# Drakor.ID, which you can't find on iPhone, has its name taken by a shell app

**What it is** An Indonesian-language K-drama recommendation and reference app. It copies the name and icon of the Android drama brand Drakor.ID, is free, and makes money only from ads.

**Why it took off** Drakor.ID has never had an official App Store version, so when iPhone users search the brand name, this is the only result. Then in October the Android app was renamed Drama ID, so even more people went looking for it.

**C** **How you could follow this** Don't take someone else's trademark, but you can learn from how it finds gaps: look for demand terms where Android or web users are plentiful and there's no official iOS app, then use your own name plus a generic term to take the search slot, and build something users actually find useful once they arrive.

C grade: the play is clear and almost nobody notices it, but the volume is small, it depends only on ads, it's built on someone else's trademark and possibly pirated features, and it could be pulled at any time. The same play already has a pile of copies on the Indonesia charts, and the window for this kind of rename wave has mostly passed. Still hardly anyone knows about it

Indonesians watch K-dramas on Android, and many use a free app called Drakor.ID, which has never had an iPhone version. In 2026 August, an app named 'drakor.id indo sub drakor' appeared on the App Store, with the same red-lettered icon and a store listing that reads 'AI drama recommendation assistant.' By Nov 5 it had climbed to #30 on the Indonesia Entertainment Free chart. It grew not through features but because iPhone users searching the brand name could only find it. The play is easy to copy, but the users were actually pulled in by the brand name.

### 'Without Drakor ID, I'm so sad'

In 2026 Oct 1, TikTok user @susi_haeruddin posted a video titled 'Drakor ID Sekarang jadi Drama ID' (Drakor ID is now called Drama ID), with 29k views. Two days later, @ky_rhy5 posted a migration tutorial, 'Tutorial Pindah Dari Drakor.id ke Drama ID,' with 8,816 views and 110 comments. In Oct 10, another user posted 'galau banget gak ada drakor id' (so sad there's no Drakor ID), with 17k views.

Here's what happened: Drakor.ID is an established free K-drama app in Indonesia with Indonesian subtitles. It has existed since 2021 and only ever shipped Android and APK installs. This autumn it changed its package name and was renamed Drama ID. The new package already has 311k installs on Google Play, with 7k more in the last 46.6 days (Google Play, 11-06). Lots of long-time users are searching everywhere for it.

iPhone users have it harder. Under the TikTok topic page for 'Drakor Id Di Iphone,' a related search is 'Kenapa Drakor Id Tidak Ada Di App Store,' meaning 'Why isn't Drakor ID on the App Store?'

### What it is

The store listing says it's an Indonesian-language K-drama recommendation and reference app. You tell it the genre, mood, or actors you want, and its 'AI assistant' recommends shows and explains why. It also shows synopses, episode counts, and cast, and lets you save shows and mark them as watched. It's free with no in-app purchases. The privacy label says device IDs are used for third-party ads, so the money can only come from ads.

A closer look is a bit odd:

- **Name** is made of three words: the brand term 'drakor.id,' plus two high-frequency search terms, 'indo sub' and 'drakor.'

- **Developer** is CARFARM MORTISE. Its website is an empty blogspot page that says 'There's nothing here!', and its privacy policy is a blank Google Sites template. The same account published an Arabic rabbit-keeping log app in Oct 7.

- **Versions** : released Aug 26 (1.0), updated Sep 22 (2.0) with release notes that just say 'new app design,' and no updates since.

- **Screenshots** : the show detail pages have no play button.

Whether it can actually play shows is not verified by installing it. The likely pattern is that it submitted a library to Apple for review and switches to a version that plays shows from its server after launch, but the points above all fit that.

### Charts and ratings

| Project | Metric |
|---|---|
| Indonesia store rating count | 10-28 is 129,11-06 is 177, growing +3 to 8 per day, and +7 over the last 31 days |
| Average | 4.67,180 ratings and not one text review |
| Indonesia Entertainment Free chart | 10-28 to 11-04 at #45–51, then jumped from #11-05 to #30 |
| Other countries | Bahrain Entertainment Free chart #104, Malaysia #191 |

App Store data, 10-28 to 11-06.

