Not a word about cleaning in the "Cleaning Log" app: a Japanese adult video chat reskin pipeline
What it is A Japanese points-based adult video chat app disguised as a cleaning log tool. Men spend points to message and video-chat with female hosts, at roughly ¥344 per minute of video.
Why it took off After the same operator's apps were all removed by Apple in early September, it returned around 10-01 under a new individual developer account with a "cleaning" shell. Titles stuffed with "ビデオ通話" and "見せ合い" catch search, and switching screens triggers a rating prompt. It squeezed into the lifestyle free chart at #48–71.
EHow you could follow it Don't. The only clean takeaways are three: one backend with multiple frontends to spread risk, choosing categories by their chart barrier, and using sign-up and check-in bonus points as a first-purchase hook.

On Japan's App Store lifestyle free chart there is an app called "ジョーカー". Its store page says it logs cleaning progress, tracks detergent stock, and lets you video-watch "cleaning partners" doing their chores. Once installed, you find it is actually adult chat where men pay per minute to video-chat with chat-lady hosts (チャットレディ). It was listed in October 1 and gathered nearly 300 ratings in a month. It took off not because of the product, but because an operator whose apps were mass-removed by Apple came back with new accounts and new shells. Here is how it works and why you shouldn't copy it.
200 messages an hour, none about cleaning
In October 7 2026, a Japanese blog that reviews dating apps, 出会い警察 (deaipolice.com), published a hands-on test. The author signed up for ジョーカー and received over 200 messages in an hour, rising to over 300 by the time he finished the article. His words: "掃除関連の内容が1つも無し"—not a single thing related to cleaning.
The messages all came from female hosts, mostly with photos or videos attached, saying things like "I'd love to talk more" or "Can we video chat?" The logic is simple: new users get 300 points on sign-up, hosts take a commission on points the man spends, and whoever gets you to look at pictures and reply keeps those 300 points. Several claimed to "live very close" or wanted to "meet up"; the author states these are サクラ (shills) and romance scams (ロマンス詐欺).
The author found none of the cleaning ledger, progress cards, or detergent stock promised on the store page. The operating company, corporate registration number, and the "特定商取引法に基づく表記" (business operator disclosure required by Japanese law) were all missing.
What it actually sells
It's all points. Per the price list 出会い警察 lists (1 points is about ¥1.23):
| Action | Points | approx. JPY |
|---|---|---|
| Sending a message, a sticker, viewing a photo, or listening to a voice clip | 60pt / times | 73 |
| Watch a video | 160pt | 197 |
| Voice call | 160pt / minute | 197 |
| Video call | 280 pt / minute, anything under a minute is billed as a full minute | 344 |
| Remotely controlling an adult toy on the other side (weak/medium/strong) | 120 / 180 / 240 pt / time | 148–295 |
| Tipping with "花火" (fireworks) | 300pt | 369 |
The sign-up points aren't enough, and you can't make video calls without topping up. Top-ups go through Apple in-app purchase, starting at ¥480. The author's verdict: pricier than comparable apps, "DMM の大人版の方が断然安い" (the adult DMM version is far cheaper).
The store blurb also winks at insiders: "find the person using the 8-digit ID a friend told you," "watch them on video, or let them watch your hands, whatever you like." The title's "スッキリ" literally means "tidied up, refreshed," but in an adult context it means something else. Apple rated it 17+ with "頻繁/極度な成人向けまたはわいせつなテーマ" (frequent/extreme adult or sexual themes) (iTunes, 11-06), so Apple knows it is adult content, but hasn't checked what it has to do with cleaning.
How it charted
Reskinning. 出会い警察 tracked this operator for several months. Around August the shells were "animal" themed, マンモス and チーター, with cooking and gaming as cover. In early September the author wrote that "apparently Apple got angry and every app was removed from the App Store"—all were pulled, and he suspects one reason was using dedicated accounts to inflate reviews. In the weeks after, the same hosts and the same script came back in three new shells:
| Shell | Launched | Category | Developer account | Rating (App Store Japan store, 11-06) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| パパイヤ: "video-watching to practice poses" | 9-14 | Health & Fitness | houshi munakata | 350 |
| シロップ: "video-watching golf swings" | 9-18 | Lifestyle | hana shigemiya | 340 |
| ジョーカー: "video-watching cleaning" | 10-01 | Lifestyle | hiyuu chiha | 295 |
| カシュー: "video-watching your favorite things" | 10-27 | Photo & Video | masami nakaya | 56 |
Each shell is a new individual developer account with only this one app under it. Each shell takes one category, and three or four are live at once, so losing one doesn't wipe everything out. カシュー uses the same naming format as the earlier shells, and within ten days climbed from #204 to #19 on the photo-category free chart. 出会い警察 hasn't named it, so whether it is the same operator is an inference. 出会い警察 says of ジョーカー: "チャットレディも変わっていなければ手口も一緒"—the hosts haven't changed, and neither has the playbook.
