# A Bible quiz app's "reskin and relaunch": same template, second launch, installs up 40k in one week

**What it is** A free little app that asks a few Bible questions a day, earning from ads. Users are mostly older Christians in English-speaking countries.

**Why it took off** A sister app from the same developer had already worked, and this time they copied it with a new skin. They put it in the low-bar "Books & Reference" category, bought traffic with AI-generated Jesus videos, and used dense ads to get the ad spend back.

**B** **How you could follow** Don't head-on copy the English version. Switch language (Spanish/Portuguese for Latin America, Tagalog) or switch religion and build the same lightweight quiz app. Put it in a category with low chart barriers, test paid acquisition with small AI short-video budgets, and only add money after you've worked out install cost and ad revenue.

Grade B: the playbook is clear, few people know about it, and there's room if you switch language or religion. But the product has zero moat, three English versions are already competing, revenue and retention are invisible, and success depends entirely on buying traffic well. The aggressive ad tactics also carry delisting risk. Few people know about it yet

A small developer registered in Laguna, Philippines, launched a Bible quiz plus prayer app in September and reached 195k installs in two months. In October 9 it reused the same thing with a new name and icon, Daily Faith: Bible Quiz, and it started scaling at the end of October, going from 3,880 to 45,658 in a week. The product itself has nothing new. What's worth studying is the playbook: copy the template, pick the category, buy traffic, and recover the cost with ads. Below, I explain how it works, who uses it, and whether you can follow it.

### An "at my old age" review

In October 29, a user named Lori Tennessen left a five-star review of Daily Faith on Google Play:

> This Bible quiz helps refresh my memory of the Bible at my old age and it works real well!🥰

21 people marked it helpful, and it now sits at the top of the store page. Around that day the installs began climbing: October 29 was 3,880, October 31 15,100, November 3 41,543, November 6 45,658 (Google Play installs). For its first three weeks after launch it barely moved, and on October 22 it was still under 1,000.

Over the following week it stayed between #39 and #47 on the US Google Play "Books & Reference" free chart. By November 6, it was on this category chart in 9 countries: Singapore #37, US #45, Argentina #47, Mexico #50, South Africa #53, Canada #71, Philippines #100, Malaysia #107, Australia #147.

### What it is

When you open it, you get a daily Bible question: question banks on the Old Testament, New Testament, Jesus' teachings, Psalms, and Proverbs. You pick an answer, see whether you're right, and your progress is recorded. The store description positions it as "a few minutes a day to build a habit of faith learning," aimed at "new believers, Bible study groups, church members, and families." No in-app purchases, no subscription. The version has not been updated since October 1.0.1 12.

The money comes from ads. The store page doesn't say "contains ads," but its privacy policy names Google AdMob and Firebase. On November 1, a user wrote in a review: "just no ADS, please."

### This isn't its first time: a sister app already ran the same play

The same developer account, BIGBYTE APPLICATION HOSTING SERVICES, has only two apps on Play. The other, Bible: Quiz & Prayer, launched September 1 and adds a "daily prayer" page on top of Daily Faith:

| | Bible: Quiz & Prayer | Daily Faith: Bible Quiz |
|---|---|---|
| Launched | 2026-09-01 | 2026-10-09 |
| Installs (11-06) | 195,185 | 45,658 |
| 7 new in the last day | About 80k | About 42k |
| Rating | 1,028 ratings, 4.81 | 177 ratings, 4.85 |
| US Books & Reference free chart | #11–16 | #39–47 |

Source: Google Play, 11-06.

The sister app's curve climbed in steps. Third-party estimates: September 18 about 1,900, October 4 24k, October 27 115k, November 6 195k. Several single-day jumps of over 10,000 in between look like a rhythm of increasing spend (inference). Since it worked, they launched another. The two apps use the same privacy policy, the same support email, and package names with the same structure (bible.prayer.quiz.*). The inference is that it's the same codebase with a different name, icon, and screenshots.

