A "nightlife community" app sells 99.99 dollars' worth of coins: Bello hit the Jordan charts without nightlife
What it is An English-language "nightlife and events community" app with 18+ installs, actually making money by selling coins for paid private chats and matchmaking.
Why it took off It bought installs in cheap small markets like Jordan, Vietnam and Egypt, put the shell in the less competitive Lifestyle category, and pushed conversion with invite codes and fake five-star reviews. Small-country charts have low thresholds, so a handful of paying users is enough to chart.
CHow you could follow Don't copy the shell. Teams that already have a social product and a paid acquisition team can use the small-country Top Grossing charts as a cheap test of willingness to pay in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and compete head-on in the Social category with paid private chat and matching.

Bello launched in Sep 4, with a store page that promises finding nightclubs, organizing outings, and seeing who else is going. In two months it charted in 44 countries, reaching #9 in Jordan's Lifestyle Top Grossing, sandwiched between Tinder, Bumble and Muzz. Its in-app purchases come down to one thing, coins, priced from $0.99 up to $99.99. Below: what it actually sells, where its users come from, how many more Bellos there were the same summer, and whether you should follow it.
Three reviews from Oct 17
On Oct 17, 2026, a Turkish user gave Bello a 1-star review. The title and body were the same sentence: "Boş bir uygulama, herşey ücretli, zaman kaybı," meaning "Empty app, everything is paid, waste of time." The day before, another Turkish user left a 1-star review with a single word: "Dolandırıcılık" (scam).
The same day, a 5-star review on the US store had a title and body that were just a string of code: inviter::{9RYW8B}. Someone pasted the invite code from inside the app straight into the review box.
A few days later it was Vietnam. From Oct 15 to 21, the Vietnamese store got one review after another with 5 stars, saying "Hay" (good), "Tốt" (nice), "rất ok" (very ok), "8/10". One of them gave 5 stars but its title read "Không hài lòng" (dissatisfied).
Put these three things together and you can see roughly how Bello got going: people were paying, people were being recruited, and people were leaving fake good reviews.
What it says it is vs. what it actually sells
On the store page, Bello is a "nightlife and events community": find nightclubs and rooftop parties by date and venue, save them to your "tonight plan", create a "Night Room" with an invite code to arrange plans in a group with friends, and send one-on-one messages. 18+ installs, English only, developer BOLTRIX TECHNOLOGY LTD, which has only this one app. The website boltrix.work is a templated "IT services company" page that doesn't mention Bello and gives no address.
Several things don't match this story:
- In-app purchases are coins only, in 9 tiers: 0.99, 1.99, 2.99, 3.99, 5.99, 9.99, 19.99, 49.99, 99.99 dollars (US store page, 11-06). An events-finder app has no need to sell hundred-dollar coin packs. Per-message or per-minute charges for private chat and video calls do.
- No real event data. Its strongest countries are Jordan, Vietnam, Egypt and Pakistan, and the store page shows no venue partnerships anywhere.
- "Customers also bought" lists Mitu: Video Chat, Dico - Fate Connection & Chat, Chatme, Relike Dating App, and several "XX interest community" apps. People who download Bello also download video chat and dating apps.
- The bad reviews are about money. A user in Brazil wrote "Aplicativo roubo seu dinheiro … ladrões" (app steals your money … thieves); several reviews in Vietnam and Egypt use sexually suggestive slang.
So what it most likely earns is paid private chat and matchmaking money, with "nightlife" as a shell (inference; the app was not installed and tested. From the outside you cannot tell whether the other side is real hosts 1v1, users charging each other for messages, or AI companions).
