> Live appraisal streams and 'snap a photo and ask AI what it's worth' have grown demand. Overseas versions of similar apps already make money, but nobody seriously pushed in the China store. It gave its overseas version a Chinese name, then used paid acquisition (inferred) and a high-priced weekly subscription to climb straight to the top of the category Top Grossing chart.

# Charted #35 on China's Reference Top Grossing within a month with only 1 ratings: a small Beijing company brings an overseas antique ID app back home

**What it is** A photo-based antique ID app listed only on the China store. It tells you a piece's era, material and rough value. Weekly membership ¥68, annual membership ¥168.

**Why it took off** Live appraisal streams and "snap a photo and ask AI what it's worth" built the demand, and overseas lookalikes had already made money, while the China store had no serious player. It swapped its overseas version for a Chinese name, then used paid acquisition (inferred) and a high-priced weekly subscription to push straight onto the category Top Grossing chart.

**B** **How you could follow it** Stop crowding into antiques and copy its method in another category: check the US Top Grossing chart for AI identification categories the China store still lacks (coins, jade, minerals, sports cards, etc.), build a Chinese version, run a paywall with weekly and annual plans and buy installs, then add expert review or resale leads so users have something to buy after the scan.

Grade B: the cross-store port opportunity is real, and few people in China know about it yet. But it needs paid acquisition, ROI and renewals are unproven, free alternatives like Doubao are next door, and the antique slot is already taken, so you'd have to switch categories. Few people know about it yet

In August 2026, an article on Stringers opened like this: a family finds an old object at home, a silver dollar left by grandfather or an old bowl cleared out during a move, and today people's first reaction isn't to go to an antique shop, it's to snap a photo and ask AI. The article's title was "Doubao says it's real, Yuanbao says it's fake," about the same Tang tricolor pottery piece where two AIs reached opposite conclusions. A month later, in Oct 5, an app called "趣鉴宝 - 古董鉴别与估值" launched on the App Store China store. Its function: take a photo, get era and material, and a rough price range, with a weekly membership of ¥68. By Nov 6 it ranked #35 on China's Reference Top Grossing chart, with only 1 ratings worldwide. This piece covers who made it, where the traffic came from, and whether you can copy the playbook.

### What it is

A photo-recognition antique app: upload a picture and it gives the likely category, era, material, craftsmanship, rarity, and a "market value range reference." The store description lists scenarios such as "Found an old object at home and don't know what it is?" and "Received a family heirloom and want to know its history and collecting value?"

Version 1.0.0; it hasn't had a single update since launch. Free to download, and opening it lands you on the paywall: weekly membership ¥68, annual membership ¥168 (China store page, 11-06). ¥68 a week works out to about ¥3,500 a year, so the annual plan is effectively 50% off. This is a classic pricing pattern: the weekly plan as the anchor that pushes people toward the annual plan.

There's nothing new in the features. Overseas AntiqSnap, Curio and Antique Identifier do the same thing, and Doubao and Yuanbao can answer the same photo question for free.

### Who made it: a small team that churns out AI tools in batches

The developer on the App Store is listed as EASTERLY TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, which has only this one app under it. But its package name is `com.instaantique.antique.iosgn`, and following that name turns up three things:

- **The overseas original, InstaAntique** : the official site instaantique.com only has an email sign-up for "Get Early Access"; the Android version has had 100 downloads or more on Google Play (AppBrain). It hasn't really taken off overseas.

- **The domestic entity** : an Android app of the same name, "趣鉴宝," on Xiaomi's app store, with package name `com.instaantique.antique.gn`. The developer is listed as Beijing Laohu Chuangxiang Technology Co., Ltd., founded in 2022, registered capital 1M, located in Shangdi, Haidian (business registry info). The `gn` suffix means "domestic."

- **It has done this more than once** : RevMod, an AI car modification rendering app, launched in the US store, then a China store version "酷车AI" (package suffix `.ioscn`). The Android RevMod under EASTERLY has 336k installs on Google Play. It also has Boomio, an AI video template app, and a short drama app that has since been removed. Its website calls itself an "AI Creative Technology Studio," with services described as "growth infrastructure, experiment loops."

