Pulled for 4 days, relisted under a new package name: BoloUp Go's 115k installs are old users moving over, not a new hit
What it is: a live-streaming and voice-room app with tipping, aimed at South Africa, Nigeria, the Philippines, and India, run through host agencies, with spin-wheel-style random games built in.
Why it took off: it's a replacement package for BoloUp Pro, which was delisted, and the same developer relisted it under a new package name, bringing back old users and agency hosts. The curve is steep at first and then flattens, and the grossing chart is far better than the free chart, which looks like existing users migrating.
DHow you could play it: don't copy it. If you do go near this, build the parts nobody has done well around it, like agency host-management and revenue-split reconciliation tools, or cross-platform earnings comparison content for people who want to become hosts.

BoloUp Go is a live-streaming and voice-room tipping app for South Africa, Nigeria, the Philippines, and India. It had 115k installs in its first 7 weeks and charted in the social grossing charts in South Africa and Nigeria. It is effectively a replacement for BoloUp Pro. BoloUp Pro had 2.3M installs, was pulled from Google Play in September, and 4 days later the same developer relisted under a new package name, and agencies pulled their hosts and big spenders back over. You can't copy this playbook. What you can learn is the agency distribution structure, though the whole category has been using it for a long time.
A review that compares the new package with the old one
On 2026 September 22, a week after BoloUp Go launched, a Google Play review got 58 "helpful" votes: "The name 'Boloup Pro' was much better than 'Boloup Go'. In this version, during the wheel and spindor games, the result appears even before the wheel finishes spinning." (The name "BoloUp Pro" was better. In the new version, in the wheel and spindor games, the result shows before the wheel stops spinning. Can you fix this?)
The person who wrote that review was not a new user. He knew the old name and had played the old version's wheel, which is why he noticed the new version's animation was wrong. The timeline lines up too: BoloUp Pro's last version on APKPure was released in Sep 11, AppBrain shows it as "removed from Google Play", and before removal it had 2.3M installs, 42,886 ratings, and 4.35 stars. On Sep 15, the same developer, FM1039 (FM1039 COMPANY LIMITED of Ho Chi Minh City, support email [email protected]), launched BoloUp Go. When com.boloup.pro was opened again on Nov 6, Play returned 404.
Agency posts on Facebook were more direct: "BoloUp Pro → Update to BoloUp Go". One Philippine agency video was titled "Orange Big Win Agency coming back… lahat bago na, BoloUp Pro is gone" (everything's new now, BoloUp Pro is gone).
What it is
The store listing reads much like its competitors: watch livestreams, enter voice rooms, chat privately with strangers, send virtual gifts, plus "interactive entertainment". That "interactive entertainment" refers to wheel and spindor-style random games. The store rating is marked "Includes Random Items", the South Africa rating is 18+, and in-app purchases run from $0.09 to $94.99 per item (Google Play, 11-06).
Two reviews represent two types of users. One positive review got 66 "helpful" votes: "this app is very helpful for disable people who can't go to outside work. this app helps people to earn money from their own home." One negative review got 32 "helpful" votes: "The games are outdated, and the 'big wins' are virtually non-existent… To earn or withdraw money, you first have to invest your own cash." The first type is hosts; the second is players spending money on games.
Where the volume comes from
| Date | Total installs | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 09-15 | 0 | Launched |
| 09-25 | About 16k | 10 days |
| 10-04 | About 56k | 20 days |
| 10-28 | About 97k | Then 1.5–3 thousand per day |
| 11-06 | 115,063 | Last 7 days +18,031 |
Before October, the numbers are third-party estimates; the 11-06 figure comes from Google Play. Growth was fastest in the first 3 weeks and then leveled off. Apps bought through paid acquisition usually have the opposite curve: slow at first, steep once spending starts. A curve like BoloUp Go's, steep from the start and then flat, fits existing users moving over.
The charts tell the same story. In Nov 6, it ranked 37 on South Africa's social grossing chart and 39 in Nigeria, but on the free chart it hovered around 100 in the Philippines and Nigeria. A grossing rank far better than the download rank means payments are concentrated in a few people: the "big spenders" of live-tipping culture, plus heavy players of the wheel games. These people were already in the old package, and the hosts they supported called them back.
