# "How do you play that voice-dubbing game on your phone?": a solo developer in São Paulo caught the Brazilian kids riding the Choicer Voicer wave

**What it is** An app for dubbing movies, cartoons and meme clips: it prompts you line by line to record your voice, keeps the background music, and exports vertical video for TikTok. Available on web and both mobile platforms.

**Why it took off** The dubbing mode of the PC mini-game The Choicer Voicer hit tens of millions of views on TikTok in August, but there was no mobile version. Within a week it shipped mobile and web versions, then caught Brazilian teens with creator revenue sharing and Portuguese-language scenes.

**C** **How you could follow it** Don't copy this one exactly; copy its reaction speed. Watch for gameplay that goes viral on TikTok but exists only on PC, ship web and Android within a week, bet on an unclaimed non-English market, and build creator-specific links and subscription-based revenue sharing into the product.

Grade C: the demand came from a one-time spike that has already peaked. English and Portuguese are both crowded with copycat apps, and the clip material carries copyright risk. What's worth learning is the playbook; following this particular one now isn't worth much. It's circulating in a small circle

DubTake is an app for dubbing movies, cartoons and meme clips: it splits the video into lines, you record your own voice following the prompts, background music and sound effects are kept, and you export vertical video straight to TikTok. It's built by one person in São Paulo. The demand didn't come from its own marketing; it came from The Choicer Voicer, a dubbing mini-game with only a PC version that went viral on TikTok in August. DubTake's move was to bring that gameplay to mobile and the browser within a week, and to bet only on Brazil.

### Aug 14, a "how to play it on mobile" post with 1.42M views

In early August 2026, The Choicer Voicer, a game independent developer YeahMaybe had put on itch.io, blew up on TikTok over its "Dub Mode": 8-06 a "Toy Story on Choicer Voicer" video got 15.4M views and 2.09M likes, and 8-07 and 8-16 each had close to nine million. The gameplay is simple: the game plays a movie clip, you voice the characters' lines, and you play back the recording to laugh with friends.

The catch was that it only ran on Windows and Linux, and was still an early beta. In August 14, the Brazilian TikTok account dilizinho posted "Como Jogar Aquele Jogo de Dublagem no Celular" (How to play that dubbing game on your phone), which got 1.42M views. A US user put it more bluntly under a rival app of the same type: "Found out that dubbing game only works on PC..." (App Store review, 8-24).

Two days before that, in August 12, the domain dubtake.com was registered. The registrant was Wallace Bezerra da Silva, a solo developer in São Paulo who also has four or five small apps, such as guitar chords and filters. In mid-August, DubTake's TikTok account @dubtakers started posting, with the caption "DubTake choicer voicer web app". The August 29 video "Como dublar toy story no celular" (How to dub Toy Story on your phone) got 510k views. It launched on Android in September and on iPhone on Sep 21.

Its user agreement says it supports "community-made dubbing packs packaged in that format", and states it has no connection to The Choicer Voicer. Put simply, it is a mobile and web player plus recording studio for that game's content format.

### How big it is now

| Metric | Metric | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Android installs | 44,250,7 days +14,064 | Google Play,11-05 |
| Android ratings | From 1,712 in one week to 2,416; store page rating 4.4 | Google Play, 10-29 to 11-05 |
| iPhone rating | 4 countries combined 107 reviews; in the past 7 days +35, of which Brazil 102 | App Store,11-06 |
| iPhone chart | Only ranked #147–#210 in the Photo & Video free category chart; never made the overall or Top Grossing charts | App Store,11-06 |
| Web | Configure directly in the browser; claims 700+ scenes, 18k lines of dialogue, 21 languages | dubtake.com |
| Pricing | Pro $4.99/month; annual plan iPhone $49.99, Android $24.99; scene packs also sold separately | Store page |

Its main traction is on Android and web; iPhone is small. Android added 704 ratings and 14k installs in one week, with a rating rate of about 5%, far above the typical app. It looks like the rating prompt appears right after the first line is recorded (inferred). The iPhone description only says "import videos from your photo library" and doesn't mention the built-in scene library, possibly because film clips couldn't pass Apple review (inferred), which may be why iPhone growth has been slow.

