One rating, charted in 42 countries: the short-drama app Pervanex is one shell in a paid-acquisition playbook
What it is An English vertical short-drama app. The first episodes are free, then you unlock with coins or subscribe ($49.99 a month). The shows are licensed content it bought.
Why it took off Feed ads plus a 'one show, one webpage' landing page pull in paying users. It targets cheap-ad small countries, and a few big in-app purchases push it up the entertainment Top Grossing charts. Downloads are actually low.
DHow to play it Don't just copy the shell. Teams already running paid-content going-global can borrow two moves: one piece of content, one W2A landing page with ads, and test payback in the first week in small markets like Jordan or the Philippines.

A company registered in Kowloon City, Hong Kong, in Jul 2026 7. In Aug 17 it launched an English short-drama app, and by Nov 4 it had reached the App Store Top Grossing charts in 42 countries, with one one-star US rating. Pervanex didn't win on the product. It is one piece of China's short-drama 'shell pack' playbook: bought catalogs, feed ads, web landing pages, and cheap-acquisition small countries. Below, we lay out how this playbook works, where the money comes from, and why it's not an opportunity a small team should chase.
A show 'seven years late'
Open w2a.plotsnax.com and the whole page is one show: 'Seven Years Too Late'. The blurb reads: 'They married for business. She gave him seven years of tenderness and love, but he stayed cold and they slept in separate rooms. Her parents died, the family went bankrupt, and he ignored it all. Later she was diagnosed with a terminal illness, finally accepted that his heart would never warm, and left him. He didn't care, until he learned the truth of her death.' Below it, a 'Hot' tag.
The 'w2a' in the domain is web-to-app: feed ads on Facebook and TikTok link here, where you watch the first episodes on the web. If you get hooked, you jump to the App Store to download and pay to unlock the rest.
The same show was cut into episodes and posted on TikTok. In Nov 4, an account called vaporreelhub_ca posted dozens of clips a day titled 'Seven Years Too Late.EP-15', 'EP-47', 'EP-54', each getting tens to two hundred views. Another account, xsasd01134, started posting in October with titles like 'Watch→[12705] Seven Years Too Late EP01', meaning search the episode code 12705 in an app to watch the full series (TikTok, 11-06). The show is also on DramaBox and NetShort. The content isn't Pervanex's; it's licensed material anyone can buy.
What it is
An English vertical short-drama app: divorce, domineering CEOs, revenge, werewolves, vampires, one to two minutes per episode. The first episodes are free, then you unlock with coins or subscribe. English only, 17+, iPhone package 119 MB (App Store US, 11-06).
开发者 HONG KONG FORCE MATRIX NETWORK TECHNOLOGY LIMITED(香港原力矩陣網絡科技有限公司),商业登记 2026-07-07 成立,名下只有这一个 App。它原来叫 PlotSnax,波兰区的商店页和开发者官网 plotsnax.com 还是这个名字,官网首页是没改完的模板文案「Hi, I'm -- app / What Is Dope App?」。10 月 21 日的 1.0.2 版,更新说明只有两个词:「Fix Bug」。

Source: App Store charts by store. The strong ranks are all in the Entertainment category's Top Grossing chart, and almost all in small countries: #11 in Mauritius, #14 in Pakistan, #16 in Bermuda, #17 in Jordan, #23 in Ukraine and Slovenia, #24 in Armenia and Luxembourg. Overall Top Grossing appearances only came in Jordan (best 128) and the Philippines (171). Big markets only grazed the chart: US Entertainment Top Grossing 182–192, UK 176, Germany 181.
On the other side, ratings across all stores combined total 2, with 0 new in the last 7 days; on the Top Free chart it only reached #40–50 in tiny stores like Grenada, Guyana, and the British Virgin Islands.
