# 698 of 708 push-ups were his: a German's push-up app that topped the Georgia overall chart with "national wars"

**What it is** An iPhone game where you put your phone on the floor, count push-ups with the camera, and every rep attacks a monster. Each push-up also counts toward your country's points. It's subscription-based.

**Why it took off** Starting Oct 22, the official TikTok began serializing real in-app country rankings as battle reports. Each post named a country and opened with a line in the local language, sparking national pride in small countries like Georgia and Albania. Small-country leaderboards have a low bar, so a dozen ratings could put you on top, and that top spot became the next video.

**B** **How you could follow it** Stop building yet another push-up battle app. Instead, add "country / city / school" group points to your own counting product, and have an official account post daily storylines picked from real rankings, targeting small countries where the leaderboard is easy to climb.

Grade B: the playbook is clear, nearly zero cost, and few people know about it. But push-up battle apps are already a red ocean, Repborne has only a few thousand users with invisible revenue, and most of the momentum came from low-purchasing-power small countries. Whether it can turn into money and whether it can last are still unproven. Circulating in small circles

Repborne is an iPhone game where you count push-ups with the camera and every rep attacks a monster. It's been on the store for a month and has just over a hundred ratings worldwide. At least two or three dozen people have built this kind of mechanic over the past 2026 years, so the game itself isn't special. What's special is that it built "countries" into the leaderboard, then had an official TikTok broadcast daily, like sports commentary, which country stole the crown. In November 6, it was #1 on Georgia's App Store free overall chart. The playbook is what's worth learning here, not the product.

### One person carrying a whole country

Early November 6, Repborne's official TikTok posted a video opening with a Greek line: "Ela, Kýpros!" (Come on, Cyprus!). The caption read: "Cyprus has 2 players and 708 push-ups, 698 of which come from one person. He's carrying the entire country alone and asked us to help him find more Cypriots."

The same day, the account posted a dozen or so videos with the same structure, each naming a country and opening in its local language: "Ajmo Hrvatska!": Croatia ranked #18 worldwide, ahead of Australia, Canada, Russia, Brazil, the US, and China. "Forza Azzurri!": Italy climbed from #18 to #15 in a single day. "Hello, America? This is your wake-up call": the US ranked #71 with only 242 push-ups, while Georgia, with a population under 4M, ranked #1 with 83,279.

These numbers are tiny. The US having 242 push-ups means only a handful of people in the US store play at all. But they're real, live national rankings from inside the app, written up as a world war.

### What it is

You put the phone on the floor, the front camera recognizes push-ups locally on the device, and every rep makes the on-screen hero strike. There's a 60-second 1v1 ranked mode, 15 rank tiers, 5 world 105 levels, 6 daily modes, a season pass and skins. No ads, no tracking.

Only one thing sets it apart from similar apps: **every push-up you do is also added to your country's season total** . The app has a world map and a "war room" that shows in real time who your country is ahead of or behind, and how many more you need to pass the next one today.

The free version allows only 1 ranked matches per day. Premium in the German store has two tiers, €5.99 and €29.99 (from the German in-app purchase list, 11-06, presumably monthly and yearly subscriptions). Since version 3 in November 2.0.2, the yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial. The paid unlocks are also tied to country: the home national-team skin, the war room, and eligibility for the "national elite leaderboard."

The developer, Wayil Ziane, has only this one app under the App Store account, and the privacy policy lists a German mail-forwarding address. Inferred to be an individual developer in Germany, with German as the original language (the German store name is "Liegestütz-Duelle," meaning push-up duels). Launched in October 5, shipped 11 versions in a month, added support for 15 languages starting October 21, and released an Android version at the end of October.