Picking a low-barrier chart. ジョーカー stayed at #48–71 on Japan's lifestyle free chart from 10-28 to 11-06, with the best at #48 in 10-31. Its neighbors are chart-toppers like エディオン (electronics retail) and LIPS (cosmetics community), membership-style apps. At that spot, a dozen or so new ratings a day is enough. If it had been listed honestly in the social category, it would have been buried under legitimate competitors like ビデオ通話 ソラ (4,500+ ratings) and KANADE (6,000+).
A rating prompt on every screen switch. By 11-06 it had 295 ratings, yet the App Store page showed only 2 written reviews. One of them (10-13) reads: "画面切り替えるたびにレビューしてくれ表記がウザい"—every time I switch screens it asks me to review, so annoying. 出会い警察 also says the ratings are "just people tapping the rating button, with no reviews written." The count is climbing fast (+7 in the last 89,11-06 days, with +22 on the biggest single day), most of it from prompts. The average dropped from 4.18 to 4.05, and new ratings average under 4 stars, so it is not purely five-star spam.
Titles aimed straight at search terms. "ビデオ通話" and "見せ合い" are insider terms for this kind of app; Yahoo Chiebukuro has people asking "recommended 見せ系 apps." Searching 見せ合い in the Japan App Store, about half of the top dozen-plus results are the same thing: Carina, MIYABI+, 響, KOHAKU, coco+ ("video practice for interviews"), and Petomi ("video-watching pets"), which launched 10-30 ago.
出会い警察 also says the app "specifically recruits men from sleazy online ads," but no specific ad was found; the Meta Ad Library, TikTok, and X show no sign of it.
Where the money came from, and how much
The money is the points men buy. The message flood after sign-up is itself the paid funnel: a reply costs ¥73, a minute of video ¥344, and the more eager the host, the faster the man spends.
We can't see how much it earns from the outside. ジョーカー has only shown up on the Lifestyle Free chart, not overall, and not on the Lifestyle Top Grossing chart, so its revenue still isn't enough to crack the top 200 in Lifestyle grossing. The apps in the same model that really make money are the older ones that dared to list under Social: KANADE is #14 in Social Top Grossing and #160 overall Top Grossing; ソラ is #25 in Social Top Grossing (App Store Japan, 11-06). Shells like ジョーカー have short lives, get rebuilt every month, and only earn for a few weeks.
How many people know about it
Only adult-dating review blogs like 出会い警察 have written about it, and those blogs are themselves funneling traffic, with the recommendations at the bottom pointing to other dating sites. Revenue isn't public, and nobody on X or TikTok is discussing it. Few people know about it, but that doesn't mean the space is empty: the shell-swapping play has been around in the circles for a while, and there are over 80 Japan-store apps with 「ビデオ通話」 or 「見せ合い」 in the title. Most are look-alike covers with fewer than 10 ratings, and some developer accounts have a whole string of them.
If it were you
Grade E. Don't touch it. ジョーカー got where it is through three things a follower can't get and shouldn't try to get: a ready-made pool of female hosts and a backend, a pipeline where any account that gets removed is replaced and the app is relaunched, and a store page that doesn't match what the app does. That last one directly violates App Store Review Guidelines on accurate metadata; not disclosing the operator violates Japan's Specified Commercial Transactions Act; and hosts pretending to be local and arranging meetups is what 出会い警察 considers fraud. Its window is measured in next-round mass takedowns, so in weeks.
Who it suits: nobody. If you really want to build Japanese adult video chat, look at KANADE or ソラ, which are run by companies, sit in Social, and have stayed listed for a long time, or at web sites like DMM ライブチャット that publish their licenses. That's a legitimate licensed business, not something two indie devs can do.
Who it doesn't suit: anyone who wants to build a product that lasts; anyone using their real identity and a real developer account. One account ban and your other apps go down with it.
