16 ratings to the top 30 of Korea's Health & Fitness Top Grossing chart: behind the sleep app Dreami is a fitness company that launches a new app every month

What it is A subscription sleep-tracking app from Korean fitness app company Gymwork: it records snoring and sleep talking overnight, gives a sleep score, offers a smart alarm, white noise, an AI sleep coach, and Apple Watch integration.

Why it took off Its parent company's fitness app sits at the top of the Health & Fitness Top Grossing charts in several Asian stores. The new app carries that user base, bundle, the same paywall, and localized launches. The category Top Grossing bars in these stores are low, so a dozen ratings is enough to reach the top 30.

CHow you could follow Don't copy the sleep app itself. If you already have a main app that's established in several stores, learn from its approach: release new apps in adjacent categories each month, and cross-promote them on-app and through App Bundles.

Grade C: You can learn the release playbook of "main app carries a matrix" and how to chart in low-bar stores, but its ranking depends on a parent company's user base that followers don't have. The sleep category is already packed, and Apple's free built-in sleep score exists, so following on its own isn't worth it. Few people know about it yet

Dreami is a sleep app that records snoring, gives a sleep score, and wakes you with a smart alarm in the morning. It launched in mid-September and within 7 weeks reached the top 110 of the Health & Fitness Top Grossing charts in Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand. Nothing about its features is new. It got there because of the company behind it: Gymwork in Seoul already has a fitness app ranked in the top 12 of Health Top Grossing in six Asian stores. This piece covers how it was pushed up, whether the approach can be copied, and why most people can't copy it.

October 30, #24 on Korea's Health chart

In September 15 of 2026, Gymwork Inc. (주식회사 짐워크) in Seoul released Dreami. In the Korean store its name is a string of search terms: "Dreami: 수면 분석, 알람, 모닝콜, 코골이" (sleep analysis, alarm, wake-up call, snoring), with a subtitle that stacks "워치, 미라클모닝, 수면주기, 백색소음, 명상, 사운드" (watch, miracle morning, sleep cycle, white noise, meditation, sound).

In October 30, it reached #24 on the Korean App Store Health & Fitness Top Grossing chart, and in November 3 #25. In those days it had fewer than 16 ratings in Korea: 28 in October, and only rose to 16 by November 6 1. In November 6, the four stores combined had about 126 ratings: Thailand 57, Japan 27, Taiwan 24, Korea 16 (App Store, 11-06). It never entered an overall chart in any store. The US store could download it, but it had 0 ratings.

That few ratings reaching a category Top Grossing chart means two things: it was taking money from day one, and the bar in these stores' health categories is low. It doesn't mean the app is big. Going by its rank, monthly revenue is roughly several thousand to $10–20K (estimate, unverified).

What it is

You open it before bed, plug the phone into a charger by the bed, and it listens all night: snoring, sleep talk, ambient noise, recorded as short clips you can play back the next morning. Within 30 minutes before you need to wake, the alarm goes off at a light-sleep point; with an Apple Watch it detects wrist movement. In the morning you get a sleep score, with sleep stages read straight from iPhone Health data. There's also white noise and ASMR mixes, breathing guides, and an "AI sleep coach" you can chat with. It also tells you what time to go to bed tonight based on the last 14 days of Watch data.

The pricing is firm: the Korean store page states that sleep measurement and sleep analysis are themselves subscription features. Several price tiers are shown at once (App Store web page, 11-06):

The team behind it: a fitness company that ships one app a month

Gymwork was founded in 2023, with about 10 people. Its founding team came from Hyperconnect, Karrot Market (당근마켓), and Ohouse (오늘의집). It raised a seed round from Mashup Ventures in 2024 August 2025 and was selected for Korea's government TIPS R&D program (per Korean Wikipedia, thevc.kr, and Korean media).

