> Stalkie showed early this year that female true-crime audiences will pay a weekly subscription for this kind of game. Peekie ran a batch of persona accounts with a few dozen followers each, all posting in one voice, and paid to boost its best-performing videos, one reaching 11M views. Then it added formal TikTok ads and used the $9.99 weekly subscription to recover acquisition spend.

# 1,425 followers, 11.3M views: Peekie sells a weekly subscription for flipping through a stranger's phone to solve mysteries, built on a set of "mystery-obsessed girl" alt accounts

**What it is** A mystery game where you get a stranger's phone and solve the case by going through their chats, photos, maps, payments, and health records. It also has a mode where you roleplay a romance storyline with an AI character.

**Why it took off** Stalkie already proved earlier this year that women who love true crime will pay a weekly subscription for this kind of game. Peekie uses a batch of persona alt accounts with a few dozen followers each, all posting in one voice, pays to boost the hits, and got one video to 11M views, then added a TikTok paid campaign and used a $9.99 weekly subscription to earn back the ad spend.

**B** **How you could play it** Don't just make an English version. Go after Japanese, Korean, German, Portuguese, and Spanish markets, make the first case fully free and then charge a subscription, use AI only on the back end while humans edit the storylines, copy its persona-account matrix and Spark Ads approach for acquisition, and test creatives before launch.

Grade B: real demand, ad economics that work, and a rival that launched a month later still gets 100k installs a week; non-English markets have room. But the English market is already crowded, the gameplay has no moat, and success depends entirely on ads and content execution. Its aggressive paywall is also the main source of bad reviews. Few people know about it yet

A mystery game where you solve cases by going through a stranger's phone. It hit Google Play on Sep 8 and got 109k installs in two months. The iOS version charted in the top 25 of the Entertainment chart in Australia, Canada, and Belgium. The gameplay is not new; more than a dozen competitors have entered the category this year. It took off thanks to a Hong Kong team's go-global playbook: ten-odd TikTok alt accounts with a few dozen followers each posting in one voice, paid boosting for the hits, AI generating cases in bulk, and a subscription prompt that appears halfway through the first case. Below: how it works, what users complain about, who it competes with, and whether you can still get in.

### One 13-second video, and the most-liked comments under it

On Sep 12, 2026, the TikTok account @investigatewithmia posted a 13-second video with the soundtrack "Spooky, quiet, scary atmosphere piano songs" and a caption of one line: "Found a new game called Peekie and I cannot stop playing 👀" By Nov 6, the video had 11.3M views and 188k likes. Another video she posted a week earlier, "Girls, this game!! 😮", had 10.6M views.

The account's bio reads "A girly addicted to cosy mystery games… Become a real detective with Peekie!", a girl obsessed with mystery games. It has 1,425 followers. A few thousand followers with over ten million views is four orders of magnitude off, so organic reach hardly explains it. The most likely explanation is that the developer paid to boost these videos (inference, high confidence).

Under the 11.3M-view video, the most-liked comment is "don't get you have to pay" with 1,380 likes. Second is "Guys download elmwood its so fun and its free" with 764 likes. Another reads "Btw guys that only lets you get til about the 6th task on each thing, then it makes you pay". On the other side, "hold on i'm installing this" and "i have never downloaded a game so fast" also have several hundred likes (TikTok, 11-06).

It's an ad-style video, and half the comments talk people out of downloading while the other half say they're installing right now. That's essentially all of Peekie: strong at pulling people in, weak at keeping them.

### What it is

The first line of the store page: "Every phone hides a secret. Every detail could be a clue." You get a stranger's phone and go through their chats, photos, emails, calendar, maps, voice memos, health data, payment records, and cloud storage, check what these people say against what their phone reveals, rebuild the timeline, and find the truth. The cases are mostly "is my boyfriend cheating" and "where did the missing girl go." One iOS user described it well: "You take on tasks in a text chat, and answer about 21 questions and the case is solved."

