Snap a photo, AI writes your Vinted listing: a French iPhone tool that won on TikTok
What it does Photograph the second-hand clothes you want to sell, and AI writes the listing for three French resale platforms, suggests a price, and turns the shot into a clean studio-style image. You copy and paste it yourself.
Why it took off Vinted flipping is a popular side hustle on French TikTok. The developer posted demo videos from their own account using the same template, and one video with 280k views brought in the first users. A 9.99 / 24.99 € monthly subscription plus a 4.99 € one-time pack kept downloads modest, but it still pushed into the top 10 of France's Shopping Top Grossing chart.
BHow you could play it Don't copy it straight onto the French iPhone market. Build the Android version it lacks (the comments are full of people asking for it), or switch to local resale platforms and languages in Germany, Spain, Italy, or Poland, and use the same TikTok "bought for X, sold for Y" video template to get users.

French indie developer Jules Yanis Bourgeois built an iPhone app called Vendly. You photograph a piece of old clothing, and AI writes a version of the listing in the voice of each of three platforms (Vinted, Leboncoin, and Vestiaire Collective), suggests a price, and cleans up a studio-style photo. More than a hundred similar apps already exist in this space. What got this one moving wasn't the tech. It was a TikTok video plus focusing only on the French market. Below: how it took off, where the money comes from, and which gaps are still open.
A video with 280k views, and the comments are asking two questions
In 2026 Sep 7, the TikTok account @vendly.app posted a video captioned "Vendre plus vite sur vinted 🚀 grâce à Vendly sur l'app store" (sell faster on Vinted with Vendly on the App Store), tagged #vinted #achatreventevinted. By Nov 6, the video had 282k views and 9,871 likes. The app had launched in Jul 23, about a month and a half before that.
Scrolling the comments, two questions come up most. One is "C'est payant ?" (Is it paid?), asked in a dozen different phrasings. The other is "sortez la sur Play Store svppp" (please release it on the Play Store) and "dommage il y a pas sur Android 😭" (too bad there's no Android version). The rest are people dropping their Vinted shop names to ask for follows, and one comment that says "Un vrai gain de temps !" (a real time-saver).
Those two types of comments basically outline this piece: a lot of people want it, they care about price, and about half of phones can't run it.
What it actually does
The flow is short: take a photo → AI writes title, description, brand, size, material, condition, and a price estimate → copy, then paste it into the platform yourself. The three listing versions are written differently. From the official site: the Vinted version is "direct in tone, with hashtags, highlighting size and condition"; the Leboncoin version is "more factual, spelling out local pickup and cash-in-hand"; the Vestiaire Collective version uses "fashion vocabulary, with material and provenance, suited to designer pieces."
Other features: "Studio photo" cuts out clothes shot casually on a table and places them on a clean background; authenticity checks read the label and stitching, and give a verdict with reasoning in about 40 seconds; inventory is managed as "listed / pending shipment / sold," with automatic gross margin calculation. In Oct 21's 2.0 version, it added "3 pending listings per night," reminders to cut prices or message collectors when items aren't selling, reminders to refresh listings after 21 days, and a weekly summary every weekend of "how much you sold and how much you made." It started as a one-use copywriting tool and became something you open every day.
It repeatedly stresses one point: it doesn't connect to your Vinted account and doesn't publish for you. You copy and paste. The desktop Chrome extensions that auto-reprice and auto-relist (Trakz, Bleam and similar) carry the risk of account bans, and Vendly writes "safe" into its store description.
Where users come from
Its own TikTok account is the main channel. As of 11-06, @vendly.app had 2,139 followers and 23 posts. Apart from the 9-07 video at 280k, there's one at 9-30 with 85k views and one at 10-27 with 29k, and most of the rest get a few hundred to a few thousand views. The content comes down to a few formats: "Pull Ami Paris bought for 24 €, sold for 110 €" showing the profit on one item; a before-and-after edit of the same garment; and "Vinted's secret 🤫." When one clicks, the same template gets reshot over and over. In Oct 20 they also opened an English account, @vendly.en, which peaked at 15k views.
French SEO is the second leg. The website has 9 Vinted tutorials: how to sell, how to price (it even spells out Vinted's buyer fee of 5% + 0.70 €), the algorithm, photography, and flipping. There's also a monthly "Baromètre": in September they tallied 457 real transactions, with a median sale price of 16 €, and a median markup from buy to sell of ×2.6,87%, which shows flipping can be profitable. Self-collected numbers like these are the easiest to get cited by others. The download buttons at the bottom of the tutorial pages carry separate attribution parameters, which suggests he's tracking how many downloads each article brings in.
Paid ads are minimal. The TikTok Ad Library shows "Jules Bourgeois (Vendly)" running 22 ads in the UK starting Oct 7, and none after Oct 24. It looks like a small test for the English version.
