# AI astrology app with 1.5M weekly installs: anyone can build the product; the hard part is the ad-buying machine behind it

**What it is** A free, ad-supported Android app for daily horoscopes, tarot draws, and chatting with an AI astrologer. Its users are mainly in India.

**Why it took off** The app factory behind it concentrated Google ad buying through a Hong Kong company, pushing about 1.5M installs in one week in early October. AI fortune-telling was also taking off in India at the time, and ad buying there was cheap, so the ad revenue pays back.

**C** **How you could follow** Don't copy the Western zodiac plus tarot. Go after the localization it hasn't done (Indic-language Kundli, the Middle East, Indonesia), or build a subscription version with less ads and substantive answers, and test with a small budget on Google short-video ads before scaling.

Grade C: the playbook is clear and worth studying, but there are already over eighty AI fortune-telling apps in the same period, the local major player Reva is 3 times its size, and someone has already copied its package name. The product itself has no moat. It succeeded because of the full acquisition and monetization system that followers can't replicate quickly. Hardly anyone knows about it yet

Astro AI: Tarot & Horoscope is a free, ad-supported Android app for "daily horoscope + tarot + chatting with an AI astrologer." It launched in Sep 2 and reached 6M cumulative installs by Nov 2.64, with its main users in India. The product itself is no different from dozens of other AI fortune-telling apps at the time. It succeeded because of a network of Vietnamese-run utility apps behind it: several developer accounts, a Hong Kong ad-buying company, and a shared ad-monetization setup. If you want to follow, what you can learn is the playbook, not this product.

### A 6-second Hindi ad

In Oct 29, a YouTube channel called "Marketing LS" uploaded a video titled "AstroAI 1410 Hi 16x9 6s": made in Oct 14, in Hindi, horizontal, 6 seconds. The video has only 25 views, because it isn't meant for people to watch on YouTube. It's creative for Google's ad system. In the Google Ads Transparency Center, HYPERNOVA LIMITED, registered in Hong Kong, used it to promote Astro AI, targeting only India, running continuously from Oct 30 to Nov 5.

This HYPERNOVA account started running ads in March 2024 and has 920 creatives in total, with 220 running in the last 7 days, covering India, Europe, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and 50 more countries, promoting 27 apps in total. Astro AI is just one of them. The same account also promotes battery icons, wallpapers, prank calls, and the Vietnamese lunar calendar.

### The install curve climbs in tiers

According to AppstoreSpy estimates (only some days are measured), its installs grew like this:

| Timeline | Total installs |
|---|---|
| 09-10 | About 45k |
| 09-18 | About 480k |
| 09-29 | About 590k (nearly stalled in late September) |
| 10-01 | 680k |
| 10-04 | 1.42M |
| 10-09 | 2.19M |
| 11-06 | 2.64M (Google Play public install count) |

From Oct 2 to 9, installs rose about 1.5M in a week; afterward they dropped to roughly 10k per day (11-04 +9,571,11-06 +8,467). Organic growth doesn't produce this kind of step pattern. It looks like budgets being turned on and off. It currently ranks #26–38 in India's Lifestyle Top Free chart, #58–84 in the UAE, and over #100 in Malaysia, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia (Google Play category charts, 10-29 to 11-06).

### What it is, and what users say

The store page is blunt: read your horoscope every day, draw tarot to see "what the cards want to tell you," ask the AI astrologer about love, work, or life. The footer carries a disclaimer: for entertainment and self-reflection only. It uses the Western twelve signs plus tarot, with no Kundli / Vedic birth charts that Indian users often expect, and no human astrologers.

It's free to download, with no in-app purchases, and runs entirely on ads. The money works like this: a fortune-telling app's users come back daily to check horoscopes and draw cards, and an ad can be inserted each time. The cost of AI answers is offset by "watch an ad to unlock." Buying an install in India is cheap. As long as ad revenue exceeds acquisition cost, the loop keeps rolling. How much it actually earns is not visible from outside (unverified).