Which countries it took off in, and how big
| Metric | Metric | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Global rating count | About 1,021 (Vietnam 272, Brazil 116, US store 95, Turkey 75, Thailand 72, Egypt 69) | App Store,11-06 |
| US ratings | 4.61 ratings | App Store,11-06 |
| Countries where it charted | 10-28 to 11-06, 58 stores in total, 11-06 on the same day across 44 stores | App Store charts |
| Best rank | Jordan Lifestyle Top Grossing #9, Mauritius #11, Vietnam #20, Egypt #21, Kuwait and Qatar #23 | App Store,11-06 |
| Top Free | 10-27 Jordan Lifestyle Top Free #1 | icharts |
| New ratings per day | From 10-28 on, 0–12 reviews a day | App Store |
Two points to keep in mind:
#9 in Jordan doesn't mean it's making much. It has only 1 ratings in Jordan. The Lifestyle Top Grossing bar in small countries is very low; a few users willing to top up can land it in the top ten. That rank says "cheap", not "big".
It's already winding down. Reviews cluster almost entirely in the week of Oct 13 to 21, and new ratings since late October are down to single digits per day. It looks like a push concentrated from late September to mid-October, now tapering off, not a product that grows on its own.
Where users come from
Paid acquisition, aimed at cheap small markets (inference, high confidence). Its privacy label lists "Identifiers" used for cross-app tracking, which ad attribution requires. A purely English nightlife app charting near the top of Jordan's and Bahrain's free Lifestyle charts, and collecting dozens to hundreds of ratings in Vietnam and Egypt, while no one in those places searches for it: TikTok search for "Bello nightlife app" returns no videos, nobody mentions it on X, and no media has covered it. Whether the spend went to Meta, TikTok or another ad network, and how much, is unknown.
Invite codes and incentivized reviews (evidence-backed). The inviter::{9RYW8B} review above shows the app has an invite reward; the one- or two-word five-star reviews from Vietnam, Brazil, the Philippines and India clustered in the same week, which pulled the US store to 4.6 stars and improves store-page conversion.
Category arbitrage. Rather than Social Networking or Dating, it sits in Lifestyle. That avoids head-on competition with Tinder and friends in dating, and lets it pass review under the "events community" framing; small-country Lifestyle charts also have little competition, so it's easy to climb.
Many more Bellos the same summer
Look at the charts and it's not alone. Between 2026 and 7 in September, a batch of near-identical "interest community" apps showed up on the App Store:
| App | Shell | Launched | Scale (11-06) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ceno: Stargazing Community | Stargazing | 08-19 | Charted in 87 stores, best Lifestyle #3, Jordan Top Grossing #7 (just ahead of Bello) |
| Renna | "Living" → livestreaming | 08-27 | 86 stores, best #3 |
| Lento: DIY Bracelet Studio | Bracelet DIY | 07-13 | 81 stores, best #4 |
| Berk: Ski Tracker & Community | Skiing | 08-28 | 101 stores, best Top Grossing #2 |
| Candra - Hobby & Skill Social | Hobby skills | 08-30 | 58 stores, best #8, subtitle literally says "Live" |
| Olen-Paddling / Nook: Trail & Hike | Rowing / hiking | 07–09 | 54–91 stores |
They share a lot: all in the Lifestyle category, all English only; developers are newly registered "XXX TECHNOLOGY LTD" entities, Indonesian PT companies or individual accounts; all on the Lifestyle Top Grossing charts in the Middle East and Southeast Asia; all monetized with coins; and all appear in each other's "Customers also bought". The most blatant is Renna, which launched as "Renna-Living" and later renamed itself "Renna-Live Stream&Connect": pass review with a harmless name first, then reveal the livestreaming.
This playbook has been written up in China before. A Juejin article from December 2025, "1V1 social precision harvest 360M!40 shell apps", describes one 1v1 social backend reskinned into dozens of apps and shipped overseas after domestic regulation tightened. Whether this batch is the same group has not been established: no shared SDKs or support emails turned up. But the approach is clearly the same.
Bello is one of the narrower spreads in this batch (44 stores, the others 80–100), yet it has the most ratings.
Why it works
- The demand is real. People in the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia will pay to chat with strangers. Dating apps filling the top ten of Jordan's Lifestyle Top Grossing is itself evidence.
- The math works. Paid acquisition is cheap in these markets, coin packs top out at $99.99, and a few users willing to spend more is enough to pay back the spend.