Two more points are inferences. The French app name is simply "Revente seconde main" (second-hand resale), and the description spells out all three platform names, across 8 languages with a localized name for each region, which points to store-search optimization. The website also offers "invite 3 friends for a free one-time pack," and the French store gains 4–15 ratings a day while written reviews are only occasional. That pattern looks like a prompt inside the app asking for a rating.
There's no press coverage. Nobody has discussed it on X in nearly 90 days, and I found no Reddit threads.
Where the money comes from, and how much
Pricing (France, per the website 11-06):
| Tier | Pricing | Item |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 € | The first demo with photo editing, then 3 listings + 1 authenticity checks per month, no card required |
| Pack Découverte | 4.99 € one-time | 10 listings + 5 authenticity checks, never expire |
| Pro | 9.99 €/month | 30 listings + 10 authenticity checks, with a free trial |
| Illimité | 24.99 €/month | Unlimited, adds "real market price," marked "most popular" on the website |
It's monthly, not weekly. For someone who clears out their wardrobe every few weeks, the 4.99 € one-time pack is an easier commitment than a subscription.
The chart history is interesting. From Oct 28 to Nov 6, it sat at #4–#9 daily on France's App Store Shopping Top Grossing chart (reaching #11-02, #11-03, and as high as #4), and #3–#12 in Belgium. Over the same period it charted only #112–#155 on France's Shopping Top Free chart, and was sliding. Downloads were modest, but the share of paying users was high. Across all stores, ratings went from 10-28 to 148, then to 11-06 to 268, with 199 coming from France and an average of 4.75 (App Store France, 11-06).
How much it earns is hard to say. France's Shopping grossing chart is thin to begin with, and the apps at the top are package-tracking and coupon apps, so the absolute revenue at #6 may not be large (inference, since Apple doesn't publish revenue). The developer hasn't shared revenue numbers.
Who it's competing with
This space is already crowded. More than a hundred "AI listing / second-hand resale" apps launched in 2025–2026, mostly in the US and UK, and mostly built around eBay and Poshmark. For example, Hero (US, 2,071 ratings). The closest matches to Vendly:
| Competitors | Status (App Store, 11-06) | How it differs from Vendly |
|---|---|---|
| PreLoved AI: Vinted Listings | Launched 2025-08, 48 ratings, 7 new in the last 0 days | Similar features, a year earlier, mainly English, no content marketing |
| Vintly : Vendez plus vite | Launched 2026-09-17, 36 ratings, #28 on France's Shopping grossing chart | Similar name and approach, also has a TikTok account |
| Postfast, Objely, BrocScan, Fastlistr, and others | Launched between 10 and November, single-digit to low-teens ratings | French copycats that appeared after Vendly took off |
| Trakz (web + Chrome extension) | 14.99–59.99 €, 10-27 has a dedicated "Trakz vs Vendly" page | Connects your account, auto-reprices and relists, used on desktop |
| Asking ChatGPT directly | Free | You write a new prompt each time, no pricing, photo editing, or inventory |
PreLoved AI is the best comparison: a similar product, launched a year earlier, nobody made videos for it, and it has 48 ratings now. In this business, everyone can write listings. The difference is all in distribution.
Vinted itself is currently building AI search and item recognition on the buyer side. I haven't seen an official "photo to listing" feature (per reports from capital.fr and tf1info).
Its weak spots
- No Android version. A row of TikTok comments are asking for one, and Trakz's comparison page says "pas encore" (not yet). French Android users outnumber iPhone users (inference, based on public market-share data).
- Bugs after paying. Two negative French reviews: "L'application était parfaite jusqu'au moment où je prends l'abonnement illimité et qu'il m'est impossible de faire des photos" (It was perfect until I took the unlimited subscription and it became impossible to take photos, 9-26); "Quand j'ai pris l'abonnement illimité par mois, il y a des bugs comme par hasard" (As soon as I got the monthly unlimited plan, bugs showed up, funnily enough, 11-03). Both hit the most expensive tier.
- Over-editing. Under the viral video, someone said "l'ia modifie trop les photos" (the AI changes the photos too much), and another asked whether edited photos are against Vinted's rules.
- Traffic is fading. The Top Free chart fell from 112 to 155, and newer videos mostly get a few hundred to a few thousand views. The long tail from September's video may be running out (inference).
If it were you
B: worth a try. The opportunity is real, but don't copy Vendly on the French iPhone market. It already has that space, plus five or six copycats. The openings are where it hasn't gotten to.
Who it suits: one or two people, with at least one who can appear on camera or film TikTok demos, ideally someone who already sells on Vinted or a local resale platform and knows what sellers find annoying. You should be able to build for Android, or speak a language Vendly hasn't seriously tackled.
