Yuma: Weekly Meal Planner · Nolca

# A Frenchman brought America's "dinners sorted by budget" to Europe and, through a batch of 400-follower accounts, pushed it to #1 in France

**What it is:** tell it how many people you're feeding, which supermarket you shop at, and how much you want to spend a week. It plans your weekly dinners and gives you a shopping list with prices already estimated, $9.99 a month.

**Why it took off:** America had already shown people would pay for this. It was first to build local-language versions for Europe, then used a batch of small accounts to post short videos on what a week of local supermarket food costs. One Spanish video with 380k views pushed its ratings up 10x in a week.

**B** **How you could follow:** don't fight France and Spain head-on. Pick a language it hasn't done well (Italian, German, Polish, Portuguese, Nordic), make the first version plan lunches and price local supermarkets accurately, then use multiple accounts to post daily "a week of eating on €X at [supermarket]" videos.

Grade B: the playbook is clear and cheap, and a few languages are still open. But the product has no real moat. In France and Spain, within three months, the big player Jowzi and a string of copycats had crowded in, the prototype TapCook has already listed in European stores, and inaccurate price estimates and a hard paywall are unavoidable weaknesses. Chatter in small circles

Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-10-18 · 11-07 installs 3,638

Android · Total installs worldwide

Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.

Yuma's pitch is simple: tell it how many people you're feeding, which supermarket you use, and how much you want to spend a week, and it plans Monday-to-Sunday dinners and gives you a shopping list with prices already estimated, $9.99 a month. The product is modeled on America's TapCook, with similar slogans and pricing. It wins on two counts: it shipped French, Spanish, and German versions before the prototype did, and it recruited a batch of small accounts to film "could you really eat for this much at Mercadona?" Below: how it took off, who's competing with it, and what's still open.

### A video with 380k views

In 2026, around October 28, the Spanish TikTok account @maffefood posted a 40-second video with one line of copy: "¿Crees que es posibleeee en #mercadona?? 🫪" (Do you think it's possible at Mercadona??). The account had only 400 followers at the time. From late October it was posting almost daily, every video on the same theme: how much it costs to eat for a week at Mercadona, Lidl, Carrefour, or Alcampo, each tagged #yuma.

This clip hit 11-06 with 389k views and 22k likes. Nobody in the comments talks about the App. They're comparing how much they spend. Top comment: "lol I'm at 40 € this month, the game's starting" (1,550 likes), followed by "the two of us, 100 € a month". Some pour cold water: "ChatGPT can do this for free" (124 likes), "you have to pay to use this, no thanks".

The same account had posted a Carrefour video the day before with 40k views, and one titled "¿¿¿Almuerzos y cenas???" (lunches and dinners too???) with 96k views, 11-04. The rest mostly got one or two thousand views. The account posted dozens of videos in total, and only one or two actually worked.

The store data makes it clear: Yuma's rating count on the Spain App Store went from 10-31 13 to 11-06 131 in a week, up 10 times, and it reached #4 on the Food & Drink category Top Grossing chart.

### What it sells

The first line of the store page: "What's for dinner this week? Yuma plans it for you." The French store reads "Qu'est-ce qu'on mange cette semaine ? Yuma s'en occupe." (What's for dinner this week? Yuma takes care of it.)

- Enter how many adults and kids are at home, which supermarket you usually go to, what you like and avoid, what cookware you have, and your weekly budget;

- A few minutes later you get Monday-to-Sunday dinners. Skip any night you're not cooking, and swap any dish you don't like for three alternatives with the same budget and taste.

- The shopping list is sorted by shelf section, with each item showing "the price at your supermarket," and the total is shown next to your budget.

Monetization is a hard paywall: you subscribe on install, with a 3-day free trial, then $9.99 a month or $29.99 a year (Google Play in-app purchase range $9.99–29.99,11-06).

The maker is Adrien Long, a Frenchman, with a studio called Nolca. The App Store developer account is in his personal name. The iOS version launched in Sep 15 with support for 11 languages on day one, and each country's store name was rewritten in the search terms locals actually use: France "Menus de la semaine" (weekly menus), Spain "Menú semanal y compra" (weekly menu and shopping), Germany "Essensplaner & Rezepte" (meal planner and recipes), Netherlands "Weekmenu & Boodschappen" (weekly menu and groceries).

