-29) is a French Catholic AI prayer companion that launched around the same time, with a different positioning. Dove (2026-03) in English has the same concept but 0 rating and predates Prayz, so it doesn't count as a copy.
VIII. What to take from it
- Religious/faith category: find a category with a mature form (Muslim prayer-time reminders) and transplant it to another faith and another language.
- The founder first builds an "identity + values" persona account, then promotes a tool to the same audience; open a standalone brand account and post templated short videos daily, reposting the same hook over and over.
- Ship a PWA first and use TikTok to validate, then go to the stores.
- Make the push notification the core product (once an hour = value delivered), rather than relying on open rates.
- Android + French-speaking Africa is an underpriced long tail.
9. Uncertain
- Whether paid ads run (Meta/TikTok/Google libraries don't track it) is unverified; whether the brand account's hits were boosted via Spark Ads is unverified.
- Actual revenue: only the French Lifestyle Top Grossing rank 60–120 as indirect evidence, unverified.
- @prayzappli 9-22 I'm not sure whether there were old videos deleted before (06-27 founder is @Prayz on the account).
- We don't have the grade curve for before 10-28, so we can't confirm how big the jump was when the September TikTok hit products came in.
