Stitch Garden: Cross Stitch · Taras Pavliuchyn

# 10 ratings took it to #1 on Ukraine's Top Paid chart: a cross-stitch app from a Kyiv developer, built on a wave of local stitching bloggers

**What it is** An iPhone and Android app that opens cross-stitch chart files (.xsd/.oxs/.pat/PDF), lets you mark finished stitches cell by cell, highlight one color, and calculates thread and fabric needs. One-time purchase of $5.99–6.99.

**Why it took off** Pattern Keeper, widely regarded as the best cross-stitch tool, has no iPhone version. The existing paid alternatives in the Ukrainian store cost $19, couldn't open PDFs, and their users were mainly in Russia. This one is a Ukrainian-made app in Ukrainian. In late October several local cross-stitch YouTubers recommended it together, and the small-country paid chart has a low bar, so within dozens of downloads it reached #1.

**B** **How you could follow it** Don't compete in Ukraine or the English market. Copy the playbook for a different place: pick a country with a strong handicraft culture where the similar apps have no native-language version, or switch to a craft like diamond painting or knitting charts that works cell by cell from a pattern. Build a native-language interface with a one-time purchase, and line up 5–10 mid-sized local creators to recommend it in the same week.

Grade B: a clear playbook, few people know about it, no server costs, and it can be copied across countries and crafts. But each language market is small, so the income only supports a side project. The English market is already crowded, and once Pattern Keeper releases an iOS version, apps like this will take a hit. Not many people know about it yet

A programmer on a Java team in Kyiv built an app that lets people view cross-stitch charts on an iPhone and tick off stitches one by one. It sells for $5.99, one-time purchase. Less than three weeks after launch, it held #1 on Ukraine's App Store Lifestyle Top Paid chart for seven straight days, and its best overall Top Paid rank was #17. It has only 10 ratings worldwide, 8 of them from Ukraine. In features it's similar to a dozen or so competitors that appeared this year. What got it going is language and channel: it's in Ukrainian, and the people promoting it are Ukrainian cross-stitch creators. Below: how it grew, how big the audience is, and whether this playbook can work again with another country or another craft.

### a 3,308-view video

On Oct 31, 2026, Ukrainian cross-stitch creator Vladislava Stitch posted a roughly hour-long chatty video titled 《Різдвяний янгол від ЛЕЛІ 😍 Новий додаток Stitch Garden та мої вишивальні новини》(A Christmas angel from LELI 😍 The new Stitch Garden app and my latest embroidery news). By Nov 6 it had 3,308 views (YouTube, 11-06).

Also around Oct 31, Stitch Garden first showed up on the Ukraine store chart, debuting at #1 in Lifestyle Top Paid. Over the next few days several channels posted videos: Ольга Лукова's "Тестую новий застосунок Stitch Garden" ("Testing a new app, Stitch Garden") with 1,276 views, Lisovushka_Stitches' review with 1,149 views, and Victoria Cross Stitch's #393 vlog put it right in the title: "Новий український застосунок «Stitch garden»" ("A new Ukrainian app, Stitch Garden"), 2,143 views (YouTube, 11-06). By Nov 6, it had held #1 on the Ukraine Lifestyle Top Paid chart for seven straight days, and its overall Top Paid rank climbed from #33 to #17–19 (App Store Ukraine store, 10-31 to 11-06).

These videos add up to under ten thousand views. On Ukraine's Top Paid chart, that's enough.

### What it actually does

Cross-stitch fans buying a pattern usually get a PDF exported from design software, or a source file in formats like .xsd, .oxs or .pat. While stitching, you have to track hundreds of symbols, count how many same-colour squares are left in a row, and cross off each block when you finish it. Stitch Garden moves all of that onto your phone and tablet:

- Open Pattern Maker (.xsd), Open Cross Stitch (.oxs), PCStitch (.pat) and PDFs exported from software. Black-and-white symbol charts also read fine; photos and scans don't.

