# ¥48 a week on "elder-friendly keyboards": a Guangzhou traffic studio sold romance-script keyboards to parents

> It repositioned the “high-EQ reply keyboard,” which was already bringing in tens of millions a year, as an elder-friendly product. That claimed the only “large-print / elder keyboard” search spot in China's iOS store. It then relied on paid acquisition, plus weekly auto-billing after the trial to recoup costs.

# ¥48 a week on "elder-friendly keyboards": a Guangzhou traffic studio sold romance-script keyboards to parents

**What it is** An iPhone keyboard built for parents: big keys, incoming messages read aloud, one tap to pick ready-made "high-EQ" replies, and AI to polish what you type.

**Why it took off** It took the "high-EQ reply keyboard" category, already a tens-of-millions-a-year business, and re-skinned it for elders. Then it grabbed the only open search slot on the China iOS store for "large-font / elder keyboard", pushed it with paid acquisition, and used a trial that auto-bills weekly to earn back the cost.

**B** **How you could play it** Port the elder tools already proven on Android (large-font weather, maps, find-my-phone, medication reminders) to iOS to take the search terms. Run a parent version and a child version as a pair. Price with transparent annual or family plans to set yourself apart.

Grade B: the senior-tools niche on iOS is still open and the playbook has proven it can earn back its cost, but almost nobody knows about it. The features are covered for free by iFlytek, Sogou and the system's own read-aloud, so there's no moat. A big chunk of the money comes from trials that bill after the free period, which brings complaints and takedown risk, and the scale is small. Few people know about it yet

Good Keyboard is an iPhone keyboard for middle-aged and older users: big keys, incoming messages read aloud, plus a pile of "high-EQ" phrases. 3-day free trial, then ¥48 a week. Three months after launch it has only 237 ratings, yet it sits steadily around #100+ on the China tools Top Grossing chart. It didn't grow from word of mouth. It did three things: switched audience, took the search terms, and bought users to earn back the cost. The playbook isn't hard to copy. Executing it cleanly is.

### Two reviews, three days apart

On Oct 14 2026, someone gave Good Keyboard 5 stars on the China App Store with a four-word title: "Must-have chat weapon". The body: "Not bad, you can choose replies." Three days later, on Oct 17, another reviewer gave 1 stars: "Malicious charges in the app, no notice." Then in Oct 25 another 1-star review with one line: "Everything costs money." Earlier, on Aug 31, a user gave 3 stars, politely: "Honestly the fee is pricey, about a quarter's worth! Haha, just my opinion."

The store's average is 4.6 (239 ratings, App Store CN, 11-06). The only written reviews that might show up are these four, and half are about being charged. Put the two sides together and you have this app's business: some people genuinely find it useful, and many others got charged once the trial ended.

### What it is

The first line on the store page reads: "Good Keyboard is a simple input keyboard app designed for elders." Six features are listed:

- **Large-font keyboard** : oversized keys, fewer mistakes;

- **Screen read-aloud** : read incoming messages with one tap;

- **Typing playback** : reads each character as you type, so you can confirm it's right;

- **High-EQ replies** : "A huge library of ready-made phrases, just pick one when you don't know what to say";

- **High-EQ phrasing** : AI rewrites what you typed to sound "gentle and appropriate";

- **Keyboard skins** .

Membership unlocks all skins, phrases and "full read-aloud access". Pricing: weekly membership ¥48, annual membership ¥198, plus a "3-day free trial then ¥48" tier (purchased in-app via the App Store page, 11-06). The page also flags "contains ads", and the privacy label says it uses "identifiers" to track you, meaning it reads the ad ID. A keyboard package weighing 138 MB.

Launch date: 2026-08-05. From 1.0.1 to 1.0.5 (8-17 to 9-30) there were five versions in total. Every release note says the same single line, "fixed known issues", and there have been no updates since Sep 30.

### Who's behind it

The provider on the store page is Guangzhou Liangjing Information Technology Co., Ltd., with a unified social credit code starting with 440106, registered in Tianhe District. The MAE prefix suggests it was registered around 2025 years ago, so it's a new company.