### Where users come from: paid acquisition, with AI-made Jesus creatives

This team has no content on TikTok, X, or Reddit. In the last 30 days, a search on TikTok and X turned up no organic videos or influencer promotion for it, and there's no media coverage. Installs jump in steps while ratings rise steadily by 8 to 22 a day. That's what paid acquisition looks like (inference).

The sister app's reviews reveal what the creatives were. In September 16, a user named A. Jenkins left a one-star review, and 104 people marked it helpful:

> if you want people to download your app stop creating Deepfake AI ads that portray Jesus in a false way. Do better!

The developer replied on September 24: "We're sorry, we'll improve and try to avoid ad interruptions." Another user, Diane C, wrote in October 13: "You seem to make money from ads, I get it… but the ads come too often, and they interrupt the quiz… maybe don't use the picture of Jesus, he isn't white."

In short: **AI-generated Jesus videos were used as acquisition creatives, and the people they brought in saw dense interstitial ads inside the app.** Creative costs were close to zero, so they could keep testing without limit. From the outside I couldn't see whether the spend went to Meta, Google, or TikTok.

The country list is telling too. The US, Canada, Australia, and Singapore are high-CPM markets, while South Africa, the Philippines, Mexico, and Argentina are cheap-install markets. Buying both types together is a typical ad-arbitrage mix (inference).

### Who uses it, and why the ads pay off

In the reviews of both apps, the users are clear: English-speaking, older, devout. "at my old age," "Im 75 I want to pla…". The reviews are short, and "Amen" and "love it" are the most common. Of Daily Faith's 177 ratings, 166 are five stars (94%).

This audience is valuable to advertisers: older US users carry high ad rates and tolerate ads well, and the complaints are of the "I understand you need to make money, but could you go easier" kind. The sister app also drew complaints like "won't let me in unless I set it as my default home screen" (10-29) and "can't uninstall it" (10-26), which are forced attempts to inflate impressions. This tactic carries a high risk of violating Play policy. I haven't seen it in Daily Faith's reviews so far.

### Why the big players in Trivia didn't block it

Bible quiz is an old category, and the top apps are sizable:

| Product | Scale (Google Play, 11-06) | Difference |
|---|---|---|
| YouVersion Bible App | 305M installs | A full Bible reading platform |
| Bible Chat | 10.3M | AI chat, paid subscription |
| Bible Trivia - Word Quiz Game(Topy Games) | 9.06M | Gamified, in the Trivia Games category |
| Daily Bible Trivia(Super Lucky Games) | 6.31M | A long-running quiz app with in-app purchases, also on iOS |
| Bible Trivia - Bible Quiz Game(Aged Studio) | 2.47M | A heavily monetized quiz game, charting in 27 countries |

The key is the category. The big quiz players are almost all competing with each other in the "Trivia Games" category. BIGBYTE positioned the same thing as "daily devotion" and put it in "Books & Reference." In that category, a few thousand installs a day is enough to hold roughly #40 on the US free chart. Once it's charting, it gets some organic traffic from chart exposure and category search. The title and package name are stuffed with Bible, Quiz, Prayer, Faith, and Daily, so it shows up when you search "bible quiz."

### Others are already copying it

In October 15, a developer named KBeauty released Daily Quiz: Bible & Prayer. The name style, full-width colon, and category are the same. 11-06 it had 26k installs and "contains ads." Its registered entity is KBeautyUtah LLC in Utah, USA, not the same address as BIGBYTE (Philippines). It's more likely the same template passing through different hands than the same company's skin (inference). KBeauty also published My Daily Bible - KJV Version in August, which reached 247k installs and charted in 19 countries. Another app with the same name, Bible: Quiz & Prayer (package com.acornho.*), is still searchable on Play, scale unverified.

No one has made revenue public, and media, X, and Reddit aren't discussing it. Few people know this playbook yet, but the template is already in several accounts' hands.

