Clean Now: Storage Cleaner · iKame - Begamob Application AI

# One company, two storefronts: Vietnam's iKame re-skins its hit cleaner app and ships it again, 1.5M installs in four months

**What it is** An Android cleaner that finds similar photos, large videos and duplicate contacts so you can delete them. Monetized through subscriptions.

**Why it's taking off** Begamob, under Vietnam's iKame, took its already-proven AI Cleaner, swapped the name and developer account, and pushed it again. It uses the group's paid acquisition machine and scary pop-up ads to drive installs, and climbs the charts in low-barrier countries like India and Nigeria.

**C** **How you can apply it** Teams with a working utility app can learn the multi-listing playbook of opening a second storefront. If you have no paid acquisition muscle, stay out of cleaners, or build a version that isn't scary, makes cancelling easy, and targets the US and Europe.

C grade: photo deduplication plus subscriptions is already crowded with Codeway and a long tail of followers. It's working here because a large publisher is copying its own hit and running a mature paid acquisition engine, which followers can't match. What you can take from it is the multi-listing approach and the playbook for climbing charts in low-barrier countries. Few people know about it yet

Clean Now is an Android phone cleaner. It launched in Jul 15, reached 6M installs by Nov 1.53, and ranked as high as #35 on the utilities top grossing charts in Nigeria, India, the Philippines and Argentina. The product itself is nothing new: the same Vietnamese company shipped a nearly identical app in March, which now has 11M installs. What's worth looking at is why it shipped another one, and whether this playbook works for you.

### An Indian user unlocks their phone and it pops up

On Nov 3, an Indian user left a one-star review on Clean Now's store page: "Ads pop up as soon as I unlock my phone... it shows up on screen no matter what I'm doing. Don't download." The same week, another wrote "It covers other apps and I'm very unhappy"; a third was blunter: "I don't need a cleaner app, but its notifications keep telling me to install it. So annoying."

The next day, Nov 4, someone gave it five stars with one line: "please don't ask again and don't show me again."

These two reviews tell half the growth story: on one side, ads everywhere pushing people in; on the other, rating prompts that keep popping up after install, propping the score up at 4.4.

### What it is

A tool that finds the "space hogs" on your phone and lets you delete them: similar photos, duplicate photos, screenshots, large videos, downloads, unused apps, plus duplicate contacts and expired calendar events. The store page says "one app to clean photos, videos, files, apps, contacts and calendar."

No ads. Revenue comes from subscriptions and in-app purchases, priced at $0.49 to $69.99 (Google Play, 11-06). The free tier is limited: in late July an Argentinian user complained, "Only 10 photos a day, and the one interesting feature is locked." Many also say the trial requires a card up front and charges kick in once it ends.

The developer is listed as "iKame - Begamob Application AI," with begamob.com as both website and email domain. Begamob is the utility app team under Vietnam's iKame group. Its site slogan is "People first, growth hacking first," and its partners include AppLovin, Unity, ironSource, Pangle, AdMob and Facebook. All of them are paid acquisition or monetization platforms.

### It's really the second store

The latest Clean Now update notes contain only one line, an internal codename: "ai-cleaner-2/production_v1.0.8.2."

"ai-cleaner" refers to another Begamob app: AI Cleaner: Clean up Storage, which launched in March 2026 and by Nov 6 had 11M installs, adding 530k in 7 days. It peaked at #3 on the Utilities Top Grossing chart (#3 in India, #8 in Nigeria). The two apps share nearly identical feature lists, price ranges, and copy. Clean Now is the same codebase with a new name, icon, and developer account (inferred, high confidence).

Why do it this way:

- **Taking up more slots for the same search terms.** When users search cleaner, storage or duplicate, two apps from "different companies" can show up together, and either tap lands in the same pocket. The package name `clean.ai.cleanduplicated.cleanstorage` is itself a string of keywords.

- **Paid acquisition can scale further.** One app's ad bids get pricier as spend grows. Splitting spend across two apps captures more volume without bidding against yourself (inference).