The company also has an iOS app called "Zai Na – Family Location & Care Reminders" (listed 2026-07-03), which lets adult children check their parents' location and movement remotely, with geofencing and SOS. Its paywall is identical to Good Keyboard's: ¥48 a week, ¥198 a year, with subscription terms copied word for word. Zai Na has only 66 ratings, didn't gain a single one in 10 days, yet ranks #23 to #26 on the China Productivity Top Grossing chart. Reviews say "scam", "paid but can't use it, asked for a refund and got none, no customer service", and "¥48 a week" (App Store CN, 7–October).

Searching the company name on Tencent's Yingyongbao app store turns up a string of Android apps: Guo Yin Xiao Ji, Yi Jian Gui Tu, Wan Juan Cheng Yu, Miao Qu Shi Cheng Yu, Pin Dou Tu Zhi Bu, Shui Dao Bei Cheng, Personal Pension Retirement Calculator, Waimai Discount Coupon Bao, Find Phone by Voice Anytime... Package names are random word strings like com.adverse.carveadrows and com.aggrav.exhorachubb (per the Yingyongbao developer page). This is a traffic studio running a matrix of small games and utility apps, not a team that specializes in elder-friendly design.

### Why now, and why this one

**First, it borrows a monetization model that has already been proven to make money. The "high-EQ reply keyboard" has long been a big business on iOS: per Zhihu, 36 氪 and 创业邦, Lovekey made 31M in a year, and 蜜小语 made 21.5M. Lovekey is currently #4 on the Utilities Top Grossing chart, with 53k ratings. These keyboards all sell to young people dating, and 蜜小语, 妙回, Love 键盘 and 20 more also cover dating and work. A good keyboard takes the same playbook (keyboard extension + reply library + AI polishing) as-is, swaps in an elder-friendly persona, and adds large text and read-aloud.**

**Second, that spot on iOS was empty.** Searching the China App Store for "large font / elder / senior / elderly + keyboard" returns only this app. On Android, "elder input methods" like Ruyi, Youyin and Youyou Input have long been a mature category, and Douyin is full of promo videos along the lines of "a blessing for illiterate elders". On iOS, there was no equivalent product.

**Third, the person paying may not be the person using it.** Adult children install it for their parents and pay for them, or a parent tries the trial for three days, forgets to cancel, and starts getting billed weekly. ¥48 a week comes to nearly ¥200 a month, enough per user to cover the ad spend. The same paywall on Zai Na pushed it to #25 on the Productivity Top Grossing chart.

### Where users come from

1. **Feed-based paid acquisition (inferred, no direct evidence)** . Five reasons: the privacy label declares reading of the ad ID and the page is tagged "contains ads"; the developer is itself a traffic studio; searching "large-font keyboard" or "good keyboard for elders" on Douyin, Xiaohongshu or X turns up no organic content about it; ratings climb steadily by 4–5 a day with no spike, which looks like continuous spending; and its sibling app Zai Na holds steady on ratings while its chart rank stays firm, which only paid traffic really explains. The likeliest channels are Ocean Engine, Pangle and Tencent Ads, with creative aimed at adult children who set it up for their parents, or at the elders themselves. Specific creatives were not found.

2. **Store search** . The title stuffs in "large-font keyboard", "input playback", "high-EQ replies" and "custom", and the subtitle reads "large-font keyboard designed for elderly users". Search "large-font keyboard" and it's the only result.

3. **"Customers also bought"** . The store page recommends Hand-in-Hand Keyboard, Love Words Keyboard, Heart-Fluttering Love Words, plus Phone Manager, Caller ID Themes, AR Measure, Wallpapers and Driving Test, all paid-acquisition utility apps. Its users and the traffic being bought for these apps are the same crowd.