### Push-up battle apps are already crowded

To be clear: Repborne isn't the first, and it isn't the biggest.

| Peers | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Pushup RPG: Fitness Quest | Google Play 172k installs, 11k new in 7 days (11-06); iOS launched in June | Same push-up-monster + 1v1 concept, launched more than three months earlier, an order of magnitude bigger |
| Push Up Boss | Google Play 65k installs | Completely free, no sign-up required, 16 bosses + online ranked play |
| RepChamp: Fitness Duel | Single TikTok videos with 2.98M views | Pure 1v1, the videos show the duel itself |
| Push Up Arena | A single TikTok with 1.63M views; 118 ratings in the Israeli store | Battle + bosses |
| PUPG, pushoff, RepStrike, Push Duel, PushWar, Rep Battle, Clash of Pushups, and others | Most have under a dozen ratings | Counting + battles / ranked play / RPG, all pretty similar |

Nearly all of them got their traction from TikTok, and the content is nearly identical: two people on the floor seeing who can do more. Repborne started out the same way.

### Starting in October 22, it changed its pitch

The official account @repborne1 posted 54 videos through November 6, with 3,482 followers, 74k likes, and roughly 1.75M total views (TikTok, 11-06). It falls into two phases.

**October 9 to 21, generic motivation.** "One push-up, then one more" (10-14.2M views), "Training alone: 'I can't anymore'; with friends: 'one more'" (10-15.2M). The views were decent, but dozens of similar accounts were posting the same kind of video, and viewers couldn't tell which app it was for.

**Starting October 22, national war reports.** The day before, the app had just launched "national wars," and the videos became: "'Just 10 more push-ups' might be the difference between second and first... leave your flag" (80k). After that, almost every video was leaderboard news: "The UK took the crown and Germany took it personally" (11-185k), "Albania just hit #2 in the world" (11-4.21M), "Georgia #8 → #5 → #4 → #2" (11-4.17M), "Georgia did 100k push-ups in under 10 days, going from #21 to #1" (11-06).

This is the real reason the app took off: **the product generates the plot, and the account narrates it** . The rankings change every day, so there's always a next episode. Each video names a country and opens in its language, and the comments turn into a place for people to post their flags. That amounts to dozens of localized pieces of content for dozens of countries, made for free.

### Why Georgia

National wars don't do much for big countries: Americans won't start doing push-ups because the US is #71. They work well for small countries, for two reasons.

First, small countries have few people, so each person counts. The Cypriot player carrying an entire country alone was one example; players in Albania, Kosovo, and Montenegro were the same, and every rep they did was visible.

Second, small-country App Store charts have a very low bar. In November 6 in the Georgian store, it had only 15 ratings and still reached #1 on the free overall chart, ahead of Google Gemini (appfigures, appwinners.eu, 11-06). Once it was on the chart, the store homepage brought in the next wave of local users, and "we're #1 in our country" became material for the next video.

Georgian users started posting on their own, too. In November 4, a Georgian account posted in Georgian, "It's this app, let's go, brothers," with about 30k views; the next day another posted "Georgia is #2!" The official account's several Georgia videos (69k, 175k, and 41k views) landed in the same stretch as Georgia climbing from #21 to #1.

The buzz moved from one country to the next in waves: in November 2 it was #1 in Germany's free fitness chart (AppInsider), and by November 6 it had dropped to #106 in Germany's fitness chart. The same day, it was on 22 charts across 16 countries, with Albania, Kosovo, Georgia, and Montenegro all placing #1 in free fitness (appwinners.eu).

### How many people are playing, and where's the money?

Not many. In November 6, the App Store ratings across 23 stores totaled roughly 132: Germany 33, Georgia 15, the UK 14, the US 12, the Netherlands and Canada 7 each, Albania 6. The German average was 4.6 stars. The numbers in its own videos also point the same way: in October 26, Germany led with "21 players," and the US had 6 push-ups in November 242. Total users are estimated at a few thousand, at most ten to twenty thousand (estimate). The Google Play version has just launched, and installs are still in the hundreds.

Revenue is invisible. It has never entered a top-grossing chart in any country, and it hasn't disclosed any revenue. Tying paywalls to national identity is a clever design, but what ignited it was precisely markets with low purchasing power like Georgia, Albania, and Kosovo. How much €5.99 a month converts to in these places is an open question.

Paid ads: no trace of ad spend found. The view distribution is a few viral videos plus a pile of videos with a few thousand views each, which looks more like organic reach (inferred).