What you can take away: three points are clean. One: a single backend feeding multiple independent front ends spreads single-point risk. Two: before listing, check how many new installs per day it takes to reach the top 100 of each category's free chart, and put the app in a category it can actually rank in (assuming it truly belongs there). Three: sign-up bonus points and daily check-in points as a hook for the first top-up. Also, here's a warning sign to recognize: lots of ratings with almost no written reviews usually means pop-ups are farming ratings, so estimating downloads from rating counts will overshoot.
Where the analysis went wrong: ① ジョーカー, パパイヤ and シロップ were all still listed after 2027 January, and appeared on Lifestyle or Social grossing charts. That suggests Apple isn't cracking down, and this approach lives longer than expected. But it only proves that a gray business can survive; it doesn't change the fact that followers can't get the host pool. Two: someone could launch the same category with a real "watch each other" use case (for example actually cleaning together, or practicing golf swings together), with no adult content. That would show one of these covers has real demand behind it, worth looking at separately.

ジョーカー Video call for a cleaning show-off! : a Japanese adult video chat app disguised as a "cleaning log"
- App Store: apps.apple.com/jp/app/id6812974905. Developer account hiyuu chiha, an individual account with only these 1 apps (developer_id 6812974907; AppBrain's developer page also lists only 1). Listed 2026-10-01, current version 1.1 (10-02), no updates since. Category is Lifestyle, age rating 17+, labeled "frequent/extreme adult or obscene themes"; free with in-app points purchases; no website or operator information.
- Regions checked: full appstore library scan, charted only in jp (1 charts). Research date 2026-11-06.
Bottom line
It isn't a cleaning app. The store page says it "logs cleaning progress, tracks cleaning-supply stock, and lets you watch each other with a cleaning partner," but after download it's a points-based adult chat where men pay to message and video-call チャットレディ (female chat hosts), with video calls at 280pt/min (about ¥344). It gets volume from one operator's shell-swap pipeline:
- Each time Apple removes apps in bulk, they switch to a new personal account and relaunch under a legitimate cover (animal-themed マンモス/チーター → papaya and syrup in mid-September → 10-01 ジョーカー);
- The name packs in words insiders recognize, like 「ビデオ通話」「見せ合い」「スッキリ」, to catch store search;
- The app prompts for a rating every time you switch screens, inflating the rating count to get into the free Lifestyle chart, which has a low bar.
The product itself has no differentiation. Only the cover changes.
1. What it actually is (evidence)
- deaipolice.com (出会い警察, 2026-10-07 posts) ran real sign-up tests:
- The cleaning and inventory features on the store page don't exist;
- About 1 hours after sign-up, 200+ messages arrived, with "掃除関連の内容が1つも無し" (zero cleaning-related content);
- The women are チャットレディ contracted to the operator, paid commission based on the man's point spending, and there's lure language like "I live nearby" and "want to meet" (which the author calls sakura/romance scam);
- No operating company, corporate registration number, or Specified Commercial Transactions Act disclosure. deaipolice.com/joker/
- Price list (same article):
- Sign-up gives 300pt, but you can't call without topping up; 1pt ≈ ¥1.23.
- Messages, stickers, viewing photos, voice messages 60pt (¥73) each; viewing videos 160pt; voice calls 160pt/min; video calls 280pt/min (¥344); calls under 1 minutes are billed as 1 minutes.
- There's also "vibration intensity (weak/medium/strong)" at 120/180/240pt per use, which means remotely controlling an adult toy on the woman; "fireworks" tips are 300pt.
- The author's conclusion: more expensive than comparable apps, "DMM's adult version is far cheaper."
- The store description itself hints at it: 「友だちから聞いた8文字のIDで相手を探して」「ビデオチャットで眺めるのも、自分の手元を見せるのも自由」 (find people via the ID your friends told you; watching on video or showing your own hands is up to you). "スッキリ" literally means "clean/refreshed," and is also an adult slang pun.
- Age rating 17+, labeled "frequent/extreme adult or obscene themes" (iTunes lookup 2026-11-06). Apple knows it's adult content, but hasn't verified any link to "cleaning."
2. Data (appstore library, jp)
| Date | Lifestyle free chart rank | Total ratings | New today | Average |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | 62 | 170 | – | 4.18 |
| 10-30 | 62 | 187 | 16 | 4.17 |
| 10-31 | #48 (best) | 193 | 6 | 4.16 |
| 11-02 | 69 | 218 | 12 | 4.10 |
| 11-04 | 71 | 241 | 17 | 4.06 |
| 11-06 | 59 | 276 | 22 | 4.06 |
- Accumulated 170 ratings in 27 days after listing; then +106 over the next 9 days; in the last 7 days +89,11-06, with a single-day peak of +22. iTunes lookup showed 295 ratings on the day of lookup at 11-06.
