# Pulled once, back with a new account: how Vietnamese app factory Tevo's short-drama app Dramini got 130k installs in a week on $10M in acquisition money

**What it is** A vertical short-drama app with about 80 shows, making money from ads, point-based unlocks, and small in-app purchases. Behind it is Vietnam's app factory Tevo.

**Why it went viral** The product was already validated. After the old app was pulled, Tevo relaunched under a new small account, then spent the paid acquisition money from September on Facebook and other ads across 12 countries. The traffic was bought, not earned by word of mouth.

**D** **How to play it** Don't copy the generic short-drama shell; the opening is in what it gets wrong. The bad reviews all say "it's all East Asian dramas." Make a short drama for one country, with local faces and local stories, test the first episodes on YouTube/Facebook, then build the App.

Grade D: The growth comes from an established brand's payback data, dedicated paid acquisition funding, and a matrix of accounts. Followers can't replicate any of that. The short-drama category's top players add several million new users a week, and 169 small-account packs are crowding the same space. The only lesson worth taking is localized content, but that takes content capability, not this app's playbook. Few people know about it yet

Dramini is a vertical short-drama app. Its old package reached about 2.6M installs in three months, then disappeared from Google Play in 2026 October. In 9 October, a new developer account called Hand of Midas Lab relaunched it under a new package name. Volume ramped up at the end of October, reaching 130k installs in one week. Behind it is Vietnam's app factory Tevo, which in September had just raised $10M in money earmarked for acquisition. This piece covers how it got going, and why independent developers copying it have essentially no chance, but the bad reviews point to a more interesting gap.

### A review from Facebook

In November 3, a user named Mary Devlin left a review of Dramini on Google Play:

> why are they all Asian. I got from Facebook the previews showed really good stories not all these Asian stories

(Why are they all Asian dramas? I came from Facebook, and the story in the trailer looked good, not these Asian shows.)

Two days earlier, another user was more blunt: "Stop pretending, it's only East Asian dramas, totally boring." That comment got 13 "helpful" votes. Someone else said "fake app, there are no shows, delete it."

In November 5, the developer replied to all three, with a contact email of tevo.success@gmail.com, not the candy.lamborghini@gmail.com listed on the store page.

These reviews tell half the story of the app: the users were bought with Facebook ads, the ads showed the stories users wanted, and what they got on opening the app was something else. The replies came from the parent company, Tevo, not the unfamiliar account name on the store.

### What it is

A textbook short-drama app: vertical, episodic, a few minutes per episode. Part of it is free, and the rest is unlocked by watching ads, earning points, or paying. The store page is labeled "contains ads, contains in-app purchases," with single in-app purchases of $4.49 to $39.99.

Its official site, dramini.tevo.app, is more flamboyant than the store page: "80 exclusive short dramas, 7,000+ episodes" and "Earn & Watch: earn points in the app to unlock more content." The new package's store copy dropped all of that, leaving only a neutral line, "Discover entertaining short stories." The download button on the official site still points to the old package, and clicking it leads to 404.

The developer info at the bottom of the store page lists a company called "Thien Duc Duong Services Trading JSC" in Lang Son province, Vietnam. Opening the developer site hand-of-midas.tevo.app shows only "Coming Soon." The privacy policy is hosted on Google Sites. Since 20 October, the version has stayed at 1.0.1.

### How it got started: the backstory

| Bundle ID | Account | Timeline | Scale | Now |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| com.dramini.shortdrama.streaming.movies | Vitality AI | Listed 2026 6–July, last version 9-17 | About 2.6M installs and 15k ratings (AppBrain); early estimated revenue of $10K+ a month, with 78% from in-app purchases (AppGoblin) | "Listed for 3 months, pulled in 2026 October" (AppBrain), store page 404 |
| com.dramovie.short.drama.reel.movies.streaming | Hand of Midas Lab | 2026-10-09 | 138k installs (Google Play, 11-06) | Listed |

Why the old package was pulled can't be found from outside. It could be show copyright, "watch shows to earn points" being treated as misleading rewards, or account linkage (all speculation). The new package follows the standard post-removal playbook: swap accounts, swap package names, strip risky wording from the copy, and keep the brand name.

Tevo does this habitually. Apps whose developer websites sit under the tevo.app subdomain number at least 13 on Google Play, spread across 8 developer accounts: Live Earth Map (15.8M installs), ID Caller (11.8M), Natal Chart, TrustDial… Each account uses a different gmail, and the privacy policies are all hosted on Google Sites. Besides Dramini, the Hand of Midas Lab account also has wallpapers, a document reader, and a tool for "secretly viewing read messages." If one account gets into trouble, the others aren't affected. That's the small-account matrix.

