Colombians search "Seekee" on the App Store and find an app that only shows posters: a hit with no iPhone version, feeding eight same-named clones
What it is An iPhone app borrowing the name of Seekee, a hit Android piracy app. The store listing says "AI movie picks by mood", but opening it shows only posters, trailers and ads. You can't actually watch anything.
Why it took off The real Seekee is known across Latin America, yet the official side says the iOS version is still in development. iPhone users searching "seekee" on the App Store found this app with the name spelled exactly right, in Spanish, Portuguese and English localizations, just as an earlier clone was pulled. It captured that search traffic.
DHow you could play it Stop making Seekee clones. Build a clearly labeled, legitimate Spanish-language free movie and series app or watchlist. Go after the entertainment charts in small Latin American countries first, and catch the people hunting for free Spanish shows on iPhone.

There's an App Store app called "Seekee ~ películas y series" by an individual developer account. Launched in Jul 21, it had collected 5,056 ratings by Nov 6, adding more than 90 a day this week. It hit #25 on the Honduras overall free chart and #7 on the Colombia entertainment chart. It can't play any movies. It grew because Seekee, a free movie app with 120M installs across Latin America, only shipped on Android. iPhone users searched the App Store for the name and found this one. The tactic is worth learning, but the name is already crowded, so don't copy it.
"No Narcos, no Rosario Tijeras"
In Oct 5, a Colombian user gave it 1 star: "Don't like it. It's in English, and there's no Rosario Tijeras." Five days later another: "It only shows unrelated films, and there's no El patrón del mal." Both are hit local Colombian series.
That month the Colombian store reviews were nearly unanimous: "It only shows the cover, no content" (10-14), "It says there are movies, but they're all trailers" (10-21), "Movies never load, only trailers, and all in English" (10-21). The Sep 24 review said it most clearly: "Don't pretend. You can't watch anything, just covers. It's nothing like the original app."
"The original app" means the Android Seekee.
What it is
On its store page it's called "Seekee Movie Match": tell the AI your mood, how much time you have and who you're watching with, and it recommends movies. Rated 4+, free, no in-app purchases, English-only interface, and the privacy policy sits on a blogspot page named moodscreen. It hasn't been updated since the Aug 5 release, version 2.0.
What users see when they open it, per the reviews, is movie posters, info and trailers. The "mood-based picks" wrapper is there to pass review. Users don't care about it. They want to watch movies, and it doesn't let them.
The name changes by region: Spanish-speaking markets get "Seekee ~ películas y series" (movies and series), Brazil and Portugal get "Seekee ~ Filmes e Séries", the US store gets "Seekee : Movie Box & TV Shows". One name piggybacks two piracy brands at once. The money comes from ads: the privacy label lists "third-party ads" and "tracking with device identifiers", and it has never made the Top Grossing chart in any country.
Why now: the real one says "iOS version still in development"
The real Seekee is an "AI search and assistant" made by Seekee Ltd, nominally a browser, but in practice it streams movies, sports and anime for free. On Google Play it has 120M installs and is adding about 1.76M a week (Google Play, 11-06). TorrentFreak wrote in April 2025 that it was a "piracy magnet", and Argentina's Infobae and El Destape also covered it. Its official website FAQ says it mainly runs on Android for now, with an iOS version in development.
So iPhone users in Latin America have to find it themselves. Instagram and TikTok are full of "how to install Seekee on iPhone" tutorials walking viewers through "open the App Store, search SEEKEE, tap Get". One Instagram video at the time linked to a different app, "Seekee buscador de IA", which has since been pulled. The tutorials remain, and the "search SEEKEE" step remains, so the traffic flows to whichever clone is still alive. TikTok even has a hashtag asking why Seekee can no longer be found on the App Store.
It ranks #2 to #4 for "seekee" searches in the Mexico, Colombia and US stores (App Store search, 11-06). We found no sign of it buying ads or working with creators. Nobody has mentioned it on X in the past two months.
Metric
| Metric | Metric | Sources |

The growth doesn't come from one big country but from two dozen small Latin American markets each taking a bite. Honduras had only 207 ratings, and in one week 43 of them pushed it into the entertainment chart at #2. Charting brought more exposure.
It has 4.2 ratings, but most of the reviews that include text are 1 stars. Ratings with no text skew noticeably high, which may point to an in-app rating prompt (inference, not verified).
