3 scores put it in Israel's Top Grossing top 10: Bisky rebuilt Solid Starts in Hebrew
What it is A Hebrew baby-food and allergen-tracking app for new parents: log what the baby has eaten and how many times peanut or egg has been tried. The knowledge is free; continuous tracking costs ₪34.90 to unlock.
Why it took off Baby-food apps like Solid Starts are all English in the Israeli store. This one is the only native Hebrew option, built around Israeli eating habits. Israel's top-grossing bar is very low, so a few in-app purchases a week are enough to reach the top 15.
CHow you could follow it Pick a mid-sized language that big companies haven't localized. Use Solid Starts' structure but rewrite the content for local diets: free knowledge, one-time purchase for tracking, and launch through local mom groups and a local-domain landing page. Expect only a side income of a few hundred dollars a month.

A Hebrew baby-food app with only 3 reviews reached #8 on Israel's App Store Food & Drink top-grossing chart in late October. It sounds like a breakout, but it isn't: that chart's bar is low enough that a few in-app purchases a week can get you there. Still, it did one thing right, and anyone building apps for smaller languages should study it: take a parenting-anxiety tool already proven worldwide and rebuild it natively in a language big companies haven't bothered to localize. Below: what it is, where the money comes from, how much of the ranking is real, and whether you could do the same in another language.
A six-month-old baby: "She's tried all the vegetables and fruit, what's next?"
On the evening of Oct 3 2026, someone posted in "מאמיז Mommies", one of Israel's biggest mom groups: their daughter just turned six months old, they've already tried every vegetable and fruit, so what's next? Should they start switching off bottles? Should they give water every day?
The post got 29 replies. Some said to start allergens: eggs, tahini, peanut butter. Some said fish and chicken are fine now, cheese can wait. One reply was just one line:
"There's an app called ביסקי טעימות (Bisky Tastings), and it's all in there."
That's all Bisky has in terms of word of mouth: one group reply, with no way to tell whether the poster is the developer. But it shows where users are and what they're asking: new mothers keep asking the same questions in Facebook groups, and the answers are scattered, with no one helping them keep track of what the baby has already eaten or how many times peanut butter has been tried.
What it is
"ביסקי - מתחילים טעימות לתינוקות" (Bisky: Starting Tastings for Babies), roughly translated. 2026-08-31 launched on iOS, and it's also on Google Play (com.bisky.app, 1K+ downloads, Play store page). The iOS version is Hebrew only.
The features cover the things parents look up most during the weaning stage:
- log which foods have been eaten, moving forward by stage;
- allergens tracked by "3 exposures" (landing page examples: "Peanut 2/3", "Sweet potato exposure complete!");
- build and save meals; the 1.2.0 version of 10-21 says "160 staged multi-food combinations";
- one tip a day; twins and triplets get separate profiles; accounts can be shared with a partner.
The pricing is straightforward: the food library, recipes, cutting guides, and safety notes are all free. Tracking is limited to the first 7 foods and 3 allergens. To keep logging, you buy ביסקי פרימיום (Bisky Premium), which on the Israel App Store page is a single in-app purchase at ₪34.90 (about $9.5). Whether it's a one-time purchase or a subscription isn't clear from the store page (unverified).
Why this one: the category has no Hebrew contender in Israel
Baby-food tracking isn't a new need. Solid Starts launched in the US 2021 years ago, with 47k reviews on the US store and a subscription of about $40–100 per year. Avo Starting Solids offers free tracking of about 350 foods, with Premium at $24.99 per year. Demand and pricing for these have long been proven.
But in the Israeli App Store, all of these apps are in English:
| Product | Israel store rating (11-06) | Is there Hebrew? |
|---|---|---|
| Solid Starts | 366 | No, the store page is English only |
| Avo Starting Solids | 0 | No in the app; the website 10-20 published a machine-translated Hebrew blog post to capture search |
| Starting Solids & Baby Food (Turkish team) | 8 | Yes, 30 batch-translated it into several languages at once |
| Baby Plates | 1 | No (English / Russian / Spanish) |
| Bisky | 3 | Hebrew only |
Bisky's localization is not translation, it's a rewrite. The landing page's "build a meal" example uses tilapia (אמנון) with carrot and onion, and the allergen list includes tahini and pistachio spread, everyday foods in Israeli homes. Twin-parent registration sits in the first onboarding step, since Israel has a relatively high twin rate. The landing page carries four reviews from "parents who asked," and the first one reads:
This app lowered my anxiety level and gave me some structure. — Michal, Ravi's mom
Anxiety is the reason to pay. The solids stage lasts only 6–12 months, and parents fear allergies, so ₪34.90 buys peace of mind. The entry barrier is low.