- **Spreading risk.** Google delisting or suspending cleaner apps is not rare, and two accounts won't fall together.

### Where the volume comes from

Cumulative installs (public Google Play figures, refreshed by Google only every day or two):

| Date | Total installs | Cumulative ratings |
|---|---|---|
| 10-29 | 1.38M | 10,581 |
| 10-31 | 1.42M | 12,427 |
| 11-03 | 1.49M | 15,339 |
| 11-06 | 1.53M | 18,044 |

7k new installs in 148 days, roughly 20k a day. For a company like iKame, that's a minor line item.

**Ads.** In the Google Ads Transparency Center, Begamob's Hong Kong entity BEGAMOB GLOBAL LIMITED has historically run two to three thousand creatives. 11-06 of them are active, more than 200, over 90% are app install ads, they cover 223 countries and regions, and two-thirds are video. Among active creatives there's a video for sibling app AI Cleaner (starting Oct 28 it ran in the US as "1 Swipe to Free Up Storage", one swipe to free space). I didn't find creatives landing directly on Clean Now; it may sit under another ad account. On Facebook, Clean Now's page posted a short video "Get a Cleaner, Faster Phone" in Sep 11, with 60k views, 817 likes and only 2 comments, a typical paid promotion post.

**Reviews point to another channel.** The complaints above about "popping up on unlock," "covering other apps," and "notifications telling me to install" aren't isolated. In early November, 200 English reviews were sampled, and 65 were one- or two-star; a third of those described pop-ups, notifications or forced jumps to the install page. Spanish-speaking users wrote "stop showing antivirus warnings, stop scaring me that Google will shut down," and Vietnamese users wrote "it keeps jumping up to take control, I can't use my phone, it feels like intimidation." This looks more like full-screen ads in other free apps, using scare copy like "your phone is infected" or "storage almost full" to push people to the store (inference; I can't tell from outside which ad network, or whether Begamob runs it). One Argentinian user gave five stars in Oct 29 with the comment "I wanted to see how the drama ends"; they were probably pulled over from a short drama app.

**Ratings.** From 10-30 to 11-06, about 148k new installs and roughly 6,500 new ratings, one rating for every 23 installs. Sibling AI Cleaner ran one for every 74 in the same period. The rating distribution says it too: of 18k ratings, 12k are five stars and only 685 are one star. But among reviews with text, one-star makes up 30%. People who tap five stars without writing anything were probably prompted at the "Cleaning complete, X GB freed" moment (inference, high confidence). 4.4 stars holds up the store page's conversion, but shouldn't be read as word of mouth.

**Nothing off-platform.** X and TikTok show nothing for it, nor for Begamob. Online, there are only auto-generated pages on download sites.

### Where the money comes from

Rank only, no revenue figures. 11-06 It's on the utilities top grossing charts in 17 stores: #24 in Nigeria, #25 in India, #32 in the Philippines, #35 in Argentina, #59 in Malaysia, #76 in Mexico; #125 in the US and #160 in the UK (Google Play, 11-06).

The money comes from subscriptions in India, Nigeria, the Philippines and Latin America. In these countries, cracking the Utilities Top Grossing top 25 is easy, and the users are plentiful while paid acquisition is cheap. The reviews show the cost: "Did the trial cancel or is it still auto-renewing?" "They charged me without confirming, and they don't reply to emails." "That money isn't mine. How do I cancel? I just had surgery and I'm stuck in bed, I can't get to a store." (Mexican user, September). Refunds and bad reviews are a cost of this business. The math works out, which is why they open a second store (inference).