Agencies are what pulled users in. Under BoloUp's agent policy, agencies take 4–20% of their hosts' earnings, and new agency heads get an extra 15% gift bonus for their first 30 days. The gift-bonus tiers are calculated from amounts in "Game Betting and Lucky Gifts". Agents can also work as "Coin Sellers", selling coins directly to users (boloupapp.com, a third-party recruitment site, carries a subheading copied verbatim as "Why Become a Poppo Agent?", since sites like this use the same template). When the old package was pulled, agency income stopped, so agencies moved fastest to tell their people once the new package went up. Soon after Go launched, someone built boloupgo.live, whose homepage reads "BoloUp Go Official Host Program" and offers a one-click copyable Agency ID 2527626.
The official voice is quiet. The TikTok account @boloup_global has 4,986 followers and 148 videos, mostly about how to become a host, with a top single video of about 110k views (11-06). On X, nobody has mentioned it in nearly 90 days. I couldn't find any Meta or Google ad spend, and I can't rule it out.
Where the money comes from, and how much
The money comes from gift tips and random games. Revenue is invisible from outside; only the chart position shows. On Nigeria's social Top Grossing chart, it ranked #28 in Oct 29, then fell to #39,9 in Nov 6, dropping 11 spots in one day. By installs, 115k is still under 5% of the old app's 2.3M. The people moving over are most likely the highest-value few, and this migration windfall may be running out too (inference).
Who it's competing with
This category is crowded. In Nov 6, nearly all of Nigeria's and South Africa's top 40 social Top Grossing apps were direct competitors (Google Play):
| Product | Launched | Installs | vs. BoloUp Go |
|---|---|---|---|
| Poppo Live | 2022 | 47.9M | #3 on South Africa's social Top Grossing, with hosts' earnings as the main pitch. YouTube has "Poppo vs BoloUp: which pays more" comparison videos. |
| Chamet / Bigo Live / Tango | 2010–2019 | 78.4M / 848M / 387M | Established big names |
| SOYO / BIBO | 2022 / 2025 | 15.6M / 7.63M | Mainly voice rooms |
| Minemo | 2026-09-11 | 590k | Launched the same week as BoloUp Go and already #11 on South Africa's social Top Grossing |
| Toki / Poca / Mici | 2025 | 10.2M / 7.07M / 2.09M | New app released last year, with bigger install numbers |
The product has no real differences. The feature copy could sit on Poppo's or Chamet's store page and still work. What it does have is a ready-made agency network and a base of paying old users, and nobody else can copy either.
If it were you
Verdict: Don't follow. BoloUp Go took off because of its old app, old agencies and old big spenders, which no new entrant can replicate. The category is packed with older players who have tens of millions of installs, monetization relies on gambling-style wheel games, and Google Play could pull it again at any time.
Who it fits: Only teams already running live social apps in emerging markets that have agencies and hosts. For them, this case is a takedown contingency plan: keep a backup app under the same developer account in advance, keep an agency notification channel running, switch apps within days of a removal, and bring the big paying users back first.
Who it doesn't fit: Solo indie devs and small teams. The business requires host recruiting, withdrawal settlement, review, anti-fraud, plus payments and compliance. Without agencies or big spenders at launch, you're launching into an empty room.
If you still want in, how: Don't build the app itself. Build the pieces around it that nobody does well, such as host management and commission reconciliation tools for agencies (one agency often operates across several platforms, so cross-platform settlement is an obvious need, inference, not verified whether anyone has built it), or content sites that help hosts compare platform earnings and learn how to go live. Existing recruiting sites already live off this traffic.
How to get users: Audiences of "earn money from home" and "how to become a BoloUp / Poppo agent" content on YouTube and Facebook, plus the agency leaders themselves.
When to move: No rush. New apps launch in this category every month, so the window stays open, and it stays crowded.
What would mean I got it wrong: ① BoloUp Go reaches over 500k installs within two months and returns to the top 20 on Nigeria's Top Grossing, showing the product itself is acquiring new users, not just migration; ② paid acquisition at scale on Meta or Google that's traceable, showing the market can grow with spend; ③ Google Play leaves it alone for two months while similar backup apps multiply, showing takedown risk is lower than it looks.

Why BoloUp Go (com.boloup.go) took off
In short: it is not a new product. It is a replacement of BoloUp Pro (com.boloup.pro, 2.3M installs, 43k ratings), which Google Play removed in September 2026, relaunched under a new package name. The first 7 weeks' 115k installs and the South Africa / Nigeria social Top Grossing rankings came mainly from old users and agency hosts moving over, not new acquisition.
