# A woodworking influencer turned their tutorials into an app: MuebleMIO, for Spanish-speaking Latin America, generating wardrobe plans and cut lists

**What it is** A board-furniture tool for Latin American Spanish-speaking DIYers and custom carpenters: pick a wardrobe or cabinet template, change the dimensions, and it automatically produces a cut list, edge banding, hardware, a layout diagram, and a quote.

**Why it took off** The developer is himself a Spanish-speaking woodworking TikToker with 219k followers. Every "how to calculate a wardrobe cut list" video is a product demo, and viewers turn directly into users.

**B** **How you could ride it** In another language (e.g., Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Indonesian), film your own content or split revenue with a local woodworking creator, and build a web-plus-app with "templates + resizing + automatic cut lists + quotes", selling weekly subscriptions on a "one job pays it back" pitch.

Grade B: no one in most languages is yet selling a craftsman's plan-and-cut tool while making tutorials, so the opportunity is real. But its growth runs on the founder's own audience, which followers can't copy, and revenue is undisclosed. It only pays off if you already have a content channel. Circulating in small circles

Alexander Hurtado (appears to be in Colombia) spent a year on TikTok teaching "don't pay a carpenter, build your own melamine wardrobe." He built up 219k followers, then turned the hardest step in his videos, drawing plans and calculating cuts, into a web tool and an app. The Android version has had nearly 19k installs in just over two months, and the iOS version didn't launch until Oct 18. He hasn't spent money on paid acquisition; his users are his audience. Below: what it is, how users come, how money is collected, and where you could ride along.

### A video with 960k views

In Oct 4 2026, the TikTok account @elcarpinteroperfecto posted a video titled "Como hacer un plano de closet sin tener experiencia ni utilizar sketchup" (how to draw a wardrobe plan with no experience and without SketchUp). As of 11-06, the video had 956k views and 647 comments.

The comments were lively. The two most-liked were carpenters complaining: "The video opens by saying carpenters only know how to turn three screws, that's disrespectful to the trade" (483 likes), and "I'm not a carpenter, but there's no need to insult people who've done this work for years" (385 likes). Further down were people who genuinely wanted to try it themselves: "Who cuts the boards?" "Where do you even get them cut?" "The cabinet someone built for me came out crooked, so I decided to do it myself, but I don't know where to cut the boards" "I had Home Depot cut my boards, and the small cabinet came out fine." Further still, dozens of comments were identical, just a few words: "mueble mio."

That last row is the account's business: the tool in the video is called MuebleMIO, viewers typed its name in the comments, presumably because the video told them to, or the developer replied with a link or boosted the post. Two weeks later, one comment spelled it out: "Why didn't you say this app costs money?" Another, with 11-04 likes: "Watch out, what they don't tell you is that using all the features costs $10 a month."

### What it is

In Latin America, wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, and shoe racks are mostly built from melamine-faced board (melamina). The process: work out which panels you need and their sizes, take the cut list to a hardware store or board supplier to have them cut and edge-banded, then assemble at home. The hard part is the first half: drawing plans, breaking down panels (despiece), and layout. Before, you had to learn SketchUp and install plugins, do the math by hand or in Excel, or buy desktop software for factories like Polyboard or Promob.

MuebleMIO packages that step as "pick a template, change the dimensions." The catalog has ready-made wardrobes, cabinets, drawer units, shoe racks, and bookshelves. Change the width, height, depth, panel thickness, or drawer count, and the whole model updates, automatically producing a panel list, edge-banding lengths, hardware counts, a layout diagram, and a PDF quote. The App Store listing says "no manual math, no spreadsheets," and adds: "Every design's structure is already correct, so you can use it without knowing how to design."

The main product is actually the web app mueblemio.com, plus a 3D editor, inventory, installation diagrams, and shareable links for clients, and you can import SketchUp files. The Android app launched in Aug 30, the iOS app in Oct 18, and all three entry points use the same account.

### How big it is

| | Metric | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| Android cumulative installs | 18,899, +3,435 in the last 7 days | Google Play,11-06 |
| Android daily installs | A few hundred a day, with no spike-driven chart run | Estimated from third-party install curves |
| iOS ratings | Global 17, 10-28 or 8; Colombia 9 | App Store,11-06 |
| iOS charts | Top Grossing #16 in Graphics & Design in Guatemala; Top Free #40 in the same category in Colombia and Ecuador | App Store,11-06 |
| TikTok | 219,291 followers, 890k likes, 345 videos | TikTok profile, 11-06 |

Don't trust the iOS charts: in small countries the design category bar is low, and a few subscriptions can get you onto the chart. The real market is on the web and Android. Revenue is undisclosed and can't be inferred from the charts.