Who it's competing with
| Product | Status | Compared with alternatives |
|---|---|---|
| Seekee - AI Search & Assistant(Seekee Ltd) | Android, 120M installs, +1.76M in a week | The real one. It actually streams; no iOS version |
| Seekee : Películas y Series(Muhammad Hamza Sajjad) | iOS, listed 2026-01-20, 41,204 ratings, +1,730 in a week | The biggest Seekee clone, half a year older and eight times larger; its weekly gain in Colombia is about the same as this one's (197 vs 187) |
| Seekee: Ai Search & Ai Tools(Seekee Verge) | iOS, listed 2026-06, 335 ratings | Copies the official "AI search" pitch, doesn't advertise movies, small volume |
| Sekeee, Seekee : Movies & TV Shows, Seekee - Watch Movies, TV, Drama and others | iOS, listed between 4 and August, a few to several hundred ratings each | Same play, none of them took off |
| Seeker : Watch Movies,TV drama | iOS, listed 2025-08, 12,634 ratings, now +13 a week | The previous wave of near-name clones, already past its peak |
| Movie Box, Xzuper TV | iOS, listed 2026-07, 11,212 / 5,109 ratings | Same approach, piggybacking on MovieBox and Xuper TV |
| Netflix, ViX, Tubi | Legitimate | Competing for people who will pay for legal viewing |
Search "seekee" in the App Store and you'll find at least 8 apps with the same or near-identical name. This one ranks #2 because of two things: its name matches how users actually search ("Seekee" plus "movies and series"), and it has versions in Spanish, Portuguese and English. It also launched right after the previous lookalike got pulled, so it picked up the traffic that was left behind. Functionally, it's no different from the others.
How many people know about it
The app itself hasn't been covered and its revenue isn't public. But the Seekee brand has been written about in Latin American media for a year, and the "iPhone stand-in for Android pirate apps" playbook has been used by plenty of people: Seekee, MovieBox and Xuper TV each have their own string of lookalikes. A lot of people know how this business works.
If it were you
Bottom line: don't copy it. The word "Seekee" already has one 40k-rated lookalike ahead of this one and six or seven more with the same name behind it. The play itself relies on misleading users and could be pulled at any time for using someone else's name. And the moment the real Seekee ships an iOS version, the traffic is gone that same day. What's worth taking away is the method for spotting traffic gaps, and the review line "no hay The Boss of Evil" (no sign of the show).
Who it's for: teams that can license Spanish-language content legitimately or get it free (older shows, local series, public-domain films, FAST channels), or people already building catalog or watchlist apps who want cheap search traffic.
Who it's not for: anyone who wants to build yet another Seekee lookalike. A ninth same-name app won't outrank the ones ahead of it, and what it earns is cheap ads from small Latin American markets.
How to do it: build a legitimate product that says clearly what it is, and catch the people searching for "free Spanish movies and shows on iPhone." The reviews already say what they want: a Spanish interface, local series, and something that actually plays. There's a lot of free, ad-supported legitimate content locally that can be aggregated (for example, the official YouTube channels of TV networks and free streaming channels). Turn it into an index of "where to watch Colombian and Mexican shows for free," with a name that matches how users search, but don't pose as someone else.
How to get users: mostly App Store search. Start in small storefronts with low chart thresholds, like Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Angola, where a few dozen ratings a day can put you near the top of Entertainment. Then go to the TikTok and YouTube tutorials titled "how to install Seekee on iPhone" and reply to people who can't find it, pointing out other ways to watch.
When to move: Seekee has said its iOS version is in development. The moment it ships, this search traffic goes back to the real app and every lookalike drops to zero together. There's no way to predict the timing, so the only option is to act now.
Signs you've misread this: ① a month or two from now it and the bigger lookalike are both still up and growth hasn't dropped, which would mean Apple isn't policing names like this and the search traffic lasts longer than it looks; ② it reaches the Top Grossing chart in some storefront, which would mean the in-app purchase path actually brings in money; ③ a legitimate free Spanish-language movie and TV app ranks near the top for "seekee" in Latin America and gets real volume, which would mean "catching legitimately" works and is worth doing right away.

Seekee ~ películas y series (iOS id6790784680) research report
Date 2026-11-06. Data sources: our own appstore / googleplay libraries (from 2026-10-28), iTunes lookup/search API, App Store pages and review RSS, Jina web search, TikHub, x-radar.
One line
This is a lookalike that grabs the "Seekee" name in the App Store. The store description says "AI recommends movies by mood, runtime and who you're watching with," but in practice it only shows posters and trailers and can't play anything. It catches brand-search traffic meant for the Android hit Seekee (Seekee Ltd, 120M installs on Google Play). The official Seekee has no iOS version, so Latin American users pointed there by TikTok and Instagram tutorials search "SEEKEE" in the App Store and land on lookalikes like this one. Monetization is ads (the privacy label declares third-party ads and device-ID tracking).
1. Basic data
- The developer is Dravo Mylen (an individual account with only these 1 apps, developer id6790784682). It launched on 2026-07-21 as v1.0,2026-08-05, was updated to v2.0, and hasn't been updated since (appstore library). 28.8 MB, 4+, English-only interface, free, no in-app purchases, and it has never charted on any top-grossing list.
