An app factory making hundreds of millions a year launched a "small talk coach" app: Noticed didn't take off, but it shows how long the window for indie developers is
What it is A subscription app that teaches small talk and more charismatic speaking: watch real-person situational videos to answer questions, speak to your phone for feedback, $9.99 a month.
Why it got traction It hasn't really taken off: through keyword-stuffed titles, self-run in-app events, and asking for a good rating on every version, it squeezed into the ~#200 range of the US education free chart. The one that really took off was Gleam, which Noticed followed, driven by ten-minute story videos on TikTok.
CHow you could follow Don't copy Noticed; small teams good at short video could do the Gleam route in another language and local social scenarios, acquire users with story videos, and move before big players spread to all languages.

Turkish app factory Codeway put Noticed on the shelf in Oct 22, a subscription app that teaches small talk and more charismatic speaking. It copies a category that an independent team publicly shared revenue for half a year earlier. Two weeks later, Noticed has only 25 ratings and its chart rank is slipping. This piece explains what it is, why it appeared on the chart, who actually made money in this category, and whether you should get in.
Two weeks, 25 ratings, and a fixed-template update note
On the morning of Nov 6, Noticed shipped version 1.0.4. It's the fourth version in 15 days since launch, and the release notes match the earlier ones word for word: "This version fixes bugs and improves performance… Leave a review on the App Store." That same day it gained 10 ratings, reaching 25 total with an average of 4.5 (public Apple API, 11-06). The day before it added only 3, and the day before that 1.
Yet its rank is falling. On the US App Store education free chart, it was #127 on Nov 2 and #202 on Nov 6. The Android version launched on Oct 19, reached 2,342 installs by Nov 6, and ranked #197 on the Google Play US education free chart.
Rank is falling, but ratings bunched up on the two days a new version shipped. This looks more like a "rate us" prompt in the new version, or a small paid test starting (inference). It doesn't look like users found it on their own.
What it is
A "communication skills training" app. The title is "Noticed: Communication Skills", subtitle "Small Talk & Speech Coach". It has three things:
- A course path: reading, video lessons, flashcards, quizzes;
- "Small talk games": watch a real-person video of a conversation, then answer "what should you say here?";
- "Voice analysis": speak a passage into your phone, and it tells you whether you spoke clearly and naturally.
Monetization is the Noticed Pro subscription, $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year. The store description repeats communication skills, small talk, charismatic, leadership skills. It's a classic keyword-stuffing move for search ranking.
Who's behind it
The App Store seller is listed as "DEEP FLOW SOFTWARE SERVICES - FZCO", a Dubai company that looks new. But the same app on Google Play has package name com.codeway.softskill, with the developer listed as Codeway Technologies. Codeway's older products Cleanup and Learna also name this same Dubai company in their privacy policies (cleanup.photos privacy policy).
Codeway is headquartered in Istanbul. Its LinkedIn claims 400+ people, 60+ apps, and 600M cumulative downloads. The growth blog The Growth Hacking Lab estimates its annual revenue at $1 to $150M, and Meta has published an ad case study on it. Under the same developer account, the cleaning tool Cleanup ranks #41 on the US overall top-grossing chart, and the English-learning app Learna ranks #84 (11-06). Since June it has launched roughly one new app a month: June finance, August GLP-1 weight-loss log, Oct 5 translation, Oct 22 Noticed, Oct 23 scanner.
So Noticed isn't a small team's debut. It's a test run from a large factory's assembly line. Learna's formula of "video courses + exercises + voice feedback + subscription" with a different topic is exactly Noticed.
Why it made the chart
It comes from the factory's standard launch playbook, not from user word of mouth:
| Action | Evidence you can see |
|---|---|
| Keyword title | Title plus subtitle covers communication skills, small talk and speech coach |
| In-app events | The store page carries two event cards: "PREMIERE: Noticed: Speak Confidently" and "SPECIAL EVENT: Career Development Month" (App Store page, 11-06) |
| Frequent releases to collect good reviews | 15 days, 4 versions shipped, and each update note is asking for a rating |
| Both platforms in sync | The Android version went live 3 days before iOS |
The "PREMIERE" tag makes it look like an Apple editorial pick, but it isn't. It's the label for an In-App Event, which developers can apply for themselves in the dashboard. The upside is that events can be indexed by store search and may show up in search results and featured spots. Running two events at launch, one for the debut and one riding "Career Development Month," is a trick anyone can use.
