# Scan your ticket stub and see where you sat: an App that logs concerts for Japanese idol fans. It went from #154 to #8 in one day, riding the tour season and a borrowed quiz

**What it is** A concert-attendance log app for Japanese idol fans: photograph a ticket and it logs the show and seat automatically; seats map to dots on the venue seating chart, you can see photos of the view shared from the same seat, and cities visited get pinned on a map. Free.

**Why it took off** The week the November Tokyo Dome tour season opened, it picked up ticketing platform Chiketen!'s June-era "idol fan diagnosis" quiz (old links redirect to Ainy), then recruited a batch of micro-influencers with a few hundred to two thousand followers to post #PR videos. Japan's Music free chart has a low bar, and one concentrated wave of downloads pushed it into the top 10.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't build another Japanese attendance-log app. Take the point "seat view photos shared by seat" and move it to Chinese-language concert markets, where people also care about seats and nobody has structured it yet: first complete the photos for the major venues, then copy its playbook: use a shareable quiz as the entry point and assign small fan accounts to each group on the tour calendar for #PR.

C grade: the demand is real and the playbook is clear, worth studying. But it has only 31 ratings, its rank came from a low-competition chart, the tour season and Chiketen!'s quiz traffic that followers can't get, and Japan's category already has a dozen small apps, with Stagenia already in the seat-view niche. Barely anyone knows about it

Ainy! (アイニー) is an app for people who go to idol concerts in Japan: snap a photo of your paper or e-ticket and the show gets logged automatically, your seat lands on the venue seating map, and you can browse stage photos other fans took from the same section. On Nov 4 it jumped from #154 to #8 on the Japan Music Top Free chart in a single day, yet it has only 31 ratings in total, and not one new rating came in on the day it climbed. This piece covers what problem it solves, how the ranking happened, where it is genuinely new, and what anyone looking to follow the playbook can take away.

### A note recommended by a friend

In October 12, a writer named "Chami" posted an article on note titled "[Tried it] An attendance log app for idol fans ⁉️ Ainy ⁉️". She said "a friend recommended it to me like a god-tier app", and mentioned the type she got in the "idol fan diagnosis": "Pilgrim", the kind of fan who travels around the country to attend shows. She logged 17 shows in one go, and each entry made a flag pop up on the Japan map with a "pikon" sound. The feature she most wanted to praise was another one:

> You can see at a specific venue both where everyone sits and what the view looks like from there, all together.

This writer has spent the past year writing experience pieces for another company: the ticketing platform Chiketen!, and one of those articles she herself labeled "※ulterior motive included (w)". The diagnosis that gave her "Pilgrim" is the same one that went viral on X for Chiketen! in June. These threads connect later.

### What it is

In Japan, going to see a live performance is called "sanka". Plenty of people chase one tour across several cities. They can't bear to throw away paper tickets, while e-tickets only live on the phone, so records are scattered across memo apps, X and Instagram alt accounts. Ainy wants to bring all of that into one place:

- **Log by photographing the ticket** : OCR reads the date, venue and seat from the ticket face, generating a record in seconds. Artists and shows are preset, so STARTO (formerly Johnny's) and K-pop group tour dates don't need to be entered by hand.

- **Seats become coordinates** : for the matching venue, "block, row, seat" is converted automatically into a dot on the seating chart; you can photograph the view from your own seat, and browse public photos from the same section.

- **Collection feel** : attendance counts, venue and artist stats, cities visited pinned on a Japan map, and a countdown on the home screen to the next show.

Free, no in-app purchases, no ads. The developer is ESTAS K.K., founded in January 2026, capital ¥5M, based in Shibuya. This is its only App, listed in Sep 1. The Android version on Google Play shows "50+ downloads" (11-06), essentially no volume.

### How it reached #8

| Date | Japan Music free chart | Cumulative ratings | Added that day |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-30 | 138 | 20 | – |
| 10-31 | 154 | 20 | 0 |
| 11-04 | **8** | 20 | 0 |
| 11-05 | 14 | 22 | 2 |
| 11-06 | 29 | 31 | 9 |

(App Store Japan; average 11-06 stars as of 4.97.)

First, how low this chart sits: next to 11-06, ranks 21 to 39 are companion apps for Bose, Shokz and JBL headphones, plus metronome and piano apps. Getting into the top 30 of Japan's Music free chart doesn't take many downloads.

Second, the jump on 11-04: the ranking went from 154 to #8 in one day while ratings didn't move at all, which points to a concentrated wave of downloads that day, from people who hadn't yet started rating. Where this wave came from and how big it was can't be seen from outside (unverified). Three things line up.