### Where it falls short

**The counting isn't accurate.** A one-star German review said: "The app can't recognize push-ups. I do 10 and it counts 3, it's trash" (10-27). A three-star review said: "Lots of features and fun, but it often doesn't count, and I lost a ranked match because of it" (around 11-04). In November 5, the official account posted "Push-ups not counting? 5 fixes" (phone in portrait, whole body in frame, elbows flared slightly, full range of motion, enough light), which got 11k views. For a product whose appeal is "fair battles," this is a serious retention problem.

**The small countries will finish the lap.** The heat spread from Germany to the Balkans and the Caucasus, one new country lit up after another. The number of countries that respond to "your country needs you" and have a chart low enough to climb is limited. What comes after the lap is over is not visible yet.

**Only push-ups.** The national-war mechanic has no inherent link to push-ups, and so far no other product has been seen copying it.

### If it were you

**B. Worth a try, but copy the playbook, not the product.** There are already 20-30 push-up battle apps, and Repborne itself has only a few thousand users with invisible revenue. What's valuable is the combo of "group points + serializing real rankings into short videos + targeting small-country charts". The cost is nearly zero and few people know about it yet.

- **Who it suits** : a team of 1–2 people that already has a small product counting reps via camera or sensor (squats, planks, jump rope, steps, vocabulary, meditation all work), but lacks a growth mechanic that generates its own content, and that has people who can edit vertical short videos and are willing to post 5–10 a day.

- **Who it doesn't suit** : anyone who wants to build another push-up battle app (a red ocean, the big ones already have hundreds of thousands of installs); anyone expecting subscription revenue in the first month (the countries that lit up are mostly low-purchasing-power small countries); anyone whose counting isn't accurate (battle products get one-star reviews from a single missed count).

- **How to do it** : make "country" or "city / school / company / team fans" a first-level ranking dimension, have every user action add points to the group, and give individuals in small groups a spot to show they're "carrying the whole nation." Tie payment to group identity: national skins, a war room, a national elite leaderboard. First get the counting accurate enough that users don't complain, then talk about battles.

- **How to acquire users** : use the official TikTok account as a sports commentary desk, picking storylines each day from real rankings: crowns changing hands, comebacks, one person carrying a nation, big countries ranked behind small ones. Each video names one country, opens in the local language, and ends with "Where's your country? Drop your flag." Focus on small countries with low App Store chart barriers (Balkans, Caucasus, Baltics, Central Asia). A country can reach the overall chart with a dozen-odd ratings, and the chart screenshot becomes the next video.

- **When to move before the window closes** : nobody is copying this playbook yet, and the window is measured in months. January of 2027 is the biggest New Year's resolution season for fitness all year, so ideally launch the group rankings by mid-December, and use one or two months to get the content machine running smoothly.

- **What would signal you got it wrong** : ① Repborne still can't reach any country's Top Grossing chart by December, which would mean national sentiment brings downloads but not subscriptions; ② after the small countries cycle through, its number of charted countries drops from 16 to single digits and official account views fall back to a few thousand, which would mean it was a one-time novelty; ③ a large-scale competitor like Pushup RPG adds country rankings and quickly takes the small-country charts too, which would mean this move has no first-mover advantage and whoever has more volume wins.

Data and sources: App Store storefront pages, ratings and in-app purchase lists (iTunes public API, 11-06); chart data from appfigures, appwinners.eu, AppInsider (11-02 to 11-06); the official TikTok account @repborne1 and view counts on Georgian user videos (11-06); comparable-scale figures from Google Play installs and TikTok views (11-06). Where it says "estimated" or "inferred," those are estimates and inferences.

## Repborne: Liegestütz-Duelle / Push-Up Duels (iOS 6806630880): why it took off

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data sources: our appstore / googleplay / metaads / tiktokads libraries, iTunes lookup, the German App Store storefront page, appfigures, appwinners.eu, AppInsider, TikHub (TikTok), Jina/Exa search.

### One line

A camera-counted push-up + RPG battle app by a German indie developer (Wayil Ziane). The gameplay itself has been a red ocean since 2026 (at least 20 comparable apps). What made it take off wasn't the gameplay but **the "national war" mechanic plus an official TikTok account that turned ranking data into sports-commentary-style national rivalry videos** . That lit up users in small countries (Georgia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro...) through national pride, and small-country App Store charts have very low barriers, so a few hundred downloads can push an app to #1 overall. Making the charts then becomes material for the next video.