- Tap or drag to mark finished squares. Highlight a single thread colour to see how many same-colour stitches are still left in that row or column, use parking to keep your place, and frame a working area.

- Keep a stitching diary, work out how much thread and fabric you need, and export your progress as a vertical time-lapse video. The store description says it's "great for Reels and TikTok."

- No sign-up, no ads, no data collection. iPhone and iPad sync through the user's own iCloud; the Android version uses the user's own Google Drive.

Prices: $6.99 US store, $5.99 Ukraine, 29.99 zł Poland, $5.99 Google Play, all one-time purchases (App Store, 11-06). The interface has 11 languages, including Ukrainian and Polish, and the website has a Ukrainian version too.

Developer Taras Pavliuchyn has only this one app. According to his LinkedIn, he leads a Java team at a Kyiv outsourcing company, so building this app on the side is our inference. The app launched in Oct 12; by Nov 6 it was at version 1.3.5, with 7 releases in the past week, and the website's header says "we add new features and fix bugs every day."

### Why Ukraine, specifically

This need was already met. The cross-stitch community's favourite is Pattern Keeper, but it's Android-only, and its website has long said the iOS version is "in early development" with no date. Pattern shops even ship a separate "Pattern Keeper PDF" with their charts. iPhone users have been looking for an alternative.

The English-language market for this gap has already filled up this year: 2026 from February to September, iOS saw a dozen-plus cross-stitch tracking apps pop up, including Stitchwork, StitchGrid, Evenweave, and StitchStash. A comparison article from Oct 23 listed 13 of them in one go. Almost all were built by solo indie devs, and most still sit at 0 to a few dozen ratings. Stitch Garden itself has 0 ratings in the US store, and ranks #42 in the Lifestyle Top Paid chart (App Store, 11-06).

Ukraine is different. Embroidery (вишивка) is a mainstream hobby there, and YouTube has a whole circle of stitching creators who post monthly progress and show off their latest purchases. Before Stitch Garden, the established paid app Ukrainian iPhone users could buy was Cross Stitch Saga: $19 in the Ukraine store, it can't open ordinary PDFs, and most of its ratings come from Russia (608 in the Russia store, 102 in Ukraine). Stitch Garden costs under a third as much, opens PDFs, has a Ukrainian interface, and was made by a Ukrainian. Creators putting "a new Ukrainian app" in their video titles is itself a selling point.

User reviews reflect this. The four reviews visible in the Ukraine store are all five stars; the Oct 15 one says:

"Clean interface that works well, with some features other similar apps don't have, like selecting a working area and locking out the squares outside it. When stitching a multi-colour chart, being able to do it a small section at a time is really handy." (App Store Ukraine, 10-15, originally in Ukrainian)

Another, in English: "I can add as many charts as I want, and progress syncs instantly with my iPad, so I switch between my two devices while stitching." (10-14)

### Scale

Volume is small.

| Metric | Metric | Source / date |
|---|---|---|
| Global ratings | 10-28 for 0,11-06 for 10, of which Ukraine 8 | App Store,11-06 |
| Ukraine | Lifestyle Top Paid #1 (around 10-31 daily), overall Top Paid #17–19 | App Store Ukraine |
| Other charting stores | Italy, Latvia, Spain, Poland, Denmark, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway and the US, all in Lifestyle Top Paid | App Store, 11-01 to 11-06 |
| Android | About 119 installs | Google Play,11-06 |

Ukraine's overall Top Paid chart is at #17–19, roughly dozens of paid downloads a day; at $5.99 that works out to an estimated $100–200 a day in revenue. Lifestyle Top Paid in small European countries has a low bar, so one or two downloads can reach the top 20. The "charting in 11 countries" is therefore mostly sporadic purchases from Ukrainians abroad and Eastern European users, our inference, and doesn't mean those markets have actually opened up.

### Where users come from

- **Ukrainian cross-stitch YouTubers** . From Oct 31 to Nov 3, at least 5 channels posted introductions in a cluster, each video getting 200 to 3,300 views. The chart climb happened right in those days.