The rating is 4.8, from about 5,800 ratings. But the most-liked reviews on the store page are all complaining about ads:

- "Uninstalling before I even opened it. Ads so many that I can't even press 'next', can't open it. Thanks for the ads." (Siddartha Thirunagari, 10-16,18 people found this helpful)

- "Totally useless, all ads, I can't even run it." (M J, 09-07,21 people found this helpful)

- "Don't download, too many ads, and it doesn't answer questions. Want to know your future partner? This app won't do it." (Sunil Meena, 10-19)

The high ratings and the negative reviews don't match. The most likely explanation is that the in-app rating prompt is only shown to people who are willing to give high scores (inferred). There is one YouTube review from India, "Ai Astrology App… Real Or Fake" by Technical Akbar 07, posted in Sep 24, with about 4,900 views. Its reach is very small.

### Who's behind it

The developer listed on the store is "Ahc Foundation Inc." A nonprofit with the same name does exist in Kentucky, USA, but this account's contact email is a personal Gmail (christensentara587@), and its website is a free vercel subdomain that only shows an ad-authorization file. Meanwhile, the "About the developer" section on the store page names a organization called "A TRIBE FOR JAZZ" in Columbus, Ohio. The three identities don't match. This is a common "borrowed / bought organization account" practice in the utility-app world (inferred).

Under the same account there are also battery-icon, smiley-theme, cute-wallpaper, neon-keyboard, and baby-tracker apps. AppBrain says it has 17 apps in total, about 10M installs. Its ad-authorization file is identical, line for line, to the one from another account, LeafMotion Software: 4,915 lines and 89 AdMob publisher IDs. LeafMotion has a DIY wallpaper app (6.12M), an idol prank-call app (3.92M), and a Vietnamese lunar calendar (1.76M). Softonic even lists Astro AI as a LeafMotion product. The channel that uploaded the creative earlier is called "Marketing LS", and LS is very likely LeafMotion Software (inferred).

So this isn't a small team's work. It's an app factory: multiple accounts spread the risk of bans, one Hong Kong company runs ad buying, one set of payment accounts collects the money, and whichever app's numbers look good gets more budget. The Vietnamese lunar calendar is the main push, so the operating team is most likely in Vietnam (inferred).

### Who it's competing with

There are many, and most are bigger (Google Play public data, 11-06):

| Product | Launched | Scale | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Astrotalk | 2017 | 115M installs | Human astrologers charging per minute; #7 in India's Lifestyle chart |
| AstroSage Kundli | 2011 | 82M | A long-established Vedic brand that has added AI |
| Reva (Mohalla Tech, parent of ShareChat) | 2026-09-08 | 7.73M, 7 days +720k | Launched the same period, localized for India, its volume is 3× theirs, #2 on India's Lifestyle chart |
| Astro99 / Tarot99 | 2025-02 | 16.1M / 10.1M | Indian AI astrology app, +1.04M / +530k in 7 days |
| AI Palm Reading(Kienmaly) | 2026-10-12 | 2.89M, +1.57M in 7 days | Same kind of Vietnamese template shop, palm reading, charted in 28 countries |
| Palmistry - AI Palm Reader(HoangSi) | 2026-07 | 13.7M | Same template, two months earlier |
| Co–Star / The Pattern | 2019–2020 | 8.62M / 4.23M | Western subscription model, strong brand |

There's also a group of tarot apps that use numbered websites as their official sites, each with 1M–2M installs. Meanwhile ChatGPT and Gemini can already answer horoscope questions and draw tarot cards. Copycats have arrived too: its own LeafMotion followed with VedaSky, AI Tarot Reading & Horoscope, and AI Palm Reader, and another developer, HUNG THINH PHAT, shipped AI Astrology: Vedic Guide in Oct 23, with a package name that's just its package name plus .vedic.guide. In the second half of 2026, Play alone had more than eighty AI fortune-telling apps launching at the same time.

### If it were you

**The short verdict** : you can learn a playbook here, template app + paid acquisition + ad monetization, but copying this product doesn't pay. The category is crowded, and the winners are the big ad-buying machines and the companies with deep localization.