From late October it added a mode called Peekie Lives: free-form chat with AI characters, leaning toward romance and storylines. The iOS name has also gone from "Story & Mystery Games" to the current "Stories & Choices", changed four times in all. The new TikTok videos from November push this mode: "Peekie Lives means real interactions 👀"

The developer on Google Play is credited as PopPark.AI, the iOS seller is Intelli Future INC, the TikTok advertiser is INTELLIFUTURE LIMITED, registered in Hong Kong, and the payer is a Hong Kong payment-collection company. The same company also runs an AI interactive content community app, "PopPark - Playable Social". Peekie looks like a vertical split off the same AI generation stack (inference).

### Why it took off: not the gameplay, the distribution

**The demand was already proven by others.** "Snoop through someone's phone" is an old category: Duskwood has been around for 2019 years with 22.4M installs on Play; Peek a Phone has 6.13M; the chat-style mystery An Elmwood Trail has 266k ratings on the US App Store. In 2026 January, French indie dev Gregoire Collin launched Stalkie, turning it into a weekly-subscription game aimed at women who love true crime, with TikTok videos in a girl-talk voice like "Every girl NEEDS this game". A third-party estimate puts it at roughly $85k a month (screensdesign.com, estimate). Peekie came in 7 months later.

**A fleet of alt accounts, pushing the hits.** @investigatewithmia is not a one-off. TikTok has at least ten more accounts on the same template: @mysterywithamber (150 followers), @kay.games8 (147 followers, one video with 788k views, bio "Currently playing peekie"), @detective.tee (48 followers), @miminvestigates, @deh.investigates, @detective.dew... The names are all "investigate / mystery / detective + a girl's name", and the captions are all "obsessed", "can't stop playing", "true crime girls". The official @peekie.app account has posted 458 videos and has 164 followers. The play: a batch of alt accounts posts on a script every day, and whichever video performs gets paid promotion.

**Paid ads started early, too.** In TikTok's public European ad records, it has run 4 ads in total through Nov 586, with 96 currently live and 7 new in the last 192 days, mainly targeting the UK and Ireland. The earliest ad is from May 2026 15, almost three months before the iOS launch (Aug 6), so creatives were tested before release. Captions after Oct 20 read "Opened her phone for 5 minutes. Lost 3 hours." and "Search a missing girl's real phone." US spend is not visible from outside, but the US store is the main battlefield and the volume is likely bigger (inference).

**The install curve matches the hits.** On Google Play it does one or two thousand installs a day most days. In Oct 4 a single day added 21k more, with Oct 8 7,400 and Oct 22 6,000 (third-party daily install estimates). The timing overlaps the million-view videos and the new batch of ads from Oct 20 (correlation; not checked one by one).

**AI makes content nearly free.** The case materials, including photos, chats, emails and health records, are largely AI-generated, so it can churn out cases quickly and bolt on an AI romance chat mode.

### How it makes money: the paywall hits at task four

iOS pricing: weekly subscription $9.99, monthly $14.99, yearly $34.99, plus coin packs from $5.99 to $39.99. Google Play in-app prices run $2.99–$199.99.

How much is free? Reviews on the US App Store from the last month agree:

> "Every story cuts off around task 4, and a paywall pops up asking you to subscribe to continue." — "Fun in Theory - Cash Grab in Reality", 10-18

> "I got out pen and paper, fully into detective mode, and at task 7/17 the subscription screen popped up." — 10-13

> "It hooks you at first, then gets deeper, then a paywall blocks you. I won't pay for this kind of game, I'll find a free one." — 10-20

The developer's reply line is "opening tasks are the free preview". Another common complaint is "AI slop": "I haven't even started playing and the app is full of disgusting AI junk pictures." (10-12)

The result is polarized ratings. On Google Play it scores 3.2. Of 493 ratings, 1 stars 147, 2 stars 98, and 5-star and 246,3-star ratings are both 4 (0 11-06). That shape is unnatural, and the cause isn't visible from outside. On the iOS US store it scores 4.6 from 435 ratings, adding 8 to 16 a day recently.

A $9.99 weekly subscription plus "charge once they're hooked" means that as long as a small share of players pay, paid acquisition pencils out. Its revenue is not public. On the iOS US Entertainment chart it has sat between #97 and #141 (early November), which shows real volume, but well short of the top tier.