**A batch of amateur TikTokers tagged #PR.** From Oct 27 to Nov 6, at least 6 promo videos carried #ad, #pr or #アイニー. The accounts posting them had 60 to 2,200 followers, and single videos drew 487 to 4,016 views. The one from 10-29 @o43.sh_ (1,411 views) has a typical caption: "I used to write each show down one by one in Notes, too many to keep up with. This app made it clear and pretty in no time," followed by a feature list, with "see the seats people actually sat in" second. The accounts are split by group: Super Excel, Naniwa Danshi, Stray Kids and the STARTO groups each have someone, which lines up with the tours the ainy.jp homepage features. 11-02 There is also a video with 150k views that carries #アイニー, but its content is STARTO fans complaining about black-clad venue staff. It looks like a tag grab with little to do with the app (inferred).

**A quiz that already went viral.** "Idol Otaku Diagnosis" sorts idol fans into 16 types (Empress, Pilgrim...). Chiketen! built it at the end of June, it spread on X, and non-no and emmary Jun 30 both wrote about it. The old Chiketen! URL for that quiz now redirects to ainy.jp/diagnosis/otaku (308 11-06 tested), and the first banner on the ainy.jp homepage is that quiz. So a quiz that had already been shared around once now has Ainy's entry point and result page. Both companies work in idol live events. Chiketen!'s operator, Wakusute GK, uses the slogan "rewriting the seat experience," but the people named at each company differ, so whether they are the same team, a subsidiary, or a partnership is unverified. The earlier note author went from Chiketen! through to Ainy.

**November's dome tour season.** Snow Man's "ALL SUITE" dome tour opened in early November, Stray Kids played Tokyo Dome 11-06 to 11-08, SixTONES played Nagai Stadium 11-07, and Hey! Say! JUMP's "Juliet" starts in December. 11-04's peak falls in the opening week of these shows.

Also, a batch of five-star ratings came in during the first few days after the September launch. One said "I downloaded it after seeing it on X" (Xで流れてきて入れました). After that, ratings barely moved for about two months. As of 11-06, every rating is 5 stars. We found no media coverage, press releases, or big X accounts reposting it. Few people know about it yet.

### Whether it can hold users

The pain is real. "What can I see from this seat" has been a major headache in Japanese fan circles: one X thread collecting seat-view photos by venue pulled 5.6M views.11-03 One review praised the app for "easy input and nice visuals," but complained that some past shows were missing while others were there, and that when they added entries themselves, the performers didn't match up.9-06 Another wrote "I've tried lots of logging apps, this is the best one," and asked for fuller friends features.

Retention comes from logging each show, placing a flag, and watching the countdown to the next one. It isn't used often, but users come back for every show. Only 31 ratings is too few to measure retention yet. Whether the ranking holds after PR stops needs a few more weeks to see.

No revenue yet. The most plausible path to money is linking to ticketing: who went to which show and sat where. That data would actually be useful to a platform handling secondary tickets or in-venue seat swaps (pure speculation, unverified).

### Who it's competing with

| Product | Scale (App Store Japan store, 11-06) | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Oshikatsu app Pics | 6,331 ratings, launched 2019 years ago | A general fan calendar and diary, not logged per show |
| LiveSoul | 1,943 ratings, free for 98 users on Music | Individual developer, leaning toward bands and festivals, focused on setlist stats and lottery management; no seat views |
| Live Rock | 687 ratings, launched 2026-02 | Focused on playlists and appearance, runs its own TikTok account, peak single video 66k views |
| LiveNote | 240 ratings | Detailed stats, paid premium tier, manual entry |
| LiveFans(SKIYAKI) | 243 ratings, setlist database since 2011 | Setlist database plus logging, users lean toward bands |
| Tickemo, TicketList, Setory, Livlas, YOiN and others | Each has fewer than 30 ratings | At least a dozen new ones in 2026 alone, all similar: manual entry plus setlists |
| Stagenia | Launched 10-19, 0 ratings | Only does 3D seat-view simulation, head-to-head with Ainy's view feature |
| E-ticketing apps like e+ and Lawson Ticket | e+ 477k ratings | Only handles tickets, not what happens after the show; Ainy sits right after them |

This category in Japan is a pile of small indie apps for logging shows, the biggest with just under two thousand ratings. No big company is in it, and Ainy is neither the first nor the largest. What is actually new is a chain: **photograph ticket → convert seat to coordinates → share seat photos with everyone in that seat** . The more photos there are, the more useful it gets, which gives it some network effect. Add the preloaded idol tour catalog and it targets fans who chase multiple shows across cities, not band fans.

