> Mexicans search "fast loans" on the App Store every day. It stuffed those terms into the name and forced users to leave a good rating before revealing their credit limit. Under the name of a licensed lender it passed review, and it landed on the Finance free chart.

# Get 600 pesos in hand 340: a 4.8-rated Mexican cash-loan app using impersonated identities that passed regulatory checks

**What it is** A small-loan app listed only on iPhone in Mexico: register with a phone number, upload your ID, and the money is sent once approved.

**Why it took off** Mexicans search "quick loan" on the App Store all day. The app puts those words in its name, forces users to leave a good review before revealing the credit limit, and passed review by borrowing a licensed lender's name, then climbed the free Finance chart.

**E** **How you could follow it** Don't copy this model. If you want to do Mexican finance, build the legitimate things next to it, such as tools that check whether a loan app is legitimate, and manage debt and repayment reminders. Find users in debtor Facebook groups and on "préstamos" search terms.

E grade: anyone without a license and lending capital can't follow it. The only ways in are borrowed names, forced ratings, and aggressive collection, which are illegal and violate Apple's rules too. The app itself uses the impersonated identities CONDUSEF named, and dozens of copycats in the category are still launching one after another. Few people know about it yet

In Oct 2, a small-loan app called MorhPlata appeared on the Mexican App Store. In one month it collected over 3,700 ratings, averaging 4.8 stars, and sat between #30–40 and #60-something on the Finance Top Free chart. It looks like a financial product gaining traction. Look closer and you find it climbs a category with dozens of similar apps through search terms, forced positive reviews, and the name of a licensed lender. The contact email it lists in the store is identical to the one in the "people impersonating this company" notice the Mexican Financial Consumer Protection Agency (CONDUSEF) issued in June this year. Below: how it got here, why you shouldn't follow it, and what in this case is worth taking.

### A 1-star review

In Nov 4, a Mexican user gave MorhPlata 1 stars with the title "NO LA DESCARGUEN" (don't download it):

> hice un préstamo por 600, para empezar solo te mandan 340 a pagar a una sola semana los 600

She borrowed 600 pesos, received 340, and owed 600 a week later. She wrote that the day before repayment she was added to a group where people threatened to spread false stories about her; after she repaid, someone else contacted her saying she hadn't paid by 7 and must pay another 1,500.

This isn't a one-off. Another 1-star review from Oct 27 explains where its 4.8 rating comes from:

> te obligan a calificarlos antes de que te digan el monto del préstamo así que por eso los califican bien a fuerzas

Without a rating, you don't find out how much they approve, so everyone's forced into giving five stars. The same page has reviews saying "they transferred money without consent," "they sent messages to my family, with ugly photos and videos," and "I paid it off and the next day they said I owed the same amount again" (App Store Mexico reviews, 10-27 to 11-04). In the latest 50 reviews, these long 1-star complaints sit among a pile of 5-star "Excelente" and "Buena app."

### What it is

A cash-loan app listed only on iOS in Mexico: sign up with a phone number, fill in your details, upload your INE ID and bank card, and if approved, the money gets sent. The store page lists nice terms: 91 to 365 days, 500 to 20,000 pesos, up to 18% annual interest, 18.25% CAT (total cost of credit), no management fee, plus a worked example of borrowing 10k pesos for 120 days.

This whole block is the standard approval template for this category, and near-identical paragraphs show up on other front-company store pages. Apple has hard requirements for personal loan apps (a minimum term of 60 days, a maximum APR of 36%), and the template is written to match them. What users describe in reviews is what actually gets run: due in 7 days, funds cut by 40% at disbursement, and collections starting before the due date (inference based on reviews; loan volume and real rates aren't visible from outside).

### How it took off

**The category itself has traffic.** In Nov 6, Mexico's App Store Finance free chart had 210 apps in total. Going by developer names containing SOFOM (a Mexican non-bank lending company) or app names containing presta / crédito / dinero, roughly 64 were loan apps, and 11 of those launched after October. People with no credit history who need a few hundred pesos fast search "préstamos" every day, and each new front-company app takes a slice.

**The name is the search term.** It has been renamed several times: MorhPlata → MorhPlata-prestamos sin buro ("no credit check") → MorhPlata-prestamos rapidos ("fast loans"). In Apple's "Customers also bought" section, it sits alongside similar apps like Dinero Total, Sí Presta, and DineroGo.