So Quji Bao wasn't one person's brainstorm. It's a team that specializes in "overseas version + domestic version + subscription," running the playbook again in the antique category.

### How one rating got it onto the Top Grossing chart

| Date | Reference Top Free chart | Reference Top Grossing chart | Cumulative ratings |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | 111 | 49 | 0 |
| 10-31 | 151 | 53 | 0 |
| 11-02 | 136 | 62 | 1 |
| 11-04 | 123 | 52 | 1 |
| 11-05 | 90 | 42 | 1 |
| 11-06 | 46 | 35 | 1 |

(Reference data: App Store China store category charts, recorded daily. 11-06 is the Top Free rank shown on the store page 33)

Over 11-04 to 11-06, it climbed 77 places on the Top Free chart, and the Top Grossing chart moved up in step, while the rating count didn't move at all. The neighbors at #30 to #40 on the same chart were Ziwei Doushu (32k ratings), a driving test question bank (5,900 ratings), and Ce Ce Bazi (2,200 ratings), all sustained by years of loyal users. Quji Bao has only 1, which suggests its revenue comes almost entirely from new users who pay as soon as they install.

Where those new users came from:

- **Paid acquisition, most likely** (inferred, no ad creatives retrieved). A gap this large between rank and rating count, with a sudden climb over two days, is the typical curve of increased ad spend. Its privacy label declares "data used to track you: identifiers," which is what ad attribution requires. Domestic subscription tool apps usually buy on Oceanengine and Tencent Ads, but where it buys can't be confirmed here.

- **Store search, partly** . In the China App Store search API, searching "古董" (antiques) puts it at #3, behind Weipaitang and Yujian; searching "古玩" (antique curios) puts it at #9. The subtitle reads "Smart identification of antiques and collectibles, analyzing era, material and value," covering the main keywords.

- **Content and word of mouth, none** . Searching "趣鉴宝" on Douyin returns only appraisal streamers and AI short dramas, and not one post about this app. X, Xiaohongshu and media outlets have nothing either.

### Why now, and why this one

**The demand was built by appraisal livestreams.** Tingquan Shangbao has over 3,700 million followers on Douyin, and appraisal had long been mass entertainment; by 2026, "snap a photo and ask AI what it's worth" had become something many families did. The Stringers article mentioned a Xiaohongshu post about "uploading a photo to tell real from fake" with 12,906 comments. The people likely to pay for this are mostly middle-aged and older people with heirlooms at home, curiosity, and little interest in comparison shopping, for whom ¥68 isn't a sensitive number (inferred).

**Proven overseas, no one serious in China.** In the US store, AntiqSnap has 31k ratings and Curio has 17k. These antique ID apps have sat between #12 and #55 on the Reference Top Grossing chart for years. Many also released Chinese versions, but those were quick translations, each with only 0 to 5 ratings in the China store and no paid push. A Chinese lookalike called "AI鉴宝" also launched, with 2 ratings and never charted. Scanning the China Reference chart by name for "鉴宝, 古董, 古玩, antique" turns up only 趣鉴宝 as an antique ID app.

**Cheap to re-skin, pricing holds up under paid acquisition.** The code is ready-made from their overseas version; just change the Chinese name, make Chinese screenshots and keywords, and ship. A ¥68 weekly subscription should cover several installs' worth of acquisition cost, and this category's Top Grossing bar is low: a few dozen payers can get you into the top 50 (inferred).

### Who it's competing with

| Competitors | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Doubao, Yuanbao, and DeepSeek: snap a photo, ask | Hundreds of millions of users | Free, ask anything; 趣鉴宝 (Qujianbao) is a dedicated wrapper charging ¥68/week |
| Weipaitang, Yujian, Dazang, Huaxia Collectibles | China store: 3,900–5,800 ratings | Trading, auctions, and human appraisal, not AI tools |
| "玉王朝" (Yuwangchao) AI jade appraisal, and the 万物鉴宝 mini program | 玉王朝 (Yuwangchao): 8 months, 30k users, over ¥1M in transactions (Sina, 2026-02) | Free basic screening, then charge for expert review or take a cut of transactions |
| AntiqSnap, Curio, and other overseas versions | US store: 17k–31k ratings | Making money overseas, not advertised in the China store |

The real competition is free large models. 趣鉴宝 gets paid because paid acquisition puts it in front of people who downloaded a "antiques app" and never thought to ask Doubao. That also suggests weak renewals: once users photograph the few items at home in week one, there's little reason to keep paying ¥68 (inferred).

