Should you take this ride? The iPhone tells you in a second: the "profit traffic light" for Brazilian rideshare drivers, Rota Pro

What it is When a rideshare driver gets an order from Uber, 99, or inDrive, it reads the offered fare, works out the earnings per km, per hour, and net profit after vehicle costs, and tells you with a red, yellow, or green light whether to accept, plus a driver's ledger.

Why it took off The iPhone couldn't read the screen before. Screen broadcasting has worked for 2026 years now; it brought over its Android user base of 100K, using the same account, and then used a 33% commission to get driver influencers selling it.

BHow you could follow Don't copy it in Brazil. Take the same playbook to a rideshare market that doesn't have a local iPhone version yet: launch on iPhone first and grow through driver influencer distribution.

Grade B: the playbook is clear and few people know it, so the window in other countries is still open. But Brazil is already crowded, GigU has funding to expand, and the whole iOS category depends on Apple's review and the rideshare platforms' attitude. What people in the niche are saying

A small tool for Brazilian rideshare drivers already had 100K installs on Android. This year Apple's screen broadcasting made it possible on iPhone for the first time. It hit the App Store on Oct 7, and a month later it ranked #19 on Brazil's Finance Top Grossing chart, with only 99 ratings. Here's what it is, why it's taking off now, where the money and users come from, who's competing, and whether you can still get in.

One driver's first day

On Nov 4, Miguelzin Junior, a rideshare driver in Rio, posted a 17-minute YouTube video titled "Rota Pro is on iOS now, first day running Uber on an iPhone." He's driven UberX for seven years, and his channel is full of real-world videos like "how much I made in 10 hours" and "today's strategy totally backfired." The video got 4,883 views in two days (YouTube, 11-06), and the description had a 50%-off purchase link.

Two days later, on Nov 6, Rota Pro gained 13 ratings on the App Store in a single day, its biggest day since launch (App Store ratings count, 11-06). The two events line up in time, but from the outside there's no way to tell if one caused the other.

What it is

When a driver gets an order on Uber, 99, or inDrive, the screen shows only a total fare, a distance, and a time. To decide whether to accept, they have to do the math in their head within seconds: how much is this per km, how much per hour, and how much is left after fuel and car payments.

Rota Pro does that math for the driver. The moment the order pops up, it reads the fare on screen, calculates R$/km, R$/hour, R$/minute, and net profit, then sends a notification colored like a traffic light:

  • Green: above your target, accept;
  • Yellow: average, decide for yourself;
  • Red: you may lose money, don't accept.

The threshold is set by the driver. The Android store page says it plainly: "Rota Pro looks after your wallet, not the platform's average."

Beyond that one moment, it's also a driver's ledger: fuel, maintenance, depreciation, and car payments combine into a "true cost per km" and a minimum fare that won't lose you money; a one-minute daily log at the end of your shift; reminders to change oil and tires based on mileage; fixed costs like insurance, car loan, and phone plan automatically spread into profit; and stats on which time slots pay the most. One line on the official iOS page captures it: "Gross R$380 does not mean you earned R$380."

Why now: this wasn't possible on iPhone before

On Android this category has been a red ocean for a long time. Android lets apps use accessibility services to read other apps' screens and then overlay a floating window. Since 2022, a batch of them have appeared: Corrida Perfeita has about 460K installs, and the leader GigU has about 2.8M installs (Google Play, November).

iPhone didn't allow it. Corridex, the earliest iOS equivalent, had a user review on its website saying, "The restrictions on iOS have kept us from analyzing orders on iPhone all this time." In 2026 things changed: these apps switched to Apple's own screen broadcasting, recognizing the numbers on screen locally on the phone, and then pushing the results through notifications. (The technical approach is an inference, but Rota Pro's iOS onboarding page says that when you turn the feature on, iPhone asks for "Start Screen Monitoring (Apple's screen broadcast)," and "no video is recorded, and screen content isn't sent to anyone, including Rota Pro.") The trade-off is that on iPhone there are no floating cards, only notifications; the official site also states that floating co-pilot and auto-confirm after accepting are "Android only."

So in 2026 a batch of iOS apps suddenly appeared: Motorista One (6-10), Corrida Lucrativa (6-16), GiraLucro (6-24). GigU and Rota Pro launched on the same day, Oct 7. No one copied anyone; the same door opened, and everyone rushed through it together.

