Remitra Pay: Send Money · Remitra Inc.

# CA$1 turns into ₹85: a remittance app only 36 days old bought Diwali

**What it is** A Canadian cross-border remittance app that only sends money to a bank account. It mainly serves Indian and Punjabi Canadians sending money home.

**Why it's blowing up** New users get a 300 CAD → 1 CAD remittance deal into 85 INR (mid-market rate about 66.9). Creators post in their native language on Facebook / Instagram with "comment the keyword for the link," timed right before the Diwali remittance rush.

**C** **How you could ride it** Don't build a remittance app (it needs licenses, payment rails and subsidy money, and you're up against Wise and Remitly). Copy its acquisition playbook instead: a first-order price where the gap is easy to calculate, a community holiday deadline, same-community creators in the native language, and automated DMs triggered by comments. Apply it to a high-frequency product aimed at immigrant communities.

Grade C: the chart climb came from paying CA$36–80 per new user, plus financial licenses and payment rails. An indie developer can't float that or get those. The space also has Wise, Remitly and My Beacon fighting on price. What's worth taking is the acquisition playbook, not following the product. Few people know about it yet

Remitra Pay only launched in Canada in Oct 1. By Nov 6 it hit #1 in the App Store's Canada Finance free chart and #4 overall. It has no new features. The method is simple: first-time users get a rate about a quarter above market, Punjabi and Indian creators on Facebook say 'comment MONEY for the link', and the deadline lands on Diwali. Below: where the money went, whether it keeps users, and what you should take from it.

### A 50-second video

Early on Oct 31, a Toronto creator called rjsahil posted a 50-second vertical video on Facebook. The caption is Hindi mixed with English:

> Remitra Pay by abhi: 1 CAD = ₹75 INR is what it's giving right now, while Google shows the rate at 67–68. No transfer fee…… Comment PAY and I'll DM you the app link. (Remitra Pay is currently turning 1 Canadian dollars into 75 rupees, while Google's rate is 67–68.)

That same week, at least three or four other accounts posted the same script. 'Punjabi Vlogger' wrote 'Best Offer🔥 $1 CAD = ₹75 INR… register before Nov 8 to claim'. 'Virat In Toronto' wrote '👇 comment MONEY, app link auto-sent to your DMs'. The hashtags were #IndianCommunityInCanada and Punjabis in Canada. A few days later, every 75 in the copy had changed to 85, and the title read 'Diwali Dhamaka' (Diwali blowout).

On Nov 6 I opened remitrapay.com. The 'today's rate' line on the homepage read: ~~66.8639~~ **85.0000 INR** .

### What it is

An app that only does 'send money from Canada to a bank account abroad.' The developer, Remitra Inc., is based in Concord, Ontario, and was founded in 2025. Its LinkedIn lists 2–10 employees and 26 followers, and it has only this one app. The store listing says it reaches 50+ countries, but judging by its ads and reviews, it's almost entirely focused on one thing: Indian and Punjabi Canadians sending money home every month.

Its own pitch is 'built in Canada, personal data stays in Canada' and 'see the rate, fee and amount received before you confirm'. Honestly, Wise and the established RemitBee offer all of that. It's also thinner on features than its rivals: no instant UPI payout in India, no cash pickup, no wallet, bank-account delivery only. **It climbed not because the product is different, but because it offers the best rate.**

### How big it really got

| Timeline | Canada Finance free chart | Score |
|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | Bouncing between #29 and #64 | 16 |
| 11-04 | Same as above | 30 |
| 11-06 | **#1** (#4 overall free) | 59 (App Store live, average 4.2) |

Its rating count doubled in a single day. On Google Play it's much smaller: an estimated 1,400 installs, with about 380 new in the last 7 days (11-06).

Ranked #1 sounds impressive, but Canada's finance Top Free chart is mostly big bank apps like RBC and TD, so a new app only needs a few thousand fresh installs in a few days to get there (my inference). The more telling signal is another name on the same day: My Beacon, which also pitches "Canada to India" transfers, jumped from #55 to #5 on the finance Top Free chart as of 11-05 and 11-06. Both climbed together. What's driving them is the pre-Diwali remittance rush, plus both sides running subsidized-pricing wars.