Its main product is the fitness logging app "짐워크 Gymwork," launched in 2021. The store page says "1M users worldwide," and it has used fitness creator 권혁 to write training plans. In November 6 it was on the Health & Fitness Top Grossing charts: #2 in Korea, #3 in Hong Kong, #4 in Taiwan, #5 in Thailand, #6 in Macau, #7 in Vietnam, and #12 in Japan. In Thailand it added 482 ratings in one week (App Store, 11-06).

Starting in 2026, it has released a new app roughly every month: Calog for food logging in January, Pepta for GLP-1 weight loss journaling in June, Condi for stress and recovery and Tokky for AI English speaking in August, Dreami in September, and Flody in October. The developer page also lists alarm and family-location apps, more than a dozen in total. Each follows the same approach: one app bundle with 13 languages, a separate string of search terms as the name for each store, the same paywall, and frequent updates. Dreami shipped 20 versions in 7 weeks.

Where users come from

  • Most likely the parent company's user base (inferred, high confidence). Dreami charts in the same stores as the Gymwork main app: South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Turkey. Gymwork's fastest-growing market, Thailand, is also where Dreami has the most ratings. Gymwork didn't take off in the US, and neither has Dreami, with 0. A new app starting from zero that lands right on the parent's user distribution most likely means Gymwork, Calog, or Condi are cross-promoting it (push notifications, in-app cards). In-app promotion isn't visible from outside, so this can't be confirmed directly.
  • Bundles (confirmed). The developer page lists 5 App Bundles, two of which include Dreami: "수면·식단 관리: 드리미와 칼로그" (Sleep & diet: Dreami + Calog, tagline "잘 먹고 잘 자는 일상의 시작", the start of a day of eating well and sleeping well), and a "Dreami + Condi" sleep and recovery bundle. One bundle price unlocks two apps, which both drives cross-installs and raises the average order value.
  • 商店搜索。 每个区的名字和副标题都塞满本地词:日本叫「睡眠記録・分析・いびき・Watch」,台湾叫「睡眠監測・打呼・白噪音・Watch」。
  • What I couldn't find. On TikTok, searches for "Dreami" and "드리미 수면" return unrelated things with the same name. No one mentions it on X. No reviews or press coverage on the web or Naver. I couldn't check whether it runs paid ads, so that doesn't mean it doesn't.

Who it's competing with

Sleep is one of the most crowded health categories. In the November health & fitness top-grossing charts, Korea has 30 sleep apps charted (6), Japan has 20, and Taiwan and Thailand each have 16–17.

Plenty of new sleep apps have launched in the past 2026 years, but in these stores the only newcomers that have made the health top-grossing charts are Dreami and Condi, both from Gymwork's own portfolio. A solo newcomer can't break into this category. Dreami got in because of its parent.

What's copyable and what isn't

What's copyable is the playbook: a "main app + health portfolio" model. First, establish a main app that holds top-grossing positions in several Asian stores. Then add adjacent categories every month (fitness → diet → recovery → sleep → weight-loss drug diary). Each new app inherits the same user distribution, the same paywall template, and the same localization workflow, and the apps cross-promote through bundles and in-app cards. Two more things transfer: the health top-grossing charts in Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Korea have low entry barriers, far cheaper than fighting Sleep Cycle and ShutEye head-on in the US. And running several price tiers plus a limited win-back offer on the paywall quickly shows how much each store will pay.

What isn't copyable is the most important part: an existing main app that adds hundreds of ratings a week. Remove Gymwork, and Dreami is just another Sleep Cycle copy, dropped into a category with more than 30 competitors.

If it were you

In one line: don't copy this as a sleep-tracking app. The part worth learning is the launch method behind it, "one main app bringing a series of new apps," and that only works if you already have the main app.

Who it's for: small teams that already have a health, fitness, or productivity app that has a stable position in a few stores, gets new users every day, and has a paywall running. For you, Dreami is a ready-made assignment: adjacent categories like sleep, diet, or recovery, one per month, each cross-promoted to your own users.