### Who else is competing: the street is full

| Competitors | Scale (Google Play, 11-06) | Relationship to Clean Now |
|---|---|---|
| Cleanup: Phone Storage Cleaner (Turkey's Codeway) | 36.5M installs, +7k in 960 days, #30 on utilities top grossing in 1 stores | The template and the leader in the category, on iOS for five years; moved to Android in November 2025. Meta's ad library shows 3,800+ active creatives |
| AI Cleaner: Clean up Storage (also Begamob) | 11M, +7k in 530 days, peaked at #3 on top grossing | First store, same codebase |
| Phone Cleaner - AI Cleaner(Brain Trust) | 102M | Veteran, leans free with ads |
| Clean Manager(Shlag) | 9.25M, #11 on India top grossing | Same category, subscriptions 10 months earlier |
| CleanX(TapSuite) | 4M, 7 days +510k | Launched in May, same playbook at higher volume |
| Hyper Cleaner, Smart Clean Pro, Clean Pro, AI Clean Up, Phone Clean Fix and others | Each adding hundreds of thousands in 7 days | Launched between 9 and October, new entrants keep appearing |
| Files by Google, Samsung Device Care | Preinstalled | Free, with built-in duplicate and large-file cleanup |

Between 30 and 6 cleaner apps sit in the top 7 utilities top grossing charts in India and Nigeria. Clean Now is mid-pack here. It survives not on the product but because the company behind it already has a first store, creatives, and a media buying team.

### If it were you

**In one line:** "Photo dedupe + subscription" is a proven business in emerging Android markets, and it's already crowded. Clean Now only took off because a big publisher copied its own hit, and you don't have that.

**Who it suits:** companies that already run a working tool app and have a creative library and a paid-acquisition team. What's useful to you isn't the category, it's the "matrix" move: same codebase, new brand, new accounts, taking another slot on the same keywords and ad placements.

**Who it doesn't suit:** indie devs who've never bought ads. The top players run 3,800 ads on Meta at once, and newcomers show up every week. Without ad spend you won't rank in store search. Trying to win on "works better" is also hard, since users can't tell the seventh cleaner app from the sixth.

**How to do it:** if you already have a profitable tool app, open a second store the same way: new name, new icon, new account. Push the Top Free and Top Grossing charts in India, Nigeria, the Philippines and Latin America first, then the US and Europe. Ask for ratings at the moment users are happiest (just cleaned, just freed up GBs). If you don't have one, skip cleaning altogether and use these moves on a tool category that big companies haven't saturated yet. Another possible angle is what the leader does badly: the most common complaints in reviews are scary pop-ups, card-required trials and sneaky renewals. A cleaner app that isn't scary, gives a generous free tier and cancels subscriptions in one tap might have room in the US and Europe, where users and regulators care more about experience and compliance. But you'd be competing head-on with Codeway (my inference, not verified).

**How to get users:** Google App Campaigns plus short Facebook and Instagram videos, all built on one hook: "swipe to free up space." Store listings in every language are stuffed with cleaner, storage and duplicate keywords.

**When it was the moment:** there was no clear window. This street has always been there, but it gets more crowded every month. If Google tightens review on scary ads and subscription charges, the apps that grew on those tactics will be the first to drop.

**What would show you're wrong:** if Clean Now's installs and AI Cleaner's installs start trading off against each other, the second store is just cannibalizing the first and the matrix adds nothing new. If Google Play starts pulling cleaner apps in bulk, or their Top Grossing ranks in India and Nigeria fall together, the business relies on gray-area traffic and the math no longer works.

Where users come from

- Inferred **Google paid acquisition (UAC/YouTube)** : Google Ads library: BEGAMOB GLOBAL LIMITED is linked to this app by domain, 2000–3000 historical creatives, 11-06 currently running, capped at 200 ads, 94% app install, covering 223 countries. Sampled creatives include a video for sibling AI Cleaner; no creative directly landing on Clean Now was seen.

- **Verified** **Facebook promo short videos** : app page Clean Now: Storage Cleaner (61551380247156) has 2026-09-11 Reel with 60K plays / 817 reactions / 2 comments, commenters from the Philippines and elsewhere, a typical paid-promotion pattern. Not tracked in the Meta ad library.

- **Verified** **New-account matrix / ASO** : a new developer account, iKame - Begamob Application AI, published the app with keyword-stuffed package names and titles, competing for the same keyword set as the first-store AI Cleaner. Release notes read ai-cleaner-2.

- Inferred **In-app rating prompts** : over the last 7 days ratings/installs were 4.4%, versus 1.35% for sibling AI Cleaner. Only 52 of 18,044 ratings have text.