### How the money was spent

**A bait you can do the math on.** For a new user's first CA$300 or less, CA$1 gets ₹85 (it used to be ₹75). The mid-market rate that day was about ₹66.9. A user can check this on their own phone, and the free money is obvious:

| First-order rate | Above mid-market | Platform subsidy on a first CA$300 |
|---|---|---|
| ₹75 | About 12% | About ₹2,400, roughly CA$36 |
| ₹85 | About 27% | About ₹5,400, roughly CA$80 |

Add the creator fees (I saw no #ad label, so I infer paid partnerships; amounts unknown), and each new user cost tens of Canadian dollars to acquire.

**A set of creators who fit.** Canada's Indian and Punjabi communities are large, send money often, and cluster on Facebook and Instagram. Local creators saying 'Google only shows 67' in Hindi and Punjabi are more believable than any ad. View counts from the posts' titles: Punjabi Vlogger 33k, Virat In Toronto 25k, rjsahil 9 thousand (11-06; the view count shown on Facebook for a single video is lower, probably because only one version was counted).

**A mechanical conversion step.** 'Comment MONEY / PAY and the link is auto-DMed to you.' Comment auto-reply tools turn each comment into a lead, and they also push the post's engagement up.

**A deadline that was fixed.** ₹75 was first given a 10-31 deadline, later pushed to 11-08. The ₹85 Diwali price ends 11-10. Diwali falls on Nov 8 in 2026.

By comparison, its own TikTok has only 167 followers and a few hundred views per post. Nobody discusses it on X or Reddit, and no media has covered it. Almost all its traffic was bought through creators.

### What users said

Of the 6 reviews visible on the App Store, 5 are five-star. They're all about rates and speed:

> Used Remitra Pay to send money home for the first time yesterday. At first I was skeptical about trusting a new app, but its rate was better than the others, and the money arrived in a few minutes. (11-01)

> Sent money to India to see how long it would take. It arrived in 10 minutes. (10-31)

The only one-star review is about account setup: 'Identity verification in the app is too hard, I had to re-upload documents over and over' (10-19). For a new brand in finance, that's the core obstacle: users fear losing money, the platform fears money laundering, and the stricter the verification, the more first orders are lost. On TikTok it posted videos specifically about 'check the regulatory license first', and its website says it operates 'in line with Canada's money services business requirements'. Both are attempts to build trust. The positive reviews come in clusters with similar wording. That's common for new apps, and it may be prompted rather than organic, which I couldn't verify.

### Who it's competing with

| Name | 11-06 Canada Finance free chart | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| My Beacon | #5 (#55 the day before) | Also targets Canada→India, zero fees, instant UPI payout, plus bill payments. Diwali offers ₹80 to new users to compete |
| Wise | #9 | Mid-market rate plus transparent fees, multi-currency worldwide, no subsidies |
| Remitly | #16 | Global giant, also has new-customer offers, cash pickup and wallet delivery |
| Taptap Send | #25 | Focused on Africa and South Asia, delivers to mobile wallets |
| RemitBee | #38 | Canada's established Canada→India provider |
| Western Union | #42 | Has physical branches, wider spread |
| Bank wire transfers | — | Already on users' phones, but expensive |

A small remittance app that launched this year (Boglefx) is at #168. It's also new, but without subsidies or creators, it never took off.

The model of 'lose money on the first order to win the new user, then earn it back through spreads and fees over the following months' isn't new. Remitly and Wise have run it for over a decade. Remitra's only twist is that it concentrates its money on one community, one rail and one holiday.

### After the subsidy ends

The real problem comes after Nov 10. Remittance is a high-frequency need, and if half the people who send money home each month stay, a few dozen dollars of acquisition cost pays back within a year (inference). But this group is also the most rate-sensitive, and whoever has the cheapest first order gets the signup. My Beacon has already matched ₹80, and Remitly has long offered new-customer pricing, so users can take one first-order discount from each. What keeps people after that isn't visible yet.