### If it were you

**In short:** you could try it, but what you'd be following isn't a product. It's a distribution playbook: "template + pick the category + AI creative paid acquisition + ad-funded payback." If you don't know how to buy ads, don't touch it.

**Who it suits:** 1–2 people who have run Google UAC or Meta app install campaigns and can work out cost per install and ad revenue per user. People who can ship a lightweight app in a week. Ideally, people who know a religious audience or a non-English language well.

**Who it doesn't suit:** people who can only write code and rely on organic store traffic (these apps have no organic growth; stop spending and they stop). People who want to head-on compete with an English Bible quiz (BIGBYTE, KBeauty, and acornho are already crowded in the same category). People who want to earn from subscriptions (this audience pays with attention, not money).

**How to build it:** a lightweight app with a quiz, a daily verse, and prayer. Generate the question bank in bulk with a model, then have a human proofread it. AdMob interstitials plus rewarded video, with frequency kept restrained at first. Avoid things like "set as default home screen" or "can't uninstall," which get apps delisted. Pick one of these directions to switch to: Spanish/Portuguese Bible quizzes aimed at Latin America (Mexico and Argentina already show up on its charts, so the audience is there, and its store copy is English only); Tagalog for the Philippines; other religions (Quran, Hindu scriptures) for their respective audiences. List it under Books & Reference, and first check how many daily installs it takes to hold #30–50 in that category in your target country.

**How to acquire users:** vertical short videos, religious imagery with one question on top ("Do you know how long Moses lived?"). AI-generated, with lots of variations to test. Run one high-CPM country alongside one low-cost country. Mind the creative line: a one-star review of the sister app about the "Deepfake AI Jesus" creative was upvoted by 104 people, and this audience is very sensitive to whether imagery is offensive.

**When to move:** December is Christmas season: faith apps see more demand and ad prices rise. Push to get live by end of November, then start small-budget tests in early December.

**Signs you've misread it:** ① Daily Faith and its sister app drop out of the top 100 in US Books & Reference after December and installs stop growing: the paid push isn't paying off and has stopped. ② Any app in this space gets pulled from Play for ads or hijacking the home screen: the window for this monetization is closing. ③ Your version tests out with a per-install cost above what one user's ad revenue over 30 days can cover, and swapping in 20 creatives doesn't bring it down.

**Research notes: competitor table, acquisition evidence, full research report**

Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bible: Quiz & Prayer (same developer) | Android | 2026-09-01 | 195k installs, +7k in 80 days, US B&R #11–#16 | Same template with an added prayer tab. Daily Faith is a copy of it. |
| YouVersion Bible App | Android | Years ago | Play 305M installs | A full Bible platform. Daily Faith is quiz-only. |
| Bible Chat | Android | 2023-07 | Play 10.3M installs | AI chat with subscription monetization. Daily Faith runs on ads and has no AI. |
| Bible Trivia - Word Quiz Game(Topy Games) | Android | 2021-10 | 9.06M installs | Sits in the Trivia games category and is gamified. Daily Faith positions itself as a daily devotional and sits in B&R. |
| Daily Bible Trivia(Super Free / Super Lucky Games) | Android | 2022-07 | Play 6.31M; iOS 92k ratings | Long-established competitor on both platforms, with in-app purchases |
| Bible Trivia - Bible Quiz Game(Aged Studio) | Android | 2024-12 | Play 2.47M installs / 137k ratings; iOS 85k ratings | A heavily monetized quiz game, charted in 27 countries |
| Daily Quiz: Bible & Prayer (KBeauty) | Android | 2026-10-15 | 26k installs | A nearly identical copycat |

Where users come from

- Inferred **Paid acquisition (AI-generated Jesus video creatives)** : about 3 weeks after launch, daily installs jumped from a few hundred to 5–9 thousand a day in steps (app_day_ext). Reviews on the sister app include "stop creating Deepfake AI ads that portray Jesus". There's no organic content on TikTok or X. Charting countries mix high-eCPM and low-CPI markets. We couldn't find the specific channel in our ad libraries.

