Oil Signals - USOIL Alerts · Hilvy Ltd

Kenya top grossing #2, 0 ratings: a crude oil signals app, and the gold signals app behind it that has run for five years

What it is A crude oil (USOIL) trading signals subscription app from Hilvy Ltd, a London Webflow design studio. It sends direction, entry, stop loss, and three take-profit levels. Weekly $9.99, monthly $29.99.

Why it blew up It didn't, really. The Kenya Finance Top Grossing chart has a very low bar: a handful of monthly subscriptions pushed it from outside the chart to #2, and it has been sliding ever since. The app that actually earns is the same developer's gold signals app from 2021 years ago, which took early title keywords and old ratings to get small, steady subscriptions across several stores in 40.

CHow you could follow it If you have a real signal source, you can borrow the distribution playbook: pick high-search assets like gold or Bitcoin, build one app plus one dedicated domain with SEO per asset, write honest numbers on the landing page, and publish the full history of every closed signal to stand out from Telegram signal groups.

Grade C: this one has only about one sale, and oil signal demand is small. What you can learn is the gold app's unbundling and domain playbook, but the business rests on real signals and years of accumulated ratings, its bad reviews center on "accuracy doesn't match," there is compliance risk, and following it pays off little. Few people know about it yet

Oil Signals is a subscription app that only sends crude oil trading signals. In Nov 4 it suddenly jumped to #2 on the Kenya App Store Finance Top Grossing chart. Yet it has zero ratings worldwide, and the Android version has been installed 100+ times. The app itself didn't blow up. What's worth looking at is the playbook behind it: a web designer in London split his gold signals app, which had been running for 2021 years, into seven apps by asset, each with its own domain. This piece explains how this one happened, what keeps the gold app alive, and whether you should copy the approach.

An oil website with a gold price

Open oiltrading.io and the hero reads "93% Accuracy" and "Live · 17,000+ traders." Scroll down and there's a sample signal card: "BUY USOIL, entry 3,284.50 – 3,286.20, stop loss 3,278.40."

Crude oil trades between 60 and 100 dollars. 3,284 is a gold price, and it matches the card on the older site goldsniper.io down to every digit. The oil site was copied wholesale from the gold site, with only the asset name swapped. On the same page, "30-day win rate" reads 87.4% in one place and 93% in another; "active members" reads 38,000+ in one place and 17K+ in another; there is also "7 years of verifiable track record" and "4.8 rating, 2,847 verified reviews" (oiltrading.io, 11-06). But the app was only listed in Sep 3, 2026, and to this day it has zero ratings.

What it is

  • An app that pushes USOIL (WTI crude) trading signals. Each one states the direction, entry price, stop loss, three take-profit levels and current status. It also shows closed-trade results, market analysis and educational content. It doesn't connect to a broker; users place the orders themselves.
  • Free to download, paid subscription: $9.99 a week or $29.99 a month. English only. Nothing has been updated since the version listed in September 1.0.
  • Developer: Hilvy Ltd, a UK company whose sole director is Derrick Kityo. The company was incorporated 2018 years ago and its main business is building Webflow sites for clients (Companies House, hilvy.io). The trading signal app is a side project of this design studio.

How it reached #2

It has only appeared on one Kenya store's Finance Top Grossing chart: 11-03 it wasn't on the chart, then 11-04 #2,11-05, #3,11-06, #7. Across the 115 App Store storefronts, no other store has ever charted it, and it has never appeared on the Top Free or overall charts.

The bar for Kenya's Finance Top Grossing chart is very low. On 11-04, besides TradingView, Wallet and Splitwise, nearly all of the top 10 were trading signal apps: gold signals, AI chart analysis, and forex signals from East African local developers. On a chart like that, a single $29.99 monthly subscription, or a few weekly ones, is enough to jump from outside the chart to #2, and then it slides day by day. With 0 ratings and Play installs of 100+, the numbers fit "only one or two sales" (inference, based on how the ranking moved and the 0 rating).

So a high ranking doesn't mean real volume. It has so far picked up about one sale.

The gold app is the one that actually earns

This developer account has 7 apps on iOS, nearly all following "one asset, one app":

On Android, the same 7 apps were republished under another developer name, "Zilvy." The gold app has over 10k installs on Google Play, 209 reviews and a 3.4 rating (Google Play store page, 11-06).

Gold's ranking pattern is different from the crude oil one. It sits at #1 in North Macedonia 11-03, #3 in Jordan 11-05, #5 in Azerbaijan, and #10 in Slovakia 11-06. In the UAE, India, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Italy and France stores, its rank keeps bouncing between #20 and #100, dropping out for a few days and then climbing back. That points to a steady trickle of new subscriptions and renewals, not a big one-off spike (inferred; actual revenue isn't public).

