"Put a price on your team's worst player": a 350k-view video sends an amateur team fantasy app to #1 in Spain's Sports chart
What it is A Spanish-language amateur-team fantasy football app: pick your teammates as starters with a virtual budget. After the game, teammates anonymously rate each other, choose an MVP, and get seasonal rankings. Free.
Why it took off 10-26 A TikTok meme video calling out teammates got 350k views and 9,351 shares, pushing people to the web version. One person creates a team and everyone has to join, so a whole squad comes in at once. After 10-31 launched on iOS, existing squads moved over as a group, and it climbed to #1 in Spain's Sports chart.
BHow you could follow it Do it in another country or sport (Italy, Brazil, UK Sunday league, five-a-side, basketball, padel), and launch on both platforms at once. Test invite links on the web first, post your own short videos every day in the "@ the worst player on your team" style, and watch the share count.

OnzeGol is a Spanish-language app: it sets up a private fantasy league for the pickup team you play with each week. Players are you and your teammates, and after games everyone rates each other anonymously. It launched in Oct 31, built by one person, completely free. Spain has only 21 ratings, yet since Nov 1 it has been on Spain's App Store Sports Free chart almost every day, at #1. It spent no money on paid acquisition. Growth came from a TikTok video that made people want to forward it to their team chats, plus a product structure where "you can't play alone, you need the whole team." It's small, and almost no one has noticed it.
Oct 26, "eres ese?"
The account @onzegol.app started posting TikTok videos daily in Oct 21. On day six, Oct 26, it posted a short clip with only the caption "eres ese? tu solución 😉" (Is that you? Here's the fix), tagged #ligamunicipal #futbol7 #pachanga #vestuario, meaning municipal league, seven-a-side, pickup football, locker room. By Nov 6 the video had 352k views and 13k likes, with 9,351 shares (TikHub, 11-06).
The share count is the key: shares were 2.7% of views, far above a typical video. The account's other captions follow the same pattern: "etiqueta al que menos valdría de tu equipo" (tag the teammate worth the least on your team), "mándalo al grupo con tus amigos" (send it to your group chat). The video itself is a meme calling out a teammate, and viewers forward it to their team's WhatsApp group.
The most-liked comment (118 likes) reads: "Was looking for it in the Play Store... just found out it's a web app, I'll try it." The second most-liked (45 likes) says: "Can you make one for volleyball or basketball? Great idea." Several others say "can't find it in the App Store," "not on the Play Store," or "it says I'm a bot."
What it is
The first line of the store description: "OnzeGol is fantasy for your amateur team. Not the pro-player kind, the kind for the people you play with every week."
- Set up a league in a minute, send the link to teammates, and each person claims which name on the roster is theirs;
- Each round, pick your starting lineup with a virtual budget, choose a formation, and the captain's points are doubled;
- Before the game, sign up for who's playing; after the game, everyone anonymously rates the teammates who played and picks an MVP;
- Scoring is based on ratings, goals, assists, MVP, and clean sheets, with overall and per-round rankings. The store copy says it plainly: "como los fantasy de la tele" (like the fantasy games on TV).
Free, no money changes hands, no in-app purchases; the terms state "free, no real money involved." The iOS package is only about 3 MB, Spanish only. The Android version says "muy pronto" (coming soon).

App Store Spain storefront, 11-01 to 11-06. 11-06 total ratings, all 21 stars... 5
"#1 in Sports" sounds big, but the bar in Spain's Sports category is low. On the overall free chart it sits in the low hundreds, and a day likely means only a few hundred downloads (estimated, Apple doesn't publish download counts). It also charted in Sports across 15 Latin American stores, including Mexico (best #10, 11-04), Uruguay, Costa Rica, and Argentina, but those stores have almost only 0 or 1 ratings, just a few downloads. Actual installs are probably under a few thousand (inferred). The TikTok account has 558 followers, Instagram 1,213 (11-06).
Where users come from: whole teams arriving at once
Web first. The viral video was posted by 10-26, back when there was no app yet, and it sent viewers to onzegol.com. Around Oct 28, amateur teams were already posting their invite links on Instagram: the seven-a-side team Santos FC posted onzegol.com/unirse/... and thanked @onzegol for "making such a nice app"; Blue Bokerones CF posted "Fantasy Bokerón is here! This morning we created our team fantasy on @onzegol"; another team, perrosdelanochefc, put the invite link in its profile bio.