### How big it actually got

The main battlefield was iOS France; Android came later.

| Where | Metric | Date |
|---|---|---|
| App Store France | 500 ratings in total, 4.7 stars; 10-28 went to 319 ratings | 11-06 |
| App Store France, Food & Drink free chart | Bouncing between #1 and #2 | Early November |
| App Store France overall grossing chart | Best rank: #132 | 11-05 |
| App Store France overall free chart | Ranked #4 in the first week of October, behind Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT, when it had "only 6 reviews" (jechange.fr weekly chart) | Early October |
| App Store Spain | Rating count 13 → 131, category grossing #4 | 10-31 → 11-06 |
| App Store Belgium | Category chart #1, overall grossing #81 | Early November |
| App Store Canada, Switzerland / Italy / Germany | Category grossing #5 / #23 / #51 | Early November |
| Google Play | Listed on 10-18; installs 10-29 vs 122,11-06 vs 3,638,11-02, growing 1,848 in one day | 11-06 |
| Google Play France, Food & Drink | Grossing #6, free #13 | 11-06 |

Downloads are modest, yet it ranks high on the grossing chart: few people install it, but a high share of those who do pay. That is the effect of a hard paywall. Revenue is not public, and the founder has not posted about it online.

No direct evidence was found for where the early-October surge in France came from (it reached the top 4 of the free overall chart with only 6 reviews). In the same period, several French Instagram accounts were posting Reels built on the same template ("Je découvre ça QUE MAINTENANT ??" I'm only now finding out about this??; "Lidl's whole week of menus plus a shopping list, done in 2 minutes"). They likely helped drive it, but per-video view counts were not retrieved, **unverified** . Meta and TikTok's European ad libraries also returned no results for it, though that doesn't mean it didn't advertise.

### Where users came from: one template, four languages

The acquisition visible is almost entirely short-video accounts, all cut from one mold:

- **Spain** : @maffefood (the one above), @lorena.mealplanning (11 followers, started posting 11-04, caption literally reads "📢 PUBLICIDAD | Colaboración con Yuma" with #ad, direct evidence of paid partnership);

- **英语** :@yolanabites(86 粉),10-19 到 10-26 每天好几条,开头都是「Been cooking for 6 years and NOW I FIND THIS???」(做饭 6 年了现在才发现这个),结尾「Download Yuma… link in my bio」,同一批视频同步发到 Facebook,播放一两百;

- **German** : @heni.foodie ("Lidlll???… Ads") and several other new accounts;

- **French** : on Instagram, @aidafood88, @lea.lenregistre, @livewith_louise ("Cette app est DINGUE", this app is insane).

There are only two hooks: one is **a local supermarket name plus a specific amount** ("two people at Carrefour for 55 €", 13k views), the other is a **"why did nobody tell me earlier"** style surprise opener. Videos that just say "this app is great" stall at a hundred or two views. The ones that name a supermarket and a price, and make people want to post their own spend in the comments, are the ones that take off.

Can't tell whether these accounts are the studio's own network or outsourced to a UGC agency, or how much was spent. Only one is marked as a partnership.

### It didn't invent this. The US already ran it first:

| Product | Where | Launched | Scale | Relationship to Yuma |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TapCook: Budget Meal Plans | Mainly US | 2026-07-17 | App Store US 6,817 ratings (11-06); Google Play 66k installs, +21k in a week; charted #2 in US Food & Drink Top Grossing; screensdesign estimates about $75k monthly revenue | The prototype. Tagline "A week of dinners, priced at your store", $9.99/month or $29.99/year. Yuma's Play listing still carries US units like "cups, ounces and °F". |
| Potto | US | 2026-06-12 | App Store US 2,360 ratings | Same idea: pick a supermarket, set a budget, get a weekly menu, with creators pushing discount codes |
| Jow | France | 2018 | Google Play 6.37M installs; App Store France 48k ratings, charted #2 in Food & Drink Top Grossing | The French leader. Free, earns by adding ingredients to Carrefour and other supermarket carts in one tap. |
| Jowzi (from Jow) | France | 2026-07-16 | Google Play 77k installs, featured on M6 TV | A big company's AI grocery assistant, going head-to-head with Yuma in France |
| Basta Batchcooking | France | 2025-10 | Google Play 230k installs, charted #4 in France Food & Drink Top Grossing | Cooks a whole week's meals in one weekend session, not a budgeted dinner for each day |
| AsCook, menu_semaine (FR), cuantobasta (ES), Mealpot, Savour (UK), etc. | Mostly iOS | 2026 年 9–November | All small, TikTok accounts with a few hundred followers at most | Almost identical hook and approach: also posting "a week of dinners + budget list" videos |

TapCook is also downloadable on the App Stores in France, Spain and Germany, and even has French and Spanish interfaces, but it has only 1 ratings in France and 6 in Spain (11-06). It's listed there and not seriously worked. Yuma took that empty ground first: local-language store names, local supermarket prices, local people in short videos.