- **Instagram and Facebook** . The official account @stitchgardenapp uses only Ukrainian and its slogan is "Вишивання з комфортом" (stitching in comfort); it posts sync demos and announces the Android launch. Creators' Reels include "Буду пробувати новий застосунок @stitchgardenapp" (I'm going to try this new app), and Ольга Лукова's Facebook video opens with "Girls, I want to recommend a new app to you..."

- **Is it paid promotion?** Several mid-sized and small creators posted videos within three or four days, which looks like the developer reached out and sent redemption codes, but we found no partnership or ad disclosure in the videos. Inference.

- **What's absent** : no paid ads, nothing on X, Reddit or TikTok, no press coverage. A $5.99 one-time purchase model can't fund paid acquisition either.

One less obvious driver: fast iteration. The Ukraine reviews all describe specific features, creators make requests, and a few days later the feature shows up in a new version, like the "lock colour" option added in Nov 6. In a small community where dozens of creators visit each other's channels, shipping fast gets noticed and gets talked about.

### Who it's competing with

| Competitors | What it is | Scale | Compared with alternatives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pattern Keeper | Industry standard, about $9 one-time | Pattern shops make PDFs specifically for it | Android only; once an iOS version ships, every similar app takes a hit |
| Cross Stitch Saga | A 2018-year-old app | Ratings: RU 608 / UA 102 / US 59 | Doesn't open PDFs; $19 in Ukraine store; older users mainly in Russia |
| Markup R-XP | General PDF annotation tool | US: 3,103 ratings | $19.99/year subscription, steep learning curve |
| MyCozyApp | Free download with in-app purchases; has a Ukrainian-language site | 43 ratings in Ukraine | Its most direct rival in Ukraine |
| Ruta Stitch | Another Ukrainian team; converts PDFs to interactive charts; free download | Only 10-27 on iOS, 0 ratings; has a Facebook community and TikTok | Same country, same timing, same positioning: not copying each other, launching at the same time |
| Stitchwork, StitchGrid, Evenweave and others | A 2026-year-old new English iOS app | 0–36 ratings each | Similar features; none has taken off in the English market |

On features, everyone is pretty much level now. Stitch Garden's technical edge is reading all four formats and reading them accurately: during parsing it checks against the stitch counts printed on the chart and warns when it can't read something, rather than opening a wrong chart. But that isn't what made it take off. With the same features, English developers can't sell in the US store, and neither can Stitch Garden itself.

### Can you copy it?

The Ukrainian slot is already taken, and Ruta Stitch and MyCozyApp are competing for it too, so squeezing in makes no sense. The English market is a red ocean. What's worth borrowing is the playbook:

**A craft + a benchmark app that's missing on one platform + a language nobody has localised for + a circle of local mid-sized creators.**

There are a few directions to follow:

- **Switch countries** . Pick places with strong cross-stitch and embroidery culture, a decent share of iPhone users, and no native-language version of the similar apps, such as Poland, Czechia, Romania, Turkey, Japan or Brazil (our inference). First, search "cross-stitch" in each local App Store under its local term and see whether the top ten includes any app with a native-language interface.

- **Switch crafts** . Diamond painting, knitting and crochet charts, perler beads and Hardanger embroidery all involve working from a chart square by square, and all need progress tracking, colour highlighting and materials calculation.

- **Do what it doesn't do well** . Almost nobody reads paper charts from photos or scans accurately yet (Stitch Garden explicitly doesn't support them), and that's what older stitchers have the most of.

The cost structure suits a solo developer: one-time purchase, no sign-up, sync through the user's own iCloud or Google Drive, no server costs, so a $5.99 price can still make money.

### If it were you

**Verdict** : the playbook is real, few people know it, and copying it is cheap. But each language market is small; even a successful country only produces side-project income, and if Pattern Keeper ever ships an iOS version, apps like this will have a hard time.