But that chain is not what drove the spike. Ratings didn't move on the day it jumped the chart. The timing matches PR and tour openings. Creators mostly say "see how the seats look," which works more as the best line for paid ads. The photos need to pile up before they become a moat, and Stagenia is already moving in the same direction.

### If it were you

**C** There is plenty to learn, but copying it is not worth the effort. The demand is real and the playbook is clear, but the app itself hasn't broken out. What pushed it onto the chart was a very low chart, borrowed quiz traffic, and tour season. The quiz asset is one that followers can't reuse. In Japanese live-attendance logging you'd be the 15th or so.

**Who it suits** : you are inside an idol or live-event fandom yourself, know a group of fan accounts active on venue and seat topics, and can build up seat photos for a few big venues before launch. Or you already have an entry point fans check (a quiz, ticketing, fan site) and are missing a tool that keeps them around.

**Who it doesn't suit** : people with no community access who hope organic store traffic will carry a logging app. Apps like this cluster in Japan and mostly stall at a few dozen ratings. It's also a poor fit if you want subscriptions from day one, since LiveNote, which runs a paid premium tier, has only 240 ratings.

**How to build it** : don't make "yet another Japanese show-logging app." Two things are worth taking: first, the seat-view idea itself. Move it to a market where fans also care about seats and nobody has structured the data yet, such as Chinese-language concerts (domes and stadiums in mainland China and Taiwan) or K-pop tour cities outside Korea. Map seats and photos for the top dozen venues first, and treat logging as the tool for collecting photos. Second, copy the acquisition approach for your own product.

**How to acquire users** : use something already shared as your entry point. Quizzes, personality types and seat maps all work, as long as the result page is designed to be posted. Find a few influencers with a few hundred to two thousand followers for each group on the tour calendar, post #PR content, and concentrate it in the opening week of each show. Then write venue guides (seat views, transport, food, hotels) to catch searches from people chasing shows across cities.

**When to move** : follow the tour calendar. Japan's dome season runs from November into spring next year. For Chinese-language or other markets, launch before the next big tour sales open locally, so the first users arrive with photos already in hand.

**Signs we got it wrong** : (1) By January 2027, Ainy's ratings are still climbing steadily after PR stops (for example past 300). That would mean retention is better than we assumed and it deserves an upgrade to B. (2) It starts routing users to secondary tickets or seat swaps (for example, Chiketen!). That would mean there is a ticketing business behind it, and the real opportunity is on the ticketing side, not the logging app. (3) The reverse: Stagenia or a large ticketing app builds seat views first, and this opening is gone.

## Ainy!（アイニー）- ライブ参戦記録 (iOS 6795072297)

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data comes from our appstore / googleplay databases ("the database" below), Apple lookup, Jina/Exa search, and TikHub. Anything uncertain is marked as unverified.

### One line

A Japanese "concert attendance log" app for idol fans following STARTO (formerly Johnny's), K-pop and boy bands. Snap a paper or e-ticket and OCR auto-generates the record for that show (date, venue, seat). Seats are placed on the venue seat map automatically, and users can browse "seat view" photos other fans took from the same section. Cities you've attended get pins on a map of Japan, and the home screen counts down to your next show. Free, no in-app purchases. Developer is 株式会社ESTAS (founded 2026-01-05, capital ¥5M, Shibuya, CEO 大野 佑). This is its only app.

### Verdict

It hasn't really "taken off" yet, just surfaced. It has 31 ratings in total. 11-04 it climbed to #8 on the Japan Music Top Free chart, then 11-06 it fell back to 29. This spike came from distribution, not from the product spreading on its own:

1. From 10-27 to 11-06 a batch of TikTok amateur creators posting #PR / #ad videos was paid to promote it.

2. It took over the diagnostic traffic from "チケテン！" (a secondhand ticket platform run by 合同会社ワクステ), a viral "idol otaku diagnosis" quiz that went big on X, plus the same note author who had long written posts for チケテン.

3. It coincided with the November dome tour season, and the home page features those shows.

What truly sets the product apart from competitors is the chain of "ticket OCR → seat map coordinates → shared seat view," but that isn't what's driving growth yet. It's just the most sellable point in the ad creative.

