Free attendance book launched two weeks before the school year: a Saudi teachers' paid platform grabbed the new school year with a generic term
What it is A free Arabic attendance book for Saudi teachers: take roll, grade students in one tap, record scores into the Ministry of Education's Noor system, and includes classroom mini-games.
Why it took off It launched two weeks before the school year. Its parent brand Tahdiri already had over a hundred thousand paying teacher users, plus TikTok and X accounts. Local explainer accounts then made videos about the materials teachers must submit for evaluation, which spread as soon as school started.
CHow you could follow Don't copy it in Saudi Arabia. Pick a country with a national unified education system and fewer local-language alternatives, then build a free classroom tool that connects to the official system and produces evaluation materials. Launch two weeks before local school starts, and acquire users through explainer videos and teacher groups.

"الإدارة الصفية" (Arabic for "classroom management") is a free App for Saudi teachers that takes attendance, gives students behavior scores, records grades into the Ministry of Education's Noor system, and includes classroom mini-games. It launched in Aug 20267, and after three months had 4,072 ratings and a 4.86 score, peaking at #3 on the Saudi education free chart. The maker isn't a newcomer; it's Tahdiri (تحضيري), a lesson-planning platform Saudi teachers were already paying for. The product itself has nothing new. It wins on three things: it launched with the school year, it had existing teacher users, and its name uses a word teachers would search for. To follow this, Saudi Arabia no longer has room, but the playbook itself is worth learning.
An explainer video with 210k plays
2026 Sep 1: the Saudi school year had just passed its first week. An account called "مكتب سرعتي للخدمات الإلكترونية" ("Sor'ati Office for Electronic Services") posted a TikTok titled "🌟شرح تطبيق الإدارة الصفية من #تحضيري راااائعة" (Explaining the Tahdiri classroom management App, it's amazing). The account had only 5,800 followers, but by 11-06 this video had 217k plays and 6,474 likes.
Its hashtags are worth noting: #الاداء_الوظيفي (teacher performance evaluation) and #مدرستي (Madrasati, the Ministry of Education's online learning platform). The video doesn't say "this App is fun"; it says "it helps you get through evaluations and connects to the official system."
In the days before and after, Saudi tech account @micronksa (25k followers) and education account @db88_ed (14k followers) each posted something too, all in the 130k-play range (TikTok, 8-29 to 9-08). Whether these accounts were paid can't be told from the videos.
What it is
An Arabic "electronic attendance book" that teachers use in front of students during class:
- Roll call and attendance, with automatic attendance tracking;
- One-tap student grading: participation, performance, oral and written tests, can be given to one student or the whole class, and each student gets a record with icons;
- Connects to the official system: import the student roster from Madrasati / Noor and enter grades into Noor from the app;
- Classroom games: random name picker, treasure hunt, quick-answer rounds, with badges and certificates;
- Works offline.
The whole app is free, with no in-app purchases on the store page. The money is on Tahdiri's side: its core business is plugins and a courseware library that prep lessons on Madrasati in one click, at 75 riyals a year (about $20, per the tahdiri.com FAQ), with group subscriptions available from 10 users. So this app is a traffic funnel, not a money-maker.
How big it is
- iOS: 4,072 ratings, 4.86 stars (11-06). In the first 80 days after launch, it averaged about 48 ratings a day. Growth nearly stalled by October, then 11-01 to 11-03 brought another 31, 41 and 33 ratings in three days, after which it settled back to 0 to 3 a day.
- Chart: Saudi Education, Top Free 10-28, ranked #15,11-02 then #3, now hovering around #8.
- Android: 28,326 total installs, up 3,090 in the last 7 days (Google Play, 11-06).
The small early-November spike lines up with 10-30 shipping version 4 (added rating sounds, student-level and learning-difficulty analysis, and a teacher-performance link for principals). Many of the five-star reviews from those days just give a first name or a place name, like "هدى", "Reem", "ام فطومه", which looks more like the new version re-triggering the rating prompt than a new wave of users (inference).
Apple doesn't publish iOS download counts. Extrapolating from Android's 28k, iOS is probably in the same range, possibly higher (estimate; iPhone share is high in Saudi Arabia).
Where users come from
- School start dates (confirmed). Saudi Arabia's 1448 school year: teachers return 8-16, students start 8-23 (Ministry of Education calendar). The Android version launched 8-04, iOS 8-07, just in time for teachers preparing for the new year one or two weeks out.
