Afizzy - AI Character Chat · Guru AI Lab

Five messages a day, $359 a tier: Afizzy sold its "AI boyfriend" into the European Top Grossing charts

What it is An AI romance roleplay chat app for women. Its characters are mostly male: mafia figures, debt collectors, exes. It comes with AI video, and every message costs coins.

Why it took off Behind it is a team from the Guru group, which has been going global for years. They use existing Google and Facebook ad accounts plus a steady stream of female TikTok micro-creators to buy installs, then recover the money through per-message coin charges, with subscriptions and coin top-ups on top.

CHow you could follow Don't copy it into the Nth character chat. Teams with paid-acquisition experience and budget could pick a language nobody is serious about (Turkish, Polish, Japanese) and localize women-focused storylines, copying its per-install creator payouts and invite-code tactics.

C grade: the category is a red ocean, the leaders have tens of millions of installs, and a batch of similar apps are buying ads at the same time. Afizzy got in through an ad account and creative output that followers can't easily replicate; you can learn a full playbook from it, but following it is not a good bet. Few people know about it yet

Afizzy is an AI character romance chat app for women. Three months after its Google Play launch it had 1.33M installs and climbed the overall Top Grossing charts in France, Germany, Italy and Brazil. The product isn't new, and the category already has dozens of similar apps with leaders in the tens of millions of installs. It got in because of an outbound company that is very good at buying ads, plus an aggressive per-message charge. Below: what it is, where the money comes from, where the users come from, and whether there's room for you.

A review that downloaded the app to escape ads

In Oct 2026 31, a Brazilian user gave Afizzy 4 stars on the App Store under the title "Please read this". She downloaded it because "the ads were driving me crazy", expecting another generic AI chat app, and found "the characters are great, the story is gripping, and the replies are so good I hardly ever need to regenerate".

Then came the star she took away: "The biggest problem is Fizz. Every message costs a lot, and the daily freebies only cover about five messages. Subscriptions and buying Fizz on their own are both too expensive." Her closing line: "I'll keep using it because I really love it, but I'm disappointed."

Ads bring people in, the story keeps them, and then every message charges them. That's basically the whole business in three steps.

What it is

Open afizzy.com and the homepage says it in one line: "AI character chat built for stories and emotional connection", with "slow-burn romance" and "imagined roleplay" below. The About page is more direct: "Designed with women's stories in mind."

The homepage characters are almost all men, each with a portrait and an AI-generated short video, and the titles read like web-novel blurbs (11-06 homepage):

CharacterOne-line setupMessages
Adrian VossA mafia marriage: minutes before the families arrive, he realizes the ring is missing1.4M
Julian LaurentHe bet he could make anyone fall for him in thirty days, and he picked you576k

Kian VossA debt collector noticed you by chance, and you have no idea65k
Damian SterlingYour husband knows he doesn't love you, you know it, and now I know it too18k

Dark-mafia, forbidden, slow-burn romance: the old otome-game and romance-novel playbook, moved into AI chat. The chat also lets characters send you images and videos. The iOS version is "Afizzy - AI Character Stories", launched Jul 15; the Google Play version followed Aug 6, developer Guru AI Lab.

Metric

  • Installs: Google Play 1,330,512 total (11-06); 10-29 to 11-05 added 7k over these 114 days, about 16k a day. Since launch the curve has been flat, with no sudden spike. It looks like daily bought installs, not organic spread.
  • Ratings: 10,826, 4.75 stars, adding 170 to 220 a day steadily.
  • Top Grossing (Google Play, 11-06): overall #79 in France, #92 in Germany, #98 in Italy, #99 in Brazil; a week ago it was #86 in France, #102 in Germany, #138 in Italy. Entertainment category Top Grossing: #21 Italy, #24 France, #25 Germany, #60 US.
  • iOS: US store 839 ratings, 4.86 stars (11-06); Entertainment Top Grossing #24 in Brazil, #25 in Argentina.
  • Revenue: no public figures. The estimate site AppGazers puts the Play version at $210K to $1.1M a month, between 10-07 and 11-06. The range is very wide, so treat it as a rough order of magnitude only.

Where the money comes from: pay per message, and subscriptions don't stop it

Afizzy's currency is Fizz, and every message costs one. iOS users say you get 50 Fizz for checking in daily and about 70 more for following accounts. "50 a day is fine, but it doesn't last." On top of the subscription you still have to buy Fizz separately, with single-pack store prices from $0.99 to $359.99.

