A Thai student who had just sat the university entrance exams built a free practice app for the next cohort: how AllTCAS spread through Thailand's exam-taker community

What it is A free practice app for Thai high school students preparing for the national university exams (TGAT/TPAT/A-Level), with animated solution walkthroughs and study-group features with classmates.

Why it took off It launched just as prep for the 70 cohort was heating up, before November registration. It spread through the exam-taker community via review-for-app giveaways, student influencers posting the same message, and education media telling the founder's story.

BHow you could follow it Don't just clone it in Thailand. Take the "local national exam × free practice app × animated solutions × study-group social" model to countries with hundreds of thousands of exam takers, such as Vietnam, Indonesia or Turkey. Publish content on the exam calendar half a year ahead, and earn money from online courses and mock exams.

Grade B: the model is clear and the budget is low, and in most other countries similar exams don't yet have a well-made free practice app. But the content needs local question writers, demand peaks only a few months a year, the app itself is hard to monetize, and in Thailand this cohort is already taken by it and TuaTueng, so the weaknesses are obvious. Roughly 420k Thai high schoolers sign up for the TGAT/TPAT national exams every year. In 2026 summer, a student who had sat the exams the year before and his team built AllTCAS, a fully free prep app with over ten thousand questions, animated solution walkthroughs and features for inviting classmates to practice together. Three months later it had 24k installs on Google Play, climbing from #31 to #13 on the Thailand Education Free chart, with 401 iOS ratings averaging 4.9 stars. It had no secret weapon. It relied on three things: the exam calendar, word of mouth among students, and a founder story that is easy to retell. None of these can be copied directly, but the approach can be taken to other countries.

A "national top" student

In 2025 Mar 12, a Thai Facebook coding influencer called "ลุงวิศวกร" (Uncle Engineer) posted that a kid he taught to code seven years earlier, "อะตอม" (Atom, real name วงพจน์ ดูการณ์), now builds an AI tutor that helps people practice exam questions. The post said he was the national #1 in TCAS68 round one (portfolio admission) and had gotten into 37 programs. Around the same time, a political figure chatted with him on the figure's own page, introducing him as "17 years old, inventor of the AI TCas app".

A year later he was co-founder and Co-CEO/CTO of ALL LEARN CORPORATION LIMITED, the company behind AllTCAS. Working backward from the timeline, he should now be a university freshman (inference). In 2026 Jul 10, AllTCAS's TikTok posted its first batch: "Comment 'Free' and we'll send you the app every #Dek70 needs for early beta access." Dek70 refers to the cohort entering university in 2027. The iOS version launched in Jul 29, and the Android version in Aug 27.

What it is

It's a practice app for Thai high schoolers preparing for TCAS, covering three exam types: TGAT (general aptitude), TPAT (specialized aptitude) and A-Level (subject exams). The official site says it covers all 21 TGAT question types, with over ten thousand questions each for TGAT1 and TGAT2.

Its most distinctive feature is the solutions. The homepage reads "เฉลยที่ขยับได้จริง": solutions that actually move. TGAT2 and TPAT3 contain many spatial questions, such as paper-box unfolding, 3D rotation and shape assembly, where a paper booklet can only print a single answer image. In the app, the pieces move and assemble themselves so you can see how the answer comes together. Other features: full A-Level mock exams with timers, question skipping and instant scoring on submission; vocabulary cards with IPA pronunciation, example sentences and mini-games; and on iPad you can work problems directly on the questions with an Apple Pencil.

Another set of features is about studying together: invite friends into a room to take the same test at the same time, form study groups (group chat, voice rooms, in-group rankings), and compare weekly study hours. Preparing for the exams in senior year is something the whole class goes through together, so once one person installs it, they tend to pull their desk partner in too.

In September it added only one or two hundred installs a day; from October on, five hundred to a thousand a day. It has only charted in one country, Thailand, on the Education Free chart, where it ranked #10-29, then #31,11-06, then #13.

