XPipe Pro: Pipefitter Calc · Jakub Trytek

A $19.99 pipe-fitter calculator built by a Polish welder: charted in a dozen-plus countries' Top Paid, only a few hundred sold in total

What it is A calculator for pipe fitters and welders: 35 calculators, each answer comes with a to-scale shop drawing, prints 1:1 layout templates, exports DXF. $19.99 one-time purchase, offline, 24 languages.

Why it took off The author is a working fitter, and it uses European metric units with EN / DIN standards, plus drawings and layout templates. Polish trade peers recognized it the moment it launched. The multi-country charting happens because small-country Top Paid charts have a very low bar: one or two sales can put you in the top 10. Real volume is tiny.

CHow you could follow this Don't build another pipe-fitter calculator. Pick a trade and a country you've worked in yourself, where no good local tool exists. Do a one-time purchase, offline, with drawings, a free trial on your website, then look for amplifying channels like trade training and distributors.

C grade: the product is polished, yet after two months it has only sold a few hundred copies. The bottleneck is distribution. Pipe-fitter calculators have seen a wave of newcomers over the past 2026 years, so the category is crowded, and what peers trust here is the author's own trade experience, which followers can't copy. What's worth learning is the method, not the category. Few people know about it yet

On Sep 4, XPipe Pro went live on the Polish App Store. The next day, Polish welders and fitters started leaving five-star reviews. Jakub Trytek, who made it, is a registered sole proprietor in metalwork in a small Polish province, and he works in the trade himself. Two months later it sat near the top of the paid Utilities charts in Poland, Croatia, Sweden and Estonia, which looks like European traction. In reality it has 19 ratings worldwide, all from Poland, and 280 Android installs total. Below: what makes it good, why the chart positions mislead, how crowded this category is, and whether you should copy this path.

Six five-star reviews on day two

The Polish App Store has 11 written reviews in total. 6 of them cluster on Sep 5 and 6, the first two days after launch. Signatures like "Weldforce", "Welder89.191", "Spawacz wymiatacz" ("welder who wipes the floor with it"). The content is consistent:

Widać że aplikacja tworzona przez osobę która pracowała w branży a nie tylko stworzyła „gotowca". — You can tell this was made by someone who actually worked in the trade, not a quick off-the-shelf template. (Dominikcbr, 9-05)
Printing layout templates on A4 is simply genius! Finally someone thought of it. (9-06) — 4

A longer review on Sep 23 was more specific: "Printing the template at 1:1 on A4 finally lets me cut branch saddle joints that fit tight; drawings can also be exported straight to others." After that, only a few more reviews trickled in through Oct 22, and in the last 7 days there have been no new ratings at all.

The reviews bunch up in the first two days, are all five-star, and sound like peers. The most likely source is the author's own colleagues, clients, and the Polish welding community (inference; I found no specific group or post). That's the first batch of users, and so far almost the only one.

What it is

A calculator for pipe fitters and welders, available on iPhone and Android. $19.99 one-time purchase (39.99 zł in Poland, about $10). Works offline, no ads, no sign-up, 24 languages.

According to the website xpipe.pro: 35 calculators, 98 standards, 100 pipe diameters, 152 flange types. It computes what the shop floor needs daily: how long a piece of pipe to cut to offset two half-elbows, how to mark a line for an elbow cut at a non-standard angle, how far back to measure around the pipe circumference for a branch saddle, and the development length for square-to-round transitions. It also covers some very "old-hand" questions, like the copy for the pressure test:

The gauge is down 8 bar this morning: a leak, or just a cold night?

Its biggest difference from typical pipe calculators is that every answer comes with a to-scale drawing of that exact piece, with dimensions placed where you'd put the tape measure. Layouts can be exported as DXF for CNC cutting, or split into multiple A4 pages by 1:1 and taped to the pipe for marking. There are also isometric drawings, cut lists and weld logs, so it's moving from "calculator" toward lightweight pipe design software.

It uses European metric and EN / DIN / ISO standards, which matters a lot. The category leader, Pipe Trades Pro Calc (Calculated Industries, launched 2013 years ago, 4,406 US store ratings), follows the American inch-based, key-press calculator model, with no drawings. European fitters have long lacked a handy tool that uses their own units and standards.

