A handful of TikTok accounts with a few dozen followers pushed a Quran app with 12 ratings to #2 in Jordan's Top Grossing: Quranova and the creator network behind it
What it is A subscription app for Muslims: ask AI questions about faith and get answers with citations from the Quran and hadith, plus prayer times, Quran reading, a dhikr counter and a small lamp that lights up with each daily check-in, for $59.99 a year.
Why it took off The developer has a 8x-owned network of amateur creators with 250k followers, so several small accounts with a few dozen followers each post one video a day in Gulf Arabic. On top of that, the "reference" category charts in Jordan, Israel and Pakistan are easy to crack, and a few annual subscriptions are enough to reach the top ten. The actual scale is small: 12 ratings worldwide, and only 7 more in 1 days.
CHow you could follow Don't build another AI Quran Q&A; if you do, pick the languages and audiences still open (e.g. Malay, Indonesian women, Ramadan check-ins), and copy its amateur daily-posting template: pain-point openers, "this app changed my life," and comment keywords that link to the app. Aim for the 2027 Ramadan.

Quranova is a subscription app that answers Islam questions with AI and cites a Quran verse or hadith source for every statement. It has only 12 iOS ratings globally, yet in early November it cracked the Reference category charts in 19 countries. The product itself isn't worth copying; a dozen similar apps have appeared in the past year. What's worth watching is the developer: a company that sells "250k amateur creators" distribution and ran its own playbook on its own app. Below: what it is, how the charts moved, and whether you can use this playbook.
a 8528-view video
On Oct 30, a TikTok account called learn_with_nawal posted a video with Saudi-accented Arabic subtitles: "With Quranova I started keeping some small habits that bring me closer to God." It got 8528 views (TikTok, 11-06 scrape). The account had 75 followers, and from Oct 27 it posted daily, nearly every one mentioning Quranova: a POV of "I was scrolling and then prayer time came," a Quran verse lock-screen widget, "the ninety-nine names of God." Its Nov 4 post was more direct:
اشتراكاتنا كثيرة، بس لا ننسى نستثمر في آخرتنا كمان —— We subscribe to plenty of things; let's not forget to invest in the hereafter too.
Two other accounts were doing the same thing at the same time: journeywithhemi (145 followers), opening with "no one will believe what happened to me!!!" and ending with "comment 'link' and I'll DM it to you"; and deenwith.myhak (57 followers), in English, "Comment YES to get link." All three had only a few dozen to a hundred-plus followers, promoted only this one app, and used the same script template.
On the App Store: in the Saudi Reference category free chart, Quranova was #31 in Oct 123 and #1 in Nov 18; on Nov 3 it reached #2 on the Jordan Reference Top Grossing chart (App Store charts, 11-01, 11-03). The timing lines up, which suggests correlation but doesn't prove causation.
What it is
A full Muslim toolkit in one app: ask AI any faith question ("I've been feeling far from God lately"), and the answer pulls specific Quran and hadith citations; the site says "Never invented." Add prayer times and adhan reminders, word-by-word highlighted recitation of the full Quran, dhikr counting after prayer, and 8 home and lock-screen widgets. Retention runs on a little star called Nova (now replaced by a lamp, Misbah): it brightens when you pray, recite, and do dhikr each day, with streaks and streak-freeze cards. One unusual detail: the prayer task pauses during menstruation without breaking the streak.
Pricing: $9.99/month or $59.99/year (3-day free trial); in some countries the annual plan can be paid in 12 installments on iPhone (site pricing page, 11-06). The site FAQ acknowledges that Quran reading and prayer times, previously free, now sit behind the paywall. The app is in English, Arabic, and Turkish; the store page is English only.
The developer is 8x; it was first listed in Aug 2026, 4 years ago.
Why it shows up on 19 countries' charts
First, the developer sells distribution. The 8x homepage reads "250k+ creators. Organic reach. No ad spend." It runs a network of 250k amateur creators who post videos for brands "from fresh accounts," claiming 300M cumulative views; one client case study says "650 TikTok and Instagram videos in India and the UAE." 8x was an Entrepreneurs First 2026 cohort project from the April batch, and the founder's line is: "Building products is getting easier; distribution is what turns a good app into a big one." The same developer account also has 6 other apps (AI outfits, manifestation, budgeting, learning), and apart from 8x's own creator-hiring app, they sit at 0 to 2 ratings (App Store, 11-06). The three few-dozen-follower accounts above are the very thing 8x sells.
