# Leaked - Detective Story: a borrowed name, 110K installs in three weeks, and the thing that worked was the playbook, not the game

**What it is** A detective game where you dig through chats, photos, and social media on a virtual phone to solve cases. Free to play, watch ads for hints, in-app purchases unlock cases.

**Why it took off** TikTok revived the genre earlier this year. It borrowed the existing name "Leaked", cloned it into a Google Play that still had room, and most likely used paid acquisition to hit the Entertainment free chart across a dozen-plus European countries at once.

**C** **How you could follow it** Don't build another Leaked. Use player complaints as your checklist: fuzzy answer matching, a distinct ending for each case, original native-language scripts. Pick a market where people already make videos about this, such as Portuguese or Spanish, and acquire users with playable ads and recorded persona-account videos.

Grade C: category search interest peaked in May, both stores are crowded with clones, and four or five of them even use the name. It runs on a factory of multiple accounts and a paid acquisition budget that indie devs can't easily copy. What you can learn is the playbook. Few people know about it yet

"Phone Detective" games are the kind of small game TikTok pushed into the spotlight in 2026. In October, a Vietnamese app factory used sock puppet accounts to post one on Google Play, borrowing the name "Leaked" that people in this genre were already talking about. Three-plus weeks later it has 110k installs and is still adding over ten thousand a day. Nothing about it is new. What's worth watching is how it takes a crowded genre and eats it again in another store.

### A five-star review from someone who never opened the app

In Oct 30, someone gave Leaked - Detective Story five stars on Google Play, and 25 people marked the review helpful. He wrote: "Honestly I never played it in the app, I only played the ads it showed me, even though I installed it long ago. The ads are smooth, no lag. Most of the time I was playing the snake game inside, not finishing the boyfriend-and-girlfriend missions."

Several other strange reviews came in the same week: "It keeps telling me to install from Google Play, but I installed it from right here" (11-02), and "I just want to know why it installed itself on my phone" (11-03).

Those few lines pretty much explain how the app got its users: a large share of them saw its playable ads inside other apps first.

### What it is

It's a detective puzzle game. You get a virtual phone, go through chat logs, photos, social media, notes, and banking apps, dig up clues, and answer questions like "what time did she leave that night" or "which city is he heading to." Answer correctly and you move on. The store page says "every phone hides a secret, every message tells a story"; the cases are things like "a romantic weekend, a mysterious disappearance, a suspicious relationship."

Free to play, with ads to get hints when you're stuck; in-app purchases run from $1.99 to $99.99 (Google Play store page, 11-06). The developer account is Skytechlab Global App, and the website listed on the store page is amobear.vn.

### How big the numbers are

| Date | Total installs | Score | Best rank in the Entertainment free chart |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-29 | 8,919 | 89 | Netherlands #36 |
| 10-31 | 22,675 | 150 | Netherlands #31 |
| 11-02 | 66,399 | 220 | Netherlands #40, US #58 |
| 11-03 | 83,240 | 270 | Australia #22, UK #27 |
| 11-05 | 111,864 | 397 | Netherlands #17, UK #22 |
| 11-06 | 111,864 (updated every two days) | 457 | Netherlands #19, Canada #23, Australia #26, UK #28, US #41 |

Numbers come from Google Play install counts and chart data. Over 7 days it has added about 103k, around fifteen thousand a day, and is still accelerating. The store launch is dated 10-12, but it only took off in late October. 4.4,476 ratings so far (store page, 11-06).

Check the countries on the charts: the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, the UK, Sweden, the US, Poland, Italy, Germany, France, and Spain, a dozen-plus Western storefronts that appeared together in the same week; the Philippines and Malaysia rank 130 or lower. A game that spreads by word of mouth usually catches fire in one or two countries first and then expands outward. Charting in a dozen high-value countries in the same week looks more like ads run against a country list **(inference)** . None of the three ad libraries show its ads directly, but the reviews at the top are indirect evidence.

Not yet in the Top Grossing chart.