Not one text review, yet it has 180 star ratings averaging close to 4.7. That doesn't look like real users rating it on their own. It looks more like the app prompts for a good rating (inferred). 11-05 went from #48 to #30, but that day it only gained 3 ratings. It may be that other apps on the same chart dropped off, but the cause isn't clear.

### Where users come from

**Almost all of it comes from App Store search.** An iPhone user hears from a friend that Drakor.ID is good, opens the App Store, searches, and this is the first result: same name, same red lettering. Searching 'drakor.id app iphone' on the web also ranks it first.

Because Android users were looking for it everywhere during the package change, the volume funneled to it may also have increased. The timing matches, but the causality hasn't been verified.

What I didn't find: on TikTok, searches for 'drakor id iphone' and 'drakor id app store' turned up no one recommending it. On X, nobody mentioned 'drakor.id' in the last 60 days. I also saw no ads. Almost nobody outside Indonesia knows about it.

One comparison is telling: MyDramaList is a legitimate K-drama reference database whose features nearly match this app's description. In the Indonesia store, it gained only 7 ratings in 1 days and ranks #142 on the Entertainment chart. drakor.id gained 31 in a week and ranks #30. Indonesians don't want a show-recommendation tool. They want the name that lets them watch shows for free.

### Who is competing for the same users

The 'Customers also downloaded' section on the Apple store page lists KuuFlix, LomTV, PinaTV, and Televisi Indonesia Langsung. On the Indonesia Entertainment Free chart, #30–40 are mostly the same kind of app:

| Competitors | Launched | Indonesia market size | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drama ID / Drakor.ID (Android) | Since 2021; new package 2026-10 | Google Play 311k installs, +46.6k in 7 days | The brand being copied, which can stream shows, but has no iOS version |
| ngeDrakor (Android) | Not verified | Google Play 669k installs, +14.5k in 7 days | Another Android drama-streaming brand, also with no iOS version |
| KuuFlix | 2026-05 | 1,123 ratings, +129 in 7 days, ranked #33 | Uses its own brand, says it streams and offers offline downloads, gets about 4x the volume |
| LomTV | 2026-03 | 691 ratings, +169 in 7 days, ranked #31 | A player shell, already on version 7.1 |
| LOK-LOK : 4 Picks, No Scroll | 2026-08-27 | 141 ratings, +15 in 7 days, ranked #34 | Same playbook, copying Loklok; launched at the same time, growing at half the speed |
| Drakoryn | 2026-09-01 | 0 rating | Also riding the word drakor, didn't break through |
| Viu / WeTV / Viki | 2011–2018 | 6,761 to 20k ratings, all in the top #40 | Official, paid or ad-supported |

Most of these apps were uploaded 2026 years ago from individual developer accounts, with pirate brand terms or words like "watch free" in their names. Grabbing an iOS name for a drama-streaming brand that only exists on Android is already a common play in Indonesia, not something this app invented.

### If it were you

**Verdict** : There's not much worth copying from this app itself. It's small (thirty-odd ratings a week), lives on ads, and its name belongs to someone else. What you can take is a way of finding gaps: **some brands have lots of users on Android or the web but no official App Store presence; when users ask on TikTok and Google "why isn't X on the App Store," that query is demand nobody is supplying.**

**Who it fits** : Teams that do App Store search optimization, are willing to rotate accounts and packages monthly, and can live with being pulled at any time. Or people who have legitimate content and can build a real iOS version to catch these users.

**Who it doesn't fit** : Indie developers who want a long-term product and to build account reputation. Using someone else's brand as your name gets you pulled as soon as the owner complains. If you actually switch the server to pirated streams, you violate Apple's guideline 2.3.1 (hidden features) and 5.2 (intellectual property), and the whole developer account gets banned. Apps like this usually die within a few months, which is why the same developer keeps a second shell ready.

