Stiko: Stickers for WhatsApp · Dev By Meco

Teaching people on TikTok how to move TikTok stickers out: a Spanish developer's small tool went from 17k to 60k installs in two weeks

What it is An Android/iOS utility: you screenshot or screen-record the TikTok sticker tray, and it splits the stickers apart, strips the white borders, and packs them into a set you add to WhatsApp.

Why it took off TikTok built stickers into comments and DMs, and Latin American users have collected plenty but can't export them. The developer posted Spanish tutorials on "how to move them" on TikTok, and the people who saw the videos were exactly the ones who wanted to move stickers. A few videos were enough to drive installs.

BHow you could follow Go after a language market Stiko doesn't cover (Brazilian Portuguese is the most obvious, then English-speaking Africa), do well on the things Stiko gets criticized for, like cutout clarity and low-end device support, and get users through tutorial accounts in the target language. Move fast.

Grade B: the need is real, the method is clear, and acquisition costs almost nothing, and the open language markets are visible. But within a few months five or six similar tools have appeared, the product has no moat, monetization in markets like Latin America and Brazil is weak, and if TikTok or WhatsApp adds native export, the whole category disappears. Stiko does one thing: you screenshot a TikTok sticker tray, it auto-slices the dozen-plus stickers inside, and packs them into a WhatsApp sticker pack. Built by a Spanish indie dev with no paid acquisition and no press, just Spanish-language tutorials on their own TikTok. One Oct 29 video hit 920K views, and over the next five days new Google Play installs were double the app's total before that. The need is real, but five or six others are already building it. The opening is in the language markets Stiko hasn't touched, and the window won't stay open long.

"I downloaded it, I'll come back and tell you if it's any good"

In October 29 of 2026, the TikTok account @stikoapp posted a 38-second video with one line of copy: "Stiko, pasa tus stickers de tiktok a whatsapp" (Stiko, move your TikTok stickers to WhatsApp). By November 6 the video had 920k views, 112k likes, and nearly 1,800 comments.

The most-liked comment (7,884 likes) was "ya me la descargue les aviso si es bueno o no": I downloaded it, I'll let you know if it's good. The second (1,922 likes) said "tiene virus" (it has a virus), and the third (1,508 likes) was someone posting a sticker asking "I can really use this one in WhatsApp?" Further down: "Si funciona 100%" and "si sirvió, nuevo seguidor" (it works, new follower), along with a cold splash of water: "lamento informarles que es de paga" (sorry to tell you, it's paid), and one with 278 likes: "Tried it and only then remembered that nobody messages me anyway."

Nearly all these comments are in Spanish, and the tone is consistent: people have long wanted to take these stickers with them and just never found a way.

What it is

Here's how it works: open your saved stickers in TikTok, screenshot the grid, and import it into Stiko. It detects and crops each sticker in the grid, then you go through them one by one, fix any bad crops, add missing ones, delete extras, save as a pack, and add it to WhatsApp in one tap. You can also screen-record or share a TikTok video into it to make an animated sticker (added in the Nov 4 update).

The store page and videos keep pushing three selling points: cut a whole pack from one image; "sin borde blanco" (no white border), removing the white edges that screenshots bring along; and processing happens locally on the phone, no sign-up needed. There's also a "community" where other people's sticker packs can be downloaded directly.

The developer is Marcos Gonzalez Ferreira, under the brand Dev By Meco, based in Spain. He also has a couples' commitment app, an AI dream journal, and an app that tracks Spanish fuel prices, none of them large. The iOS version of Stiko launched in August 25, and the Android version in September 3. The Google Play listing says "contains ads, contains in-app purchases," with in-app purchases from $1.99 to $29.99.

How it grew

The install curve lines up closely with the days he posted videos (Google Play installs and third-party estimates of daily new installs; video data from TikTok, 11-06):

TimelineWhat happenedAverage daily new installsTotal installs

11-03 ~ 11-05No new breakout videos3,13360,269

As of November 5, about 7 days of new installs of 32,566; ratings rose from 31 in October to 1,707 at 3,181, average 4.9. The number of ratings is roughly 5% of installs, which is high for a utility, probably due to an in-app rating prompt (inference).