### Data (database, jp store)

| Date | Music Top Free rank | Cumulative ratings | New today | Version |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10-30 | 138 | 20 | – | 1.0.21 |
| 10-31 | 154 | 20 | 0 | 1.0.21 |
| 11-04 | **8** | 20 | 0 | 1.0.22 |
| 11-05 | 14 | 22 | 2 | 1.0.23 |
| 11-06 | 29 | 31 | 9 | 1.0.23 |

- Apple lookup (11-06): 32 ratings, average 4.97. 1.0.23 released on 11-04, and the description says the "concert animation feature is paused, saved data is retained." Categories are Music / Lifestyle.

- 11-04 jumped from #154 to #8 in one day, yet not a single rating was added. There was a concentrated wave of downloads that day, but those users hadn't rated yet. The source could be paid ads, creator videos, or Apple Search Ads, **unverified** .

- The Japan Music Top Free chart has a low bar to entry. Sitting in the 21–39 range alongside it were companion apps for Bose, Shokz and JBL headphones, plus metronome and piano apps, each gaining 7–29 ratings over 165 days (database). So reaching the top 30 doesn't mean high volume.

- Rating rhythm: the first few days (09-02 to 09-06) brought a batch of 5-star ratings, one reading "Xで流れてきて入れました" (saw it on X and installed it). Then nearly two months were quiet, followed by another batch in 11-02 and 11-03. All were 5 stars (database review table, 11 reviews).

- Google Play: jp.estas.ainy shows "50+ downloads" (Play page, 11-06). Almost no volume on Android.

### Competitors

| Stagenia(LIVE2LOVE JAPAN) | iOS | 2026-10-19 | 0 ratings, #77 on Entertainment Top Free (database). | Only does a "seat view 3D simulation," with no logging. It directly overlaps with Ainy's view feature. |
| RiffNote | Web | Not verified | Not verified | Free web-based logging, no app install needed. |
| "Seat view compilation" threads on X, official venue 360° views, and venue guides from HMV and travel sites. | Other | — | @otaku_kawa_i "Seat photo: view from your seat, venue-by-venue roundup" post, 5.6M views | The demand has long existed, scattered across X, blogs and official sites. Ainy wants to collect it by seat inside an app. |
| E-ticketing apps like e+, Lawson Ticket and Ticket Plus | Big-company features | 2011–2017 | e+ 477k ratings (database). | Handles tickets only, with no record of the show afterward. Ainy fits right after them in the flow. |

Bottom line: the "concert attendance log" category in Japan is a crowd of small solo-developer apps, and the biggest has only about two thousand ratings. No big companies here. Ainy is neither the first nor the largest.

### Where users come from (evidence)

1. **TikTok micro-influencer campaigns (verified)** : from 10-27 to 11-06, at least 6 videos tagged #ad / #pr / #アイニー, from accounts with 60–2,200 followers, each getting 487–4,016 views. Examples: @___and.ry (10-27, #ad, 1,153 views), @o43.sh_ (10-29,1,411), @my0nlysky (10-30, #pr), @new_arichan_ (10-29, 超特急 fan, 4,016), @otakunaleeknowlife (11-01), @soleil_64ray (11-06, なにわ男子). Another one, @ykymyou (11-02), posted a video with 150K views tagged #アイニー #参戦記録, but **unverified** whether it's actually about the app. The creators are assigned by fandom (超特急, なにわ男子, Stray Kids, STARTO-affiliated groups), which lines up with the concerts the homepage is pushing.

2. **Diagnostic traffic taken over from "チケテン！" (links confirmed, corporate relationship unverified)** : "アイドルオタク診断" (16 fan types: Empress, Pilgrim…) is a viral quiz built by the secondhand ticket platform チケテン！ (合同会社ワクステ, launched on iOS 2025-08, 1,712 ratings). Someone on X shared "チケテンってサービスの会社がやってる" (the company behind the チケテン service), and non-no (06-30) and emmary (06-30) have both written about it. Now `ticketen.jp/16otaku-shindan` 308 redirects to `ainy.jp/diagnosis/otaku` (11-06 tested). So the quiz that already went viral now has its entrance and all 16 type pages pointing to Ainy. Both companies run idol-concert businesses. ワクステ's own slogan is "座席の概念を塗り替える" (redefining the concept of seats), and Ainy's selling point happens to be seats. But whether ownership and staff overlap is **unverified** (ワクステ's representative is 吉永 洋佑, ESTAS's is 大野 佑).

3. **Same note author (likely a sponsored collaboration)** : The note writer "ちゃみ" has been writing a string of チケテン experience posts for a year (one self-labeled "※下心ありｗ", meaning "with ulterior motives"). 4 months ago they wrote about the diagnostic quiz, and 10-12 they wrote 《【使ってみた】…Ainyって⁉️》, describing it as a "great app a friend recommended" and also mentioning their diagnosis result.