### How much it actually makes

Not much, but enough to stay alive.

| Where to look | Metric |
|---|---|
| Score | 10-28 is 198, 11-06 is 237; +34 over the last 7 days (App Store CN) |
| Rating velocity | About 2.4 per day over the first 84 days after launch, about 4.3 per day over the last 9 days, speeding up gradually (inferred) |
| Charts | Ranks #127–154 on the China tools Top Grossing chart (10-28 to 11-06), not on the overall or Top Free charts |
| Other countries | Not on any chart |
| Revenue | Not disclosed. At that chart rank, an estimated several thousand yuan a day in revenue (inferred, unverified) |

No article about it turns up on the web, Douyin or X. Almost nobody knows it exists.

### Who it's competing with

| Competitors | Scale | Compared with alternatives |
|---|---|---|
| iFlytek input method elder mode | iOS 66k ratings, 7 days +2,286 | Has had large fonts, voice readout and dialect recognition for 2021 years, free |
| Sogou input method elder mode | iOS 8.47M ratings | Elder mode is just a toggle, free |
| Baidu / WeChat / Doubao input methods | 420k / 130k / 19k ratings | Free; on Douyin people recommend "Doubao input method for your parents" |
| Lovekey, Mi Xiaoyu and other romance keyboards | Thousands to 53k ratings | Same phrase-library monetization, aimed at young people |
| iOS screen read-aloud, WeChat "listen to text messages", font enlargement | On every iPhone | Free and more complete. The problem is that elders and their children don't know about them or don't know how to turn them on. |

To put it plainly, every feature it has also has a free alternative, and those alternatives are often better. What it occupies is a single slot: the first iOS keyboard sold as its own app, titled "for elders", on a weekly subscription. The value of that slot lies in search terms and ad creatives, not in the product.

### Is anyone copying it

No iOS app copying the "elder keyboard" specifically has turned up yet. But the same idea has already spread to other categories. Baixing Map Large-Font Edition (a small team in Guangzhou) reached #7 on the navigation Top Grossing chart, "5G Precise Weather" includes voice readout, and another app is literally called "Weather Forecast – Designed for Middle-Aged and Older Adults", mostly from small Guangzhou teams. "Large font + elders + weekly subscription" is becoming a playbook, not just one app.

### The risks are in plain sight

### If it were you

**Verdict** : the senior-tools niche on iOS is still open, and Good Keyboard proves that "elders + search terms + paid acquisition + subscription" can earn back its cost. But the product has no moat, a large share of the money comes from trials users never cancelled, and the scale is small. Worth trying, but don't expect it to get big.

**Who it suits** : small teams that can run Ocean Engine and Tencent Ads and can calculate their payback period, and people who already have a tool matrix and can apply one paywall across several apps.

**Who it doesn't suit** : indie developers who can't buy traffic and only want organic reach. This audience won't find you on the App Store by itself, and they won't speak up for you on social media.

**How to do it:**

- Port the list of elder tools proven on Douyin on Android to iOS: input methods, large-font weather, large-font maps, find-my-phone, medication reminders, large-font caller ID. Take the "large font / elders / seniors" titles directly.

- Make one for the elder and one for the child, and pair the two. Good Keyboard and Zai Na were set up exactly this way.

- Don't copy the ¥48-a-week price. Switch to an annual or family-sharing plan, send one reminder before the trial ends, and reduce the risk of complaints, refunds and removal. That's also where you can set yourself apart: half of its bad reviews are about being charged.

**How to acquire users** : feed ads on Douyin and WeChat Channels, creative aimed at adult children ("Set this up on your parents' phone, and they can finally message on WeChat by themselves"), plus store search. Don't count on word of mouth among the elder crowd.

**Before this window closes** : nobody has claimed big-font and elderly-focused keyboard terms on iOS yet. It shrinks once iFlytek and Doubao push a senior mode on iOS, or copycat studios pile in and push up paid acquisition costs. Estimate: half a year to a year (inferred).

**Signs we misread it** : the good keyboard falls out of the top 200 Tools Top Grossing in two or three months; or Apple starts a wave of removals and cleanups of weekly-subscription apps aimed at seniors; or your ads run for a month and the payback period still runs longer than the trial-to-refund window.