Then the app, and existing squads move over as groups. It launched on iOS in Oct 31. A review that day read: "My friends and I played on the web before, it was good, and now the app is even easier." The next day it was #1 in Sports. In Nov 1, the account posted "send it to the group, create it now" and got 86k views.
The unit of acquisition is a group, not an individual. One person creates a team and shares it in WhatsApp, and teammates can't pick lineups or rate each other unless they join. One conversion means 7 to 20 people, and they're strongly connected teammates. When the team announces it on its own Instagram, that's another round of exposure.
No sign of paid ads was found: nothing in the Meta Ad Library, and on TikTok only the one viral video stands out while most others have a few hundred to two thousand views, which doesn't look like paid promotion. It has no presence in media, on X, Reddit, or Product Hunt. The early five-star reviews read like friends cheering ("Un 10 sin duda"), and whether they were from friends or family hasn't been verified. The developer on the App Store is listed as LUCAS BELTRAN RUA, with only this app under the name, and the background is unclear.
Why this one, and why now
- No tutorial needed. LALIGA Fantasy, Biwenger, and Mister Fantasy are hugely popular in Spain, and everyone understands budgets, captain doubling, and value swings. OnzeGol only swaps the pro players for you and your teammates.
- Built-in topic. "Who's the worst on our team" and "how much is the goalkeeper worth" are already arguments that break out in team chats every week. Anonymous peer rating turns that argument into a leaderboard.
- Timed to the season start. 10, November is when amateur leagues in Spain start their new season, and team chats are just heating up.
- Easy to chart. A few teams moving in as whole groups in one day is enough to reach #1 in the Sports category, and a chart spot brings a bit more store exposure.
Who else is doing the same thing
OnzeGol didn't come up with this idea first. In the second half of 2026, at least four or five others were building it, and none took off:
| Product | Launched | How big it is now | How it differs from OnzeGol |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panka (Italy, PANKA SRL) | 2026-09-03 | Spain storefront 0 ratings (11-06) | Almost identical mechanics, but a coach does the rating, and it leans toward team management (attendance, dues), mainly in Italian; promoted in Italian Facebook groups and UK forums |
| Squadcard | 2026-10-24 | 0 rating | Also has anonymous peer rating with the highest and lowest scores removed; the core is automatically splitting two evenly matched teams and making FIFA-style player cards, not fantasy; the app is in English, and the organizer pays |
| Fantasy RateMate | About 2026-09 | TikTok videos with a few hundred views | English, Android, UK weekend pitch scene |
| FantaCalcetto | Not verified | Not verified | Italy, promoted on Instagram |
| MVP Voter | 2025-11 | UK storefront 0 ratings | Only does post-game anonymous MVP voting |
| SportEasy | 2013 | France 106k ratings | A veteran club-management app that also lets you rate players and vote MVP, with no fantasy |
Panka launched two months earlier, is the closest in gameplay, and still shows 0 ratings in Spain. The gap isn't features, it's distribution: OnzeGol's founder posts memes on TikTok every day, and one of them hit. Teammates rating each other (not a coach) makes the joke funnier, and native Spanish plus tags like #ligamunicipal target the right crowd, but that's not enough on its own. Someone has to see it.
What we don't know yet
- No public data on how many teams there are or how many people rate each week. Amateur leagues play once a week, and it's unknown whether it can hold attention past the novelty. Since 10-26, there hasn't been a second hit, and in the last few days new ratings are only single digits a day.
- It has no plans to charge anything. Whether this type of product can make money hasn't been proven by anyone: Squadcard charges organizers, and it also has 0 ratings.
- No Android version yet, and several people in the comments are looking for it on the Play Store.
If it were you
Verdict: Worth a try, but be clear about what you want. Building a "friends-league fantasy" has a low technical bar, and markets outside Spanish-speaking countries and Android are still empty. The hard part is distribution, and nobody has shown how the money works.
Who it fits: One or two people who already play in an amateur league or are part of a sports community, who can film and are willing to post short videos every day. Someone who wants a low-cost product that grows through word of mouth and earns users before money. Native speakers of Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), English (UK Sunday league), French, or German, or those building five-a-side, basketball, or padel, all have room: Italy already has Panka and FantaCalcetto but neither has taken off, and basketball already has Rookies: pachangas de basket (on the App Store 10-20).