### Where users come from

Several channels ran at the same time:

- **Top Brazilian creators** . The official site's Creators page lists 12 people, and the first is Brino (11.2M followers on TikTok). Brino posted two #dublagem videos on 8-21 and 8-22, with 428k and 151k views; DubTake's own account also posted a video tagged #brino, with 470k views (8-22). Whether Brino's posts are paid or made with the app can't be confirmed.

- **Small dubbing accounts with links.** brunowagnerdub (16k followers) posted fandubs of Digital Circus and Superbad back to back starting 8-19, with captions reading "App: Dubtake" and 60k to 115k views per post. Turkey's beggecuk, 11-05, posted videos carrying a dedicated link, dubtake.com/c/beggecuk.

- **Creators get a cut of subscriptions.** dubtake.com/parceiros is a partner dashboard that shows "your sales and commissions." On first launch the app asks "where did you hear about us, and what's your creator code?" On Android it also reads the install source, so each subscription is credited to the creator who sent the user. Clone apps riding someone else's name almost never have this.

- **Paid ads.** The site runs Meta, TikTok and Google conversion tracking that passes back purchase amounts, plus win-back emails for abandoned checkouts. How much was spent and on which creatives isn't visible from outside.

Momentum is fading. @dubtakers' August videos routinely hit 300k to 500k views. Mid-October still had two posts in the hundred-thousands. Late October into early November, a few posts were down to a few hundred views (TikTok, checked 11-06).

### Where the money comes from, and what users complain about

Hard paywall: the free tier only lets you dub the first line, then a subscription prompt appears. On the Brazilian web version you can pay with Pix instead of a credit card, which matters a lot for Brazilian teens, and it also sidesteps store commissions.

The cost shows up in the reviews. Of the most recent 10 App Store Brazil reviews, 6 are one-star, and they nearly all say the same thing:

> A primeira dublagem é de graça mais é apenas uma fala, e para continuar dublando tenque pagar (The first dub is free but it's only one line, and to keep dubbing you have to pay). App Store Brazil, 11-01

There are five-star reviews too: "Saw it online, love it, my son loves it, and I play along" (10-06). The users are mostly kids and teens. The parents are the ones paying. It has never charted on any top-grossing list, and its conversion rate and revenue aren't public.

### Who it's competing with

Since August, this category has been flooded with apps riding the Choicer Voicer name, and many of them are growing faster:

| Product | Platform | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| The Voicer Choicer(Aitor Barbany) | iPhone, listed 10-28 | 9 days, 807 ratings, #6 in the US Games category (App Store, 11-06) |
| Choicer Voice Studio(Nextha Code) | Android, listed mid-October | 53,075 installs, +23,153 in 7 days (Google Play, 11-05) |
| The Choicer Voicer(THE FAIRY ARCHIVE WORKS) | Android, late August | 40,983 installs |
| The Voicer Choicer Judge | Android / iPhone | Android 38,576 installs, +10k in 7 days |
| DubOff | iPhone + web | 123 ratings, charting in 63 countries |
| Same-name DubTake (Paul Lefever) | iPhone, listed 8-19 | 14 ratings. It launched on iPhone a month earlier, but the domain was registered first by Wallace, so who's who is unclear |
| Web versions such as choicervoicer.games | Browser | Drives traffic through Twitch streamer clips |

There's also CapCut and TikTok's built-in voiceovers and voice changers, but none of them offer a dubbing flow with line-by-line prompts, alignment to the original audio, and background music preserved, or a clip library.