Who it's not for: solo indie developers starting from zero. The sleep category's features are already saturated, Apple gives away sleep scores itself, and a new sleep app with no cross-promotion source will struggle to reach any store's top-grossing charts.

How to do it: start with the three or four stores where your main app has the most users, and pick the adjacent category with the most overlap with those users. Build features to the "standard for the category" and stop there. Originality isn't required. Use one package for 13 languages, and write a separate set of local search keywords for each store's name and subtitle. Copy the main app's paywall template directly: weekly plans, annual plans with a trial, and a limited discount for users who cancel.

How to get users: the first source is push notifications and in-app cards from the main app. Then build an App Bundle to sell the new app together with the main app. Don't copy its tactics of asking for ratings before users have even used the app, or locking features before the trial ends. The one-star reviews in Taiwan and Thailand are about exactly this, and they will hurt you once the sample grows.

Is there a window? No fixed deadline. This is a method you can keep using, not a window.

Signs that I got this wrong: ① Dreami charts in stores where Gymwork has no users, such as the US or Europe. That would mean it has an acquisition channel beyond the parent company, and this analysis needs redoing. ② By end of January it drops out of the top 150 in Korea's and Taiwan's health top-grossing charts, while the Gymwork main app's rank holds. That would mean cross-promotion can't carry a sleep app without a differentiator, and this portfolio playbook doesn't work in a crowded category like sleep. ③ Someone finds heavy ad spend in Asian stores. Then the chart position came from paid acquisition, not the portfolio.

Dreami: Sleep Tracker & Sounds (ios_6800610624) research report

Research date 2026-11-06. Data comes from our appstore library (app_profile / app_day / chart_rank, 2026-10-28 to 11-06), Apple's lookup API, App Store web pages, Jina web search, TikHub, x-radar, and the metaads/tiktokads libraries. I checked all 115 stores in the appstore library. Dreami charted only in kr / tw / jp / th / hk / mo / tr. It is downloadable in the US store, but has 0 ratings and has never charted.

One line

Dreami is a sleep-tracking app launched on 2026-09-15 by Gymwork Inc. (Seoul, 10 employees, seed-funded), the company behind the Korean fitness app 짐워크 Gymwork. It records snoring and sleep talk, scores sleep, runs a smart alarm, plays white noise, has an AI sleep coach, integrates with Apple Watch, and is subscription-based. It didn't "break out" on its own. The parent company's existing Asian fitness user base, cross-promotion across its app portfolio, and ASO pushed it into the middle of the top-grossing charts. Because these stores have low entry barriers, it charted with only two-digit ratings.

1. Data: how big it really is

  • Ratings by store (appstore library, 2026-11-06): th 57, jp 27, tw 24, kr 16, tr 2, hk/mo 0. About 126 in total. The "total_ratings 126, 7 days +45" in the data card is the sum across these stores. The daily total jumps with the number of stores charting that day (on 10-31 only 3 did), which doesn't mean ratings actually fell.
  • Growth: kr went from 1 to 16 (14 over 7 days, from 10-28 to 11-06), jp from 13 to 27 (+14 in 7 days), tw from 13 to 24 (+10), th from 52 to 57 (+5). Absolute numbers are small: downloads are probably in the tens to low hundreds per day (inferred).
  • Chart positions (Health & Fitness Top Grossing, genre 6013): kr best #24 (10-30), #25 (11-03), 11-06 #47; jp best 67 (11-02), 11-06 #107; tw best 64 (11-03), 11-06 #81; th best 91 (11-05); hk #64 (11-03). Not on the overall chart in any store.
  • Pricing (App Store web page): kr weekly ₩7,700, monthly ₩9,200–14,900, yearly ₩69,000, plus several "[대상자 전용]" (for eligible users only) yearly plans at ₩29,000–39,000; tw weekly NT$150, monthly NT$150/230, yearly NT$1,990 (with free trial) / NT$2,750, plus limited yearly offers at NT$710–1,190. Several price tiers and win-back offers live at once suggests paywall A/B tests and churn-recovery discounts, all carried over from the parent company's other apps.
  • Versions: 7 shipped 20 minor versions in a week (1.0.17, 10-28,1.0.20, 11-04), a very fast release cadence.