Second, it picked markets with a very low bar to chart. In the Reference Top Grossing charts for Jordan, Israel, Pakistan, and the Gulf states, a handful of $59.99 annual subscriptions can crack the top ten (inferred). Quranova's rank swings are dramatic: Israel Top Grossing #8 → #42 → #75 → #8, and the number of countries where it charted rose from 28 in Oct to 8 in Nov 6 (App Store charts 19). That kind of jumping means a small denominator, not large volume.
Third, the pitch hits a real distrust. A user quote on the site: "Most GPTs hallucinate, or mix in anti-Muslim content… finding something that gives me honest answers and tells me when it can't find a source is great." "Stop asking ChatGPT Islamic questions" is the shared pitch across this whole category.
But it hasn't really taken off
Global iOS ratings stayed between 28 and 6 from Oct 11 to Nov 14, adding only 7 in 1 days; the US store shows 1 ratings at 1 stars (App Store, 11-06). Google Play claims 5000+ downloads, unverified. Most single videos from the three creator accounts drew 300 to 2400 views; the only breakout was an English Sep 7 video, "your birthday may map to a Quran verse," at 197k views.
For comparison, the most aggressive competitor, Qaf: Islamic AI, launched only in May and already has 2202 ratings, charts in 51 countries, and ranks #4,7 in the Saudi Reference Top Grossing chart, adding 910 ratings a day (App Store, 11-06). Quranova is less than a hundredth of its size.
Who it's competing with
| Product | Launched | Scale (App Store, 11-06) | How Quranova differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Qaf: Islamic AI | 2026-05 | 2202 ratings, charted in 51 countries | Pure AI Q&A, claims to search 8000 Islamic books; fastest growth this year |
| Deen Buddy | 2025-02 | 3902 ratings, charted in 63 countries | AI Q&A, store page localized into several languages |
| Maarifa | 2024-09 | 10k+ ratings in the French store | French-speaking and European Muslims |
| Tarteel | 2018 | 13.8k ratings, charted in 72 countries | AI listens to your recitation and corrects it; category leader |
| Quranly | 2021 | 1257 ratings in the UK store | Quran reading streaks and gamification, no AI Q&A |
| Muslim Pro, Athan Pro, etc. | 2010 era | 5 to 90k ratings | Prayer times and Quran reading, longtime tools, mostly free |
In the AI Islamic Q&A slot, 2025 to 2026 years ago more than a dozen others appeared, including AyahPath, Daleel AI, Noor, and nafs, each with dozens to hundreds of ratings. Quranova is a latecomer and the smallest of the bunch. It has no followers; if anything, it's the one following this wave.
What you can borrow
Not the product, but three tactics:
- A daily template for amateur burner accounts. Pain-point opening (anxiety, can't stop scrolling, forgot to pray) → "this app changed my life" → "comment 'link' and I'll DM you." The last step exists to get around TikTok not letting new accounts put external links in their bio. It's written in Gulf dialect, not Modern Standard Arabic.
- A trust selling point. In a field where people fear AI making things up, put "every statement cited, says I don't know when unsure" on the first screen.
- Chart selection. Pick countries with high willingness to pay and a low bar to the category chart, and first produce the signal "top ten bestseller in [country]."
One more thing to know: 8x's creator network has a self-serve version where a brand can post tasks itself, choose creators, and pay only for approved content, with a 7-day free trial (8x site, 11-06). In other words, the channel Quranova uses is one you can buy too; it has no exclusive edge, it just runs it in-house more cheaply than you can.
If it were you
C. There's something to learn, but following it isn't worth it. The AI Islamic Q&A space is already crowded, and Quranova hasn't broken out on its own; its real advantage is the parent company's distribution network, which you can also pay for. So it's not an opportunity, just a description of a playbook.
Who it suits: people already building religious, spiritual, or habit apps who lack cold-start distribution; people whose native language is Arabic, Urdu, Turkish, Malay, or Indonesian, able to write short-video copy that doesn't read like a translation.