### Who made it: another sock puppet from a Vietnamese factory

The developer info on the Play page: an address in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, a Vietnamese phone number starting +84, and the website amobear.vn. Amobear is an app company in Hanoi that says it started 2013 years ago. At least 9 Play accounts point their developer website or email at amobear.vn or skytechlablimited.com, under names all over the place (Amobear VN Game Global, HUNG VUONG INTERNATIONAL, GONG KEE PTE. LTD., Velvet Pixel Studio...). Their products are caller-ID blockers, cleaners, AI photo apps, GPS cameras, and meme mini-games, with tens of millions of installs combined; the biggest, MemeMix Challenge, has 9.68M (Google Play developer page).

In Oct 28, an iOS version with the same name went live, under a different Vietnamese entity, CARA VIETNAM TRADE AND INVESTMENT JOINT STOCK COMPANY, with the seller website still skytechlab.com. As of 11-06 it had only 1 ratings on the US App Store.

So this isn't a hit made by an independent developer. It's a factory that spreads products across many accounts and buys ads, and when it saw the genre heating up, it cloned one and pushed it out fast.

### How crowded the category is

"Phone detective" isn't a new mechanic. Duskwood (2019) has 22.4M installs on Play, and Peek a Phone (2020) has 6.13M. This wave in 2026 started with Stalkie on iOS in January. On TikTok, creators posted "I'm going through my boyfriend's phone," with single videos getting hundreds of thousands to over a million views. Then the clones piled in. Pumf.it counted at the end of August: searching "phone detective game" on the US App Store returned 48 results, 24 of which were from 2026. On Google Trends, the term peaked in early May and by late August had dropped to 12% of that peak.

| Competitors | Launched | Scale | Its relationship to the others |
|---|---|---|---|
| ColdTrace: Cold Case Mystery | 2026-05/06 | Play 1.19M installs | The biggest one on Play |
| Leaked · Mobile Detective (Hapiga, also in Hanoi) | 2026-07-01 | Play 380k, daily adds have already fallen to 1–2 thousand | The original owner of the name "Leaked" |
| Untraced: Cold Case Detective | 2026-07-23 | Play 250k, reached #117–150 on the AU/CA/UK Top Grossing Entertainment charts | One of the few charging money |
| Stalkie · Mobile Detective | 2026-01-13 | US: 2,920 ratings | The leader of this wave, iOS only |
| Leaked · Mobile Detective Game (another developer) | 2026-08-18 | US: 250 ratings | Another one borrowing the "Leaked" name |

Numbers from Google Play installs and US App Store rating counts, 11-06. Searching "leaked dms" on the US App Store today, four of the top ten results are called "Leaked," from four different developers.

### Why it took off

**1. It borrows other people's buzz.** "Leaked" and "Mobile Detective" are both brand terms from Hapiga's game, and this app's store description calls itself "Welcome to Mobile Detective." From September on, a batch of Portuguese- and Spanish-language "persona accounts" on TikTok (@sara.detective, @cintia.detetive, @isocadet, @vapimediary) posted daily "this game is called Leaked DMs," each getting hundreds to thousands of views, tagged #stalkiesecretspy (TikTok, 10-12 to 11-06). From the outside it's impossible to tell which game those accounts promote, but some people who watch the videos and search "leaked" on Play land here. The original owner, Hapiga, adds a thousand or two a day on Play; this one adds fifteen thousand.

**2. It goes where supply is thin.** The iOS side already has dozens of clones, while only a few on Play have passed 100k installs. This one went to Play first.

**3. It buys its way up the charts (inference).** The reviews at the top, the simultaneous chart placements across a dozen Western countries, and a parent company that is already an ad-buying factory all point the same way. A snake mini-game inside the playable ad, used as bait to get taps, is a common creative pattern for this kind of factory.

### What players like and what they complain about

What they like is the feeling of going through someone else's phone: "It hits the gossip side of me" (11-03), "It has a sneaky feeling without real-world consequences" (10-28), "It really feels like going through someone's phone" (11-01).

The complaints cluster in one place, and they all point to content that wasn't carefully made:

- **Answers have to match exactly.** "The answer is 8:00 pm, you type 8pm, 8.00pm, or 20:00 and it's all marked wrong" (10-31); "212-715 with one missing hyphen doesn't count" (11-02,9 people marked helpful).

- **Clues can't be found.** "The hint told me to check the LinkedIn comments, but there were no comments there at all" (11-02).