DubTake's absolute numbers aren't large, but it's one of the few with a local brand, a web version, and a creator revenue share. The English-language clone apps are bigger. DubTake has held on in Brazil because of its Portuguese interface, Portuguese-language scenes like Todo Mundo Odeia o Chris, Pix, and Brazilian creators. The fact that 95% of its iPhone ratings come from Brazil is the proof.

### If it were you

**One-line verdict:** Don't copy the product, but do copy the playbook. The Choicer Voicer wave has already peaked, English and Portuguese are both saturated, and the clip material carries copyright risk. What's worth taking is the reaction speed: "it blew up on PC, there's no mobile version, ship one within a week." Add to that a bet on a non-English market and a creator revenue share built into the product.

**Who it fits:** One or two people who can ship a web version plus both mobile platforms within a week. Someone whose native language hasn't been seriously served by this wave of apps (for large teen markets like Latin American Spanish, Turkish or Indonesian, first count how many apps are already in the store). Someone who knows or can find local mid-tier creators.

**Who it doesn't fit:** Anyone targeting the English market (several clone apps are adding 20k to 30k installs a week). Anyone counting on organic App Store traffic (an iPhone version with film clips may fail review). Anyone worried about copyright complaints (the material is all film and animation clips, and DubTake already has a DMCA takedown page).

**How to build it:** If you still want to catch this wave, prioritize the web version and add one Android build. Make the format compatible with community dub packs, and produce your own batch of popular local-language clips. Give the free tier enough to dub a whole scene, not one line. Almost all the one-star reviews are about "you can only dub one line." A better bet is the next wave: each day, look at TikTok for small games and mechanics with over 10 million views that exist only on PC or console. When "how to play it on your phone" searches and videos start appearing, launch within a week.

**How to acquire users:** Give local mid-tier creators dedicated links and a subscription revenue share. Run a tutorial account of your own posting "how to dub XX on your phone." Export vertical videos with a watermark, so every post is an ad.

**When to move:** The window on this wave is short. If you haven't launched by late November, skip it. DubTake's own account had already dropped to a few hundred views per post by late October. When the next wave arrives can't be predicted. What you can do is be ready to launch within a week.

**What would mean you're wrong:** (1) If after December, Choicer Voice Studio, The Voicer Choicer and similar apps keep growing installs and ratings every week, this isn't a passing fad but a lasting category worth serious work. (2) If DubTake or a similar app enters Brazil's top-grossing chart, the paywall really is collecting money, better than current estimates suggest. (3) Conversely, if there's a wave of copyright takedowns or store cleanups of clone apps, this path is closed.

## DubTake (ios_6804474893) research report

> One line: São Paulo indie dev Wallace Bezerra da Silva (sole-proprietor CNPJ 51.549.969/0001-57; also behind the Strino guitar-chord app, the SnapBlend filter app, 10-15's newly launched Mimic Party Brasil, and 5 other small apps in total) built a voice-dubbing app for movie, animation and meme clips, on web, iPhone and Android. When the PC mini-game *The Choicer Voicer*'s Dub Mode blew up on TikTok in 2026 August, he registered the domain a week after the peak. By pairing "plays in your phone or browser" with Portuguese and a ready-made scene library, he caught the Brazilian users who wanted to play but didn't have a PC.

### 1. Current data

| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| iOS release | 2026-09-21, version 1.3.7 (10-30 update) | iTunes lookup |
| iOS ratings | The library has 4 reviews in total across 107 countries, 7 days +35; 102 reviews in Brazil (+32); the iTunes US store page shows 74 reviews and a 4.46 rating (the library does not cover the US store) | App Store library 11-06; iTunes lookup 11-06 |
| iOS charts | Only charted in the Photo & Video free category, ranks 147–210 (Czechia, Jamaica, Finland, Brazil); never made the overall or Top Grossing charts | appstore library 11-06 |
| Android installs | 44,250 (10-29 is 30,186), 7 days +14,064 | googleplay library 11-05 |
| Android ratings | 1,712 → 2,416, +704 in a week (80–150 reviews per day); the store page shows a 4.4 rating, 2.53K reviews, and "10K+" installs | Google Play library; Play store page |
| Web | dubtake.com, dub directly in the browser; claims 700+ scenes, 18K lines, 21 languages | dubtake.com homepage |
| Pricing | Pro $4.99/month; annual iOS $49.99, Play $24.99; web accepts Pix payment; also sells scene packs | App Store / Play listing; privacy policy |