**Forced ratings.** It collected 26 ratings in its first 2,553 days, then added 50 to 250 a day, reaching 3,664 by Nov 6 (App Store Mexico rating count). Because the app only grants credit after you rate it, the rating count is inflated, and real downloads are probably lower than the rating count suggests (inference).

| Date | Finance free chart | Total ratings | Added that day |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-29 | 34 | 2,634 | 81 |
| 10-30 | 57 | 2,887 | 253 |
| 11-02 | 61 | 3,188 | 49 |
| 11-06 | 45 | 3,664 | 196 |

**Cover from a licensed company.** The developer account name is Recursos Morh Capital, S.A. de C.V., SOFOM, E.N.R., a properly registered lending company. This is what lets it get through Apple's finance-category review. It isn't on Google Play, which imposes licensing requirements and stricter checks on Mexican loan apps (inference).

No sign of TikTok or Facebook ads for it, and no media or influencer has mentioned it (not finding it doesn't mean it wasn't advertised). The only real-person discussion I found was in a Facebook debtors' group called "DENUNCIA DE FINANCIERAS & APLICACIONES DE PRESTAMOS" (Report financial firms & loan apps), where someone posted in Nov 5 that the MorhPlata page was stuck.

### The licensed company was actually reported

In Jun 2026 10, CONDUSEF issued Notice No. 087: in May, nine lending companies reported to regulators that they had been impersonated, and Recursos Morh Capital was one of them. The notice lists the real company's and the impersonator's details side by side:

| | Real company | Impersonator |
|---|---|---|
| Website | None | recursosmorh.com |
| Email | recursosmorhcapital@gmail.com | support@recursosmorh.com |
| Phone | (55) 6818 4970 | 52 (595) 123 4567 |
| Address | Huexotla, Tesco Emiliano Zapata, no street number, office 6 | Same as left |

The bottom "Contact us" section of the MorhPlata store page lists support@recursosmorh.com and that same address (App Store page and CONDUSEF notice text, 11-06 cross-checked). Whether the Apple developer account was registered by the impersonator using this company's details, or whether the company later started using this domain itself, can't be verified from outside. But the app uses impersonation details that the regulator publicly named, and that part is certain.

### Who it's competing with

Dozens, and more keep arriving one after another.

| App | Launched | Rating count (Mexico store, 11-06) | New in the last 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| CashMex | 2024-12 | 39,771 | 1,010 |
| Starpresta | 2026-03 | 14,700 | 808 |
| MexDinero | 2026-08 | 14,085 | 1,461 |
| Taco Préstamos | 2026-08 | 9,313 | 725 |
| MoneyMex | 2026-10-28 | 738 | 730 |
| MorhPlata | 2026-10-02 | 3,664 | 777 |

MoneyMex, launched 26 days later, matched its growth within a week. In the same month, KrediYa, Sí Presta, Dinero Punto, Mexicash, and Monvero also appeared. At the other end are Nu, Plata, Stori, and Klar, licensed banks and regulated fintechs with rating counts between 47k and 360k, consistently in the top 20 of the finance chart. They sell credit cards and savings, and they don't rely on forced ratings.

MorhPlata and its peers look no different from each other as products. The only difference is whose company name they borrowed and which bundle ID they use. How long these front-company apps last depends on when Apple pulls them, and when one is pulled, the next one replaces it.

### What's legitimately worth taking

- **Mexico's free finance chart has a low bar.** With 50 to 200 new ratings a day, you can rank 30 to 70. A legitimate tool for bookkeeping, price comparison, credit score checks, or payment reminders gets far cheaper exposure here than in the US store.

- **Spanish-language finance categories follow search terms.** Putting words users actually search for, like "sin buró" and "rápido," in the name and subtitle, and swapping them as search trends shift, clearly works for this category.

- **The demand is real.** Large numbers of Mexicans with no credit history, and people burned by predatory loan apps, warn each other in Facebook groups about which lenders are scams. Tools that help them tell the difference, seek redress, or manage their debts are something I haven't seen anyone build seriously.