Where users come from

- Inferred **Paid feed acquisition (Oceanengine, Pangle, Tencent Ads, inferred)** : privacy labels declare IDFA tracking, the page says "Contains Ads"; the developer has a row of Android apps with random package names; no organic content on Douyin or X; the rating curve is flat with no breakout point; a sibling app, "Where Are You", has flat ratings yet sits steady at #25 in Top Grossing

- **Verified** **Store search / ASO** : the title is stuffed with "big-font keyboard", "voice readout", "high-EQ replies", and the subtitle reads "big-font keyboard designed for seniors"; searching for big-font / senior keyboard by name in the cn store returns only this app (appstore library)

- **Verified** **Weekly subscription with 3-day trial that auto-charges** : the IAP list has "3-day free trial ¥48" and "weekly membership ¥48"; reviews say "malicious charges, no notice" and "everything costs money"

- **Verified** **Same paywall copied across several apps** : "Where Are You - family location, care reminders" has ¥48/week, ¥198/year, and subscription terms copied word for word

- Inferred **In-app rating prompts** : average score 4.6, but about half of the visible text reviews are complaints about charges

## Good Keyboard - Custom Big-Font Keyboard, Voice Readout, High-EQ Replies (iOS 6795027550)

**Regions checked** : the appstore library was scanned across all storefronts; it only charted on the China store (cn). Unless noted, figures below are for cn.

### One line

A third-party iOS keyboard for middle-aged and older users: big keys, typed and received messages read aloud, plus "high-EQ scripts" and AI polishing. 3 days free, then ¥48/week, or ¥198/year. The developer is a small, newly registered company in Guangzhou, running a "silver-age care + weekly subscription" play, with the same paywall copied into several apps. It's a **paid-traffic arbitrage product** , not one that grew on product word of mouth; volume is small and no media has covered it.

### Key facts

| Project | Data | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Launched | 2026-08-05; versions 1.0.1 to 1.0.5 (8-17 to 9-30), every update note just says "fixed known UX issues" | App Store page |
| Score | 10-28 is 198, 11-06 is 237; +34 in the last 7 days, averaging 4–5 a day, very steady | appstore library app_day |
| Rating growth | Collected 198 ratings in 84 days after launch (about 2.4/day); the last 9 days average about 4.3/day, **slowly accelerating** (inferred) | appstore library |
| Charts | Ranked #127–154 on the cn Tools Top Grossing chart (10-28 to 11-06); not on the overall or Top Free charts | appstore library |
| Average | 4.6 (239 ratings), but about half of the visible text reviews are negative: "malicious software charges, no notice", "everything costs money", "pricey" | App Store cn page, 11-06 |
| Pricing | Weekly membership ¥48, "3-day free trial ¥48", annual membership ¥198; page marked "Contains Ads" | App Store page In-app purchases |
| Privacy labels | "Used to track you: Identifiers", meaning it reads IDFA, usually because it's wired into ad attribution or an ad SDK; the package is 138 MB, large for a keyboard | App Store page |
| Persona | The provider is **Guangzhou Liangjing Information Technology Co., Ltd.** , unified social credit code 91440106MAECL4D44M (440106 is Tianhe District; the MAE prefix suggests it was newly registered around 2025 years ago); English name Liangjing, not the same as the "Liangjing" in Ningde, Fujian | App Store page |

**Revenue estimate** : the bar for #139 on the cn Tools Top Grossing chart isn't high. Using Lovekey as a reference: it sits at #4 on Tools Top Grossing, and its publicly reported annual revenue is 31M. Scaling by that ratio, the good keyboard likely brings in several thousand yuan a day (**inferred, unverified** ).

### Another app from the same developer: Where Are You - Family Location & Care Reminders (id6783256991)

- Launched on 2026-07-03, lets adult children see their parents' location and movement, with geofencing, a "check in" feature, and SOS. The paywall is **identical** to the good keyboard's: ¥48/week, ¥198/year, subscription terms copied word for word (App Store listing).

- Ranked **#23–26** on the cn Productivity Top Grossing chart with only 66 ratings, and not a single one was added in 10 days (appstore library). Its chart position is much higher than the good keyboard's while its ratings stay flat, suggesting the revenue is carried by paid acquisition and weekly subscriptions, not word of mouth.