It didn't rely on social media. Searching "noticed app" or "small talk app" on TikTok turns up nothing about it, and nobody on X has mentioned it in the past 90 days (11-06). Codeway's usual playbook is to run Facebook ads from a same-named Page for each app. For example, the scanner app it launched in Oct 23 had 79 ads running by Nov 3. Noticed's Page hasn't turned up, so either it hasn't started advertising or the ads haven't been seen (unverified).
In a category with a low barrier to entry like education, these moves alone can get an app into the top couple hundred of the Top Free chart. Breaking out is still a long way off.
Who validated this category: an indie app that grew from ten-minute story videos
Codeway zeroed in on this category because someone had already made money from it.
On Jun 12, 2025, an indie dev named Charles posted a TikTok: "Grinded for three months, and it's finally live." The app is Gleam: Social Intelligence, pitched as a "social skills gym" that trains chatting, dating and interviews through real-life scenarios. By Nov 6, it had 12,081 ratings in the US store, 116 new ones in the last 7 days, and ranked #147 in the Education free chart.
Its growth came from long TikTok videos. A case study by Social Growth Engineers from Apr 9 says Gleam's downloads rose from 30k to 30k in 70 days, monthly subscription revenue passed $100k, "driven by ten-minute storytime videos." This format is still running: a fictional story from Sep 13 (about a socially anxious guy slowly learning to talk to people), nearly 10 minutes long and tagged #gleampartner, got 520k views on TikTok. The founder later said in a YouTube interview that it hit $140k in a single month with 400k users.
Lining up the timeline: Gleam launched in June 2025, its revenue was publicly broken down in April 2026, and in October a large studio moved in. About 6 months passed between the case study going public and a big studio following.
Who it's competing with
Filtering the US App Store by names containing small talk, communication skill, charisma, social skill, speaking coach or rizz turns up more than 200 apps, most of them new this year. Here are the ones with real volume:
| Product | Scale (US, 11-06) | Compared with Noticed |
|---|---|---|
| Gleam: Social Intelligence | 12,081 ratings, #147 in Education Top Free; the founder claims $10–140k a month | The category template. It covers most of Noticed's features and built its audience through TikTok story videos |
| Vocal Image: Speaking Coach | 10,681 ratings, #135 in Education Top Grossing; launched 2020 years ago | An established player focused on voice training and AI roleplay, overlapping with Noticed's voice analysis |
| PatterAI: Communication Skills | 6,068 ratings, currently off the charts | Speak-out practice with voice feedback, with keywords nearly identical to Noticed's |
| Lavna (from SoloLearn) | Just launched in Oct 26, 0 ratings | Another established publisher entered the same week, with a social-question feed of one question every 30 seconds |
| Couth, say, WellVersed, Offcuff, AQLO, Caliber and others | Launched between 8 and October, most with ratings of 0–16 | Indie developers working on the same theme without money for paid acquisition |
Add ChatGPT's voice mode and free or ready-made practice tools like Yoodli, and users who want to practice speaking already have plenty of options.
Noticed's only slightly distinctive product choice is "watching real actors perform casual conversation videos before answering questions." There are no reviews yet to judge whether that improves retention: the store page shows only one five-star short review. Where it really differs from indie developers is behind the scenes: paywall testing, large-scale Meta ad buying and multilingual localization (Learna is already running ads in Vietnamese and Spanish). Codeway has all of these ready to go.
If it were you
C: You can learn from it, but following it isn't worth the cost. Noticed itself hasn't taken off yet, but the English social-skills space it sits in already has 200+ apps, one publicly shared revenue case study and at least two big studios. Copying Noticed means a small team competing for ad spend against a studio that earns over $100M a year.
Who it suits: a small team of 1–2 people who can make long TikTok story videos or find a group of creators to collaborate with; developers whose native language isn't English and who have firsthand experience of local social situations (workplace small talk, dating, drinking with colleagues).
Who it doesn't suit: those who can only write code and want to rely on ASO and organic store traffic; those who want to head-on build "Gleam II" in the English market.
How to do it: If you must enter, don't go after Noticed. Look at what Gleam hasn't done: switch languages and scenarios, for example Japanese workplace small talk, Korean dating openers or Chinese dinner-table conversation. Build practice around local real-person scenario videos, and price subscriptions one tier below the US. On features, Noticed and Gleam have already made "course + practice questions + voice feedback" standard, so there's no need to reinvent that.