The iOS version launched a month earlier. On the Thai store it has 401 ratings averaging 4.9 stars, with 37 more in the last 7 days, and it ranks #11–12 on the Education Free chart (App Store, 11-06). Many Thai high schoolers study on iPads, and the app specifically built Pencil support, so iOS is likely its main platform. Real users across both platforms should be clearly more than 24k (inference).

The numbers are still small. For comparison, Dek-D TCAS, a veteran education app with ten years behind it, has 719k installs on Play.

Why now: the exam calendar is the growth curve

The TCAS70 TGAT/TPAT registration runs from Nov 4 to 10 2026, with the exams in Jan 30 2027. Thai students start prepping mid-year, and the closer registration gets, the more anxious they are. AllTCAS launched beta in July and was on both platforms by August, just before demand heated up. During the November registration week its Thailand Education chart rank rose from #24 to #13.

That also means its growth has a seasonal ceiling: once the exams finish in Jan 30, this cohort's demand is gone. Whether it can catch the next Dek71 cohort is still unknown.

Where users come from

Review-for-app giveaways. The official Instagram @alltcas.official has 14k followers and 128 posts; the TikTok @alltcas.com has 11k followers. Early posts all followed one formula: "Comment 'Free' for beta access", "Comment 'App' and we'll DM you the link". This gets students to speak up and drives engagement. Individual official TikTok videos mostly got one to four thousand views, and the top one (10-24) got 15k.

Student influencers posting the same message. On TikTok, adelineuthairangsee (72k followers, 7-2.35M views), gutewmua (9-3.02M views, "did you little brothers and sisters download and try All TCAS") and pentoroiy (9-29 views, "the (not so) secret free app for Dek70"); on YouTube, Saintainable posted "Dek70 reviews ALLTCAS", which the official account reposted with credit. These posts share the same message and are clustered in time, which looks like an organized influencer campaign. Whether they were paid can't be told from the outside.

Education media interviews the founder. Eduzones is a long-running Thai education publication. In early October, its EZ TALK show ran an interview with Atom titled "Free app, but over 10,000 TGAT questions! How did AllTCAS start?" Another post covered how he "got into 37 projects through his high school portfolio, then went into edtech." The interview video got about 1,700 views on Facebook, which isn't much, but in the week after it went up (10-08 to 10-13), Play installs jumped about 4,600, the biggest single jump since launch (third-party estimate). The timing lines up, but causation can't be confirmed.

Landing pages built by exam type. alltcas.com has a separate page for each of TGAT's 21 question types, for TPAT3, and for every chapter of A-Level Biology, targeting search terms like "แนวข้อสอบ TGAT" (TGAT question types). The store links carry channel tracking parameters, which suggests they measure conversion by channel.

Reports say it ran dozens of Meta ads across several countries. We couldn't verify this.

Where the money comes from

The app itself barely charges anything. Every post shouts "ฟรี 100%" (100% free), and the official account even posted a reply to "How does AllTCAS make money? Will it stay free forever?" On Play it's listed with in-app purchases of $1.49–2.89 each.

The money mostly comes from outside the app. The website sells online courses, such as a "TGAT1 question-drilling course" of 30 hours priced at ฿990 (originally ฿1,500), taught by someone who scored 93.33 on TGAT1. It also sells books, mock exam registration, and a "support us" store. This is the classic cram-industry model: free tool to pull in students, then sell courses, books, and mock exams. Revenue isn't disclosed.

Cram brands like OpenDurian and OnDemandTikTok accounts with tens of thousands to 300k followersUses free short videos to sell paid online courses, with no free drilling app

The category has plenty of players but no strong competitor: the old app stopped at the news layer, the cram brands are busy selling courses, and of this year's batch of student-built products, AllTCAS is growing fastest. Its course sales, though, run straight into the cram brands' core business.

One open question: the company name ALL LEARN is very similar to LEARN Corporation (OnDemand's parent), a Thai listed tutoring group. We don't know whether the two are related. If they are, the app has big-company resources behind it.