**How to do it (the legitimate version)** : Find needs where Android is big and iOS is empty. Don't squat on someone's trademark. Claim the space with your own name plus generic search terms, like "nonton drakor" or "indo sub." Build something genuinely useful, such as legal watchlists, new-episode reminders, or Korean learning from subtitles, so users stick around. KuuFlix got 4x the volume with its own brand, which shows search traffic doesn't require grabbing a name.

**How to acquire users** : App Store search is the main channel. Before launch, search TikTok for phrases like "tidak ada di App Store" and "versi iPhone" to see which brands get asked about most.

**When to look before** : The weeks when a brand changes packages, gets pulled, or renames are when search demand is messiest, and also when it's easiest to capture. Drakor.ID became Drama ID in early October, and this wave has mostly passed.

**What would mean we got it wrong** : If Drama ID launches its own iOS version, or Apple pulls it over trademark issues, this app's volume would vanish overnight. If it keeps its users after losing the name, that means there's real streaming value inside, and it's more than a name squatter.

## drakor.id indo sub drakor (iOS id6802148004) research report

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data sources: appstore library (2026-10-28 to 11-06), googleplay library, Apple lookup and store pages, Jina web search, TikHub TikTok search, x-radar.

### Bottom line

It didn't win through the product. It **squatted on the iOS name of an Indonesian Android pirate drama app, "Drakor.ID"** . Drakor.ID never had an official iOS app, and its Android version kept changing names and packages (Drakor.ID → Drama ID) starting 2026 years ago, with an October rename. When iPhone users search "drakor id" in the App Store, this is the only result, so the organic volume flows here. The store page says "AI drama recommendations + show library," which reads like a shell written for Apple's reviewers. We never installed it to verify whether it actually streams (meaning whether there's a remotely controlled "B-side"), but there's a lot of indirect evidence.

### 2. Why it took off

#### 2.1 demand: the Drakor.ID that can't be found

- "Drakor.ID" is a long-running free K-Drama app and brand in Indonesia that offers Indonesian subtitles. It has existed as com.drakorid.app (BursaDrakor Mobile, 1.7/1.8 versions on APKPure) since 2021; it's now run by the developer "Drakor Indo Apps." The old Android package com.stream.drakorindoawet has 84k downloads on Uptodown, and 2026-10-13 it's still being updated.

- This brand switched packages in autumn 2026. On TikTok, 2026-10-03 has a video "Tutorial Pindah Dari Drakor.id ke Drama ID" (8,815 plays, 110 comments) walking people through the move, and another video says "Drakor ID Sekarang jadi Drama ID." The new package "Drama ID - Nonton Drama" (com.stream.newdrakorid, developer Drakor Indo Apps) shows **311k installs and +7k in the last 46.6 days** in the googleplay library. The brand still has a large active base on Android.

- On iOS, Drakor.ID has never had an official app. TikTok's discover page for "Drakor Id Di Iphone" has a related search: "Kenapa Drakor Id Tidak Ada Di App Store" (why isn't Drakor ID on the App Store). iPhone users are looking for it, and it isn't in the App Store.

- This app's name, "drakor.id indo sub drakor", is just three terms stitched together: the brand "drakor.id" and the high-volume search terms "indo sub" and "drakor". The icon and screenshots use the red "drakor.id" wordmark, same as the brand. Searching "drakor.id app iphone" on Jina, it ranks first.

**Conclusion** : users come to it because on iPhone it's the only result for the brand search (App Store search intercepts the traffic). It may pull even more when Android brand re-packaging sends users hunting around (timing, an inference).

#### 2.2 Is it a "front" (shows an A side at review, then remotely switches to a B side after launch)?

**Not verified, not installed** . Indirect evidence:

1. **Peer comparison** : MyDramaList, which really does K-Drama cataloguing and recommendations, has only 168 ratings in the Indonesia store, +1 over the last 7 days, and ranks 142 in Entertainment. drakor.id claims to do the same thing, yet grows 30 times as fast and ranks 30. Cataloguing alone doesn't get this kind of volume in Indonesia.