Its five-year run likely comes down to three things:

  1. Picked the right asset. Gold (XAUUSD) is the most traded instrument in the retail forex crowd, and gold prices rose sharply in 2025–2026, so more people searched for "gold signals."
  2. Claimed the keywords early. In 2021, "Gold Signals" and "XAUUSD" went into the title, and the ratings it accumulated are a barrier for newcomers.
  3. One asset, one domain. goldsniper.io has a dedicated gold signals page, and a web search for "Gold Sniper XAUUSD signals app" ranks it first. The developer builds websites for a living, so spinning up these sites costs almost nothing.

Why the oil app didn't take off: oil has far lower search volume than gold in the retail CFD crowd; the app is English-only, hasn't been updated since launch, and has no ratings; and the landing page still uses the exaggerated old template. On iOS, you can barely find another app dedicated to oil signals, but few people search that term, and the lack of competitors is a sign of small demand.

What users say

Recent US-store reviews for the gold app (App Store, as of 11-06) are mostly negative:

"Nothing for days, then suddenly several signals in one or two hours in the middle of the night. The accuracy they brag about doesn't match what actually happens." (1 stars, 2026-05)
"Just get the free signals on Telegram. For the same money you'd hire a person who stays with you, not a monthly charge." (1 stars, 2025-06)
"Tried it for over a month and wanted to subscribe, but the app wouldn't let me sign up or log in." (1 stars, 2026-09-08)

Reviews cluster in a five-day window, Mar 21 to 25, 2025: seven 4- and 5-star reviews land at once, with headlines that read like ad copy ("Consistent Wins Keep Coming!", "Boosted My Confidence as a Trader"). Several use "cọ" with a dotted letter, which looks like an attempt to get past keyword filters. These reviews are most likely not organic (our inference).

One more detail: the two landing pages now tell different stories. goldsniper.io has removed the win rate and member count. Its sample card is labeled "Illustrative, not current performance," and the rating now cites the real figure: "76 US-store ratings, checked Oct 22." oiltrading.io still shows the 93% win rate version. The gold site probably went through a compliance cleanup in October, though the reason isn't clear (inference).

"Single-asset signal apps" are not new. Hilvy has been doing it itself for 2021 years, and others are splitting gold too. Nobody is following with the oil one yet.

If it were you

C. You can learn a cheap distribution playbook, but copying a signal app for oil or any other asset isn't worth it.

Who it suits: people who already have a reliable signal source (they're traders themselves, or they run a signal group that's really operating), who can build SEO landing pages, and who want a searchable store-side payment channel for their signal group.

Who it doesn't suit: anyone with no real signals who plans to invent win rates the way its landing page does. The most common bad reviews are "accuracy doesn't match" and "no signals for days." A monthly subscription is only enough to put you on a small-country chart for a day, and it won't keep people. Don't touch it if you can only write apps and don't understand trading.

How to do it: if you do it, pick high-search assets like gold, Bitcoin or Nasdaq, not niche ones like crude oil. Build a back end that splits packages by asset, put the asset code plus "signals" or "alerts" in the title, give each package a dedicated domain, and write honest numbers on the landing page from day one (follow goldsniper.io's current approach). What can really set you apart is what it doesn't do well: publish the full history of every closed signal and keep push timing fixed, so users don't have to compare prices against Telegram groups.

How to get users: store search plus asset-domain SEO, the only channel it's been confirmed to use. Small-country finance charts in East Africa, the Gulf and Eastern Europe have low bars, so you can get exposure there first. I found no evidence of paid acquisition or creators, and trading-signal ads face heavy restrictions on Meta and TikTok, so don't count on those.

Timing: there's no deadline, and this isn't a window-race business. If you try it, do it while gold prices are still high and "gold signals" search volume is still strong.

What would show this read was wrong: ① if Oil Signals charts in more stores over the next month, or its ratings climb into the dozens, that would show even niche assets can build volume, so the ceiling for this playbook is higher than judged here; ② conversely, if the gold app's jagged ranking disappears in early 2027, that would show even the old app is on the way down; ③ if Apple starts pulling "guaranteed win rate" signal apps in batches, the whole route needs to be re-evaluated.

Bottom line

The app itself didn't take off. The data card's 'Kenya Finance Top Grossing #7' is a spike from a single subscription: 11-04 #2,11-05 #3,11-06 #7. It has never charted in any store other than Kenya, has 0 global ratings, and 100+ installs on Google Play. It's the 2021-year-old Gold Signals (formerly Gold Sniper) from Hilvy Ltd, a one-person Webflow design studio in London, split out by instrument into a new app. The app actually earning money is the gold one: it has charted in Finance Top Grossing charts across 40 stores in our library. What's worth studying is the playbook of 'one app per instrument plus a dedicated SEO domain', and why the gold app has lasted five years. Oil is the latest test of this playbook, and it hasn't gained traction yet.