If it were you

Verdict: B. Building a copy in Thailand doesn't pay: the spot for this cycle is already taken by it and TuaTueng, and you can't tell the story of "a top national scorer building it for juniors." What's worth taking is the model: find a national standardized exam taken yearly by hundreds of thousands, build a free drilling app around its local question types, make it more useful than paper workbooks with explanations and social features, let it spread through exam-taker communities, and earn from courses and mock exams.

Who it suits: someone who took a national exam within the last few years, knows the local language and question formats, and has a small team that can write questions and explanations. Examples: Vietnam's high school graduation exam (THPT), Indonesia's university entrance exam (UTBK), Turkey's university entrance exam (YKS), and the various admission tests in the Philippines and Malaysia.

Who it doesn't suit: teams that don't know the local language or can't find local question writers; anyone counting on in-app subscriptions (students and parents will pay for courses and mock exams, but rarely subscribe to a drilling app); and anyone who can't handle a peak season lasting only a few months a year.

How to build it: start with the part of the exam that paper can't explain well, such as spatial, geometry, mechanics, and circuit problems, and turn the explanations into animations. That's the app's clearest advantage over workbooks, and it's the easiest thing to film for short videos. Ship a large question bank from day one, at least a thousand questions. Keep the app free, and add features like "drill with classmates in the same room" and study-group leaderboards, so one person installing it brings in their classmates.

How to acquire users: start posting exam-type walkthroughs on TikTok and Instagram 6 months before the exam, collecting beta users with a "comment a keyword, get the app by DM" hook. Recruit student creators from the current exam year with a few thousand to tens of thousands of followers to post a uniform "free magic tool" message. Pitch your team's story to local education media. Build the website with one page per question type to capture search traffic.

When to start: work backward from the target country's exam calendar, and launch at least 3 months before registration closes. Vietnam's THPT is in June, and Indonesia's UTBK runs 4 to May, which means having a first version ready before early 2027.

Signs you've misread it: (1) After the Jan 30 exam in 2027, AllTCAS's daily new installs fall to a few dozen, and the next cohort still doesn't pick it up by mid-2027, which would mean this kind of app has to re-acquire users every year and its moat is thinner than it looks. (2) If it's confirmed that LEARN Corporation or a similar large tutoring group backs it, then part of its growth came from resources ordinary teams can't get, and the model will work less well in other countries.

Why AllTCAS (com.alllearn.alltcas) is taking off

A free drilling app for Thai high school students preparing for TCAS (the university admissions system: TGAT / TPAT / A-Level). Developer: ALL LEARN CORPORATION LIMITED. The co-founder and Co-CEO/CTO is a Thai high school student of about 17 named Atom (อะตอม วงพจน์ ดูการณ์). Launched on iOS 2026-07-29 and Android 2026-08-27. Research date 2026-11-06.

Bottom line

It isn't a paid-acquisition machine. It's a group of students who just finished TCAS who built a study app that is "fully free, with a large question bank, animated explanations, and drilling with classmates." It rides the seasonal curve: Dek70 (the cohort entering in 2027) starts studying mid-year, registers for TGAT/TPAT between November 4 and 10, and sits the exams in January 30. Growth comes from student creators posting on Instagram/TikTok (comment a keyword to get the app), a founder interview on education media Eduzones, and word of mouth among students. It's still small (24k Play installs, 401 iOS ratings) and ranks 11–13 in Thailand's free education chart. It's a local vertical product that is spreading within a small circle.

1. Data

Google Play (googleplay library)

  • Total installs 24,443 (2026-11-06), +4,129 in the last 7 days. It charts only in the Thai store. Its Thai free education chart rank went 31 (10-29) → 22 → 18 → 15 → 13 (11-06), trending upward.
  • Since launch (AppstoreSpy estimate, app_day_ext): 08-31 about 1,583 → 09-10 3,548 → 10-02 5,816 → 10-04 7,920 → 10-08 10,677 → 10-13 14,908 (about +2,900 in one day, the biggest jump of the whole run) → 10-27 20,313 → 11-06 24,443. In September daily gains were one or two hundred. From October they ran at five hundred to a thousand a day.
  • The Play rating is blank (the store shows no rating count). In-app purchase range $1.49–2.89 per item, version 1.0.5.