### Who it's competing with

Quite a few, and most are bigger:

| Product | Launched | Scale | How it differs from Peekie |
|---|---|---|---|
| Duskwood | 2019 | Play 22.4M installs | Long-running chat detective series, chapter-based |
| An Elmwood Trail | 2023 | 266k iOS US ratings, 7.64M Play installs | Hand-written long-form text mystery; Peekie's reviews keep recommending it as the "free, not AI" alternative |
| Peek a Phone | 2020 | Play 6.13M installs | "Found phone" prototype, leaning toward puzzles |
| Stalkie | 2026-01 | 2,920 iOS US ratings, estimated about $85k/month | The breakout of this wave, hand-made, iOS only |
| ColdTrace | 2026-05 | Play 1.19M installs, +74k in the last ~7 days | Cold-case theme, one order of magnitude bigger than Peekie |
| Heyyyy | 2026-04 | 870k Play installs, +7k in the last 247 days | Interactive story with AI-sent texts; Peekie Lives is chasing it |
| Leaked(Hapiga) | 2026-07 | Play 380k installs | Same gameplay |
| Leaked - Detective Story(Skytechlab) | 2026-10-12 | 112k Play installs, +7k in the last 103 days | Launched a month after Peekie, and matched its two months of volume in 7 days |

(Google Play installs and App Store US ratings, 11-06.)

Between 7 and October, more than a dozen similar apps appeared on the App Store, including Snitchy, iChase, Girl Detective: Phone Snoop, SpyBestie, DeepStalker, Unread and PhonePlot, most with a few dozen to a few hundred ratings. On Android, Peekie ranks behind ColdTrace, Heyyyy and Leaked (Hapiga).

This table shows two things. First, nobody has a moat on gameplay, and Peekie is itself a follower. Second, Skytechlab, which only launched in Oct 12, got 100k installs in a week, so the category is still feeding volume to newcomers who know how to spend.

Few people know about Peekie. No media coverage, no X discussion in the last 60 days, and on Reddit it only comes up in threads asking for phone-snooping games. The category itself is no longer a secret, though.

### If it were you

**My take:** The demand for "solve a case by snooping on phones" is real, and the female mystery audience on TikTok really will click in. Latecomers can still get 100k installs in a week. But the English market already has a dozen-plus players, the mechanics can be copied by anyone, and the contest is over paid acquisition and content execution. Worth a test, but don't just reskin it and build an English version.

**Who it suits:** small teams that can mass-run TikTok accounts, buy Spark Ads and feed ads, and do the math on weekly-subscription payback; people who can write mystery plots, or who can edit AI-generated content until it doesn't look AI.

**Who it doesn't suit:** indie devs who want to grow slowly from store search and organic traffic. Every player in this category took off with paid promotion, and a group of reviewers keeps telling people to play the free Elmwood instead.

**How to do it:**

- Go to another language. Almost all of this wave is in English. The true-crime and otome-leaning audiences in Japanese, Korean, German, Portuguese and Spanish markets are large, and Peekie has only shown up on the Korean and Dutch Google Play entertainment charts (inference: non-English markets haven't been seriously worked; not verified one by one).

- Do the opposite where it gets the most criticism. Most negative reviews are about one thing: not an unwillingness to pay, but being cut off once hooked and feeling tricked. Make the first case fully free, let people finish one case, then ask for the subscription. Or sell cases individually ($1.99 each).

- Use AI only in the backend and keep it hidden from players. "AI slop" is its second biggest source of complaints, and it's the reason rival Elmwood pulls users from Peekie's reviews. Use AI for first drafts, and have humans edit the plot and the key evidence images.

- Watch where it is heading. Peekie is moving toward "solve cases to draw people in, charge for AI romance chat", probably because pure case-solving may not retain well enough. You could design both tracks in from the start rather than bolting one on later.

**How to acquire users:** copy its distribution skeleton. Two or three months before launch, run TikTok ads to test creatives. Set up ten or so personas of "girls obsessed with mysteries", post scripted "I can't stop" short videos every day, and pay to boost whichever one performs. Use hooks like "Her phone was open for 5 minutes, I lost 3 hours". For target languages, use local creators' voices rather than translating English scripts directly.