Where users come from: a cold start on a one-person budget
The visible channels are all free or very cheap:
- Mom-group word of mouth: the reply that opens this report (early October). In Israel, Facebook groups are the main information hub for new parents.
- Its own social media: the Facebook page "ביסקי - BISKY" has 32 followers, and Instagram @bisky_app has 6 posts and 0 followers, mostly posted in 10-22 bursts, covering allergen exposure 3 times and staged solids guidance, tagged #טעימות #מוצקים #BLW.
- Website and search: bisky.co.il is a full Hebrew landing page, and the download buttons carry source-tracking parameters (ct=bisky_website for the App Store, utm_source=bisky.co.il for Play), which suggests the developer is closely tracking how many downloads each channel brings. Searching "baby starting solids app" in Hebrew, bisky.co.il ranks #3 (11-06) in organic results.
- Store search (inferred): the app name is itself the core Hebrew search term "starting to add solids for babies."
- Paid ads: none found. The Meta ad library page didn't load, so I can't confirm there was no spend.
The developer appears as Liam Lam on the App Store and BEESKY on Google Play, with only this one app under each. I couldn't identify the person; from the copy and local details, they are most likely in Israel (inferred).
How much water is in the #8 rank
A lot. Israel App Store daily data (10-28 to 11-06):
| Date | Score | Food & Drink Top Grossing | Food & Drink Top Free |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | 3 | 11 | 104 |
| 10-30 | 3 | 8 | 77 |
| 11-02 | 3 | 9 | 51 |
| 11-05 | 3 | 9 | 52 |
| 11-06 | 3 | 13 | 77 |
Over 10 days the rating never moved, and it charted in only one store, Israel. Look at its neighbors on the same chart (11-06): among the top 20, 2–5 are new Hebrew recipe apps launched this year, with 1–16 ratings; #16 has 0 ratings, and #18 has 1. The English baby-food app Baby Plates has only 1 ratings and sat at #14–47 every day of these 10 days.
In other words, in this store and this category, a few in-app purchases a week can get you into the top 15 (inferred). Bisky's real revenue is estimated at a few hundred dollars a month (inferred, unverified). For comparison: Solid Starts has 366 ratings in Israel but ranks #63 on the Education top grossing chart in its own category, so the two aren't in the same category and rank positions can't be compared directly. What we can say is that in Israel, a new Hebrew app with only 3 ratings already ranks above the English competitors in revenue.
The ceiling is also clear: Israel has roughly 180k births a year (estimated), each family uses it only during the solids half-year, and it's a one-time purchase with no recurring payment.
Who it's competing with
No one is directly copying it yet. Two things are worth watching:
- Avo: October wrote a Hebrew search blog, which shows it has noticed this market. The day it localizes the app itself into Hebrew and lists in the Israel store, Bisky's one edge is gone.
- Hebrew all-in-one baby logs (מעקבון Trackeron, ליה Lia, etc., launched 2026 years ago): they track feeding, sleep, and diapers, with solids as just one item. If they deepen the solids part, they'll crowd Bisky too.
The other side is free authoritative content: the Ministry of Health's Tipat Halav lectures, HMO and hospital solids guides, and nutritionists' paid WhatsApp groups. They have the knowledge but no tracking tool, and that is the layer Bisky sells.
If it were you
C: there's a good playbook to learn, but copying it isn't worth much. Israel is already taken by Bisky, and the market itself is a few hundred dollars a month. Redoing it in another language would likely land in the same range, and revenue has never been validated.
Who it suits: those whose native language is a mid-size one that major companies don't localize (Polish, Czech, Turkish, Romanian, Hungarian, and similar), who have kids or are in a circle of new-parent groups, and who want a small, steady side app at low cost while practicing localization and cold starts.
Who it doesn't suit: anyone who needs this app to pay the rent; anyone who can only translate and doesn't understand local eating habits (that's exactly what's being sold here: "made the way locals make it"); anyone planning English, Spanish, or Portuguese (Solid Starts and a pile of similar apps are already there).
