# A small Turkish company built its Bible widget a second time: it didn't take off in the US, it took off on Ukraine's Reference chart

**What it is** A small widget app that puts Bible verses on the lock screen and home screen, with AI faith Q&A, illustrated stories and a crossword, and a subscription that must be bought once the onboarding questionnaire is finished.

**Why it took off** The same company's earlier app already showed this category can make money. This time it relaunched under a new name, localized into 32 languages, and squeezed into small-country category charts in Ukraine, Armenia and Central America, where a few sales are enough to chart.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't copy the Bible widget directly. Take a subscription app you've already got working, launch a new one under a different name and keywords, localize into smaller languages to claim small-country category charts, and pair it with per-country pricing and win-back offers for cancellations.

Grade C: the playbook is worth learning, but the category is crowded in the US and Brazil by big players such as Monkey Taps and Haven, and several Turkish outfits also sit on the small-country charts. It makes only about $1K a month itself, so copying it isn't a great deal. Few people know about it yet

Christian Widgets is an app that puts Bible verses on the lock screen and home screen. It launched in Sep 7, and its developer is Prizmaly in Antalya, Turkey. It has never charted in the US. In Oct 28, it reached #3 on the Reference free chart in the Ukraine and Armenia App Stores, and entered the top 10 of the same category's top-grossing charts in Panama, Paraguay and Honduras. This is actually the same company's second app in this category, relaunched under a new name, using 32 languages to reach small-country charts that nobody else is fighting for. It can teach you a playbook, but the business itself is small and crowded.

### A Ukrainian user who found the text too small

In Oct 31, a Ukrainian user gave it one star with the title 'Completely disappointed!': the verse text on the lock screen was 'as small as it gets', and 'I don't wear glasses, so to read this verse I'd have to go get glasses first!!!!' The font-size setting in the app didn't help.

Scrolling further back, another Ukrainian review from Oct 3 gave it two stars, with the single-word title 'Платно' (Paid): 'No trial period, a subscription right away. The opening questionnaire is also very long.' In Nov 3, someone in Brazil wrote: 'I accidentally subscribed and can't cancel.'

These three negative reviews pretty much explain the app: it does one small thing, the lock-screen verses; the questionnaire is long, and a paywall follows as soon as it ends; and its users are mostly Ukrainian and Brazilian. Yet its average rating is 4.8 to 4.9 (App Store, 11-06; US 4.83, Ukraine 4.85, Brazil 4.90), and most five-star reviews just say 'Excelente', 'Muito bom' or 'Все добре' (pretty good).

### What it is

On opening, you first get a long questionnaire, and after it you must subscribe to use the app. The store description states this plainly: 'Christian Widgets requires premium access after onboarding.' Once you pay, you get:

- Lock-screen and home-screen verse widgets, which can rotate a verse hourly or daily, with an optional cross or a religious-holiday countdown;

- Browsing verses by themes such as 'faith, hope, peace, prayer', saving favorites, and generating shareable cards;

- Illustrated Bible stories and a Bible crossword puzzle;

- Later versions added a 'Christian AI chat' for faith questions, plus animated backgrounds.

No account sign-up and no ads. From Sep 8 to Oct 21,6, it shipped 13 versions (1.0.0 to 1.0.12, per the App Store version history).

### How far it has grown

Not much. Across the twenty-odd countries where it is visible on the App Store, it has 1,389 ratings in total, with 7 added in the last 169 days. The US store has another 200, but the US has never charted it (App Store, 11-06). The third-party tool AppSprint estimates its monthly revenue at about $1,000 and its monthly downloads at about 1,000.