- Tahdiri's existing users (confirmed). The Tahdiri Chrome extension has 100k users, the Android main app has 164k installs, and the iOS main app has 5,211 ratings. Its users are all working Saudi teachers, the same people the new app is targeting. The X account @dev903090 posted 7,900+ tweets, and 9-02 published a full intro thread with iOS, Android, Huawei and Windows download links together. The TikTok account @tahdiri has 27k followers, and from late August into September it posted tutorial videos back to back, each getting 23k to 84k views.
- Local tutorial accounts (confirmed they exist; whether paid is unverified). These are the first few entries above.
- A TikTok account dedicated to this app (confirmed). @edara_safia, named "تطبيق الادارة الصفية" ("classroom management app"), with 1,232 followers, and its bio links straight to the download page. Its video "entering grades into Noor from the app" got 10-21 63k views, fifty times the account's follower count.
- The name is the search term (inference). "الإدارة الصفية" is the common Arabic term in education, and it appears in teacher-training courses and teacher evaluations. Teachers searching the store for this phrase find it directly. Rival كشوف later rebranded itself in 8-30's TikTok as "the #1 classroom management app," and another small app called itself "the classroom management app from ابداع" in its videos. Even competitors are borrowing the term, which suggests the name was well chosen.
I found no record of it running paid ads, but that doesn't mean it didn't.
Why teachers stay
The store reviews are plain:
- "It is the best app that I have used since the time I started teaching." (10-31)
- "انصح كل معلم يجربه / عملي جداً ومريح ويختصر عليك الكثير" (I recommend every teacher try it. Practical and comfortable, saves you a lot of effort, 10-31)
- "التطبيق مره حلو ويساعد كثير على التواصل بينك وبين الطلاب" (A really nice app that helps you communicate a lot with your students, 10-29)
Most of the feature requests are about wanting more from it: "My class has 27 students, and the random picker picks the same person two or three times. Can the next update avoid repeats?" (11-01, four stars); "Can all records be shared with the head teacher through one link, so I don't have to send them one by one?" (10-25); "Want a Mac or web version" (10-15).
It also ships fast. In about two months, from 3.0 to 4.0, it released roughly 10 versions: an attendance column, Noor grade entry, a performance link for principals. Many of these were features reviewers had asked for.
The deeper reason is evaluation. Each year, Saudi teachers' performance reviews require evidence portfolios (شواهد). This app produces certificates, records and links for principals, so even teachers who don't love it have a reason to open it every day. The tutorial videos use the #الاداء_الوظيفي (job performance) hashtag for exactly this reason.
Who it's competing with
Crowded, and most of them launched earlier.
| Product | Scale (Saudi Arabia, around 11-06) | How it compares |
|---|---|---|
| كشوف Kushoof (solo developer, launched 2020) | iOS 15,579 ratings, +1,059 in 7 days; Android 112k installs; Education chart 31–41 | Almost identical features, six years in the market. It was paid, then announced a "limited-time free" offer around 8-16. Its ratings grew faster than this app's, but its chart rank was much lower, reason unclear. |
| المعلم الذكي (launched 2025-08) | 1,673 ratings, Education chart 11–29 | Can also enter Noor grades, but the free version only allows 1 classes |
| ClassDojo | Saudi iOS 37,819 ratings | Global, mostly English, home-school communication focus; doesn't connect to Noor / Madrasati |
| وافي Waafy | 343 ratings | Focuses on lesson-prep question banks, competes with Tahdiri's core business; classroom management is a side feature |
| The Ministry of Education's مدرستي / نور | مدرستي ranks #1 in Education | Teachers must use it, but live in-class scoring and games aren't good; third parties build "shortcut layers" on top of it |
| A batch of small apps launched between 8 and October | كشوفات 14 ratings; شواهد المعلم, المعلم الرقمي, منارة المعلم each have about 5 ratings | They launched in a cluster at the same time and have almost no traction |
The last line shows the problem: building an app like this isn't hard. Five or six appeared between 8 and October. The hard part is getting teachers to know about it. Kushoof has been around for six years as a one-person project, and Tahdiri has a ready-made base of hundreds of thousands of teachers. Newcomers have neither.
If it were you
C: You can learn from it, but don't try this in Saudi Arabia. That slot is already held by an established brand with hundreds of thousands of loyal users and a six-year-old rival, and a new small app only has single-digit ratings. What you can take away is the playbook: pick a country with a unified official education system, build a "shortcut layer for classroom use" on top of it, launch two weeks before school starts, name it with the generic term teachers already search for, and tie the features to teachers' evaluations.