### 1. What it is

- Put the phone on the floor; the front camera recognizes push-ups on-device, and each one = a hit on the hero. Ranked 1v1 60-second duels, 15 leagues, 5 world 105 stages, 6 daily modes, a season pass, skins, guilds.

- **National war (Länderkampf)** : every push-up counts toward your country's seasonal total. A world map and a "War Room" show in real time who is ahead and behind your country (1.0.7,10-21 live; 2.0.1,11-01 put the War Room behind the paywall).

- Monetization: free users get 1 Ranked matches per day; Premium is monthly/yearly (yearly from 2.0.2, 7-day trial), unlocking unlimited Ranked, all worlds, the premium Battle Pass tier, **national-team skins** , War Room, and eligibility for the "National Elite Board." No ads, no tracking.

- Listed on 2026-10-05 (iOS); the Android version was released 2026-10-30 (developer name Djamane.co, package com.wayil.repborne). It shipped 11 versions in one month (App Store version history).

- Developer: this is the only app under the App Store account; the privacy policy names Wayil Ziane, address c/o flexdienst (a German virtual address service). Online, people with the same name appear in Aalen, Germany, in youth karate and local football team rosters. **Presumed** to be a young German indie developer (unverified). The launch language was German (the German storefront name "Liegestütz-Duelle"), with 10-21 languages since 15.

### 2. Growth data

- Ratings (iTunes lookup, 2026-11-06, summed by storefront): Germany 33, Georgia 15, UK 14, US 12, Netherlands 7, Canada 7, Albania 6, Belgium 5, North Macedonia 5, Switzerland 4, Australia 4, Kosovo 3... Across a sample of 23 storefronts the total is about **132 ratings** , with an average of 4.6 stars in Germany. Our library tracks only 13 of these storefronts; the data card shows 43 ratings and +7 over the last 31 days.

- Charts: appwinners.eu shows 2026-11-06 charting in 16 countries across 22 charts, with **#1 on Georgia's free overall chart** (on the same day Appfigures had Georgia's Top Overall at #1, ahead of Google Gemini and LC Waikiki). It's #1 on the free Fitness chart in Albania / Kosovo / Georgia / Montenegro, #45 overall in Kosovo, and #46 overall in Albania. AppInsider recorded the first sighting as **#1 on the German free Fitness chart** (11-02); in our library, the German Fitness chart is now #106, so German interest has faded and the baton has passed to the Balkans and the Caucasus.

- No Top Grossing chart placement yet; revenue unknown.

- Android: our googleplay library shows 806 installs (10-15 launch record), a very small number.

- Real user scale can be inferred from its own videos: at 10-26 a German "21 players" led; in 10-30 an American "71 push-ups" ranked #51/66; 11-05 a Georgian "71,356 push-ups" hit #1; 11-06 a Cypriot "2 players, 708 of which 698 is one person doing it." **Total users are likely in the thousands** , not a hit. It's being seen on very low-barrier small-country charts.

### 3. Where users come from (growth tactics)

#### 3.1 Official TikTok @repborne1 (main channel, verified)

TikHub pulled 54 posts, 3,482 followers, 73,697 likes, about 1.75M total views. The content falls into two phases:

- **Phase one (10-09 to 10-21): generic fitness motivation** . "One push-up. Then one more." (10-14.2M views), "Training alone: 'I'm done.' Against your friend: 'One more rep.'" (10-15.2M views). These two brought the first wave of traffic, but this kind of content is indistinguishable from dozens of similar accounts.

- **Phase two (from 10-22): national rivalry commentary** . 10-22 "'Just 10 push-ups' could be the difference between second place and first … Drop your flag" (80k), then nearly every post became a ranking battle report: "One flag has never left #1 🇩🇪", "The UK took their crown. Germany took it personally" (11-185k), "Albania just took #2 in the WORLD" (11-4.21M), "Georgia went #8 → #5 → #4 → #2" (11-4.17M), "The crown flew from Germany to Georgia" (11-05, German headline "Aufstehen. Krone richten. Weitergehen!"). Over 11-05 and 11-06 it posted 17 videos, **each naming one country and opening in its local language** : "Ajmo Hrvatska!", "Forza Azzurri!", "Ela, Kýpros!", "Hello, America? This is your wake-up call", "Belgium is surrounded." This gives each country a custom "your country needs you" hook that drives "drop your flag" replies in the comments.

