"Watch the world's streets live": which reskin of the live-camera trend is OrbiScope?
What it is A free iPhone app that shows live public camera feeds from around the world on a map, lets you tour 3D landmarks, and takes photos stamped with the location. No in-app purchases; it makes money from interstitial ads.
Why it took off It hasn't really taken off. TikTok videos under #liveearthcamera send people to search the App Store for similar apps, and it picks up a small amount of traffic from social ads for "watch the world's streets live" and keywords in 9 languages. Once installed, it shows ads to monetize.
D gradeHow to play it Don't copy it blindly. There are only two ways into this category: find a tool with millions of installs on Android and no iOS equivalent yet, or build a clean version with few ads and a camera feed that actually works, and grow on word of mouth.

OrbiScope is a free iPhone app that combines public live webcams around the world, a 3D landmark viewer, a GPS-stamped camera, road traffic and a world clock, and earns from interstitial ads. In early November it climbed the travel charts in the US, France and the UK in the same week, then fell back in the same week. It looks like it's gaining traction, but it has only 492 ratings worldwide, about a tenth of the number of #1 CamRoam, and it launched four weeks later. This piece covers how it got its users, how money flows in this category, and what's left for you if you enter now.
An unnamed video, and a "run"
On Oct 2026 27, OrbiScope shipped version 1.0.4. The release notes matched the previous three: just "Fixed known issues". The same day, @presh.wa.rowie posted a TikTok with the caption "The App that shows live anywhere.", tagged #liveearthcamera and #cctv, and reached 11-06 with 121k plays. The video never named the app. Anyone who wanted it had to search "live earth camera" in the App Store, which turned up a dozen similar apps. OrbiScope was one of them.
Over the next week, OrbiScope went from #140 (10-28) to #40 (11-03) on the US Top Free travel chart, from #111 to #18 (11-02) in France, and from #99 to #46 (11-03) in the UK. By 11-06, all three had dropped back to #96, #53 and #117 in the App Store charts.
The reviews left by people who downloaded it tell a different story. A French user, 10-06, wrote:
Fuyez et n'écoutez pas la pub passant sur les réseaux sociaux ! Cette appli ne renferme que des publicités qu'il faut constamment fermer ! (Run, and don't believe the ad going around on social media! This app is nothing but ads you have to keep closing!)
A Canadian user, 10-09, wrote something shorter: "Misleading advertising, you can't see people walking on real time."
What it is
The first line of the store page reads "OrbiScope opens a live window on any place on Earth. Watch real streets in real time". Once you open it, you get:
- A map where you tap public live cameras worldwide: beaches, ski slopes, harbors, city squares, residential streets;
- A 360° 3D orbit of world landmarks;
- A camera stamped with location and time;
- Traffic, compass and a world clock.
It went live on Sep 17. The developer is Beya Network Technology Limited of Hong Kong, registered in 2023. The same developer has other PDF, hidden-photo and VPN apps, all with near-zero ratings. It's free, with no in-app purchases. The privacy label says identifiers are used for cross-app tracking and third-party advertising. It supports 9 languages. The website myorbiscope.com has only a privacy policy.
The camera feeds are public. EarthCam, SkylineWebcams and Windy show them for free without an ad wall. OrbiScope wraps them in an app and adds ads.
How big it really is
| Date | Total ratings, all stores | New today | Stores charted |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | 293 | – | 86 |
| 10-31 | 361 | 15 | 93 |
| 11-03 | 440 | 33 | 109 |
| 11-05 | 486 | 13 | 109 |
| 11-06 | 492 | 30 | 99 |
(App Store ratings, summed across stores)
Most ratings come from the US 109 (7 days +30), France 49 (+21), India 30, Vietnam 26 and the UK 20 (+13). Its traffic comes mainly from Europe and North America. "Charting in about 100 countries a day" doesn't mean much: it ranks #9 in Madagascar, #10 in Senegal and #12 in Yemen, where it has 0 to 1 ratings. The bar there is low enough that a few downloads put you in the top ten.
The US store average is 3.0 (113 ratings, App Store, 11-06). The written reviews are almost all one-star and about the ads: "every time ads play, a close button appears and the close never works" (US, 10-08), "ogni click pubblicità" (Italy, every click is an ad). With that many one-stars, an average of 3.0 suggests a group of silent five-star ratings, probably prompted by the in-app rating dialog (inference).
Where users come from
- Ads on social platforms. There's user evidence, but no creatives found. The reviews above all say the "ads on social networks" are deceptive, and the pitch is "watch people on streets around the world in real time". The negative reviews cluster in two stretches, 10-05 to 10-09 and 10-28 to 11-04. The second stretch is the same week the US, France and UK charts spiked together, which looks like a concentrated campaign (inference). Searching Meta's ad library by name turns up nothing, but an empty library doesn't mean no ads ran. Whether they ran on Meta, TikTok or Snapchat, we don't know.
