# A "one-tap copy" sticker site: how Seukku (스꾸) went global with one existing Korean word and a wave of "hidden gem site" videos

**What it is** A website and app of cute Korean-style stickers and special characters. Tap to copy, then paste into Instagram Stories or KakaoTalk.

**Why it took off** It used the existing Korean term for "decorating stories" as its name and domain, so searching the word finds it. It launched as a free web page first, so overseas creators only had to put the domain in their video to send traffic. Its top video hit 887k views.

**B** **How you could play it** Don't fight over Korean-style stickers. Pick another country or aesthetic community, use the local colloquial term for "decorating stories" to build a free one-tap-copy site, get tutorial creators to recommend it, and invest in search.

Grade B: the playbook is clear, the technical bar is low, and almost no indie devs know about it. But its traction rode the "Korea is trending" hype, which followers can't get. It's already multilingual and eating into Southeast Asia and the US, and monetization is only in the range of a top-30 Top Grossing spot. Chatter in small circles

Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-08-07 · 11-07 installs 91,222

A small Korean team built a sticker site: tap a sticker to copy it, switch to the text box in Instagram Stories, paste, and you have a sticker. The mechanic wasn't theirs; an app did it a year earlier. What made it run was two distribution moves: they named it after a word Korean women already use every day, and they launched as a web page first, so creators in Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and the US could film a "recommend this free site" video. Below: how it took off, where the money came from, who's competing, and which part you can copy.

### A video with 880k views

In 2026 Jun 15, an Instagram account called @seukkuu posted its first post: "스꾸 편하게 하고싶어서 만들었어요", roughly "I wanted to make Seukku easier, so I built this." The post didn't ask people to download an app; it said to search #스꾸 on Naver or use the profile link. At that point it was just a web page, seukku.cc.

"Seukku" isn't a brand name. It's everyday Korean slang, short for "스토리 꾸미기" or "스티커 꾸미기", meaning decorating Instagram Stories with stickers. The tag #스꾸 was already used on TikTok 2021 years earlier, and Esquire Korea wrote a piece in July 2024 titled "This is how to decorate your story with 'Seukku'." In other words, the team registered an entire category's name as its own domain.

A little over a month later, in Jul 27, a US tutorial account called riu.drafts posted a vertical video: a few taps, and a blank story is covered in bunnies, handwritten text, and doodles. The caption was one line: "With this website full of cute stickers, you can make a nice IG story in a few taps." By Nov 6, the video had 887k views and 39k saves (TikTok, 11-06).

### What it is

Open seukku.cc and you get a sticker wall sorted by category: animals, fonts, retro, special characters, emoticons. Tap one and the image goes to your clipboard. Switch to Instagram Stories or KakaoTalk, long-press in the text box, paste, done. No saving images, no cutting out backgrounds. The Google Play page says "10,000+ stickers, updated weekly." It also lets you add stickers to a WhatsApp sticker pack, auto-cut your own photos into stickers, and make four-panel photo frames.

It replaced the two old routes Korean women used: commenting "sticker please" under an Instagram creator's post and waiting for a DM with a PNG, or saving images from Pinterest and cutting them out on an iPhone. One App Store review put it bluntly: "Honestly, it's way better than begging for stickers in IG comments."

The timeline moved fast:

| Timeline | What happened |
|---|---|
| 6-15 | Website goes live; official IG posts its first post |
| 7-15 | iOS release |
| 7-20 | According to its own advertiser pitch deck, it reached #2 overall in the Korean App Store Top Free chart and #1 in Lifestyle |
| Late July | Creators in Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and the US post videos in a cluster |
| 8-07 | Android listing |
| Mid August | Rewarded ads and Pro subscription added |
| 9-17 | Sticker keyboard launches (subscribers only) |
| 10-21 | Another wave: digimemory.bycin's "headphone doodle" tutorial, 339k views |
| 10-29 → 11-06 | Android installs reach 78,032 → 91,222,7 days later 13k (Google Play, 11-06) |

### Where the traffic comes from

**First, the name is the search term.** A user who wants to decorate their story searches "스꾸" on Naver or Google, and seukku.cc is the first result. The official account has taught people to "search #스꾸" since its very first post. Even better, the competing clone CHAKK also tags its posts #스꾸, which amounts to free traffic for Seukku. The site also has a row of guide articles: how to decorate Stories, how to decorate KakaoTalk, sticker copyright, emoticon combos, featured covers. All of it is built to catch search.