Who it doesn't fit: Anyone who wants to rely on subscriptions or in-app purchases from day one, or who won't film videos themselves and expects App Store search or ads to bring users (Panka and Squadcard are examples: full-featured, yet 0 ratings).
How to do it:
- Start with a web app, and prove that "one person creates a team, the whole team joins" through an invite link before building an app.
- Copy the gameplay of the professional fantasy games already popular locally (Fantacalcio in Italy, FPL in the UK) and just swap the players for teammates. Anonymous peer ratings plus MVP voting are essential, since that's the source of the buzz.
- Once you have dozens of active teams, launch the app and let existing teams migrate in a single day, aiming for a low-bar category chart. Launch on both platforms at once, so you don't end up like OnzeGol, with comments constantly asking "where's Android?"
- Set money aside for now. Later you could test charging team organizers a little (advanced stats, season recap posters, jersey number cards), or sell to venues and league organizers, but nobody has validated this yet (inference).
How to get users: Named-tag short videos. Write captions that make people want to @ a specific teammate ("@ the most expensive guy on your team", "our keeper is only worth 13M"), and watch shares, not views. Then find local amateur clubs on Instagram, help them set up their league, and ask them to announce it.
When to move: Follow the season. European amateur leagues start in 9 and run through November; after the winter break there's a second window from 1 to February. Launch before mid-January of 2027, or you'll have to wait for the next season in September.
Signs you've got it wrong: ① By mid-December, OnzeGol's Spanish ratings are still under 50 and it has dropped out of the top 20 sports chart, meaning this was a one-off video boost and retention couldn't hold. ② It, Panka, or Squadcard publishes a paid plan and months later still no one pays, meaning this category just doesn't make money. ③ Conversely, if OnzeGol launches on Android and ratings start rising across Latin American storefronts, skip Spanish-language and move to another country or sport.

OnzeGol (iOS id6827088130): why it took off
In one line: a Spanish-language "amateur-team fantasy". Create a private league for the pickup or municipal-league team you actually play with, pick starters from teammates using a virtual budget, and after the match teammates rate each other anonymously and vote MVP, with the scores ranking everyone. The developer is an individual, LUCAS BELTRAN RUA, and this is his only app. It's completely free with no in-app purchases. Verdict: it isn't driven by paid acquisition. It took off on one TikTok meme video with 350k views plus a product built around "the whole team uses it together" (one person creates the team, sends the link into the WhatsApp group, and everyone has to install it). The "sports" category has a low bar in Spain, and a few hundred new installs were enough to hit #1 in the category. The scale is still very small, and almost nobody knows about it.

| Revenue | None. The description and terms both state it's "free, with no real money" and there are no in-app purchases. | App Store description, onzegol.com/condiciones |
Note: the Spanish "sports" free chart has a low bar. Getting into the overall free top 100–150 on a given day probably takes only a few hundred downloads (inference, Apple doesn't publish download numbers). So "#1 in category" sounds good but really means a few hundred to a thousand or two installs. In Latin American storefronts, chart appearances are mostly just a handful of downloads.
2. Competitors: who else is doing the same thing
At least 4–5 companies were building "fantasy with teammates as the players" in the second half of 2026, but none of them took off; the big companies only do fantasy with professional players.