**Who it suits** : tool-app teams that already run Google App Campaigns, have their own ad monetization accounts, and can test a dozen short video creatives a month. Or people who understand a specific local divination tradition (Vedic, Turkish coffee reading, Chinese BaZi) and are willing to go deep on content and sell subscriptions.

**Who it doesn't suit** : indie devs who haven't run paid ads and hope to grow through ASO or organic social. This app gets almost no organic traffic. Nobody is talking about it on TikTok, X, or in the press.

**How to do it** : don't build "another Western zodiac + tarot app." Pick one of two paths. One: go after a localization gap, like India's regional languages (Tamil, Telugu, Bengali) with Kundli, or markets in the Middle East and Indonesia where demand for divination is high and local apps are scarce. Two: do what it does badly. Show fewer ads, make the AI answers actually substantive, and charge through subscriptions or pay-per-reading. The store reviews show you exactly what users are annoyed by.

**How to get users** : Google App Campaign with short video creatives in the local language, 6–15 seconds. Test CPI and day-1 retention on a small budget, and only add spend once the numbers work. Don't count on organic traffic.

**When to move** : before the end of 2026. AI fortune-telling is in its breakout phase now and ad buying is still cheap. Once big players like Reva push up ad prices in the Indian market, the ad monetization math stops working.

**Signs you're misreading it** : in testing, India's CPI runs above per-user ad revenue and 7-day retention drops into single digits; or Google Play starts mass-removing borrowed developer accounts and tightens rules on AI fortune-telling apps. If you see these, this path only works for factories.

Where users come from

- **Confirmed** **Google App Campaign paid acquisition (YouTube video, India)** : a video creative CR01958376761943130113 "AstroAI 1410 Hi 16x9 6s" traced by the ad library to HYPERNOVA LIMITED (Hong Kong), linked to this package, targeting only IN, running 10-30 to 11-05. The same advertiser also runs 27 apps for Ahc and LeafMotion (googleads library).

- Inferred **Concentrated paid push in early October** : AppstoreSpy estimates 10-02 to 10-09 added +1.5M installs in one week, with step-changes before and after. The creatives from that batch appear before our library began collecting (11-02), so we can't see them.

- Inferred **ASO keyword stuffing + India Lifestyle category chart** : the name and package name pack in four terms: AI / Astro / Tarot / Horoscope. Ranked 26–38 on India's Lifestyle free chart (googleplay library).

- **Verified** **India YouTube fact-check** : Technical Akbar's 07 "Ai Astrology App… Real Or Fake" has about 8K views

- Inferred **Prompted reviews / rating manipulation** : of 5,791 ratings, 1-star, 2-star and 0,3-star ratings are 4 stars = 413,0 text reviews (app_snap 11-06). The distribution is abnormal.

## Why Astro AI: Tarot & Horoscope (com.ai.astrology.horoscope) managed to take off

**In one sentence** : a distribution network of Vietnamese tool apps (multiple developer shell accounts, the Hong Kong advertiser HYPERNOVA LIMITED, and a shared AdMob monetization setup) built a template "AI astrology + tarot + daily horoscope" app, free with ads. It was pushed hard with Google paid acquisition in early October of 2026, targeting India, and monetized through ads. What made it take off was the **distribution playbook and timing** , not product differentiation.

### 1. Basic data

| items | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Launched | 2026-09-02 (Play launch date) | googleplay library `app` |
| Cumulative global installs | 2,639,240(11-06), 7 days +96,797 | googleplay library `app_profile` / data card |
| Rating | 4.79,5,791 ratings; **0 text reviews** ; rating distribution [1-star 0, 2-star 0, 3-star 413, 4-star 413, 5-star 4963] | googleplay library `app_snap` 2026-11-06 |
| Monetization | Free, **no in-app purchases** (offers_iap=False), ad-supported (ad_supported=True) | googleplay library `app_snap` |
| Charted | Only on the Lifestyle free category chart: #26–38 in India, 58–84 in the UAE, 122–168 in Malaysia, 125–171 in Singapore, 181–193 in Saudi Arabia (10-29 to 11-06) | Google Play library `chart_rank` |
| Version | 1.1.3 | `app_snap` |