The official homepage shows "4.5 · 1294 reviews", with reviews displayed as "buenisoma", "1", "dgasf", ".", all dated 11-06. These clearly aren't store ratings; they're presumably in-app prompt responses published directly on the site.

### Where users come from: the audience is the user

**Content first, tool second.** The account has been promoting mueblemio.com since September 2025. The 119 videos sampled total roughly 15M views, and 38 of them directly mention Mueblemio. The top ones:

- "No pagues demás, mejor hazlo tú mismo" (don't overpay, do it yourself), 1.66M views, 2026-05-09

- "How to break down cut lists for kitchen wall cabinets", 1.15M, 07-03

- "How to draw a wardrobe plan with no experience and without SketchUp", 960k, 10-04

- "Don't let anyone tell you building melamine furniture is hard; with MUEBLEMIO……", 390k, 09-02

The most-viewed videos all address the same thing: how to calculate a cut list. That's the pain point, and the video itself is the product demo.

**"Don't hire a carpenter" is the hook, and the bait. Titles always side with DIY, carpenters jump into the comments to fight, and the fiercer the fight, the more it gets shared.** 11-04 That post's title was "I'm not paying a carpenter who only knows a hammer, I'm building it myself with Mueblemio.com".

**Riding someone else's hit.** 10-25 He used a hit wardrobe from another woodworking account to demonstrate how to break down drawings and dimensions in Mueblemio. That one drew 176k views. Pure feature tutorials from the same period (how to adjust baseboard parameters, how to build doors) mostly got only a few thousand views: teaching features didn't draw crowds, but "how to build that viral cabinet" did.

**Comparing against SketchUp.** Several video titles are literally "SketchUp vs Mueble Mio," and the tags often include #sketchup, reaching people searching for SketchUp tutorials.

**A landing page for each furniture type.** The website has a series of landing pages by furniture type (/planos/closets, /planos/tv, /planos/comodas, and so on). Searches for "planos de melamina" and "programa para diseñar muebles de melamina despiece" put it at the top (third-party search API results, not actual Google rankings).

**Mirrored on other platforms.** Instagram @alexanderjhg has about 140k followers, and the YouTube channel "Carpintero Perfecto" has 12.3k subscribers, with Mueblemio tutorials on both.

Paid ads: searches by name and domain in the Meta ad library turned up nothing, so it's presumably barely buying ads. The month iOS launched, he posted 31 videos, 3 times his usual rate.

### How it makes money

The headline on the pricing page reads "Un solo proyecto ya paga tu semana" (one job already pays for your week).

| Tier | Pricing | Item |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Basic template library, up to 30 panels per layout, with ads |
| PRO weekly | $3.99 / week | All templates, 3D build, unlimited layouts, PDF quotes, inventory, install drawings |
| PRO monthly | $9.99 / month | Same as above |

Weekly billed monthly comes to $15.96, 60% more than the monthly plan, tagged "limited-time offer" in the featured spot. This is priced for working carpenters: one wardrobe job pays far more than a week of subscription.

There's a small line under the pricing that's worth noticing: "Can't pay by card? Turn on PRO in the app. Same account, works on web, Android and iPhone." In Latin America, many people have no credit card they can use online, and app store billing can go through phone credit, local wallets or gift cards. **The app is not just another entry point here, it's the checkout for people who can't pay by card** (inferred).

### Who it's competing with

| Competitors | What it is | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| SketchUp + plugins like OpenCutList | The de facto standard among Latin American carpenters | General modeling: you draw everything yourself and split the panels by hand, steep learning curve |
| Polyboard / Promob / Pro100 | Professional panel furniture CAD | Desktop software, expensive, built for factories and CNC |
| Moblo | DIY 3D modeling + AR, 287 ratings on the iOS Mexico store | No panel template library, cut lists aren't the focus |
| CutList Optimizer | Layout optimization, 91 on the iOS Turkey store and 60 ratings on Argentina | You enter panels manually, nothing is generated from furniture templates |
| optimizadordecorte.app | Spanish-language layout + 3D configurator, Premium from $8/month | Closest feature set, but nobody makes videos for it |
| Tools from panel makers like Masisa and Arauco | Free layout tool, tied to ordering cut panels | No design features |
| flatma, cutplan.ai | European web-based furniture design + layout | Spanish is a translated version, no Latin American community |

The features aren't hard to copy, and optimizadordecorte.app already does much of the same. What's hard to replicate is distribution: 219k people watching him build cabinets are exactly the users it needs. I haven't seen anyone build a Spanish-language melamine template App with creator-driven traffic. Searching X for mueblemio turns up nothing in the last 90 days, and no media coverage. Only the Spanish-speaking woodworking community knows it.