The account itself isn't large: @stikoapp has 12k followers, 35 posts, and 200k likes in total. What the breakout videos share is that each shows one specific action. The 370k-view video from October 25 was titled "sin borde blanco" and demonstrated removing the white border. Another from October 27 was called "Nos ayudas?" (Will you help us?). The cost-saving part of this approach is that he teaches people to move TikTok content out of TikTok, and the people who see the videos are exactly the ones currently using these stickers.

No paid promotion was found. The curve tracks organic video this closely that paid acquisition doesn't look like the main driver, though it can't be ruled out. Nobody on X, Reddit, or in the press has mentioned it.

Who uses it

The per-country iOS rating counts show the audience: Spain 87, Venezuela 50, Mexico 38, the US 36, followed by the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile; Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Portugal are each 0 (App Store, 11-06). Android has no country breakdown, but since all the videos are in Spanish, it's likely also mostly Latin America (inference).

This audience has two traits: WhatsApp is their default chat tool and they use stickers heavily, and their phones are often low-end. Comments show it: "my phone can't screen-record," "the cutouts came out blurry," "it looks fuzzy in WhatsApp, is that normal?" "animated ones don't cut fully." A top helpful review on Google Play from 34 people has the same tone: automatic cutting is "scary good," but "the sticker pack won't save in WhatsApp."

Why now

Over the past year or two TikTok has stuffed stickers into DMs and comments: in DMs you can turn video clips into stickers, and in September 3 it announced another round of comment-section features (TikTok Help Center; USA Today 9-03). Latin American users chat with stickers in comments and collect a lot of favorites, but those stickers only work inside TikTok.

There's always been demand for moving away. Tutorials like "how to transfer TikTok stickers to WhatsApp" keep blowing up on TikTok: @zandile_kabine has 10-04 with 2.09M views, @numloco1 7-12 has 1.61M, @sandrard.21 8-31 has 1.43M. The manual way is to screenshot each sticker and cut it out one by one in a generic sticker maker, which is a pain. Stiko cuts that step down to one tap.

(Play install counts are third-party data as of early November.)

Note that by 7 October, at least five people were building the same thing at almost the same time, and Quivly's videos were bigger than Stiko's. So "cut a whole pack from one image" is not a moat. Stiko's win this round came from two things: sticking with short-form video, and picking Spanish-speaking Latin America, the market where stickers get used most heavily.

What's still hanging

  • Revenue is invisible. The users are young people in Latin America, ad CPMs are low, and nobody outside can see what the in-app purchases sell or how many people buy.
  • Momentum depends on the next hit. Since Nov 3, daily installs have dropped from 7,700 to 3,100, and if they stop posting the curve keeps falling.
  • One platform decision could kill it. If TikTok lets users export stickers, or WhatsApp recognizes TikTok stickers directly, tools like this become useless.
  • Copyright. Most of these stickers aren't the user's own, and the store listing only says "use content you have the right to use."

If it were you

In one line: the need is real, the method is clear, and acquisition is almost free, but within a few months the niche has filled with five or six players, and the platform could add the feature itself at any time. Worth trying, but move fast and build somewhere else.

Who it fits: someone who can ship a solid image-cutting + WhatsApp-export Android app in a week or two, who is willing to post short videos every day, and who speaks a language Stiko doesn't cover.

Who it doesn't fit: people who want long-term subscriptions or high ticket prices; people unwilling to show up on camera who only plan to rely on store search; people with iOS only (the users are mainly on Android).

How to do it:

  1. Switch languages. Stiko's iOS rating is 0 across Brazil, Portugal, Indonesia and India. Brazilian Portuguese is the clearest gap: WhatsApp is the national tool, and sticker culture is at least as strong as in Spanish-speaking Latin America. English-speaking Africa (South Africa, Nigeria) is worth a look too; several of the million-view English tutorials above come from there.
  2. Do the things it does badly. The most common complaints in reviews are blur, misaligned cuts, animated stickers getting truncated, and failing to save into WhatsApp. Getting the cuts precise, keeping quality high, and working on low-end phones (falling back to sharing a video link on phones that can't record the screen) is a practical point of difference.
  3. Get the whole flow down to a demo under 30 seconds, because the demo is your ad.