How to get users: Follow Gleam's approach, not Noticed's. Make 5–10 minute "socially anxious to confident" story videos, bring in the app naturally at the end, and post them with creator collaboration tags. On launch week, set up in-app events: one for the debut, one riding that month's topic. It costs nothing.
Deadline: From the public breakdown of this category to big studios rolling it out across languages took about half a year. Codeway's Learna is already running Vietnamese and Spanish ads, and if Noticed gets more budget, the next step will likely be more languages. If you want a non-English version, it's best to launch before spring 2027 and get a first video that actually drives traffic.
Signs you've misread this: ① Noticed climbs back within the next two weeks, reaches the top 50 of Education Top Free, or starts showing up heavily in the Meta ad library: this means Codeway has decided to scale up, the paid-acquisition ceiling in this category is higher than expected, and the English market still has room for players with budgets. ② Noticed drops off the charts within a month and stops shipping updates: this means the studio tested it and gave up, possibly without ever running the numbers on paid acquisition, so small teams should be even more careful. ③ In the language you plan to build in, a local team has already turned the same category into thousands of ratings with story videos: that gap is already gone.

Noticed: Communication Skills (iOS 6801185181) research report
One-liner: Noticed is a new app from Turkish app factory Codeway (listed on the App Store under DEEP FLOW SOFTWARE SERVICES - FZCO, a Dubai entity), launched on 2026-10-22 and aimed at "communication / small talk / charisma" training. The category is already proven by Gleam (built by an indie dev, roughly $100K/month in revenue, with public case studies). It hasn't broken out yet: 15 days and 25 ratings in, it has slid from #127 to #202 on the US store's Education Top Free chart. Its recovery is driven by Codeway's standard new-launch playbook: keywords stuffed into the title and subtitle, in-app events, frequent review prompts in updates, and a simultaneous Android release. There are no signs yet of organic pull, meaning users recommending it or coming back on their own.
Where it's been checked: in the appstore library this app has only charted in the us store (by_country_now and app_day both show us only), and on Google Play it only appears on the us Education chart.
1. How to read the data card (correcting first)
- The developer is actually Codeway. The App Store seller is "DEEP FLOW SOFTWARE SERVICES - FZCO", but the same app on Google Play uses package name
com.codeway.softskill, with the developer listed as Codeway Technologies (CODEWAY TECHNOLOGIES - FZCO), website codeway.co (Play listing, 2026-11-06; the AppBrain page lists the developer as "Deep Flow Apps"). The privacy policies for Cleanup and Learna also name "Deep Flow Software Services - FZCO" (static.cleanup.photos/privacy.html). So DEEP FLOW is Codeway's Dubai publishing entity, not a separate company. - Codeway's scale: headquartered in Istanbul; on LinkedIn it claims 600M+ downloads, 60+ apps and 400+ people (Istanbul and Barcelona). Third-party write-ups put its annual revenue at $1–150M, with 9 of its apps each doing over $200k a month (thegrowthhackinglab.com, Reddit r/iOSAppsMarketing). Meta has published a paid-acquisition success case study on it (facebook.com/business/success/2-codeway-studios).
- Other apps under the same developer account (appstore library, us, 2026-11-06): Cleanup (top overall paid chart #41.8M ratings in the US store), Learna (top grossing #84.5M ratings), Retake, Chat AI, IQ Masters, Bible Path and others. Since June of 2026 they've launched Finrise (06-16), Dosely GLP-1 (08-13), Arc Translate (10-05), Noticed (10-22) and Scanner (10-23), more than one a month, which looks like batch testing of new products.
- Noticed's own numbers (appstore.app_day, us):
| Date | Education free chart | Cumulative ratings | Added that day | Version |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 11-01 | 178 | 7 | – | 1.0.1 |
| 11-02 | 127 | 7 | 0 | 1.0.1 |
| 11-03 | 184 | 8 | 1 | 1.0.2 |
| 11-04 | 192 | 9 | 1 | 1.0.3 |
| 11-05 | 200 | 12 | 3 | 1.0.3 |
| 11-06 | 202 | 22 | 10 | 1.0.3 |
Apple's lookup API 11-06 returns 25 ratings with an average of 4.52; version 1.0.4 was released 11-06. Its rank has been drifting down while ratings suddenly picked up on 11-05 and 11-06. That fits two things: a new version added a review prompt (the fixed update-note line is "Let us know what you think by leaving a review on App Store"), or small-scale paid acquisition began. Nothing points to organic downloads accelerating. The recall card's claim of 10 new daily ratings is accurate, but the base is tiny and it isn't a breakout.