- Reviews: "scam", "paid but can't use it, asked for a refund and got none, and no one answers customer service", "48 yuan a week" (appstore library reviews, 7–October).

- Under "Guangzhou Liangjing Information Technology Co., Ltd." on Tencent MyApp there is also a batch of Android apps: Fruit Drink Diary, One Arrow Homeward, Ten Thousand Volumes Idioms, Fun Idiom Recognition, Bean Pattern Sketchbook, Pour Water into Cup, Personal Pension Calculator, Takeout Deal Coupons, Voice Phone Finder, and more. Their package names are random strings like com.adverse.carveadrows and com.aggrav.exhorachubb (sj.qq.com/developer/19788886). This is a classic **mini-game and mini-tool farm** that monetizes through ads or paid acquisition. So this is a traffic studio, not a team focused on elder-friendly products.

### Competitors

| Competitors | Platform | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sogou Input Method (Senior Mode) | iOS / Android, big-company features | 2014 | cn iOS 8.47M ratings, #18 on Tools Top Free | Free; senior mode is just one toggle. The good keyboard breaks it out as its own app and charges weekly |
| iFlytek Input Method (Senior Mode, since 2021) | iOS / Android, big-company features | 2021 (new iOS build) | cn iOS 66k ratings, +2,286 in 7 days | Has had big fonts, voice readout, and dialect recognition for 2021 years, and it's free (reported by China Daily, 2021-01/02); it covers most of what the good keyboard does |
| Baidu / WeChat / Doubao input methods | iOS | 2014 / 2022 / 2025 | 420k / 130k / 19k ratings | Free; Doubao Input is being recommended on Douyin as "install it for your parents" (dialect recognition, no ads) |
| Lovekey Keyboard | iOS | 2024-02 | 53k ratings, #4 on Tools Top Grossing; reported annual revenue 31M, MAU 2.44M | The top of the high-EQ reply keyboard category, aimed at young men dating; the good keyboard reuses the same script features and sells them to seniors |
| Mi Xiaoyu, High EQ Keyboard, Miao Hui, Love Keyboard, Lianzhidao and 20 more | iOS | 2022–2026 | Several thousand to 40k ratings; most have charted on category Top Grossing | All target dating and workplace; only the good keyboard labels itself "senior" |
| Tomodachi Input, Koe Input, Yoyo Input (2023-10) | Android-first | 2022–2023 | On Douyin there's a batch of "godsend for elders who can't read" promo videos | The "elder-friendly input method" category on Android is pushed with Douyin creatives; there's no equivalent on iOS (the appstore library finds nothing by name) |
| System features: iOS Spoken Content / VoiceOver, WeChat "listen to text messages", font enlargement | Big-company features | Very early | Every iPhone has it | They're free and more complete; the problem is that elders and their kids don't know about them, or how to set them up |

**Bottom line** : Searching the China App Store for "large font / elder / senior + keyboard" returns **only this one app** (appstore library app_name, essentially the full set). There's no direct rival on iOS for a paid keyboard built for elders. But its features are all covered by free apps and built-in system features; it only holds a position.

### Growth channels

1. **Feed ad buys (likely, no direct evidence)** : (1) Privacy labels declare IDFA tracking and the page is marked "contains ads"; (2) the developer is a traffic studio with a matrix of apps under random bundle IDs; (3) Douyin, Xiaohongshu and X turn up no organic content about a "good keyboard" (TikHub Douyin searches for "large font keyboard" and "good keyboard for elders", x-radar over the last 90 days, all zero); (4) ratings rise steadily by 4–5 per day with no spike, which fits sustained spend; (5) its sibling app "Zai Na" has flat ratings but holds steady around #25 in Top Grossing, which only paid traffic achieves. The most likely channels are Ocean Engine, Pangle and Tencent Ads, with creatives aimed at adult children buying for parents or at older users themselves. The library has no China ad data, so **unverified** .