Looking at it by country makes this clear:

| Country | Ratings (11-06) | New in the last 7 days | Best rank (10-28 to 11-06) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brazil | 554 | 22 | #57 in Reference top grossing |
| Ukraine | 433 | 87 | Reference free chart #3 |
| Mexico | 111 | — | — |
| Argentina | 58 | 6 | — |
| Chile | 38 | 10 | #9 in Reference top grossing |
| Panama | 30 | 9 | #5 in Reference top grossing |
| Honduras | 30 | 1 | #8 in Reference top grossing |
| Armenia | 28 | 4 | Reference free chart #3 |
| Paraguay | 24 | 4 | #7 in Reference top grossing |

Most of the new ratings in the last week came from Ukraine alone. But Ukraine is also fading: 10-28 hit #3,10-30 on the free chart, then #7,11-02, then #12, and by 11-06 it was down to #19 on the Top Grossing chart. Daily new ratings dropped from around 10-30–10-31 25 a day to just three or four by 11-04–11-05. This looks like a burst of paid acquisition followed by a drop-off, possibly a single campaign or a store feature (inference, no direct evidence found).

How low is the bar on these charts? On the same day, Holy Bible Widget, #4 on Ukraine's Reference Top Grossing chart, had only 180 ratings in Ukraine. The #1 app was a license-plate lookup tool, and most of the top 40 were translators and recognition apps. Christian Widgets, #5 Top Grossing in Panama, had just 30 ratings there. In these stores, a few sales a day gets you into the top ten.

### Where users come from

**Same category, second app.** Prizmaly already ran an almost identical app, From Bible: Bible Widgets, back in March 2026. It now has 3,345 ratings in Brazil and over two thousand in the US. But the older app has added only 7 ratings in the last 12 days, and it still holds its rank, likely propped up by renewals from existing subscribers. The new app has a different name (Bible Widgets vs. Christian Widgets), new screenshots, and new keywords, which gives it a second slot in search results. Newly listed apps also tend to get extra store promotion for a while (inference). Neither app has been removed, and From Bible shipped an update in October 27.

**32 languages, in places the big players skip.** Ukrainian, Russian, Armenian, Georgian, Uzbek, and Tamil are all covered. The US and Brazil charts are crowded with big players, but the Reference charts in Ukraine, Armenia, and Central America are uncontested. Chart placement there brings in some organic downloads on its own.

**Country-specific pricing, plus a win-back offer.** In the US, the weekly plan is $6.99, and annual has several tiers from $17.99 to $49.99. In Ukraine, the cheapest annual is $12.99 and weekly is $2.59. In Brazil, annual is R$149.90 to 229.90. There's also a "Return Offer", a discounted price shown after you cancel (App Store in-app purchase list, 11-06). That many tiers suggests they're constantly testing the paywall.

**The ratings may be prompted.** The app has a hard paywall and its written reviews are full of complaints, yet its average rating is above 4.8. A common tactic is to show the rating prompt during onboarding, before the paywall, when users haven't been charged yet. The same company's From Bible has a "user testimonials" page in its onboarding quiz (inference; I didn't directly see a rating prompt in this app).

Searching TikTok for it and for From Bible returns almost only creator videos for rivals like Haven and Heavenly. Nobody has mentioned it on X in nearly 90 days, and there is no press coverage.

### Where the money comes from

Subscription only, no ads. Roughly $1K in monthly revenue (AppSprint estimate) is small for this category. Its predecessor From Bible was estimated by ScreensDesign at under $5K a month, and the same source puts the company's lifetime earnings at about $30k with 40k downloads. Its other apps follow the same playbook: peptide tracking, affirmations, binaural beats, tanning reminders. All are small subscriptions with hard paywalls, a typical small-category subscription factory.

### Who it's competing with

Many, and most are much bigger:

| Competitors | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Bible Widgets: Verses & Prayer (Monkey Taps, Spain) | 126k US ratings, +7 in 1,980 days; 43k in Brazil; AppGazers estimates $86k–$655k/month | Category leader, holds the top spots on the US and Brazil free charts |
| Haven – Bible Chat | 150k US ratings; Sensor Tower estimates $100k–$500k/month | Leads with AI chat, drives US growth through TikTok creators |
| Bible Chat(Book Vitals) | Up to 370k ratings; publicly reported $250k MRR | AI chat first, widgets are a side feature |
| Bible Path(Deep Flow) | 47k US ratings, charted in 84 storefronts | Equally broad country coverage, an order of magnitude bigger |
| Holy Bible Widget (Orbit Studios, Turkey) | 2,260 US ratings; #4 on Ukraine's Reference Top Grossing chart | Same Turkish factory, same Ukrainian market, and it ranks higher |
| Quran Widgets / My Bible (Cloud Studios, Turkey) | Quran Widgets has 65k ratings, +7 in 3,662 days | The same template with the Quran, and it's far bigger |
| YouVersion Bible | 13.9M ratings | Free, with a built-in daily verse widget |