- The data itself comes from real in-app charts. The numbers are tiny but the story reads like a world war. That's the content engine: **the product generates the plot, the accounts narrate it** , so there's always a next episode.

#### 3.2 Small-country users spread it on their own (confirmed)

Search "repborne" on TikTok and you'll find Georgian users posting on their own: @zmasasu1 11-04 "@Repborne is this App, bros, let's go" (in Georgian, about 30k views), @_strikera_ 11-05 "Georgia is #2!", @giorgi_saakashvili1 11-06. Georgia went from #21 to #1 over 11-03 to 11-06, and "10 days, 100k push-ups" lines up with the official account posting a run of Georgia videos (69k → 175k → 41k views). For small countries, national pride and "our country is being seen by the world" are the strongest motives to share.

#### 3.3 Clipper accounts (small scale, confirmed)

@repborne.clipper7 (display name "Repborne Clipper 2", 17 followers, 18 posts) reposts official footage and makes variants like "World Cup, but instead of football we do push-ups," pulling a few hundred views. This suggests they're testing a clipper account matrix / clipping program, and so far it contributes very little. There's also a YouTube channel, @Repborne (83 subscribers, 29 Shorts).

#### 3.4 Low bar on small-country charts + charting feedback (inferred, backed by data)

Georgia, Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro have very low iOS overall / fitness chart thresholds. A dozen ratings and a few hundred downloads can hit #1. Once charted, store visibility brings the next wave of local users, and "our country is #1" becomes material for the next video.

#### 3.5 what I didn't find

- Paid ads: neither our Meta ad library nor the TikTok ad library (Europe only) shows it. It isn't on our tracking list, so "not found" doesn't mean "not running," but the view distribution (a few hits, most in the thousands) looks more like organic reach.

- X: x-radar corpus of 60 posts over 0 days; no press coverage; no Reddit / HN / Product Hunt posts (none found in search).

- The same developer's earlier app "RepBoss" was delisted 10-20 (per the recall notice). I couldn't verify this independently.

### 4. Competitors: this is a very crowded niche

Over the past 2026 years, "camera-counted push-ups + gamification / 1v1 battles" has produced at least two or three dozen apps, and most of them also grew through TikTok:

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale | How Repborne differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pushup RPG: Fitness Quest(Yerasyl Amanbek) | iOS + Android | iOS 2026-06-25,Android 07-31 | Android 172k installs, 7 days +11k (Google Play library); press release claims 100k+ installs, driven by viral videos | Same "push-up RPG + 1v1" pitch, launched earlier and at roughly ten times the volume; no country wars |
| Push Up Boss: Multiplayer Game(Ipirio) | iOS + Android | Android 2026-06-05 | Android 65k installs; TikTok videos at the 90k-view level | Completely free, no account, 16 bosses + online ranked play; no country dimension |
| RepChamp: Fitness Duel | iOS | 2026 | TikTok @repchampapp single video at 2.98M, 530k views | Pure 1v1 duels; the content is the duel footage itself |
| Push Up Arena(pushuparena.app / Airix LLC "Push Up Arena - Fitness Game") | iOS | 2026-05-14 | A single TikTok with 1.63M views; 118 ratings in the Israeli store | Battles + bosses; likewise grows through short battle clips |
| PUPG: push up playground | iOS | 2026 | TikTok single video at 570k, 470k | Counting + leveling up |
| pushoff - ranked pushups, RepStrike, Push Duel, Push Up Games, PushWar, PushArena, Rep Battle, RepDuel, Pushup Legends, Clash of Pushups, FitRPG, PushUp Quest, Beastie | iOS / Android | Launched in succession throughout 2026 | Most have under a dozen ratings | Homogeneous: counting + battles / ranked / RPG |
| Push Ups Trainer Challenge (Zen Labs), Idle Push Up, Pushes | iOS | 2013–2023 | 3,393 / 7,458 / 560 rating (US store) | Older-generation training plans / idle games, no camera-based battles |
| PushUpLock and similar "do push-ups to unlock your apps" apps | iOS | 2025–2026 | PushUpLock 1,255 rating in the US store | A different lane: screen-time management, not games |
| big tech | — | — | Apple Fitness+, Nike Training and similar have no camera-counted battles | Empty |