- The TikTok category wave spilled into store search. From 10 to November, #liveearthcamera videos were very frequent: @ashleyzapata_ 173k (10-07), @presh.wa.rowie 121k (10-27), @nefertiti061 103k (10-26), some tagged #ad. The videos don't name the app, and similar apps shared the traffic. There is no TikTok video from OrbiScope itself.
- Store keywords. The subtitle is "Live Cams, 3D Maps & Traffic". The description packs in live webcams, 3D landmarks, GPS photos, traffic, compass and world clock. It's localized into 9 languages and covers close to a hundred countries.
- There's no press coverage, nobody on X has mentioned it, and there's no Reddit discussion.
Where the money comes from
It's all ads: app-open ads, interstitials, one every tap. Its users are concentrated in the US, France, the UK, Italy and Spain, where ad rates are high. Users who open it, watch for a few minutes and delete it are fine, as long as each open shows enough ads to earn back the cost of an install. That's ad arbitrage: pay for installs, monetize with ads, and don't rely on retention. Whether it's profitable can't be seen from outside. It hasn't appeared on any grossing chart, and no revenue, download or ad spend figures are public.
Who it's competing with
| Product | Launched | Scale (App Store rating, 11-06) | How OrbiScope relates |
|---|---|---|---|
| CamRoam: Live Map & GPS (Hong Kong) | 2026-08-20 | 8,751,7 days +2,568 | Same features, four weeks earlier, with 17 times OrbiScope's volume |
| MAPAS: Live Street View & GPS | 2017 | 12,154,7 days +757 | An established street-view map that competes for the same search terms |
| OrbiScope | 2026-09-17 | 492,7 days +152 | Second-fastest growth among the 2026 H2 new releases |
| Live World: GPS Map | 2026-07-08 | 625,7 days +40 | Same |
| LiveGlobe / Live Earth Camera - GPS Map | 2026-07 / 08 | One or two hundred ratings, 7 days +30 to +52 | Same |
| GlobeRoam, Globe Hop, Earth Lens and others | 2024–2026 | A few to a few hundred | Clones from companies in Hong Kong, Chengdu and elsewhere |
In the App Store "Customers also bought" section, OrbiScope and CamRoam appear together. It adds traffic and a world clock over CamRoam and drops the passport stamps. Otherwise they're nearly identical.
This category already works on Android. Live Earth Map - World Map 3D has about 32.9M installs, Live Earth Map HD about 30M. Live Cam Earth Map, which launched the same day as OrbiScope, already has 2.61M installs (Google Play install counts, early November). The iOS wave is Android-proven features brought over, riding TikTok's momentum.
There are also free alternatives. In October, several "200k-camera 3D globe" websites went viral on TikTok, such as Argos Atlas (introduced by @theroguedev) and Osiris (introduced by @monsieur_futur), with individual videos at hundreds of thousands of views. They're free and have no ad wall.
If it were you
The verdict: Don't follow. The iOS window for this category was taken by CamRoam at the end of August. OrbiScope got a fraction of the volume by arriving four weeks late, and if you enter now you're about fifteenth in line with another reskin. The only thing worth studying here is how the pipeline was put together.
Who it suits: Tool shops that already have an ad-monetized app template, paid acquisition accounts, and a way to count cost per install against ad revenue. For them, this is a category to test for two weeks with a reskin, 9 languages and social ads, and drop if it loses money.
Who it doesn't suit: Indie developers, or anyone relying on product word of mouth or organic installs. The content is public camera feeds, so there's no way to differentiate. Users come in lured by ads promising to "spy on the whole world", so ratings will be bad. The #1 app already holds the keywords.
How to play it (if you still want to): Don't build yet another all-in-one bundle. There are two directions worth considering. One is to bring over a category that already works on Android and is not seriously done on iOS (check Google Play for apps with millions of installs and no iOS equivalent). The other is to go the other way and build a clean version: free, light on ads, with a camera source that really works, earning word of mouth through "no ads" in reviews and TikTok reviews. The second path doesn't make arbitrage money, but it reaches the people who don't want to be bombarded with ads.
How to acquire users: In this category, traffic comes from TikTok videos along the lines of "did you know you can watch the whole world live". Whether the app name appears doesn't matter, as long as store search terms match. Ad creatives built on curiosity get high click-through, but exaggerated claims like "watch people walking on streets live" bring a screen full of "fake" reviews.
When this window was: For this category it's already past. The three countries peaked together around 11-03 and then fell back. When the #liveearthcamera buzz fades is anyone's guess.
Risks: A pile of "misleading advertising" negative reviews can invite Apple review action under repeated-app (4.3) or developer-conduct (5.6) guidelines. The copyright status of camera content is also a gray area.