- Renamed by region (appstore library + iTunes lookup): the Spanish-speaking storefronts use "Seekee ~ películas y series", Brazil and Portugal use "Seekee ~ Filmes e Séries", and the US, Angola and Uruguay use "Seekee : Movie Box & TV Shows". One name borrows from both Seekee and MovieBox. (Seekee's official static assets are hosted on the aoneroom.com domain, which MovieBox also uses, so the two are probably run by the same operator. Not verified.) Subtitle: "Movie Box & TV Shows". The privacy policy is hosted on moodscreen.blogspot.com.
- Rating growth (appstore library, daily_all_countries): cumulative ratings across all storefronts went from 4,355 (10-28) to 5,056 (11-06). Daily new ratings rose from 46–47 to 90–96, and +568 over the last 7 days. The US storefront has another 773 ratings (lookup), which aren't included in the library total.
- Country breakdown (appstore library app_profile, 11-06): Colombia 1,761 (7 days, +187, Top Free overall #62, Entertainment #7), Mexico 1,094 (+102, Entertainment #31), Brazil 744 (+89), Honduras 207 (+43, Top Free overall #25, Entertainment #2), Argentina 179, Guatemala/Peru 144 each, Angola 138 (overall chart #65, Entertainment #6)... charted in 21–24 stores a day. The App Store page shows Colombia Entertainment chart #5 as of 11-06.
Ratings with stars but no text look inflated, which suggests an in-app rating prompt (not verified).
Correction to the recall card: the recall said this is "a pirate streaming gateway that is actually an embedded web browser," and that the developer has 6758005359, 6782837151 and other lookalikes under their name. Checking this, neither claim holds up: user reviews consistently say it only has posters and trailers and can't play films. 6758005359's developer is Muhammad Hamza Sajjad, 6782837151 is by Seekee Verge Co., Ltd, and Dravo Mylen's account has only these 1 apps. The pirated-content app is the official Android Seekee, not this iOS app.
2. Competitors: who else is doing the same thing
"The same thing" has two layers: what users think they're looking for (Seekee, for free movies), and what the app actually does (capturing Seekee brand-name search in the App Store).
| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seekee - AI Search & Assistant(com.enzo.paulo,Seekee Ltd) | Android | Around 2024-12 | 120,280,194 installs, +7 in 1.76 days (Google Play library) | The real app, packaged as an AI browser, streams pirated movies, sports and anime. Its official FAQ says "currently mainly Android; iOS version in development." |
| Seekee : Películas y Series(id6758005359,Muhammad Hamza Sajjad) | iOS | 2026-01-20 | 41,204 ratings across all storefronts, +7 in 1,730 days; Mexico 11,111, Brazil 10,378 | The largest Seekee lookalike, launched half a year earlier. This app's 7-day gain (187) is already close to its own (197) |
| Seekee: Ai Search & Ai Tools(id6782837151,Seekee Verge Co., Ltd) | iOS | 2026-06-25 | 335 ratings, charted in 30 storefronts | Name and description copy the official "AI search + cloud drive" pitch, with questionable backing. Doesn't target movies, so volume is small |
| Sekeee / Seekee : Movies & TV Shows / Seekee - Watch Movies,TV,Drama / Seekee - Películas y Series(KM Fabrics) | iOS | 2026-04 to 08 | 3–291 ratings each | The same lookalike playbook, and neither has gained traction |
| Seeker : Watch Movies,TV drama(Aria Bennett) | iOS | 2025-08 | 12,634 ratings, now only +13 in the last 7 days | The previous wave of near-name clones, already past its peak |
| Movie Box : Movies & TV Series(Rayyan Ansari) / Xzuper TV(Selik Morav) | iOS | 2026-07 | 11,212 / 5,109 rating | Same period, same "borrow a pirate app's name for an iPhone stand-in" play, this time riding MovieBox and Xuper TV |
| Netflix / Tubi / ViX | iOS and more | Already existed | Top players | Legitimate; the lookalike competes for users who don't want to pay and are searching for pirated content |
Takeaway: plenty of people are doing this. Searching "seekee" in the App Store alone turns up more than 8 same-name or near-identical lookalikes. This app is the second largest of them, only 3.5 months old, and among the fastest growing.
3. Growth tactics (where users come from)
- Brand-name search capture (confirmed): the official Seekee has no iOS version (seekeeapp.net FAQ). Searching "seekee" in the Mexico, Colombia and US storefronts puts it at #2–4 (iTunes search API, 11-06). Reviews like "nada que ver con la app original" and "En Apple no funciona" show that users are looking for the Android Seekee.