The money in this category has been discussed to death. Reddit has threads on "made $3k/month from a Bible widget app after 200 months", someone on X broke down Bible Chat's $250k MRR, and YouTube has whole videos on "faith-based apps". Factories in Turkey and elsewhere are copying the template in bulk, and several showed up in the first half of 2026.

### What it actually wins on

The product itself has nothing special: widgets, themes, AI chat, stories, and games, much like Monkey Taps, Haven, and Bible Path. Ukrainian users are even complaining the text is too small. Its edge is distribution: a second app in the same category, targeting smaller languages and countries that big players don't bother with. That's the only reason it's visible at all, and the ceiling is a few thousand dollars a month.

### If it were you

**Verdict** : Copy its tactics, but don't copy the Bible widget itself. The category belongs to the big players in the US and Brazil, and several Turkish factories already hold spots on the small-country charts. This app is only making around $1K a month.

**Who it's for** : Small teams or solo developers who already have one or two subscription apps working, and who know how to localize and tune a paywall, and who want another income stream for minimal extra development.

**Who it's not for** : Anyone without a single profitable app yet. This playbook amplifies existing products; it isn't a way to find new opportunities. If you came in hoping for "a Bible app making $200k/month", you'll be competing with Monkey Taps and Haven.

**How to do it** : Take a subscription category you've already validated and do three things:

1. Change the name, keywords, and screenshots, then launch a second app. The old one lives on renewals, the new one drives acquisition.

2. Localize into 20 to 30 languages, and target the category charts in small countries like Ukraine, Armenia, Central Asia, and Central America. There, a few dozen ratings and a few sales a day can put you in the top ten.

3. Price by country. Push the annual plan in low-price storefronts to just over $10. Test several paywall tiers, and add a win-back price on cancel.

If you want to do a religious app, look for scripture and language combinations no one has covered, like Quran Widgets did by applying the template to other religions and languages, rather than competing head-on with the English Bible.

**How to get users** : Mostly store search and small-country charts, with no creators or press needed. To cold-start, buy some Apple Search Ads in your target small countries to push your rank up, then let the chart bring in organic installs. Pay attention to recurring complaints in reviews like "no free trial" and "can't cancel". Small-country rating counts are tiny, so a few one-star reviews can drag the average down.

**Is there a window?** No clear time window. Small-country charts are easy to get onto because those markets are small and nobody is racing for them, but the number of factories in this category keeps growing, so the earlier you claim a spot, the better.

**What would prove this wrong** : (1) If in a few months Christian Widgets holds its rank in Ukraine and Central America and third-party estimates push its monthly revenue above $10k, then small-country scaling has a higher ceiling than it looks, and it's worth investing in more seriously. (2) Conversely, if it and From Bible both drop off the small-country charts and new ratings go to zero, then "launch another app" only buys a short burst of new-listing promotion and can't sustain itself.

Where users come from

- **Verified** **store search + multiple listings in the same category** : the same developer holds both "Bible Widgets" and "Christian Widgets"; after the predecessor's ratings stopped growing, the new app took over acquisition (appstore library)

- **Verified** **small-language localization + charting in low-barrier countries** : supports 32 languages; Ukraine and Armenia Reference free charts #3, Panama, Paraguay, and Honduras top 10 Top Grossing (appstore library 10-28 to 11-06)

- **Verified** **hard paywall + regional pricing + win-back offer** : the in-app purchase list has a dozen-plus tiers: annual $12.99 in Ukraine, weekly $6.99 in the US, plus an Annual Return Offer (on the App Store web page)