Why it got going faster than the others

It didn't start from zero. The Android version of Rota Pro has about 98K installs, a 4.9-star rating, and 3,840 ratings (Google Play, 11-05), and it's still adding over a thousand installs a day. Driver influencers had already made tutorials on "how to download and set up the Rota App" earlier; this product was probably called Rota App before it was renamed (inference). The iOS page has a key line: "Already an Android subscriber? Use the same account on iPhone too." One account covers up to two devices. Users with an iPhone at home, or older users switching phones, brought their subscription over.

It has an unpaid sales force. The official promo page openly recruits: distribute through Ticto, a Brazilian digital product platform, with a 33% commission. Each annual plan sold earns the promoter up to R$28.95, with no cap, and promo materials come from WhatsApp support. The referral link also gives buyers 50% off. That's why the description of every driver influencer video has a link. Besides Miguelzin, Marinho Perez's "best earnings calculator app" and Guto's uber's "how to set up the new Rota Pro" each got about 13K views (YouTube, November).

It's cheap, and the pain point is money. The annual plan is R$97 on the official site, payable in 12 installments or via PIX, which works out to a bit over R$0.20 a day. iOS in-app purchases include monthly, quarterly, and annual plans, with a 7-day free trial. Taking one bad ride is part of a tank of gas wasted; during the seven-day trial, drivers can see for themselves how many rides it helped them decline.

Two more small moves. The official site has landing pages like "app for calculating Uber orders on iPhone" and "Uber earnings calculator" that capture search traffic. The iOS version sits in the Finance category, while the main competitors GigU and Corridex are in Business. Brazil's Finance Top Grossing #18 is a currency converter, and #20 and #21 are small bookkeeping apps (App Store, 11-06). This segment has a low barrier, so it's easier to be seen here. Whether that was deliberate is unverified.

How much it's earning

The exact numbers aren't visible from outside, so here are estimates:

What to look atMetricNotes
iOS ratings10-28 50 → 11-06 99Last 7 days +42
Brazil Finance Top Grossing10-28 #33 → 10-30, stable at #18–21 sinceCharted only in Brazil
Android installs10-29 88,490 → 11-05 98,229About 1.2K per day on average
PricingAnnual plan R$97 (official site); iOS monthly / quarterly / annual7-day trial

Ranking #19 on this chart roughly corresponds to dozens of subscriptions a day (estimate). That 99 ratings got it onto this chart suggests a decent paid conversion rate, but don't think of it as a big business; it's more like a solid small-team product. The developer, FRM TECH LTDA, is based in Betim, Minas Gerais, and this is their only app on the App Store.

Who it's competing with

CompetitorsScaleCompared with Rota Pro
GigUAbout 2.8M installs on Android, #1 in the Play automotive category; 283 ratings on iOS; backed by Redpoint, and already in the USThe leader, an order of magnitude bigger
CorridexiOS only, launched 2025-12, 636 ratings, almost no new additions in the past weekFirst mover on iPhone; only looks at individual orders, no ledger
Motorista One / Corrida Lucrativa / GiraLucro85–98 ratings each on iOSSame approach, smaller scale; some have very poor ratings and have stopped growing
DRIVHAbout 240K installs on AndroidOn iOS it's only bookkeeping for now; ride calculation is "coming soon"
Uber / 99 themselvesAll driversAlready shows the per-km rate, but doesn't deduct your vehicle costs or light up based on your own threshold

The core move, reading the screen and lighting the traffic light, is something anyone can build, so it isn't a moat. Rota Pro wins among the smaller iOS players through distribution (its existing Android users plus influencer resale) and a more complete ledger. Against GigU, it's cheaper and tracks more detail, but it's far behind on money and scale.

The reviews also show its weak points: in the first few days on iOS, some people gave one star saying "doesn't work on iPhone"; in Oct 23 someone changed their rating to "works on iPhone 15 now, notifications come through, amazing." On Android, a review with 15 likes asked for a "second strategy, a second traffic light," for example beyond 1.99/km with 35/hour, add another tier of 1.40/km with 50/hour.

What's still unclear

  • Whether Apple and the platforms will turn against it. Using screen broadcasting to read another app's screen is currently allowed by Apple for a group of apps; if review tightens one day, the whole iOS category could be knocked out at once. GigU and Uber have already had disputes in Brazil, and there have been news reports of CADE, the antitrust regulator, getting involved.
  • Where growth comes from can't be separated. Among iOS's new users, how many were moved over from Android and how many came from watching influencer videos can't be broken out from the outside.
  • Any paid acquisition? Found no evidence, which doesn't mean there's none.

If it were you

One-line verdict: Brazil is already crowded, skip it. What's worth building is the same playbook in another country: a market with a decent iOS share, lots of ride-hail drivers, and no local "iPhone ride-check calculator" yet. Ship the iPhone version first.