- Others' "how to get Seekee on iPhone" content (confirmed to exist, not paid for by this app): Instagram @lagranleidy's reel walks through "open App Store → search SEEKEE → Get." The link it attached at the time was id6746187834, "Seekee buscador de IA," which has since been removed (not found in lookup). TikTok has topic pages such as "cómo descargar seekee en la app store" and "por qué ya no aparece seekee en la App Store," and YouTube has many Seekee tutorials. Once the earlier lookalike was removed, the "search SEEKEE" habit remained, and the traffic moved to whichever lookalike was still live. A TikHub search for "seekee iphone" returned 0 results, consistent with earlier research showing Seekee being blocked on TikTok.
- Backed by the real app's popularity (confirmed): the Android Seekee has 120M installs and adds about 1.76M a week (googleplay library). The press has covered it repeatedly: TorrentFreak 2025-04, "Seekee Browser App is a Magnet for Movie, TV Show, and Anime Pirates"; Infobae 2025-04-29; El Destape and others. The demand from iPhone users in Latin America comes from here.
- Multi-language rename + small-market chart gaming (confirmed): Spanish, Portuguese and English names, each one aimed at Brazilian and US Spanish-speaking users. Small markets like Honduras, Angola and Nicaragua have low charting thresholds: a few dozen ratings a day can push it into the top 10 of Entertainment, and charting brings a bit more exposure.
- Rating prompt (inferred, not verified): text reviews are about 90% one-star, yet the average score is 4.2. Star-only ratings are clearly skewed positive.
- No evidence it runs its own paid acquisition, influencer deals or X discussion (x-radar searched "seekee" 0 times over the last ~60 days).
Where the money comes from: no in-app purchases, no Top Grossing charting. The privacy labels declare "data used to track you: Identifiers" and "third-party advertising: Device ID", so it runs on ads (probably AdMob or similar). Users arrive, realize they've been misled, and delete the app; each user contributes only a few ad impressions. But acquisition costs are close to 0, so as long as search ranking holds, revenue keeps coming.
4. Why it took off
- Demand spillover: the real Seekee has 120M installs on Android, and the official team has said there is no iOS version. Latin American iPhone users keep searching "Seekee" in the App Store, and that demand finds this app on its own.
- Precise naming: the title is literally "Seekee ~ películas y series", which matches what users have in their heads (Seekee for movies and TV shows). The localized names also catch Portuguese and English searchers.
- The earlier clones got pulled, leaving room: the id6746187834 in the tutorial no longer exists. Among the clones published in the same batch in July, this one's growth rate ranks near the top.
- The shell passes review: the description presents it as a legit "AI mood-based movie picker" rated 4+, and it only shows TMDB-style posters and YouTube trailers. No pirated content, so it survives on the store.
- Very low cost: no updates for 3 months after launch, no in-app purchases, no operations. It lives purely on search traffic and ads.
5. Differentiation
The product itself has no differentiation: "pick by mood / runtime / who you're watching with" is just a shell to get past review, and users don't care about it. Compared with the other Seekee clones, its only difference is that naming and localization are more granular (three name variants in Spanish, Portuguese and English, with the English one also riding MovieBox), and its launch timing caught the earlier clones being pulled. Growth comes from those two things, not from features.
6. Visibility and copycats
- Revenue isn't public, and this app itself hasn't been covered by media or on X. But the Seekee brand has been widely reported in Latin American media and on TorrentFreak, and the "App Store stand-in for popular pirate apps" playbook is already crowded: at least 8 clones share the name, plus products on the same model like Movie Box, Xzuper TV, Flujo TV and Fuevana.
- Followers: Seekee : Películas y Series (earlier, and bigger), Sekeee : Movies, TV Shows, Seekee : Movies & TV Shows (Huzaifa Qamar), Seekee - Watch Movies, TV, Drama (Sagar Parki, 08-06), Seekee - Películas y Series (KM Fabrics), Seekee: Ai Search & Ai Tools (Seekee Verge).
7. What to take from it / Risks
- What to take: "a hit app has no iOS version" is itself a traffic gap you can measure. Look for apps that surge on Google Play with no official App Store version, then check what the App Store returns for that name. Set separate localized names per region, and first break into the Entertainment chart in low-threshold small markets.
- Risks: this is trademark misuse plus misleading users. Apple could pull it at any time under 4.1 (copycat) or 5.2 (IP), and traffic vanishes the moment the official iOS app arrives. Piled-up bad reviews also drag down search ranking. A single app lasts maybe a few months, so the playbook only works by constantly launching new clones.
8. Uncertain
- Ad revenue amount and which ad network is used (unverified); whether the rating prompt exists (inferred).
- Whether Muhammad Hamza Sajjad, Rayyan Ansari, Selik Morav and these clones are run by the same team (similar naming style and launch timing, no direct evidence).
- Whether the official Seekee will ship an iOS version (the website only says it's in development).