**Second, web pages are built to get shared.** Almost every overseas viral video follows the same script: "a free website" + "search seukku.cc." Taiwan's Kitto 7-20 captioned it "Y2K cute sticker site... just go to seukku.cc to find all kinds of cute stickers, and the interface even has Chinese" (21k views). Thailand's bearbykim wrote "พิกัดเว็บไซต์", "website coordinates" (25k). Indonesia's rafakhira: "this web was soo cute" (49k). Thailand's yotayo.studio, 208k. Creators only need to drop a domain into the caption, and viewers can open it right away. No download, Chinese interface, and the path from click to use is about as short as it gets.

**Third, the "Korea is trending" angle.** A Thai creator named ___furby titled a video "Seeing this website with Koreans" (92k). Vietnam's ttl_hina wrote "try the Korean trending app right now." A Japanese account wrote "for people who want a Korean feel on their stories." What they sell isn't just stickers, it's the Korean aesthetic.

These numbers don't look like they came from the official accounts. @seukkuu's own TikTok videos mostly got a few hundred to a few thousand views, and the best one got 43k (9-18). I found no evidence of paid acquisition, but ad platforms don't show everything, so I can't say for sure none was run.

In its advertiser pitch deck it reported figures for Jul 3 to Aug 1 (its own GA4, can't be verified): 433k active users, 2.79M copies, from 181 countries. Korea 45%, Thailand 11.6%, Taiwan 11.5%, Indonesia 7.8%, Japan 3.7%. iOS 74%. Women 75%, mostly ages 18–24. 30-day retention 44%. Overseas combined is over half.

Android came later. From 11-04 it entered the Brazil Google Play Lifestyle free chart, peaking at #26 (Google Play chart, 11-06). Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam were also in the one-to-two-hundred range. I haven't pinned down where Brazil's volume came from. On TikTok I only found a few Portuguese videos with a few hundred to three thousand views (for example 11-03, "Eu AMEIII, App 叫 Seukku!", i.e. "I LOVE IIII, the app is called Seukku!"). My guess is it's tied to WhatsApp sticker packs, since Brazilians share figurinhas daily, though it could also just be that Brazil's Lifestyle chart has a low bar.

### Where the money comes from

Traffic peaked in July, and by August it had connected every revenue stream it could:

| Revenue | Pricing | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Pro subscription | Weekly ₩1,100 / monthly ₩3,900 / yearly ₩39,000 | No ads, downloads, original resolution, sticker keyboard |
| Commercial license (Biz) | Monthly ₩9,900; Biz Pro monthly ₩49,000 | Free assets are marked not for commercial use. To use them commercially you buy a license. Biz Pro covers multi-store, TV, and outdoor ads. |
| Rewarded ads | — | Watch an ad before copying or making a photo frame |
| Selling on-site ad placements | Main banner ₩800k a week, detail page ₩600k a week, feed ₩400k a week | Plus custom branded sticker packs, sold to beauty, stationery, and card brands on the pitch of "75% women, ages 18–24" |

It did collect money. Over the 10 days from 10-28 to 11-06, it sat on the Korean App Store Top Grossing Lifestyle chart every day, peaking at #31. It also ranked #38 in Macau, #50 in Hong Kong, #68 in Thailand, and #69 in Taiwan (App Store Top Grossing). Exact revenue can't be determined from outside. At Lifestyle #31, my estimate is under tens of thousands of USD a month (a guess, low confidence).