### If it were you

**B. The opportunity is real: a "figure it out and cut it" tool for craftspeople, which in most languages outside Spanish nobody is selling while making tutorials. But the engine here is the founder's own 219k followers, which you can't copy; revenue isn't public, so whether the scale is really small is unknown.**

**Who it suits** : people who already make content inside a craft community, or developers who can split revenue with a creator like that. Best in a market where panel furniture or home DIY is common but SketchUp's learning curve is a pain: Brazilian Portuguese (móveis planejados, plano de corte MDF), Turkish, Indonesian, Vietnamese. Check TikTok first for similar creators.

**Who it doesn't suit** : developers who only write code and plan to rely on organic App Store traffic or SEO. Few people search for this category in the store, and MuebleMIO's iOS version had only 17 ratings three weeks after launch. It's also a bad fit for head-on Spanish competition, since his content is the moat.

**How to build it** : skip general 3D modeling. Build only "template library + resize + automatic cut list + layout + PDF quote". Start with the five or six most common local pieces (wardrobes, kitchen wall units, shoe cabinets, TV stands, desks), with panel thickness, edge banding and hardware matched to local panel makers and hardware shops. Launch on web first, then Android and iOS, with one account and one subscription, and use the app as the checkout. Copy his pricing: a free tier that limits layout pieces, weekly billing for working carpenters, and a headline like "pays for itself on one job".

**How to acquire users** : each video covers one specific furniture piece and how to split its panels. Titles take the DIY side and ideally start arguments between pros. Use other people's viral cabinets to show how the drawings get made. Use "vs SketchUp" comparison clips to capture tutorial traffic. One landing page per template to catch long-tail search. If you don't have your own account, find a local carpenter or renovation creator with 5–200k followers and offer a revenue split.

**Deadline** : this business has no seasonal window. The hard part is that nobody has claimed your language yet. Aim to get your first paying users in one market by March of year 2027. If you're still at zero after six months, the market lacks creators, not tools.

**Signs you've misjudged it** : ① MuebleMIO's Android daily installs drop from hundreds to under a couple hundred while the founder keeps updating, meaning the audience has been tapped out and the tool itself doesn't retain people; ② someone runs paid ads for a similar product in the Spanish-speaking market and sustains them, meaning paid acquisition works here, the barrier is lower than you thought, and competition will move fast; ③ a panel maker (Masisa, Arauco, or the equivalent in your target market) releases a free "template to cut list" tool, making a paid subscription hard to sell alone; ④ the reverse: you search TikTok in your target language and find a carpentry creator already promoting their own drawing tool in videos. That spot is taken, so switch languages or switch crafts.

### One line

A melamine panel furniture design tool for Spanish-speaking Latin America: pick a wardrobe, kitchen unit or shoe cabinet from a parametric template library, resize it, and automatically get a cut list (despiece), edge banding, hardware, layout optimization and a PDF quote. Developer Alexander Hurtado is himself the Spanish-language woodworking DIY creator "El Carpintero Perfecto". The iOS version is just the third entry point to a product that already exists on the web and Android.

### Verdict

**It gains traction thanks to the founder's built-in audience: a woodworking DIY TikTok account with 219k followers that has long posted videos like "don't pay a carpenter, build your own wardrobe", and drives viewers to his own tool.** The product fills a gap: Spanish-speaking DIYers and small workshops who want to draw and cost out furniture currently have to use SketchUp with plugins or desktop pro software like Polyboard/Promob, which are hard to learn and expensive. MuebleMIO packages "standard panel furniture templates + parametric + cut lists" as a web and phone app, and the founder's videos serve as the tutorials. The iOS numbers are small (17 ratings worldwide), the real pool is on web and Android.

### 1. Data: how big is it, really

- **iOS** (appstore library, iTunes lookup): listed in 2026-10-18, version 1.0.10 (10-23). Ratings across countries total 17, 10-28 at the time was 8, with 10 added over 9 days. Colombia accounts for 9, with the rest in Ecuador, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile and Mexico. Its chart positions are all in small markets' Graphics & Design category: #16 Top Grossing in Guatemala, #47 Top Grossing in Oman, #40 Top Free in Colombia and Ecuador. The chart bar in these countries is very low for this category, a few subscriptions can get you on, so **this can't be taken as evidence of revenue scale** .