| Product | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from OnzeGol |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Panka (PANKA SRL, Italy) | iOS (also has a Spanish description) | 2026-09-03 | Spain store rating 0 (appstore library, 11-06); promoted in Italian Facebook groups and on the UK nonleaguematters forum | The gameplay is nearly identical (budget, picking teammates, points), but scored by coaches/admins, leaning toward a "coach management tool" (attendance, dues, medicals), mainly in Italian. OnzeGol is teammates rating each other, which adds a "roasting each other" fun factor |
| Squadcard(Ignacio Uliczki) | iOS + web | 2026-10-24 | Rating 0 (appstore library) | Also anonymous peer rating, with highest and lowest scores dropped and people who score randomly downweighted. The "fair scoring" mechanism is very close to OnzeGol's. But the core is auto-splitting two evenly matched teams + FIFA-style player cards, not fantasy picking. Teammates don't need the app, and organizers pay (Pro). The app itself is still in English. |
| Fantasy RateMate | Android(TikTok @fantasy.ratemate) | About 2026-09 | Videos on TikTok get a few hundred views | English, UK "kickabout" scene, same "the players are you" idea |
| FantaCalcetto | Promoted on Instagram (Italy) | Not verified | Not verified | The Italian version of "use your friends as the player roster", i.e. fantacalcio |
| MVP Voter(Daniel Strom) | iOS / Android | 2025-11-13 | UK storefront rating 0 | Only anonymous post-match MVP voting, no fantasy. |
| SportEasy | iOS / Android | 2013 | France 105,803 ratings | An established team management app that also has teammates rate each other and vote for MVP, but it's focused on management, with no fantasy or ranking gameplay |
| FutWow, AMVP, PichangaPro, Pásala Pe, SLM, etc. | iOS / Android / web | various | Small | Organizing games, coordinating, recording stats, voting MVP. None of these are fantasy. |
| LALIGA Fantasy, Biwenger, Mister Fantasy | iOS / Android / web | Years | Consistently on Spain's sports charts (on Costa Rica's sports chart, LALIGA Fantasy ranks one spot below OnzeGol) | The big players build fantasy for pro players. They're the ones who taught Spaniards how to play fantasy, and OnzeGol borrows that mental model directly. |
Conclusion: It's not that there are no competitors. The competitors just never built the combination of "Spanish-language + municipal leagues + teammates rating each other", and none of them found distribution. Panka launched two months earlier with the closest gameplay and still sits at rating 0 in Spain.
3. Growth tactics: where users come from
3.1 TikTok original meme videos (confirmed, main channel)
The account @onzegol.app has posted daily since 2026-10-21, with 26 posts in 10 days (TikHub scrape):
- 2026-10-26 "eres ese? tu solución 😉": 352,156 views, 13,235 likes, 9,351 shares, tags #ligamunicipal #fantasy #vestuario #pachanga #futbol7.
- 2026-11-01 "mandalo al grupo con tus amigos y crearlo ya": 85,773 views, 1,806 likes, 777 shares. That's the day after App launch, and also the day it climbed to #1 on Spain's sports chart.
- The other 24 posts mostly get 300–2,500 views.
The key is share count: the 350k-view video got 9,351 shares, a share-to-view rate of about 2.7%, far above typical videos. The copy is all "mándaselo a tu equipo", "etiqueta al que menos valdría de tu equipo", "el portero, 13 millones": tagging teammates as jokes. The videos are built to be forwarded into team group chats. They end by pointing to onzegol.com/app.
3.2 Teams announce "our team's fantasy" on their own Instagram (confirmed, word-of-mouth spread)
Amateur teams have their own Instagram accounts and post OnzeGol invite links/codes for players and fans:
- Santos FC (F7 team @santos.fc_f7): "LINK: onzegol.com/unirse/TVGWW8EF… thanks @onzegol for making such a nice app";
- Blue Bokerones CF: "¡El Fantasy Bokerón ya es una realidad! Today we created our team fantasy on @onzegol";
- perrosdelanochefc (F7 co-workers/friends team): 10-28 put onzegol.com/unirse/KBKRPVF7 in their profile bio.
(Jina search, Instagram posts, around 2026-10-28) This shows that every team created is one acquisition event for 5–20 people, and these are strong ties (you can't line up a lineup without teammates joining).
3.3 Web first, app later (confirmed)
10-28's team posts linked to the web version (onzegol.com/unirse/…), before 10-31 launched on iOS. 10-31's comments say "my friends and I already used it on the web, the app is more convenient now." So the TikTok hit (10-26) first sent people to the web, and after the iOS launch 10-31, existing teams migrated to the app as a whole, hitting #1 on Spain's sports chart on day one. The app package is only 3 MB, most likely a shell for the web (inference).
3.4 Store search, ads, press, X (none found)
- The Meta Ad Library (our metaads library) has no advertiser record for onzegol. That library only tracks products on its list, so no result doesn't mean no ads were run. The TikTok hit is organic. The data shape (one viral video, everything else flat) doesn't look like paid distribution.
- X (x-radar, last 30 days) 0 mentions; no press coverage, Reddit, or Product Hunt found.
- The reviews are all 5 stars, and the early few are phrased like friends cheering it on ("Un 10 sin duda"). Reviews appeared the day it launched, so early friends-and-family reviews are possible. Not verified.
4. Why it took off
- One meme video hit the "team group chat" scenario. Lots of people in Spain play F7 or municipal leagues every week, and "who's the worst on our team, what's the keeper worth" is a natural group-chat topic. The 350k views and 9,351 shares are the source of all its traction (TikHub data).