**Who it suits** : solo developers who can build for iOS (ideally Android too), who themselves or whose family are in a crafting community, or who speak a minor language and can chat with creators there in their native tongue.

**Who it doesn't suit** : teams aiming for a large business that need subscription revenue and a growth curve, or anyone planning only an English version and relying on App Store search to bring users in. The English market already has a dozen similar apps waiting.

**How to do it:**

1. Get format parsing solid first: the formats and PDFs that the pattern shops in that country sell most often must read accurately, and when something can't be read, warn the user rather than forcing it open.

2. Native-language interface, website and store page; price based on local incomes and clearly below existing paid options there.

3. One-time purchase, no sign-up, sync through the user's own cloud, and no servers.

4. Launch on both iOS and Android with cross-device progress sync, since many people already use Pattern Keeper on Android.

**How to get users** : find 5 to 10 small local stitching creators on YouTube and Instagram who post monthly progress vlogs, send them redemption codes, and ask them to post in the same week; set up a native-language Instagram account that posts feature demos; and ship requests from creators' comments within days, then go back and tell them. Small countries have a low bar on paid charts: a few dozen downloads can push you to #1 in your category, and chart placement brings organic visibility in the store.

**When to act** : the sooner the better. Pattern Keeper's iOS version has no timeline, so this is the window. Whoever is the first native-language app that bloggers in each country push takes that circle, and later entrants struggle to get the same bloggers.

**What would mean we misread it** : once the Stitch Garden blogger wave passes, it drops off the Ukraine Top Paid chart within weeks and the rating count stalls at a dozen, meaning this kind of push only buys a short spike and doesn't retain. Or: you send a dozen codes in the target country, bloggers post videos, and a week later it still isn't in the top 20 of that country's Lifestyle Top Paid, meaning the craft community there is too small or someone already holds it.

## Stitch Garden: Cross Stitch (iOS id6816432339): why it took off

> Research date 2026-11-06. Sources: our appstore / googleplay databases (agent-im machine DuckDB), Apple lookup/search APIs, Jina/Exa web search and page fetching, x-radar, TikHub.

### Bottom line

A paid cross-stitch "digital pattern follow-along" app by a Ukrainian Java developer (iOS $6.99 / UA store $5.99, one-time purchase, Android version too). It took off **mainly thanks to a wave of YouTube / Instagram / Facebook blogger recommendations of a "new Ukrainian app" within the Ukrainian cross-stitch community** . Ukraine is a major cross-stitch country, and iPhone users long lacked Pattern Keeper (Android only). The only existing paid alternative, Cross Stitch Saga, costs $19, can't open PDFs, and its main users are in Russia. Stitch Garden comes with Ukrainian, opens PDFs, costs a third of Saga, and is made by Ukrainians, so it reached **#17–19 on the Ukraine overall Top Paid and #1 in Lifestyle Top Paid** , then spilled into Lifestyle Top Paid charts across Europe. Absolute scale is still small (10 ratings globally, 8 of them in Ukraine), and the category is already crowded in the English market.

### 1. What it is

- Opens Pattern Maker (.xsd), Open Cross Stitch (.oxs), PCStitch (.pat), and PDF charts exported from design software (including symbol-only black-and-white charts). On a phone or tablet you mark stitched cells one by one, highlight a single thread color, show the length of consecutive same-color runs, park stitches, select work areas, track journal stats, calculate thread and fabric needs, and export time-lapse video (vertical format for Reels/TikTok). Source: App Store description, official site [stitchgarden.app/](https://stitchgarden.app/)

- 11 languages (including Ukrainian and Polish), no sign-up, no ads, no data collection. iPhone/iPad sync goes through the user's own iCloud, Android through the user's own Google Drive. Sources: official site, Apple lookup `languageCodesISO2A`.

- Developer Taras Pavliuchyn; this is the only app on his App Store account. LinkedIn shows him as a Java team lead in Kyiv (Coro / Ciklum). Sources: [ua.linkedin.com/in/taras-pavliuchyn-62a59759](https://ua.linkedin.com/in/taras-pavliuchyn-62a59759), apps.apple.com/developer/id6816432552.