1. What it is

  • Released 2026-09-03, version 1.0, no updates since; free to download, English only; category Finance; bundle id io.oiltrading.signals; developer website oiltrading.io (iTunes lookup, us store).
  • Features: pushes USOIL (WTI crude oil) trade signals. Each signal shows direction, entry, stop-loss, take-profit, and current status, plus closed-trade results, market analysis, and educational content. No broker integration; users place orders with their own broker.
  • Pricing: in-app subscription, $9.99 weekly and $29.99 monthly (prices recalled from the data card).
  • The Android version, 'Oil Signals: WTI Crude Alerts', is published under a different developer name, Zilvy, with the same package name io.oiltrading.signals, and has 100+ installs (Google Play store page, 2026-11-06).

2. Data: how it's actually selling

Charts (appstore library chart_rank, Finance category Top Grossing genre 6015): in 115 stores it has charted only in Kenya, for 3 days total, with the trajectory 11-04 #2 → 11-05 #3 → 11-06 #7. It has never charted in Top Free or the overall chart. Rating counts: every store shows 0 (appstore library 10-28 to 11-06; the us store lookup also shows 0).

How to read it: the Kenya Finance Top Grossing bar is low, and the top spots are dominated by trading signal apps. On 11-04 the top 10 were: TradingView, Oil Signals, Forex Genius (individual developers in Kenya/Uganda), Wallet, Splitwise, Fxlens, Stocks to Buy Now AI Signals, Profit AI, Gold Signals M5 (Freezed Trading Signals), XAUUSD - Gold Trading AI (appstore library). The day before (11-03) Oil Signals wasn't on the chart; the next day it jumped straight to #2. This shape, a jump into the top spots in one day followed by a slow slide, suggests one or two $29.99 monthly subscriptions (or a few weekly ones) pushed it up, not sustained growth. The 0 ratings and 100+ Play installs are consistent with that. This is an inference, based on the shape of the trajectory and the 0 ratings.

3. Developer: Hilvy Ltd and its instrument matrix

  • Company: Hilvy Ltd, registered in England and Wales, incorporated under company number 11529251,2018-08-20. Sole director Derrick Kityo (British national, born 1993), registered at a registered-agent address in Covent Garden, London (Companies House). The core business is a Webflow website design and development studio (hilvy.io, clients include Unmind and Provenance; the personal site derrick.dk is also run by Hilvy). In other words, the trading signal app is a side project of a web design studio.

  • Gold Signals is the cash cow: its Finance Top Grossing rankings (appstore library) include North Macedonia #11-03 1, Azerbaijan #11-03 5, Latvia #11-03 7, Jordan #11-05 3, Tanzania #10-28 8, Bahrain #10-31 8, Slovakia #11-06 10, and Lebanon #10-28 14. It also repeatedly moves in and out of the 20–100 range in the UAE, India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, and elsewhere. Many stores show a sawtooth pattern of dropping and bouncing back, which means new subscriptions or renewals come in every few days. That's different from Oil, which spiked once. On Android, Gold Signals has 10k+ installs, 209 reviews, and 3.4 stars (Google Play store page).
  • On Android it's under the name Zilvy (developer id 5624012880380515266), which published the same 7 apps in full: Oil, Silver, Chart AI, US30, NAS100, Gold, Forex (Google Play developer page). Our googleplay library doesn't cover these apps (installs too low, never charted).
  • Clear signs of a copied template: the sample signal on the oiltrading.io homepage reads 'BUY USOIL entry 3,284.50–3,286.20, stop-loss 3,278.40'. Those are gold price levels; crude oil trades around $60–100. The numbers exactly match the sample card on goldsniper.io. In other words, the oil landing page was copied wholesale from the gold site with only the instrument name swapped.

4. Landing pages and compliance: the two sites take different positions

  • oiltrading.io (newer site): the headline says '93% Accuracy', and the page shows '17,000+ traders', '38,000+ active members', '7 yrs verified track record', '4.8/5 · 2,847 verified reviews', plus a return calculator ('Q1 return +20.27%, vs S&P +3.1%') and three testimonials attributed to people such as a Frankfurt prop trader. These numbers don't match an app released in September with 0 ratings, so they're almost certainly template marketing copy, not real data. It also says 'refund if you haven't broken even within 60 days'.
  • goldsniper.io (older site, already revised): win rates and member counts have been removed, the sample card is labeled 'Illustrative, not current performance', the ratings cited are real ('4.4 / 5 · 76 US App Store ratings · checked 22 October 2026'), and the copy now reads 'Your trade, your call'.
  • Inference: the gold site likely went through a compliance cleanup around 2026-10 (possibly after App Review or an ad platform flagged it; not verified), while the oil site still uses the old template. Both App Store descriptions already use compliant language ('not investment advice', 'no guarantee of signal count').