- The product structure builds in virality: one person creates a team → sends the link on WhatsApp → every teammate has to join to pick players and rate. One conversion = a whole squad. Teams then announce it on Instagram (the Santos FC and Blue Bokerones posts).
- Borrows the fantasy mental model Spaniards already know: LALIGA Fantasy, Biwenger, and Mister are very widespread in Spain, and "budget, captain double points, value changes, weekly rankings" need no explanation. It just swaps the players for yourself and your teammates. That's the slogan: "como los fantasy de la tele" (like the TV fantasy games).
- Timing: 10–November is when Spain's amateur league season has just started, and teams want some fun for the new season. Team group chats are also just getting active again.
- Low bar for category ranking: to rank #1 on Spain's free sports chart you only need a few hundred total free-chart downloads. A few teams migrating in one day is enough. Ranking also brings a bit of store exposure (15 Latin American storefronts also entered their sports charts, but almost with no ratings).
5. Differentiation, and why it took off
Compared with pro fantasy: the players are you and your teammates, the whole team is private, and no real money is involved. Compared with Panka / Squadcard / RateMate:
- Teammates rate each other, not coaches (Panka uses coach scoring). This is the source of fun and conversation, and it gives everyone something to do every round (voting, picking lineups).
- A complete fantasy system (budget, formations, captains, an anonymous pre-match survey to set player value, prices that move with performance), not just player cards or team splitting (Squadcard).
- Native Spanish, with tone and tags aimed squarely at #ligamunicipal #futbol7 #pachanga, while the competitors are either in Italian or in English.
- Squadcard also has "fair scoring" (dropping highest and lowest, correcting random scores, letting you set judges), so that isn't unique.
Is that why it took off? Partly. Differentiation (peer rating + fantasy + Spanish) makes the meme funny and drives whole-team virality. But gameplay isn't that different from Panka's. Panka launched two months earlier and is still at rating 0. What really opened the gap is distribution: the founder made TikTok meme content himself and landed one hit. So it's "a product structure suited to spreading + distribution done right", not a product that is unique in itself.
6. How many people have seen it
- Revenue: none, and none planned (the terms say it's free).
- Press / X / Reddit / TrustMRR: none. Third-party data sites (appfigures, AppWinners, appstoretracker) only have auto-generated pages.
- Who sees it: the Spanish amateur players behind the 350k-view TikTok, and the Instagram followers of a few teams.
- Verdict: few people know about it yet.
- Copycats: none seen so far. Squadcard (10-24) launched around the same time with a very similar scoring mechanism, which looks more like simultaneous convergence than copying.
7. What others can learn
- Take a game people already play (pro fantasy sports) and shrink it to your friend group: you're the player, so the conversation starts itself. The same play works for five-a-side, basketball (Rookies: pachangas de basket already exists, 2026-10-20), padel, Italy (Panka and FantaCalcetto are already at it), Brazil, and English Sunday league.
- Design the product so "one person using it" doesn't work and the whole team has to join. The acquisition unit is "a group chat", not one person.
- Use "tag-a-friend" short videos to cold-start: write copy that makes viewers want to forward it to a specific teammate ("etiqueta al que…", "mándaselo a…"). Watch share count, not view count.
- Validate on the web first and run it on invite links, then launch the app so existing teams migrate in one batch and push into a category chart.
- Pick a low-bar category (sports) where a small concentrated set of installs can earn a "#1" ranking, which gives exposure and screenshot material.
8. Still unclear
- Real user numbers: how many teams and active users is not public. A 21 rating only tells us installs are in the low thousands at most (inference).
- Retention: the amateur season is one match a week, and every round requires picking and rating. Whether it survives the novelty phase is unknown. After the 350k-view video, no second hit followed, and by 11-05 rating growth had flattened (11-06 added 6 more, cause unknown).
- Whether it ran TikTok / Meta ads: no evidence, but our ad library coverage is incomplete.
- Whether the early 5-star reviews are from friends and family: not verified.
- Founder background: the App Store developer name is LUCAS BELTRAN RUA, with only this one app. There is a same-named young Spanish illustrator online (Pinterest bio says age 18). Whether they are the same person is not verified.
- No way of making money; the Android version is "muy pronto" (coming very soon).