Who it doesn't suit: pure coders with no plan to make videos (the writing and photo features are just API calls, with no technical barrier, which is why PreLoved AI never took off); people who want English and mainly target eBay or Poshmark (the US and UK have the most competitors); people hoping to differentiate with auto-posting through account access (ban risk, and Vendly is using "we never touch your account" as a selling point).
How to do it: pick one of two paths.
- Android first, or French Vinted. The demand is spelled out in the comments. Offer the same three-platform listings + photo editing + inventory, and price it like Vendly: a permanent free tier, a 4.99 € one-time pack, and a monthly plan, but skip the weekly option. The photo editing has to stay faithful. Labels, logos, and flaws can't be erased, which is exactly what Vendly gets criticized for.
- Switch platforms and languages. Every country has its own resale platforms and conventions: Kleinanzeigen in Germany, Wallapop in Spain, Subito in Italy, OLX in Poland, plus Vinted in each of those countries. Vendly supports 8 languages, but its German, Italian, and Polish regions have only single-digit ratings, which means they haven't really started. Write listings in each local platform's voice and price in local currency.
How to get users: copy its TikTok template and shoot in your own language: a real garment, "bought for X, sold for Y," a before-and-after edit, tagged with local flipping hashtags. Prepare 20–30 videos, and once one catches on, keep reshooting that format. At the same time, write a local-language "how to sell on X platform" tutorial series, and publish a self-collected transaction report as link bait. Answer the "is it paid?" question in the first line of the comments, and pin the free tier at the top.
When to act: Ship before January 2027. Year-end closet clear-outs and post-holiday resales are peak season for resale apps (my inference). Wait past that and Vendly's Android and other-language versions will likely be out.
Signs you've misread this: ① Vendly ships Android and charts in the top 50 of the French Play Store shopping category within a month: the French-speaking market is no longer open. ② Vinted launches an official "photo to listing" feature: every app in this category takes a hit. ③ Vendly drops out of the top 20 of French shopping Top Grossing and stays down: its paying users from one viral video didn't stick, and the business itself isn't big. ④ Conversely, a same-category app in your target language posts on TikTok for a month straight and its rating climbs: demand is real, move fast.

Vendly: Revente seconde main (iOS 6789630023) research report
In one line: an iPhone tool built by French indie dev Jules Yanis Bourgeois. Snap a photo and AI writes three listings for Vinted / Leboncoin / Vestiaire Collective, plus a price estimate and a studio-style base image. Launched 2026-07-23, grew through its own TikTok account, where one demo video hit 280k views, and monetizes via a French SEO guide hub plus Pro at €9.99 / unlimited at €24.99 subscriptions. It holds #4–9 in French shopping Top Grossing. The category is crowded (dozens of similar apps). It leads thanks to distribution and polish, not technical moats.

How to read these numbers: the free chart only reaches #100 or so, while Top Grossing sits in the top 10. That means modest downloads but solid conversion and high revenue per user (subscriptions at €9.99 / €24.99, not weekly). The French shopping Top Grossing chart is thin overall, with package tracking and coupon apps near the top, so #6 may not mean much revenue (inferred; Apple doesn't publish revenue).

This niche is already a red ocean. Searching the appstore library by name turns up hundreds of AI listing-writer and resale tools launched in 2025–2026, especially in the UK and US.

3. Growth tactics (where users come from)
- Demo short videos from its own TikTok account (main channel, confirmed). @vendly.app has 2,139 followers, 57k likes, and 23 posts. 2026-09-07 The one titled "Vendre plus vite sur vinted grâce à Vendly" got 282k views, 9,866 likes, and 924 shares; 09-30 another got 85k views; 10-27 another got 29k. 10-20 it also opened an English account, @vendly.en (top video 15k views). The content formula is fixed: film a piece of clothing → AI writes the caption → "Bought for 24 €, sold for 110 €" to show the margin, plus a studio before-and-after. The hashtags are #vinted #achatreventevinted #reseller, riding the audience of Vinted sellers who make this kind of content. (Source: TikHub user profile and post endpoints, 2026-11-06)
- SEO content (confirmed). The site app.myvendly.app/guides has 9 French Vinted guides (how to sell, how to price, the algorithm, photos, reselling), plus a "Baromètre" (analysis of 457 real sales, median sale price 16 €, resale markup ×2.6) used as a link-bait. The download button carries the App Store attribution parameter ct=guide-fr-hub-fin.
- Small amount of TikTok paid ads (confirmed, but tiny). The tiktokads library has advertiser "Jules Bourgeois (Vendly)", registered in France. Started running on 2026-10-22, 7 ads seen, max reach tier 100k, targeting GB, nothing new after 10-24, currently running 0 ads. Looks like a small test for the English version. Not found in the Meta Ad Library (that library only tracks a list of products, so not finding it there doesn't mean no spend).