Why it charted in a dozen-plus countries

Start with the numbers (App Store, 10-28 to 11-06):

MetricValue
Global ratings19, all in Poland, 5.0 points; 10-28 to 11-06 added 1 more
Poland Top Paid Utilities chartBouncing between #3 and #24
Best rank in other countriesEstonia #1 (10-28), Sweden #2, Croatia #5 (11-03), Slovenia #9, Colombia #10, Japan #30; best US rank 94
Android9-14 launch, 10-29 total 254 installs, 11-06 total 280, about 3 per day (Google Play)

In small markets like Estonia, Croatia and Slovenia, the Top Paid Utilities bar is low enough that one or two sales can land you in the top 10. It has no ratings in those countries, so the chart appearances most likely came from a handful of sales (inference). "Charted in a dozen-plus countries" sounds impressive, but translated into sales it's very small.

The 280 Android installs are the only hard number. iOS volume is probably similar. Together, that's a few hundred copies sold and a few thousand dollars of gross revenue (estimate). The website says "Fitters from 34 countries already use XPipe Pro", a self-reported claim that fits with "a handful of sales in each country".

The countries that charted are also telling: Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Sweden and Austria match the route Eastern European fitters and welders take when working on sites in Nordic countries and German-speaking regions. 24 languages are useful for these mobile workers (inference).

Where users come from: the author is pushing, but it isn't moving

Apart from the Polish trade community, every channel I could find is run by the author:

  • Self-promo post on Reddit r/pipefitter: "I'm a fitter and I built the pipe app I wanted on the job", plus a post promoting a web-based isometric editor. I can't see how it was received.
  • TikTok @xpipepro: 7 followers, 13 videos, the top video has 1,107 views, captions in Polish. In Oct 26 it posted "show us the job you're welding in the comments, promo code for the best one", and almost nobody replied. Instagram started posting in Sep 17.
  • Website as a trial: the xpipe.pro homepage runs the app's real algorithms live. Change a number and the drawing and dimensions update. xpipe.pro/iso/ is a full browser isometric editor that exports PDF / DXF. Results can be shared as a link, and people who don't have the app can open it in the browser. The "try free, then buy the app" design is well done, but very few people come.

I found no ads, press coverage, X discussion, or public revenue figures. There's also a disadvantage: searching "XPipe" is dominated by a server connection tool with the same name (xpipe.io, which also sells "XPipe Pro") and the car exhaust part X-pipe, so the brand name doesn't surface it.

So the problem is clear: the product is good and peers vouch for it, but outside the author's own circle I found no second channel that can scale.

Who it's competing with

This is an old category, and over the past 2026 years a lot of people suddenly piled in:

ProductLaunchedScaleVersus XPipe Pro
Pipe Trades Pro Calc20134,406 US store ratings, backed by a physical calculator brandAmerican inches, no drawings
Pipefitter / Pipefitter_Pro(Tomasz Szymański)2016 / 2022Android version has 16,259 installs, $8.49; 54k Facebook followers; iOS has consistently ranked top 30 on the paid Utilities charts in Poland, France, Norway and SlovakiaAlso Polish, also metric, the most direct competitor. Fewer features than XPipe, half the price
Pipe Fitting(xNeat)2025-04138 ratingsFree + in-app purchases, lookup-focused
PipeBook, FitterMaster, GearTech OS, PipeFit Pro2026-02 to 2026-08A few to twenty-odd ratings eachAll new within the past 2026 years, mostly American, with about 10 calculators each, and no to-scale drawings or layouts

The last line is the most telling: in half a year at least four new pipe-fitter calculators appeared, and r/pipefitter regularly has someone posting "I built a pipe app". Frontline workers using AI to write code and build tools for their own trade has become common. XPipe Pro isn't the first or the biggest, but it's the most thorough one.

If it were you

C: worth learning from, but following it isn't worth the effort. The pipe-fitter calculator category is already crowded. XPipe Pro polished the product to the limit, and after two months it has sold only a few hundred copies. The bottleneck is distribution, not the product. Copy the method, not the category.

Who it suits: people who have worked in a specific trade (electrical, HVAC, sheet metal, scaffolding, rigging), who know its jargon and local standards, and who can use AI to build the app. The author is already doing this: in October he also released XTray Pro, a cable tray calculator ($14.99), and XPipe Academy, a fitter training app ($0.99).