- It only charted on the Lifestyle Free chart (n_charts=1); not on overall or Lifestyle grossing. That suggests its revenue isn't yet big enough to make the Lifestyle grossing charts 200; the card's "high ARPU" is inferred from the price list, not from chart evidence.
- The neighbors around its Lifestyle free #59 are エディオン (58) and LIPS (60), retail and membership apps (11-06 v_chart); a dozen or so new ratings a day is enough to hold #50–70.
- Ratings and written reviews are badly out of proportion: of 295 ratings, only 2 written reviews appear on the App Store page. One of them (10-13) says "画面切り替えるたびにレビューしてくれ表記がウザい" ("Every time I switch screens it asks me to review, it's so annoying"). This is what the card means by "prompts for ratings on every screen switch": the app repeatedly triggers rating pop-ups, piling up ratings from people who tapped stars but never wrote anything. deaipolice also says "評価ボタンを押されているだけでありコメントは一切投稿されていませんでした" (only rating buttons were pressed; no comments were posted at all).
- So I infer its rating growth tracks "active app opens" more than real downloads, and using it to estimate downloads will overshoot.
- The average fell from 4.18 to 4.06, and the new ratings average about 3.9, so it isn't pure five-star inflation.
- We have no review samples for this app in our library (rating count under 5000, and it never made the top of a category).
3. Same-operator reskin lineage (key background)
deaipolice's series of articles groups these apps under one operator:
- Mammoth, Cheetah (around 2026-08, "animal" fronts; the shells are cooking and game apps that show each other things; deaipolice wrote about Cheetah 2026-08-30).
- Early September: "Apple apparently got upset, and every app was removed from the App Store" (syrup article); the papaya article also says they had earlier used dedicated accounts to fake positive reviews, which may be why they were removed.
- Papaya Video Call: practice poses for mutual flashing! (houshi munakata, 9-14, Health & Fitness; 11-06 has 344 ratings, 7 days +58, Health & Fitness Top Free rank 26–38).
- Video Call Showing Shots! Syrup (hana shigemiya, 9-18, lifestyle; 337 ratings, 7 days +68, lifestyle free 87–111).
- Joker (hiyuu chiha, 10-01, lifestyle; the front is cleaning). deaipolice: "The chat ladies haven't changed, and the playbook is the same."
- Inferred next shell: Video Call, Show Off Your Favorites with Cashew! (masami nakaya, 10-27, photo/video; 11-06 has 48 ratings, the photo free chart rose from #204 to #19). The naming pattern "Video Call… Showing Each Other!" matches the earlier ones, but it is not on deaipolice's confirmed list, so it is unverified.
This operator's model: each shell is published under a new individual developer account holding only 1 app; each takes its own category; 3–4 shells are live at once to spread takedown risk. The three live shells (Papaya, Syrup, Joker) added roughly 30–50 ratings a day combined over these 7 days.
4. Competitors
The real competitors are not cleaning apps but Japan's adult video-chat / "mise-ai" apps. A. Same-template fronts (appstore library, jp, 11-06):
- Video Call Sora (Assist Inc., 2025-08-17): 4,507 ratings, 7 days +139, best social grossing rank #25.
- KANADE (Shoma Irisawa, 2022): 6,150 ratings, social grossing #14, overall grossing #160.
- MIYABI+ (2026-04-10): 1,200 ratings, 7 days +287, social grossing #33.
- Muscle Training Showing Sakura (2026-03-31): 849 ratings, entertainment grossing #72.
- KAKERU Showing Running (03-25): 829 ratings, social grossing #52.
- Carina (04-15): 460 ratings, 7 days +148.
- coco+ (10-08): an "interview practice" shell, business grossing #22.
- In the jp library, 86 apps have "video call" or "mise-ai" in their names (including regular apps like imo), most of them similar fronts with fewer than 10 ratings; accounts such as apexlab and Masato Tanaka have strings of similar shells (Pecoly, Rapica, sharry, etc.).
B. Licensed live chat: old web sites such as DMM Live Chat, Chatpia, Madame Live, and FAMU, which publish their company and license info and drive traffic through affiliates; scale unverified. C. Nominal competitors: genuine chore-tracking apps (e.g. housework/cleaning apps), which don't overlap with it. The selling point "chore partners watch each other's progress cards and video hands" has no one doing it, and this app doesn't either, so it is not a real differentiator.