Forcing ratings, using a licensed firm's name without authorization, and group threats and harassment of contacts are against the rules in Mexico, potentially illegal, and violate Apple's policies. None of that falls under "worth learning from."

### If it were you

**One-line verdict:** Don't follow. This is a gray-market lending category already crowded with front companies, and MorhPlata uses impersonation details that the regulator has named publicly. Copying it puts you in the same notice.

**Who it suits:** No one. Companies that actually hold SOFOM licenses and have lending capital and risk controls don't need to learn anything from this app; their competitors are Kueski, DiDi Préstamos, and Nu.

**Who it doesn't suit:** Any indie developer or small team hoping to make money by "building a loan shell app and listing it in Mexico." Without a license, borrowing someone else's is exactly what this article describes; lending requires capital, and bad debt and collections are a separate business; Apple and CONDUSEF are both watching.

**If you really want to do something in this market:** Build the legitimate things next to it. Make a tool that tells Mexican users whether a loan app is legitimate, with CONDUSEF's institution registry and impersonation notices searchable. Or build payment reminders and multi-loan debt management. For acquisition, go to those debtors' Facebook groups, and to App Store search terms like "préstamos" and "buró de crédito." A few hundred ratings a day on the free finance chart is enough to get seen.

**When to do it:** No rush. This demand is constant, new front companies appear every month, and the window doesn't close just because someone else entered it.

**What would show this read is wrong:** If MorhPlata were shown to be run by that SOFOM itself, with rates and terms really following the store page, and it stayed on the charts stably for more than six months, that would suggest there is a compliant lending path here, worth a fresh look from someone properly licensed. Until then, treat it as a sample of Mexico's cash-loan gray market.

Where users come from

- **Verified** **App Store search, keyword ASO, and category charts** : "prestamos rapidos / sin buro" stuffed into the app name, repeatedly renamed; consistently ranked #34–#67 on the Finance free chart; listed in Apple's "Customers also bought" next to many similar loan apps

- **Verified** **Forced ratings to inflate score and rating count** : 2026-10-27's 1-star reviews say you must rate before you learn your credit limit; in the latest 97 reviews, 88 are 5-star, mostly one- or two-word comments

- Inference **Word of mouth in Facebook debtors' groups** : posts discussing MorhPlata appear in the "DENUNCIA DE FINANCIERAS & APLICACIONES DE PRESTAMOS" group 2026-11-05

### Bottom line

A typical "préstamos rápidos" micro-loan app on Mexico's iOS App Store. It's yet another clone in a category that's already crowded. It's getting traction not on product, but on three things: heavy search demand for "préstamos" on the App Store, a 4.8-star rating built from forced reviews, and listing under a licensed SOFOM's name. What matters more: the contact details it leaves in the store (website recursosmorh.com, email support@recursosmorh.com) match exactly the details left by **the impersonator using the Recursos Morh Capital name** in CONDUSEF 2026-06-10 notice No. 087 from Mexico's Financial Consumer Protection Agency. User reviews describe discounted disbursements (borrow 600, receive 340), repayment due in 7 days, collection threats, and harassment of the borrower's contacts. This isn't a product worth copying. It's a gray-market playbook worth recognizing.

Source: appstore library app_day / app_snapshot (mx). The Apple lookup API gave 2026-11-06 ratings on the day, averaging 3,776 4.79.

- Listed only in Mexico. Its best rank across all categories and the overall chart was #34 on the Finance free chart (10-29); it has never charted on the overall or Top Grossing charts (lending revenue doesn't go through Apple In-App Purchase, so Top Grossing can't show it).

- After 26 days live it has collected 2,553 ratings, about 98 a day on average; 7 in the last 777 days. By rating count, it sits mid-pack among Mexican loan apps.

- The average rating has stayed around 4.80, unusually high for a cash loan app (see section 4 for why).

- The name has changed several times: "MorhPlata" → "MorhPlata-prestamos sin buro" → "MorhPlata-prestamos rapidos" (earlier titles caught by Exa / AppInsider), constantly swapping search keywords (ASO).

- Not on Google Play (googleplay library found nothing by name, developer, domain, or email); iOS only.