- Inferred **Creators / influencers / media** : x-radar 60 days, TikTok search, no results.

## Why Clean Now: Storage Cleaner (com.clean.ai.cleanduplicated.cleanstorage) got traction

> Channel: Google Play | Developer account: iKame - Begamob Application AI (a new developer account under Begamob, part of Vietnam's iKame group) | Store launch: 2026-07-15 | Research date: 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

This isn't a new idea. The Vietnamese group iKame/Begamob used a **new developer account** to **re-skin and launch a second copy** of its already-working "AI Cleaner: Clean up Storage" (live since 2026-03, 11M installs, best TOOLS chart rank #3), aiming to take another slot in the "photo dedupe + subscription" cleaning market. Growth comes from the group's paid-acquisition machine (Google Ads advertiser BEGAMOB GLOBAL LIMITED, 2000–3000 historical creatives, 200+ currently running under a cap; Facebook app-page promo videos), with money mainly coming from TOOLS chart placements in low-barrier countries like India, Nigeria, the Philippines and Argentina. The product itself has no differentiation. The differentiation is that one company is putting a second table in the same category.

### 1. Data (our googleplay library, 2026-10-29 to 11-06)

| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Cumulative global installs | 1,529,655 (11-06); 10-29 is 1,382,049 |
| 7-day new installs | 147,606 (about 21k/day; Google refreshes install counts every 1–3 days, so single-day figures can show 0) |
| Score | 18,044 (10-29 is 10,581), steady +750~1,090 per day; rating 4.44 |
| Reviews with text | Only 52 reviews |
| In-app purchases | $0.49 – $69.99 per item; no ads (ad_supported=False), monetized purely through subscriptions and in-app purchases |
| Charted | 17 countries, TOOLS Top Grossing: Nigeria #24, India #25, Philippines #32, Argentina #35, Malaysia #59, Mexico #76; US #125, UK #160; Top Free only in TOOLS India #61, Nigeria #122 |
| Version | 1.0.8, release notes "ai-cleaner-2/production_v1.0.8.2". The internal codename is literally **ai-cleaner-2** |

Two signals worth noting:

- **Unusually high rating-to-install ratio** : over the last 7 days ratings +6,523 / installs +147,606 ≈ 4.4%; the sibling AI Cleaner over the same period was 7,199 / 531,817 ≈ 1.35%. Yet only 52 of 18,044 ratings have text (0.3%). This is the classic "in-app rating prompt right after a cleaning finishes" tactic, pushing ratings to 4.4–4.5 and propping up store conversion. It's a legitimate way to solicit ratings, but it means the 4.4 score shouldn't be read as word-of-mouth.

- **It's just a second store** : the release note "ai-cleaner-2" and the description and features (photos, videos, files, apps, contacts, calendar cleaned together) are identical to AI Cleaner: Clean up Storage.