Nearly every bad review complains about this:

"I like these characters, but like everyone else I have one problem: why do I still have to keep buying Fizz after subscribing? A few back-and-forths and the Fizz is gone." (iOS US store, 10-25)
"Even with membership you still have to keep buying credits to chat. So what am I subscribing for?" (iOS US store, 10-18,4 stars)
"I was really into the chat and it made me subscribe... I had to stop and wait a whole month for payday." (iOS US store, 9-20)

Mid-conversation it stalls on "Fizz needed to continue the story." The more you're hooked, the more you want to keep going, and the more you have to pay. The design is unfriendly to users, but it's exactly what funds the heavy paid acquisition below, and its chart rankings in several European countries keep climbing.

Where users come from: a company that runs ads

Little information turns up for the name Guru AI Lab, but Afizzy's Google ads are paid by a Singapore company, CHAMOMILE PTE. LTD. The same ad account also runs ads for Castbox podcasts and Guru's spot-the-difference, sudoku, and sorting mini-games, with tens of thousands of historical creatives and over 200 live right now. So behind Afizzy is a company that has been going global for years and has ready-made ad accounts and a creative team (the Castbox / Guru Game family; inferred, ownership not verified). Guru AI Lab's other Google Play apps, an intercom app, an AI photo editor, and an AI chatbot, total over 1,800 million installs, each built whenever some category heats up.

Its user-acquisition channels:

Google App Campaigns. Sep 24 start for the iOS version, targeting up to 47 countries; Sep 28 start for the Play version, 21 countries. One ad line: "Pick a character, set the mood and let an unexpected story begin."

Facebook / TikTok ads. The Facebook page "Afizzy - AI Chat Roleplay" has about 45k followers. A July iOS review: "I always try new AI apps that I see ads for on Facebook or TikTok." The Brazilian user quoted above was also pulled in by an ad.

Batches of female micro-creators. Searching afizzy on TikTok, from 9 to October, turns up a row of #ad videos with one slogan, "Continue your own story on Afizzy," and tags #AIboyfriend #ContinueYourStory #BookTok. The posters are female accounts with a few thousand to tens of thousands of followers: sandra__mason (65k followers), one video in October 12, "Okay… this got interesting FAST 👀", 49k views; cozywith_m (13k followers), one video in October 10, 61k views; the otome-game account otomegamezz (220k followers) got only 11k on its video. Each creator has their own redirect link, like afizzy-redirect.pages.dev/store/tiktok-20261022-xxxx, tracked per creator and per date, which points to paid placements settled on installs. None of the videos went viral; it works through sheer volume.

Invite codes. Inviting friends earns Fizz, so App Store review sections became places to post codes. A US 5-star review has a string of code as its title and reads: "Still testing, will be back. Here's my code, enter it for 50 Fizz!" There are more in the Turkey, France, and Russia stores. Rating counts and new users rise together.

The official account never took off. TikTok @afizzy.official has 53k followers. Its best video was an August Harry Potter meme with 130k views; after that it rode Jujutsu Kaisen and Halloween trends, with one or two thousand views per video. Organic traffic is not why it grew.

Two more details. The iOS version launched in Jul 15, but the earliest five-star reviews in the US store are dated Jul 14 (5 reviews), and they read in a tidy, similar way ("Finally found the perfect AI roleplay app", "Highly recommend Aizzy!"), which suggests they were prepared before launch (inferred). The creator credits on homepage characters use a "city + name" format like @hamburgAnika, @lyonPostcards, @madridEliX, @camiRioWave, which looks like the official team writing the characters and putting them under usernames (inferred).

Who it's competing with

The field is crowded. By Google Play installs (11-06):

ProductScaleHow Afizzy differs
Character.AI70.7MCategory pioneer, broad audience, strict review
Talkie(MiniMax)60.8MBig company, broad anime, gacha monetization
PolyBuzz57.9M, #33 Top Grossing in FranceThe most direct rival, dozens of times larger, also on European Top Grossing charts
Tipsy: Live Your Story4.88M, #10 Top Grossing in GermanyPositioning closest to Afizzy (story + romance), stronger monetization
WHIF1.6MWomen-focused + BL, mainly Southeast Asia
Amora830k, +168k in 7 daysLaunched same period as August, also buying ads, monetization not yet charted
Tizz / Cuddmi / Mira320k–520kA similar app that emerged 2026 years ago, competing with Afizzy on European Entertainment Top Grossing

In Italy's top 30 Entertainment Top Grossing, four similar apps show up: PolyBuzz, Afizzy, Cuddmi, Tizz. The "women-focused" angle isn't unique to Afizzy either; Tipsy and WHIF are doing it too. It outperforms contemporaries like Amora, Mira, and Tizz mainly on paid acquisition ability and aggressive monetization, not on product differences.