- **Confirmed** **Category placement + category chart exposure** : placed in Books & Reference, where a US chart rank around #40 and a few thousand installs a day is enough. The big players are in GAME_TRIVIA (googleplay chart_rank).

- **Confirmed** **Store search / ASO** : the title and package name stuff keywords like Bible, Quiz, Prayer, Faith, Daily.

- **Confirmed** **Portfolio reuse** : the same developer proved out the sister app first (launched 9-01). This one shares the package naming, privacy policy and AdMob setup. A suspected KBeauty alias from the same studio also shipped the same app.

- Inferred **Rating prompts** : 94% are 5-star, ratings climb very steadily each day, and the reviews are short.

## Why Daily Faith: Bible Quiz (com.bigbyte.bible.prayer.quiz.faith) is working

> Channel: Google Play | Developer: BIGBYTE APPLICATION HOSTING SERVICES (bigbytetool@gmail.com / bigbytetool.com) | Store launch 2026-10-09, version 1.0.1 (no updates after 10-12) | Research date 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

It isn't working because of the product itself. It's a small studio running a "template app portfolio". It copied a proven "Bible quiz + prayer" template (the same developer launched the sister app Bible: Quiz & Prayer in Sep 1, now at 195k installs), put it in **Books & Reference** , which has far weaker competition than Trivia games, bought traffic to pull in older English-speaking Christians, and monetized with AdMob ads. There's almost no differentiation. The real play is "reskin, re-launch, switch category, buy installs".

### 1. Data (our library, googleplay, 2026-10-29 to 11-06)

- Global cumulative installs: 10-29 → 3,880,11-06 → 45,658,7 days later up 41,778 (googleplay.app_snap). Play installs update in jumps every few days (10-31 +11,220,11-03 +26,443), averaging out to roughly 5–9K per day (AppstoreSpy estimate, app_day_ext: 10-30~11-03 per day, 5,610–8,814). The 3 weeks before launch were slow: only 10-22 969 installs, then 10-27 accelerated sharply after 3,879,10-29. It looks like paid ad scaling started, not organic growth.

- Ratings grew from 71 to 177, about +8–22 per day, very evenly. The star split is 4.85,1–5 stars [4,0,4,2,166], with 94% at 5 stars (googleplay.app_snap 11-06). The top-pinned reviews are from older users ("at my old age").

- Category chart (BOOKS_AND_REFERENCE free, 11-06): Singapore 37, US 45, Argentina 47, Mexico 50, South Africa 53, Canada 71, Philippines 100, Malaysia 107, Australia 147, 9 countries in total. In the US it has stayed between #39 and #47. In South Africa it fell from #10-30 to #13 → #53. In the Philippines it dropped from #40 to #100 (chart_rank).

- The store listing says there are no in-app purchases and ad_supported=False, but the privacy policy names Google AdMob and Firebase (sites.google.com/view/bigbytetool/privacy-policy). Store reviews include "just no ADS, please". So there are ads, just not flagged on the listing.

#### Sister app: Bible: Quiz & Prayer (com.mq.bible.prayer.quiz.devotion). This template has already been validated once.

- Launched 2026-09-01, 11-06 installs, +195,185,7 in 80,465 days, rating 1,028 (4.81). US B&R free chart #11–#16, South Africa #6–#17 (googleplay).

- AppstoreSpy curve (app_day_ext): 9-18 is 1,861,10-04, 24k, 10-27 is 115k, 11-06 is 195k. The curve climbs in steps (10-04 +10.6k, 10-08 +9.5k, 10-21 +14k), which usually matches a budget increase.