- The shell gets past review, the category drives rankings. "Nightlife community" gets it into Lifestyle, the small-country Lifestyle charts let a few paying users chart it, and the 4.6 fake stars then lift conversion.
- The portfolio manages the risk. If one shell gets pulled, six or seven more shells on the same backend are still running.
If it were you
One-line verdict: there's something to learn, but don't follow it. What's valuable is the 1v1 paid social backend, the host or content supply, and a scaled paid acquisition team. None of that can be copied off a store page, and this route is already being mass-reskinned by others while sitting on Apple's review line.
Who it suits: teams that already run a social or livestream product, have paying users and an acquisition team, and want new markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The small-country Top Grossing charts can serve as a cheap testing tool: in Jordan, Kuwait and Mauritius, a couple of paying users can reach the top 30, and a few hundred dollars shows whether a market will pay to chat.
Who it doesn't suit: indie developers starting from zero. You have no host supply, no budget to sustain a paid campaign, and you'd be competing for the same users with teams running dozens of shells.
How to do it: if you do it, do the straight version. List a social app in the Social Networking category with English (plus Arabic), put paywalls on "private chat, priority matching, gifts", and don't rely on a shell to pass review. Copying the shell playbook runs into Apple's App Review Guidelines 2.3.1 (hidden features) and 1.2 (rules on user-generated content and random chat, which Apple spelled out in its guideline update in February 2026), and this batch could be pulled wholesale at any time.
How to acquire users: as Bello did, buy installs in low-CPI markets, test conversion in countries like Jordan, Egypt, Vietnam and Pakistan, then scale. This game runs on ads, not content or word of mouth: Bello left no trace on TikTok or X and still charted in 44 countries.
Window: there's no fixed window. These shells launched in a concentrated wave from 7 to September and began tapering off by mid-October; the window closes whenever Apple decides to do a sweep.
What would mean we got it wrong: (1) someone installs the app and finds real event data and group-planning features that are substantive, with payments just a side function, which would make it a real product and the verdict would need redoing; (2) this batch is still on the Lifestyle Top Grossing charts next year without being pulled, suggesting Apple is more lenient with this kind of app than assumed and the window is longer than stated here; (3) conversely, if Ceno and Renna gradually disappear from the store, that means even the value of "studying it" is now only the lesson.

Why Bello: Nightlife & Friends (iOS id6801092560) got traction
Research date 2026-11-06. Data: our appstore DB (from 2026-10-28), Apple lookup / store pages / review RSS, Jina web search, TikHub, x-radar. We did not install the app; in-app features are inferred.
Bottom line
Bello didn't take off on 'nightlife event discovery.' It's a clone app listed as a 'nightlife community' but actually earning from selling coins (0.99–99.99 USD across 9 tiers) for paid private chat / social. It runs the same playbook as the 'XX hobby community' shell apps (Ceno stargazing, Renna, Lento bead bracelets, Nook hiking, Berk skiing, Olen paddling, Candra and more): a British Virgin Islands shell company lists under Lifestyle, buys installs in cheap markets across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Latin America, then drives reviews. It ranked #9 Top Grossing Lifestyle in Jordan, between Tinder, Bumble and Muzz (appstore DB, jo, 2026-11-06), which means the money it makes is from dating / paid chat.
1. Basics
- Developer BOLTRIX TECHNOLOGY LTD (developer_id 6801092562) has only this one app. Its site boltrix.work is a generic-template 'IT services company' page ('Founded in 2025… cloud, cybersecurity'), never mentions Bello, and gives no address (Jina read of boltrix.work). Bundle com.app.bello.ios, live since 2026-09-04, English only (appstore DB
apptable). - Current version 1.1.0 (2026-09-30), 35.9MB, 17+/18+, tagged 'Social Media (Age Restricted)'. The in-app purchases listed on the store are all 'buy coins': $0.99 / 1.99 / 2.99 / 3.99 / 5.99 / 9.99 / 19.99 / 49.99 / 99.99 (Apple US store page, Jina read). An 'event discovery' app selling coins at up to $99.99 is itself a sign it earns from per-message and per-minute chat fees.