No media coverage, and almost nobody discusses it on X, so few people outside know it. But that doesn't help a follower: the category is already a red ocean, and everyone is using the same playbook.

If it were you

Verdict: Building an Afizzy clone isn't worth it. This is a paid-acquisition race against overseas companies with ready-made ad accounts and market leaders with tens of millions of installs. What you can learn is the playbook, not the category.

Who it suits: Teams that have already run overseas ads and can calculate a payback period, have an acquisition budget that can cover several months of losses, and have people who truly understand a specific women-focused niche (romance, otome, BL, a particular country's web-novel tropes) and can write a batch of good characters themselves.

Who it doesn't suit: Indie developers with one or two people and no acquisition budget. The category gets very little organic traffic; Afizzy's official account gets one or two thousand views per video. Trying to grow slowly through SEO and community won't keep up with big companies and factory-style operators. Large-model costs scale with messages, so the more users, the faster the burn, and without paid acquisition there are no users at all.

How to do it: If you must enter, don't build "yet another everything-chat character app." Pick a language and audience that neither Afizzy nor PolyBuzz has seriously done, such as women-focused storylines in Turkish, Polish, or Japanese (the Turkey store reviews already show people sharing Afizzy codes, so demand exists while localized characters are still missing, inferred). Write characters around local web-novel and TV-drama tropes, and pair each with video. For payment, copy Afizzy's model: give a small daily amount, charge per message, and sell coin packs on top of a subscription. Half the bad reviews complain about "paying for coins after subscribing," so you can avoid that criticism: a subscription with generous quotas, or being the "cheapest one," is a differentiator too.

How to acquire users: Copy its creator playbook: female accounts with a few thousand to tens of thousands of followers, one video and one redirect link per creator, settled on installs, with a unified slogan and tags. Add invite codes that grant coins. Test one country with a small budget, work out what each paying user costs, and only add spend if you can pay back within two to three months.

When to move: New similar apps appear on the European charts every month, and buying users gets more expensive the later you start. If you want to test, it's best to get a payback number in one country before the first quarter of 2027.

What would prove you wrong: ① Afizzy drops out of the overall top 150 in France, Germany, and Italy Top Grossing within three months, showing that even well-resourced companies can't make the numbers work at this price; ② a small team with no big-company backing breaks into the top 30 of local Entertainment Top Grossing in a niche-language women-focused character chat, showing the gap in small-language markets is real and the barrier is lower than described here; ③ PolyBuzz or Talkie launches a dedicated women-focused version or localized character library, which would close this angle.

Why Afizzy - AI Character Chat (com.affiny.ai.chat.character) took off

Channel: Google Play (there's also an iOS version, id6780423105, "Afizzy - AI Character Stories"). Research date 2026-11-06.

Bottom line

Afizzy is a "otome-style" AI character romance/story chat app for women: the leads are mostly men ("your boyfriend's father", "the debt collector", "the mafia boss who secretly likes you"), and each character comes with AI-generated video and portraits. It comes from a Chinese going-global app factory with a mature paid-acquisition setup: Google Play developer Guru AI Lab, iOS developer Sophos AI, and the Google ads are paid by CHAMOMILE PTE. LTD. That same account also runs ads for Castbox podcasts and Guru's puzzle games. It took off mainly because the company moved a proven playbook of paid acquisition, creators and invite codes into a category that already works (PolyBuzz, Talkie, Tipsy), and its focus on women's romance stories with character video kept paying users in Europe and Brazil. The differentiation is real but not a moat; distribution and resources are what decide how far it scales.

1. Data (from our database)

  • Installs: 1,330,512 (googleplay library app_profile, 2026-11-06). New installs over the 2026-10-29–11-05 period: 7 days totaling 113,805, about 16k a day. From launch (2026-08-06) to 10-29, 84 days, it reached 1.22M installs, averaging about 14.5k a day. The curve stays flat with no viral spikes, looking more like continuous paid acquisition than organic spread.
  • Ratings: 10,826,4.75 stars, steadily adding 170–220 a day.