Who it doesn't suit: people who have never worked in the trade and want to copy XPipe Pro with another pipe-fitter calculator (peers will spot that immediately, and what peers vouch for in these reviews is precisely "this was made by someone who did the job"), and people hoping to make real money from it (at current volume, that's a few thousand to maybe $10–20K a year).

How to do it: pick a trade you know well and a country that has no good local tool. One-time purchase, offline, no account. These users hate subscriptions, and job sites often have no signal. Every answer comes with a to-scale drawing that you can print and send to others; reviewers kept praising that. The website runs the real algorithms as a free trial, and results shared by link can be viewed by people without the app.

How to get users: XPipe Pro has shown that your own peer circle can bring the first few dozen paying users, but not many more. The next step is finding a channel that scales: trade training schools and certification bodies (the developer's Academy is probably aimed at this), welding consumables and tool distributors, labor agencies, or the workers' own TikTok / YouTube accounts. Check whether the brand name clashes with existing names first.

Timing: there's no clear window, and this isn't a race against time. But apps built by workers for their own trades keep multiplying every month. The most common trades get claimed first, and niche trades are still open.

What would mean I misread it: ① XPipe Pro's ratings went from a handful to over a hundred in Q1 2027, with ratings coming from outside Poland. That would mean it found a channel it could scale, and the niche is wider than it looks. ② It charts in Germany, the UK, or the US Top Paid Utilities top 20 and holds there. That would mean a vertical tool can sell in big markets too. ③ The other way round: if its Android installs stay flat at around 300 until December, the trade's own circle is the ceiling for this kind of product, so don't expect much from it.

One line

A Polish pipe / welding sole trader (XTECHNIK Jakub Trytek, Biadoliny Szlacheckie in Lesser Poland, registered under "metalworking") built this pipefitter calculator: 35 calculators, each answer comes with a to-scale construction drawing, and it outputs DXF / 1:1 A4 layout sheets, isometric drawings, and weld logs. On both iOS and Android it's a one-time $19.99 purchase, in 24 languages, offline, no sign-up. What it calls "breaking through" is really 19 ratings from its home-country network, plus occasional appearances in the Top Paid Utilities charts of small countries where the bar is very low. Absolute numbers are tiny; it hasn't broken through.

How to read these numbers:

  • In small storefronts like Estonia, Croatia, and Slovenia, a single-digit number of sales in Top Paid Utilities can put you in the top 10. Ratings in these countries are all 0, so charting is most likely just a handful of sales (inferred). Only Poland has accumulated ratings across the whole dataset, which means real users are mostly in the developer's home country.
  • Android has 280 installs in total, about 3 a day: the only hard number. iOS is probably similar in scale (inferred). Rough estimate: a few hundred copies sold across both platforms so far, a few thousand dollars gross (unverified).
  • The website says "Fitters from 34 countries already use XPipe Pro" (text Exa pulled from xpipe.pro). That's a self-reported figure, and it fits with "a few sales in each country."

Bottom line: this is an old category with plenty of competitors, and in the last 2026 years a clear wave of new apps has arrived (PipeBook, GearTech, FitterMaster, PipeFit Pro, plus posts like "Built a pipefitter reference + calculator app" on r/pipefitter). That suggests frontline workers plus AI coding tools are churning out these apps in bulk. XPipe is not the first, and not the biggest.