### 2. Competitors: dozens of players doing the same thing

| Product | Launched | Score | New ratings in the last 7 days | Best category-chart position | How it differs from MorhPlata |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MexDinero(Rendiactiv SOFOM) | 2026-08-16 | 14,085 | 1,461 | 30 | A similar front-company app, launched 6 weeks earlier, with 2x its volume |
| CashMex(Innovación y Liquidez SOFOM) | 2024-12-31 | 39,771 | 1,010 | 32 | Old clone, strong rating base |
| Starpresta(Ziraat Capital SOFOM) | 2026-03-26 | 14,700 | 808 | 58 | Peers |
| MoneyMex(Oportunify SOFOM) | 2026-10-28 | 738 | 730 | 27 | 26 days later, it matches its growth within a week |
| Taco Préstamos(Financiera GMX) | 2026-08-27 | 9,313 | 725 | 47 | Peers |
| KrediYa / Sí Presta / Dinero Total / Dinero Punto | 2026-09~10 | 180–1,110 | 110–391 | 61–167 | New clones from the same period |
| Nu, Plata, Stori, Klar | 2014–2023 | 47k–360k | — | 3–20 | Licensed bank or proper fintech, with a brand, credit cards and deposits, and no forced reviews |

Google Play and the web have plenty of similar apps too (legit ones like Kueski and DiDi Préstamos, plus a big batch of SOFOM clones). I didn't check them one by one this time. **Compared with these rivals, MorhPlata shows no product difference at all** : the terms in its store description (91–365 days, APR up to 18%, CAT 18.25%, limit 500–20,000 Mexican pesos) are the approval template used across the whole category. Tadan Dinero and Cashmore have the same paragraph in their descriptions too (appstore library, app_text).

### 3. Where users come from

| Channel | Evidence | Verified? |
|---|---|---|
| App Store search and category charts | Keyword-stuffed name ("prestamos rapidos / sin buro"), changed repeatedly; has held #34–67 on the Finance free chart; Apple's "customers also bought" lists it alongside Dinero Total, Emax Crédito, DineroGo and Sí Presta, all same-category apps (apps.apple.com see-all=customers-also-bought page) | Yes (indirectly) |
| Forced reviews, pushing the rating up and inflating the rating count | A 2026-10-27-star review from 1: "te obligan a calificarlos antes de que te digan el monto del préstamo así que por eso los califican bien a fuerzas" (you have to rate before they tell you how much you're approved for, so that's why everyone rates it well). In the latest 97 reviews, 88 are 5-star, mostly just a word or two like "Excelente", "Buena app", "Luis". | Yes (user testimony + rating distribution) |
| Word of mouth among debtors and Facebook groups | A debtor-run FB group, "DENUNCIA DE FINANCIERAS & APLICACIONES DE PRESTAMOS", has a 2026-11-05 post: "Así se queda desde ayer no avanza es MorhPlata De iOS" | Only shows it gets mentioned in this circle; it doesn't prove an acquisition channel |
| Paid acquisition (Meta / TikTok) | TikHub search for "MorhPlata" returns no relevant videos; x-radar shows 0 posts in the last 30 days; our ad library doesn't track it | No evidence found (not finding it doesn't mean it wasn't run) |
| Media, creators | None found | No |

How the money comes back (inferred from reviews): reviews say the upfront fee is deducted at disbursement (borrow 600, receive 340), the term is only 7 days, and late payments get threats in collection groups and messages to contacts. The 91-day minimum and 18% APR in the store listing are there to pass Apple's review rules (Apple requires personal loans to run at least 60 days with APR under 36%), while the actual model is short-term and high-cost. This is standard practice for Mexican cash-loan clones. Users don't discuss its pricing; this is inferred from reviews.

### 4. Why it charted

1. **Demand is there, the bar is low** : people without credit history urgently need small cash loans, and that demand is constant. About a third of Mexico's Finance free chart is loan apps, so a new clone can ride the category's search volume as soon as it launches. MorhPlata didn't open a new market; it just took a share of a category that's already heavily advertised.

2. **Licensed SOFOM shell plus approval template** : the developer account uses the name of a properly registered SOFOM, E.N.R., and the description copies the compliance template (91–365 days, 18%), which gets it through Apple's finance review.

3. **Forced reviews** : you rate before you see your limit. High scores help it rank better in store search and category charts and look more credible, and the rating count gets inflated. So its "rating growth" can't be used directly as a proxy for downloads; real downloads may be lower than the rating count suggests.