Who it suits: a small team that understands iOS screen broadcast and on-device text recognition; people who have, or can find, local driver communities and driver YouTubers; people who live in or have run local business in Latin America, Southeast Asia or the Middle East.

Who it doesn't suit: anyone who only wants to target Brazil or the US (GigU is funded and already in both); anyone counting on screen-reading tech as a moat; anyone who can't stomach the risk that one Apple policy change zeroes it out.

How to build it: ship the iPhone version first, because on Android most countries already have established players and iPhone is the open space (inference; check both stores country by country before launch). Follow Rota Pro's feature order: traffic-light alerts → the driver's real per-km cost → one-minute daily bookkeeping → maintenance reminders and shift stats. Support each country's main platforms (DiDi and inDrive in Mexico and Colombia, Grab in Southeast Asia, etc.); the bar is low enough to set up two. Price the annual plan under one tank of local fuel, with a 7-day trial.

How to get users: skip paid acquisition, go after driver creators first. Copy Rota Pro: open an affiliate program paying 30%+ commission, give each creator a 50%-off personal link; ask them for long-form videos like "my first day running on an iPhone." Build a landing page for the official site with "iPhone + platform name + earnings calculator," and reply fast on WhatsApp support. In driver circles, that alone gets you praised.

When to be first: ship v1 in one country before February 2027, 2026. The window has only just opened: GigU is already expanding abroad and DRIVH is also building an iOS version, so the top spots in each country will probably be taken within six months (estimate).

What would prove this wrong: ① Apple removes or rejects a batch of similar apps that read third-party apps via screen broadcast; ② Uber, DiDi or Grab launch their own driver-side "traffic lights based on your costs"; ③ GigU or a local equivalent already has an iOS version in your target country with hundreds of ratings; ④ the reverse: Rota Pro stays in the Finance top-20 chart through the end of 2026 and its rating count keeps doubling, which would mean this is more profitable than it looks and you should move faster.

A last line for everyone building products: a feature being a red ocean on Android doesn't mean it's one on iPhone. Every time Apple opens a new door, it's worth going back through the Android tools that "can't be done on iPhone" and checking them one by one.

Rota Pro (iOS, id6817963841) research report

In one line: a "check before you accept" tool for Brazilian ride-hail drivers. When Uber / 99 / inDrive pop up an order, it reads the fare on screen, works out R$/km, R$/hour and net profit after vehicle costs, then uses a red/yellow/green light to tell the driver whether to take it. It also includes driver bookkeeping, vehicle maintenance and shift timing. Developer FRM TECH LTDA (CNPJ 34.663.185/0001-36, Betim, Minas Gerais). iOS version launched 2026-10-07.

Conclusion: this isn't a new app that grew from zero. It's an established Android product with about 100k installs bringing its users to iPhone. The iOS version took off because of three things:

  1. Apple's screen broadcast (ReplayKit) plus on-device recognition made "reading another app's screen" possible on iPhone for the first time;
  2. the users and reputation already built on Android: one account works on both platforms, so Android subscribers can use it straight away on iPhone;
  3. a proven distribution playbook: an affiliate program on Ticto paying 33% commission, so driver-community YouTube and Instagram creators sell it for you.

It ranks #19 in Brazil's Finance top grossing, but that category's entry bar is low, so the ranking shows real revenue exists, not necessarily large scale.

How much the #19 chart spot is worth: 2026-11-06 Brazil's Finance top grossing: #18 is a currency converter, #20 and #21 are small personal bookkeeping apps, #28 is Motorista One (98 ratings, almost no new ones in the past week). The entry bar for this chart is low; #19 only shows that steady subscriptions come in every day, not that revenue is large. Its iOS rating count is just 99, though, so per-user conversion is probably good. Putting the iOS version in the Finance category (most competitors are in Business) also makes it more visible on a lower-bar chart; this may be deliberate, not verified.

2. Competitors

On Android this category has been a red ocean for ages. On iPhone it was only opened up 2026 years ago. On Android, reading another app's screen and overlaying information on it is easy using accessibility services plus floating windows. iOS never allowed that. It only became possible once these apps moved to screen broadcast (ReplayKit Broadcast Extension) + on-device recognition + push notifications (inferred technical route, not verified). So on iOS, notifications replace the floating card. Rota Pro's website also states that the floating co-pilot, hidden camera and auto-confirm-after-accepting are "Android only."

This is a case of many people rushing in once the same technical window opened, not someone copying Rota Pro.