### If it were you

**Bottom line** : what's valuable here isn't antique recognition, it's the playbook: an AI photo-recognition category validated on overseas Top Grossing charts that nobody has paid to push in China. Ship a Chinese version and buy traffic. Antiques are already taken by 趣鉴宝, so a different category is the better bet.

**Who it suits** : small teams that already have a "photo → AI analysis → report → paywall" template, can run Oceanengine and Tencent Ads, and have a few tens of thousands of yuan for testing. Ideally someone who has run an overseas subscription app and knows how to tune a paywall.

**Who it doesn't suit** : indie devs who won't buy traffic and are hoping for organic downloads. This category has no word-of-mouth in China: 趣鉴宝 has not had a single related Douyin video in a month, so without spending there's no volume. It's also a poor fit for anyone hoping to differentiate on product, since free Doubao sits right next door.

**How to do it** :

- Pick the category first. Browse the US Reference, Utilities, and Education Top Grossing charts for AI recognition apps (coins, stamps, rocks and minerals, jade, sports cards, old liquor, plant disease), then search the matching Chinese terms in the China store and see whether anyone has built a dedicated Chinese app. Candidates are the ones with big overseas players and nothing in China.

- Copy the pricing: weekly membership as the anchor, annual to drive conversion. But don't treat "photograph everything in week one, then leave" as the default. Don't count on renewals; model unit economics around first-purchase payback.

- Build what it doesn't have. It hasn't updated in 1.0.0 month, and there are no transactions or human review. Learn from 玉王朝: make AI screening free or cheap, then sell a one-time "expert review" or pass leads to buy-back and auction. That gives users a next step they'll pay for after the photo.

- Don't hard-code "worth X" in reports. The chain of AI appraisers quoting absurd values and then upselling "agent purchase" is a scandal that has already been exposed. Phrase results as "reference range, verify offline" and you'll avoid a lot of complaints and refunds.

**How to acquire users** : mainly paid acquisition through Oceanengine and Tencent Ads. Creatives can copy the appraisal-livestream format ("What's this bowl worth at home? Snap it"). In the store, fill the subtitle and keywords with category terms to capture some search traffic. The category chart bar is low, so once paid acquisition pushes you into the top 50, charting itself brings a bit of organic download.

**When the window closes** : for antiques, watch whether copycats appear in the next month or two. Other categories have no hard deadline, but this playbook has no secret; once a larger tool-matrix company notices, they'll flood it. Also weigh Apple's review rules on re-skins and clone packages (rule 4.3): running too many copies of one template puts accounts at risk.

**What would show I'm wrong** : if 趣鉴宝's Top Grossing rank falls back beyond 100 within a month or two with no new version, paid acquisition isn't paying back and the team has stopped spending. If China-store apps in this category broadly have low ratings with complaints about "random valuations" and "refunds," then the ¥68 purchase can only be sold once and can't support sustained spending.

## Why 趣鉴宝 (antique appraisal & valuation, iOS id6815546852) is charting

> Research date 2026-11-06. Storefronts checked: the appstore library scanned all regions; this app is listed only in the China store (the US lookup returned 0 results) and has only charted in cn. Sources: our appstore / googleplay libraries (from 2026-10-28), iTunes lookup / search, China App Store pages, Xiaomi app store pages, Jina search, TikHub Douyin search, x-radar.

### Bottom line

趣鉴宝 isn't a breakout from some solo indie dev. It's **a small Beijing company running an "AI tool matrix + overseas/domestic dual versions + subscription paid acquisition" model (Beijing Tiger Creative Technology; overseas shell EASTERLY TECHNOLOGY LIMITED). They retitled their overseas antique-recognition app InstaAntique in Chinese, put a ¥68/week subscription on it, and pushed it into the China store** . A month after launch it reached #35 on the China Reference Top Grossing chart and #46 on Top Free (the App Store page showed Top Free #33 that day), yet had only 1 ratings. A gap that large between chart position and rating count means almost no organic word of mouth; the volume was most likely bought (inferred; we did not get the ad creatives). It uses a hard paywall and sells a weekly subscription. Two things made it work: first, the timing: 2026 "AI antique appraisal" took off in China, and appraisal livestreams like 听泉赏宝 built a large audience; second, a gap: there was no other Chinese antique-recognition app on the China Reference chart. The product itself matters little for differentiation.