- Inferred **paid acquisition (Apple Search Ads / Meta)** : in Ukraine, 10-29 through 11-03 it added 12–25 ratings a day, then fell back to 3–4, which looks like a campaign; our ad libraries show nothing (it isn't on our tracking list)

- Inferred **review prompting** : a hard-paywall app with 4.8–4.9 ratings; the predecessor's onboarding had a social-proof screen (ScreensDesign); inferred the rating prompt sits before the paywall

- Inferred **TikTok / X / press** : TikHub search results are all competitors like Haven and Heavenly; x-radar shows 0 posts in 90 days; no press coverage

## Christian Widgets: Bible / Bíblia (iOS id6801835980, Prizmaly) research report

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data sources: appstore library (2026-10-28 to 11-06), iTunes lookup, App Store web pages, AppSprint, ScreensDesign, Sensor Tower public pages, TikHub, x-radar, Jina web search. Inferences are marked "Inferred".

### One line

The **second** Bible verse widget app from Prizmaly, a small subscription app factory in Antalya, Turkey. The product is lock screen and home screen verse widgets, plus AI commentary chat, illustrated Bible stories, and Bible word games, with a hard paywall right after onboarding. Launched 2026-09-07, shipped 13 versions in about six weeks. Its volume isn't in the US; it comes from **Ukraine, Armenia and small Latin American markets** , where the Reference category charts have a low bar: a few dozen ratings and a few sales a day can get it charted.

### Verdict

It **hasn't really "broken out"** . This is the same developer's second run at this category: From Bible from 2026-03 already proved it can make money, and this version re-skins it with a bet on a **store search entry point** (leaning on the word "Christian", with new screenshots and keywords). Charting came from **localization into 32 languages plus queuing on the Reference charts of low-bar countries** . The scale is small: third-party estimates put it at about $1K a month in revenue and 1K downloads a month (AppSprint, 2026-11-06). As a sample, the lesson worth copying is the playbook of "multiple listings in one category, spread across small languages." The product itself is not the reason it wins.

### Data

- **Ratings** : the library tracks 20 stores, 1,389 ratings combined, +169 over the last 7 days (appstore library, 11-06). The US store has another 200, not in the library because the app isn't charted in the US (iTunes lookup, 11-06). The card total drops from 1,478 to 1,389 because some countries fell off the charts and are no longer counted, not because ratings actually fell.

- **Country breakdown** (appstore library 11-06): Brazil 554 (+22 over 7 days), **Ukraine 433 (+87 over 7 days, half of all new ratings)** , Mexico 111, Argentina 58, Chile 38, and other Latin American countries at a dozen to thirty each.

- **Ukraine trajectory** : 10-28 was #3 on the Reference Top Free chart, then slid steadily: 10-30 #7,11-02 #12,11-06 down to #19 on the Reference Top Grossing chart. Daily new ratings fell from 25 on 10-30 and 10-31 to 3–4 on 11-04 and 11-05 (appstore library, app_day). It looks like a burst of concentrated acquisition that is now tapering (inferred: possibly a paid campaign or a store placement; no direct evidence found).

- **Best ranks** (10-28 to 11-06, appstore library): Armenia Reference Top Free #3; Panama Top Grossing #5; Paraguay Top Grossing #7; Honduras Top Grossing #8; Costa Rica and Chile Top Grossing #9; Guatemala Top Grossing #10; Brazil's best was only Top Grossing #57.

- **How low the Ukraine bar is** : on the same day, #4 on Ukraine's Reference Top Grossing chart was Orbit Studios' Holy Bible Widget, with only 180 ratings in Ukraine; #1 was a license plate lookup app. Most of the top 40 are translators and recognition tools (appstore library 11-06). So #19 on Ukraine's Top Grossing chart only means a trickle of sales each day.

- **Pricing** (App Store web page in-app purchase list, 11-06):
    - US: weekly $6.99, monthly $1.99, annual $17.99 / $34.99 / $49.99 across several tiers, plus a Return Offer at $24.49 / $34.99.
    - Ukraine: lowest annual $12.99, weekly $2.59.
    - Brazil: annual R$149.90–229.90, weekly R$16.90.
    - This many tiers means constant paywall A/B testing, plus regional pricing and a win-back offer on cancellation.