Costs are low: the site says stickers are "self-made or AI-generated," with new ones weekly.

The cost is reputation. After ads were added in August, App Store complaints clustered around one thing: "ads suddenly appeared", "you have to watch two ads at once", "you said once a day". Some commenters also taught others to screenshot and cut out images on iPhone to skip the ads. The iOS rating count has barely moved over these 10 days (Korea 114 → 117, Taiwan unchanged at 57). The download peak is past, though a new October video with 339k views shows it's still spreading overseas in waves.

### Who it's competing with

| Product | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| CHAKK(챡),iOS | 2025-06 | 646 ratings in the Korean store | The same "copy → paste into Stories" mechanic, a year earlier; but only an app, only Korean, 3,000+ stickers |
| STIT 스팃,iOS | 2026-06 | 19 ratings | Stickers, frames, and collages have to be edited inside the app; it's not one-tap copy |
| Bake,iOS | 2024-12 | 39 ratings | Make your own stickers with AI, with no ready-made asset library |
| SeukArt,iOS | 2026-09 | 0 ratings | Named after Seukku, does special fonts and symbols; didn't take off |
| Instagram's built-in stickers, GIPHY, iPhone background removal | Has been around all along | System level | Usable, but no 'Korean vibe' in the assets |
| sticker.ly and other WhatsApp sticker packs | Long-established | Huge in Brazil | Built around WhatsApp, not IG Stories |

CHAKK is the one to watch in this space: same mechanic, a year earlier, and it only reached a few hundred ratings. The gap isn't features, it's distribution. 스꾸 has a website, multiple languages, and that name.

Almost nobody in dev circles writes about it. No startup media coverage, no founder has shared revenue, and searches for 'seukku' or '스꾸' on X show almost no discussion in the last 90 days (11-06). The only public business numbers it has are ones it published itself to attract advertisers.

### If it were you

**Grade B.** You can follow it, but don't go head-to-head for the 'Korean-style stickers' label. What's worth copying is the playbook: find a decoration habit that already has a name in another country or aesthetic, build a free website where one tap copies, and let local creators recommend it. The weak spot is that you don't have the 'trending in Korea' banner, and it's already multilingual, with Southeast Asia and the US being taken over.

**Who it suits** : 1–2 people, at least one of whom can draw or can use AI to batch out a consistent style, and who are already part of an aesthetic scene (Japanese, Thai, Brazilian, Latin American Spanish-speaking, Western coquette, etc.) and know what the girls there call 'decorated stories'.

**Who it doesn't suit** : anyone who only wants to do 'Korean-style stickers' (it already owns the term and those creators); anyone who wants to sell subscriptions through an app (once it added ads and subscriptions, the bad reviews came and rating counts stalled); anyone without a sticker style of their own who can only write code (there's no technical moat here, the hard part is making the art look good).

**How to build it** : start with a website, not an app. A sticker wall where one tap copies to the clipboard, that opens on mobile and works with IG Stories, WhatsApp, and the chat apps locals actually use. Use the local colloquial name for this practice as the name and domain (first check TikTok to see if the hashtag has years of content). Add new assets weekly, state that they're free but not for commercial use, and leave an opening for commercial licensing. Build the app after the website has traction, and only for features that require installing: keyboard, ad removal, offline use.

**How to acquire users** : no paid ads, go after creators. Copy what 스꾸 did: find the mid-sized accounts that specialize in 'IG Stories tutorials' and 'hidden-gem website recommendations', and give them a ready-made tutorial template (a blank story, filled with stickers in a few taps), with just one domain in the caption. Build search in parallel: publish guide articles under the local colloquial term. Brazil is worth a look first: it charted there, yet almost no Portuguese-speaking creators are pushing it, which suggests the gap is still open.

**When to be early** : the earlier the better. These 'hidden-gem website' trends come in waves roughly once a quarter, and this one peaked from July to October. To catch the wave, you need a first video with 100k views in a given market before Q1 of 2027.