- **AI-made, and wrong.** "It asked which country, the answer should be France, but it says Bruges, and Bruges isn't a country" (11-02); "Lots of generative AI images, a real letdown" (11-05).

- **Looks machine-translated from French.** "Some parts weren't translated. I only knew beau père meant stepfather because I read French" (11-01,23 people marked helpful); "I wish the story wasn't set in France, the names are too hard to spell" (10-30). The cases were probably originally written in French **(inference)** .

- **Too many ads, and now it charges.** "The ad before the hint is way too long" (11-04); "Why are premium cases locked behind a paywall now? The old version wasn't like this" (11-04).

- **No ending.** "Did the kidnapped woman end up safe or not?" (11-02)

The last one is interesting: several people want to know what happened to the characters after a case is solved. It gives you the puzzle but not the story.

### If it were you

**Verdict** : C. You can learn a playbook from it, but it isn't worth it for you as a standalone bet. The genre's search interest peaked in early May, both stores have dozens of clones, and even the name "Leaked" is used by four or five of them. It only got this far because of one factory's multi-account setup and ad budget, and independent developers usually have neither.

**Who it fits** : a small team already buying Play ads with a playable-ad pipeline in place, looking for a theme to practice on; or someone who can write a good script in one language. The real gap in this genre is story, not mechanics.

**Who it doesn't fit** : anyone who hasn't run ads and is counting on organic TikTok reach (the creator wave benefited Stalkie and ColdTrace, and now most videos come from promo accounts that get a few hundred views); anyone who wants to copy the English version and try to win Western markets.

**How to build it** : if you do build one, don't make another "Leaked." Use the complaints as your feature list: fuzzy matching or multiple choice for answers so players don't fight over punctuation; an ending for every solved case; scripts written originally in the player's own language, not machine-translated, with no obvious AI art. For language, pick a market outside English where people are already watching these videos on TikTok, such as Portuguese or Spanish (the persona accounts above are aimed at those audiences).

**How to acquire users** : playable ads, with the first thirty seconds of "going through my boyfriend's phone" as the creative; on TikTok, persona accounts posting vertical screen recordings of "going through XX's phone." Put the genre keyword in the store name (phone detective, mobile detective), and don't borrow another game's brand term. That is the fastest way to get taken down.

**How much time you have** : the wave is already fading, so the window is roughly from now until the first quarter of next year. If you haven't reached a Top Grossing number by then, stop.

**What would show you're wrong** : ① this app or Untraced reaches the top 50 of the Western Top Grossing Entertainment charts before December, which would mean paying users here are stronger than expected and serious content investment is worth it; ② the search term "phone detective game" rebounds on Google Trends; ③ the reverse: Hapiga gets it taken down, or its daily adds fall to a few thousand within a month, which would mean the borrowed-name-plus-ads route has run its course.

Where users come from

- Inferred **Name borrowing + store search** : the name uses the brand term from Hapiga's "Leaked · Mobile Detective", and the description calls it Mobile Detective. On TikTok, "leaked detective game" results are all other accounts promoting Leaked (@leaked_detective_game_ 65k views, and a batch of Portuguese/Spanish persona accounts promoting @Leaked DMs). Hapiga's Play version adds about 1.5k a day; this app adds about 15k.

- Inferred **Paid acquisition (Western tier-1 targeting)** : at the same time it rose on the Entertainment free charts in over a dozen stores including nl/ca/au/gb/se/us/pl/it/de/fr/es, with Southeast Asia lagging. The parent company, Amobear, is a multi-account paid acquisition operation. Google's ad library returns no advertiser for the legal entity, product, or domain (possibly via proxy accounts). The same-named ads in TikTok's European library don't match, and nothing was tracked in Meta's library.

- **Verified** **Category heat / TikTok creators (spillover from others' content)** : category creator videos reach millions of views (@elena.spylisa 1.49M, @vero.detective 1.25M, @miaonthecase 510k). Pumf.it data shows half of iOS search results for this category were released in 2026.