- **Android is the main market** (Google Play library): package com.mueblemio.mueblemio, developer Alexanderjhg, launched 2026-08-30. **Cumulative global installs 18,899 (11-06), +3,435 over the last 7 days.** The AppstoreSpy estimated curve: 09-15 hit 2,161,10-13 past 10k, 10-27 is 15,463, steadily around 300–600 a day, with no spike-and-crash pattern. On the day, it ranked #25 on the Mexico HOUSE_AND_HOME Top Free chart and #64 in Argentina. In more than a dozen stores it sits at #71–73 on the same category's Top Grossing chart, with almost identical ranks. That's stores sharing one aggregated chart, so don't take it at face value. In-app purchases run $7.99–$19.99.

- **Web** : mueblemio.com is the main product, with a 3D editor, parametric components, layout optimization, inventory, install drawings, shareable links for clients, and SketchUp import. The founder has promoted mueblemio.com on TikTok since 2025-09 (the earliest video we caught with #mueblemio is from 2025-09-03). The data card says "web version since 2024", which is **unverified** . The domain shows records in Wayback going back 2015 years, which may mean it was someone else's domain earlier. Also unverified.

- **Pricing** (site /pricing): free tier has ads, up to 30 boards per layout; PRO is $3.99/week or $9.99/month, and one account works on web and the app. The site's pitch is "one job pays for it," aimed squarely at carpenters who take jobs for money.

### 2. Where users come from: growth channels

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| The founder's own TikTok creator account | @elcarpinteroperfecto (display name "el carpintero perfecto tips"), **219,291 followers, 890k likes, 345 posts** . The profile links to mueblemio.com/contacto (TikHub, 11-06). Of the 119 posts we pulled, running from 2025-09 to 2026-11 and adding up to roughly 15M views, 38 mention Mueblemio directly. October had 31 posts, 3× the usual rate, timed with the iOS launch. | Yes |
| Same person on Instagram / Facebook / YouTube / Threads | Instagram @alexanderjhg, about 140k followers, bio says Carpenter, tags #mueblemio #carpinteroperfecto (from search snippets). YouTube "Carpintero Perfecto" has 12.3k subscribers and 176 videos, including "Como USAR MUEBLEMIO…" tutorial (about 9.3K views). Facebook "Jesus Hurtado" posts the same content. LinkedIn: "creador de contenido, desarrollador independiente · Mueblemio.com · Sin Universidad." | Yes |
| Partnering with other carpentry creators or riding their viral posts | 10-25's "Closet de melamina súper viral, te enseño a sacar el plano" got 175k views. The original video was a viral post from another carpentry account, @fabiocesardurandna, and the founder used it to demo generating drawings in Mueblemio. | Yes |
| "SketchUp comparison" content | Several videos such as "SketchUp vs Mueble Mio: Sacar Despiece de Muebles" position the product as a simpler alternative to SketchUp, capturing search traffic from SketchUp tutorials. | Yes |
| SEO | Searches on Google and Jina for "planos de melamina" and "programa para diseñar muebles de melamina despiece" put mueblemio.com at #1. The site has many landing pages by furniture type (/planos/closets, /planos/tv, /planos/comodas…), one URL per template. | Yes (ranking comes from a search API and is not Google's actual ranking) |
| Moving existing web users to the app | Site banner: "¡La app de MuebleMio ya está en iPhone y Android!" with one account across both. iOS ratings are concentrated in Colombia (the founder appears to be in Colombia, judging by the co.linkedin URL). | Yes |
| Paid ads | Searches of the metaads library by name, domain, and App ID found no advertiser. The library only tracks products on its list, so no result doesn't mean no ads. | Not found |
| Prompted reviews | The homepage shows "4.5 · 1294 reviews", and the reviews displayed include "buenisoma", "1", "dgasf", ".", "MSN", ",vjjjjjjjj", all dated 2026-11-06. This looks like in-app prompt ratings displayed directly. The App Store actually shows only 17 ratings, so 1294 is an internal site count, not store data. | Partly (source of on-site ratings not verified) |