- First released 2026-10-12, current version 1.3.5 (2026-11-06). In the database, 10-31 is 1.2.5,11-06 is 1.3.5, and **7 versions shipped in one week** . The official site's header reads "We add new features and fix bugs every day."

- Prices: US $6.99, Ukraine $5.99, Poland 29.99 zł (app_day in database 2026-11-06); Google Play $5.99.

### 2. Data: how it took off (appstore database, from 2026-10-28)

| Store | First charted | Best rank | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| gb | 10-28 | Lifestyle Top Paid #33 | Earliest entry in database |
| **ua** | **10-31** | **Lifestyle Top Paid #1 (every day from 10-31 to 11-06 was 1)** ; overall Top Paid 33 → 18 → 17 → 19 | 8 ratings, adding roughly 1–2 almost daily since 11-02 |
| it | 11-01 | Lifestyle Top Paid #1 (11-03) | 0 rating |
| lv / es | 11-02 | 1 / 2 | |
| de | 11-02 | 7(11-04) | |
| ca | 11-03 | 9(11-05) | 1 ratings |
| dk | 11-05 | 5 | |
| nl / pl / no | 11-06 | 14 / 3 / 15 | |
| us | 10-31 | Lifestyle Top Paid #145 → #42 (11-06) | 0 rating |

- Global rating count: 10-28 was 0 → 11-06 is 10 (data card daily_all_countries); countries charted 1 → 11.

- Ratings are almost all in Ukraine: ua 8, ca 1, pl 1; 0 reviews ingested. Apple lookup Ukraine rating 5.0 (7 ratings).

- Android (com.ptar.stitchgarden): installs in the googleplay database 119; AppBrain shows 10+ downloads. The Android version was announced later on Instagram ("відтепер доступна для Android").

- Estimate: the Ukraine overall Top Paid bar is low, so #17–19 likely takes dozens of paid downloads a day (inferred, not verified). Small European countries' Lifestyle Top Paid bars are even lower, so 1–3 downloads can reach the top 20. The "11 countries charted" is therefore mostly scattered Ukrainians abroad and Eastern European users, not evidence those markets have taken off.

### 3. Competitors: who else does the same thing

The need, "put a purchased digital pattern into an app and tick off stitches one by one," is well established. The top player is Pattern Keeper, which is Android-only. On iOS, over 2026 years a wave of indie developers has tried to build "the iOS Pattern Keeper."

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale | How it differs from Stitch Garden |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pattern Keeper | Android | Years ago | De facto industry standard: pattern shops attach a "Pattern Keeper version PDF" directly. About $9 one-time. | Not on iOS. The official site says "iOS version in early development" with no timeline (patternkeeper.app). Stitch Garden fills that gap on iPhone. |
| Markup R-XP | iOS | 2021-05 | 3103 ratings in the US store, charted in pl/ie Lifestyle Top Grossing 86/126 | General PDF/image annotation tool, $19.99/year subscription, steep learning curve. Stitch Garden is one-time purchase and built specifically for cross stitch. |
| Cross Stitch Saga(Irina Kopylova) | iOS | 2018-10 | Russia 608 ratings, Ukraine 102, US 59; Ukraine Lifestyle Top Paid #9 | Only opens .xsd/.pat/.oxs, **doesn't open regular PDFs** . US store $15, Ukraine store $19; main users in Russia/Belarus. Stitch Garden adds PDF support, is cheaper by 2/3, and is made by Ukrainians. |
| MyCozyApp(MyCozyApp OU) | iOS/Android | 2025-01 | Ukraine 43 ratings, US 2 | Has a Ukrainian site, mycozyapp.com/ua, free download with in-app purchases. The most direct rival to Stitch Garden in Ukraine. |
| Ruta Stitch(Olesia Artymchuk) | iOS/Android/web | iOS 2026-10-27 | 0 ratings. Has a Facebook community "Рута - вишивка хрестиком" and TikTok @ruta.stitch | Also a Ukrainian team, focused on turning PDFs into interactive charts, free download. Recruiting testers publicly on Reddit. Same timing, same country, same positioning as Stitch Garden: a head-on rival rather than a copycat (it was already building). |
| Stitchwork(Christopher Hinckley) | iOS | 2026-07 | US store rating 11 | Opens PDFs, .oxs, and photos/scans; first 3 charts free, then one-time purchase |
| StitchGrid(Karolis Valatka) | iOS | 2026-07 | 0 rating | $14.99 one-time, opens PDFs and flat scans |
| Evenweave | iOS | 2026-07 | 2 rating | PDF / photo charts, free plus one-time unlock |
| StitchStash, Uzora, StitchHub, Purl, Hello CrossStitch, StitchTracker, flossly, StitchWIP and others | iOS | 2026-02 to 2026-09 | all rated between 0 and 36 | Assorted "cross-stitch trackers," mostly free with in-app purchases |
| Stitch Fiddle, Knytstudio, Chartmark, crossstitchmakers and others | Web / Android | 2026 | Small | Browser-based options are cross-platform; they acquire users through SEO blog posts |
| Apple's built-in Markup | Big-company features | — | All iPhones | Free. Colors PDFs by hand, but doesn't count and can't highlight one color on its own. |