2. Who makes it: Gymwork Inc., an app factory

  • Company: 주식회사 짐워크, founded 2023-04 in Seoul. 2024-08 it raised a seed round from Mashup Ventures; 2025-06 it was selected for Korea's SMEs and Startups Ministry TIPS program (up to 500M KRW in R&D funding per year, 2); 2025-04 it joined the "창구" global expansion program run by Google Play and the ministry; it has 2026-08 employees (10). The founding team came from Hyperconnect, 당근마켓 (Karrot) and 오늘의집. [ko.wikipedia "짐워크"; thevc.kr/gymwork; wowtale 2024-11-25; 머니투데이 2025-08-04]
  • The flagship app "짐워크 Gymwork" (launched 2021-08, id 1563624436) is the top app in the Health & Fitness Top Grossing charts: kr #2, hk #3, tw #4, th #5, mo #6, vn #7, jp #12. Ratings: jp 8,331, th 4,548, tw 4,005, kr 3,511. Last 7 days: th +482, jp +346, vn +288, tw +270 (appstore library 11-06). The store description claims "1M users worldwide" (App Store kr page).
  • Since 2026 it has launched a new app roughly every month: Calog food/calorie tracker (2026-01, kr Health Top Grossing #7), Pepta GLP-1 diary (2026-06, Brazil), Condi stress/HRV/recovery (2026-08, tw #34), Tokky AI English speaking (2026-08), Dreami sleep (2026-09), Flody (2026-10), and Gymwork Connect (2026-11, bookings). The developer page also lists 알람킹 (alarm clock) and 어디야 (family location). The data card says "5 apps by this developer," which undercounts; the real number is 11+. App Store kr developer page id 1498721516
  • App bundles: the developer page lists 5 bundles: "수면·식단 관리: 드리미와 칼로그", "수면·회복 관리: 드리미와 컨디", "운동·식단·회복 올인원 건강 관리 팩", "운동과 회복", "운동&식단 올인원 패키지". 2 of them include Dreami directly.

3. Competitors: this track is already crowded

Looking only at the Health & Fitness Top Grossing charts across 11-06, sleep apps show up in KR with 30 or more, in JP with 20, and in TW and TH with 16–18 each. The main ones:

Bottom line: Dreami has nothing original in its features. Recording, scoring, smart alarms, white noise and Watch integration are all offered by every app above. An "AI sleep coach" chat has been standard since 2026.

4. Where the users come from (evidence)

  1. Parent company's user base and cross-promotion (strong evidence, mechanism inferred): the regions where Dreami charts (kr / tw / th / jp / hk / mo / tr) match the main markets of Gymwork's main app exactly. The US store, where Gymwork itself doesn't chart, also has Dreami at only 0 ratings. Th is Gymwork's fastest-growing store (+482 in 7 days) and also Dreami's most-rated store (57). A new app starting from zero landed right on the parent company's user distribution. The most likely explanation is in-app cross-promotion across Gymwork, Calog and Condi (promo cards, push notifications, bundles). We can't see in-app promotion directly, so this can't be confirmed.
  2. App bundles (confirmed): the App Store lists 2 bundles that include Dreami. A bundle price unlocks two or three apps at once. That is cross-promotion and also lifts average order value.
  3. ASO keyword stuffing (confirmed): every store's name and subtitle is packed with local search terms. kr: "수면 분석, 알람, 모닝콜, 코골이", subtitle "워치, 미라클모닝, 수면주기, 백색소음, 명상, 사운드"; jp: "睡眠記録・分析・いびき・Watch"; tw: "睡眠監測・打呼・白噪音・Watch". The same package is used for 13 languages.
  4. Paid acquisition: nothing found. The metaads library has no advertiser entries for Gymwork or Dreami (it only tracks advertisers that appeared in keyword top results, so ads run in kr/tw/th are not visible). The tiktokads library has no mapping (it only covers Europe). Apple Search Ads can't be checked. Can't rule it out, but there is no evidence.
  5. Creators/influencers: none found. TikTok searches for "Dreami", "드리미 수면" and "Dreami 睡眠" return unrelated items with the same name. x-radar returns nothing. There are no reviews or press pieces on Dreami on the web or Naver. The parent company has previously hired fitness YouTubers (권혁TV, 왓섭쿠 etc., per Wikipedia), but no similar partnership for Dreami was found.