Also, when searching the name: a US medical procurement payments platform is also called Remitra (part of Premier Inc.). It's unrelated to this one.

### If it were you

**Verdict:** Don't build a remittance app. It's a business that needs licenses, payment rails and subsidy money, and your rivals are Wise, Remitly and My Beacon, which is already in a price war. Remitra reached #1 because it was willing to spend CA$30–80 on each new user. What's worth taking is its acquisition playbook, not its product.

**Who it suits:** Teams already inside an immigrant community who know its creators, and who have a product the community needs often and can see the savings at a glance: international phone plans and eSIMs, return flight tickets, bank accounts and credit cards for newcomers, insurance for family back home, remittance rate comparison tools.

**Who it doesn't suit:** Small teams wanting to build their own remittance, wallet or cross-border payments (Canada requires FINTRAC money services business registration, compliance review, bank and payment-rail partners, and subsidy funding); and products that can't show a hard 'you save this much' number. This playbook depends on users being able to do the math themselves.

**How to build it:** If you must stay near remittance, the lighter route is a page or small tool for 'Canada to India new-customer offer comparison'. Before each holiday, list every provider's first-order rate, deadline and payout method, and earn through referral bonuses and affiliate commissions (inference: Wise and Remitly both run referral programs; check the actual payouts yourself). If you're building something else, copy the four-part playbook: a first-order price where the gap is easy to calculate, a deadline tied to a community holiday, native-language creators from that community, and automated DMs triggered by comments.

**How to acquire users:** On Facebook and Instagram, find mid-sized creators in your community (a few thousand to tens of thousands of views). Give them a standard script and a standard keyword, and attach auto-DM to comments. Give each creator their own keyword or referral code so you can see how many first orders each one brings in. Don't count on your own TikTok account; Remitra's own videos only got a few hundred views.

**Deadline:** The next big date for the India market is Diwali in 2027 (late October). Before then, in September, lock in your creator list and offers. For other communities, work backward from their own holidays: Lunar New Year, Eid, the pre-Christmas remittance peak.

**What would prove this wrong:** ① If Remitra stays in the top 20 of the finance free chart through December, well after the subsidy ends (from 11-10 on), then people who came in on first orders are sticking around. That means repeat usage on this rail is better than expected, and there's more room for small rate comparisons and small referral bonuses. ② If it falls back past #50 within two or three weeks and its rating stops climbing, then first orders were one-time, and the subsidy playbook doesn't build retention with this group. ③ If Remitly or Wise starts running the same script with Punjabi creators in Canada, this channel gets expensive fast.

Last point: a new brand in finance, the most trust-sensitive category, reached #1 in 36 days, and what drove it wasn't who it is. It was one sentence, 'Google only shows 67, here it's 85', said by someone from the same community. Find that sentence for your product, then find the person who can say it for you.

## Remitra Pay: Send Money (ios_6798828027) research report

> 2026-11-06 | Channel: iOS (Canada) | Developer Remitra Inc. (Concord, Ontario, founded 2025, 2–10 people, founder & CEO Jatin Dhawan)

### One line

A new Canadian cross-border remittance App (2026-10-01) that only does bank deposits, targeting Indian and Punjabi communities in Canada sending money home to India. It hit #1 on the Canadian Finance Top Free chart by **buying users with a money-losing rate** : first transfers of up to 300 CAD get 1 CAD = ₹75, raised to ₹85 during Diwali (mid-market about ₹66.9), plus Indian/Punjabi creators posting 'comment MONEY for the download link' videos on Facebook/Instagram. It landed right before Diwali (2026-11-08), the peak remittance season.

### 1. Data: how big did it actually get

- Our library (appstore, cc=ca, app_day): from 10-28 to 11-05 it hovered between #29 and #64 on the Finance Top Free chart, then **on 11-06 jumped to #1 Finance Top Free and #4 overall Top Free** , version 1.0.4.