- Google Play: launched 2026-10-19, 2,342 installs, #197 on the us Education free chart (googleplay library, 2026-11-06); the Play listing shows 5 reviews and a 3.8 rating. Volume is similar on both platforms and both are small.
- A correction to the recall card: the card says "Apple editorial PREMIERE", but that isn't an editorial pick. "PREMIERE" (Noticed: Speak Confidently) and "SPECIAL EVENT" (Career Development Month) are In-App Event labels that the developer can apply for on their own (App Store page, 2026-11-06). These events are indexed by store search and can qualify for Today or search placements, so they're an ASO tactic. There's currently no evidence Apple has editorially featured it.
2. Competitors (doing the same thing)
In the US App Store, filtering by name for apps containing small talk / communication skill / charisma / social skill / conversation coach / speaking coach / rizz gives over 200 apps (appstore library app_name, truncated at 200 rows), and most launched in the last 2026 years. This is an already crowded category. Below are the ones with traction and those from the same period:
| Competitors | Platform | Launched | Scale | How Noticed differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gleam: Social Intelligence(C137, LLC / Gleam Labs) | iOS | 2025-05-29 | US 12,081 ratings, 7 new ratings in 116 days, #147 on the Education free chart (appstore library 11-06); third-party estimates around $100K/month, and the founder has publicly cited $140K in a single month and 400k users (appsprint, YouTube interview) | The category's template: scenario lessons, quizzes and AI feedback covering EQ, dating and interviews. Noticed's selling points (scenario video questions, charisma, small talk) largely fall inside its scope, so Noticed is a "factory version" of Gleam. |
| Vocal Image: Speaking Coach(Vocal Image OU) | iOS / Android | 2020-10-18 | US 10,681 ratings, #135 on the Education top grossing chart (appstore library 11-06) | An established player focused on voice training plus AI roleplay conversations; Noticed's "Speech Analyzer" overlaps with its voice analysis |
| PatterAI: Communication Skills(SEEMFLOW) | iOS | 2025-05-16 | US 6,068 ratings (10-31 snapshot), not on a chart recently | Mainly "speak out loud + detailed voice feedback"; Noticed's name and subtitle are nearly its keywords |
| Lavna: Thinking・Social Skills(SoloLearn) | iOS | 2026-10-26 | Just launched, 0 ratings | Another established vendor entered the same week with 30-second-per-question thinking / social question flows |
| Same-period small products: Couth, say, WellVersed, NextSay, Offcuff, Rehearse, Sayably, Auric: Social Skills & Rizz, AQLO, Caliber and others | iOS | 2026-08 to October | Ratings mostly 0–16 | Mostly indie devs or small teams with the same theme; Noticed's difference from them lies in distribution and monetization behind it |
| Rizz apps (RIZZ, Rizzler, Rizz AI…) | iOS | 2024–2026 | Dozens | Focused on dating chat replies; overlaps with Noticed's audience but does something different |
| Ready-made features from big companies and content platforms | Other | — | — | ChatGPT voice mode, ELSA Speech Analyzer, Yoodli (web), Headway's communication book summaries (promoted on TikTok with #paidpartnership); all can be used to practice communication |
3. Growth tactics (where users come from)
| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Store search / ASO | Title "Noticed: Communication Skills" plus subtitle "Small Talk & Speech Coach", with communication skills, small talk, charismatic, speech articulation and leadership skills repeated throughout the description. It's classic keyword stacking (App Store page). | Yes |
| In-App Events | Two events, "PREMIERE: Noticed: Speak Confidently" and "SPECIAL EVENT: Career Development Month" (App Store page 11-06) | Yes |
| Review prompts / fast releases | In 15 days it shipped 1.0.1→1.0.4 four versions, all with the same boilerplate update notes asking for reviews; ratings went up 11-05→11-06 with 3→10 new ratings, and the timing lines up with the releases | Inferred |
| Meta paid acquisition | Codeway's old method is one same-named Facebook Page per app for paid acquisition: in the metaads library, Scanner (launched 10-23) has 11-03 active ads 79, Dosely has 120, Learna's Vietnamese page has 329 and its Spanish page 51. The library has no Page for Noticed and no ads pointing to it, but this library only tracks a fixed list of products, so not finding it doesn't mean it isn't advertised. | No (inferred that it will be tested) |
| Both platforms in sync | Android version 10-19, launched 3 days before iOS, 2,342 installs | Yes |
| TikTok / creators | TikHub searches for "noticed app", "noticed communication skills", "small talk app" and "communication skills app" found no Noticed content; similar apps pushed on TikTok include Articulate, Wellspoken, Oompf and Headway | No |
| X / media / Reddit | x-radar searches for noticedapp and Codeway turned up 90 posts in 0 days; web search only found store pages and download sites like CNET and AppBrain | No |
4. Why it's showing up (strictly speaking: why it's at the bottom of the chart)
- The category has already been validated: Gleam does social skills training, and there's a public case from April 2026 (Social Growth Engineers: downloads went from 30k to 70k in 30 days, MRR passed $100k), and the founder also talked on YouTube about $140K/month. Studios like Codeway target exactly this kind of category: indie devs have already made it work, but it's still small.