How to build it: follow Solid Starts' skeleton, but rewrite the content locally: the first foods commonly given, the allergens common locally (for Israel, tahini and pistachio), and what the local pediatric guidelines say. Give knowledge away free to earn trust, charge for consistent tracking; the solids period is short, so use a one-time purchase, not a subscription. One person can finish it in a month or two.
How to get users: first answer solids questions in the largest local mom Facebook groups (or the local equivalent platform), mention the app only where it fits naturally; build a landing page on a local domain and name the app after the core local search term; put source parameters on every download link so you know from day one which group or post worked.
When to move: there's no rush, and no seasonality. The real time pressure comes from the big players: the day Solid Starts or Avo localizes the app into your language, this slot is gone. First check which languages their store pages support, and pick the ones they don't have.
What would show this read is wrong: ① Bisky's ratings are still in single digits by early 2027, and it falls out of the top 200 on the free chart, which would mean even "the only Hebrew player" can't generate volume, so small-language arbitrage doesn't hold in this category; ② Avo or Solid Starts ships a Hebrew version in the Israel store and Bisky's rank is quickly pushed down, which would mean this kind of edge can't be defended; ③ the reverse: Bisky's ratings climb into the dozens or hundreds within two or three months and it holds steady in the top 5 of Israel's Food & Drink Top Grossing, which would mean this business is bigger than it looks and redoing it in another language deserves a higher grade.

ביסקי / Bisky: Research report on the Hebrew baby solids and allergen tracking app in Israel
key: ios_6803816006 | channel: iOS (Israel store) | developer: Liam Lam (only this one app) | first release 2026-08-31 | research date 2026-11-06
One line
A Hebrew-native "starting solids / introducing solid foods" tracker: it logs which foods the baby has eaten, checks off allergens over 3 exposures, pairs meals, and offers daily tips. Free to download; the free tier only unlocks tracking for 7 foods and 3 allergens, with the rest in Premium (iOS in-app purchase "ביסקי פרימיום" ₪34.90, about $9.5).
Verdict
It didn't "break out." It reached #8–13 on Israel's Food & Drink Top Grossing chart because the bar on that small storefront and category is very low: on the same chart, apps with only 0–1 ratings also make the top 20; other English baby-food apps in the database with 0–8 ratings also reach #14–47. Bisky's real edge is that it is the only product in this category built from scratch in Hebrew and localized to Israeli habits, while the market leader Solid Starts is English-only on the Israel App Store. Parents come from Israeli mom Facebook group word of mouth, and the developer also posts on Facebook and Instagram. It is very small, a solo-built small-language localization arbitrage case study, and it hasn't yet drawn much attention.

- For 10-28 days straight over 10 days, its rating count stayed at 3 (4.7 stars), not one more. Only the il store charted it. Version 1.2.0 (2026-10-21), release notes say "160+ phased combinations, shared accounts."
- Google Play: com.bisky.app, 1K+ downloads, Hebrew and English, has in-app purchases, updated 2026-10-29 (Play store page). The googleplay library does not track this package.
- The chart bar: 2026-11-06 il Food & Drink Top Grossing top 20 entries, ranks 2–5 are all Hebrew recipe apps launched in the past 2026 years, each with only 1–16 ratings (שף כיס, HomeMade by Meshi, LetMeCook, YumGram). #16 Robert Parker has 0 ratings, #18 Pregnancy Diet has 1. English baby-food apps look the same: Baby Plates has 1 ratings and has sat at #14–47 on the grossing chart daily for 10-28–11-06; Starting Solids & Baby Food (8 ratings) is #44, First Spoon (0 ratings) is #45. So #13 probably only means a few in-app purchases a week (inference, unverified).
- For comparison: Solid Starts has 365 ratings in il, its main category is Education, where it ranks #63 on the category grossing chart (library, 11-06). On Israeli iOS, Bisky's grossing rank is not far from Solid Starts'. But they sit in different categories, so they can't be compared directly.

Growth tactics (where users come from)
- Israeli mom Facebook group word of mouth (evidence found): About 4 weeks ago, someone in the "קהילת מאמיז" group replied: "The next app called 'ביסקי טעימות' has everything in it" (Jina search snippet; the post needs login to view, and whether the poster is the developer is unverified). In Israel, Facebook groups are where new parents mainly swap information.