- Rating count (library): 10-28 16 → 11-04 30; **live iTunes lookup (11-06) already shows 59 ratings, average 4.20** , nearly doubling in one day.

- Google Play (googleplay library): com.remitra.remitrapay estimated at 1,369 installs, +382 in the last 7 days. Still small.

- On the same day (11-06), **My Beacon: Send Money to India** also jumped: Finance Top Free 11-05 #55 → 11-06 #5. Two Canada→India remittance Apps surging together means **the Diwali remittance season plus a two-way subsidy price war** is driving it, not just Remitra's product.

- The Canadian finance Top Free chart is not hard to crack (the top 10 spots are mostly big banks like RBC and TD), so a surge of new users can get you to #1 within a few days.

- Reviews (library, 6 total): 5 five-star reviews, all saying 'best rate', '10 minutes to arrive', 'send money home', with very similar wording. A new App's reviews clustering between 10-19 and 11-01 is common, and we haven't verified whether reviews are being solicited. 1 one-star reviews complain about having to re-upload ID documents repeatedly.

### 2. Growth tactics (with evidence)

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| First-transfer subsidy rate (core) | New customers' first transfer of ≤300 CAD gets 1 CAD = ₹75, until 10-31, later extended to 11-08; for Diwali 'Diwali Dhamaka' raised to ₹85, until 11-10. The site says "New customer rate applied 85 INR per CAD on your first 300 CAD". The same day's indicative rate on the site was 66.86 INR. A creator's words: "Google par rate 67–68 chal raha hai". | Yes |
| Indian / Punjabi creator short videos | Punjabi Vlogger (FB, 11-01, title says 33K views); Virat In Toronto (FB, 25K views, auto-DM link on 'Comment MONEY'; IG version is the ₹85 Diwali one); rjsahil (FB, 9K views, 'Comment PAY'); Maninder Singh Mangat @punjabivlogger (IG, ₹85); YouTube Shorts '$1 CAD = ₹85 Diwali Dhamaka' with 33K views; another page 61550111584457 is posting too. Nearly all use the same script plus comment-keyword auto-DMs, clearly paid creator promotion (no #ad disclosure seen; treated as paid collaboration, fee not verified). | Yes |
| Diwali timing | Diwali in 2026 fell on 11-08; subsidy deadlines were set at 11-08 / 11-10; 11-06 climbed to #1. | Yes |
| Owned social media | TikTok @remitrapayofficial has 167 followers and 34 videos, with single videos getting 144–579 views, almost no organic reach; IG @remitrapay; LinkedIn 26 followers. | Yes |
| Referral rewards | The site says 'invite a friend, both get a reward once they complete a transfer', plus holiday-specific rates. | Yes (size unknown) |
| Offline / events | The TikTok bio mentions 'Visit RemitraPay at RED 1561', possibly an expo booth, unverified. | No |
| Meta paid ads | Our metaads library only tracks products on its list and found nothing; can't rule it out. | No |
| X / Reddit / press | x-radar search for "Remitra" returned 0 results; no media coverage or Reddit discussion found. | No |

**The math** : at ₹85 against a mid-market ₹66.9, a 300 CAD first transfer carries about ₹5,400 of subsidy, roughly CA$80 per user; at ₹75 it's about CA$36. Add creator fees and acquisition cost lands at tens of CAD per user. The money comes back from repeat use: remittances are a high-frequency necessity, and anyone who keeps sending money home each month pays back the spread and fees over about a year. This is the old playbook Remitly, Wise and My Beacon have been running, not a new invention.