**Bottom line: the niche isn't empty. In 2026, iOS is actually crowded** (the comparison post on stitchlines.app alone lists 13 apps for 2026-10-23; see [stitchlines.app/blog/best-cross-stitch-apps](https://stitchlines.app/blog/best-cross-stitch-apps)), and nearly all of them are indie-built and almost none have taken off. The "iOS has been a long-term vacuum" claim in the data card no longer holds for the English market. The real gap is in the **Ukrainian-language market** .

### 4. Growth levers: where users come from

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Ukrainian cross-stitch YouTubers recommending it | Vladislava Stitch (1.41K subscribers) 10-31 posted "Різдвяний янгол від ЛЕЛІ 😍 Новий додаток Stitch Garden…" 3,308 views, **on the same day it charted in the Ukraine store** ; Ольга Лукова (9.44K subscribers) "Тестую новий застосунок Stitch Garden" 1,276 views (about 11-02); Lisovushka_Stitches "Огляд Stitch Garden" 1,149 views (about 11-01); "393. Xstitch vlog… New Ukrainian app "Stitch Garden""; Goddesses of needlework (5.92K subscribers) 11-03 "Знайомство з програмою" 211 views | Yes |
| Instagram / Facebook creators and the developer's own accounts | Official Instagram @stitchgardenapp (Ukrainian, "Вишивання з комфортом") posts synced demo Reels and an Android launch notice; creator "Лєна, затишок та рукоділля" Reel: "Буду пробувати новий застосунок @stitchgardenapp"; Ольга Лукова's Facebook video: "Дівчатка, хочу вам порекомендувати новий застосунок…" | Yes |
| Paid or gifted-code promotion? | Several small creators posted videos within the same few days, 10-31 to 11-03, which looks like developers reaching out to them for free codes or paid collabs, though no "реклама / співпраця" disclosure tags turned up | No (inference) |
| "Our own Ukrainian app" sentiment | Video titles literally say "New Ukrainian app". Before this, the established paid option Cross Stitch Saga had its main users in Russia (Russian store, 608 rating). | Partly (the titles prove it, the users' motives are inferred) |
| App Store search | In the US store, searching "xsd cross stitch" ranks it in the top 25. But the US store shows 0 ratings and a paid lifestyle rank of 42, so organic English search brings very little. | Partial |

### 5. Why it charted

1. **Proven demand, but no good iPhone option** : Pattern Keeper is Android-only with no iOS timeline view; the commonly suggested alternatives are either subscriptions (Markup R-XP $19.99/year) or can't open PDFs (Saga).