Put these numbers together and the picture is clear: few people download it, but some of those who do spend big. Entertainment Top Grossing in small countries has a low bar, and a few people buying weekly passes can get it onto the chart. Going from 10 to 42 countries in a week isn't word of mouth spreading; it looks more like ads switched on country by country. (Inference: we found no ads for it in Meta's or TikTok's public ad libraries, but not finding them doesn't mean none were run.)
Where the money comes from: $49.99 a month
The in-app purchase list on the store page (US, 11-06): coins $9.99, $19.99, $29.99, $59.99; 'weekly coin packs' $29.99, $39.99, $49.99, $99.99; subscription $99.99. The description ends with auto-renewal terms: 'Continuous Monthly Subscription… $49.99/month.'
This is the standard short-drama price, and it's on the high side. The paid-acquisition logic: a user comes in, and the money they pay in the first day or week has to cover the cost of the ad that brought them in. So it picks countries that meet three conditions: cheap ads, widespread Apple payments, and audiences who watch English content. Jordan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Mauritius, Eastern Europe. The US, where big brands have already pushed ad prices up, is out of reach, and it hasn't tried.
On the web side, two more sites, pervanexdrama.com and pervanexshort.com, offer subscriptions and free tiers and can take payment directly on the web, bypassing Apple's commission. Each show on the sites is labeled with 80,000 to over 100,000 views, and its 'recommended' counts are mostly exactly 60 (web, 11-06), which looks like template filler.
How big the revenue is can't be estimated from outside.
Its peers aren't DramaBox; they're dozens of shells just like it
The leading short-drama brands are orders of magnitude bigger: DramaBox has about 890k ratings in one store, charts in 113 stores, and its best overall Top Grossing rank is #7; GoodShort has about 540k, ReelShort about 520k, and NetShort, DramaWave, and ShortMax each have 180k to 240k (App Store, 11-06). They have original shows, brands, and ad budgets across big markets.
The ones really like Pervanex are a batch of short-drama packs from 2026, all called 'HONG KONG [something] NETWORK TECHNOLOGY LIMITED':
| App | Launched | Countries charted | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Felveria(HONG KONG TREND BEAT) | 2026-06-30 | 65 | 6 |
| Novique(Hong Kong Xingfeng) | 2026-05-31 | 57 | 5 |
| Fandorix(HONG KONG CLOUDPEAK STRATEGY) | 2026-09-10 | 50 | 2 |
| RevoDrama | 2026-08-11 | 50 | 2 |
| Epilora | 2026-08-06 | 32 | 1 |
| Miralune(HONG KONG JOYSHOW PEAKS) | — | 16 | 0 |
Source: App Store by store, 11-06. Also Pivexa, PlotJoy, Ziptale, Cinerra, Varonexa, Flikso… names that look randomly generated.
A few clues show they're one operation: Pervanex's store page 'Customers also bought' section recommends Novique, Zorela, and Miralune; Novique's description has subscription terms word for word the same as Pervanex's, '$49.99/month'; Miralune lists $14.99 a week. In May, TikTok clip accounts were already posting 'Download the Veloria app, search for HB20209': another shell, same playbook. Whether they share one publisher is unconfirmed (inference).
So asking 'who is copying it' makes no sense: it is itself one of dozens of copies of a template.
Why one company per app
Apple's review guidelines 4.3 prohibit 'duplicate apps', and an account that uploads a pile of reskinned apps gets banned. So each app is registered under a new Hong Kong company with a new name, then listed, advertised, and tested for payback. When an app gets banned, dies, or can't recoup ad costs, the next one replaces it. Whether one app gets ratings or how long it lasts barely matters. PlotSnax renaming itself Pervanex is probably for the same reason (inference).
On the product there is no real difference. The catalog overlaps with DramaBox and NetShort, the interface and website are templates, and the descriptions are boilerplate. Its only 'differentiation' is in distribution: a new entity, a new bundle ID, and ads in small countries. That can get it on charts, but it isn't a moat.