**Install curve** (AppstoreSpy estimates; googleplay library `app_day_ext`, only some days are actual observations):

- 09-10 about 45k → 09-18 about 480k → 09-29 about 590k (nearly stalled in late September)

- 10-01 680k → 10-03 920k → **10-04 1.42M → 10-08 2.06M → 10-09 2.19M** (10-02 to 10-09 added about 1.5M in one week)

- 10-16 2.38M → 10-20 2.43M → 11-06 2.64M (afterward about 10k a day, our library 11-03 +25,414, 11-04 +9,571, 11-06 +8,467)

This is a classic budget-driven curve: a wave in mid-September, a stall in late September, then a surge in early October (1.5M in one week), dropping back to a maintenance level. Organic growth doesn't produce this kind of stepped shape.

### 2. Who's behind it: a Vietnamese tool-app distribution network

- **The developer "Ahc Foundation Inc" is a borrowed name** : the search result with the same name is a public charity in Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA (EIN 85-2396328) (charityez.org, instrumentl.com). But the Play developer contact email is `christensentara587@gmail.com`, and the website is `ahc-foundation-inc.vercel.app` (which redirects straight to app-ads.txt). It doesn't match a legitimate organization. This is a common tactic in the tool-app world: buying or borrowing organization accounts (googleplay library `app`; ownership not verified).

- **7 apps under the same account** (googleplay library): Astro AI (2.64M), Emoji Battery Icon (970k), Smiley Battery, Smiley Theme, Cute Wallpaper, Neon Keyboard, Baby Tracker. All are wallpaper / theme / battery / prank-style utilities, built the same way. AppBrain says this account has 17 apps on Play, active since 2025, with about 10M installs in total (appbrain.com/dev/Ahc+Foundation+Inc, search snippet).

- **Sister account LeafMotion Software** : the app-ads.txt at `leafmotion-software.vercel.app` is **identical line by line** to Ahc's (both are 4,915 lines, containing 89 Google AdMob publisher IDs and a set of Facebook IDs; I downloaded and diffed them 2026-11-06). Softonic even lists Astro AI as a "LeafMotion Software" product. LeafMotion's catalog includes DIY Wallpaper Maker (6.12M), Idol Prank Call (3.92M), and the Vietnamese lunar calendar app Lich Am - Lich Van Nien (1.76M, package names com.bravestars.*) (googleplay library).

- **Advertiser HYPERNOVA LIMITED (Hong Kong registration, verified)** : in the Google Ads Transparency Center, the apps it advertises include Ahc's Astro AI, Emoji Battery, and Smiley Battery, plus LeafMotion's DIY Wallpaper, Idol Prank Call, Lich Am, and Lich Van Nien (com.vmb.*), for 27 apps in total. This account has been advertising since 2024-03, with 920 creatives in total and 7 still running in the last 220 days, targeting India, Europe, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and 50 more countries (googleads library `advertiser` / `adv_app`, 11-05). However, it's promoting apps like the Vietnamese lunar calendar, so the operators are most likely a Vietnamese team, with the Hong Kong company handling ad billing (inference).

- Conclusion: Astro AI is one product from a tool-app factory built on "multiple developer shell accounts + one advertising entity + shared AdMob monetization." It is not the work of an independent team.