- Privacy label: the data used for cross-app tracking is 'Identifiers' (IDFA). This is what paid-acquisition attribution requires (store page).
- 'Customers also bought' (US store page): Candra ('Connect & Learn with Pros Live'), Ceno stargazing community, Berk skiing community, Mitu: Video Chat, Davo, Dico - Fate Connection & Chat, Savos, Chatme, Olen-Paddling, Relike Dating App. People who download it also download video-chat and dating apps.
2. Data: where it is and how big
- Total ratings across stores are about 1,021 (2026-11-06, counting only stores charting that day): Vietnam 272, Brazil 116, Philippines 79, Turkey 75, Thailand 72, Egypt 69, India 59, France 46, Malaysia 40, Colombia 38, Saudi Arabia 38. US store 95 ratings, average 4.61 (appstore DB
app_profile/app_snapshot; Apple lookup). - The total ratings figure on the data card jumps between 828 and 1021. The cause is our own counting method:
app_dayonly sums stores charting that day, and the number of charting stores changes each day between 39 and 44, so the total jumps with it. Apple did not remove ratings. - Growth has leveled off: since 2026-10-28 every store adds 0–12 ratings a day (appstore DB
app_day). The review RSS sample clusters between 2026-10-13 and 10-21 (Vietnam, Brazil, Philippines and India all got five-stars in the same week) and is nearly empty after. So installs and review pushes were mostly from late September to mid October, and they are now tapering. - Charts: in our DB, over 10 days (10-28 to 11-06) it charted 449 times across 58 stores. Its best placements are Lifestyle Top Grossing: #9 in Jordan (#182 overall Top Grossing), #11 in Mauritius, #20 in Vietnam, #21 in Egypt, #23 in Kuwait and Qatar, #26 in Pakistan, and #33 in Turkey and Thailand (appstore DB, 2026-11-06). Its best Top Free placements are Lifestyle #50 in Belize and #73 in Mauritius (appstore DB).
- Outside evidence: icharts shows 2026-10-27 it was #1 Lifestyle Top Free in Jordan; on Appfigures it ranked above Tinder on the Bahrain Lifestyle Top Free chart; Similarweb 10-17 recorded #18 Lifestyle in Egypt and Jordan; Storelift had it at #30 (-23) on the Philippines Lifestyle Top Free chart (Jina search snippets). The data card also notes Appfigures ranked it #6 Lifestyle Top Free in Iraq (our DB has no Iraq store; unverified).
- In Jordan the bar for a Top Grossing #9 is very low: it has only 1 ratings there. So that ranking shows that a small market with few paying users can chart, not that the revenue is large.
3. Competitors
3a. What it appears to do: nightlife / event discovery + group meetups
| Name | Platform | Launched | Scale | How Bello differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Partiful | iOS / web | 2020 | Main US tool for young people organizing group hangouts (Google 2024 App of the Year, publicly reported) | Real invites and event links, free; Bello has no real event data source |
| Fever / DICE / Resident Advisor / Eventbrite | iOS / Android / web | 2010 era | Large ticketing platforms | Earn from ticket sales and have real venues; Bello doesn't sell tickets, it sells coins |
| Timeleft, Meetup, Bumble BFF | iOS / Android | 2010–2023 | In-person social and interest meetups | In-person meetups are real; Bello's offline side is just packaging |
None of these run in the countries where Bello gets traction (Jordan, Vietnam, Egypt, Pakistan). Bello doesn't really compete with them head-on.