Entertainment Top Grossing category: Brazil #24, Hungary #23, Argentina #25, with France, Italy and Austria all at #39.
  • In-app purchases: single items $0.99–$359.99. The per-message currency is called "Fizz", and on top of the subscription you have to buy Fizz separately.
  • Third-party revenue estimate: AppGazers estimates the Play version at $209K–$1.1M/month for 10-07 to 11-06 (80% range; a model estimate, not public data). appgazers.com/reports/developers/android-8628441344302043961

2. Who built it (resource background)

  • Play developer Guru AI Lab (developer_id 8628441344302043961) has 4 apps in the library since 2020 year, totaling 18.5M installs: Walkie Talkie (5.89M), AI Photo Enhancer - Evoke (5.78M), Deep Think - AI Seek Chatbot (5.46M), and Afizzy. A typical "ship another app in a hot category" tools/AI portfolio.
  • iOS developer Sophos AI also has Zensi (screen time), Gemind AI and others (https://apps.apple.com/sk/developer/sophos-ai/id1813098500). Website afizzy.sophosaitool.com, support email [email protected].
  • Google ads payer CHAMOMILE PTE. LTD (googleads library, advertiser AR09776994111583158273, matched by domain afizzy.com, confidence high): a Singapore company, registered 2020-03. Its contact email for the Play app is [email protected], and fungame.studio is GURU GAME's website. This ads account has historically run 3–40k creatives and is currently running over 200 (at the cap). Products promoted include the Castbox podcast app (fm.castbox…, published by Guru Network Limited), Guru Puzzle Game titles (spot-the-difference, sudoku, sorting games), Deep Think, and Afizzy. Conclusion: Afizzy is a product of the Guru (Castbox / Guru Game) going-global team, able to use the group's existing ad account, creative output and monetization know-how directly.
  • TikTok EU ads (tiktokads library): the iOS version's advertiser is FANGPU (CHENGDU) INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD, sponsor tag "KA Game-03", most likely an agency account. It ran only about 21 ads, on 2026-10-23 and 10-24, targeting 17 EU countries, each reaching 0–10k. This was a small test, not a main channel.

Conclusion: this category is already crowded, with dozens of similar apps and top players at tens of millions of installs. Afizzy wasn't first and isn't the biggest; it's one of the best monetizing newcomers in this 2026 wave.

4. Growth tactics (evidence)

  1. Google app ads (confirmed): CHAMOMILE PTE. LTD has 5 Afizzy video creatives: 2 for the Play version (earliest 2026-09-28, ran in 21 countries), 3 for the iOS version (earliest 2026-09-24, one of which ran in 47), with the copy "Pick a character, set the mood and let an unexpected story begin." (googleads library creative table). Google's transparency center shows only the creative count, not spend; this advertiser is running at the daily cap of 200 creatives.
  2. Meta ads (likely, not covered by our library): The Facebook Page "Afizzy - AI Chat Roleplay" has 44,716 followers (search snippet); an App Store review says: "I always try new AI apps that I see ads for on Facebook or TikTok" (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/6780423105?see-all=reviews). The metaads library doesn't track this Page, so active ad counts aren't available.
  3. TikTok / Instagram paid creators (confirmed): Searching "afizzy" on TikHub turns up a batch of videos from 9 through October tagged #ad #Afizzy #AIboyfriend #ContinueYourStory, posted by female creators with 1k to 100k followers, such as cozywith_m (61k views), sandra__mason (49k), angelsolya (26k), ka_thyson (18k), and otomegamezz (220k followers, 11k views). Each creator has their own tracking link, like afizzy-redirect.pages.dev/store/tiktok-20261022-xxxx, and Instagram has similar instagram-20260924-xxxx links. This is per-creator tracked CPA / UGC promotion. The official account afizzy.official has 53k followers; its earliest posts date to July. The top video is the "texting my crush" Draco Malfoy meme at 2026-08-11 with 130k views. Later posts mostly ride anime trends (JJK, Chainsaw Man, Halloween), with one or two thousand views each. Organic reach is small; no viral spread found.
  4. Invite-code referrals + review-section code swapping (confirmed): The App Store Turkey, France and Russia stores have many 5-star reviews whose body is an invite code ("PTXDN3 girinnn", "3 katı kazandırıyor (you get triple)", "Code fizz: MJQW4J"). The app has an "invite to earn Fizz" mechanic, and users post codes in store reviews, most visibly in Turkey. The mechanic pushes up both rating counts and new users.
  5. SEO / web version (exists, impact unclear): afizzy.com is a Next.js web version with Discover / Create / Fizz storefronts, plus landing pages like /features/ai-companion-roleplay, /features/create-ai-character and /guides, and an r/Afizzy subreddit. It's hard to tell how much traffic these bring.
  6. Not found: press coverage, X discussion (x-radar: 0 posts in the last 90 days), Product Hunt, HN. TrustMRR and the founders haven't shared revenue.