### 3. Where users come from

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Google App Campaign paid acquisition (YouTube / Play / display network), primarily targeting India | The Ads Transparency Center shows a video creative CR01958376761943130113 from HYPERNOVA LIMITED linked to com.ai.astrology.horoscope, with the YouTube video title "AstroAI 1410 Hi 16x9 6s" (10-14 made in 6-second Hindi landscape format). It targets only IN and ran 10-30 to 11-05 (googleads library `creative`). | Yes |
| The early October paid-acquisition push | 10-02 to 10-09 added +1.5M installs in one week, with step-changes before and after (AppstoreSpy estimate). This library only began collecting in 11-02, so we can't see the creatives from early October. | Inferred (strong evidence from the install curve; creatives not directly observed) |
| Store search / ASO | The name crams in AI, Astro, Tarot and Horoscope, so the package is com.ai.astrology.horoscope. India's Lifestyle chart at #26–#38 brings some organic exposure | Inferred |
| India YouTube review | "Technical Akbar 07" posted "Ai Astrology App… Real Or Fake" with about 8K views (search snippet). Small reach, more like a copycat piece from someone who found the app through search | Yes (small volume) |
| Meta ads | No landing pages for this package in the metaads library; app-ads.txt lists a Facebook Audience Network ID (for monetization, not paid acquisition) | Nothing found |
| TikTok / X / Reddit / press | A TikHub search for "Astro AI Tarot Horoscope app" returned no related videos; x-radar: 30 days, 0 posts; no media coverage | None |
| Prompted reviews / ratings | **1 stars and 2 stars in 5,791 ratings, all 0** , the 3-star and 4-star counts are exactly 413, and not one written review. Real apps don't look like this. Likely an in-app prompt that only sends high scorers to rate, or review inflation (unverified) | Suspicious |

**Where the money comes from** : no in-app purchases, ad-supported, and app-ads.txt authorizes 89 AdMob accounts plus ad networks like Facebook → interstitial / rewarded video / native ad revenue. Fortune-telling users come back daily to check horoscopes and draw tarot, so every visit has an ad slot. AI readings can be offset by "watch an ad to unlock". India's CPI is low, so as long as acquisition cost stays below ad revenue it can keep rolling. No ROI data (unverified).

### 4. Competitors

**India AI astrology (main battlefield)** (googleplay library, 11-06):

- Astrotalk: 115M installs, 2017 years old, real astrologers billed per minute, #7 on India's Lifestyle chart.

- AstroSage Kundli: 82M, 2011 years old, India's Vedic astrology leader, now with AI too.

- Reva - Personal AI Astrologer (Askk App / package in.mohalla.*, parent company Mohalla Tech, the owner of ShareChat): launched 2026-09-08, **7.73M, +720k in 7 days** , #2 on India's Lifestyle chart. Launched around the same time, and about 3× the size of Astro AI.

- Astro99 / Tarot99 (Primetrace): 16.1M / 10.1M, +1.04M / +530k in 7 days.

- Pandit Ji, AstroLokal, AskPandit, MyNaksh, NakshAI and others: 1M–16M each.

**Vietnam / tool-factory "AI tarot / palmistry / astrology" template apps** (a wave from 2026 through 6 to October):

- AI Palm Reading (Kienmaly Mobi, launched 10-12): 2.89M, **+1.57M in 7 days** , charted in 28 countries.

- Palmistry - AI Palm Reader (HoangSi, launched 07-08): 13.7M.

- Natal Chart: Astro Horoscope (DN Solutions, launched 05-13): 4.04M.

- Daily Tarot & Card Reading (SVVN-RU), Tarot Read & Daily Horoscope (ST Studio), Tarot Read & Horoscope Reveal (AGS-Stiftung) and others: this group uses numbered sites like `tarotcardall87x.netlify.app` as their official websites. It's another matrix, with each app at 1M–2M.

- Astrology: Palm Reader & Tarot (Kienmaly), Astraea (HOA BINH…), Horae (Nuclear Man): new in October, each gaining 80k–320k in 7 days.

**Established overseas players** : Co–Star (8.62M, subscription), The Pattern (4.23M), Kaave (40.9M, Turkey), Faladdin (25.9M), Kismet. All rely on subscriptions or in-app purchases, mainly targeting Europe, the US and Turkey.

**Big-platform features** : ChatGPT and Gemini can already answer zodiac questions and draw tarot, no separate app needed.