3b. What it actually does: paid private chat / 1v1 video social, dressed up as a 'hobby community'
| Name | Developer | Launched | Scale (appstore library, 2026-11-06) | How Bello differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ceno: Stargazing Community | ceno | 2026-08-19 | Top ranks in 87 store, best Lifestyle #3 (Top Grossing best #5), rating 408 | Swapped to a stargazing skin; #7 Top Grossing in Jordan, just ahead of Bello |
| Renna (first called Renna-Living, later renamed Renna-Live Stream&Connect) | CELESTIA TECHNOLOGY LTD | 2026-08-27 | 86 store, best #3, rating 120 | After approval the name spells out 'Live Stream' |
| Lento: DIY Bracelet Studio | HELIX INNOVATIONS TECHNOLOGY LTD | 2026-07-13 | 81 store, best #4, rating 207 | 'Bead DIY' skin; company naming follows the same pattern |
| Berk: Ski Tracker & Community | Berk SANDI | 2026-08-28 | 101 store, Top Grossing best #2, rating 402 | 'Skiing' skin, individual developer account |
| Olen-Paddling | PT PLATFORM USAHA PINTAR (Indonesia) | 2026-09-30 | 91 store, best #14 | 'Paddling' skin |
| Candra - Hobby & Skill Social | PT SAGE LINK TECH (Indonesia) | 2026-08-30 | 58 store, best #8, rating 547 | Subtitle openly says 'Live' |
| Nook: Trail & Hike Community | LOGICORE TECHNOLOGY LTD | 2026-07-14 | 54 store, best #30 | 'Hiking' skin; company naming follows the same pattern |
| Mitu / Dico / Chatme | Different entities | 2021–2025 | 69–77 stores, best #3–6 | Older ones that openly do video chat and matchmaking |
| Tinder, Bumble, Muzz, AlKhattaba, Soudfa | Big tech / local | 2012–2015 | Jordan Lifestyle Top Grossing 1–11 | Legit dating apps, with far bigger brands and traffic |
So the real "peers" are a batch of "interest community" shell apps that were all listed in a concentrated window from 2026 7 through September. What they share: all sit in the Lifestyle category; all are English-only; developers are newly registered companies with names like "XXX TECHNOLOGY LTD" (UK-style), Indonesian PT companies, or individual accounts; all chart in the lifestyle Top Grossing lists in the Middle East and Southeast Asia; all make money through in-app coin purchases. Bello is one of the narrower ones in this group: 44 stores, while the others run across 80–100 stores. But it has the most ratings (1,021).
4. Growth tactics (where users come from)
- Paid acquisition in cheap small markets (strong inference, no ad creatives directly obtained): the privacy label includes Identifiers used for cross-app tracking; a purely English "nightlife" app climbed into the top few of the Lifestyle Top Free charts in Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq, and picked up dozens to hundreds of ratings in Vietnam, Egypt and Pakistan, where it has no organic search demand; TikTok search for "Bello nightlife app" returns 0 videos (TikHub); X corpus doesn't mention it (x-radar); no media outlet or review site has written about it. It is not on the tracked list of the Meta / TikTok ad libraries (Boltrix can't be found in the adwatch watchlist), so we can't confirm which platform it ran ads on.
- Incentivized reviews / invite-code rewards (evidence): reviews cluster in the week of 10-13 to 10-21, and consist of one- or two-word five-star reviews like "Hay", "Tốt", "OK", "Nota 10", "Good"; one US-store review has both title and body reading
inviter::{9RYW8B}, suggesting the app has an invite-code mechanism and users pasted their codes into reviews, possibly to claim rewards (Apple review RSS, us/vn/br/ph/in). - Category arbitrage: placed in Lifestyle, not Social Networking / Dating. This avoids competing with the big dating players and lets it pass review under the "activity community" framing; and Lifestyle Top Grossing charts in small countries have a low entry bar: in Jordan, just 1 ratings was enough to rank #9.
- Shell-app portfolio: the same codebase is reskinned with different themes (stargazing, bracelets, hiking, skiing, paddling, nightlife), each registered under its own company. If one gets pulled, the others stay up, and each can be tested separately in different markets. Renna was renamed from "Renna-Living" to "Renna-Live Stream&Connect" (old and new names appear on the developer pages for the Japan store and Bolivia store in Jina search results), which is direct evidence of the "pass review with a harmless shell first, then reveal live streaming / chat" approach.
