Four weeks with only 103 installs, then thousands a day in week five: the ad-spend ledger behind an AR tracing app
What it is An AR tracing app on Android: you prop your phone over paper, and a semi-transparent image overlays the screen so you can trace the lines.
Why it took off It didn't take off on its own: it had almost no traction for four weeks, then started spending on ads in Aug 24. Behind it, the Vietnamese publisher Tevo took a $10M ad-spend loan, buying users specifically in cheap markets like Vietnam, Mexico, and Nigeria, and relying on ads to pay back.
CHow to copy it: don't go after AR tracing apps. Copy the method instead: pick a tool category where ads can monetize and the market isn't crowded yet, start with cheap installs in emerging markets on a small budget, and work out what one user costs versus the ad revenue they bring in. Scale only once it breaks even, then repeat the process category by category, one account each.
- Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-07-26 · 11-07 installs 164,417
Android · Total installs worldwide Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.
PrismArt is an Android AR tracing app: you prop your phone over paper, a semi-transparent image appears on screen, and you trace the lines. It hit 160k installs in just over three months and reached #25 on the Art & Design free chart in Vietnam. But it didn't grow organically. Behind it are a Vietnamese publishing company, a 10M-dollar user-acquisition loan, a set of developer accounts, and a category already crowded with 88 similar apps. Below is how it got going, where the money came from, and which parts you can actually use.
The day it took off, Aug 24
PrismArt launched on Google Play on Jul 2026, 26. For nearly four weeks almost nobody installed it: by Aug 21 total installs were only 103 (third-party estimates, same below).
Then on Aug 24 installs suddenly picked up, reaching over a thousand a day. From mid-September to October the daily average was 2,000–3,000; from late October to early November it was 4,000–7,000. As of Nov 6, Google Play showed 164,417 total installs, with 7 added in the last 37,660 days.
Organic growth doesn't look like this. Organic growth usually comes from a video that spreads, rises, then slowly fades. PrismArt went "zero, zero, zero, then suddenly open, then a steady daily climb." That's what someone starting to spend money on a given day looks like (inference, high confidence).
Around Sep 8, a Southeast Asian fundraising outlet reported that Vietnamese company Tevo had received a 10M-dollar non-dilutive user-acquisition loan from Singapore's PvX Partners, secured against 45 of its apps and nearly 200M installs (DealStreetAsia, ce-media.asia, and e27 citing it). PvX's model is to fund the user purchases up front, then take a share of the revenue those users generate.
PrismArt's developer website is falcon-mobile.tevo.app.
What it is
The store listing lists five features: AR camera projection (project the image onto paper, canvas, even wood), one-tap photo-to-line-art, hundreds of templates (anime, animals, portraits, architecture, lettering), time-lapse recording, and opacity and edge sharpness controls. The instructions are blunt: "Place your phone on something steady, a glass sheet or tripod, pick an image, aim it at your paper, pick up a pencil and trace."
The top apps in this category all have these five features. The description is stuffed with search terms like ar drawing, ar tracing, trace drawing, sketch app, anime drawing, learn to draw, and best drawing apps, and the package name is itself a keyword string: ar.draw.sketch.trace.paint.projector.
Money comes from two places: ads inside the app, and one-time in-app purchases at $1.99–$3.99. It doesn't appear on any top-grossing chart, so revenue is probably mostly ads (inference). Its ad accounts list three direct networks, Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network, and AppLovin, plus a long tail of resellers.
Who publishes it
Tevo's website describes itself as making "mobile and AI products people use every day, 200M+ users." Its partners page spells out the first type of deal clearly:
You build the app. Tevo runs user acquisition and monetization.
"You build the app. We handle acquisition and monetization."
PrismArt's developer account is named Falcons Mobile App, with a generic gmail contact. Following the "developer site sits under tevo.app" thread, at least 8 developer accounts like this show up on Google Play. Each uses a different gmail and runs one app in a category already proven to work: Live Earth Map (15.8M installs), ID Caller (11.8M), Natal Chart (4.04M), Dramini (short dramas), browsers, dating apps, and so on. The Falcons Mobile App account itself, besides PrismArt, also has a horoscope app called Zodiakos with 565k installs, gaining 100k in a week.
So PrismArt is one company's piece on the "AR tracing" square. From the outside, you can't tell whether Tevo built it or an outside developer handed it to Tevo to publish.