2. **Store search / ASO** : The title packs in "large font keyboard", "input broadcast", "high-EQ replies" and "customizable"; the subtitle reads "large-font keyboard designed for seniors". Searching "large font keyboard" finds only this app (appstore library).

3. **"Customers also bought"** : The page's recommendations are Hand-in-Hand Keyboard, Love Words Keyboard, Heartbeat Love Words (dating keyboards), plus phone manager, caller-ID themes, AR measure, wallpapers and driving-test apps, all paid-acquisition utility apps (App Store page). That suggests its users overlap with this inbound traffic, not an elder-care community.

4. **Rating prompts (inferred)** : Average rating 4.6, yet about half of the visible text reviews are complaints about unexpected charges. Store ratings and real experience diverge a lot; a common cause is an in-app rating prompt, **unverified** .

### Why it works

- **Take a verified earner and point it at a new audience** : the "high-EQ reply keyboard" has already proven it can clear ¥31M a year (Lovekey ¥21.5M, 蜜小语 ¥36M, per reports on Zhihu, 36Kr and Chuangye Bang). It takes the same keyboard-extension-plus-scripts model and swaps in an "elders" persona, adding large text and read-aloud.

- **The slot is empty on iOS** : Elder input methods are already a mature category on Android via Douyin creatives (Tomodachi, Koe, Yoyo). On China iOS, searching by name, only this app labels itself an elder keyboard (appstore library).

- **The payer and the user may be different people** : adult children install it for parents and pay, or elders get renewed after a trial. High-ticket weekly subscriptions can pay back paid acquisition; the sibling app "Zai Na" used the same paywall to climb to #25 in the Utilities Top Grossing chart.

- **Very small scale** : Utilities Top Grossing #139, with 237 ratings. It's not a major hit. It's being surfaced mainly because it's "newly listed + steady growth + charted in Top Grossing".

### Differentiation

The surface differentiator is "built for elders": large fonts, read-aloud, input broadcast, plus high-EQ scripts and AI polishing. The features themselves have **no moat** : iFlytek and Sogou have had elder modes with large fonts and voice broadcast for 2021 years, and they're free; iOS has built-in Spoken Content. The real differentiation is **positioning and pricing** : on iOS it was the first to package a "keyboard for elders" as its own app with a weekly fee, then used a traffic studio's acquisition muscle to push it. The positioning helped its ad creatives and store search, so it's one factor; but the volume itself came from paid traffic plus a weekly-subscription payback model.

### What others can borrow

- Take the "elder tool" category validated on Douyin on Android (input methods, large-font weather, large-font maps, find-my-phone) and port it to iOS, claiming the search terms "large font / elder / senior" directly in titles. Others are already doing this: Baihang Maps Large Font Edition (from Guangzhou Longtui) reached #7 in Navigation Top Grossing.

- The same paywall and subscription copy is applied in bulk across several "silver-age care" apps: keyboards for elders, location apps for adult children, both feeding off the same spend.

- The risks should be borrowed too: this playbook depends on auto-charging after trial, with many complaints from older users, plus media exposure, Apple refunds and regulatory risk. For the long run, switch to transparent pricing, such as annual plans or family sharing.

### Copycats

I haven't seen an iOS App directly copying the "elder keyboard". The same idea exists in other categories: Baihang Maps Large Font Edition, 5G Precise Weather (voice broadcast), Weather Forecast – Designed for Middle-Aged and Older Adults; most are small teams from Guangzhou (appstore library).

### Visibility

**Barely anyone knows about it** . Web, Douyin and X searches find no coverage or discussion of it, only the App Store page itself. Revenue has never been disclosed.

### Still unclear

- Acquisition channels and spend: domestic feed ads aren't in our library, and Ocean Engine / Tencent Ads creatives weren't found.

- Revenue: the revenue behind its #139 Top Grossing ranking is an estimate; how the payers split between adult children and elders is unknown.

- Rating solicitation: why there's a gap between the 4.6 average and the negative reviews can't be verified.

- The shareholders and team background of Guangzhou Liangjing weren't found (Qichacha-type pages didn't load).

- The library only starts recording from 10-28, so chart curves from 8 to October are missing.