4. **iOS only** : Google Play requires licensing documents for Mexican personal-loan apps and checks closely, so it simply skips Play (this is inferred).

### 5. Risk signals (what decides whether it's worth studying)

- **CONDUSEF notice No. 087 (2026-06-10)** : in May 2026, nine financial institutions reported impersonation to CONDUSEF, and Recursos Morh Capital, S.A. de C.V., SOFOM, E.N.R. is one of them. The notice compares two sets of details as follows:
    - Real institution: website "Sin dato" (no website), email recursosmorhcapital@gmail.com, phone (55) 6818 4970
    - Impersonator: website **[recursosmorh.com/index.html**](https://recursosmorh.com/index.html**), email** support@recursosmorh.com**, phone 52 (595) 123 4567
    - MorhPlata's App Store description lists **support@recursosmorh.com** , with the same address (Emiliano Zapata S/N, Oficina 6, Huexotla, Texcoco).
    - So this app uses the contact details of the impersonator that CONDUSEF has already publicly named. Whether the impersonator registered the Apple developer account using this company's D-U-N-S number, or the real institution later used this domain itself, **hasn't been verified** .
    - Sources: [www.condusef.gob.mx/documentos/prensa/Comunicado%200087.pdf](https://www.condusef.gob.mx/documentos/prensa/Comunicado%200087.pdf); [www.gob.mx/condusef/prensa/la-comision-nacional-para-la-prot…](https://www.gob.mx/condusef/prensa/la-comision-nacional-para-la-proteccion-y-defensa-de-los-usuarios-de-servicios-financieros-condusef-informa-que-durante-el-mes-de-mayo-de-2026)

- **Negative reviews** (Apple Mexico review RSS; 7 of the latest 97 are 1-star):
    - "hice un préstamo por 600 … solo te mandan 340 a pagar a una sola semana" (I borrowed 600, they only sent me 340, and I had to repay it in one week)
    - "te agregan a un grupo y te empiezan a amenazar" (they add you to a group and start threatening you)
    - "Te depositan sin autorización … le mandan mensajes a tus familiares" (they deposit money without permission and message your family)
    - "Liquidé mi único crédito … y hoy me están amenazando que debo la misma cantidad" (I paid off my only loan and today they're threatening me that I still owe the same amount)
    - These match the complaints about predatory loan apps common in Mexico.

- Apple could pull it at any time, so its lifespan is short. The playbook for this category is simply clones launched one after another.

### 6. Awareness and copycats

- No media coverage, nobody on X is talking about it (x-radar 0 posts), and there's no TikTok content. What you can find online is auto-generated pages from AppGazers, AppInsider and Similarweb, plus one post in a debtors' FB group.

- **Almost nobody in public circles knows** about this app. As a category, though, "Mexican cash-loan clone apps" has long been well known in the going-global circles and to regulators.

- Copycats: it's a copycat itself. Other new clones from the same period include MoneyMex (launched 10-28), KrediYa (10-14), Sí Presta (10-15), Dinero Punto (10-13), Mexicash (10-13) and Monvero (10-29), and more keep launching.

### 7. Differentiation

No product differentiation. Its only difference from rivals is which SOFOM's name it borrows, plus a new bundle ID. It gets traction through distribution tactics (keyword ASO, forced reviews, a licensed shell plus the approval template), not through anything new.

### 8. What's worth borrowing (only the legitimate parts)

- The bar to chart on Mexico's iOS Finance free chart is low: roughly 50–200 new ratings a day can hold you at #30–70, which makes it cheap exposure for a legitimate finance or money tool.

- Stuffing keywords into the app name and rotating them periodically works well in Spanish-language finance categories.

- Forced reviews, impersonating a licensed institution, and abusive collection are all policy violations, and some are illegal. Don't touch them.

### 9. Still unclear

- Who actually controls the Apple developer account: the impersonator, or a real SOFOM whose name was borrowed or whose license was sold.

- Real download numbers and lending volume: forced ratings distort the conversion from rating count to downloads.

- Whether it runs ads on Meta or TikTok (our ad library doesn't track it).

- When Apple might pull it or CONDUSEF might name it.