5. Competitors

No iOS app is doing crude oil signals. Searching our App Store library for oil signal / USOIL / crude oil / WTI (Finance category) only turns up price-ticker widgets: Crude Oil - Live Badge Price (2018, up to 82 ratings), Oljepris Live (2026-03,14 ratings), EIA inventory widgets and similar. None push trade signals. So Oil Signals has almost no rivals under the "USOIL signals" search term. But that term itself gets very little search volume, which is part of why it never took off.

Copycats: Nobody has copied Oil yet. The "single-instrument signal app" format already exists (Freezed's Gold Signals M5/H1/H3, AI NATION's XAUUSD edition). Hilvy itself has been around for 2021 years.

6. Growth tactics

  • Store search / ASO: App names use the instrument code directly: "Oil Signals - USOIL Alerts", "Gold Signals - XAUUSD Alerts", "Silver Signals - XAGUSD Alerts", stuffing "instrument + signals + alerts" into the title. The gold app charts in 40 stores, most likely by catching long-tail searches like "XAUUSD signals" organically in small markets nobody is buying ads in (inference; specific search rankings unconfirmed).
  • One SEO site per instrument: oiltrading.io, goldsniper.io, silvertrading.io. goldsniper.io has topic pages like /gold-signals/ and /gold-signals-app/, and ranks #1 on Jina for "Gold Sniper XAUUSD signals app" (confirmed). This company builds Webflow sites, so these cost almost nothing to make.
  • Two accounts cover both stores: Hilvy Ltd on iOS, Zilvy on Android, with 7 apps mapped one to one.
  • Paid ads: Hilvy, oiltrading.io and goldsniper.io turn up nothing in the metaads / googleads / tiktokads libraries. But they were never on the tracking list, so not finding them doesn't mean they didn't run ads.
  • Social / creators: x-radar has no mentions of goldsniper, oiltrading or hilvy in the last 90 days. On TikTok, "gold sniper" is a common trading slang with many lookalike signal accounts (goldsnipersignals, goldsniper_75), but nothing shows a link to Hilvy. No evidence of content marketing.
  • Where the Kenya sale came from: Retail forex trading is very active in East Africa (ke, ug, tz). Signal apps dominate the local Finance Top Grossing charts, and Gold Signals has charted in tz and ke for a long time. The director's surname, Kityo, is common in Uganda, so there may be East African contacts or community channels, but that's pure speculation, unverified.

7. Why the gold app works and Oil didn't take off

  1. Small-country Finance Top Grossing charts have a very low bar: a single $29.99/month subscription was enough to hit #2 in Kenya. That one sale inflates the recall score, but it doesn't mean the app is getting real traction.
  2. The gold app has lasted five years on instrument hype and an early claim on search terms: XAUUSD is the most traded instrument in retail forex, and gold rose sharply over 2025–2026, bringing more people searching for "gold signals". Title keywords claimed 2021 years ago and accumulated ratings (76 on the US store) let it pull organic traffic in 40 stores, and it has renewing subscribers.
  3. Splitting into more apps costs almost nothing: same signal backend, same app template, same Webflow landing page. Swap the instrument name and icon and you have a new app (the oil site's sample card still shows gold prices, which is the evidence). Silver and Oil both shipped within 2026-08/09 weeks of each other.
  4. Why Oil hasn't taken off: Crude oil gets far less search interest than gold in retail forex and CFD circles. The app is English-only, hasn't been updated since version 1.0, and has 0 ratings. The landing page still uses the old hype-heavy copy. So far it has one sale.

8. Differentiation

Compared with AI chart-reading competitors (AI NATION, Profit AI), it sells "finished signals pushed by a human analyst": direction, entry, stop-loss, three take-profit levels, and status are all spelled out, and users copy them into their broker. Compared with Telegram signal groups, it's a proper in-app subscription you can find in the store. Compared with other signal apps, its only differentiator is that it covers crude oil only, which is why it has almost no rivals under the USOIL search term. That differentiation did produce one sale, but the term's volume is too small to be the reason it works. For the gold app, what actually mattered was "single instrument + early claim on title keywords + old ratings".

9. What to borrow

  • One signal or content backend, split by instrument (gold / silver / oil / indices / forex) into multiple apps, with the instrument code in the title, each package catching one long-tail search term.
  • Each package gets an instrument-specific .io domain as an SEO landing page, funneling users to both the iOS and Android stores.
  • Weekly and monthly plans at high prices ($9.99 / $29.99), so a single sale shows up on small-country Finance Top Grossing charts, then the store's featuring carries it further.
  • Lesson learned the hard way: inflated claims on the landing page (93% win rate, 17k users) are a minefield for regulators and app review. The gold site has been cleaned up, the oil site hasn't.

10. Uncertain