Android ratings rose 704 in a week while installs rose only 14k, a rating-to-install ratio of about 5.5%, well above typical apps. It looks like a rating prompt fired after the first dub (unverified). iOS volume is clearly smaller; the main base is Android and web.

### 2. Why it took off

#### 2.1 Timing: rode the Dub Mode wave of The Choicer Voicer

- *The Choicer Voicer* is a voice-dubbing parody game released on itch.io by indie developer YeahMaybe. **It only has Windows / Linux builds** , it is an early access alpha, and it has an old bug where the microphone fails to record. Once Dub Mode took off, the developer wrote on the page: "99% of search results for The Choicer Voicer are vibe-coded AI junk and scams" (itch.io page).

- On TikTok it blew up in early August: jetpacklouie's "Toy Story on Choicer Voicer" 8-06 posted, 15.4M views and 2.09M likes; luci_suckzclipz 8-07 posted, 9.66M views; mrcurrys 6 8-16 posted, 8.91M views; Vinny (Vinesauce) 8-21 posted, 1.12M views (TikHub search).

- Demand in the Portuguese and Spanish speaking world was direct: dilizinho's "How to Play That Dubbing Game on Your Phone" was posted 8-14 with 1.42M views; voice actor gustavomachadog (3.83M followers) also posted one 8-11 (TikHub). One iOS user's review said it best: "Found out the dubbing game only works on PC..." (review of Paul Lefever's version of DubTake on the App Store, 8-24).

- DubTake's timeline: dubtake.com was **registered 2026-08-12** (Verisign RDAP), less than a week after jetpacklouie's viral video; **8-15** the TikTok account @dubtakers posted its first video, captioned "DubTake choicer voicer web app"; it launched on Android in September and **9-21** on iOS.

- Its terms state directly: "We support dub packs made by the community in that format," and disclaim any link to The Choicer Voicer / YeahMaybe (dubtake.com/termos). In short, it is a phone and web player plus recording studio for Choicer Voicer content format.

#### 2.2 Acquisition: creators, affiliate revenue share, owned accounts, paid ads

1. **Top Brazilian creators** : the official site's "creators" page lists Brino (11.2M TikTok followers, named "creator of the year" 2025), Noy Margi, Yacuzzi al Cuadrado (Spanish), Bruno Wagner and 12 others. Brino posted two #dublagem videos 8-21 and 8-22 with 428k and 151k views respectively; DubTake's own Instagram posted a reel 8-21 with #brino #choicervoicer tags. Brino's captions don't mention DubTake, so whether he used its tool is not fully confirmed.

2. **Small dubbing accounts keep posting** : brunowagnerdub (16k followers) has been posting fandubs of "Digital Circus" and "Superbad" since 8-19, captioned "App: Dubtake", 60k–115k views per video; dublcoisas (64k followers) posted "Rick and Morty" 10-29; Turkey's beggecuk 11-05 posted videos with a dedicated link dubtake.com/c/beggecuk (TikHub).

3. **Affiliate program (Become an influencer)** : dubtake.com/parceiros is the partner dashboard, where "your account has your partner code and you can see your sales and commissions." The privacy policy says the app asks on first open "where did you hear about us / creator code"; on Android it reads the Play install source ("ad link or partner creator link"), **so subscriptions are credited to the referring creator** . Creators earn a share of subscriptions; this is its main distribution mechanism.