- Running their own social media (evidence found, but small): The Facebook page "ביסקי - BISKY" has 32 followers, 2026-10-22 posted a batch of posts at once covering allergen exposure 3 times and how to move through solid stages, with hashtags #טעימות #מוצקים #BLW. Instagram @bisky_app has 6 posts (all posted by 10-22) and 0 followers. Traffic on both platforms goes through the app.bisky.co.il redirect link.
- Website + attribution (evidence found): bisky.co.il is a full Hebrew landing page. The App Store link carries pt=129342805&ct=bisky_website, the Play link carries utm_source=bisky.co.il, which shows the developer tracks downloads by channel. The landing page has 4 "parent reviews" (Michal, Danit, and others, each noted as a parent who uses the app).
- Store search (inferred): The app name uses the core Hebrew phrase "מתחילים טעימות לתינוקות" (starting solids for babies) directly. When Jina searched "אפליקציה מעבר למוצקים תינוקות", bisky.co.il ranked #3 in organic results.
- Paid acquisition (not found): This Page is not in our metaads library. The Meta Ad Library web page can't be read through Jina, so this can't be confirmed. A TikTok search for "ביסקי" only returns anime characters and cookie cakes, unrelated to this app. The name also doesn't appear in x-radar.
Why it makes this much revenue
- Language and cultural localization: Hebrew only (the iOS languages list is HE alone). The landing page examples are foods and allergens common in Israeli homes, such as אמנון (tilapia) and חמאת פיסטוק (pistachio spread). It has multi-baby profiles for twins and triplets, which are common in Israel. It can also share accounts with a partner. The big players in this category are English only in the Israeli store. No one else has a native Hebrew product.
- Must-have need, anxiety-driven, short window: Solids and allergen introduction make new parents anxious (a landing page review says it in plain words: "it brought my anxiety level down"). Anxiety turns directly into willingness to pay, and a ₪34.90 one-time price is a low bar.
- The free tier stops at the key point: Food library, recipes, cutting guides and safety notes are all free. Tracking only unlocks 7 foods and 3 allergens. Once parents reach a stage that requires ongoing logging, they hit the paywall.
- Low bar: On the Israeli F&D grossing chart, a few sales a week can get an app into the top 15, so "#13" looks much bigger than the actual volume.
Differentiation, and whether it's a manufactured ranking
The differentiator is one thing: native Hebrew plus Israel-specific content. The features themselves (food library, allergen tracking, combinations) are similar to Solid Starts and Avo, and its content is much thinner. This gap is really why it earns money in Israel: English competitors on the same chart have more ratings, yet rank below it. But it only works in a market of 900 million people, so the ceiling is low.
How visible it is
Few people know about it: no press coverage, no mentions on X, no disclosed revenue (TrustMRR and others have nothing either). Facebook has 32 followers, Instagram 0. The only word of mouth visible is one group chat reply.
Copycats
No dedicated clones spotted. Avo has a Hebrew SEO blog at 2026-10, so they're eyeing the market, but the app still ships English-only on the il store.
What others can borrow
- "A globally proven anxiety-driven parenting tool, rebuilt natively for a small language": Solid Starts proves the demand and pricing. In languages big vendors don't localize, such as Hebrew, Polish, Czech, and Turkish, one person can build it and quickly reach the top of the category grossing chart in a single country.
- Give knowledge away free, charge for tracking: free content earns trust, continuous logging is paid.
- Cold start through local mom Facebook groups, plus a local landing page domain with UTM tracking. Very little ad spend.
- A one-time ₪34.90 purchase sells better than a subscription. The solids phase only lasts 6–12 months, so subscription retention is naturally short.
Unknowns
- Is Premium one-time or subscription? The iOS page lists only one ₪34.90 in-app purchase, while the recall card says $9.99. Billing period unverified.
- Actual revenue and downloads: the grossing chart bar is very low, so the only inference is a few hundred dollars a month (unverified).
- Whether they spent on Meta ads: the ad library wasn't pulled.
- Whether the recommendation in the group was organic word of mouth.
- Developer background: the name Liam Lam doesn't match any findable person. Judging from the quality of the Hebrew copy and local details, the team is likely based in Israel (inference).