Is anyone talking about it
Almost no one. Aside from aggregator sites that scrape the charts, searching turns up no press coverage, no discussion on X, no Reddit threads (only people asking for show titles on r/HelpMeFind), and no developers bragging about revenue. The PlotSnax Facebook page has 14 followers, and its listed address is '1287 Example Avenue, Sandton.'
Few people know about it, but that's not good news: the short-drama going-global track has been crowded since 2023.
If it were you
Verdict: Don't follow. Pervanex reached charts in 42 countries not because of a good product, but because of a whole short-drama export pipeline: buy catalogs, cut creatives, open entities, run ads by country, calculate first-week payback. That pipeline already has dozens of identical shells and six or seven big brands. Another one under a new name is just the Nth+1 copy.
Who it's for: Companies already doing short drama, web fiction, or other paid content going global, with an ad team and a payback model. Worth studying for two moves: 'testing payback on small-country charts' and 'one show, one landing page.'
Who it's not for: Indie developers and small teams without an ad budget. In this business the product is nearly worthless; what matters is ad spend and the ability to run the numbers. Add Apple's 4.3 ban risk, and one person can't absorb it.
How to do it: If you run another paid-content app, three moves are worth borrowing:
- One show, one W2A page. Use one show, one novel, or the opening of one story as the landing page for feed ads, then move the hooked viewers to the app or web to pay.
- Test payback in small countries first. In markets like Jordan, the Philippines, Pakistan, or Eastern Europe, ads are cheap and the Top Grossing bar is low. Spend a small budget to see whether first-week payments cover acquisition cost before deciding whether to enter the US.
- Buy content, don't make it. Non-exclusive licensed catalogs can be listed directly and cut straight into ad creatives. Put your effort into the paywall and the creatives.
How to acquire users: Its playbook is feed ads plus clip accounts: one show cut into dozens of clips, ending with 'search code 12705 to watch the full series.' Note that this approach needs a budget you can spend on testing. Without one, a single clip gets only tens to hundreds of views and brings in no volume.
When the window is open: This window doesn't depend on timing; it depends on Apple. As long as 'new entity, reskinned app' still passes review, these shells will keep appearing. Once Apple cracks down on short-drama packs as a group, the window closes.
Signs this read is wrong: ① Pervanex or a similar shell starts collecting thousands of genuine ratings and enters a major market's overall Top Grossing chart, showing these shells are building brands, not just testing ads; ② an indie developer, using their own content rather than paid acquisition, gets a short-drama or interactive-story app onto Top Grossing charts in dozens of countries, showing the path leaves room for small teams; ③ conversely, if a batch of these shells is pulled from the store together within a month or two, the playbook itself is nearing its end.

- Confirmed W2A web landing page (feeds paid social ads): w2a.plotsnax.com is a landing page for a single series, *Seven Years Too Late*. There are also pervanexdrama.com and pervanexshort.com, two web sites with subscriptions.
- Inferred Paid acquisition (Meta/TikTok feed ads, run by country): 0 ratings, almost never in Top Free, no organic discussion at all, yet 30 it charts in several stores at once, growing from 10 to 42 stores in a week. Our ad library doesn't track it.

One line
Pervanex is an English-language vertical micro-drama app, built by a Hong Kong shell company that was registered recently by 2026-07-07. It's making money not because of the product, but because of the sock-puppet account network + paid acquisition + web-to-app (W2A) landing pages + licensed content library that are common in China's short-drama going-global playbook. Its Top Grossing ranking comes from the low entry bar in small storefronts, where a modest number of paying users from ads is enough to chart. It doesn't show organic growth.
Basic facts
- 开发者:HONG KONG FORCE MATRIX NETWORK TECHNOLOGY LIMITED(香港原力矩陣網絡科技有限公司),商业登记号 80785515,2026-07-07 成立,九龙城区(hkregister、ltddir)。名下只有这一个 App(iTunes lookup artistId 6790484533)。
- Listed 2026-08-17. Current version 1.0.2 (2026-10-21, release notes just say "Fix Bug"). Rated 17+, English only, 119 MB, free to download with in-app purchases (iTunes lookup, 2026-11-06).