Who it's for: developers who have taught, or have a teacher in the family, with 1 to 2 people on the team; who know a country's official education system well and know which materials teachers must submit each term; ideally with an existing teacher group, teacher accounts or users of an older product.
Who it's not for: anyone who wants a global, one-size-fits-all version (that's ClassDojo's territory); anyone who doesn't know what local teacher evaluations require or can't connect to the official system (those two things are exactly where local apps beat ClassDojo); anyone counting on this app alone to make money (this category is free across the board, and even Kushoof, which charged for six years, switched to a limited-time free offer before school started. The revenue has to come from the core product: courseware, question banks, group subscriptions).
How to do it: start by picking the country. The criteria: a nationwide academic or grading system, teachers must submit materials for evaluation, and few local-language apps in the category. Other Gulf states, Egypt, Turkey and Indonesia can each be checked first by searching the local term for "classroom management" in the store (inference; check which countries are empty before committing). The product can be simple: attendance, one-tap scoring, random picker and mini-games, exportable records for principals, plus a feature to import the official roster. Works offline, no class limits, free.
How to get users: launch two weeks before school starts, release a burst of tutorial videos in the first month of school, each covering one feature. Copy the approach of @edara_safia's "entering grades in the app" video. Find local TikTok accounts that cover "e-services" and "teacher evaluation", and tag videos with the names of the evaluation and official systems. Use the generic local education term in your store title.
什么时候之前:赶目标国家的下一个学年。大多数北半球国家是 2027 年 8 月底到 9 月,要在 2027 年 7 月前做完、8 月初上架;印尼是 7 月开学,得更早。错过开学,就要再等一年。
Signs you've misread the market: (1) the country you picked already has two or three free, local-language apps that connect to the official system when you search "classroom management" in the store; (2) a month into the school year, tutorial videos and teacher groups have driven fewer than a few thousand installs, which suggests teachers in that country aren't on TikTok, or the official system is already good enough; (3) check its own trajectory: at the start of the second semester, if its Saudi ratings and Android installs don't rise again, the school-start traffic was a one-time spike, teachers dropped it after one semester, and you need to figure out how to get them back for semester two.

الإدارة الصفية (Classroom Management, iOS 6798008136) research report
In short: this is Tahdiri (تحضيري), a Saudi paid tool for teachers built by Makkah's Sarouh Al-Multaqa company. Since 2022, it has sold a one-click lesson-prep plugin and app for the Madrasati platform at 75 riyals a year. Ahead of the August 2026 school year, it launched a free classroom management app. It has three things going for it: timing the school start (listed 8-07, teachers return 8-16, classes start 8-23); Tahdiri's existing users and owned channels (100k Chrome extension users, 160k Android app installs, 27k TikTok followers, 7,900 posts on X); and explainer videos from Saudi TikTok teacher and e-services accounts, at 80k to 220k views per video. The product edge comes down to three points: free, native Arabic, and integration with Saudi official systems (importing student rosters from Madrasati / Noor, and entering grades into Noor). These let it beat the paid incumbent كشوف (Kushoof) and the global giant ClassDojo. It isn't a new species, though: an established brand is using a free product to capture back-to-school traffic.
1. How to read the data card (correcting first)
- Listed: 2026-08-07 (iTunes lookup). The Android version com.tahdiri.manage came out three days earlier, 2026-08-04 on Google Play (googleplay library).
- The small spike lines up with the version update: Version 4 shipped on 2026-10-30, with release notes covering "review sounds, student level and learning difficulty analysis", plus a "teacher performance link for principals" (App Store page / iTunes lookup). A new version often re-triggers the in-app rating prompt; many reviews are five-star with only a name or a place name like "عواطف", "إيمان حملي" or "نجران", which looks prompt-driven. So the surge over these 3 days is more likely the new version plus the rating prompt, not a new wave of outside traffic (inferred, unverified).
- Charts: Saudi Education Top Free 10-28 #15, 11-02 #3, 11-03 #4, then down to 6–8 (appstore.app_day best_cat_rank). The card's "peak #8" is that day's figure; the best rank in the library is #3.
- Android: 28,326 cumulative installs, +3,090 in the last 7 days; the library shows 10-29 as 25,236, i.e. about 400–1,000 a day (googleplay.app_day).