4. **Owned tutorial account** : @dubtakers (bio "App para dublagem", 4,436 followers, 108k likes) posts tutorials like "How to dub Toy Story on your phone"; one 8-29 has 510k views, another 10-01 has 310k; the official account @dubtake_app has only 466 followers.

5. **Paid ads** : the privacy policy says the site runs the Meta pixel, TikTok pixel and Google Ads tag, sends purchase amounts back to Meta / TikTok / Google, and stores the TikTok ad click ID (ttclid); there are win-back emails for abandoned checkouts. This indicates it runs conversion ads on Meta / TikTok / Google. Our ad library does not track it, and specific creatives and spend are **unverified** .

6. **Store search** : Play links carry natural search parameters like `utm_term=dubtake app dublagem`, and the Portuguese keyword "dublagem" drives organic traffic (Play links in Jina search results).

#### 2.3 Why people pay

- Hard paywall: free use covers only the first line (or a passage), then a subscription prompt appears. In the recent 10 reviews from the Brazil iOS store, 6 are one-star, nearly all saying "Tem que pagar pra dublar" (you have to pay to dub); the US store also has "Scamming!" and "can you not make that 499 a month" (App Store RSS). Users are mainly kids and teens (one five-star review says "my son loves it").

- What you pay for: unlimited dubbing, no watermark, all voice effects, scene packs (e.g. the Toy Story bundle). The Brazilian web checkout accepts Pix, no credit card needed, which matters a lot for Brazilian teens.

- No sign of Top Grossing performance; conversion and retention are **unknown** .

### 3. Competitors

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale | How DubTake differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Choicer Voicer(YeahMaybe) | Others (itch.io PC game) | Before 2026 summer (alpha 0.5.x) | Source of tens-of-millions views on TikTok | The original is a paid PC download, and players source the packs themselves; DubTake brings it to phone and browser and adds a ready-made scene library |
| The Voicer Choicer(Aitor Barbany) | iOS | 2026-10-28 | 9 days, 807 ratings, about 7 days +805, #6 in the US Games category, charted in 76 countries | Name borrowed directly from the original, listed in the Games category, targeting the English market; in one week its volume was more than 7 times the total iOS ratings of DubTake |
| Choicer Voice Studio(Nextha Code) | Android | About 2026-10 mid (25 days after launch) | 53,075 installs, +23,153 in 7 days | Already rising faster than DubTake on Android; a name-riding play |
| The Choicer Voicer(THE FAIRY ARCHIVE WORKS) | Android | About 2026-08 late | 40,983 installs | A name-riding wrapper |
| The Voicer Choicer Judge(MindBlows / Sivan Gants) | Android / iOS | 2026-08-27(iOS) | Play 38,576 installs, +10k in 7 days; iOS 188 ratings | Built around a judging mechanic, not a full dubbing studio |
| DubOff(100 Ideaz) | iOS + web dub-off.com | 2026-09-30 (domain registered 08-18) | 123 ratings, charting in 63 countries | Can also download community dub packs; English market; Games category |
| DubTake(Paul Lefever,6800536425) | iOS | 2026-08-19 | 14 ratings, 3.86 stars | Same name, English, one-time Dub Pass fee; its iOS launch came a month before Wallace's version, but dubtake.com was registered by Wallace 08-12, so who copied whom is unclear, and it can't simply be called a knockoff |
| choicervoicer.games / voicer.jstrand.net | Web | 2026-08 | Streamers on TikTok drive traffic to it (voicer.jstrand.net appeared in a Twitch clip with 2M views) | Pure web dub pack player; beyond the web, DubTake also has an app, a community leaderboard and an affiliate system |
| Dub'Up(Benjamin Chatel) | iOS | 2026-09-30 | 9 ratings | Focused on dubbing with friends, very small volume |
| CapCut / TikTok built-in dubbing and voice changers | Big-company features | Already around | Massive | Can record voice-over and add voice effects, but has no studio workflow with line-by-line prompts, waveform alignment to the original, or background music preservation, and no ready-made film clips |

Bottom line: after August the category filled with apps riding the Choicer Voicer name. DubTake's absolute volume is not large (44k on Android, smaller than several name-riding apps like Choice Voice Studio), but it is one of the few with a **localized brand, a web version and a creator revenue share** .