What would show this read was wrong: If OrbiScope reaches a US rating average of 2,000 or higher before December, or holds a spot in the top 20 of any major-country travel chart for a sustained stretch, then late reskins can still win real volume in this category, and the bar is lower than this analysis assumes. If its daily new ratings drop back to single digits, it means the early-November spike was a single campaign that ended once the money ran out.

With a rating count of 0, it can still make the top 10 in small countries.
- Inferred Rating prompt: the written reviews you can see are almost all 1 stars, yet the US average is still 3.0.

One line
OrbiScope is a mashup of "live world webcams + 3D landmarks + GPS-watermark camera + traffic / compass / world clock." It's free, has no in-app purchases, and makes money from interstitial ads. It's a late clone of the "Live Earth Camera" craze from 2026 autumn (launched 9-17, four weeks after CamRoam, the category leader). It drove traffic by running misleading "watch the streets of the world live" ads on social platforms, plus store keywords. Volume is small: 492 global ratings, 7 in 152 days, roughly 6% of CamRoam. The product has no differentiation.
1. Data (appstore library app_day / app_profile, iTunes lookup, 2026-11-06)
- Listed 2026-09-17, versions 1.0.0 → 1.0.4 (9/21, 9/29, 10/14, 10/27, release notes all "Fixed known issues"), 9 languages (EN/FR/DE/JA/KO/PT/RU/ES/ZH), 63 MB.
- Global ratings: 293 (10-28) → 492 (11-06). Daily adds 5 → 13–33,7 days +152. Each day it sits on the Travel Top Free charts in 86–109 countries.
- Ratings by country (7-day increase): US 109 (+30), France 49 (+21), India 30 (+9), Vietnam 26 (+13), Spain 24, Italy 23, UK 20 (+13), Russia 14, Germany 13, Canada 13. The volume comes mainly from Europe and North America, not small countries.
- Rankings: US Travel Top Free #140 (10-28) → #40 (11-03) → #96 (11-06), with the App Store page showing #149 that day. France #111 → #18 (11-02) → #53. UK #99 → #46 (11-03) → #117. The three countries rose and fell in sync within the same week, which looks like a concentrated push (or category interest) that peaked around 11-02/03 and then receded (inferred).
- Madagascar #9, Senegal #10, and Yemen #12 on the data card are there because the chart bar in those countries is extremely low. Their rating counts are only 0–4.
- US average rating 3.0 (113 reviews, iTunes lookup). The written reviews you can see are almost all 1 stars, yet the average is 3.0. That means a batch of silent high ratings, most likely from the in-app rating prompt (inferred).
- No country has a Top Grossing ranking, and there are no in-app purchases. The privacy label says Identifiers are used for cross-app tracking and third-party ads (App Store page). All revenue comes from ads.
2. Competitors
Same category on iOS (appstore library, ratings summed across countries, 7-day increase):

Among the new apps launched in the second half of 2026, OrbiScope ranks second on growth, but it's an order of magnitude behind CamRoam. In the App Store "Customers also bought" sections, OrbiScope and CamRoam appear next to each other (the Japan store see-all page surfaced by Jina).
- Android: this category already works. Live Earth Map - World Map 3D (TarrySoft) 32.9M installs, Live Earth Map HD 30M, Earth Camera Live Street View 13.4M. GambiSoftVn's Live Cam Earth Map launched the same day as OrbiScope (2026-09-17) and already has 2.61M installs (googleplay library, cited from the CamRoam report in the same directory, ios_6801191530).
- Web: EarthCam, SkylineWebcams, and Windy Webcams are legitimate camera sources. In October 2026 a few "200k cameras, 3D Earth" websites also went viral on TikTok, for example @theroguedev's video with 10-26 133k views and @monsieur_futur introducing Osiris with 145k views (TikHub). These sites are free with no ad wall, so they are direct substitutes.
- Big tech: Google Earth / Street View and Apple Maps Look Around, all free, but none offers "live."
Compared with CamRoam: the feature lists are almost identical (live cameras, 3D landmarks, GPS-watermark camera, compass). OrbiScope adds Live Traffic and a world clock but drops passport stamps. It updates less often than CamRoam (5 versions to 6, so the release notes are template boilerplate), and its US rating count is 4% of CamRoam's.
3. Where users come from
- Paid social ads (user evidence, not found in the ad library): a French 10-06 review with a 1 star reads "Fuyez et n'écoutez pas la pub passant sur les réseaux sociaux !" (Run away, and don't listen to the ads on social networks!); a Canadian 10-09 review reads "Misleading advertising, you can't see people walking on real time"; a French 10-28 review reads "Site mensonger" (Lying website) (appstore library review table / Apple RSS). The ads sell "watch people on street corners around the world in real time," but after download you get public cameras and a screen full of ads, a big letdown.