2. **"Customers also downloaded"** (App Store page): KuuFlix, LomTV, PinaTV, Televisi Indonesia Langsung, Soonshot. The first few were all uploaded 2025–2026 years ago from individual developer accounts ("Manlin Peng", "Thi Thao Hoang", "Nan Wu"), are "watch TV" apps linking to external sites on .space / .rest / .xyz domains. It competes for the same users as these apps.

3. **Rating pattern** : all 180 ratings are star-only with no text, average 4.67. That doesn't match real user feedback. It looks more like an in-app rating prompt, or possibly ratings that were gamed.

4. **Account pattern** : the developer name is randomly assembled (CARFARM MORTISE), the website is an empty blogspot, the privacy page is an empty template (domain miterone has nothing to do with drakor), and the same account published an Arabic rabbit-raising app. This is a typical batch-review account.

5. **Version pattern** : 1.0 was completely redesigned less than a month after launch (2.0 "new app design"), with no updates since. The common playbook for disguised packages is to submit a shell for review, then switch the content server-side.

6. **Chart neighbors** : positions 30–40 on Indonesia's Entertainment Top Free are nearly all the same type of app: LomTV (31), KuuFlix (33), "LOK-LOK : 4 Picks, No Scroll" (34, riding the pirate brand Loklok, 2026-08-27 up), Wibuku Id : Anime Pro (37,2026-09-19 up), Dash Flick, SnapFlick. All were published 2026 years ago under individual accounts, with names stuffed with pirate-brand terms or "watch free" keywords.

7. **Counter-evidence** : the detail page in the store screenshots has no play button (only synopsis, status, episode count, favorites, and watched). If it really is just a catalogue, users are tricked in by the brand name, find they can't watch anything, and retention should be poor. But the rating has held steady at 4.7, which contradicts that.

#### 2.3 Retention and monetization

- It's free, with no in-app purchases, and relies on third-party ads (the privacy label lists Device ID → Third-Party Advertising). The ad network can't be identified from the listing.

- No retention data.

### 3. Growth tactics (by strength of evidence)

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| App Store search interception (squatting brand terms + keyword-stuffed names) | The name is only "drakor.id / indo sub / drakor"; there's no official iOS version of the brand; TikTok related search "Kenapa Drakor Id Tidak Ada Di App Store"; on Jina, "drakor.id app iphone" ranks it first | Confirmed (the tactic); search share not quantified |
| Demand spillover from Android brand re-packaging | 2026-10 TikTok has Drakor.id → Drama ID migration tutorials; Drama ID +46.6k installs in 7 days (Google Play data) | Timing matches; causation not verified |
| In-app prompts for good reviews / gamed ratings | 180 ratings with no text at all, average 4.67 | Inferred |
| Paid acquisition (Apple Search Ads / Meta / TikTok) | Not tracked in the ad libraries; apps riding a brand term that buy Apple Search Ads on that term carry high risk, so this is unlikely | Not found |
| TikTok / creators | TikHub searches for "drakor id iphone", "drakor id app store", "drakor.id ios" found no videos promoting it; only one @drakor.id088 account posts episode clips (11-06,583 plays), and whether it's connected is unclear | Not found |
| X / media | x-radar search for "drakor.id": 60 posts in the last 0 days | None |