Who it doesn't suit: anyone who wants to build another "AI Quran Q&A" head-on against Qaf and Deen Buddy (same pitch, competitors already have thousands of ratings and dozens of countries); anyone without grounding in doctrine who can't verify citations (one wrong answer is fatal in this category, and one-star reviews arrive faster than revenue); anyone expecting a chart rank to mean real income.
How to do it: If you must, don't build a toolkit. Pick an audience that's still unclaimed and add one concrete scenario, for example Malay or Indonesian women, a 30-day Ramadan check-in, or a bedtime Quran story for kids. Structure the product like Quranova: sourced Q&A + three daily tasks + streaks and freezes + lock-screen widgets, priced at $30 to $60 a year with a 3-day trial, with prices set per country.
How to get users: Copy the amateur daily-post template: hire 10 to 20 female creators with local accents, one video each per day. Run it for 2 weeks to see which openings (anxiety, scrolling, prayer reminders) get the most views, then shift budget there. You can recruit creators yourself or use a self-serve platform like 8x. Swap a keyword in the comments for the link.
Deadline: Ramadan 2027 starts around early February (estimated), and religious apps see their biggest download and payment peak of the year in those 30 days. Launch by late December and have a working video template by mid-January; if you miss that, wait for next year.
What would mean this read is wrong: ① Quranova's ratings pass 500 before late December, which would show the amateur-account matrix can bring real scale, not just small-country charts; then it's worth copying seriously and the rating should go up. ② Other 8x apps on the same account (outfits, manifestation, learning) also hit top-ten in some country's category, which would show this is a repeatable pipeline, and 8x itself is what's worth studying. ③ Conversely, if Quranova disappears from every chart before Ramadan 2027, it shows dozens-of-followers accounts posting daily can't sustain a subscription app, and this playbook isn't worth paying to learn.

Quranova: AI Quran Companion (iOS id6792097549) research report
Research date 2026-11-06. Data from our appstore library (since 2026-10-28), iTunes lookup, the official site quranova.chat, 8x.social, TikHub (TikTok), and Jina search.
Bottom line
Quranova itself is a well-polished but tiny (about 12 iOS ratings worldwide) Islamic subscription app combining "AI Quran Q&A + prayer check-ins + a pet to raise." It has charted in the Reference category in 19 countries, and the reason is less that the product won and more that its developer, 8x Social, is itself a 250k creator UGC network company. It is using its own creator network to give its app free TikTok/Instagram distribution. On top of that, the Reference category's Top Grossing charts in the Middle East and South Asia have very low thresholds, so a few annual subscriptions can push it into the top few dozen. Quranova looks more like a showroom for 8x's UGC playbook than a product that has already broken out.
1. Basic data
- Developer: 8x Social, Inc. (shown on the App Store as "8x"). The same account has 7 apps: 8x Creators (a creator gig app, 2026-05-06), Cherly (AI outfits), Falia (manifestation), PocketPal Budget, Fix Yo Yap, Delulu Study, and CookRight. Apart from 8x Creators, each has 0–2 ratings (iTunes lookup, 2026-11-06).
- Listed 2026-08-04, current version 1.4.5 (2026-10-19). Only an English store page; in-app it supports English, Arabic, and Turkish, and answers support romanized Urdu (official site /pricing).
- Pricing: Plus $9.99/month; $59.99/year (3-day trial); on iPhone the annual plan is split into 12 installments in some countries (no trial); prices vary by country (quranova.chat/pricing). The official FAQ states that features that used to be free, such as Quran reading, prayer times, and the tasbih counter, are now in Plus, so almost the whole app sits behind the paywall.
- Ratings: the global iOS rating count fluctuated between 11 and 14 (app_day summary in the appstore library, 10-28 to 11-06), adding only 1 over 7 days. The US store has 1 ratings at 1 stars (iTunes lookup). The Play listing's recall card says 5000+ downloads (unverified; our googleplay library does not have the package com.eightx.quranchat).
- Charts (appstore library chart_rank, Reference category):
- Charted in 10-28 countries: 8 of them → 11-06 of them 19.