- **Update cadence** : from 1.0.0 (9-08) to 1.0.12 (10-21), 13 releases in 6 weeks. New additions include the Christian AI chat (with onboarding after payment), background videos, more languages, and more paid tiers (App Store version history).

- **Ratings of 4.8–4.9** (US 4.83, Brazil 4.90, Ukraine 4.85) are high for a hard-paywall app. The inference is that a rating request fires during onboarding, before the paywall; the sister app From Bible has a "user testimonials / social proof" screen in its onboarding (ScreensDesign screenshots). This is a common category tactic, and I didn't see the prompt directly, so it's unverified.

### Developer and predecessor

- **Prizmaly Yazılım Ticaret Ltd. Şti.** , Antalya, Turkey (prizmaly.com, privacy policy). Their App Store catalog has 7 apps: PepX (peptide tracking), Mood (affirmations), Better (AI health coach), Christian Widgets, Hamen (binaural beats), UVY (tanning / UV), From Bible. A typical "niche subscription app factory"; subscriptions are likely handled by RevenueCat or Adapty (prizmaly.com/privacy).

- **Predecessor From Bible: Bible Widgets** (id6759759625,2026-03-11 launched): the tracked stores combined have 8,504 ratings, with Brazil 3,346, the US 2,422, and Venezuela 621; **but it added only 12 in 7 days** . It still sits on the Reference charts of 20–25 countries, and 11-04 reached #1 in one country (appstore library). ScreensDesign estimates monthly revenue of <$5K, the developer has about $30K cumulative, and 40K downloads.

- The predecessor's ratings have stopped growing while its ranks hold, which means it's running on existing subscriptions, and new acquisition has stopped. The inference is that the developer moved user acquisition to a new listing: new name, new screenshots, new keywords, with the cold-start boost a new app gets and an extra slot in search results. Neither app has been pulled; From Bible is still receiving updates (10-27).

### Competitors

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bible Widgets: Verses & Prayer (Monkey Taps, Spain) | iOS + Android | 2025-05 | US 126k ratings, +1,980 over 7 days; Brazil 43k; AppGazers estimates $86K–$655K/month | The category leader, near the top of the US and Brazil Top Free charts. Christian Widgets is a small-language, low-price-region side play. |
| Haven – Bible Chat(E12 Holdings) | iOS | 2024-06 | US 150k ratings; Sensor Tower estimates $100K–500K/month; lots of #havenapp creator and ad videos on TikTok | Leads with AI chat plus lock screen verses, using TikTok creators to drive US volume. Christian Widgets has no TikTok presence. |
| Bible Chat(Book Vitals) | iOS | 2023-05 | Up to 370k ratings (appstore library), with publicly reported $250K MRR | AI chat first, widgets second |
| Bible Path: Prayers & Widgets(Deep Flow) | iOS | 2024-08 | US 47k ratings, charted in 84 stores | Same multi-store volume play, but an order of magnitude bigger |
| Holy Bible Widget: Daily Verse (Orbit Studios, Turkey) | iOS | 2026-03 | 2,260 US ratings; #4 on Ukraine's Reference Top Grossing chart | A Turkish factory targeting Ukraine too; a direct rival |
| Quran Widgets / My Bible (Cloud Studios, Turkey) | iOS | 2026-02 / 2026-07 | Quran Widgets has 65k ratings, +7 in 3,662 days | The same template applied to the Quran performed even better, showing Turkish factories are mass-cloning "scripture verse widgets" |
| Bible Widget (Kawaii) / Daily Bible Verse Widget / Divine / Heavenly and others | iOS | 2023–2026 | A few hundred to 34k ratings | Undifferentiated products, a large crowd |
| YouVersion Bible (Life.Church) | Big-company scale on iOS and Android | 2008 | 13.9M ratings | Free, with its own "daily verse" widget; a paid product has to compete with something free |
| From Bible (same developer) | iOS | 2026-03 | 8,504 rating | Its own predecessor, nearly identical features |

Verdict: **a crowded field** . The category is a public gold mine: Reddit posts like "3 months of a Bible widget app at $200k/month", breakdowns of Bible Chat at $250K MRR on X, and "faith-based apps" videos on YouTube all cover it. Christian Widgets has no clear feature difference.