- Renamed: Exa and Jina found the App Store Poland page
apps.apple.com/pl/app/plotsnax/id6791053044, which describes it as "PlotSnax is your destination…". The developer's site is plotsnax.com, and its homepage still has template copy ("Hi, I'm -- app / What Is Dope App?"). So it was originally PlotSnax, renamed to Pervanex, and the website was built from a template. - Ratings: 1 in the US store, 1.0 stars; 0 in other stores (iTunes lookup 2026-11-06). Across all stores in our database, the total peaks at 2 ratings, with 0 new in the last 7 days.
- No Google Play version (googleplay database lookup by name and developer found nothing).

| 11-01 | 19 | 11 |
| 11-03 | 36 | 16 |
| 11-04 | 42 | 24 |
| 11-06 | 34 | 21 |
- All the good ranks are in small-country Entertainment grossing charts: Mauritius 11, Pakistan 14, Bermuda 16, Jordan 17, Ukraine 23, Slovenia 23, Armenia 24, Luxembourg 24, Brunei 25, Tanzania 27. Overall Top Grossing has only reached Jordan (best 128), Mauritius, Bermuda, Pakistan, and the Philippines (171).
- The big markets are barely in range: US Entertainment grossing 182–192, UK 176, Germany 181, South Korea 189, Canada 107, Australia 119.
- Top Free only reached 42–53 in tiny markets like Grenada, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, and Guyana.
- Takeaway: Charting in grossing means people are paying, but Entertainment grossing in small countries has a low bar, and a few weekly-pass or coin-pack purchases can chart. 0 ratings plus almost no Top Free presence means tiny downloads, with revenue concentrated in a few paying users brought in by ads.
Competitors
Leaders (real brands, far bigger), peak rating counts from the appstore database:
- DramaBox (STORYMATRIX, 2023-04): about 890K ratings, charted in 113 stores, best overall Top Grossing #7.
- GoodShort (New Reading, 2023-06): about 540K. ReelShort (NewLeaf/Maple Interactive, 2022-08): about 520K. NetShort (2024-07): about 240K. DramaWave (Kunlun Skywork, 2024-09): about 200K. ShortMax (2023-09): about 180K.
Sockpuppet apps using the same playbook (these are its real peers): launched 2026 years ago, developers are companies like "HONG KONG XX NETWORK TECHNOLOGY LIMITED", charted in Entertainment grossing across several stores, with single-digit ratings. Our database turned up twenty to thirty in one search:
- Felveria (HONG KONG TREND BEAT…, 2026-06-30): charted in 65 stores, 6 ratings, best overall Top Grossing 63
- Novique (Hong Kong Xingfeng…, 2026-05-31): 57 stores, 5 ratings, overall 56
- Fandorix (HONG KONG CLOUDPEAK STRATEGY…, 2026-09-10): 50 stores, 2 ratings
- RevoDrama (Starnique, 2026-08-11): 50 stores, 2 ratings
- Epilora (Quick Take Media, 2026-08-06): 32 stores, 1 ratings
- Pivexa (HONG KONG YINLI BOYING…): 18 stores, 1 ratings; PlotJoy (HONG KONG CREATIVE HIVE…): 17 stores, 3 ratings; Miralune (HONG KONG JOYSHOW PEAKS…): 16 stores, 0 ratings; Ziptale, Cinerra, Varonexa, Loxarien, Novyronst, Flikso, and more.
- The App Store "Customers also bought" section recommends Novique, Zorela, and Miralune (the see-all page at apps.apple.com/bg). That suggests the people who buy it are the same people who buy these sockpuppet apps, meaning the ad audiences overlap.