5. Why it took off

  • Timing: AI character chat payment habits in Europe and Brazil were already built by PolyBuzz, Tipsy and Talkie; four similar apps (PolyBuzz, Afizzy, Cuddmi, Tizz) sit in the top 30 of Italy's entertainment Top Grossing chart. The demand and payment habits already exist, so there's no need to educate the market.
  • Where users come from: mainly paid acquisition, Google UAC plus Meta (likely), supported by TikTok / IG creators and invite-code referrals. The flat install curve (about 15k a day) fits continuous paid acquisition.
  • Why people pay: each message costs Fizz (a user reported going from 15 Fizz to 60 Fizz in one go), and on top of the subscription you must buy extra currency; the more immersed you are and the more you want to keep the story going, the more you spend ("continue story get fizz"). Single items go up to $359.99, a design for heavy spenders. Negative reviews mostly complain about "expensive" and "still have to buy coins after subscribing", which shows how aggressive the monetization is.
  • Why it stays: its women-first, slow-burn romance premise (About page: "Designed with women's stories in mind"). Characters come with opening scenarios and AI videos / portraits, and chats can generate images and videos (the 1.9.0 update notes mention "more image generation models"). Users keep saying "it remembers story details" and "long, immersive replies".
  • Resources: Guru's existing ad accounts, creative team, and experience monetizing several apps let it get ROI positive within 2–3 months of launch and expand to 20+ countries.

6. Differentiation

  • vs. the general-audience Character.AI, PolyBuzz, Talkie, and Chai: Afizzy openly targets women with male leads and "forbidden / slow-burn" plots (homepage hits include "Your Boyfriend's Father" and "Damian Voss" with 1.5M messages). It takes the otome game / web-novel playbook into AI chat. Each character also has short-video assets, and chats can generate images and video, so it looks stronger than text-only rivals.
  • vs. Tipsy and WHIF, which also do story-driven chat: not much difference. The main gap is paid acquisition scale and which countries they cover.
  • Is that why it worked? Only half of it. The women-first positioning determines who its ads reach (creators are all women, tags like #AIboyfriend #BookTok #darkromance) and lifts conversion, since women-targeted story apps have long monetized well. But many products share that positioning. What makes it monetize better than same-period peers like Amora, Mira, and Tizz is mainly the group's paid acquisition capability and aggressive per-message pricing.

7. How many people have seen it

Almost nobody knows about it yet. No media coverage, no discussion on X, no public revenue. Only estimator sites like AppGazers list it as Guru AI Lab's top earner. But the category is already a red ocean, and a batch of new apps are running the same playbook (Amora, Mira, Tizz, Cuddmi, Fizzz).

8. Copycats

No clear evidence it's copying Afizzy. Fizzz (ai.fizzz.mobile) also leads with "character chat + AI video", but it launched earlier. Amora and Mira are same-period peers, not copycats.

9. Takeaways

  • Within a category already proven, it picks a high-willingness-to-pay niche (women's romance stories) and aims everything (creative, character design, creator selection) at that audience.
  • Per-message coin spending, plus subscriptions, plus large top-tier packs topping out at $359. It drives ARPU up first, which is what pays for paid acquisition.
  • Each creator gets a unique tracked short link (pages.dev redirect), so payouts can be settled on CPA.
  • Referral codes that grant coins spread organically: users post the codes in store reviews, so ratings and installs grow together.
  • Launch on iOS (07-15) first to prove it, then Play (08-06), spreading to 20+ countries.

10. Uncertain

  • How much went to Meta, AppLovin, Mintegral, and other channels is unverified. Meta's library doesn't track this Page; Google only shows 5 Afizzy creatives, with no spend.
  • The exact equity links between Guru AI Lab, Sophos AI, CHAMOMILE, and 方谱 (Chengdu) are unverified. For now it's inferred from the same Google ad account, fungame.studio email, and Castbox buys that they're one family.
  • The Play launch date 2026-08-06 may have been reset. The real earliest launch is iOS 07-15.
  • Revenue is only AppGazers' modeled estimate.
  • We have no Play review sample in our database; the iOS reviews are a recent sample.