Where the money comes from: selling coins (top tier around $99.99). Negative reviews are blunt: a Turkish one reads "Boş bir uygulama herşey ücretli zaman kaybı" (empty app, everything is paid, a waste of time), another "Dolandırıcılık" (fraud); a Brazilian one reads "Aplicativo roubo seu dinheiro … ladrões" (the app steals your money, thieves); Vietnamese "Nứng" and Egyptian "نيك" "فاجر" are sexually suggestive slang (Apple review RSS). This matches a monetization model of "1v1 video / paid private chat": coins deducted per call or per minute, with break-even relying on a small number of users who top up heavily. A Juejin article, "1V1 Social Precision Harvesting 360M! 40 Shell Apps Pack" (2025-12), describes the monetization mechanics of similar shell-app packs in China and how these products are being pushed overseas as domestic regulation tightens (https://juejin.cn/post/7585013463859298354). Exactly what kind of monetization Bello uses (live hosts vs. user-to-user private messages) is unverified, since I did not install the app.
5. Why it took off
- The demand for paid social apps across the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia is real, and the entry bar for Lifestyle Top Grossing charts in these markets is low. In Jordan's lifestyle Top Grossing, the apps around #9 are almost all dating apps (appstore library, jo chart).
- In markets with low CPI, in-app coin purchases mean a small number of heavy spenders can make paid acquisition pay back; IDFA tracking supports the ad buys.
- Get approved by dressing it up as a harmless "nightlife community" and filing it under the low-competition Lifestyle category; then push the 4.6-star rating up with fake reviews and invite codes to lift conversions.
- It doesn't rely on product word of mouth: there are no TikTok, X or media traces, and rating growth dropped to single digits after mid-October. This looks more like a wave of spend than a product that sustains itself.
6. Differentiation
Compared with real nightlife / event apps, it has no differentiation, because it isn't really in that category. Compared with the other shells in the same batch, its only differences are the theme of the shell (nightlife, Night Room group hangouts, 18+) and that it runs in fewer countries with more ratings. The shell is why it could pass review and get into Lifestyle, not why users came; users came because of the ads and the demand for coin-based chat.
7. Visibility and copycats
- Visibility: very few people know about it. Online, the only things about it are the store page and chart aggregator sites (Sensor Tower, Appfigures, Similarweb, icharts, Storelift); no public revenue, no media coverage, no X discussion; the "Bello invite code gives diamonds" posts online refer to the Malaysian points app bello2u.com, not this one.
- Copycats: this playbook is already being run by a whole group of people. Ceno, Renna, Lento, Berk, Olen, Candra and Nook launched in the same window (2026-07 to 09), and it's impossible to tell who was first; if there is copying, it's the same playbook being mass-produced.
8. What others can borrow
- Small-country category Top Grossing charts are a cheap market-testing tool: in Jordan, Kuwait and Mauritius, a single rating was enough to reach the top 30 of the grossing chart, which makes it a cheap way to test willingness to pay.
- The "interest community" shell plus in-app coin purchases is a monetization structure that works, but it walks a line with Apple's 2.3.1 (hidden features) and 1.2 (random / anonymous chat must follow UGC rules, which Apple spelled out explicitly when it updated its review guidelines 2026-02), so takedown risk is high and copying it is not recommended.
- The legitimate approach to borrow from: build English social products for MENA and Southeast Asia, and put the monetization on "private chat / priority matching."
9. Uncertain
- What the app actually is inside: live hosts doing 1v1 video, paid user messages, or AI companion chat. Not verified, since I did not install the app.
- Channels used for ads (Meta / TikTok / Google / small ad networks) and how much was spent: our ad libraries don't track it.
- Whether this batch of shells is run by the same group: the company naming, launch timing, categories and markets look alike, and the "customers also bought" links connect them, but we found no hard evidence such as a shared SDK, privacy-policy domain or support email.
- Revenue: Apple doesn't publish it; the bar for Jordan's #9 Top Grossing spot is low, so absolute revenue cannot be inferred.