**What would mean you've got it wrong** : ① it launches localized assets in Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese in early 2027, and creators in those markets start promoting seukku.cc, meaning it has taken each country's gap itself; ② two months after your site launches, you've reached over 20 tutorial creators and none of their videos pass 50k views, which means the playbook doesn't travel without the 'Korean vibe' banner; ③ Instagram turns these paste-in stickers into an official sticker library or changes how images are pasted into Stories, and the whole category gets hit.

A last thought for product builders: sometimes the opportunity isn't building something new, but building the easiest entry point to something everyone is already doing and already has a name for, then using that name as your domain.

## Why 스꾸 Seukku (cc.seukku.app) broke through

> Channels: Google Play (the same product also has an iOS id6790244829 and the website seukku.cc). Research date 2026-11-06.

### One line

A small Korean team's sticker / special-character library in Korean aesthetics: one tap copies it, and pasting it into the Instagram Stories text box turns it into a sticker. It started as a website, using a generic Korean term that already existed, '스꾸' (short for 스토리/스티커 꾸미기, decorating Stories/decorating with stickers). Starting in July 2026, it spread organically through short 'free cute websites' videos from creators in Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, the US, and elsewhere. The Android version is now the tail of this overflow traffic (Brazil, Southeast Asia).

**iOS status** (appstore library, 2026-10-28–11-06): rating counts Korea 114→117, Taiwan 57 unchanged, Thailand 25→24, growth has essentially stalled (Korean users rarely leave ratings, so this only shows growth has slowed). But it has stayed on the Top Grossing chart: Korea Lifestyle Top Grossing peak #31 (on the chart every day for 10 days), Macau 38, Hong Kong 50, Thailand 68, Taiwan 69; free chart Korea Lifestyle 97, Thailand 88. This shows **subscriptions / in-app purchases are generating real revenue in Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Taiwan** , and the download peak (July) has passed.

**Android** : Play shows only Lifestyle free chart ranks (Brazil 26, Taiwan 102, Philippines 117, Thailand 119, Vietnam 173, Indonesia 176), with no Top Grossing ranks; the version is stuck at 1.4.3 (2026-09-21), while iOS is already at 1.4.7 (10-21), suggesting the team's focus is on iOS.

### 2. Competitors

| Product | Where | Launched | Scale | Differences from 스꾸 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CHAKK(챡) | iOS(Gaeun Lee) | 2025-06-24 | Korea store: 646 ratings, +20 in 7 days, Photo & Video free best rank #39 | **Exact same mechanic** (copy → paste into the IG Stories text box), a year earlier. 3,000+ stickers, app only, no website. Even their promo is tagged #스꾸. |
| STIT 스팃 | iOS(DALDAGURY) | 2026-06-21 | 19 ratings | Sticker + frame + collage editor idea, but you edit inside the app; not one-tap copy. |
| Bake - AI 스티커 만들기 | iOS | 2024-12-11 | 39 ratings | Generate your own stickers with AI, no ready-made asset library. |
| STICKERS 손글씨 사진 꾸미기 | iOS | 2026-04-14 | 39 ratings, Top Paid chart | Handwritten-lettering stickers, paid app. |
| "IG creator comment-to-get-a-sticker" | Instagram | Has been around all along | Many | A user review: "Honestly it's way better than commenting on Instagram to get stickers." 스꾸 is really replacing this "comment → DM a PNG" old way. |
| Pinterest PNGs / saving images manually | Web | Has been around all along | Very large | You have to save to camera roll and cut out the subject; 스꾸's pitch is "no saving needed." |
| iOS cutout (Live Stickers / long-press subject) | Big-company features | iOS 16/17 | Built into the system | Turns your own photos into stickers, but no asset library. Negative reviews teach people "screenshot + system cutout" to skip the ads. |
| Instagram built-in stickers / GIPHY | Big-company features | Has been around all along | huge | Mass-market style, no "Korean-style sensibility." |
| Picsart / Meitu / Xiaohongshu-style editors | iOS/Android | Long-established | huge | Those are full editors with a high barrier. 스꾸 is "asset library + clipboard." |
| sticker.ly and other WhatsApp sticker packs | Android | Long-established | Very large in Brazil | Sells WhatsApp sticker packs; 스꾸 also lets you "add directly to a WhatsApp sticker pack," which may be the interface that got it into Brazil (unverified). |
| SeukArt: Fonts, Symbols & Text(Bernd Weber) | iOS | 2026-09-02 | 0 ratings | **Name-piggybacking copycats** : named after "Seuk-," content is special fonts/symbols, no traction. |