- Monetization: the app itself is free, with no IAP marker on the App Store page. The parent brand Tahdiri charges an annual fee; the FAQ reads "قيمة الاشتراك: 75 ريال", covering all courses and services, with group subscriptions starting at 10 people (tahdiri.com/FAQ.html, pricing-data). One user review says "subscribing to تحضيري comes with this app" (App Store review, 2026-10-08). So it's a free acquisition product, with the money coming back through Tahdiri's main subscription.
2. Competitors
| Competitors | Platform | Launched | Scale (Saudi Arabia) | How it differs from "الإدارة الصفية" |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| كشوف Kushoof(Abdullaziz Alnaiem) | iOS / Android / Windows | iOS 2020-08 | iOS 15,579 rating, +1,059 in 7 days; Android 112k installs; Saudi Education Top Free 31–41 | The most direct local rival, with nearly identical features (attendance, behavior icons, random name picker, groups, reports to parents). It was originally paid (subscription plus discount codes), but 2026-08-16 announced it was "free for a limited time". Its ratings climbed faster, yet its chart rank is clearly lower (appstore library). |
| ClassDojo | iOS / Android / web | 2012 | Saudi iOS 37,819 rating, +104 in 7 days; global Android 53.7M installs; Saudi Education chart 11–22 | Globally used, leaning toward points-based motivation and home-school communication; the interface is mostly English and does not connect to Noor / Madrasati |
| المعلم الذكي(Faris Albalawi) | iOS | 2025-08-28 | 1,673 rating, chart 11–29 | Similar features, also can enter grades into Noor, with iCloud sync; the free version only lets you create 1 classes, and more require a subscription |
| وافي Waafy(SAUD ALSHAMRANI) | iOS | 2025-09-05 | 343 rating | Built around one-click lesson prep on Madrasati and a 40k question bank, competing head-on with Tahdiri's main product; classroom management is just a side feature |
| Classera / Classlight | iOS / Android | 2016 / 2020 | 30,855 / 8,669 rating | An LMS bought by schools, not a personal tool for teachers |
| مدرستي / نور / حضوري (official Ministry of Education platforms) | iOS / web | 2020– | مدرستي 26,885 ratings, ranked #1 in Education | Official platforms. Teachers must enter grades and attendance there, but instant in-class feedback, games and motivation features are poor; third-party tools all build "quick-access layers" around them |
| A pile of 2026 8–October small tools launched around the same time | iOS | 2026-08~10 | كشوفات 14 rating, شواهد المعلم 5, المعلم الرقمي 4, منارة المعلم 5, مُعين المعلم 5, أثر المعلم (same developer as Kushoof) 5 | Launching in the same window with almost no traction shows the bar is low and the field is crowded; what separates the winners is distribution |
Takeaway: there are plenty of competitors, and the local veteran كشوف has been around for 6 years. This wasn't an empty niche; it wins on free pricing, school-start timing and an established brand's channels stacked together.
3. Growth tactics (where users come from)
- School-start timing (confirmed): the Saudi Ministry of Education calendar shows that for the 1448 school year teachers return on 2026-08-16 and students start on 2026-08-23 (moe.gov.sa calendar; mdares.ai). Android launched 8-04 and iOS 8-07, right in the one or two weeks before teachers prepare for the new year.
- Tahdiri's own channels and old users (confirmed):
- X @dev903090:7,930 tweets. 2026-09-02 posted a full intro with download links for iOS / Android / Huawei / Windows (x.com/dev903090/status/2095148114961215550).
- TikTok @tahdiri: 27k followers, posting explainer videos in a row from late August into September, with single videos at 84k, 71k, 41k and 23k views (TikHub).
- They posted a tutorial series on YouTube ("الفيديو الخامس" and others). There are also Telegram and WhatsApp channels, and Snapchat.
- Existing base: Chrome extension "تحضيري" 100k users (chromestore library); Android "تطبيق تحضيري للمعلم" 164k installs (googleplay library); iOS main app 5,211 rating (appstore library). These are all working Saudi teachers, whose audience fully overlaps with the new app's target users.
- Local TikTok creators / e-services accounts explaining it (videos confirmed; whether they were paid is unverified):
- @myspeedoffice ("مكتب سرعتي للخدمات الإلكترونية", 5,800 followers): posted 2026-09-01, 217k views, 6,474 likes, tagged #الاداء_الوظيفي (teacher performance evaluation) and #مدرستي.