- Store ASO (inferred). The French store name is simply "Revente seconde main", and the subtitle and description are packed with Vinted / Leboncoin / Vestiaire Collective. It is localized into 8 languages, with each store's name localized separately ("Rivendi seconda mano", "Sell Secondhand Fast").
- Referral rewards and in-app review prompts (inferred). The website says "invite 3 friends and get the Pack Découverte". France gets 4–15 new ratings per day, while written reviews during the same period are sporadic, with an average score of 4.75. This looks like a rating prompt shown inside the app.
- No media coverage, X discussion (x-radar: 0 posts in the last 90 days), Reddit threads or celebrity endorsements found.
4. Why it charted
- Demand is large and the timing is right. Vinted is a national-level app in France (tf1info reports a third of French people use it), and reselling (achat-revente) is a hot side-hustle topic on TikTok. Writing copy, pricing and photographing items are the three steps sellers hate most, and AI handles all of them in one tap.
- A single TikTok video drove the traffic. The 280k-view video on 09-07 lines up with the 148 ratings already accumulated in 10-28's library (only 3 months after launch). Afterwards it kept traffic up by posting videos in the same template every two days.
- French-speaking markets only (plus Europe's Vinted markets). Similar apps in the UK and US revolve around eBay / Poshmark; Vendly targets only three French home platforms, Vinted, Leboncoin and Vestiaire Collective, with copy tone written separately for each platform, and language and currency localized.
- Pricing lowers the paywall barrier. There is a permanent free quota (3 listings/month), a one-time 4.99 € pack, and a monthly subscription of 9.99 €, not weekly. It doesn't connect to accounts or auto-publish, so there is no risk of a Vinted account ban, which the description specifically emphasizes.
- One person iterating fast. Version 2.0 added "3 listings queued each night", "reminders to cut prices or message people who saved the item when it isn't selling", "refresh every 21 days", a weekly report, and authenticity checks, turning a one-time copywriting tool into something people open every day.
5. Differentiation, and whether it's really why it grew
The copywriting itself has no differentiation: ChatGPT can do it with one prompt, and there are hundreds of similar apps. Vendly's difference lies in: (1) separate versions of copy tone for each of France's three platforms; (2) studio-style background images + authenticity checks + inventory and margin, bundled into a complete native iPhone app; (3) it doesn't touch seller accounts, so no ban risk, clearly separating it from automation extensions like Trakz and Bleam; (4) pricing is lower than Trakz. What really drove growth was distribution (TikTok demo videos + French SEO) combined with positioning (French-speaking markets, Vinted first). These product differences mainly help it improve retention and paid conversion, and don't form a moat. The most direct evidence: PreLoved AI launched a year earlier with similar features, but without content distribution it has only 48 ratings now.
6. Visibility and copycats
- Visibility: circulating in a small circle. Revenue is not public, and no TrustMRR or founder revenue posts turned up; there is no media coverage and nobody discusses it on X. But competitor Trakz has already written a dedicated comparison page, chart sites like storeintel and chartoo have pages for it, and it has been seen in Vinted seller circles on TikTok.
- Copycats: Vintly (2026-09-17, similar name and approach, also promoted on TikTok), Postfast : annonces IA (10-02), BrocScan (10-21), Objely (10-15), Fastlistr : annonce en 1 photo (11-03). These are French look-alikes that appeared after Vendly took off, and all are still small.
7. What others can learn
- Find a localized, platform-specific side-hustle scenario (here, Vinted reselling), wrap an LLM with "platform-tone copywriting + price estimation + photo editing", and build it as a native app.
- Use your own account to film "how much I earned on one sale" demo videos on TikTok; once one takes off, keep reusing the same template. At the same time, write a long-tail SEO guide on "how to sell", and publish a data report of your own as link-bait.
- The pricing mix of a permanent free quota + a small one-time pack + monthly subscription suits consumer sellers with irregular usage.
- Don't touch platform accounts, avoid ban risk, and make that a selling point.
8. Still unclear
- Actual revenue: the bar for French shopping bestseller charts is low, and absolute revenue at rank #6 is unknown.
- Post-subscription stability: two negative reviews say that after subscribing to unlimited use, photos couldn't be taken and analysis had bugs (2026-09-26, 11-03), which may affect renewals.
- Free-chart ranking is sliding (112 → 155); the long-tail traffic from the September hit video may be fading, and new videos mostly get only a few hundred to a few thousand views.
- Whether the English version can be copied: @vendly.en and GB ads have only just started, and the US store has just 2 ratings.
- Whether Vinted will build its own photo-to-listing generation feature: none found so far, but if it does, apps like this will be hit hard.