### 2. Competitors: an extremely crowded category

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale (our library, 11-06) | How it differs from Clean Now |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cleanup: Phone Storage Cleaner(Codeway) | Android / iOS | iOS 2020-12;Android 2025-11-21 | Android 36.5M installs, 7-day +960k, best TOOLS chart rank #1 across 30 countries; iOS 755k ratings; 3,839 ads running on Meta right now | The category's template and leader. Clean Now is a late follower of the same "swipe to delete photos + subscription" model, 20x+ smaller |
| AI Cleaner: Clean up Storage (same owners, iKame/Begamob) | Android (iOS has the same-named AI Cleaner: Clean Up Storage+, 2022) | 2026-03-25 | 11M installs, 7-day +530k, TOOLS chart in 28 countries, best TOOLS rank #3 (India #3, Nigeria #8) | The same company's first product, with nearly identical features. Clean Now is a copy with a new name, icon and account |
| Phone Cleaner - AI Cleaner(Brain Trust) | Android | 2023-06 | 102M installs, 7 days +780k | Long-running file manager + cleaner, leans on free/ads, not dedupe subscriptions |
| Clean Manager: Storage Cleaner(Shlag) | Android | 2025-09 | 9.25M installs, 7-day +540k, TOOLS Top Grossing India #11, Nigeria #13 | Same-type subscription cleaner, launched 10 months earlier |
| Clean Up Phone Storage: CleanX(TapSuite) | Android | 2026-05-22 | 4M installs, 7-day +510k, best TOOLS chart rank #54 | Same approach, same period |
| AI Cleaner - Storage Cleaner(ai.storage.cleaner.app) | Android | Not verified | TOOLS Top Grossing India #19, Nigeria #7 | Peers |
| CleanMax / BlazeClean / AuraClean / CleanMas / Hyper Cleaner / Smart Clean Pro / Clean Pro, etc. | Android | 2025-09 ~ 2026-10 | Every 7 days, +370k ~ 850k new installs | Most take the free + ads route, or the old "junk cleaner / antivirus" playbook, and many only chart in Top Free |
| Files by Google / Samsung Device Care / the built-in storage manager | Big-company features | Files Go from 2017 | Preinstalled, 1B-level | Free, with built-in "duplicate files / large files" cleanup. Third-party apps can only sell on "AI similar photos," "swipe to delete," and fear-based marketing |

Among the apps in our library with clean/storage in the name or duplicate in the description, roughly 30 of the top 40 by 7-day new installs are cleaner tools. In the TOOLS Top Grossing top 30 in India and Nigeria, 6–7 are cleaner apps. **This is not an empty market. It's a proven, mature category that's being copied heavily.**

### 3. How users found it

| Channel | Evidence | Confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Google paid acquisition (UAC / YouTube / display) | Our googleads library: the advertiser BEGAMOB GLOBAL LIMITED (Hong Kong, verified), matched to this app's tracking list by domain. Historical creatives 2000–3000; 11-06 currently running, 200 (capped); 94% are app install ads, reaching 223 countries/regions, 66% video. In the sampled running creatives we can see videos from sister app AI Cleaner (running in the US since 10-28 as "1 Swipe to Free Up Storage"), but no creatives directly landing on the Clean Now package. Clean Now uses a different developer account, so its creatives may sit under another ad account. | Group-scale paid acquisition confirmed; Clean Now's own Google creatives not directly seen |
| Facebook / Instagram promoted short videos | The Facebook app page "Clean Now: Storage Cleaner" (page 61551380247156) posted a Reel "Get a Cleaner, Faster Phone" 2026-09-11 with 60K views, 817 reactions, and only 2 comments, with commenters from places like the Philippines. That's a typical paid-promotion post (https://www.facebook.com/61551380247156/videos/get-a-cleaner-faster-phone/1959424578087431/). 9-14 There are also other videos on the same theme. Our Meta ad library doesn't track this Page. | Promoted posts confirmed; spend scale unknown |
| Group growth culture | Begamob's website slogan: "Con người là trung tâm – Grow Hacking là số 1" (people at the center, growth hacking first). Listed partners include AppLovin, Unity, ironSource, Pangle, AdMob, and Facebook (https://begamob.com/). iKame's Facebook page publicly claims it can "manage Google Ads campaign optimization." | Confirmed |
| In-app rating prompts | Rating/installs 4.4% (sister app 1.35%); only 0.3% of ratings include written reviews | Inferred, strong signal |
| Store search / ASO | Package name and title stuffed with keywords (clean / ai / cleanduplicated / cleanstorage / Storage Cleaner). One company holds two accounts, each taking a spot on the same set of terms. | Inferred |
| Content / creators / media | X (x-radar corpus, 60 days) returns nothing for it or Begamob; TikTok search returns nothing; online there are only auto-indexed pages on download sites like APKPure, Softonic, FileHippo, and CNET. | Confirmed none |

### 4. Why it took off

1. **The category is proven:** Codeway's Cleanup has run on iOS for five years (750k ratings), and after moving to Android 2025-11 it hit 36M installs and ranked #30 in TOOLS Top Grossing in the 1 store, proving Android users will pay a subscription for photo deduplication.