5. Why it charts

  • The parent company already has a profitable Asian health user base: Gymwork is in the top 12 of Health & Fitness Top Grossing in 6 stores. Dreami had an existing audience to draw from as soon as it launched, with no need to buy traffic from scratch.
  • Low-threshold stores + subscription pricing: in kr, tw and th, the Health & Fitness Top Grossing threshold for ranks 50–100 is low, so a few dozen to a few hundred paying users can get you there. At prices like ₩7,700 weekly and ₩69,000 yearly, a small number of payers can hold a high rank. Note: this shows that money starts coming in quickly, not that the scale is big.
  • A mature paywall playbook: limited win-back prices, trial yearly plans and weekly plans running side by side is the standard optimization approach for subscription apps. A factory can copy the template and reuse it.
  • Localization + 7 weeks, 20 versions: one bundle in 13 languages, with a separate name and subtitle for each store.

6. Differentiation

  • The product itself has little differentiation. If you push for it, there are three points: (a) it's bundled with the same company's fitness, diet and recovery apps as a "whole-family health" suite; (b) it localizes more finely than overseas competitors in Korea, Taiwan and Japan (subtitles, traditional Chinese, Japanese); (c) it added an AI sleep coach and "tonight's recommended sleep" (reads the last 14 days of Apple Watch data).
  • What gets it onto the charts isn't these feature differences. It's distribution: the parent company's user base, cross-promotion and bundles. A team without a parent app like Gymwork building the same thing would most likely not make the charts.

7. Visibility and copycats

  • Few people know about it yet: no press coverage, no public revenue figures, no discussion on X or TikTok. Korean media coverage is about Gymwork's fitness business.
  • Copycats: no one is clearly copying Dreami, since it is itself a follower. Many new sleep apps launched in 2026 (SleepSense, Tock, Somnr, SnoreLog and others, plus a batch of snore-recording apps by Chinese indie developers charting in the cn paid chart). But among new sleep apps charting in the Health & Fitness Top Grossing in kr/tw/jp/th at the same time, only Dreami and Condi from Gymwork's own stable appear.

8. What to borrow

  • "Lead app + health portfolio" playbook: first establish a main app that holds Top Grossing in several Asian stores, then add categories next to it each month (diet → recovery → sleep → GLP-1). Each new app inherits the same user distribution, paywall template and localization workflow, then cross-promotes through app bundles and in-app cards.
  • Target low-barrier stores (tw / th / hk / mo / kr health categories) for category Top Grossing charts. That is far cheaper than fighting Sleep Cycle and ShutEye head-on in the US.
  • Run several price tiers and limited win-back offers on the paywall at once to quickly map price sensitivity in each store.

9. Uncertain

  • How large the in-app cross-promotion is and how it's displayed: no direct evidence, only two indirect signals (the highly overlapping regional distribution and the bundles).
  • Whether it runs Apple Search Ads, Meta or TikTok ads in Asia: our libraries don't cover this, and nothing was found.
  • Revenue: estimated from category Top Grossing ranks, likely a few thousand to ten-odd thousand US dollars a month (unverified).
  • Android: Gymwork has a developer page on Google Play. Whether Dreami has an Android version was not checked, and it isn't in the googleplay library.
  • Ratings 4.7–4.9, but the sample is too small, and review text wasn't collected (not in the library), so we can't tell whether ratings are being solicited.