Where the money went
Only cheap countries. PrismArt has only charted on free Art & Design charts, all in emerging markets (Google Play charts, 11-06):
| Country | Art & Design free chart |
|---|---|
| Vietnam | #27 (10-29 #78 → 11-05 #25) |
| Mexico | #74 (ranged between 55 and 81 this week) |
| Nigeria | #93 |
| Thailand | #100 |
| Philippines / Turkey / Saudi Arabia / Malaysia | #114–148 |
| US / UK | Never charted |
In these countries an install is cheap and the chart bar is low: a few thousand installs a day can get you into the top 30 of Vietnam's category chart, and charting brings more organic search on top. As long as one user's ad revenue exceeds what you paid for them, the machine keeps running. Which channels, what each install cost, and whether it pays back are all invisible from outside.
It has almost no social presence. Searching "PrismArt" on TikTok and X turns up nothing (11-06), and no media has covered it. The store listing shows no rating and no visible reviews.
How crowded the category is
AR tracing has been a major traffic source in Google Play's Art & Design category since 2023. Google Play has 88 apps with AR draw, trace, or sketch in their name or package, with 420M cumulative installs combined and 5.94M new in the last 7 days (11-06). 2026 such apps launched after May 24. PrismArt's 37.7k per week is 0.6% of the category's weekly new installs.

| PrismArt | Falcons Mobile App(Tevo) | 2026-07 | 164k | 38k |
(Google Play install counts, 11-06.) ArtHub launched two months after PrismArt and already has over five times its installs. Newer launches through 9–October include Arteasy, Mintexecto's AR Draw, Glowtrace, Tracey, SketchSpark, and more. About ten AR tracing apps sit in the top 30 of Vietnam's Art & Design free chart.
The demand is real, and TikTok is what fuels it. Searching "ar drawing app" on TikTok, the top results look like this: an account called ar_drawing.anime posted "I can't draw anything until I met this ar drawing app" in May 14, 1.2M views; newbie_drawing1's "Trace and draw anything with AR Drawing app" has 510k views; an account named pictrace_ardrawing posted five or six "Free AR Drawing app" videos in a single day on Nov 4, one with 50k views (TikTok, 11-06). From the names, most of these look like the apps' own official or partner accounts (inference). There's also a #ardrawingweb hashtag for web-based tracing that needs no install, with individual videos from 150k to 2M views.
In short, the category's organic traffic lives on TikTok, and rival creators who post every day have taken it. PrismArt has none of it. Its traffic is bought.
Why it could take off
Three things, none of them in the product:
- Demand already exists: a category adding 6M new installs a week, so you don't have to educate users.
- Money to keep buying: behind it are the ad and monetization operations of 45 apps, plus a loan earmarked for user acquisition.
- Only cheap markets: in Vietnam, Mexico, and Nigeria, a few thousand installs a day can put you on a category chart.
Almost no differentiation. What sets it apart from the leaders isn't in the app, it's in the publishing operation behind it: the money, the account network, and the ad monetization.
If it were you
C. You can learn a playbook here, but don't copy this app. AR tracing already has 88 apps, with the leader at 60M installs, and new copycats keep launching every month. PrismArt's 0.6% share comes from loans and a full publishing operation you can't access alone.
Who it suits: small teams already buying Google Play installs who can work out cost per install and per-user ad revenue to two decimal places, or people who already run several ad-monetized apps and have data to bring to a user-acquisition loan negotiation.
Who it doesn't suit: anyone who hasn't bought traffic before and expects an app to take off through ASO and organic installs, or anyone hoping to break into this category by making a "more accurate, easier-to-use" tracing app. The features have long been built.
How to do it: what you can take is the method, not the category. First, pick the square: find a proven tool category where ads can monetize but the market isn't saturated yet (check how many apps are on the category chart, how big the leader is, and how many were added in the last three months), rather than squeezing into AR tracing. Second, pick the market: cold-start in countries like Vietnam, Mexico, or Nigeria, where installs are cheap and the chart bar is low, and use a very small budget to test whether one user's acquisition cost can be covered by ad revenue. Only add spend once it breaks even. Third, replicate: one account per square, and rerun what worked in a new category. Once you're at scale, user-acquisition loans like PvX's, secured against your existing app data, let you grow spend without selling equity.
How to get users: paid acquisition is the core. At minimum, run one of Google App Campaigns, AppLovin, or Meta well (I can't verify which PrismArt used). If you do want a visual tracing app, the TikTok official account is the cheapest supplement: a peer's "I couldn't draw until I found this app" clip can rack up millions of views, and PrismArt skipped that entirely.
Timing: this playbook has no fixed window. It works whenever a new tool category emerges. But for AR tracing specifically, the window has already passed.