### 1. Basics and chart data

- Listed: 2026-10-05; version 1.0.0, not updated to date; 64.8 MB; iOS 15+; age rating 18+; language tag is EN only (the interface is Chinese, the tag is wrong); bundle `com.instaantique.antique.iosgn` (iTunes lookup cn, 2026-11-06).

- Developer: the App Store lists EASTERLY (EASTERLY TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, developer_id 6789019547); this account has only this one app (appstore library, app table).

- In-app purchases: weekly ¥68, annual ¥168 (China App Store page). ¥68/week works out to about ¥3,500 a year, so the annual plan is roughly a 5% discount, a typical "weekly as the anchor, annual to drive conversion" paywall.

- China Reference (genre 6006) chart, from the appstore library chart_rank:

| Date | Top Free | Top Grossing | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-28 | 111 | 49 | 0 |
| 10-31 | 151 | 53 | 0 |
| 11-02 | 136 | 62 | 1 |
| 11-04 | 123 | 52 | 1 |
| 11-05 | 90 | 42 | 1 |
| 11-06 | 46 | 35 | 1 |

Over 11-04 to 11-06, Top Free rose from 123 to 46 and Top Grossing from 52 to 35, with the rating count fixed at 1. It has never made the overall chart.

- Chart neighbors: on the China Reference Top Grossing chart at #30–40 are apps like 紫薇斗数 (31,908 ratings), a driving-test question bank (5,941), and 测测八字 (2,249) (appstore library, 11-06). The neighbors have thousands to tens of thousands of ratings; 趣鉴宝 has 1, so its revenue almost certainly comes from paid-acquisition users who pay right after install, not from word of mouth or returning users (inferred).

### 2. Who made it: an AI tool-matrix playbook

- **The overseas original, InstaAntique** : website instaantique.com ("AI Antique Discovery", currently only a "Get Early Access" email signup); the Android version `com.instaantique.antique.android` is published by EASTERLY TECHNOLOGY LIMITED, and AppBrain shows 100+ downloads. No iOS overseas version turned up in Apple search (iTunes search in the US store for "InstaAntique" returns nothing). So the overseas version barely gained traction, and the China version charted first.

- **Domestic entity** : the Android version of "Qu Jian Bao - Antique Identification & Appraisal" on the Xiaomi App Store has package name `com.instaantique.antique.gn`, with the developer listed as **Beijing Laohu Chuangxiang Technology Co., Ltd.** . It is on version 1.0.4, last updated 2026-11-04, currently marked "under maintenance", rated 0 (app.mi.com). The company was founded 2022-03 with a registered capital of ¥1M. Legal representative is Wu Ruize, and the address is in Shangdi, Haidian, Beijing (BOSS Zhipin company info). The official site tigeridea.cn claims "5+ core products and 300k+ cumulative users". Wu Ruize is also the legal representative of Beijing Qianfeng Technology, which made the app "Xiao Qinghua" (copyright records on Tianyancha).

- **They've run the same playbook more than once** :
    - RevMod AI-Car Tuning & Design (AI car modification renders): iOS seller Beijing Tiger Creative Technology, listed 2026-04-28, 160 ratings in the US store; they also shipped a China version, "酷车AI", bundle `com.revmodai.revmod.ioscn`, listed 2026-05-18, 60 ratings. On Google Play, RevMod under EASTERLY has 336k installs (googleplay library). RevMod reached #5 and #17 on the graphic-design Top Grossing charts in small countries like Jamaica and Bolivia, with only single-digit ratings (appstore library).
    - Boomio - AI Movie Templates (Google Play, 38k installs).
    - PulseDrama short dramas (AppBrain shows it published by EASTERLY; 2026-06-04 delisted from Google Play; the current version sits under another entity name).
    - easterlytech.com calls itself an "AI Creative Technology Studio" and describes its business as "Growth infrastructure / experimentation loops."