- **Verified** **multi-entity, dual-platform spread** : the iOS same-name version 10-28 is listed by CARA VN TRADE AND INVESTMENT JSC, seller site skytechlab.com, first climbing the entertainment charts (mu #31, sk #48)

## Why Leaked - Detective Story (com.detective.mobile.story) managed to break out

> Google Play · Developer account Skytechlab Global App (developer site amobear.vn, address in Hong Kong, Vietnamese phone +84) · First store release 2026-10-12 · Entertainment · Contains ads + in-app purchases ($1.99–$99.99) · Research date 2026-11-06. Figures come from our googleplay / appstore databases unless noted.

### Bottom line

This is not a new category, nor an original product. It's a "phone-browsing detective" game from Vietnamese paid acquisition shop **Amobear** , run through a front account (Skytechlab), and **it even borrows "Leaked", the name that already had buzz in this category on TikTok** (Hapiga's Leaked · Mobile Detective, Leaked DMs on TikTok). Starting in 2026, TikTok creators and persona accounts (Stalkie, ColdTrace, Untraced, Peekie...) pushed the category up. The App Store is already crowded, and on Google Play only ColdTrace is really big (1.19M). This app hit 110k installs in 3 weeks on Play through a playbook of category heat, name borrowing, and synchronized pushes up the Western tier-1 Entertainment free charts. It worked because of its **distribution playbook** , not product differentiation.

### 1. Data: how fast it gained traction

| Date | Total installs | increase | Score | Best Entertainment chart rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10-29 | 8,919 | – | 89 | nl #36 (charted in 13 stores total) |
| 10-31 | 22,675 | +13,756 | 150 | nl #31 |
| 11-02 | 66,399 | +43,724 | 220 | nl #40,us #58 |
| 11-03 | 83,240 | +16,841 | 270 | au #22,gb #27 |
| 11-05 | 111,864 | +28,624 | 397 | nl #17,gb #22 |
| 11-06 | 111,864 | (Play updates twice a week) | 457 | nl #19, ca #23, au #26, gb #28, us #41 (19 stores) |

- 7 days, 102,945 new, about 15k a day, and still accelerating (googleplay app_day, chart_rank).

- Rating 4.45, histogram [31,18,9,50,347]. Rating-to-install ratio is about 0.4%, within the normal range for paid or organic acquisition, with no obvious review manipulation.

- Nearly all charted stores are **high-value English-speaking and Western European stores** : nl, ca, au, gb, se, us, pl, it, de, fr, es. Southeast Asia (ph, my) ranks after #130. A pattern of showing up across a dozen tier-1 stores on the same day is typical of targeted campaigns, not organic spread from a single hit.

- No Top Grossing records yet. The iOS version of the same name, **Leaked - Detective Story** (id 6820929686, developer CARA VN TRADE AND INVESTMENT JSC, seller site skytechlab.com), launched 10-28 and is currently only at #31–99 on Entertainment charts in small stores such as Mauritius, Guyana, and Slovakia, with 0–1 ratings (appstore database; iTunes lookup).

### 2. Who it is: Amobear's front-account matrix

- Play page "About the developer": SkyTechLab Limited, address in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, Vietnamese phone +84; the website is listed as **amobear.vn** (Play store page, 2026-11-06).

- At least 9 accounts in our database point their developer website or email domain to amobear.vn or skytechlablimited.com: Amobear VN Game Global, Amobear Game Global, HUNG VUONG INTERNATIONAL, GONG KEE PTE. LTD., GONG INTERNATIONAL AGENCY PTE LTD, GNAW N RAW LTD, Velvet Pixel Studio, SHI & COMPANY INC, Skytechlab Global App. Combined they have tens of millions of installs (MemeMix Challenge 9.68M, GPS Map Cam 5.51M, Fishing Mega Battle 4.01M, Smart Blocker 2.8M...) (googleplay developer table).

- The lineup is a classic Vietnamese "tools + casual + copycat" factory: call blocking, cleaners, AI photo, GPS camera, meme games. Amobear claims it started 2013 years ago, has a 700-square-meter office in Hanoi, and attended the Google Global App Summit 2026 (amobear.com, amobear Facebook page).

- Bottom line: this is **a company with mature paid acquisition and multi-account distribution** that saw a hot category and copied it fast. It is not an indie developer's original work.