- Searching Meta's ad library for "OrbiScope" and searching by App ID returned nothing. It's not on the watch list for the TikTok ad library (which only covers Europe) or the Google ad library. These libraries only track watch lists and the first screen of keyword results, so not finding it doesn't mean it wasn't advertised.
- Negative reviews cluster in two windows: 10-05 to 10-09 (1.0.2) and 10-28 to 11-04 (1.0.4). The second window overlaps exactly with the simultaneous US, France, and UK ranking surge. That fits a pattern of batched campaigns (inferred, not verified).
- TikTok category craze (spillover): #liveearthcamera #cctv creator videos stayed dense from 2026-10 through November. Examples: @ashleyzapata_ 173k (10-07), @presh.wa.rowie 121k (10-27), @nefertiti061 103k (10-26). Some are tagged as ads (@alexkwillslay, @mamaangel630, @josepecasasmr, @alantech_ 11-04 tagged #iphone) (TikHub). The videos don't name any app, so viewers search the store for "live earth camera / live cam," and every app in the category gets a share. Searching OrbiScope on TikTok turns up no content of its own. The @orbiscope account is an unrelated French history account with 26 followers.
- Store search / ASO: subtitle "Live Cams, 3D Maps & Traffic." The description stacks live webcams, 3D landmarks, GPS photo, traffic, compass, and world clock. 9 languages. It sits on the travel charts in about 100 countries at once. Getting a spot on low-barrier country charts costs almost nothing.
- Rating prompt (inferred): the written reviews are almost all 1 stars, yet the US average is still 3.0.
- Media, X, Reddit: x-radar returns 0 posts for OrbiScope. Jina surfaces only aggregator pages like the App Store and AppBrain. The official site myorbiscope.com is an empty shell with only a privacy policy.
4. Where the money comes from
No in-app purchases, so it can't reach the Top Grossing chart. Revenue comes from interstitial and app-open ads. A US review says "every time ads play, a close button appears and the close never works," and an Italian review says "ogni click pubblicità" (an ad on every click). Users are mainly in the US, France, UK, Italy, and Spain, where eCPM is high. So even if most people uninstall after a few minutes, as long as each open shows a few ads, paid acquisition can pay back. This is "ad arbitrage": buy installs, then monetize them with ads. There's no data on whether it actually pays back.
5. Why it works (it's only a small run, really)
- The category has been validated on Android with tens of millions of installs. The autumn 2026 TikTok #liveearthcamera craze brought search demand to iOS, and new clones can pick up a bit of it.
- It uses social ads to sell the exaggerated hook "watch people on streets worldwide live" to drive installs, and users' reviews back this up. The US, France, and UK rankings rose and fell together, which also suggests the campaigns were working.
- 9 languages plus keyword stuffing, cheaply placing it on the charts of about 100 countries.
- It monetizes only through ads, with no paywall. It can turn curiosity traffic into cash on first open, so it doesn't need retention.
6. Differentiation
Nothing. The content is public cameras plus maps, the same as a dozen identical apps, with the same feature points. Compared with CamRoam, its distribution is even weaker (volume an order of magnitude lower). It surfaced not because it's different, but because it's another sample from this clone pipeline that produced usable data.
7. How many people know about it
Hardly anyone knows about it yet. Revenue isn't public, X and the media haven't covered it, and only app data sites index it. But the category is already crowded: CamRoam, Live Earth Camera - GPS Map, LiveGlobe, Globe Hop, Earth Lens, and others all launched as copycats between 2026-07 and September. OrbiScope is itself a follower.
8. Takeaways
- The template "ad arbitrage category validated on Android → iOS clone" still has room, but the first mover takes most of the volume, and a copycat a month later gets only scraps.
- Ad creative sells the curiosity of "secretly watching the whole world": high click-through, but terrible reviews. It suits a strategy that relies only on ads and doesn't care about retention.
- Multiple languages plus low-barrier travel countries can make the "number of charted countries" look great. That number fools filters that only look at charts, including our own recall.
- Risks: "misleading ad" complaints invite App Review action (4.3 spam, 5.6 developer conduct guidelines), and the copyright status of the content sources is gray.
9. Uncertain
- Which social platform the ads ran on (Meta / TikTok / Snap), how much was spent, and in which countries: no original creative was found in any ad library.
- Whether the 11-02/03 ranking drop was caused by campaigns stopping or by TikTok interest fading can't be told apart.
- No real download, ad revenue, or ROI data. How much the rating prompt inflated the score is unknown.
- Beya's other apps under the same account, QuarkPDF, Calc Mask, and PulseBarrier Connect, have almost no ratings. Whether it's a shell from a larger Chinese tools company (spreading volume across entities) is unverified.