### What users are complaining about

France rating 4.7 stars; the complaints cluster around three things, nearly every one fits:

- **You have to pay** : "You make an app to save us grocery money, and the app itself costs money, and not cheap", "Only 3 days free trial, forget it". Under the viral Spanish video someone also warned "you have to pay".

- **Prices are off** : "The estimate and the real price differ by 23 €, too far off, the idea is good but it needs a big rework" (11-03).

- **Dinner only** : "Only one meal a day, weekends too, sure grocery shopping is cheap", "At least plan lunch and dinner, and prices should be real".

The people who praise it talk about money too: "Ça respecte mon budget et je fais des économies de fou" (It respects my budget and I save a crazy amount). A Spanish user also asked for Romania so it could use local supermarkets and prices. That suggests country-by-country, supermarket-by-supermarket localization is itself what users want.

Also, 11-04 @maffefood has started posting "lunch and dinner" videos. That suggests Yuma is filling the dinner-only gap, or at least shifting its marketing that way (inference).

### If it were you

**B. Worth a try, but don't go head-to-head with it in France and Spain.** Yuma proves a playbook: take a subscription app that worked in the US, be first to ship it in a European language, then use cheap short videos of local supermarkets. The product itself has no barrier; ChatGPT can cobble one together. In the three months, France and Spain already have a big player, Jowzi, and a string of copycats.

**Who it's for** : Indie devs with 1–2 years' experience, who speak a language Yuma hasn't seriously targeted (it only charts in Italian Top Grossing at #23 and German at #51; no sign of it yet in Polish, Portuguese, the Nordic languages or Romanian), and who can shoot or hire someone to shoot dozens of vertical videos and can take the one-star reviews that come with a hard paywall.

**Who it doesn't fit** : anyone aiming to take on France or Spain head-on (Yuma, Jow, Jowzi, AsCook and cuantobasta are already crowded in); anyone who can't produce reliable local prices (the second most common complaint, and the only real "product" in this category); anyone who wants free + ads (this business runs on the paywall, and download volume was never big).

**How to build it** : follow the TapCook / Yuma flow (household size, supermarket, tastes, budget → weekly menu → a shopping list sorted by aisle with estimated prices), and include lunch in v1. Make "how far off the estimate is" your core metric. Pull online prices from the two or three biggest local supermarket chains. Use the search terms locals actually type for store names ("weekly menu", "grocery list" equivalents), ship iOS first and add Android after it works. Yuma added Android a month after its iOS launch.

**How to get users** : run 5–10 small accounts in the local language, posting daily, one supermarket, one amount and one household size per video, opening with "why did nobody tell me earlier". The goal isn't every video going viral; it's one in several dozen that gets people posting their own spend in the comments. Then find a few local food creators for sponsored posts, clearly labeled. In Spain, one 380k-view video took Yuma's ratings up 10x in a week.

**When to move** : Yuma launched in September, and within two months covered France, Spain, Belgium and Switzerland. The next likely moves are Italy, Germany and the Netherlands (inference). To take a language it hasn't locked in, launch before the end of 2026. January is Europe's "save money on New Year, order less takeout" season, so catching that wave is best.

**What would mean you read it wrong** : ① TapCook starts seriously advertising in Europe, or Yuma breaks into Italian or German Top Grossing before 5, and the open languages are gone; ② Jow makes Jowzi free while still planning meals by budget, the paywall model stops working in French-speaking markets, and local leaders in other countries copy it; ③ you post 50+ videos in the same template in a new language and none gets past 10k views: the hook doesn't land in that market, or people there don't shop by comparing supermarket prices.

Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TapCook: Budget Meal Plans | iOS | 2026-07-17 | iOS US 6,707 ratings; Play 66k installs (7 days, +21k); screensdesign lists about $75k revenue | Prototype, US and Canada only. Yuma's product, tagline and pricing are nearly identical; the difference is the multilingual European localization. |
| Potto - meal planner | iOS | 2026-06-12 | iOS US 2,360 ratings | Same model, US only, relying on creators pushing discount codes |
| Jow | Android | 2018 | Play 6.37M installs; iOS France 48k ratings | Free, earns by adding to supermarket carts with partners in one tap. Yuma requires a subscription and focuses on budget meal planning and price estimates, without supermarket integration. |

| Basta Batchcooking | iOS | 2025-10-02 | Play 230k installs, charted #4 in France Food & Drink Top Grossing | Focused on batch prep, not a budgeted dinner plan for each day |
| Mealime / Plan to Eat / Samsung Food | iOS | 2016–2017 | Several thousand ratings each | Mainly for saving and organizing recipes, not automatically planning meals by local store prices and a budget |

Where users come from

- **Verified** **TikTok UGC account network (Spain)** : @maffefood (435 followers) has posted a daily supermarket weekly-budget video since 10-25, and the 10-28 one reached 388k views; timing lines up with iOS Spain ratings going 13→131

- **Verified** **paid creator collab** : @lorena.mealplanning's 11-04 post is tagged "📢 PUBLICIDAD | Colaboración con Yuma" #ad

- **Verified** **English/German UGC accounts** : @yolanabites posts several same-template videos a day from 10-19 to 10-26 (synced to Facebook); @heni.foodie is marked "Ads"

- Inferred **Instagram Reels (France)** : @aidafood88, @lea.lenregistre and @livewith_louise promote Yuma with "Je découvre ça QUE MAINTENANT" style hooks. Whether that caused the early-October climb in France is unverified.

- **Verified** **Store localization/ASO** : 11 languages; each country's store name uses local search terms (Menus de la semaine / Menú semanal y compra / Weekmenu & Boodschappen)

- Inferred **Meta/TikTok paid ads** : no matches in the metaads or tiktokads libraries (tiktokads status unconfirmed); not finding ads doesn't mean none were run

- **Verified** **Media** : jechange.fr named it in its early-October France free overall chart article (passive exposure after the climb)

## Yuma: Weekly Meal Planner (app.yuma.android): why it worked

In short: Yuma is a subscription app by French indie developer Adrien Long (Nolca studio, based in Cape Town) that plans a week of dinners on a budget and builds a priced shopping list. It closely copies the product and pricing of the US app TapCook (2026-07 launch, screensdesign estimates about $75k monthly revenue), got to European languages first, including French, Spanish and German, then used a network of small accounts on TikTok and Instagram to seed UGC, pushing iOS France's Food & Drink chart to #1. Android came later as a second channel, 10-18.

### 1. Data: home turf is iOS France; Android came later

**Google Play (data card, googleplay library)**

- Launched 2026-10-18; installs went from 10-29 to 122,11-06 to 3,638 (7 days +3,516), with 11-02 +1,848 on a single day.

- 11-06 chart positions: France Food & Drink Top Grossing #6, Top Free #13; Spain Top Free #16; South Africa and the Netherlands Top Grossing #53. In-app purchases $9.99–29.99.

**App Store (appstore library, app_id 6811329112; iTunes lookup 2026-11-06)**

- Launched 2026-09-15; the developer account is in the individual name Adrien Long; supports 11 languages, with store names localized for each country (French "Yuma : Menus de la semaine", Spanish "Menú semanal y compra", German "Essensplaner & Rezepte", Dutch "Weekmenu & Boodschappen").

- France: ratings count 10-28 is 319,11-06 is 500 (+7 over the last 160 days), 4.7 stars; Food&Drink Top Free bounces between #1 and #2, best overall Top Grossing is #132 (11-05).

- Spain: ratings count 10-31 is 13,11-06 is 131, up 10x in a week; category Top Grossing #4.

- Belgium: category #1 (charted in both Top Paid and Top Free), overall Top Grossing #81. Canada and Switzerland category Top Grossing #5, Italy #23, Germany #51.

- In jechange.fr's weekly roundup for October week 1, Yuma ranked #4 on France's App Store overall Top Free chart, behind Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT. At the time it had only 6 reviews. The article calls it made by "a French indie developer" and says it is "iPhone only". Source: [www.jechange.fr/telecom/mobile/news/top-10-applications-grat…](https://www.jechange.fr/telecom/mobile/news/top-10-applications-gratuites-plus-telechargees-semaine-5-octobre-2026)

Bottom line: the real volume is on iOS in France. It hit the France Top Free overall chart first, then spread to Spain, Belgium and others. The Android version only came out at 10-18, and its growth timing matches the iOS Spain surge (after 10-28).