1. Basic data (googleplay library, 2026-11-06)
- Developer FM1039 (FM1039 COMPANY LIMITED, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; support email [email protected]). Store launch 2026-09-15,17+, in-app purchases $0.09–$94.99 per item, rated "In-App Purchases (Includes Random Items)".
- Cumulative global installs 115,063, +18,031 in the last 7 days; rating 3,406, daily change 40–60. Store-page rating 4.2 (US store), shown as 4.7 in the South Africa / Philippines stores.
- Installs since launch (AppstoreSpy estimate, googleplay.app_day_ext): 09-25 at 16k → 10-04 at 56k → 10-28 at 97k → 11-05 at 115k. The first 3 weeks were the steepest (10 days 16k, 20 days 56k), then it settled at about 1.5–3k per day. A curve that starts fast and then flattens fits existing users migrating, not paid acquisition.
- Current chart positions (googleplay.chart_rank): South Africa social Top Grossing 33–37; Nigeria social Top Grossing 28→39 (10-29 to 11-06, falling); Philippines social Top Grossing 89→111; Indonesia 104–124; UAE / India / Saudi Arabia 130–200; the free charts only reach about #100 in Philippines and Nigeria social. Top Grossing ranks are far higher than download ranks, meaning payments are concentrated in a small group of heavy users (tips, wheel games).
2. Key finding: this is a backup of BoloUp Pro
- AppBrain: BoloUp Pro (com.boloup.pro, same developer FM1039) "removed from Google Play", listed for 22 months, 2.3M installs before delisting, 4.35 stars / 42,886 ratings, last updated 2026-09-09 (AppBrain). APKPure's last Pro version: 3.1.0, dated 2026-09-11 (APKPure). Today on play.google.com, com.boloup.pro returns 404 (checked 2026-11-06).
- 4 days later (09-15), BoloUp Go launched. User reviews treat the two as one: "The name 'Boloup Pro' was much better than 'Boloup Go'. In this version, during the wheel and spindor games…" (2026-09-22,58 people found it helpful, Play store page).
- Migration notices to agencies: a Facebook post reads "BoloUp Pro → Update to BoloUp Go… the new BoloUp app is now available in both Google Play Store and Apple App Store", and a Philippine agency video title reads "Orange Big Win Agency coming back… lahat bago na, BoloUp Pro is gone" (Jina search snippets, full text not retrieved). An AI summary on an Instagram topic page also says "BoloUp Pro… is listed on Google Play as 'BoloUp Go' by FM1039".
- Reason for removal not verified. Pro's negative reviews before removal focused on "removed from earning eligibility after topping up" and "account frozen" (AppBrain reviews, 2026-09). Go's top negative review says "games are outdated, 'big wins' are virtually non-existent… to earn or withdraw money you first have to invest your own cash", and a positive one says "helps people to earn money from their own home". Random-outcome games plus a "earn and withdraw money" pitch are a likely reason Play pulls social live apps (speculation).
- The iOS app BoloUp-Live&Chat (id6717590134, developer JIULI TECHNOLOGY CO., LIMITED, listed 2024-11) is still up with few ratings (US store 992; per the appstore library, Nigeria store 2,427, Nepal 1,248, and it ranks #7 on Nepal's social Top Grossing). BoloUp's main market has always been Android.
3. Why it took off
- Old users + agency migration (main cause): Pro had a base of 2.3M installs. Hosts earned money through it, and agencies took a cut (official agency policy: 4–20% of host earnings, boloupapp.com, Scribd). After the app was removed, agencies had strong reason to bring hosts and their "big spenders" (paying users) to the new app. Paying users were brought back by hosts, which is why Top Grossing ranks jumped well above free ranks right away.
- "Earn money from home" host recruiting network: BoloUp's growth has long come from host and agency recruiting content: YouTube videos like "How to become an agent on BoloUp", "Earn $1000+ on Boloup Pro", "How to gamble and win big on BoloUp"; Reddit / Facebook / Instagram invite posts with Agency IDs (such as Agency ID 1651503, 2527626); and third-party recruiting sites boloupagency.in, boloupagent.com, boloupapp.com, boloupgo.live (someone set up boloupgo.live to recruit hosts right after BoloUp Go launched). The official X account @i_BoloUp claims "12,922,800 Paid Out Last Week" (unit not stated, Jina search snippet).
- Good market choice: South Africa, Nigeria, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Nepal. These are low-income markets with a large supply of women hosts looking to "earn dollars from home", plus a small group of paying users willing to tip. The BoloUp official Facebook page celebrates its weekly top hosts, and they are named individuals from India and Nepal (Facebook).