So "is anyone copying it?" is the wrong question. It's one of dozens of identical apps in this playbook.
Where users come from (growth levers)
- W2A landing page (confirmed):
w2a.plotsnax.comopens to a landing page for one series, *Seven Years Too Late* (synopsis + "Hot"). "W2A" means web-to-app: Meta or TikTok feed ads link to a page where you watch the first few episodes of a series, then get sent to the App Store to pay. There are also two web sites, pervanexdrama.com and pervanexshort.com (with "Subscribe", "Free plan", and visitor UIDs), which handle web payments and also serve as landing pages. - Paid acquisition (strong inference): 0 ratings, almost never in Top Free, and absent from organic search (no real mentions of Pervanex content on X or in TikTok search). Yet its grossing rank appears in 30 stores at once, growing from 10 to 42 stores in a week. That looks like country-by-country ad campaigns, not word of mouth. Our Meta and TikTok ad libraries only track toolmaker advertisers on our list, so they don't show it. How much was spent is unverified.
- Licensed library + clip traffic (inferred): Titles on its site (*Seven Years Too Late*, *They Called Her Worthless, She Is the Dragon Sovereign*, and others) also appear on DramaBox, NetShort, and WinkNovel (DramaBox, NetShort, reelfren/winknovel). TikTok has many clip accounts with "link in bio / Download the XX app" posts; one clip account was found driving traffic to another sockpuppet, Veloria. This suggests the content was bought in bulk as non-exclusive licenses from Chinese rights holders, and the footage can be cut straight into ads.
- Not found: press coverage, big X accounts, Reddit discussion (Reddit only has people searching for titles on r/HelpMeFind), TrustMRR, or founders posting revenue. The PlotSnax Facebook page has 14 followers and a fake address ("1287 Example Avenue, Sandton").
Where the money comes from
The standard short-drama model: first few episodes free, then unlock per episode with coins or buy a weekly/monthly pass (the app is an 17+ in-app purchase model, while the web versions use subscriptions). Paid acquisition ROI depends on recovering the spend from day-one and week-one payments, so pick small countries with cheap user acquisition, widespread Apple Pay, and English-speaking audiences (Jordan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Mauritius, Eastern Europe). When a shell app dies, gets banned, or its ROI drops, you swap in the next app from a freshly registered Hong Kong company, so how long any one app lasts or what its rating is doesn't matter.
Differentiation
No product differentiation: The content overlaps with the leaders and with other sockpuppets. The UI and website are templates, and the descriptions are boilerplate. The only "difference" is in distribution: a new company, a new app name, and a mix of small-country ad campaigns, used to spread the risk of Apple bans (4.3 duplicate apps) and to avoid the high acquisition costs of big markets where brands compete. That's why it charts, but it's not a moat.
Visibility
Almost nobody knows about it. Apart from automated chart aggregators (storeintel, appwinners, chartoo, mwm.ai), there's no press, X, or TikTok discussion. But the short-drama-going-global space itself is already crowded.
What to borrow
- Use W2A landing pages (one page per series) to feed feed ads, then send users to the app or a web subscription.
- Test ROI in small countries where the grossing bar is low before going into big markets.
- Don't make content yourself. Buy non-exclusive licenses from libraries, and put the effort into ad creatives and paywall design.
- Run the same code under several company entities and several apps to hedge against review and ban risk (watch the risks under Apple's 4.3 / 5.6 rules).
Unknowns
- Which ad platforms it actually uses and how much it spends (our ad library doesn't track it; the Meta Ad Library web page doesn't confirm it).
- Revenue scale: the amounts behind tens of ranks in small-country grossing charts are small, and can't be estimated. Third-party estimates (storeintel) require a login.
- Who the parent company is. Whether Felveria, Novique, and the others come from the same publisher: so far there's only naming and "Customers also bought" as circumstantial evidence, nothing confirmed.