3. Growth tactics

  1. Migration of Android users, same account works on both platforms (confirmed): the iOS page says "Already an Android subscriber? Use the same account on your iPhone," with up to two devices per account. The Android version has about 100k installs and 3.8k reviews. Android reviews include people saying "I've used Rota Pro for years," and there were Instagram tutorials about the "Rota app" 2024 years ago, suggesting the product may have previously been called Rota App and re-listed under a new package (the Android listing date in the library is 2026-07-16; the rename is unverified).
  2. Affiliate: Ticto pays 33% commission (confirmed): rotapro.app/indique recruits promoters publicly. Each annual plan sold earns the promoter up to R$28.95, with no cap. Ask the WhatsApp support team for creatives. The site also has /promo/?pid= referral links that give 50% off.
  4. SEO (confirmed): the official site has landing pages such as /ios/("App to calculate Uber rides on iPhone") and /calculadora-de-ganhos-uber/. Searching "iPhone ride-filter app" on Jina ranks it first.
  5. WhatsApp support: Android positive reviews repeatedly praise "WhatsApp support replies fast," which itself spreads word of mouth in driver communities.
  6. Paid acquisition: no evidence found (the ad library doesn't cover Brazil), unverified.

4. Why it took off

  • Timing: iPhone drivers had long lacked a ride-filtering tool. Corridex's website has a user review that reads: "iOS's various restrictions have kept us from analyzing rides on iPhone." After the screen-recording approach worked on Android 2026 years ago, a batch of similar apps appeared on iOS, and Rota Pro caught that wave.
  • Ready-made users and trust: Android has 100k installs and a 4.9 rating, so iOS doesn't have to build traction from zero. The same account works on both platforms, so drivers with two devices, or those switching to an iPhone, can bring their subscription with them.
  • A distribution machine: a 33% commission plus 50%-off promo links turn driver creators into salespeople. This playbook is mature in Brazil's digital-product scene (platforms like Ticto / Hotmart).
  • Why people pay: taking a ride that loses money means losing fuel money outright. R$97 a year (about R$0.27 a day) is an easy decision. During the 7-day trial, drivers can directly see it helping them choose rides.
  • More complete than small iOS players: beyond per-ride traffic lights, it also has true per-km cost after fuel, maintenance, depreciation, and car loans; a driver ledger (daily income and expenses, goals, fixed costs, maintenance reminders); shift timing (true hourly pay broken into waiting for requests, going to pick up, and carrying passengers); private-ride quotes; and stats on which hours earn the most. Corridex and Corrida Lucrativa only handle single rides.

5. Differentiation

Compared with small iOS players, Rota Pro differs in its complete financial and cost system, plus the user base and distribution power that came from Android. Compared with GigU, it differs in price (annual fee R$97), deeper expense tracking, and reliance on distribution and creators, while GigU relies on funding and platform scale.

The core "screen reading + traffic lights" feature is something anyone can build; it isn't its moat. The real reason it took off is distribution: migration of Android users plus a network of distribution creators. The product's completeness mainly helps keep people and raise the paid conversion rate.

6. Visibility

  • Still a small circle: it spreads only in Brazilian driver-community YouTube / Instagram / WhatsApp groups; X corpus search finds no related content in the past 30 days (x-radar); no mainstream media coverage specifically about it was found (Extra 2025-06 wrote about disputes over ride refusals caused by this kind of app, without naming Rota Pro); revenue is not public.
  • But the category itself is already crowded: the leader GigU has funding and has been in the news for disputes with CADE and Uber.

7. What to borrow

  • "Mature assist tools on Android, ported to iOS once new system capabilities (screen recording + on-device recognition) appear" is a window worth hunting. In other platforms and professions, any tool that Android can build via accessibility services but iOS can't should be looked at the same way.
  • The same account works on both platforms, letting existing subscribers migrate directly.
  • Brazil-style distribution: pay 30%+ commissions on Ticto / Hotmart and let niche creators sell for you, no ad spend.
  • Put the iOS version in a lower-barrier category (Finance) to chase Top Grossing and gain exposure.
  • This model can be transplanted to local platforms in other countries: DiDi / inDrive in Mexico and Colombia, Grab in Southeast Asia. But in the US, GigU is already in.

8. Still unclear

  • Absolute iOS revenue: the Finance Top Grossing bar is low, and #19 roughly corresponds to dozens of subscriptions per day. This is an estimate, unverified.
  • Whether the Android 2026-07-16 listing date came from re-packaging the old "Rota App" is unverified.
  • Risks of the iOS screen-recording approach to Apple review (reading third-party app screens), and whether Uber / 99 will push back (there have been CADE disputes before).
  • How much of iOS growth comes from creator videos versus Android migration can't be separated.
  • No evidence of paid acquisition.