### 3. Competitors: this category has been in a "clone wave" for 2026 years

Pumf.it's 2026-08-29 article "Search 'Phone Detective Game' and 24 of the 48 Results Launched in 2026" found that of 48 US App Store results for "phone detective game", 24 were released in 2026. Google Trends for "phone detective game" peaked in May and fell to 12% of its peak by August. The article used Hapiga's Leaked as an example (at the time #6 in the UK and #13 in France). ### 4. Growth tactics

1. **Name borrowing + store search (high confidence)** : the name is literally "Leaked", and the description calls it "Mobile Detective". Both are brand terms from Hapiga's "Leaked · Mobile Detective". In TikTok search results for "leaked detective game", nearly everything is other accounts promoting Leaked (one post by @leaked_detective_game_ has 65k views; a batch of Portuguese and Spanish persona accounts, @sara.detective, @cintia.detetive, @isocadet, @lustalkerrr, were promoting "@Leaked DMs || Detective game" in October with the #stalkiesecretspy tag) (TikHub search, 2026-11-06). Many people who see those videos and search "leaked" on Play land on this package. Hapiga's own Play version has dropped to 1–2k daily adds, while this app adds 15k a day.

2. **Paid acquisition (inferred, not directly confirmed)** : it reached Entertainment free charts across more than a dozen Western tier-1 stores at once, adds over ten thousand a day steadily, and the parent is a multi-account paid acquisition shop. But our ad libraries have nothing: Google's Ads Transparency Center returns no advertiser when searching by legal entity, product name, or domain (googleads adv_map 2026-11-06; Vietnamese companies often run ads through agency accounts, so a miss doesn't mean no spend). TikTok's European ad library has same-named ads that don't match (tiktokads adv_map unconfirmed). Meta's library was not tracked.

3. **Category heat (timing)** : TikTok creator videos about "looking through someone's phone" games routinely hit hundreds of thousands to millions of views (@elena.spylisa 1.49M, @vero.detective 1.25M ColdTrace, @miaonthecase 510k Untraced), so the demand already exists. Supply on Google Play is much thinner than on iOS (iOS has dozens of clones; only a few on Play have passed 100k).

4. **Both platforms** : 10-28 also launched the iOS version of the same name through another Vietnamese entity (CARA VN), first pushing the small-storefront charts.

### 5. Why users stay and pay

- Reviews (Play page, 11-05): positives say "finding clues is fun"; negatives cite loading failures and "premium cases are now locked behind a paywall, the old version wasn't like this", suggesting they began tightening monetization after building volume.

- Monetization: ads plus in-app purchases at roughly $1.99–$99.99 each, the typical "first few cases free, later ones unlocked or hinted at for a fee" model. It has not yet reached Top Grossing, so whether the money comes back is unverified.

### 6. Differentiation

Essentially nothing new. The mechanics (reading chats, photos, and social media on a virtual phone and answering questions) are the same as Stalkie, ColdTrace, and Hapiga's Leaked. The name is borrowed. The only real differences are two:

- It competes on **Google Play** , a side where this category's leaders mostly haven't built yet (most top players launched on iOS first).

- Behind it is a factory with multi-account and paid acquisition capability, able to spend money to push the charts while category heat lasts.

So the reason it broke out is distribution and name borrowing, not product differentiation.

### 7. Visibility

- The package itself: no press coverage, no discussion on X (x-radar finds 0 posts for "leaked detective" in the last 60 days), only auto-generated pages from tools like AppRankSpy and AppGlint. Few people know about it yet.

- But the category it sits in is already heavily written about: Pumf.it's clone-wave analysis, secretagame.com's "Phone Investigation Games: the Whole Genre", and GameRant roundups. The category itself is a red ocean.

### 8. What others can learn

- Watch categories that are newly hot on iOS and TikTok, and **go after the supply gap on Google Play** .

- Use the words the category keeps repeating on TikTok (here, "Leaked") directly in your name, and pick up search traffic that other people's creator content is already generating.

- multi-account, multi-entity distribution: one legal entity each for iOS and Android, so if one fails the other isn't dragged down;

- Risk: riding the name could get it reported and pulled from the store; search interest in the category peaked in May, so the window is short.

### 9. Uncertain

- Whether it's actually paying for acquisition, and where (no direct evidence on Meta / Google / TikTok);

- How much revenue, and retention and ARPU behind the paywall;
