A tractor driver's bookkeeping app: a farmer vlogger drives €89.99 a year in Slovenia
What it is A Slovenian-language phone logbook for farmers and machine operators: GPS automatically records work and area, imports official parcels, exports inspection forms in one tap, and issues invoices to clients.
Why it took off A local farm vlogger has linked it in every episode since Sep 13, and the viewers are farmers who have to fill in forms. Since 2027, pesticide use must be recorded electronically; the trial locks export and invoicing once it expires, forcing a small number of annual subscriptions, which is enough to reach the top 25 on a shallow chart.
BHow you could follow it Don't copy the app itself, copy the approach: find an agriculture (or other vertical) in your own small country that has mandatory forms, connect official parcel data, put the paywall on export and invoicing, get a local farm vlogger to feature it episode after episode, and launch 3–6 months before the new rule takes effect.

AgroHektar is a one-person farm activity logging app from Slovenia, Slovenian-only. It launched Aug 18, has only 2 ratings on the App Store to date, yet in Nov 5 it climbed to #13 on Slovenia's Productivity grossing chart. It spent nothing on ads and got no press; it rode a young farmer linking it in his vlog every week, plus a new rule that pesticide use must be recorded electronically from 2027. Below: how it makes money, why it took off, and whether you can build something like it in your own country.
A video with a "surprise in the middle"
On Sep 13, the YouTube channel Ekološka kmetija Žnideršič posted Season 3 Episode 58, "Prekinili smo setev!" ("We interrupted the sowing!"). The channel owner is Matjaž Žnideršič, a young farmer near Brežice with 6,250 subscribers, who films daily life on his farm: sowing, harvesting corn, baling, spreading slurry. This episode's description had a new line for the first time: "Link do aplikacije - agrohektar.com", followed by: "There's a surprise in the middle of the video, something that made my work a lot easier."
The previous episode (Sep 6, E57) did not have this line. From E58 onward, through E65 in Nov 1, every episode description carried the link and the #agrohektar tag. View counts per episode (YouTube, 11-06): E58 7,707, E59 18,548, E60 16,802, E61 25,643, E62 16,699, E65 10,236.
Slovenia has only about 2M people. An episode with 10–20K views is watched almost entirely by people who drive tractors and have to fill in parcel forms.
There is a second layer. A channel called Kovačnica Hitov started in Sep 27 and cut Žnideršič's vlogs into Slovenian folk-style songs. The Oct 8 track "Prekinili smo setev! | AgroHektar – nova pesem" (2,615 views) is about this app from start to finish, and the chorus is "Agro Hektar, na kmetiji gospodar" (AgroHektar, master of the farm). Who runs this channel is unclear; the songs look AI-made by a developer or blogger (inference).
The relationship between developer Primož Černelič and the blogger has not been made public. Both are in the Brežice area, and the weather screen in the developer's website screenshot also shows Brežice. The blogger's Ep. 61 was a test-drive partnership with machinery companies Farmtech and Megatrade, which suggests he already takes brand deals (inference: this one may also be paid, or a favor between acquaintances, unknown).
What it is
The homepage tagline: "Vodi delo. Izmeri hektarje." (Run the work. Measure the hectares.) Sit in the tractor, press "Start work," and the phone's GPS logs time, route and hectares covered in the background. It has two modes:
- Kmetija (own farm): enter farm ID KMG-MID to import your GERK parcels directly from the official registry (boundaries and areas come with them); log what each field was planted with, how much fertilizer was applied, and which sprays were used; export the O1, O7, O10 and O11 forms required for agricultural inspections in one tap, as PDF or Excel.
- Usluge (services for others): for machine operators who mow, bale or plow for other people. Price by hour, by bale or by hectare, then tap "Generate PDF invoice" when done; the website says it can be "sent to the client via Viber or WhatsApp in 5 seconds." You can also see who still owes you money and whether your year-end income hits the tax-reporting threshold.
Data is stored only on the phone and can be backed up to the user's own Google Drive; the developer runs no servers.
Where the money comes from
| Tier | Pricing | How you can use it |
|---|---|---|
| Trial | 30 days free, no card, no auto-charge | All features |
| Free plan | €0 | Weather & rain radar, field view, up to 20 logged jobs |
| Pro | €9.99 / month, €89.99 / year | Unlimited records, official spreadsheet export, PDF invoices & quotes, tax ledger |
Source: agrohektar.com (11-06).
The paywall is well placed: on the free plan, everything you log stays visible, but you can't export the form the inspector wants, and you can't issue the invoice you send to a client. Those two are exactly the exits farmers can't do without.