App Store (appstore library + iTunes lookup)

  • Thai store rating 395 (library, 11-06) / 401 (store page), average 4.9; +37 ratings in the last 7 days; ranked 11–12 on Thailand's free education chart.
  • Rating growth of 3–12 per day, steady. iOS launched a month before Android, and Thai high schoolers use iPads a lot (the app supports Apple Pencil for working out problems and PDF notes), so iOS is probably the main platform. Actual total users should be well above the 24k on Play (unverified).

Verdict: this niche has competitors but no strong rival. The veteran apps (Dek-D, TCASter) are news/old question banks with stalled growth; tutoring brands sell courses through videos; of the new wave this 2026 year (TuaTueng, A-Level Ready, etc.), AllTCAS is the one scaling fastest.

3. Growth tactics (evidence)

  1. Student-facing content + comment-keyword app launch (confirmed): Instagram @alltcas.official has about 14k followers and 128 posts; TikTok @alltcas.com has about 11k followers. Early post: "Comment "Free" and we'll send the app to #Dek70 to test first before Public" (TikTok 2026-07-10), "Now free for #dek70. Comment "App" and we'll send the app" (IG reel). Classic comment keyword → DM link play, plus engagement farming. Official TikTok videos mostly get 1–4 thousand views, peaking at 15k (10-24). (TikHub 2026-11-06; Jina search)
  2. Student/influencer posts (confirmed; whether paid is unverified): On TikTok, adelineuthairangsee (72k followers, 07-2.35M views), gutewmua (18k followers, 09-3.02M views, 'น้องๆ ได้ลองโหลด All tcas มาเล่นกันยัง'), and pentoroiy (6 thousand followers, 09-29, 'แอป(ไม่)ลับฟรีสำหรับ dek70'). On YouTube and IG, Saintainable posted 'Dek70 คอมเมนต์ "ALLTCAS"', and the official account 10-09 reposted it with a credit. The messaging is consistent and the timing is clustered, which looks like a coordinated KOL campaign.
  3. Education media interview with Eduzones (confirmed): Eduzones (a long-running Thai education media outlet) ran an interview with co-CEO อะตอม on its "EZ TALK" show (Facebook, around Oct 9, about 1.7K views); another post tells his story of getting into university via a high-school portfolio with 37 projects; the HandEduzones page also published a feature. Play installs went from 10-08 to 10-13 and jumped about 4,600 (AppstoreSpy estimate), timing lines up (correlation, causation not proven).
  4. Founder personal brand (confirmed): Facebook page "อะตอมAiTCAS", previously ran Atom AiTCAS; did a conversation with politician ธาดา เศวตศิลา, and programming creator "ลุงวิศวกร" (UncleEngineer) posted about "a 17-year-old student who built an AI TCAS app". "Students building free tools for students" is itself a shareable story.
  5. Website SEO + tracking links (confirmed): alltcas.com has landing pages for 21 TGAT question types, TPAT3, and A-Level Biology question types; store links carry utm parameters (Play referrer=utm_source=alltcas…) and App Store campaign tokens (pt=128039990&ct=alltcas-website-nav), suggesting they're measuring conversion by channel.
  6. Meta ads (unverified): at the time of recall, Peekly showed about 68 Meta ads running, across 5 countries; our metaads library doesn't track this Page, the Meta Ad Library page didn't render, and Peekly requires login, so we couldn't verify this run.
  7. Seasonal / platform events (confirmed): TCAS70 TGAT/TPAT2–5 registration runs 2026-11-04 to 11-10, exams 2027-01-30 (examprepthailand.com etc.). Exam-prep demand warms up month by month from mid-year, and the November registration week is the early part of the peak; AllTCAS's Thai chart rank climbed from 24 to 13 in the first week of November, overlapping the registration window. TCAS69 TGAT/TPAT registration alone is about 420k people (recalled data).
  8. 0 posts on X (x-radar, 90 days); no English tech media coverage.