**How Astro AI differs from them** : compared with India's local apps, it has no Kundli / Vedic localization and no human astrologers, using Western zodiac and tarot instead. Compared with Co–Star-style apps, it's completely free and ad-funded. Compared with the same wave of Vietnamese template apps, the features are nearly identical (daily horoscope + tarot + AI chat). The real difference is **which ad accounts are behind it and which creative batches it runs** .

### 5. Copycats

Others are already copying it, including its own developer:

- LeafMotion Software (same network) then released VedaSky: AI Astrology (09-30), AI Tarot Reading & Horoscope (10-03, package com.ai.tarot.reader.horoscope, listed alongside Astro AI on AppBrain), and AI Palm Reader (10-22). Once one took off, they copied it under new packages.

- HUNG THINH PHAT released AI Astrology: Vedic Guide (10-23, package **com.ai.astrology.horoscope.vedic.guide** , simply appending a suffix to Astro AI's package name), with 70k installs.

- Since October, Faji and AppsCaps have also put out AI Astrology & Daily Horoscope (11-03) and many other near-identical apps (googleplay library).

### 6. Why it took off

1. **Pushed by a distribution network's paid acquisition machine** : Hong Kong advertiser HYPERNOVA LIMITED runs 27 apps from one account, including Astro AI creatives (Hindi 6-second videos, India-only targeting). The install curve is stepped; it grew about 1.5M in one week in early October.

2. **Category timing** : in the second half of 2026, "AI fortune-telling" became a breakout category on Play. Reva, AI Palm Reading and Astro99, apps launched in the same period, each gained hundreds of thousands to over a million in 7 days. Indian users have strong demand for astrology, CPI is low, and ad monetization pays back.

3. **Template + ad-monetization cost structure** : no in-app purchases, monetized through a shared pool of 89 AdMob accounts and Facebook. The marginal cost of each extra app is very low, so budget goes to whichever one keeps running (the same account operates battery and wallpaper apps the same way).

4. **ASO keyword stuffing** : the name and package claim AI / Astro / Tarot / Horoscope all at once, ranking around #30 on India's Lifestyle chart, and it also picks up some organic traffic.

5. **Strong ratings** : 4.79 stars with no low scores helps conversion, but the distribution is abnormal, with suspicion of prompted or inflated ratings (unverified).

### 7. Differentiation

The product itself shows no visible differentiation. Its features are the same as dozens of "AI tarot / zodiac" apps from the same period, and it's less localized for India than Reva or AstroSage. It works not because the product is different, but because (a) it belongs to a tool-app network that can run paid acquisition and monetization at scale, Vietnam-based by the look of it; and (b) it caught the AI fortune-telling wave in India as it took off. If there's a real "difference", it's that this network spreads risk across accounts, shares its monetization stack, and copies new packages as soon as data shows a winner.

### 8. Can you learn from it?

- The play: pick a daily-return entertainment need (zodiac / tarot / palm reading) in a high-demand, low-CPI market (India), wrap it in an AI chat shell, go free + ads, test creatives with Google App Campaigns, add budget to whatever keeps running, and build a matrix with new packages and new accounts.

- To differentiate: in India, go Vedic / Kundli and local languages like Hindi (that's what Reva and AstroSage do); in Europe and the US, go subscription (the Co–Star route).

- How visible it is: no public revenue, no media or X discussion, just one India YouTube review with ~8K views. Almost nobody outside the niche knows it. But the category on Play is already crowded (this search alone turned up 80+ same-period competitors), and someone has already copied its package name directly.

### 9. Uncertain

- The creatives from early October, how much was spent, and the ROI are not visible (the googleads library only started collecting in 11-02).

- What exactly HYPERNOVA LIMITED's relationship is to Ahc / LeafMotion (self-operated or contracted out), and whether the operating team is in Vietnam. These are inferences from the product mix and package names.

- Why the rating distribution is abnormal.

- How the "Ahc Foundation Inc" account was obtained (possibly borrowing the identity of a Kentucky charity, unverified).

- AppstoreSpy's install curve is only actually observed on some days, so single-day figures are unreliable.