- @micronksa (25,046 followers, tech content): posted 2026-08-29, 136k views.
- @db88_ed (14k followers): posted 9-08, 137k views.
- There are also @m0faq (19k followers, "مجاني ورائع"), @kayan4335, @almalki640 and others. The view counts were all pulled from TikHub 2026-11-06.
- Confirmed: a series matrix: TikTok @edara_safia 「تطبيق الادارة الصفية」, 1,232 followers, with the bio linking straight to the k.tahdiri.com/m/ download page. The 10-21 video about logging grades to Noor in the app got 63K views, and 10-31's educational game got 26K views.
- Store search / naming (inferred): the app name is simply the common Arabic education term "الإدارة الصفية" (classroom management). The phrase is a fixed entry in teacher-training courses and teacher performance evaluations, and there are many articles online titled "استراتيجيات الإدارة الصفية". When teachers search the store for this term, they are very likely to land on it.
- Paid ads (none seen): metaads has no advertiser record for Tahdiri or this app. But the ad library only tracks products on its list, so not finding it doesn't mean no ads ran.
4. Why it stuck
- Reviews focus on "no more paper attendance books", "everything in one app" and "students are more engaged". One teacher says "this is the best app I've used in my whole teaching career", and others directly compare it with كشوف (App Store reviews, 2026-10).
- It iterates fast on teachers' needs: from 3.0 to 4.0, roughly 10 versions in two months. It added an absence column, Noor grade entry, student level analysis and a performance link for principals, many of them requests raised in reviews (reviews 2026-10-05 "ارجو ربطة بنظام نور" and "ناقص خانة الغياب").
- It ties into Saudi teachers' yearly performance evaluation (الأداء الوظيفي), which requires supporting evidence (شواهد): it can produce certificates, records and links to show principals, so teachers have their own reason to keep using it.
5. Differentiation
- Free with no class limit: المعلم الذكي's free version allows only 1 classes, while كشوف was paid. This is probably one reason كشوف announced "free for a limited time" in 8-16 (the timing fits; the causation is inferred).
- Connects to local official systems: imports student rosters from Madrasati / Noor and enters grades into Noor. Global products like ClassDojo can't do this.
- Classroom games + motivation (treasure hunts, quiz races, badges, certificates), plus offline use, turns the "attendance book" into a tool teachers can use in front of students.
- Backed by a paid platform with a brand: teachers already know Tahdiri, so trust costs are low.
Is this what made it take off? Free + local system integration are necessary conditions, but others already offered them. What really separated it is the school-start timing and Tahdiri's ready-made channels. So my read is that it was mainly "distribution playbook + existing resources + timing", with the product simply not holding it back.
6. How many people have seen it
- No media coverage, and no revenue disclosed. A local corpus search in x-radar for "الإدارة الصفية" and "dev903090" returned 0 results.
- Spread is limited to Saudi teacher circles (TikTok explainer accounts, teacher X circles): it's being passed around within a small community.
- Copycats have already appeared: @abdasteam's "ابداعي برو" in its October video calls itself "تطبيق الادارة الصفية من ابداع", riding on the name; كشوف in 8-30 changed its TikTok wording to "التطبيق الاول في الإدارة الصفية" (the first app in classroom management); and from 8 to October a string of similar small apps were listed.
7. What to borrow
- Ship on the school-year rhythm: launch education tools 1–2 weeks before school starts, and put your explainer videos out in the first month of term.
- Paid platforms split out free single-product funnels: single products named with generic category keywords to capture store search; the money comes back through the main subscription.
- Plug into local official systems: build a "shortcut layer" on top of them (importing rosters, entering grades). That's what keeps people around, more than adding features.
- Tie it to a hard KPI: link the feature to teachers' performance review materials, so teachers have a reason to open it every day.
8. Still unclear
- Real iOS downloads (Apple doesn't publish them). Estimated at 28k based on the Android figure; iOS may be the same order of magnitude or higher, unverified.
- How many free users converted to Tahdiri's 75 SAR subscription.
- Are the TikTok tutorial accounts paid partnerships or organic? Electronic-service accounts like @myspeedoffice and @micronksa often take promo deals, but I see no clear ad disclosure.
- Whether the 11-01 to 11-03 rating push was purely from the rating prompt; whether it can keep climbing on organic traffic depends on the second semester.
- Kushoof's rating rose faster (7 days, +1,059) but its chart position is lower; the rating-to-download ratios of the two differ a lot, reason unknown.