**When to move:** the sooner the better. The English market gets new copycats every month, and the gaps in non-English markets won't stay open. The period from year-end to before Lunar New Year is when mobile game acquisition is most expensive, so finish creative testing now if you can (inference).

**What would mean you got it wrong:** after one or two months of creative tests, the persona videos can't get past a few hundred thousand views no matter how much you boost them; or the payment rate can't cover CPI, so the weekly subscription doesn't pay back; or within two months, three or four rivals start paying for the same language you picked. Any one of these means the market is already full, or your approach is wrong.

## Peekie (ai.peekie.app): why it could run

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data from our databases (googleplay / appstore / tiktokads / metaads / googleads, each labeled) and the web (Jina search, TikHub). Unverified claims are marked as such.

### One line

Peekie is one of the followers in the "found-phone mystery" niche that took off in 2026 summer and fall. The developer is Hong Kong company INTELLIFUTURE LIMITED (Android signed as PopPark.AI). It got big not because of new gameplay but because of **a proven going-global paid acquisition playbook** : a matrix of "mystery-game girl" persona accounts on TikTok seeding content, Spark Ads boosting a few videos to tens of millions of views, then regular TikTok ads on top. On the product side, AI generates assets to churn out cases in bulk, and an AI romance/story chat mode (Peekie Lives) serves as a second line. The first case hits a subscription wall partway through, and that went live last week.

### 1. Basic data

- **Android** : listed 2026-09-08, installs as of 2026-11-06 at 109,145, +7 over the last 13,432 days, rating 493 (googleplay library app_profile). Daily installs estimated via AppstoreSpy: around 1–3k per day in mid-September, with **10-04 single day +21,475** , 10-08 +7,410, 10-22 +6,005, and other days mostly 1–2.5k (googleplay library app_day_ext). Category charts only: #150–180 in Entertainment free charts in the KR / NL stores (data card).

- **Play rating 3.2** , histogram [1 star 147, 2 star 98, 3 star 0, 4 star 0, 5 star 246] (googleplay library app_snap 2026-11-06). It's polarized, with the middle 0, which is unnatural (possibly some versions prompt good reviews while the paywall drives other users away; unverified).

- **Pricing** : iOS weekly $9.99 / monthly $14.99 / yearly $34.99, credits $5.99–39.99 (data card); Play in-app purchases $2.99–$199.99.

- The most common complaints in reviews: the first case hits a paywall at task 4; the assets "look AI-generated at a glance" (App Store US reviews 2026-09-11 "AI slop game!!!", 2026-10-10 "after my 4th one I had to pay"; the developer replied "opening tasks are the free preview").

### 2. Competitors: this niche was already crowded 2026 years ago

"Investigating someone else's phone" is an old niche, but in 2026 Stalkie led a new wave of "catch the cheater / find the missing girl" variants aimed at women TikTok users, and followers flooded in from 7 through October.

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale (source) | How it differs from Peekie |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| An Elmwood Trail(Sparsh Tyagi / Techyonic) | iOS+Android | 2023-03 | iOS US 266k ratings, Play 7.64M installs (appstore / googleplay libraries) | Text-chat long-form mystery series, hand-written, category leader |
| Duskwood(Everbyte) | iOS+Android | 2019-09 | 22.4M Play installs | Chat-style detective series, long-established |
| Peek a Phone(FaintLines) | iOS+Android | 2020/2022 | 6.13M Play installs, 4,420 iOS ratings | "Found phone" original gameplay, more puzzle-focused, one-time paid cases |
| Stalkie · Mobile Detective (Gregoire Collin, French indie) | iOS | 2026-01-13 | iOS US 2,920 rating; third-party estimate $85K/month (screensdesign.com), October $14.6K–118.9K (appgazers) | The trigger of this wave of "fake phone secret-finding" games; source of the TikTok "Every girl NEEDS this game" playbook; hand-made |
| ColdTrace: Cold Case Mystery(Saclic / Quiet Games) | iOS+Android | 2026-05/06 | Play 1.19M installs, +7k over the last 74 days; iOS US 6,623 rating | Cold-case theme, an order of magnitude bigger than Peekie |
| Heyyyy: Stories that text back(heyyyyAI) | iOS+Android | 2026-04 | Play 870k installs, +7k over the last 247 days; iOS US Top Grossing Entertainment #37, 4,761 rating | AI-generated texting interactive stories. Peekie's "Peekie Lives" AI romance line directly targets it |
| Leaked · Mobile Detective(Hapiga / Siarhei Ivaneichyk) | iOS+Android | 2026-07/08 | Play 380k installs; iOS 250 rating | Same-mechanic follower |
| Untraced: Cold Case Detective(Hohama) | Android | 2026-07 | 250k Play installs | Same as above |
| Leaked - Detective Story(Skytechlab) | Android | 2026-10-12 | Play 112k installs, +7k over the last 103 days | Later follower, scaling even faster than Peekie |
| Snitchy, iChase, Girl Detective: Phone Snoop, SpyBestie, DeepStalker, Last Seen, Unread, PhonePlot, Calder Grove… | iOS | 2026-07 ~ 10 | Each with tens to hundreds of ratings (iTunes search 2026-11-06) | Same-mechanic small titles, mostly didn't take off |
| Simulacra / Sara is Missing | PC/mobile | 2016–2018 | Niche paid | Horror-themed "found phone" original |