2 ratings, how it got onto the top grossing chart
Slovenia App Store Productivity Top Grossing chart (si store):
| Date | Rank |
|---|---|
| 10-31 | 67 |
| 11-03 | 180 |
| 11-04 | 33 |
| 11-05 | 13 (overall Top Grossing #134 that same day) |
| 11-06 | 25 |
Nov 6, the apps around it are BimmerCode, PowerPoint, Copilot and Authenticator App. Sounds impressive, but this is a very shallow chart: the rating count sits at 2 the whole time, and the Google Play version has only 100+ installs. The rank jumps from 180 to 13, which looks like a handful of annual subscriptions landing, roughly tens of euros a day in revenue (est.).
The timing fits too: the most-viewed E61 was posted Oct 4, the 30-day trial ended right around Nov 3, and November 4–5 is the top-grossing peak (inferred).
Why now
Slovenia changed its plant protection products law (ZFfS-1A): the government must have an electronic pesticide-use ledger in place by Dec 2026 1, farmers must file the previous year's data for the first time by Jan 2027 31, and from 2027 electronic records are mandatory. Autumn is when farmers go back to fill in the year's records. Paper logs that were already a nuisance are now a "must solve."
AgroHektar launched just over four months before the new rules took effect, timed almost perfectly.
Who it's competing with
| Competitors | What it does | Versus AgroHektar |
|---|---|---|
| eKmet(Goodish d.o.o.) | Launched on iOS Sep 2, AI voice entry for pesticide and fertilizer records | Two weeks later, the most direct rival; free for 2026 years, then from 2027 €180/year; no farm-service invoicing or GPS area measurement |
| ŠKROPLJENJE.SI | Spray records only | From €299/year (up to 3 fields), expensive and narrow |
| GERK na terenu | Only tells you which GERK parcel you're standing on and its area | No job logging, no invoicing |
| SOPOTNIK (official) | Satellite monitoring and subsidy-application companion tool | No daily logging; AgroHektar can import crop rotation history from it |
| Tractor GPS, FieldBee, GPS Fields Area Measure, etc. | Global tractor navigation and area measuring | No local forms, no Slovenian language |
| Agrivi, 365FarmNet, xarvio | SaaS for large farms and agronomists | Too heavy, doesn't understand Slovenia's O-series forms |
No local product handles both "compliance records for your own land" and "invoices for work you do for others." The real threat is eKmet, which is free for the whole of 2026: before it starts charging in 2027, price-sensitive farmers may get taken by it first.
Neighboring Croatia already has several products doing the same thing (Poljo, Moj e-OPG, AgroLog), built on Croatia's own ARKOD parcel system, and none have entered Slovenia. This suggests tools that combine "national parcel system + compliant forms" are growing one country at a time.
Can you ride it?
Copying AgroHektar itself makes no sense: Slovenia already has it and eKmet, and the market is only tens of thousands of farmers. What you can copy is the approach:
- Find a vertical in a small country with mandatory forms. Every EU country has a subsidy parcel registration system (Croatia's ARKOD, Austria's INVEKOS, and non-EU countries like Serbia have their own), and pesticide and fertilizer ledgers are becoming mandatory electronically in more and more countries. Each country's forms differ, big players can't be bothered, and that's a solo developer's opening.
- Plug into official data. Let users enter a farm ID to pull their parcels in automatically. This step does more to keep people than any feature.
- Put the paywall at the exits. Let people record freely; charge for exporting forms and issuing invoices.
- One local vertical creator, showing up weekly. Not a one-off ad, but eight straight episodes with the link in the description, then an extra layer of AI songs and Shorts cut from them.
The difficulties are obvious too: you need to be from that country and understand its forms and regulations; a single country's ceiling is a few thousand paying users; and the government might release its own free app.
If it were you
B. A vertical business where one person can earn small money without a crowded field, provided you live in a country with mandatory farm forms and no good mobile tool yet. The ceiling is low, so it's not for anyone aiming big.
Who it suits: indie developers whose native language is a small one, who have family or people nearby who farm or run machinery; who can read their country's agriculture ministry forms and subsidy rules; who know one or two local farm creators. Small countries in Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Central Europe are most like Slovenia.
Who it doesn't suit: anyone aiming at English-language, global markets (global area-measuring tools already have tens of thousands of ratings); anyone who doesn't know local regulations and just wants to get in with translation; anyone counting on one country to reach $10K+ a month.
How to build it: a mobile app, on both iOS and Android (farmers mostly use Android). Three core features: enter a farmer ID to import official plots, GPS auto-logs field work, and one tap exports the country's inspection forms. Add a "do work for others" mode that bills by hour, by bundle, or by hectare, and sends invoices over Viber or WhatsApp, which locals already use. 30-day full-feature trial, no card required; annual plan priced at €60–100. Data stays on the device, so no servers needed.