### 4. Differentiation

- **Portuguese first, localized for Brazil** : interface, site, support (contato@), LGPD privacy policy, Pix payment, Brazilian creators, plus lots of PT-BR scenes ("Todo Mundo Odeia o Chris", the Portuguese-dub "Peppa Pig", and Toy Story's "Você é um brinquedo"). The English name-riding apps mostly skip all of this. Its iOS rating share of 95% from Brazil also confirms it.

- **Three platforms, one product:** the web version is "100% in the browser, nothing to install", friendly to iPhone users and teens without a computer; export 9:16 vertical video, post straight to TikTok / Reels.

- **Engineering the fun:** local vocal/backing-track separation, sentence-by-sentence prompts, two waveforms overlaid for comparison, a "voice actor score" from 0 to 100, daily streaks and badges, per-scene leaderboards and weekly challenges. These game mechanics keep the fun of Choicer Voicer's "judges' scores" intact.

- **Distribution design:** creator-exclusive links + subscription revenue share + install-source attribution, so influencers keep pushing it to their audiences. This is what the name-riding clones are missing most.

**Is that why it took off?** Partly. The demand and traffic came from the Choicer Voicer craze (timing). Among the many apps chasing the same wave, it held its ground in Brazil thanks to Portuguese localization, creator revenue share, and the web version. But by volume, the English-market name-riders The Voicer Choicer and Choicer Voice Studio both do more per week, so the "differentiation" is better read as what kept it alive in Brazil's niche, not what made it the category leader.

### 5. Visibility and copycats

- No media coverage; x-radar searches for "dubtake" and "choicer voicer" each returned 0 results over the past 90 days; no public revenue, not listed on TrustMRR, and the founder hasn't posted any numbers.

- The heat comes from the category: Choicer Voicer itself has tens of millions of views on TikTok, and more than a dozen similar apps already exist. Directly copying it: DubTake (Paul Lefever), with the same name, but it launched earlier, so whether it's copying is unclear.

- Verdict: **it's circulating in small circles** (the Brazilian TikTok dubbing crowd knows it; almost nobody outside has written about it).

### 6. What others can learn

1. When you see a hit PC/console mini-game or mechanic (especially Windows-only, with no mobile version), ship a web version and a mobile version within a week to catch the search traffic for "how to play it on my phone".

2. Target one large non-English market (Brazil) and fully localize: local payments (Pix), local creators, a locally-language content library. This avoids the red ocean of name-riding apps in English markets.

3. Build the creator revenue share into the product: exclusive links + creator code prompt on first open + Android install-source attribution, with commissions calculated on subscriptions.

4. Take payments on the web (Pix) to bypass the 30% store cut, while running Meta / TikTok conversion ads and sending abandoned-payment recovery emails.

### 7. Still unclear

- Conversion rate, retention, real revenue (no Top Grossing signal).

- How much it spends on ads: the pixel is installed, but the ad libraries don't track it.

- Whether Brino's two #dublagem videos are paid promotions, and whether they were recorded with DubTake.

- The iOS description only says "import video from camera roll" and doesn't mention ready-made scenes. This may be App Store copyright review blocking the scene library (unverified), which could also explain slow iOS growth.

- Scene material is user-uploaded film clips, with high copyright risk (the official site has a DMCA takedown page). Also open: whether it can keep users once the craze fades.

- In the library, the iOS overall rating dropped from 130 to 96 around 11-03. This is likely a statistical artifact from changes in the number of charting countries, not a real decline.