- Bottom line: this is a team that **mass-produces AI tools in overseas and China-store versions and pays back through subscriptions bought with paid acquisition** . 趣鉴宝 is one more category test in their lineup: the bundle suffixes `.iosgn` / `.gn` mark the China-store version.

### III. Competitors

| Product | Channel | Launched | Scale | How it differs from 趣鉴宝 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General LLMs like Doubao / Yuanbao / DeepSeek | Big-company features | 2023–2025 | Hundreds of millions of users | Free, and you can ask by snapping a photo; a 2026-08 article says "AI appraisal exploded in 2026," but most people use general-purpose AI. 趣鉴宝 is a dedicated wrapper that charges ¥68/week. |
| Weipaitang, Yujian, Huaxia Collection, Longcang and similar | iOS / Android | 2014–2018 | 微拍堂 3,891, 域鉴 4,296, 龘藏 5,799 ratings (iTunes cn) | Trading, auction, and human-expert appraisal platforms; 趣鉴宝 does only AI identification and valuation, no trading |
| 万物鉴宝 (mini program), "玉王朝"-style AI jade appraisal | Mini programs / others | 2025–2026 | 玉王朝 8 months, 30k users, GMV in the millions (Sina / 山海视频 2026-02-20) | Free preliminary screening plus paid expert review, some connected to trading; 趣鉴宝 is a pure app subscription |
| AI鉴宝: 专业AI古董… (Sheng Yong Loh) | iOS | 2026-04 | cn 2 ratings, never charted | Same concept, Chinese name, no advertising found |
| Vintiq / Reliqua / Legaci / Antique Identifier / Curio | iOS (Chinese localized versions by overseas developers) | 2024–2026 | cn 0–5 ratings each, never charted in the China store; Curio US 17,200 ratings, AntiqSnap US 31,491 ratings (the overseas core) | Overseas antique identifiers translated into Chinese and listed casually, with no China-store ad spend; 趣鉴宝 was built specifically for China-store paid acquisition |
| AntiqSnap / Curio / Antique Identifier - Relic | iOS overseas | 2024-07–2025-10 | US Reference Top Grossing ranks 12–55 (appstore library) | This category has already proven it can make money overseas. AntiqSnap is not sold in the China store (lookup cn 0 results) |
| Duobao antique porcelain guide, coin price lookup, etc. | iOS | 2023–2026 | Duobao 606 ratings | Catalogs and reference libraries, no photo-based AI valuation |
| Pipi Appraisal, Huiliu Appraisal Taobao | iOS | 2023–2025 | cn Top Grossing category rank 14 / Top Free 123 (shopping category) | Transaction-oriented (jade, cultural toys), not tools |

Key finding: on the China-store Reference chart, **趣鉴宝 is the only Chinese antique-identification app that has charted** (the appstore library was scanned region-wide by name for 鉴宝 / 古董 / 古玩 / antique). Overseas, this category is crowded (AntiqSnap, Curio, Relic, AntiqWise, Antique ID…); their Chinese versions are also listed, but nobody is buying China-store ads for them. 趣鉴宝 is an arbitrage play across regions: "validated overseas, nobody paying for it domestically."

### IV. Growth levers (where users come from)

1. **Paid acquisition (inferred, strong)** : category Top Grossing rank 35, Top Free rank 46, with only 1 ratings; from 11-04 to 11-06 the Top Free rank rose 77 places in two days while Top Grossing climbed in step, with ratings unchanged. That is the typical curve of a budget increase. Domestic subscription tool apps usually buy through Oceanengine (Douyin ads), Pangle, and Tencent Ads; we don't have those ad libraries and captured no creatives, so this is marked unconfirmed. The app privacy label declares "Data used to track you: Identifiers," which fits attribution-dependent paid-acquisition apps.

2. **Store search (partial)** : in the iTunes search API (China store), searching "古董" ranks it #3 (ahead are 微拍堂 and 域鉴), and "古玩" ranks it #9; the subtitle "智能识别古董文玩，分析年代、材质与价值" covers the main keywords. API ordering doesn't necessarily match real in-store search ranking, so this is marked partially confirmed.