How to get users: find a local YouTube or TikTok creator who films everyday life on their own farm, negotiate several months of episodes with the link in every description and a line saying "it makes my work so much easier"; then cut their videos into shorts or AI songs. Machinery cooperatives, agricultural advisory offices, and farmer WeChat or Facebook groups during subsidy-filing season are the second channel.
When to launch: read your country's new-rule timeline and ship 3–6 months before electronic ledgers become mandatory, timed so creators start showing it right after harvest, when farmers are filling in the year's records.
Where the math goes wrong: ① After AgroHektar's first e-filing deadline in 2027 February, it dropped out of Slovenia's top 200 Top Grossing chart and never came back, so once the compliance deadline passed, the paying demand stopped. ② After eKmet began charging €2027 in 180, users didn't switch to the cheaper AgroHektar, which suggests farmers would rather use official or free tools. ③ Your country's agriculture ministry itself launched a free mobile record-keeping app.

One line
A one-person farm and agricultural-service work-log app in Slovenia (Slovenian only), launched 2026-08-18. It took off for three reasons. First, a local "young farmer" vlogger on YouTube (Ekološka kmetija Žnideršič, 6,250 subscribers) has been featuring it weekly since Sep 13. Second, the regulatory deadline: from 2027 Slovenia requires electronic pesticide records. Third, it combines official GERK parcel import, O1/O7/O10/O11 inspection forms, and PDF invoices for machinery-service clients in one app. Slovenia's Productivity Top Grossing chart has a low bar, and a few €89.99 annual subscriptions are enough to push it into the top 25.

- Around the si Productivity Top Grossing chart: 22 #11-06 BimmerCode, #23 PowerPoint, #24 Copilot, #25 AgroHektar, #26 Authenticator App (v_chart). si is a small market, so this rank likely means tens of euros a day (inferred, not verified).
- The rating has stayed at only 2 reviews (average 5 stars), and the review count isn't growing, showing a very small user base. The big rank swings (180→13) are typical of a few sporadic subscription payments.
- Google Play version com.agrohektar.app: 100+ installs, 11-02 updates (Play Store page).
- Pricing (agrohektar.com): 30-day free trial, no card required, no auto-charge; after the trial the free version only allows 20 work-log entries; Pro is €9.99/month or €89.99/year, unlocking official-form PDF/Excel export, PDF invoices and quotes, and tax ledgers.
- Inferred: the trial is 30 days with no card. The E61 episode that aired on 10-04 (highest views among the sponsored episodes, 25.6K) brought in trials that expire around 11-03. The Top Grossing peaks in 11-04 and 11-05 line up with "trial expires, manual payment" (inferred, not verified).

| Poljo, Moj e-OPG, AgroLog | Croatian apps / websites | 2025–2026 | Not verified | The same approach already has several players in Croatia's ARKOD system, so it's not entering the Slovenian market |
| Tractor GPS - Field Guidance (Oran Dynamics), Field Navigator, FieldBee | iOS / Android, global | 2023–2024 | US 3,388 / 209 ratings | Tractor GPS navigation and field measurement only, no local compliance forms, no Slovenian language |

| Agrivi, 365FarmNet, xarvio | Big tech / SaaS | From ¥2014 | Enterprise | Aimed at large farms and agronomists, too heavy, doesn't understand Slovenia's O-series forms |
Conclusion: Slovenia has local competitors, but none handles both a farmer's own compliance records and machinery-service invoicing by the hour, bale, or hectare. AgroHektar is the only one that splits the two into "Kmetija / Usluge" modes in one app. eKmet launched two weeks later with an AI-voice plus free-for-a-year approach and is the most direct rival.
3. Growth tactics (evidence)
- Weekly sponsorship from a local farm vlogger (confirmed, main channel)
- YouTube channel Ekološka kmetija Žnideršič (young farmer Matjaž Žnideršič near Brežice, 6,250 subscribers, 367 videos, 2.99M total views; YouTube Data API).
- E57 (09-06) hasn't mentioned AgroHektar yet. From E58 (09-13) "Prekinili smo setev!" on, the description reads "Link do aplikacije - agrohektar.com", and the voiceover says "there's a surprise in the middle of the video... it made my work much easier." Later E59 (09-2.02M views), E60 (09-2.72M), E61 (10-426k), E62 (10-1.12M)... up to E65 (11-110k), every episode carries the link and the #agrohektar tag.