- Top Grossing #2 in Jordan (11-03), Top Grossing #8 in Israel (11-06), Top Grossing #10 in Pakistan (10-30), Top Free #18 (11-01) / Top Grossing 53–60 in Saudi Arabia; UAE and the UK (Top Grossing 191) also briefly appeared.
- Rankings swing hard (Top Grossing in Israel 8→42→75→8), the classic signature of a small category chart where one or two subscriptions can move the ranking. For comparison, in the same category in Saudi Arabia, Qaf: Islamic AI was Top Grossing #4, with 2202 ratings, and a 7-day rating total of +910.
2. Competitors (doing the same thing: AI answering Islamic/Quran questions + daily religious habits)
| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale (appstore library, taking the largest figure per store) | How Quranova differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Qaf: Islamic AI | iOS/Android/web | 2026-05-19 | 2202 ratings, charted in 51 countries, Saudi Reference Top Grossing #4,7, ratings +910 in one day | Pure AI Q&A (claims to search 8000 Islamic books); the hottest new entrant in the same period, at over a hundred times Quranova's scale |
| Deen Buddy(Red Sky Labs) | iOS | 2025-02 | 3902 ratings, charted in 63 countries | Mainly AI Q&A, localized across many languages, broader reach |
| Maarifa(Relentless) | iOS | 2024-09 | France: 10648 ratings | Focused on French-speaking and European Muslim AI assistance |
| Tarteel | iOS/Android | 2018 | 13.8k ratings, charted in 72 countries | AI recitation checking and memorization; the category leader, but not Q&A |
| Quranly | iOS/Android | 2021 | 1257 ratings in the UK store | Reading check-ins + gamification (streaks, points); the closest to Quranova's "raise a pet" side, but no AI Q&A |
| Muslim Pro, Quran Majeed, Athan Pro, etc. | iOS/Android | 2010 era | 5–90k ratings | Prayer times and a full Quran reader; long-established tools. Quranova has recreated these features behind its paywall |
| AyahPath Daily, Al Inarah, Daleel AI, Sereni, Noor, nafs, Sabiqoo, etc. | iOS | 2023–2026 | Dozens to hundreds of ratings | Similar small apps; AI Q&A or Quran habit tracking, most also relying on subscriptions |
| ChatGPT/Claude, quran.ai (reading the Quran inside ChatGPT/Claude) | Big companies / web | — | — | General-purpose models; Quranova's pitch is exactly "stop asking ChatGPT Islamic questions" |
Bottom line: this category is 2025–2026 extremely crowded. A dozen or so new AI Islamic Q&A apps appeared in a year, and Quranova is a late entrant at the smallest scale of the group.
3. Growth tactics (evidence)
Core: 8x uses its own creator network to seed "fake everyday people, real matrix" distribution.
- 8x Social's website: 「250k+ creators. Organic reach. No ad spend」 and 「deploys creator networks that generate millions of organic views from fresh accounts」. Its case studies say 「650 videos across TikTok and Instagram… India and UAE」 (8x.social/for-brands). 8x also has a creator gig App, 「8x Creators」 (App Store id6762701631,26 with ratings). 8x is a project from Entrepreneurs First's 2026 April Demo Day cohort. Founder Jaka Bavdek says: 「As building products becomes easier… distribution makes good apps great」, and claims 70% monthly growth (LinkedIn post; Caplight records EF pre-seed).
- On TikTok you can find a batch of small accounts that post exclusively about Quranova (TikHub, 2026-11-06 captured):
- learn_with_nawal (75 followers): 10-27 to 11-05, one post a day in Gulf-dialect Arabic, nearly every one mentioning Quranova, 400–1500 views per post, one reaching 10-30 views with 8524 views; the same person's Instagram reel was reposted to the official @quranova.ai account.
- journeywithhemi (145 followers): likewise one Arabic post a day, using a testimony hook ("nobody will believe what happened to me") plus "comment رابط to get the link," with single posts at 300–2400 views.
- deenwith.myhak (57 followers): English, one post a day, "Comment YES to get link." One "birthday-matched verse" post blew up to 197k views 9-07.
- The official account @quranova.ai.quran has 23 followers and 6 posts; the Instagram account @quranova.ai has 135 followers.
- These accounts have very few followers, mostly promote only this one app, and use the same copy template (pain-point opening → "this app changed me" → comment for the link). This is exactly the "fresh accounts" matrix approach 8x advertises.