3. **Content / creators** : searching "趣鉴宝" on Douyin (via TikHub) returns no videos related to this app; results are all appraisal streamers and AI short dramas. X and x-radar show zero discussion; no RedNote posts or press coverage found. Confirmed: **no organic content spread** .

4. **Android channels seeded in parallel** : Xiaomi app store (1.0.4,11-04 update) and 289 mobile-game download sites (SEO-filled pages that even describe a "community" feature the app doesn't have) suggest Android distribution in China is being seeded too.

### V. Why it took off

- **Demand was built by appraisal livestreams** : 听泉赏宝 has over 37M Douyin followers (Wikipedia, 2025-03), making appraisal shows mass entertainment; by 2026, "how much is this worth according to AI" had become a household habit (什么值得买 2026-08-22). The target user skews middle-aged and older, has old objects at home, is curious, doesn't compare prices, and isn't sensitive to a one-time ¥68.

- **Cross-region arbitrage** : overseas antique identifiers have already proven they can make money (AntiqSnap US 31k ratings, Reference Top Grossing rank 12), yet nobody is seriously buying China-store ads. The team already had overseas code (InstaAntique), so the cost of reskinning is low.

- **High pricing can fund paid acquisition** : ¥68/week plus ¥168/year, so one weekly subscription roughly covers the cost of several installs. The Reference category's Top Grossing bar is low; a few dozen purchases can land in the top 50 (inferred).

- **The team is already a paid-acquisition machine** : the same entity has run the "overseas + China + subscription" playbook with RevMod / 酷车AI, Boomio, and short dramas; 趣鉴宝 is a reuse of that process.

### VI. Differentiation

There is almost no product differentiation: features (photo recognition, era and material analysis, valuation ranges, item details) match the dozen-plus overseas antique identifiers and Doubao domestically, or are even thinner (no community, no trading, no updates). Its real difference is **market and playbook** : a Chinese name and keywords, deliberate China-store ad spend, and a high-priced weekly subscription. That difference is why it charted. The product itself is no moat; anyone can copy it, and free general LLMs can do the same job, so retention and renewal are likely weak (inferred).

### 7. Visibility and copycats

- Visibility: **few people know about it yet** . No disclosed revenue, no press, X, Douyin, or RedNote discussion, and 1 ratings in the China store.

- Copycats: Chinese-named apps in the same concept (AI treasure appraisal, Vintiq Chinese version, antique identification: artwork recognition and relic appraisal) already existed and launched earlier, so none of them is a copy of it. I found no new copycats appearing after it charted.

### VIII. Takeaways

- Cross-region arbitrage: AI identification categories validated on overseas Reference / Utilities charts (antiques, coins, rocks, plants, sports cards…). If the China chart doesn't have them yet, ship a Chinese-named version with Chinese keywords and buy into it.

- Domestic paid-acquisition pricing: ¥68/week as the anchor, ¥168/year to push conversion; categories like Reference have low bars, so small spend can chart, and charting brings some organic installs.

- Productize as a matrix: the same "photo → AI analysis → report → paywall" template, swapped across categories and regions and shipped in batches; scale the budget on whichever one shows ROI.

- Risks: Apple's review of 4.3 reskins / clones, complaints and refunds on high-priced weekly subscriptions, and misleading AI appraisal results (a 什么值得买 article is already warning about the "AI quotes sky-high prices" scam chain).

### 9. What I'm still unsure about

- Ad channels, creatives, and cost per install (we don't have Oceanengine or Tencent Ads libraries); whether ROI turns positive.

- Actual revenue: what revenue corresponds to China-store Reference Top Grossing rank 35; no reliable conversion exists.

- Renewal and refund rates; whether 1 ratings reflect no prompting for reviews or simply few users.

- Whether InstaAntique's overseas iOS version was never listed or was listed under another name; the equity relationship between EASTERLY and 北京老虎创想 (only the bundle ID and store developer name match; business registration not checked).

- Whether the Android "under maintenance" status is a takedown remediation or a temporary state.