Takeaway: **there's no real gameplay differentiation** . On Android, Peekie ranks behind ColdTrace, Heyyyy and Leaked (Hapiga) in scale, on par with the later Skytechlab Leaked.

### 3. Growth tactics (with evidence)

1. **TikTok persona-account matrix + Spark Ads boosting (confirmed)** . The main account @investigatewithmia (bio "A girly addicted to cosy mystery games… Become a real detective with Peekie!") has only **1,425 followers, yet 546k total likes** . Video performance: 2026-09-12 "Found a new game called Peekie and I cannot stop playing" **11.3M views / 188k likes** , 2026-09-05 "Girls, this game!!" **10.6M** , 10-19 3.55M, 10-12 2.38M, 09-08 770k (TikHub, 2026-11-06). Views and followers differ by three to four orders of magnitude, which can basically only be paid boosting (Spark Ads). Sister accounts in the same format include @mysterywithamber (150 followers), @kay.games8 (147 followers, one video with 08-18 788k views, bio "Currently playing peekie"), @detective.tee (48 followers, bio "Currently playing Peekie"), @abiisolves, @miminvestigates, @deh.investigates, @nicole.daily81, @detective.dew, @glau.games. All have dozens to a hundred-plus followers, names built from "investigate / mystery / detective + a girl's name," and uniform copy ("obsessed / can't stop playing / true crime girls"). The official account @peekie.app has only 164 followers across 458 videos. **This is a bulk account-farming matrix with a shared script that picks winners and piles ads on them** , directly copying the women's-perspective tone of Stalkie's earlier "Every girl NEEDS this game."

2. **TikTok paid ads (confirmed, European scope)** . The tiktokads library maps Peekie to advertiser **INTELLIFUTURE LIMITED (registered in Hong Kong)** , TikTok account peekie.app, and payer "Hong Kong Jinyan Communication Technology Co., Limited" (an agency / settlement company). Landing pages go to iOS 6792978953 and ai.peekie.app. **Currently running 96 ads in Europe, 7 new in the last 192 days, 586 seen in total** , targeting GB / IE, with single-ad reach peaking around 100k–200k. The earliest one is 2026-05-15 (pre-launch creative test). From 10-20 the copy reads "Opened her phone for 5 minutes. Lost 3 hours." and "Search a missing girl's real phone." (tiktokads library, 2026-11-04). The library can't see US ads, but the US store is the main battlefield, so spend there is likely larger (unverified).

3. **Meta / Google ads: none found in the libraries** . The metaads library returns no matching advertiser (its keyword pool doesn't cover games, which doesn't mean they aren't advertising). The googleads library 2026-11-04 checked the legal entity name, product name and domain, and found no advertiser.

4. **Android jump days line up with content hits** : 10-04 single day +21k, 10-08 +7k, 10-22 +6k. Timing matches several million-view videos from @investigatewithmia in early October through 10-19, and the new TikTok ad batch starting 10-20 (correlation, not verified video by video).