What would prove this read wrong: (1) PrismArt keeps growing weekly installs without new money and pushes into the top 10 of Vietnam's category chart, which would mean the category is nowhere near saturated in emerging markets and late entrants still have room, so the grade should go up; (2) it starts charting in expensive markets like the US and UK, which would mean its monetization is stronger than it looks and in-app purchases sell well beyond ads; (3) conversely, if its daily installs suddenly drop to a few hundred after December, that would suggest the spend stopped because it no longer paid back, and the playbook has stopped working in this category.
Data and sources: Google Play install counts and the Art & Design category chart (10-29 to 11-06); daily installs since launch are third-party estimates; PrismArt store listing copy (11-06); falcon-mobile.tevo.app/app-ads.txt (11-06); the tevo.app homepage and /partners page; ce-media.asia 2026-09-09, e27 2026-09-08, and undiluted.com reporting on PvX and Tevo; public TikTok videos and view counts for searches on "ar drawing app" and "PrismArt" (11-06). That PrismArt's growth comes from paid acquisition is an inference drawn from the install curve, the publisher's public business, and the loan's stated use. The specific channels and costs are unverified.

PrismArt: AR Drawing & Trace (com.ar.draw.sketch.trace.paint.projector): why it shows up in the charts
Bottom line: it didn't break out on product merit. Tevo, a Vietnamese app publisher, runs a batch of developer sock puppet accounts, and PrismArt is one of them (published by Falcons Mobile App): an AR tracing app that's a reskin of an existing product. The category is already proven and very crowded. It gets installs because it spends on paid user acquisition in emerging markets, 1–4 thousand users a day, and recoups the money through ad monetization. Tevo's acquisition budget comes from a $10M user acquisition loan from PvX Partners. It doesn't rank in the category: its 7-day new installs are about 0.6% of the category total.
1. Basic data (googleplay library, 2026-11-06)
- Developer Falcons Mobile App, contact email [email protected]. The developer website is
https://falcon-mobile.tevo.app/app-ads.txt. First store release date 2026-07-26. - Cumulative global installs 164,417, +37,660 in the last 7 days (about +30%). Daily gains jump between 0 and 16k, because we only capture data on days it charts, so increases between two observations get lumped together.
- Install curve since launch (AppstoreSpy estimates, app_day_ext): in August it had only 103 installs by 21. Around August 24–26 it suddenly jumped to over a thousand a day. From mid-September to October it averaged 2–3 thousand a day. By late October into early November it reached 4–7 thousand a day. After launch there were nearly 4 weeks of almost no installs, then it was pulled up all at once and held steady. This looks more like paid acquisition than organic breakout.
- Charts: only the free Art & Design chart, and only in emerging markets. Vietnam went from #10-29 to #78 to #11-05 and #25, 11-06 #27; Mexico #55–81; Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey and Malaysia all between #90–190. The US, UK, Japan and Germany have barely charted; Germany and Japan only appeared sporadically at #145–199.
- Monetization:
ad_supported=True, has in-app purchases, priced $1.99–$3.99. Not on any top-grossing chart. The store doesn't show a rating or review count, and there are no review samples in our library. - Version 1.1.4, last updated 2026-10-20.
2. Competitors: a crowded category
Our library has 88 apps in Art & Design with AR draw / trace / sketch in the name or package name, totaling 420M installs, with 5.94M new in the last 7 days. 2026-05 of them launched after 24. PrismArt's 37.7k is only about 0.6% of the category's 7-day new installs. In Vietnam's free Art & Design top 30, a dozen or so are AR tracing apps.

(All of the above from the googleplay library app_profile, 2026-11-06.) Other platforms: iOS has Sketchar (sketchar.io), AR Drawing and others; on the web there are free tools like ar-drawing-projector.vercel.app, and TikTok's #ardrawingweb topic features web-based AR tracing; big tech companies have no ready-made equivalent. PrismArt's own selling points (AR projection, photo-to-line-art, template library, timelapse recording, opacity and edge adjustment) are all offered by the top apps.
3. Growth tactics
- Paid acquisition plus ad monetization (likely, indirect evidence):
- The developer domain
falcon-mobile.tevo.appbelongs to Tevo. Tevo's website tevo.app describes itself as a Vietnamese/Southeast Asian app company making "Everyday Mobile & AI Products for 200M+ Users", and it also publishes apps for others, in its own words: "You build the app. Tevo runs user acquisition and monetization" (tevo.app/partners). - 2026-09 Tevo received a $10M non-dilutive user acquisition loan from PvX Partners, secured against 45 apps and nearly 200M installs (ce-media.asia 2026-09-09, citing DealStreetAsia; e27, undiluted.com and dealroom also reported it). PvX's model is to front the acquisition spend for apps, then recover it from the revenue they generate.