By comparison, Joker is small for this category: 276 ratings, free chart only. Its trait is a short lifecycle (listed one month), relaunched repeatedly through shell swaps rather than building a single app over time.
5. Growth tactics
| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Relisting after takedown (new individual account + legitimate front) | Three deaipolice articles document Papaya, Syrup, and Joker going live one after another after the early-September purge; all three apps are on individual accounts holding only 1 app each. | Confirmed |
| App Store search / naming ASO: titles stuffed with "video call," "mise-ai," "sukkiri" | The title itself; "mise-ai" is an in-community search term (Chiebukuro questions like "recommended mise-kei apps"); the App Store "You Might Also Like" section cross-recommends it with same-category apps like Wonder and JamRoom. | Confirmed (mechanism), volume unknown |
| Frequent in-app rating prompts → rating count → exposure on the lifestyle free chart | User review: "It asks for a review every time I switch screens"; the 295 ratings include only 2 text reviews. | Confirmed |
| Adult-oriented web ads driving traffic (recruiting men only) | deaipolice's syrup article: "Attracting only men in large numbers from obscene online ads"; the joker article predicts "it will probably eventually be advertised through ads." | Unverified (blogger's claim) |
| Sign-up points + daily check-ins and points for logging activity | Listing: 250pt for new sign-ups plus check-ins; deaipolice: sign-up gives 300pt. | Confirmed (retention / first-top-up hook) |
| Meta ads | The metaads library has no advertiser that lands on 6812974905 or its sister shells; the library only tracks a list, so not finding it doesn't mean they didn't buy ads. | Not found |
| X / TikTok content | x-radar finds nothing in 60 days; a TikHub search for "mise-ai apps" returns no relevant videos. | Not found |
Where the money comes from: male users spend points per message and per minute, topping up through Apple in-app purchase (from ¥480). Chat ladies earn commission on the men's spending, so the message flood after sign-up is itself the monetization funnel: ¥73 per message, ¥344 per minute of video.
6. Why it took off
- Supply side is ready-made: the chat-lady pool and back end are the same set, per deaipolice's "the chat ladies haven't changed." Swapping shells only requires redoing the store page, so the cost of launching a new one is low.
- Category arbitrage: 50–70 on the lifestyle free chart needs only a dozen-plus new ratings a day; in the social category, apps like Sora and KANADE would bury it.
- Rating prompts inflate the count: 295 ratings but only 2 text reviews, so rating growth mainly comes from the prompts.
- Naming aims straight at demand: "mise-ai" and "sukkiri" let men searching for this kind of app recognize it at a glance, while the store copy is plausible enough to pass review.
- Timing: after the early-September purge, new shells were needed, and 10-01 fills that gap. Its lifespan will likely be a few weeks to a few months, until the next round of takedowns.
7. How many people know about it
- Revenue is not public. Only adult/dating review blogs have written about it (deaipolice 2026-10-07); these blogs run affiliates themselves, linking to J-Mail and others at the end of posts.
- No discussion turns up on X or TikTok.
- Conclusion: it circulates in a small circle, limited to dating-review blog communities. The approach is no longer new within that circle, and the library holds dozens of similar fronts, so the space is already crowded.
8. What to borrow
- What can be legitimately borrowed: the same supply and back end, with several independent front ends to spread single-point risk; choose a category based on chart thresholds; build a first-top-up hook through sign-up points and check-ins.
- The non-copyable parts: the shell and the actual function do not match, which violates App Store Review Guideline 2.3 (accurate metadata) and 1.1/5.x; there is no commercial transaction disclosure; repeated in-app rating requests violate the HIG and exceed SKStoreReviewController's frequency limit (Apple allows at most 3 prompts a year; "every screen switch" may be a custom-drawn prompt). It can be taken down in bulk at any time.
9. Uncertain
- Actual revenue and downloads: not on the grossing charts, so cannot be estimated.
- Who the operating company is: deaipolice speculates it is "a large Tokyo company" without naming it.
- Whether Cashew is the same operator's next shell.
- Whether there is also a "Joker free posting on the bulletin board!" (Ryodai Ueda) app 2024 years ago, and whether it is related.
- Whether adult-site ads or affiliates were bought: no direct evidence found.
- Whether the prompt is Apple's system rating dialog or a custom-drawn nudge.