How to get users: copy Stiko's playbook. Open a TikTok account in the target language, make each video demo one pain point ("remove the white border", "animated stickers", "works on low-end phones"), and put the exact phrase users search for in the title (in Portuguese, something like "passar figurinhas do TikTok para o WhatsApp"). Reply to comments a lot, and turn screenshots of people who succeeded into the next video. Store titles should carry keywords like "Stickers / Figurinhas para WhatsApp".

When to move: the sooner the better. From 7 through October similar tools kept appearing one after another, and this gap is measured in months, not years. Ideally launch and post the first batch of videos before the end of 2026 (inferred).

What would mean you read it wrong: a month of posting, a dozen-plus videos, and not one passes 100k views, which would mean there's no demand in that language market. Or TikTok / WhatsApp announce sticker export or interoperability, in which case stop immediately.

Why Stiko: Stickers for WhatsApp (com.devbymeco.stiko) took off

One line

A small tool built by a Spanish indie developer (Marcos Gonzalez Ferreira, Dev By Meco): it automatically cuts stickers from TikTok (a screenshot of the sticker tray or a screen recording) into a WhatsApp sticker pack. In 2026, TikTok sticker packs in comments and DMs took off, but TikTok doesn't allow export, and lots of Spanish-speaking Latin American users were searching for a way to "pasar stickers de TikTok a WhatsApp." Stiko ran tutorial videos from its own TikTok account, @stikoapp, and one video hit 10-29 920k views, pushing installs from 17k to 60k.

What the product is

  • Take a screenshot of the TikTok "saved stickers" grid, and the app automatically detects and cuts out each sticker. Users fine-tune them one by one, save them as a pack, and add it to WhatsApp in one tap. It can also turn videos / screen recordings into animated stickers (11-04 update added "animated stickers").
  • Selling points: "sin borde blanco" (no white border), 100% on-device processing, no sign-up; plus a "community" plaza for sticker packs.
  • Monetization: ads + in-app purchases $1.99–$29.99 (Play page). Play rating 4.9,3.3 thousand reviews (Play Spanish page, 2026-11-06).
  • Launch: iOS 2026-08-25 (iTunes lookup, version 1.2.1); Play library records the first release as 2026-09-03. The developer also has three smaller apps (devbymeco.com): a couple's agreement app, an AI dream-journal app, and a Spanish fuel-price app called GoFull. None are big; the library only tracks Stiko.

The install curve lines up almost one-to-one with video dates: after the 09-13 video, installs ramped up in early October to 336 a day; two videos 10-25 (510k views combined) match 10-23–25 at 3,393 a day; the 10-29 hit with 920k views matches 10-29–11-02 at 5,000–7,700 a day; after that there were no new hits, and from 11-03 installs fell back to 3,133 a day. This is classic "TikTok organic traffic → store," and it's teaching people on TikTok how to move TikTok content out, so the target audience is exactly the people scrolling TikTok, and conversion is very smooth.

Other channels:

  • Third-party user-made tutorials: @looraaiiloo (09-23,2,373 views, @Stiko) and a few other UGC posts; also Android "joyitas de la Play Store"-style reposting accounts (@android.proo36,11-460k views, not confirmed to mention Stiko).
  • Download sites: CNET Download and FileHippo have pages (auto-listed, low volume).
  • Store search: the titles "Stickers for WhatsApp / Stickers para WhatsApp" pick up keywords; ranking unverified.
  • Paid ads: our ad library only tracks a fixed list and found nothing; not ruled out, but how closely the curve matches organic video suggests paid acquisition isn't the main driver.
  • X / Reddit / media: x-radar finds nothing; on Reddit there are only users asking "how do I get TikTok stickers into WhatsApp," with no mention of Stiko.