### 3. Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale (CA Finance Top Free, library 11-06) | How Remitra differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| My Beacon(Beacon) | iOS / Android | 2024 | #5 (previous day #55); Play ~49k installs | Same Canada→India focus, zero fees, UPI instant delivery, positioned as a 'super App for new immigrants' with bill payments; gave new users ₹80 to fight back during Diwali. Remitra has no UPI or wallets, bank deposits only |
| Wise | iOS / Android / web | 2013 | #9 | Mid-market rate plus transparent fees, many currencies and accounts, no subsidy reliance |
| Remitly | iOS / Android | 2013 | #16 | Global giant, also has new-customer rates, many payout options (cash, wallets) |
| Taptap Send | iOS / Android | 2018 | #25 | Focused on Africa / South Asia, payouts to mobile wallets |
| Western Union | iOS / web / offline | Long-established | #42 | Physical locations, cash pickup, bigger spread |
| RemitBee | iOS / Android | 2015 | #38 | Long-established Canadian player into India, also local-focused |
| Xe | iOS / Android | Long-established | #114 | Rate tools plus transfers |
| Boglefx(Shanchie FX) | iOS | 2026 | #168 | Another new small Canadian remittance App, not taking off yet |
| Bank-native wires (RBC / TD / Scotia, etc.) | Big-company features | — | — | High fees, wide spread, but already on users' phones |
| Simplii Global Money Transfer / KOHO, etc. | Big-company / neobank features | — | — | Built-in free transfers, no separate app needed |

### 4. Why it took off

1. **Price subsidy is the most direct hook** : new-user rate ₹75 → ₹85, 12–27% above mid-market. Users do the math and see free money, so the conversion reason is strong (evidence: official new-user rate, multiple creator videos).

2. **Audience and channels are well matched** : Canada's Indian and Punjabi diaspora sends money often and is concentrated on FB / IG. Community creators posting in Hindi / Punjabi with "comment a keyword to get the link" can hit that audience in one pass (evidence: posts from Punjabi Vlogger, Virat In Toronto, rjsahil).

3. **Timing is Diwali** : the run-up to the festival is peak season for India remittances, and the subsidy deadline falls right on Diwali. 11-06 climbed to #1; rival My Beacon hit #5 the same day, which points to seasonal demand plus a price war (evidence: the two apps' rank sequences in the database).

4. **Low bar on the charts** : Canada's Finance Top Free chart is topped by big banks, but a new app pulling in thousands of new users in one day is enough to reach #1 (inference).

5. **The product itself holds up** : reviews mention arrival in 10 minutes and fast support, so the first-order experience delivers on the promise. There are also complaints about bad verification experiences.

### 5. Differentiation

Its public differentiation is "built in Canada, personal data stays in Canada" and "rates, fees and arrival amounts stated upfront." But Wise and RemitBee offer the same, so it's not real differentiation. Its feature set is also thinner than My Beacon (UPI, instant transfers, bill pay) and Remitly (cash pickup, wallets); it's bank transfer only. **It broke out not because of differentiation, but because it had the biggest subsidy, solid creator distribution, and perfect timing with Diwali.** The "local / privacy" angle reads more like a trust-building line for a new brand (TikTok has videos on "check the regulatory license first," and IG posts about FINTRAC).

### 6. Visibility, copycats

- Revenue is not disclosed, no media coverage, nobody discussing it on X, and LinkedIn has only 26 followers: **few people know about it yet** . It only circulates within Canadian Indian diaspora circles on FB / IG.

- Copycats: no true copy so far. My Beacon, in the same category, matched the Diwali price at ₹80. That's a price war, not copying.

- Also, a US medical procurement payments platform (under Premier Inc.) is also named Remitra. Not the same company, but the name collision matters when searching.

### 7. Takeaways

- The combo of "first-order loss-leading rates + community creators in their native language + automatic DMs on comment keywords" can push a small-country category chart to #1 in a short time for high-frequency, must-have remittance.

- Tying the subsidy deadline to an ethnic holiday uses urgency to amplify conversion.

- Uses "local compliance / data stays local" to offset the trust disadvantage of a new brand in finance.

### 8. Still unclear

- Whether it can keep users after the subsidy ends (after 11-10), and whether its rank falls back to #30–60, is unknown. Repeat rate is unknown.

- Whether it runs Meta paid ads, and what creators charge, is unverified.

- The MSB / FINTRAC registration has not been verified against the FINTRAC list. Its funding source and the identity of its payment-rail partner are unknown.

- Whether early reviews were solicited has not been verified.