### 4. Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Drakor.ID / Drama ID(Drakor Indo Apps) | Android (and APK sites) | Since 2021; new package 2026-10 | Drama ID 311k installs, +46.6k in 7 days; the old package on Uptodown has 84k downloads | The brand it's riding on, which plays shows directly; there's no iOS version, and that's the gap it exploits |
| ngeDrakor - Nonton Drama Korea(Kimchilabs.id) | Android | Not verified | 669k installs, +14.5k in 7 days | Similar Android streaming apps under different brands; none on iOS |
| KuuFlix: Movies & K-Dramas | iOS | 2026-05-21 | Indonesia 1,123 ratings, +129 in 7 days, Entertainment chart #33 | Named after its own brand, advertising streaming and offline caching; its volume is 4 times this app's |
| LomTV : Watch Series & Movies | iOS | 2026-03-26 | Indonesia 691 ratings, +169 in 7 days, Entertainment chart #31 | Player / Movie Box shell, version up to 7.1, frequent iteration |
| PinaTV | iOS | 2025-12-22 | 867 ratings in Indonesia, +57 in 7 days | Plainly described as a "video streaming platform", not a catalogue shell |
| LOK-LOK : 4 Picks, No Scroll | iOS | 2026-08-27 | Indonesia 141 ratings, +15 in 7 days, Entertainment chart #34 | Identical approach: riding the pirate brand Loklok; launched around the same time, growing at half the speed |
| MyDramaList | iOS / web | iOS 2023 | Indonesia 168 ratings, +1 in 7 days, Entertainment chart #142 | A genuine K-Drama catalogue whose features most closely match its description, yet it has almost no volume in Indonesia, which suggests the features aren't what drives its numbers |
| Viu / WeTV / Viki / iQIYI | iOS (major studio official apps) | 2011–2019 | Viu 20k ratings, WeTV 6,761, Viki 15k; all in the top 40 of Entertainment | Official paid / ad-supported; this one is free and rides a brand term |
| FlickReels, DramaWave, ReelShort, DramaBox and other short-drama apps | iOS | 2022–2025 | Top 20 in Indonesia Entertainment | Short drama is a separate demand pool, not a direct competitor |
| Drakoryn(NovIns Dev LLC) | iOS | 2026-09-01 | 0 rating | Also rode the drakor term, didn't break out |

### 5. Differentiation

The real difference is just one thing: **it was the first and only app to lock up the "drakor.id" brand name on iOS** . "AI drama recommendation assistant" appears in the description, but MyDramaList, which is tiny in Indonesia, shows that the feature alone doesn't bring volume. So the differentiator is brand-name interception, and that's why it broke out.

### 6. How visible it is

Almost nobody knows about it yet. No revenue disclosed, no media or X coverage (0 posts on x-radar), and nobody promoting it on TikTok. It's only visible in the search boxes of Indonesian iPhone users.

### 7. Copycats

No one is copying it specifically. The same playbook (squatting on iOS with brand names from Android / web pirate streaming) is already common on Indonesia's charts: "LOK-LOK : 4 Picks, No Scroll" rides Loklok, Wibuku Id rides an anime site, and Drakoryn rides the drakor term. It's a genre playbook, not its invention.

### 8. Takeaways

- Look for brand and demand terms that have big audiences on Android / web but no official iOS version, and claim them as App Store names. Before launching, check TikTok / Google for searches like "why isn't X on the App Store", which reveal these gaps.

- Brand re-packaging, takedowns, and renames create windows where search demand is most chaotic and interception is easiest.

- **Risk** : using someone else's trademark as your name can get you taken down at any time. If there really is a remotely switched pirate B side, it violates Apple's 2.3.1 / 5.2 guidelines and the account can be banned outright. Apps like this usually live for months, so the usual approach is multiple accounts and rotating packages (this developer already has a second shell).

### 9. Uncertain

- Whether the app actually lets you watch shows (whether there is a B side) hasn't been verified by installing it.

- Whether it has any link to Drakor Indo Apps (the brand itself) is unverified: the brand may have filled the iOS gap with a disguised account, or a third party may be riding the name.

- 11-05 The chart jumped from 48 to 30 for reasons unclear. Rating growth didn't change much (+3/day), so other apps on the same chart may have dropped off.

- No data on ad revenue, ad networks, or retention.

- Whether the 180 ratings were gamed hasn't been verified.