2. **The sister flagship has already proven unit economics** : iKame/Begamob's own AI Cleaner (2026-03) has 11M installs and ranks as high as #3 in TOOLS Top Grossing. Clean Now is the same codebase ("ai-cleaner-2") with a new skin, shipped at nearly zero R&D cost.

3. **New accounts to claim more spots** : publishing under a new developer account, "iKame - Begamob Application AI" (the library shows only 2 apps), makes the listings look like a different company. That lets it appear alongside the flagship for the same keywords and ad placements, scaling paid acquisition without bidding against itself on one app. It also spreads the risk of a single account being banned.

4. **The group's paid acquisition machine** : iKame is one of Vietnam's largest mobile publishers (its game Screwdom is reported at $3M→$15M monthly revenue, and industry articles say it accounts for about a third of Vietnamese studios' in-app purchase revenue). Begamob keeps 200+ creatives running on Google at all times. Clean Now gets about 20k installs a day, a minor piece of that machine.

5. **Top Grossing charts in low-barrier countries** : revenue comes mainly from India, Nigeria, the Philippines, and Argentina, where the bar to reach roughly #25 in TOOLS Top Grossing is low. The US and UK rank only #125–160.

6. **Prompted reviews support conversion** : a 4.4 rating with very few written reviews, and a rating growth rate more than 3 times its sister app's, suggests rating requests are pushed hard in the flow.

### 5. Differentiation

**No product differentiation** . Features (photo/video/file/app/contact/calendar cleanup), price range, and copy all follow the same template as sister app AI Cleaner and Codeway Cleanup. Its internal codename is literally ai-cleaner-2. Its only "difference" is **distribution** : the same company puts a second table in the same category under a new brand and new accounts, capturing traffic the flagship can't reach. That's why it works, but the reasoning only holds for companies that already have a flagship and a paid acquisition machine.

### 6. How visible it is

Almost nobody knows about it yet. Revenue isn't public, and there are no TrustMRR listings or founder revenue posts. It doesn't show up on X or TikTok, only on auto-indexed download sites. But the "cleaner + subscription" category itself is already extremely crowded on Android (see the competitor table), so "nobody knows this app" doesn't mean "nobody is building this opportunity."

### 7. Copycats

Clean Now is itself a follower (of Codeway Cleanup and its own AI Cleaner). Launched after it with the same playbook: JTR Labs' Hyper Cleaner (+810k in 2026-10-09,7 days) and Smart Clean Pro (2026-09-18), BleymarStudio's Clean Pro - AI Cleaner (2026-09-24), Markcon's AI Clean Up: Storage Cleaner (2026-09-04), Luvasa's Phone Clean Fix (2026-10-22), FluxClean, HyperClean AI, and others.

### 8. Takeaways

- A tool app that already works can be duplicated with **a new account + new brand + the same codebase** , sharing creatives and paid acquisition know-how to claim one more spot on the same keywords (a matrix approach).

- Subscription utilities should first push for TOOLS Top Grossing in countries with low chart barriers like India, Nigeria, the Philippines, and Latin America, and only then look at Europe and the US.

- Showing an in-app rating prompt right after the "cleanup complete, freed X GB" moment can push the rating rate to 3 times the category norm.

- But for small teams without a paid acquisition machine, this category is already a red ocean. Codeway, the leader, runs 3,800+ ads on Meta at the same time.

### 9. Still unclear

- Clean Now's own paid acquisition channels and scale: Google's Ads Transparency Center links it to Begamob only by domain, with no creatives directly landing on it. Our Meta ad library didn't track its Page, and the TikTok ad library has nothing.

- Revenue: we only have Top Grossing rankings, no amounts. Unclear whether it cannibalizes or adds to the flagship's traffic.

- The store launch date 2026-07-15 may have been reset by metadata changes or country expansion. Our library only has it from 10-29, and AppstoreSpy's historical table since launch hasn't been backfilled.

- The specific equity relationship with Vietnam's iKame group (Begamob Global Limited is registered in Hong Kong, while its website and phone number are Vietnamese).