Bottom line: **this mechanic wasn't invented by 스꾸** . CHAKK did the same thing a year earlier and only reached a few hundred ratings. 스꾸's growth came from the points below, not the mechanic.

### 3. Growth tactics (evidence)

1. **Brand the category word and push "seukku search"** (confirmed): 「스꾸」 was already a generic term (an Esquire 2024 piece, the #스꾸 hashtag on TikTok since 2021). The official IG copy says 「네이버에 #스꾸 검색」, and rival CHAKK's posts also push #스꾸, so the rival is sending traffic their way. Searching 「스꾸」 on Google and Naver, seukku.cc ranks first, and the site has a stack of /blog guide pages (Instagram story decor, KakaoTalk decor, sticker copyright, emoticon combos, highlight covers...) for SEO.

2. **Website-first suits "share a hidden-gem site" content** (confirmed): overseas viral videos almost all say "free website," "search seukku.cc," "แจกเว็บฟรี," "Y2K可愛貼紙網站," "website gratis." No download needed, language switchable. Creators just paste a domain in the caption and viewers tap to use it, the shortest conversion path. GA4 self-reports 74% iOS, so the main battlefield is IG Stories on iPhone (iOS clipboard images paste into IG's text box most smoothly).

3. **Organic spread by overseas creators, with a "popular in Korea" halo** (confirmed, doesn't look paid): Thailand's ___furby "saw it with Korean people," Vietnam's "Fomo ngay chiếc app đang hot bên Hàn," Japan's asobiba_media "for people who want Korean-style Stories," Taiwan's Creatrip (Korean study/travel account). Top-played: riu.drafts (US) 887k + 443k, yotayo.studio (TH) 208k, ssalviaas (ID) 152k. The official TikTok @seukkuu gets only a few hundred to two thousand views per post. The volume wasn't built by the official account.

4. **Word of mouth in Korea and "free app recommendation" accounts** (confirmed): iOS reviews include "thanks to a friend's recommendation," "it spread on Instagram," "I promoted it on my blog too." Naver blogs have many tutorial posts. On IG there are daily app-rec accounts like "Day 37. Today's app [스꾸 Seukku]."

5. **Paid ads** : no evidence found (Meta / TikTok ad libraries only track listed products, so not finding it doesn't mean it wasn't run).

6. **Android Brazil volume** (speculation): 11-04 entered the Brazil Lifestyle Top Free chart, and in 7 days it added 13k installs. The only Brazilian TikTok "stories website collection" I found had 3,200 views. Likely tied to the WhatsApp sticker-pack feature and Brazil's figurinhas culture, or just a low bar on small-country Lifestyle charts. Unverified.

### 4. Where the money comes from

- **Subscriptions** : 스꾸 Pro ₩1,100/week, ₩3,900/month, ₩39,000/year (no ads, downloads, original quality). **Commercial license** Biz ₩9,900/month, Biz Pro ₩49,000/month (multi-store / TV / outdoor ads). It turns the "free assets can't be used commercially" copyright term into a paid tier (iOS description).

- **Rewarded ads** : you watch an ad before copying or making a frame. It launched in mid-August, and the negative reviews are mostly about it ("two ads in a row," "you said one ad a day").