- Gambling-style monetization: wheels, "spindor"-style random games, and "big win" mechanics are the paying core (reviews, YouTube "How to gamble & win big on BoloUp"). The store rating explicitly says "Includes Random Items". The $94.99 single in-app purchases also point to a heavy-spend structure.
4. Evidence of growth tactics
| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Old-app users migrated (swap the package after takedown) | AppBrain: Pro 2026-09 delisted, 2.3M installs; Go 09-15 listed, 10 days, 16k installs; reviews directly compare Pro and Go; Facebook guild post "BoloUp Pro is gone" | Yes |
| Guild / host distribution (MLM-style recruiting) | Multiple third-party recruiting sites, YouTube tutorials and "how to earn" guides, Reddit / Instagram invite links with Agency IDs (link.iboloup.com, boloup.onelink.me) | Yes |
| Official TikTok | @boloup_global has 4,986 followers and 148 videos, mostly "become a host" tutorials, with a top single video around 110k views (TikHub, 2026-11-06). Small footprint. | Yes (small footprint) |
| Meta ads | No BoloUp advertisers show up in the metaads library (the library only tracks a fixed list of products, so not finding it doesn't mean they aren't running ads) | Not verified |
| X | x-radar: 90 posts in the last 0 days | None |
| Store search | Users are told to "search BoloUp Go on Play"; brand-name search picks up migrating traffic | guessing |
5. Competitors
This niche (1v1 video / voice rooms / live gifting + guild hosts, in emerging going-global markets) is very crowded. In Nigeria and South Africa, the top 40 social grossing apps are almost all of this type (googleplay library 2026-11-06):
- Poppo Live (47.9M installs, 2022 listed, #3 social grossing in South Africa / #11 in Nigeria): the strongest host-earnings pitch in the category, with a YouTube comparison video "Poppo vs BoloUp which pays more".
- Chamet (78.4M, 2019), Tango (387M, 2010), Bigo Live (848M, 2016), BuzzCast (36.9M, 2018), SuperLive (47.5M, 2020), Taka (10.6M, 2023): the established big players.
- Voice rooms: SOYO / BIBO / Oya (Haflla HK), Hala, MeYo, Gemgala.
- Newer look-alikes from 2025–2026: Minemo (listed 2026-09-11, 590k installs, #11 social grossing in South Africa), MeetJoy (2026-8.66M), Mici (2025-102M), Toki (2025-1.11B), Poca (2025-97.1M).
Next to these, BoloUp Go is an order of magnitude smaller (115k). It has no product-level differentiation: its feature descriptions are basically the same as Poppo's or Chamet's. Its only "difference" is that it relaunches with an already-formed host agency network and paying user pool.
6. How visible it is
- No public revenue, no press coverage, 0 discussion on X. It's known within the niche (host agencies, YouTube / Facebook "earn from home" creators).
- It's itself a "reskin and relaunch" player, and new clones of this kind show up every month in the category, so copying it makes no sense. The notable thing is the "delist → swap package → bring guild back" playbook.
7. Verdict
BoloUp Go works as a resource + distribution play, not a product. It inherits BoloUp Pro's 2.3M installed base, its host-agency network and its big-spending payers, relaunches under a new package 4 days after the takedown, and uses guilds to pull people back. Grossing ranking above free ranking, a front-loaded curve that flattens, and reviews directly comparing it to Pro all point the same way. Nigeria's grossing rank fell from 9 to 28 over the past 39 days, so the migration bump may be fading. The new app has recovered to 115k installs, but is still far from Pro's 2.3M. Migration has brought back only part of the users.
8. Takeaways
- Host agency (guild) distribution is the cheapest and most takedown-resistant acquisition and retention structure for live social apps in emerging markets. The agency commission means third parties recruit hosts, build landing sites and make YouTube tutorials for you, so the network survives even after the app is removed.
- Takedown contingency: quickly publish a replacement package from the same developer account and broadcast the new package name through guilds and communities, which can recover paying users within weeks. But Play carries account-ban risk for replacement packages that "evade" takedowns.
9. Uncertain
- The specific reason Pro was delisted (policy violation? developer pulled it?) is unverified.
- Whether it runs paid acquisition (Meta / Google / TikTok ads) is unverified; our ad library doesn't show it.
- Revenue scale: we only have chart positions (social #37 in South Africa, #39 in Nigeria), no amounts.
- Relationship to the iOS developer JIULI TECHNOLOGY (same team under a different entity?) is unverified.