4. **Initial X launch (weak evidence)** : Reviews in the launch week include "Xで流れてきて入れました" (saw it on X and installed it), but our X corpus doesn't contain the relevant posts.

5. **SEO / content (in progress, effect unknown)** : ainy.jp has directory pages for artists, shows, dates, venue seat maps and setlists, plus 17 venue guides from "Ainy編集部" published in batches since 10-17 (Tokyo Dome, Yokohama Arena, Ariake Arena, etc., covering seat views, transport, food and hotels). The sitemap only lists 36 links, so the directory pages aren't included. robots.txt specifically blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot and meta from crawling directory pages. So the claim of "lots of SEO pages" is only half true: the guide articles are being published, but whether the directory pages are indexed is **unverified** .

6. **Timing** : November is arena and stadium tour season. Snow Man's "ALL SUITE" dome tour opens in Hokkaido early November, SixTONES 11-07 at Nagai Stadium, Stray Kids 11-06 to 11-08 at Tokyo Dome, and Hey! Say! JUMP's "Juliet" starts in December. These are the shows on ainy.jp's "Notable Concerts" list, and 11-04's chart peak lands in the opening week of each tour.

7. Nothing found: media coverage, PR TIMES press releases, reposts from major X accounts, Meta / TikTok ad library records (the ad libraries only track listed products, so not finding something doesn't mean it wasn't advertised).

### Why now, and why it stuck

- The pain point is real: fans were scattering their records across X, Instagram alt accounts, notes apps and paper tickets. "What can I see from this seat" already had a compilation thread on X with 5.6M views. Ainy makes "scan ticket → auto-log show → pin on map" a matter of seconds, and the launch reviews praised exactly that (the pin animation, the countdown, the look).

- Retention relies on collection drive (map pins, attendance stats) and the next-show countdown, a low-frequency but sticky habit of "come back and log each show." But with only 31 ratings, retention is **not yet visible** .

- Money: the app is free, with no in-app purchases and no ads. The guessed monetization path: resale or seat-swap referrals through チケテン！ or "セキチェン" (in-venue seat swaps). The data Ainy accumulates on "who's at which show, in which seat" would be useful to a ticket resale and swap platform. **Pure speculation, unverified** .

### Differentiation

- Most competitors are "manual entry + setlists + stats," aimed at band and festival fans. Ainy differs in three ways: ① automatic OCR filling from ticket images; ② "block, row, seat" automatically converted to seat map coordinates (the official site says "matches the venue"); ③ view photos for the same seat shared by users, which become more useful as data grows, giving it a bit of network effect. It also ships with a preloaded show catalog, so idol tour dates don't have to be entered by hand.

- The audience focus differs too: it targets STARTO and K-pop idol fans, especially the "multi-stage / ensei" crowd (people catching several shows on one tour and chasing concerts across cities), not band fans.

- Is this what's driving its growth? Not currently. The day it climbed the chart, not a single rating was added, which lines up with PR creators and tour openings. The differentiation looks more like the pitch that works best in ads (creators almost all say "you can see how the seat looks"). Once seat-view photos accumulate, it could become a real moat. But Stagenia (3D view simulation, launched in October) is already moving in the same direction.

### What to borrow

- **Use existing viral content as the entry point** : a quiz that already went viral isn't wasted. Redirect the old link 308 to the new product, and the result page itself is shareable.

- **Assign amateur creators by group** : following the tour calendar, find a few otaku accounts with a few hundred to two thousand followers for each group, tag them #PR. It's cheap and lands precisely in the week the tour opens.

- **Turn demand scattered across UGC into structured data** : seat-view threads on X become a searchable photo library by seat. The more data, the more useful it gets.

- **Use venue guides for long-tail SEO** : views + transport + food + hotels, catching searches from ensei (chasing shows across cities).

### Still unclear

- Where the download wave that pushed 11-04 to #8 came from (Apple Search Ads, TikTok, or a big account), and how big it was.

- The real relationship between ESTAS and ワクステ (same team, subsidiary, or ad-buying partner), and whether Ainy will refer traffic to チケテン in the future.

- Whether the @ykymyou video with 150k views is related to the app.

- How many seat-view photos exist now and across how many venues, and whether the directory pages are indexed by Google.

- Retention: whether ratings and rank hold steady after the PR stops. There are only 31 ratings so far, too small a sample.