- The factory template works off the shelf: Learna's "video course + questions + voice feedback + subscription" setup becomes Noticed once you swap in the communication theme. Subscription pricing is $9.99/month and $79.99/year (recall card). Learna has reportedly reached 4M downloads in two months (a LinkedIn post by Nic Baird), showing how fast this setup can grow once the decision to scale is made.
- A standard distribution playbook at launch: ASO keyword title, two In-App Events, same-day cross-platform release, frequent versions that prompt for reviews. That's enough to squeeze into the #127–#202 range on a low-barrier category like Education.
- The data can't yet show the product has market traction: its ranking is sliding; 10 of its 25 ratings came in on the same day; and nobody is talking about it organically on TikTok or social media. For now it looks more like a Codeway test campaign than a product that has taken off.
5. Differentiation
- On the product side: scenario video questions (watch a small-talk clip, then answer) + speech analysis + a learning path of flashcards and quizzes. Gleam, Vocal Image and PatterAI already have most of this; the only slightly unique element is "real-person video scenarios", but there isn't enough evidence to call that a moat.
- The real difference is who's behind it: Codeway has subscription monetization, paywall A/B testing, large-scale Meta paid acquisition and cross-region localization (Learna already runs Vietnamese and Spanish ad pages). Indie devs in the same category grow through TikTok content; Noticed can simply buy users.
- Is this the reason it broke out? It hasn't broken out yet. Its visibility comes from resources and distribution, not the product itself. If it does take off later, the cause will most likely be Codeway deciding to add budget, not a better product.
6. Visibility and copycats
- Noticed itself is not well known yet: there's no discussion on the web, X or TikTok, and no public revenue.
- But the category and the vendor behind it have both been widely discussed: Gleam's revenue and playbook have a paid case-study library and YouTube interviews; Codeway's "Turkish app factory doing over $100M a year" has been dissected on Reddit, LinkedIn and growth blogs. So Noticed isn't an unnoticed opportunity; it's a big player following a path that others have already proven.
- Copycats: Noticed itself is copying Gleam. At the same time there's SoloLearn's Lavna(10-26), plus dozens of indie devs making apps on the same theme (Couth, say, WellVersed, Offcuff, AQLO, Caliber...). I haven't seen anyone specifically copying Noticed yet.
7. What others can borrow
- How to pick: find categories where indie devs have already publicly shared revenue but no big players have moved in yet. Swap in a ready-made course + prompt + voice-feedback template quickly, and launch on both platforms at once.
- Launch moves: keyword-rich subtitle, In-App Events in the launch week (Premiere a themed event tied to a season or work topic, like Career Development Month), and a high release cadence in the first two weeks, with every update aiming for good reviews.
- The other side, a warning for indie devs: once a case study goes public, factories move in about 6 months later (Gleam's case was 2026-04, and Noticed launched in 2026-10).
8. Still unclear
- Whether Noticed runs ads on Meta or TikTok (our metaads library doesn't track it, and the Meta Ad Library has no direct lookup).
- Actual revenue and retention. Third-party estimates (Sensor Tower, AppMagic) don't have data for the Noticed title.
- Whether those 10 new ratings on 11-06 came from review requests or paid acquisition. Whether its rank and new installs keep climbing over the next few days will tell us if it's being scaled up or dropped.
- Whether the "real-person video scenarios" can beat Gleam on retention. We can't judge without review samples (the appstore library hasn't captured its reviews; the store page only shows 1 5-star reviews).