### 2. Competitors

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale | How Yuma differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TapCook: Budget Meal Plans(TestMaxx) | iOS/Android | 2026-07-17 | iOS US 6,707 rating; Play 66,459 installs, +7k in 21 days; US category Top Grossing #2; screensdesign lists "$75k revenue". | **Yuma's prototype** . Tagline "A week of dinners, priced at your store", priced at $9.99/month or $29.99/year. TapCook only covers the US and Canada, and Yuma brings the same thing to Europe. |
| Potto - meal planner(Anete Ziedina) | iOS | 2026-06-12 | iOS US 2,360 ratings | Same idea: pick your supermarket, set a budget, generate a week's dinner menu. In the US market it also relies on influencer discount codes. |
| Jow | iOS/Android | 2018 | Play 6.37M installs; iOS France 48k ratings; France category Top Grossing #2. | The France leader. Free, and it makes money by partnering with supermarkets so ingredients go straight into carts at Carrefour and others. Yuma forces a subscription and doesn't integrate with supermarkets; its selling points are "by budget" and "prices already calculated". |
| Jowzi (from Jow) | iOS/Android | 2026-07-16 | Play 77k installs; appeared in an M6 TV segment (TikTok @m6magazines, 250k views). | A big company's AI grocery assistant, going head-to-head with Yuma in France. |
| Basta Batchcooking | iOS/Android | 2025-10 | Play 230k installs, charted #4 in France Food & Drink Top Grossing | Focused on batch meal prep, cooking a whole week at once, not on arranging dinners by daily budget. |
| Mealime, Plan to Eat, Samsung Food (Whisk). | iOS/Android | 2016–2017 | Long-established, with thousands of ratings. | Mainly for saving and managing recipes, not for ordering dinners by "this store's prices + weekly budget". |
| The same wave of newcomers: AsCook (FR), menu_semaine (FR), cuantobasta.app (ES), Mealpot, Dialed, Savour (UK), Gust, mangiamy, foodieflow. | Mostly iOS | 2026 年 9–November | All very small (TikTok accounts with a few hundred to a few thousand followers). | Nearly identical pitch and playbook: official TikTok accounts or UGC accounts posting "a week of dinners + budget shopping list". |

Bottom line: this isn't an original Yuma idea. TapCook and Potto have already proven it in the US; Yuma's position is "TapCook's localized European version".

### 3. Growth tactics

1. **TikTok / Instagram UGC seeding accounts (confirmed, main channel)**
    - Spain @maffefood (435 followers): from 10-25 onward posted daily "how much is a week of dinners at Mercadona / Lidl / Carrefour", every post tagged #yuma. The 10-28 post "¿Crees que es posible en #mercadona?" got 388k views and 22k likes; the 11-04 post "¿¿¿Almuerzos y cenas???" got 93k views. The timing lines up with iOS Spain ratings jumping from 13 to 131 (10-31 → 11-06). (TikHub search, 2026-11-06)
    - Spain @lorena.mealplanning (11 followers): started posting in 11-04, captions marked "📢 PUBLICIDAD | Colaboración con Yuma" with #ad. **This is direct evidence of paid partnership.**
    - English @yolanabites (86 followers): from 10-19 to 10-26 posted several videos a day with nearly identical hooks ("Been cooking for 6 years and NOW I FIND THIS???", "Download Yuma… link in my bio"), with the same videos cross-posted to Facebook. A typical batch UGC account, but views only in the hundreds or low thousands.
    - German @heni.foodie ("Lidlll???… Ads"), @callie.eats3, @angelacomida2026, @rosapc8274: new or small accounts, same template.
The hooks are the same mold as the Spanish and English batches (Jina search and page scrape). The earliest French surge (reaching overall Top Free #6 with only 4 reviews in early October) most likely came from Instagram Reels, but individual view counts were not captured, so this is unverified.
    - The playbook: hook on "spend X euros at a supermarket for a week of food", name-drop local chains (Mercadona, Lidl, Carrefour, Walmart), then add a "why didn't anyone tell me sooner" surprise opener.

2. **Official Instagram (confirmed)** : the @yuma account posted a launch image-and-text post on 2026-09-14 with "LINK IN BIO".