4. Why users stay / will pay

  • Fully free is the main selling point: the website and every post shout "ฟรี 100%", and the official account even posted "How does AllTCAS make money? Will it stay free?" to address doubts. A Thai tutoring course often costs thousands of baht; free plus over ten thousand TGAT questions is direct value for students.
  • The product is more detailed than paper workbooks and older apps: animated explanations ("เฉลยที่ขยับได้จริง": box unfolding, 3D rotation, shape assembly, with parts moving through the spatial TGAT2/TPAT3 questions), full A-Level mock exams with timers, flashcards with IPA pronunciation, example sentences and mini-games, spaced repetition, iPad Apple Pencil scratch work, PDF notes, and weekly study-time reports.
  • Social retention: open a room with friends and do the same set at the same time, study groups (group chat + voice rooms + in-group rankings), and weekly study-time comparisons with friends. High school exam prep is already something classmates do together, and these features make one person's install pull in their classmates.
  • Where the money comes back: in-app purchases $1.49–2.89 each (Play), website course sales (e.g. a "TGAT1 drill course" for 30 hours at ฿990, original price ฿1,500, instructor scored TGAT1 93.33), plus books, mock exam registration, and a "support us" store. The classic model: free app for acquisition → sell courses/books/mock exams, the tutoring industry's standard playbook. Revenue not disclosed.

5. Differentiation

  • Compared with the veteran Dek-D and TCASter: they're news portals or old question banks. AllTCAS is a question-practice tool rebuilt for the 2026 admissions cycle, with new interaction, explanations, and social features.
  • Compared with tutoring brands: they sell courses through free videos; AllTCAS gives you a free tool you'll open every day first, with courses attached afterward.
  • Compared with new apps launched at the same time (TuaTueng etc.): TuaTueng leads with AI; AllTCAS leads with "explanations turned into animations" + "doing it with friends" + question volume, plus the founder's "a student building for students" identity.
  • Is this differentiation the reason it took off? Partly. Free + question volume + student identity is why it could spread on IG/TikTok/Eduzones (the content is easy to talk about); animated explanations and social features drive retention and 4.9 ratings. But the real push is timing (Dek70 exam-prep season + November registration) and local student-community content distribution.

6. Visibility and copycats

  • Visibility: it's spreading in small circles. It only shows up in Thai high-school students' IG/TikTok circles and in education media like Eduzones; 0 posts on X, no English coverage, revenue undisclosed.
  • Copycats: no clear sign of anyone copying it. Same-period peers include TuaTueng (RevisionSuccess, listed 07-26, 3 days before AllTCAS's iOS launch, parallel competition rather than copying), Roonpii (10-22) and A-Level Ready (07-22) and other small student projects.

7. What to borrow

  • "National unified exam × local question formats × free app": every country has a once-a-year exam with hundreds of thousands of candidates (Thailand TCAS, Vietnam THPT, Indonesia UTBK, Turkey YKS…). Big tech doesn't build local question formats, and the veteran apps stopped at the news layer, so the window stays open for a long time.
  • Turning problems that paper can't explain (spatial, shape, mechanical) into interactive explanations is the most obvious App advantage over paper workbooks, and it's the kind of thing that works well in short videos.
  • Comment-keyword app launch + student KOLs + founder interviews with education media: a very low budget.
  • Free tool for retention and word of mouth; monetization through courses, books and mock exams rather than a paywall inside the app.
  • Extremely seasonal: growth follows the exam calendar, so content and features need to be ready 3 months before registration/exams.

8. Uncertain

  • Meta ad spend (recalled as about 68 ads in 5 countries) is unverified; whether creator posts were paid is unconfirmed.
  • True iOS downloads are unknown (only 401 ratings); combined user count across both platforms is unknown.
  • ALL LEARN CORPORATION LIMITED has a similar name to LEARN Corporation, the Thai listed tutoring group (parent of OnDemand); whether they're related is unverified. If they are, there's a "resources" advantage.
  • Revenue not disclosed; how many courses and in-app purchases sold is unknown.
  • Demand will collapse after the exam ends (2027-01-30 later); whether it can catch Dek71 is unknown.