- The direct ad accounts in app-ads.txt are Google AdMob (two pub IDs), Meta Audience Network and AppLovin, plus a long list of resellers. This indicates revenue comes mainly from ads.
- The install curve looks like paid acquisition: nearly zero for 4 weeks after launch, then volume ramped sharply and has grown steadily by a thousand or several thousand a day. The charting countries are all markets where installs are cheap: Vietnam, Mexico, Nigeria, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
- Our Meta, Google and TikTok (Europe) ad libraries show no sign of it or Tevo, but these libraries only track products on our list, so a miss doesn't mean it wasn't advertised. Which channel it bought through (Google App Campaigns / AppLovin / Meta) is unverified.
- The developer domain
- Sock puppet account network (confirmed): in the googleplay library, at least 8 developer accounts list developer websites under
*.tevo.app, each with a different gmail: DN Solutions (Live Earth Map 15.8M, TrustDial 3.88M, Natal Chart 4.04M, ZonaMatch), Invoker Apps (ID Caller 11.8M), Vitality AI (Vibra Live, Shield browser), Chrono Mobile (DestinyMap), Aegis Digital, Hand of Midas Lab (Dramini short drama), THK Global Limited, and Falcons Mobile App (PrismArt, plus Zodiakos astrology chart 565k, +100k in 7 days). One company opens many accounts and puts a reskinned app into each already-proven category. - Store search (ASO): the title and description are packed with keywords such as ar drawing, ar tracing, trace drawing, sketch app, anime drawing, learn to draw, best drawing apps. The package name is itself a string of keywords: ar.draw.sketch.trace.paint.projector.
- Content and creators: searches for PrismArt on TikTok (TikHub) and X (x-radar) returned nothing. The category itself has natural heat on TikTok, for example bekti3125's #ardrawingweb series, with single videos ranging from 150k to 2.13M views. But that attention hasn't landed on PrismArt.
4. Why it took off
- Demand is already there: AR tracing has been a traffic driver in Play's Art & Design category for 2023 years, with top titles reaching 60M installs. The category still adds nearly 6M new installs a week, mostly young people and kids who see tracing videos on TikTok and want to try it themselves.
- There's money to keep buying: Tevo has PvX's acquisition loan, plus acquisition and ad monetization experience built across 45 apps. As long as the cost to acquire a user in an emerging market is lower than the ad revenue that user generates, it can keep spending.
- Spend only in cheap markets: category chart thresholds in Vietnam, Mexico and Nigeria are low, so a few thousand installs a day can reach the top 30 to 100, and charting brings a bit of organic search traffic.
5. Differentiation
Essentially none. Features match the top apps (Braly's Artrace, AR Drawing, Sketchar), and the name is a common reskin naming style. If there's any difference, it isn't in the product; it's in the publishing machine behind it: the money, the sock puppet network, the ad monetization. So differentiation isn't why it worked. It worked because of publishing capability.
6. How visible it is
- The app itself is barely known: no press coverage, nothing on X or TikTok, and revenue isn't public.
- But the category is already packed. Braly and other Vietnamese teams have reached the 60M level, and throughout 2026 to October 9 a stream of new copycats kept launching (ArtHub, Mintexecto, Glowtrace, Tracey, SketchSpark...). PrismArt is one of those copycats.
- Tevo has been covered by Southeast Asian investment and funding media (for the PvX loan).
7. What to learn from it
- A playbook: pick a proven, ad-monetizable utility category, publish a reskinned app under a sock puppet account, spend steadily in emerging markets with a acquisition loan, and recoup through ad monetization. It doesn't depend on product innovation. It depends on knowing your user acquisition cost and how much revenue a user generates, and then replicating that repeatedly.
- Category chart thresholds in emerging markets are low: a few thousand installs a day can reach the top 30 in Vietnam's category, which can serve as a cold start for ASO.
- Non-dilutive acquisition loans like PvX's (secured against existing apps' data) let small publishers scale spend without giving up equity.
8. Still unclear
- Which channel they buy through, cost per install, and whether ad revenue covers that cost: no data.
- Retention and rating: the store doesn't show a rating, and the library has no reviews.
- How well the in-app purchases at $1.99–$3.99 actually sell: not on any top-grossing chart, so revenue is presumably mostly from ads.
- Whether PrismArt is made by Tevo itself or a third-party developer handed to Tevo for publishing: unverified. Also unverified: whether the Arteasy developer Midas Studio App and Tevo's Hand of Midas Lab are the same company.