- Timing match: Arabic-language creators began daily posting in late October, and Saudi Arabia's Top Free rank jumped from 10-31 to 123 then to 11-01 in 18, while Jordan reached Top Grossing #11-03 2. This fits the seeding rhythm (correlation, not proof of causation).
- Paid ads: our metaads library has no advertiser entries for Quranova or 8x (the library only tracks a fixed list, so a miss does not mean no spend). Facebook has a "Quranova App" page posting POV videos (search results); whether it runs paid ads is unverified.
- Store search / ASO: the store page is English only, with no Arabic localization; ASO is not a main channel.
- Media / X / Reddit: x-radar shows 90 posts in the last 0 days; no media coverage found.
4. Why it got traction (and why it hasn't really broken out)
- Distribution is the parent company's core business: 8x sells "creator network seeding," so building its own app gives it a near-zero-marginal-cost distribution channel and a case study to show clients. The 6 consumer AI apps under the same account follow the same test logic: build an app → seed it through your own network → see which ones retain.
- Picked audiences with high willingness to pay and low chart thresholds: Muslims in the Gulf, Jordan, and Pakistan, with religious need and annual fees of $59.99. The Reference category's Top Grossing charts in these countries have very low barriers, and the wild rank swings suggest a few subscriptions can push it into the top 10.
- Product messaging targets "AI trust anxiety": "every answer cites Quran verses and hadith sources, no fabrication" and "don't ask ChatGPT Islamic questions." The user testimonial on the website says exactly this ("GPT hallucinates or mixes in anti-Muslim information").
- Retention design borrows heavily from Duolingo/Finch: a little star Nova (the new version changes it to a "Misbah" lamp) grows with prayers, reading, and dhikr, with streaks and streak freezes. It also thoughtfully offers "skip prayer during your period without breaking your streak," a rare real detail for Quranova.
- But at scale it has not broken out: 12 global ratings, +7 over 1 days; in the same period Qaf added +7 over 910 days. It was picked up mainly because it surfaced on small-country Top Grossing charts with low thresholds.
5. Differentiation
- Compared with Qaf, Deen Buddy and other AI Q&A apps: it adds a full suite of "pet raising + daily tasks + prayer times + widgets + word-by-word highlighted full Quran recitation," closer to Quranly × Muslim Pro × AI Q&A. Its answers emphasize citing verses, hadith, and the Al-Mukhtasar commentary.
- Compared with Quranly, Muslim Pro and other tools: it adds AI Q&A and women-oriented details like "pause during your period," and targets a younger female audience (almost all its creators are women who wear headscarves).
- These differences are not why it surfaced: others have the same features. What is different is the creator distribution network 8x brings.
6. Visibility and copycats
- Few people know about it yet: no public revenue figures, no media coverage, 0 discussion on X; 8x's own website and blog do not name Quranova.
- Copycats: none seen copying Quranova; it is instead riding the wave with Qaf, Deen Buddy, and Quranly.
7. What others can learn
- The "own creator network + own apps" combination: a UGC/creator agency using idle creator capacity to seed its own apps, serving both as ad spend and as a sales case study.
- The seeding template for small accounts posting daily: pain-point hook → "this app changed me" → "comment the keyword to get the link" (working around the TikTok bio link restriction), with dialect localization (Gulf Arabic).
- Religious/habit app mechanics: pet raising, streaks, streak freezes, "period pause," and the selling point of "answers always come with sources."
- Targeting countries with high willingness to pay but low category chart thresholds to chase Top Grossing rank, creating chart signals.
8. Uncertain
- The Play 5000+ download count comes from a recall card and is unverified; whether Play is the main revenue source is unknown.
- Whether it also ran Meta/TikTok paid ads is unverified.
- Whether creators are paid per post by 8x or are employee-run side accounts cannot be told apart (both models fall under the 8x network).
- Revenue scale: Top Grossing ranks #2–10 in small Reference countries may correspond to only single-digit daily subscriptions; it cannot be estimated.
- Whether Arabic recitation accounts like quranova01 / quranova04 (around 3000 followers, 1–40k views) belong to 8x is uncertain; they may just be similarly named recitation accounts.