- These views come from Slovenia, a country of about 2M people, and the audience is almost entirely the target users (farmers, tractor operators), so it's very precise.
- "Kovačnica Hitov" song channel (confirmed to exist, operator unverified): the channel was created 2026-09-27, has 14 videos and 56k total views. It cuts Žnideršič's vlog episodes into Slovenian folk-style songs and Shorts. The 10-08 "Prekinili smo setev! | AgroHektar – nova pesem" (2,611 views) is a song about this app throughout, with the chorus "Agro Hektar, na kmetiji gospodar." It looks like a developer or vlogger using AI to make songs, adding another layer of exposure to the sponsorship (inferred).
- Official tutorial channel: the AgroHektar YouTube channel opened 10-06, has 6 "navodila" tutorials, 19 subscribers and 131 views, serving paying users as customer support.
- Regulatory deadline (confirmed): under Slovenia's ZFfS-1A, UVHVVR must have the electronic pesticide-use register set up by 2026-12-01, first filing of the previous year's data is due before 2027-01-31, and from 2027 electronic recording is mandatory (Goodish 2026-10-06 article; eKmet website). Autumn is when farmers catch up on 2026 records.
- No paid ads, X/Reddit discussion, or press coverage found (x-radar shows 90 items in the last 0 days; searches turned up nothing).
4. Why it made the list
- Precise creator: Slovenian-language farm vlogs get 1–25k views per episode, and the audience are people who already drive tractors and fill out GERK forms. Weekly sponsorship sustained by song remixes is enough to cover the target group in a country of only about 2M people.
- Need plus mandate: the O1/O7/O10/O11 inspection forms are already a burden for farmers, and the 2027 electronic pesticide register turns it into something that must be solved.
- The paywall is clear: everything works during the trial, and after it expires, "export" and "invoicing" lock, right before inspections and when billing clients. Machinery-service providers use it to issue PDF invoices and send them to clients via Viber/WhatsApp, so revenue tracks their usage, and they'll pay €89.99/year.
- Small-country chart bar is low: a few annual subscriptions can reach the top 25 of Productivity Top Grossing, even the overall chart. So "hitting Top Grossing" says more about how shallow si's charts are than about scale.
5. Differentiation
- "Own farm + work for others" two modes: farmer mode manages parcels, rotation and compliance forms; service mode manages clients, hourly / per-bale / per-hectare pricing, PDF invoices and e-račun XML, who still owes money, and tax thresholds. Local competitors (eKmet, ŠKROPLJENJE.SI, GERK na terenu) only do compliance records or parcel lookup and don't cover a service provider's income.
- Connects to local official data: enter KMG-MID to import GERK parcels, import crop-rotation history from SOPOTNIK, and use ARSO rain radar and an eDavki annual summary.
- Data stored locally only, with optional backup to the user's own Google Drive. The developer has no server, so costs are close to zero.
- These differentiators are why users would pay; but being seen mostly depends on the vlog sponsorship. Without either, it wouldn't chart at all.
6. Visibility and copycats
- Visibility: few people know about it yet. 2 reviews, 100+ Play installs, no press coverage, no X discussion, revenue not public. It's spreading only within Slovenian farming circles through one vlogger.
- Copycats: eKmet (Goodish, launched 09-02) came two weeks later with heavily overlapping features and is pitching "2027 electronic records" and "2026 free for a year". It's a contemporary competitor, though it can't be confirmed to have copied AgroHektar. No clear copycat has been spotted so far.
7. What's worth borrowing
- Small country, small language, and a vertical with mandatory compliance forms (agricultural subsidy parcel systems: Croatia's ARKOD, Serbia, Austria's INVEKOS...). One person plus one local vertical creator can build a paid product.
- The developer's influencer playbook is easy to copy: pin the link in your bio every week, say "made my work so much easier" in voiceover, then cut the vlog into AI songs and Shorts for extra reach.
- The paywall sits on "export / invoicing," the must-have exit, and the trial doesn't require a card, which lowers the barrier to starting.
- Launch 3–6 months before the new regulation takes effect.
VIII. Unknowns
- The relationship between developer Primož Černelič and blogger Žnideršič (paid partnership, friends, or co-founders) is unverified. A search snippet for the Facebook page @pcernelic (828 followers) shows the same wording as the E61 bio, and both live around Brežice (Dečno selo and Črnc pri Brežicah); the weather location in the website screenshot is Brežice.
- It's unclear who runs Kovačnica Hitov.
- Actual paying users and revenue are unknown; chart position is only a relative signal.
- It's also unclear whether users will be pulled away by free products before eKmet's free period ends in 2027.