- The reviews show how it's being acquired and monetized (googleplay.review):
    - "stop creating Deepfake AI ads that portray Jesus in a false way" (9-16,1 star) → AI-generated Jesus video ads used as paid creatives.
    - "Ran for a minute... five ads...deleted!" "too many ads" "your ads keep popping up" → interstitial ads are very frequent.
    - "it won't let me enter the app until I let it become my app launcher" (10-29), "can't delete the app" (10-26) → it forces users to set it as the default home screen, a strong retention tactic that also drives up impressions.
    - "Im 75 I want to pla…" "at my old age" → the users are mainly older English-speaking Christians. This group tolerates ads and rates 5 stars, and US eCPM is high.

- Daily Faith's version number, package name (bible.prayer.quiz.*), privacy policy and developer email all match the sister app. It's the same codebase with a new name, icon and screenshots.

### 2. Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale (googleplay / appstore libraries, 11-06) | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| YouVersion Bible App(Life.Church) | Android/iOS | Early on | Play 305M installs | A full Bible reading platform with quiz as a small piece. Daily Faith is quiz-only. |
| Bible Chat(Book Vitals) | Android/iOS | 2023-07 | Play 10.3M; 7-day +380k | AI chat with subscription monetization. Daily Faith runs on ads. |
| Bible Trivia - Word Quiz Game(Topy Games) | Android | 2021-10 | 9.06M | In the GAME_TRIVIA category and built as a game (levels, word puzzles). Daily Faith sits in Books & Reference. |
| Daily Bible Trivia(Super Free / Super Lucky Games) | Android/iOS | 2022-07 | Play 6.31M; iOS 92k ratings | Long-established Bible quiz app with in-app purchases. Same niche. |
| Bible Trivia - Bible Quiz Game(Aged Studio) | Android/iOS | 2024-12 | Play 2.47M, 137k ratings; iOS 85k ratings | A heavily monetized quiz game, charted in 27 countries |
| Bible Trivia: Jesus Quiz Games(Bible Studios) | Android | 2021-10 | 3M | Gamified quiz |
| Bible: Quiz & Prayer (same developer) | Android | 2026-09-01 | 195k, +80k in 7 days | Sister app, same template, with an added prayer tab |
| Daily Quiz: Bible & Prayer (KBeauty) | Android | 2026-10-15 | 26k, +26k in 7 days | Copycat. Same name, package name and full-width colon style. The sites ktbeautytool.com and bigbytetool.com use the same naming pattern, so it's likely another alias of the same studio (unverified). |
| My Daily Bible - KJV Version(KBeauty) | Android | 2026-08-31 | 247k, 19 countries | A "Bible reading" app from the same alias portfolio |
| Bible: Quiz & Prayer (com.acornho.bible.prayer.quiz.kjv) | Android | Not verified | Unverified (seen in search results, not in our database) | Identical name, another alias |
| BibleScroll (Screen Detox), Bible Feed (Hapiga) | Android/iOS | 2026-09 | 34k / 65k | A new wave of short-video-style Bible apps driven by TikTok creators. Daily Faith has no content. |

Bottom line: this category is crowded, with long-established products at millions to over a hundred million installs. Daily Faith has nothing new functionally. It charts because **the bar in Books & Reference is low** : a US rank around #40 with a few thousand installs a day is enough. The big players doing the same thing sit in GAME_TRIVIA.

### 3. How users arrived

- **Paid acquisition (likely, creatives not directly seen)** : ① The install curve is stepped: about 3 weeks after launch it jumped from hundreds to thousands a day, while ratings grew very evenly. ② Searching TikTok (TikHub, "Daily Faith Bible Quiz" "bible quiz app", last 30 days) and X (x-radar, last 30 days) turns up no organic content or creator promotion for it. ③ The sister app's reviews explicitly mention "Deepfake AI ads", suggesting this operator runs AI Jesus video ads. ④ The 9 charting countries are English-speaking and Latin American, mixing high-eCPM markets (US, Canada, Australia, NZ) with low-CPI ones (South Africa, Philippines, Mexico, Argentina). That's a typical ad-arbitrage split. Our metaads / googleads / tiktokads libraries don't track this app (it isn't on the list; the TikTok ad library only shows Europe), so we haven't verified whether the spend is on Meta, Google UAC or TikTok.