User distribution (iTunes ratings count by store, 2026-11-06)

Small iOS volume overall: es 87, ve 50, mx 38, us 36, do 11, co 10, pe 9, ar 8, cl 7; br / in / id / pt at 0. So the users are in the Spanish-speaking world (Spain plus Latin America), and the 36 US ratings are most likely Spanish speakers too. There's no country breakdown for Play, but since the TikTok videos are all in Spanish, it's likely also mainly Latin America (inferred).

Why now: the platform demand

  • Over 2025–2026 TikTok built stickers into comments and DMs (in DMs you can "Create sticker" from a video clip, documented on support.tiktok.com; 2026-09-03 TikTok then announced new comment features, reported by USA Today). Latin American users use stickers heavily in comments, but those stickers can't leave TikTok.
  • The demand is visible on TikTok: "how to transfer TikTok stickers to WhatsApp"-style tutorials are full of hits: @sandrard.21 08-31 1.43M views, @numloco1 07-12 1.61M, @zandile_kabine 10-04 2.09M, @toluoflele 09-15 770k; people are also asking on Reddit r/whatsapp. The manual method (screenshot → third-party sticker maker → cut each one out) is tedious, so a dedicated "one image, many stickers" tool has clear value.
  • WhatsApp is the default chat app across Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia, and sticker culture is huge there.

Differentiation

  1. "Screenshot one image → auto-split into a full pack": it detects the grid layout of TikTok's saved-sticker screen and outputs a dozen-plus stickers at once, so you skip cutting each one by hand. This is the fundamental difference from general sticker makers.
  2. White border removal (sin borde blanco): stickers cropped from TikTok often come with a white background or edge. Stiko markets this as a selling point and explicitly covers it in two videos (10-25 370k views, 11-02 83k).
  3. On-device, no account: compared with Quivly, which needs you to log into TikTok to pull DMs, the barrier and privacy concerns are both lower.
  4. Spanish localization + Spanish-language TikTok ops: the developer is based in Spain, and the videos and store page are native-level Spanish, aimed squarely at the Latin American audience that uses stickers most.

Why it took off: the product hooks (one-screenshot full packs, white-border removal) make tutorial videos "instantly understandable, instantly testable", which is the precondition for videos to blow up. But the real volume came from @stikoapp's TikTok content. Similar products like Stiktl and Quivly exist in the same niche, and Quivly's videos are even bigger (1.66M), so differentiation isn't a moat. Distribution and the choice of language market are the main reasons for Stiko's run.

How many people have seen it

  • Revenue isn't public. No TrustMRR listing, founder revenue posts, press coverage, or big X accounts found (x-radar: 0 posts).
  • But the demand, "move TikTok stickers to WhatsApp", is an openly trending topic on TikTok itself. At least 5 similar tools (Quivly, Stiktl, StickerGrab, STiker, ttstickers.pro) appeared around the same time (2026 7–October). The niche is already crowded, just still small.
  • Verdict: a small-circle buzz (spreading among Latin American TikTok users; the developer community and media haven't noticed yet).

Takeaways

  • Content can't leave platform A → build a conversion tool and acquire users through tutorials on platform A: users are already searching TikTok for answers, so the tutorial video is itself the ad, at zero cost and with precise targeting.
  • Pick one language market (Spanish-speaking Latin America) and focus on it, localizing the store page and videos.
  • Film a single concrete pain point on its own (white borders) as a video. It goes viral better than a full feature rundown.
  • Keep posting short videos and shipping updates (animated stickers) to sustain momentum. Monetize with ads + in-app purchases, which suits low-ticket, high-traffic audiences.

Uncertain

  • Play-side country breakdown, revenue, what's sold in-app (unverified).
  • Whether there's paid acquisition (ad libraries don't cover it; nothing found).
  • Whether the high rating-to-install ratio comes from in-app rating prompts (unverified).
  • Quivly's install count (not in the library; AppBrain blocked).
  • Retention after the viral spike: after the 11-03 peak, daily installs fell from 7.7k back to 3.1k and depend on the next viral video. Also, once TikTok or WhatsApp natively supports exporting/cross-platform stickers, tools like this get replaced outright. Sticker copyright is a risk too (the app itself states "use content you have the right to use").