2. **Picked a small market well** : Ukraine has many cross-stitch users (вишивка) and an active creator scene. Stitch Garden has a native Ukrainian UI and a Ukrainian site at /uk/, priced at $5.99, while Saga costs $19 in the Ukrainian store.

3. **A wave of local creator recommendations** : between 10-31 and 11-03, at least 5 Ukrainian cross-stitch YouTube channels and several Instagram/Facebook accounts covered it, with roughly 6–7K views combined. The Ukrainian paid chart has a low bar, so that was enough to reach #1 in paid lifestyle and the top 20 overall.

4. **Polished product, fast releases** : reads PDFs exported from design software (including pure-symbol black-and-white charts), and prompts the user instead of opening a wrong chart when it can't read one. Includes stop markers, work areas, a journal, and thread and fabric calculators. About 7 versions a week, adding features from creator and user feedback (for example the "lock color" that 11-06 requested). All 7 Ukrainian store ratings are 5 stars.

5. **iOS and Android, with progress syncing between them** : many Ukrainian stitchers were already on Pattern Keeper on Android, and cross-platform support lowers the barrier for users switching phones or using two devices.

### 6. Differentiation, and whether that's why it took off

- Functionally it's close to the batch of new iOS apps from 2026 (Stitchwork, StitchGrid, Evenweave, Ruta Stitch): open a PDF, mark stitches cell by cell, highlight colors, track stops. Its technical edge is **reading four formats at once** (.xsd/.oxs/.pat plus vector PDF) and reliable parsing (it checks against the stitch counts printed on the chart), which makes it more specialized than Saga (no PDF support) and Markup (generic annotation).

- What really set it apart, and why it took off, was **localization and distribution** : Ukrainian language, a Ukrainian developer, recommendations from the local creator community, and pricing in the Ukrainian store far below Saga's. Equivalent English-language indie apps sit at single- or low-double-digit ratings in the US store, and Stitch Garden also has 0 ratings there. So feature differences aren't the main driver. Cold-starting through a local community in a language market with real demand, weak competitors and a low bar is.

### 7. How many people have seen it

- Few people know about it yet. Revenue isn't public, there's no TrustMRR listing, and the developer hasn't shared numbers. x-radar shows 0 posts, and English Reddit, HN and the press don't mention it. Reach so far is limited to the Ukrainian cross-stitch creator circle, with single videos at 0.2K–3.3K views.

- Copycats: none yet. The Ukrainian Ruta Stitch (on iOS since 10-27) is a parallel competitor, not a copycat.

### 8. What others can borrow

- **Small language market + mature tool-style demand + one-time purchase** : find a craft tool that has an Android standard but no iOS one (or the reverse), in a country with a strong craft culture and no localized competitor. Build a native-language interface, then get 5–10 local mid-sized creators to post about it over a few days. Entry-level paid charts in small countries are easy to climb, and charting itself brings store exposure. Aim for the top 1 in the category.

- The same approach carries over to diamond painting, knitting and crochet charts, Hardanger and other embroidery, and perler beads, any craft where you complete a pattern cell by cell.

- One-time purchase, no sign-up, no data collection, and sync through the user's own iCloud or Google Drive. No server costs, so a low price can still be profitable.

- Fast releases: they ship changes the same day they come up in creator comments and community feedback. That earned them a perfect rating across all 5 stars and repeat recommendations from creators.

### 9. Still unclear

- No evidence on whether the creator recommendations were paid, gifted or organic.

- Actual downloads and revenue: no calibrated data on how many downloads the Ukrainian paid overall chart rank 17–19 corresponds to. The Android version has about 119 installs (googleplay library), which is very small.

- Whether it can leave Ukraine: 0 rating in the US store, and the English market is crowded with similar apps. If Pattern Keeper ever ships an iOS version, the whole category gets hit.

- Which wins inside Ukraine, Stitch Garden, Ruta Stitch or MyCozyApp, needs a few more weeks to tell.

- Whether the EU-country lifestyle paid rankings are driven by local Ukrainian diaspora is speculation.