- **Store search / ASO** : the title and package name stuff Bible, Quiz, Prayer, Faith, Daily, so it surfaces for "bible quiz". The store link Jina returned carries utm_term=bigbytetool, which suggests someone searched the developer name, but the volume is small.

- **Portfolio reuse** : after the first app proved out, the second one (launched 10-09) reused creatives and ad accounts. A suspected KBeauty alias from the same studio 10-15 also shipped another identical "Daily Quiz: Bible & Prayer".

- **Rating prompts (inferred)** : 94% are 5-star, ratings climb very evenly each day, and the reviews are short, mostly "Amen" and "love it". An in-app rating prompt is likely but unverified.

- No press coverage, celebrity endorsements, or Reddit/HN discussion found.

### 4. Why it can break out

1. **Template already validated** : the sister app Bible: Quiz & Prayer reached 195k installs and #11 in US B&R within two months. This is a reskin-and-relaunch, so the risk is low.

2. **Good category choice** : placed in Books & Reference instead of Trivia games, where a US chart rank around #40 and a few thousand installs a day is enough. It picks up part of its organic volume from chart exposure and category search.

3. **Cheap users who are valuable and tolerant** : older English-speaking Christians in the US, Canada and Australia carry high ad prices, don't mind ads, and rate 5 stars (reviews include "Im 75" and "at my old age"). CPI is low in South Africa and the Philippines, which pulls down chart position and average cost.

4. **Monetization is aggressive** : AdMob interstitials are dense, and the sister app even asks to be set as the default home screen and is hard to uninstall. One user can see a lot of ads, so the paid acquisition spend can come back.

5. **Cheap ad creatives** : AI-generated Jesus videos (the sister app's reviews prove it) cost almost nothing to make, so you can test endlessly.

### 5. Differentiation

Almost none. Features are a daily Bible quiz, quiz sets by book (Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, Proverbs), and progress tracking. That's essentially the same as Daily Bible Trivia and Aged Studio, and the content is thin with no updates since 1.0.1. If there's a real difference, it's that it's positioned as a daily devotional habit, not a game, and listed under Books & Reference. That positioning decides which category it competes in and helps it chart, but it's distribution and monetization that make it run, not the product.

### 6. How many people know about it

Not many people know about it yet. Revenue isn't public; media, X and Reddit don't discuss it; only auto-indexing sites like AppBrain, Appfigures, Similarweb and Softonic have pages for it. But the category is already crowded, with same-template copycats following it (KBeauty's Daily Quiz: Bible & Prayer, acornho's same-name app).

### 7. What others can borrow

- Once one template works, they immediately swap the name, icon and package name and push out 2–3 more, occupying several spots on the same category chart and sharing creatives and ad accounts.

- Pick the category: same features, list it in whichever category has the lowest chart bar (Books & Reference is easier to chart than Trivia).

- Religious and older audiences: high eCPM, tolerant of ads, high ratings, good for lightweight ad-monetized apps. Target English high-CPM countries alongside low-CPI countries.

- Use AI-generated religious videos as paid acquisition creatives: low cost (but risk of user reports and platform review).

- Note: asking to be set as the default home screen and making it hard to uninstall carries a high risk of violating Play policy. Don't copy this.

### 8. Still unclear

- We haven't verified which channels they use (Meta / Google UAC / TikTok), the cost per install, or ROI; our ad library doesn't track this company.

- No direct evidence on whether Daily Faith itself asks to be set as the default home screen like its sister app (it doesn't appear in the review sample).

- Whether BIGBYTE, KBeauty and acornho are the same team can only be inferred from naming patterns, the xxxtool.com domain and package name structure. On Aptoide, BIGBYTE also lists a Quran app, suggesting it's likely a studio running a multi-religion matrix, unverified.

- Retention and revenue are completely unknown; the store listing's ad_supported=False doesn't match the privacy policy's mention of AdMob.