### 3. Competitors

| Competitors | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from MuebleMIO |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SketchUp (+ OpenCutList / CutList plugin) | Desktop, web | Since 2000 | The de facto standard among Latin American carpenters | General 3D modeling: you draw and split boards yourself, with a steep learning curve. MuebleMIO offers ready-made parametric furniture templates: change dimensions and you get the cut list. The founder's content explicitly uses SketchUp as the comparison. |
| Polyboard / Promob / Pro100 | Desktop | Years | Professional panel-furniture CAD, CNC integration | Expensive and aimed at factories. MuebleMIO is $3.99/week and works on a phone, aimed at DIY and independent carpenters. |
| Moblo - Diseño de muebles 3D | iOS/Android/Windows | iOS 2021-02 | 287 ratings on the Mexico store, dozens across Latin American countries (appstore library) | General DIY 3D modeling plus AR, with no board-material template library. Cut lists and layout are not the core. |
| CutList Optimizer - Despiece | iOS | 2023-09 | 91 on the Turkey store, 60 ratings on Argentina (appstore library) | Layout optimization only: you enter the panels yourself. MuebleMIO generates the panel list automatically from furniture templates. |
| optimizadordecorte.app | Web | Not verified (2026-06 articles) | Free; Premium from $8/month | Spanish-language layout optimization, and also has "3D configurator + automatic cut list from furniture dimensions." Closest in features, but no creator-driven distribution. |
| Masisa Optimiza, Arauco Optimizador | Web (run by board manufacturers) | Years | Free tools from board makers, tied to placing cutting orders | Only layout and ordering, no design. MuebleMIO generates the cut list, which you then take to these places to get cut. |
| flatma.com, cutplan.ai | Web | Not verified | Free 3D furniture design plus cut list / layout | European origin, Spanish is a translation, no Latin American carpentry community. |
| IKEA PAX / building-supplier planners | Big-company features | Years | Big | Only configures the store's own finished cabinets, and can't produce drawings for cutting your own boards. |

No copycats spotted: no newly appeared Spanish-language parametric melamine-template app with creator-driven traffic.

### 4. Why it charted

1. **Distribution is owned** : the founder spent about a year making carpentry DIY content (TikTok 219k, IG 140k) around the idea of "skip the carpenter, design and build your own wardrobe." The tool is a natural extension of that content, so acquisition costs are close to zero (TikHub profile data, post views).

2. **The need is real and narrow** : in Latin America, melamine panel furniture is the mainstream method, and DIYers and independent carpenters take cut lists to hardware stores to get boards cut. Designing and calculating materials used to require SketchUp, or manual math and Excel. The top videos are all about "how to calculate the cut list for a wardrobe / upper cabinets" (1.15M, 960k views), which shows where the pain is.

3. **The product shape fits the pain** : parametric templates plus cut lists plus layout plus PDF quotes. For independent carpenters, that's a quoting tool, and the "pays for itself in one job" pitch makes $3.99/week sellable.

4. **Android first, iOS follows** : Android launched with 08-30, hit 19K installs in just over two months, and adds a few hundred a day with steady growth. Looks like content-driven traffic, not paid acquisition. iOS 10-18 went live and immediately charted in several small-country category charts. That's a low bar on those charts, not a sign of a breakout.

### 5. Differentiation, and whether that's why it took off

The product difference is "ready-made parametric panel furniture templates in Spanish + automatic cut lists + phone access + low subscription price." Competitors are either general modeling (SketchUp, Moblo), layout-only (CutList Optimizer, board-maker tools), or expensive desktop CAD (Polyboard). The difference is real but not hard to copy, since optimizadordecorte.app already has a similar configurator. **What actually made it take off is that the founder already had an audience** : 219k carpentry DIY followers are the target users themselves, and every tutorial doubles as content and ad. The product difference drives retention and payment; the distribution is what brought users in.

### 6. Visibility

Few people know about it yet. Searching mueblemio in the X corpus returns 90 posts in the last 0 days. No media coverage found, and no public revenue (no TrustMRR listing, no founder revenue posts). It's known only within the Spanish-speaking carpentry circles on TikTok and IG.

### 7. What others can learn

- "Creator builds the tool": first build an audience with a tutorial channel in a vertical niche, then turn the repetitive manual steps in those tutorials (calculating materials, drawing layouts) into a tool, demoed in the videos.

- One SEO landing page per template (/planos/<type>), capturing long-tail searches like "planos de closet de melamina."

- Using "vs SketchUp" to capture tutorial traffic from general-purpose tools.

- Web first, then Android and iOS, with one account and one subscription across them. App stores serve as an extra entry point, using the low bar of small-country category charts for some exposure.