**Bottom line** : Repborne's core gameplay has nothing unique about it, and its scale is far smaller than Pushup RPG, Push Up Boss, or RepChamp.

### 5. What's the differentiator, and is that why it took off?

Only one thing is truly different: **it makes "country" a first-class dimension** . Every push-up counts toward your country's seasonal points, there's a national world map, a War Room, national-team skins, and a national elite leaderboard, and all official content revolves around country-versus-country reports. Competitors' content is footage of two individuals dueling, which is individual competition. Repborne's content is "your country is losing / winning," turning users from "I want to work out" into "I'm fighting for my country."

That's why it took off, and the data shows it:

- 10-14/15's generic motivational videos got decent views (~200k), but they were no different from competitors and never built lasting momentum. After 10-22 switched to country wars, the content gained a continuous storyline, small-country users started making videos on their own, and the chart spread from #1 in German fitness (11-02) to 16 countries' 22 charts (11-06), with Georgia's overall chart reaching #1.

- Product mechanics and growth are one system: country points mean small countries have few users but "every person matters" (one person in Cyprus carrying the whole nation), which best motivates small countries. Small-country charts have low bars, so it's easy to hit #1, and hitting #1 becomes material.

- The paid hooks are also tied to country (national skins, War Room, national elite board), an attempt to turn national sentiment into subscriptions. Whether it works is unknown. There's no Top Grossing ranking.

### 6. How many people have seen it

- Revenue is not public. There's no TrustMRR listing, no founder revenue posts, no press coverage, no discussion on X, and no Reddit threads.

- What's visible: 1.75M views on TikTok, automatic indexing by several ASO tracking sites (appwinners, AppInsider, appfigures), and local TikTok circles in small countries such as Georgia.

- Verdict: **it's buzzing in small circles** (hot in TikTok's small-country scene, but not yet known among indie developers or in the industry).

- Copycats: I haven't seen anyone copy the specific country-war tactic yet. The push-up battle category itself is already crowded (see competitors).

### 7. What others can learn

1. **Make "country / region / school / city" a first-class ranking dimension in the product** , so each user's actions add points to the group. Group pride spreads better than individual scores, and individuals in small groups feel more significant.

2. **Use real in-app data as content material** : daily ranking changes are an episode ("X took Y's crown"), and the official account serializes it like a sports commentator. Material is endless and costs almost nothing.

3. **Tailor hooks by country** : each video names one country and opens in the local language, prompting comments that wave flags. That's dozens of free localized campaigns.

4. **Focus on small-country charts** : Georgia, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro and similar charts have very low thresholds, so a few hundred downloads can reach #1, and store visibility plus the "our country tops the chart" story closes the loop.

5. Fast iteration: 11 versions a month, and each major update builds product features around the content tactic (country wars → world map → War Room → national skins).

### 8. Still unclear

- Real downloads and retention: about 130 ratings, suggesting thousands to tens of thousands of downloads. No usable third-party download estimates.

- Subscription conversion and revenue: no Top Grossing ranking, revenue unknown.

- Whether they run paid ads: not on our ad tracking list, so it can't be ruled out.

- Whether country-war heat can last: German fitness has dropped from #1 to #106, and new countries are carrying it for now. Once the small countries that can be "ignited" have all taken their turn, growth may stall.

- Recognition accuracy is a retention risk: German negative reviews focus on "did 10 reps, counted only 3" and "a missed count in Ranked lost the match." The official account posted a dedicated video, "11-05 fixes for push-ups that don't count 5," to address this.

- The developer background and the "RepBoss delisted and re-released" claim are unverified.