3. **Paid ads (not found)** : the Meta Ad Library and TikTok Ad Library (which only covers ads targeting Europe) did not turn up Yuma (metaads/tiktokads library, 2026-11-06; tiktokads status unconfirmed). Not finding them doesn't mean they weren't run.

4. **Store localization / ASO (confirmed)** : each country's store listing uses local search terms. "Menus de la semaine", "Menú semanal y compra", "Weekmenu & Boodschappen" are all terms users actually search.

5. **Press (confirmed, passive exposure)** : named in jechange.fr's weekly chart article. This came after it charted, so it's a result, not the cause of the growth.

6. **X / founder personal brand (none)** : searched x-radar for yuma meal, adrienxlong and nolca, 60 days, 0 posts total.

### 4. Why it took off

- **Copied a model that's already been validated** : TapCook proved in the US that people will pay $9.99/month for "enter a supermarket + budget → a week of dinners with a price list". Yuma even matches the pricing ($9.99/$29.99). The Play listing still says "cups, ounces and °F", which shows it was adapted from a US template.

- **Grabbed Europe's language markets before the original could enter** : TapCook only covers the US and Canada, leaving the French, Spanish and German markets empty. It launched with 11 languages from day one, localized store listings by country, and picked up volume from local search terms.

- **Rode the inflation and saving-money trend in France and Spain** : users in reviews repeatedly say "respecte mon budget" and "économies"; TikTok videos use #ahorro and #economía. Supermarket price comparison is already a popular topic in both countries.

- **Used a cheap UGC alt-account network instead of paid acquisition** : the same template shows up in French, Spanish, English and German videos. One Spanish video reached 388k views and alone pushed iOS Spain ratings up 10x in a week.

- **Hard paywall + 3-day free trial** : you can't use it without paying (the developer's review replies mention a "3-day free trial"). So downloads aren't large, yet it still squeezes into the top of France's Food & Drink Top Grossing (best overall iOS Top Grossing #132, Play category Top Grossing #6).

- **Retention signals are okay, with a risk** : France 4.7 stars. Negative reviews cluster around three points: prices are estimated inaccurately (off by 23 euros from actual), it only plans dinners, and you can't use it without paying.

### 5. Differentiation

Globally, there's almost no differentiation; it's the same product as TapCook / Potto. In Europe, its differences are:

- Compared with Jow / Jowzi, it only handles "a week of dinners planned by budget, with costs worked out". It doesn't sell groceries or integrate with supermarket carts;

- Compared with long-established recipe apps, you don't pick recipes yourself; it generates a full week in one step.

What actually made it take off isn't product innovation but **geographic arbitrage** : it took a category already proven in the US and was the first to bring it to European language markets, backed by a UGC alt-account network. The differentiation is just "localization + early start", which is easy to catch up to: Jowzi, AsCook and menu_semaine in France, and cuantobasta in Spain are already in the same niche.

### 6. How many people know about it

- Revenue: not public (no TrustMRR listing, the founder hasn't posted numbers on X, nothing found in search).

- Press: only a passing mention in jechange.fr's chart article.

- The category itself is already visible: TapCook shows "$75k" on screensdesign, and TikTok has a long list of new apps using the same playbook. So Yuma counts as "being talked about in a small circle", but the model it sits in is already crowded.

### 7. Takeaways

- "Validated in the US → first to localize into multiple European languages" geographic arbitrage: watch subscription apps that just started gaining volume on US charts and are US/Canada-only, then bring them to France, Spain, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.

- UGC hook template: a question like "Is it possible to eat for a week for X euros at Mercadona / Lidl?", naming a local supermarket with a specific amount, works much better than a generic "this app is great" (388k views vs. a few hundred views).

- Use local category search terms in the store listing, and support 11 languages from launch.

### 8. Still unclear

- There's no direct evidence for what drove the earliest French surge (reaching overall Top Free #4 with only 6 reviews in early October): Instagram Reels, paid ads, or an Apple editorial pick.

- Unclear whether the UGC accounts were built in-house or outsourced to a UGC agency, or how much was spent. Only @lorena.mealplanning is labeled as a partnership.

- Real paid conversion and churn are unknown; inaccurate price estimates may be hurting renewals.

- The name "Yuma" collides with Yuma, Arizona (a US city) and Yuka (a barcode-scanning app), which interferes with search. Whether that limits growth in the US and UK is uncertain.