- **Selling in-app ad slots** : the media kit publicly lists 6 ad placements: main banner ₩800k/week, feed ₩400k/week, detail page ₩600k/week, plus branded sticker packs (seukku.cc/ad). It pitches "75% female, ages 18–24" to beauty, merch, and card apps.

- Very low cost: stickers are "self-made or AI-generated" (official About), with new ones added weekly.

- Evidence: on the iOS Korea Lifestyle Top Grossing chart, it appeared every day for 10 days, best at #31, and also charted in Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, and Taiwan.

### 5. Why it took off

1. **Riding a habit that already existed** : "스꾸" is a daily behavior for Gen Z women, with a name, a tag, and coverage in Esquire. The demand needs no education; it just has to be smoother than "comment for a PNG / save and cut out."

2. **The name is the search term** : users and competitors say "스꾸," and that's what search returns.

3. **The website turned into shareable "hidden-gem site" content** : for overseas creators, recommending a "free website" costs almost nothing, and viewers can use it by tapping a link. CHAKK (app only, Korean only) didn't have this.

4. **Korean aesthetics can be exported** : women in Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Japan want "Korean-feel Stories," and the official self-reported 55% of traffic is overseas.

5. **Monetization kept pace** : traffic peaked in July, and by August it had ads + subscriptions + commercial licenses + ad-slot sales. iOS stayed on the Top Grossing chart. The cost was a drop in reputation, and the rating count stopped growing.

### 6. Differentiation, and whether that's what drove growth

- The feature (copy → paste into IG) is **not the differentiator** . CHAKK had it a year earlier.

- What's actually different: ① **website-first, multilingual** , which fits short-video "here's a website" recommendations; ② **the name claims the category word** ; ③ an asset library of 10k–12k with weekly AI additions (CHAKK has 3k+), plus keyboard, WhatsApp sticker packs, and commercial licensing that the website doesn't offer.

- ① and ② are distribution advantages, which is why it took off. ③ keeps people around (self-reported 30 daily return rate 44%), but it isn't the spark.

### 7. Visibility and copycats

- **Spreading within niche circles** : on the consumer side (TikTok / IG / Threads / Naver blogs, in Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam) it's spread widely, but no one in the tech / indie-dev crowd has written about it. No startup media coverage, no TrustMRR listing, only 0 x-radar mentions of "seukku / 스꾸," and no founder posting revenue. The only public business figures are its own ad media kit (for sales pitches).

- Copycats: SeukArt (2026-09-02, a lookalike name, 0 ratings). CHAKK and STIT are rivals from the same period or earlier, so they aren't copying it.

### 8. What to borrow

- Took an existing colloquial category word with search volume, used it as the brand name and domain, then taught users to "search this word."

- Build the "free website" first, then the app. This suits a short-video "hidden-gem site" narrative. The app holds features that need installation (keyboard, ad removal, offline use) and serves as the monetization layer.

- "Copy to clipboard → paste into the target app" borrows the platform with zero integration (IG Stories, KakaoTalk, WhatsApp).

- Free assets + no-commercial-use terms + a commercial-license subscription. Self-reported GA4 data goes into a media kit to sell native sticker placements to brands.

- Replicate in other markets: a website built around "another country's aesthetic + the local colloquial category word," such as Portuguese/Spanish figurinhas and stories assets, or Japanese or Thai aesthetics exported in reverse.

### 9. Still unclear

- 430k active users and 44% return rate are its own GA4 numbers, unverified; the split between website, iOS, and Android is unclear.

- iOS and Android developer names differ (soobin kim / YoungJun KANG). Unclear whether it's two team members or an agency publishing the apps.

- The source of Android growth in Brazil wasn't found. It may be WhatsApp sticker packs or local small creators.

- Whether it ran paid acquisition wasn't found.

- Actual revenue from subscriptions and ad slots: only the chart rank (around #30 in Korea Lifestyle) is known, so the scale can't be estimated accurately.

- The Play page shows "5+" from a Korean-store view, a different bracket from the 91k in the library, which uses the same metric. Go with the library.