5. **Store search / similar-app recommendations** : App Store "You Might Also Like" cross-recommends Peekie with Leaked, ColdTrace, Heyyyy, Spy Story and others (apps.apple.com pages across stores). The iOS title changed several times (Story & Mystery Games → Crime Mystery Games → Stories & Mysteries → Stories & Choices), which looks like keyword and positioning tests (historical titles recorded by chartoo and appbrain).

6. **No X, press, or Reddit discussion** : x-radar shows 0 posts mentioning "Peekie" in the last 60 days. No press coverage in search; on Reddit it's mentioned only in passing in "found phone game recommendation" threads.

### 4. Why it took off

- **Category demand was validated by Stalkie, and TikTok already has a ready audience** : early in 2026, Stalkie used the "girls must try checking phones" content approach to show that women who like true crime / cozy mystery will pay a weekly subscription (third-party estimate $85K/month). Peekie entered 2–7 months later.

- **Content can be mass-produced with AI** : photos, chats, emails, health data and other assets in the cases are heavily AI-generated (review: "all images… completely generated by AI"). That lets it quickly stack multiple cases, and it can plug in a free-form AI romance/story mode (Peekie Lives). One app serves both the "investigation" crowd and the "Heyyyy-style AI texting romance" crowd.

- **Revenue comes from an aggressive subscription wall** : the first few tasks of the first case are free, then the weekly subscription is $9.99. A high weekly price plus impulse-download paid acquisition is what makes the math work.

- **The playbook is industrialized** : a Hong Kong company entity, an agency settling payments, creative testing starting in May, and 10+ TikTok persona accounts built on the same template. This is a team with going-global paid-acquisition experience, not an indie developer who got lucky. PopPark.AI also runs an AI interactive content community, "PopPark - Playable Social" (developer page on download.cnet.com). Peekie looks like a vertical product carved out of the same AI generation capability.

### 5. Differentiation

- Gameplay-wise, there's **no differentiation** : finding phones, hunting clues, and lining up timelines, same as Stalkie / Leaked / ColdTrace.

- The real difference comes down to two things: ① **multi-type evidence** (health data, payment records, cloud drives, recordings, etc.) plus AI generation, which speeds up case production; ② **merging "phone-searching detective" and "AI character romance chat" into the same App** (the iOS name has been changed to "Stories & Choices," and the new TikTok creatives lead with "Peekie Lives means real interactions"). It's shifting toward Heyyyy's direction, which suggests pure detective gameplay alone may not be enough for retention or payment.

- These differences are **not why it took off** . It took off on paid acquisition and a matrix of persona accounts; the differentiating part (the AI creatives) is actually the main source of bad reviews, and on Play it has only 3.2 stars.

### 6. How visible it is

- Revenue isn't public, and no media outlet or big X account has covered it; it only has buzz on TikTok through its own account matrix. **Hardly anyone knows about it yet** . But its category is already crowded (see the competitor table: 7–October saw a dozen-plus similar iOS launches), and copycats came both before and after it.

### 7. Takeaways

- "Persona account matrix + Spark Ads boosting of winning posts": a dozen-odd small accounts with tens of followers post from a unified script; once something pops, money goes in, and single posts reach tens of millions of views. CPI is far below plain feed ads.

- Tested creatives on TikTok for 3 months before launch (the earliest ad ran 2026-05-15; the iOS version came out 08-06).

- The "first few tasks free → weekly subscription" paywall common to narrative apps, plus mass-produced AI content, can push content costs very low.

- Cross-category stitching: pull in traffic with detective gameplay, then catch it with AI romance chat (a category with higher ARPU).

### 8. Uncertain

- US-store ad spend and Meta ad volume (not covered by the libraries); real iOS downloads and revenue (only ratings and chart positions); Beluga's "US entertainment top 62" claim was not verified.

- Play rating histogram for 3/4 stars is 0; whether there are incentivized reviews or anomalies is unverified.

- The team behind PopPark.AI / INTELLIFUTURE (presumably a China-based going-global team, based on a Hong Kong entity and a Hong Kong ad-buying firm; unverified).

- Whether the persona accounts are run in-house or outsourced to a UGC agency can't be told apart; either way, the developer is paying.