3. Where users come from (the evidence found)

  1. The developer's home-country network (main source, inferred): all 19 ratings are from Poland, all 5 stars, and they were all in before late October. The developer is a registered metalwork / welding sole trader (gowork.pl and metalisci.pl list "Projekt-Weld Jakub Trytek" and "XTECHNIK Jakub Trytek"). It likely spread through coworkers, clients, and Polish welder / fitter groups. No specific Polish-language posts were found (Facebook groups aren't accessible), so this is unverified.
  2. Founder self-promotion post on Reddit r/pipefitter: "I'm a fitter and I built the pipe app I wanted on the job: offsets drawn to scale, isometrics with a cut list, fishmouth templates, 35 calculators. iPhone AND Android" (post 1wsfynb). There's also "A web editor for piping isometric drawings" (1wjfk49), which looks like the same person promoting the web isometric editor. Reddit body text was blocked by 403, so vote counts and comments weren't retrieved.
  3. TikTok @xpipepro: 7 followers, 13 videos, top single video 1107 views; captions are in Polish (#spawanie #monter). 10-26 ran a "post a photo of your weld in the comments and get a promo code" campaign. Almost no effect.
  4. Instagram @xpipepro: posting started 2026-09-17; reach wasn't retrieved.
  5. The website as funnel: xpipe.pro runs the app's own calculations in the browser (live calculation and drawing for two-elbow offsets), plus a full browser isometric editor at xpipe.pro/iso/ that exports PDF / PCF / DXF. It's a "try free, then buy the app" design. Sharing also brings in new users: measurement results sit behind a link after the #, so someone without the app can still view them on the web.
  6. Passive exposure from small-country paid charts: the bar for Top Paid in EE / HR / SI / SE / CO is very low. A chart appearance brings a bit of store traffic, but there's no evidence it was deliberately pushing for charts.
  7. Not found: ads (none in our ad library; that doesn't mean none were run), press coverage, X discussion (x-radar: 0 posts), TrustMRR or revenue posts, creator partnerships.

There's also a name collision: searching "XPipe" or "xpipe pro" is mostly filled by xpipe.io (a server-connection manager that also sells an "XPipe Pro" license) and car exhaust "X-pipe" results. Brand-name search works against it.

4. Why it took off (and why it hasn't really)

  • The author is a working pipefitter: the algorithms and wording are shop-floor language ("take-out", "fishmouth", "cold spring", "when it's cold the reading drops 8 bar: is it a leak or the cold?"), and it covers European standards (EN 10253, EN 1092-1, DIN 11850, ISO 6412, EN 1011-2). It complements the US-imperial-focused Pipe Trades Pro, so Polish peers are willing to pay 40 zł.
  • European labor-export trades + 24 languages: pipefitters and welders from Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, and Ukraine work heavily on sites in Scandinavia, Germany, and the Netherlands. The countries where it charted (PL, HR, SI, EE, SE, AT) match this distribution (inferred).
  • One-time purchase, offline, no account: job sites have no signal and workers dislike subscriptions. For this audience, those are real selling points.
  • But growth has stalled: in the last 9 days it got 0 new iOS ratings, and Android sees about 3 installs a day. Its small-country chart positions are up and down. For now it's riding local-network launch buzz plus low-bar small-country paid charts, and I haven't found a channel that can scale it.

5. Differentiation

  • Engineering rigor as the selling point: two separate engines, Swift and Kotlin, cross-checked bit-for-bit on 84,542 test cases, plus 315 geometry tests. They don't ship a language until it's fully ported.
  • European standards, metric first, covering hygienic piping (DIN 11853, ASME BPE) and welder qualifications (ISO 9606-1 / ASME IX expiry reminders).
  • Are these differences why it took off? Partly. Among Polish peers, "knows the trade, European standards, comes with drawings" is a reason to pay. But the differentiation itself hasn't driven any sharing. The bottleneck is distribution, not the product.

6. Visibility and copycats

  • Visibility: few people know about it yet. No press, no discussion on X, no public revenue. 7 TikTok followers. On Reddit, only the founder's own posts.

7. What others can borrow

  • Built by someone from the trade for the trade, with jargon-heavy copy and localization done properly (EN / DIN). Some people will pay a one-time $20.
  • The site runs the real App calculations directly, and a browser-based editor serves as the free trial. Growth comes from share links (data lives after the # so recipients can view it without installing the App).
  • One developer shipping both iOS and Android, with two engines cross-checked so results match. That level of engineering investment is only affordable with AI-assisted development (inference; the release cadence is very dense).
  • The playbook can transfer to electricians, HVAC, sheet metal, scaffolding. The developer has already built XTray Pro (cable tray, $14.99,2026-10-21) and XPipe Academy (training, $0.99,2026-10-13).

8. Uncertain

  • Actual iOS downloads and revenue (Apple doesn't disclose); whether the Polish ratings are organic or from friends / prompted reviews.
  • Reddit post votes, comments and posting date (obscured by 403); whether there was promotion in Polish Facebook groups.
  • Whether Meta / Google ads were run (not tracked in the database).
  • "34 countries" is self-reported.