### Growth tactics (evidence)

1. **Store search + multiple listings** (confirmed as the playbook; effect inferred): the same developer runs two apps in one category, with names claiming "Bible Widgets" and "Christian Widgets", both with the subtitle "Bible Verse & Lock Screen".

2. **32 languages + listing in low-bar countries** (confirmed): supports 32 languages including Ukrainian, Russian, Armenian, Georgian, Uzbek and Tamil (iTunes lookup). It ranks near the top of the Reference charts in Ukraine, Armenia, Uzbekistan and Central American countries, where the bar is very low. Once charted, the chart itself brings some organic downloads.

3. **Hard paywall + regional pricing + win-back offer** (confirmed): a subscription is required after onboarding; annual $12.99 in low-price regions; a Return Offer exists.

4. **Paid ads** (unverified): ratings in Ukraine rose sharply around 10-28 and then fell, which looks like a campaign (Apple Search Ads or Meta). Our Meta / TikTok ad libraries show nothing for Prizmaly (it isn't on our tracking list, so no results doesn't mean no spend).

5. **TikTok / X / press** (checked, nothing found): searching TikTok for "christian widgets app", "prizmaly" and "from bible" returns only creator videos for competitors like Haven, Heavenly and Holy Space, with none for this app. x-radar shows 0 posts in the last 90 days. No press coverage at all.

### Why it (modestly) took off

- The predecessor From Bible already proved the category and paywall can make money (thousands of ratings across Brazil and the US; ScreensDesign estimates under $5k/month), so this is a low-cost copy.

- The localization covers small languages and small countries that big players and US leaders skip. Reference Top Grossing charts in these countries need only a handful of sales to chart, and charting brings exposure (#3 Free in Ukraine and Armenia, appstore library 10-28).

- The cold-start boost of a new app, frequent updates (6 weeks, 13 releases), and high ratings (4.8+) together held up search conversion.

### Differentiation

Almost none. Compared with Monkey Taps, Haven and Bible Path, the features are nearly identical: verse widgets, themes, AI chat, stories, games. The only real difference is in **distribution** : targeting small languages and small countries that the big English-speaking players ignore, plus several listings in one category. That is the only reason it charts, but the ceiling is low (roughly $1K a month in revenue).

### Visibility

The app itself is **still little known** : no press coverage, no discussion on TikTok or X, no public revenue, only third-party estimates on AppSprint and Similarweb. But its **category's revenue has been widely discussed** : Haven at $200K MRR, Bible Chat at $250K MRR, Monkey Taps at over $12M a year, and a "Christian Bible Widget App for Women" on TrustMRR that publicly reports about $4.9K a month.

### Copycats

Not really copying it. It's a batch of factories in Turkey and elsewhere running the same template: Orbit Studios (Holy Bible Widget, 2026-03), Cloud Studios (Quran Widgets 2026-02, My Bible 2026-07), Dripcode (Biblia: Widgets y Versículos, 2026-01), Two Sparrows (2026-10), and others.

### Takeaways

- A validated subscription category can be reopened with a new name and new keywords as a fresh listing, so two apps can split existing renewals and new installs.

- A category that's a US red ocean, moved to smaller-language and low-price store charts, gets you visibility on very few sales. Pair it with per-store pricing (Ukraine annual at $12.99).

- Multiple A/B tests on the paywall, plus a Return Offer to win people back.

### Uncertain

- Was the October peak in Ukraine's ratings driven by paid acquisition? Which channel?

- Real revenue (third-party estimates only ~$1K/month), and how much renewal income From Bible still has.

- How did the US store's 200 ratings come about (the US never charted).

- Was the rating prompt placed before the paywall? (inferred)