### Where users come from: bought

The install curve clearly reflects a budget being switched on (cumulative Google Play installs):

| Date | Total installs |
|---|---|
| 10-29 | 6,056 |
| 10-31 | 22,992 |
| 11-02 | 89,880 |
| 11-05 | 111,788 |
| 11-06 | 137,710 |

AppstoreSpy's estimates are more granular: in the first two weeks after listing, around three hundred a day; in 26 October it suddenly jumped to over three thousand; from 30 October it ran from 8 thousand to over 30k a day. That's a step function, not a word-of-mouth curve.

The charts match too: tens of thousands of installs a day only bought rankings in the Entertainment free category. Best was #39 in Nigeria, #55 in the UAE, #68 in Canada, #109 to #179 in the US, and it never entered the overall or Top Grossing charts. Charting countries expanded from 5 to 12 within a week, with the US, Canada, Australia, France, and Nigeria, the Philippines, and India appearing at the same time, which looks like country-by-country placement. The opening review, "I came from Facebook," at least confirms Meta was one channel; other channels aren't visible from outside.

The source of the money is public. In 2026 September 8, Tevo announced a $10M "non-dilutive" raise from Singapore's PvX Partners: no equity was given up, the money could only be used to buy users, and repayment is tied to the revenue those bought users generate. Founder Thanh Luu described it as putting the money "behind a product that already has product-market fit" (Entrepreneur APAC, DealStreetAsia, 2026-09). A short-drama brand that hit 2.6M installs in three months with revenue on record is exactly what this kind of money wants to back.

There's almost nothing on social platforms: TikTok searches return nothing relevant, nobody mentions it on X, and only a few YouTube videos with a few hundred views ask "can Dramini actually make money, can you withdraw it."

### Where the money comes from

Ads, point-based unlocks, and small in-app purchases all mixed together. The new package has never charted in any top grossing list, so its revenue can't be seen from outside. Third-party estimates put the old package above $10,000 a month early on, with in-app purchases as the bulk (estimated).

The rating distribution is odd: among 161 ratings, 5-star ones number 120, 2-star 26, and 1-star and 13,3-star and 4-star are all 0. The most likely explanation is that the in-app rating prompt only sends satisfied users to the store, and dissatisfied users go find the page and leave low ratings themselves (inferred). After November 4, 2-star ratings clearly increased, and the average fell from 4.67 to 4.17. That matches the "all East Asian shows" complaints: they come from the same bought users.

### Who it's competing with

Short drama is one of the most crowded categories on Google Play. The top spots go to a few big players with hundreds of millions of cumulative installs (Google Play, 11-06):

| App | Behind it | Total installs | 7 new in the last day |
|---|---|---|---|
| ReelShort | China Literature | 307M | +5.51M |
| DramaBox | Dianzhong | 307M | +2.92M |
| FreeReels / DramaWave | Kunlun | 246M / 152M | — |
| Melolo | ByteDance family | 147M | — |
| PineDrama | TikTok | 84M | +3.01M |

Below them is the "watch dramas, earn money" camp, with Coin Drama at 17.9M and FreeDrama at 42.6M. Vietnam's VnExpress specifically reported on this camp in 20 October: a user in Ho Chi Minh City was lured by a Facebook ad into installing CoinDrama, opened it to see "earned 250k Vietnamese dong," with a withdrawal threshold of 500k. After an afternoon of watching ads, each reward dropped from 100k Vietnamese dong to 1 hundred, and the user never managed to withdraw anything.

Alongside Dramini, a wave of smaller apps using the same playbook launched around the same time. Since August 2026, 169 entertainment apps with drama or reel in their names have appeared, adding about 12.7M installs in a single week. Most use Gmail as their contact address. Drama World Pro (+690k in a week), ShortNext (+370k), and Dramaly (+330k) are among a dozen or so that each pulled more that week than Dramini did. Dramini sits in the middle of the pack.

### Why it works

There's no product differentiation: the library is about 80 shows, with the same features as the leader. It gets traction because of three things followers can't copy: a brand that has already run 2.6M installs and knows its payback numbers; ring-fenced paid acquisition money; and an account matrix that can restart with a new listing whenever one gets pulled.

### If it were you

**Bottom line** : don't copy it. This is a publisher using financing to keep an older brand alive, not a product opportunity. What a small team can take from it is the lesson and the need that shows up in the bad reviews.

**Who it suits** : small teams that already have a working paid-acquisition app and can calculate how much each user costs versus how many days of payback that buys. They can learn from its financing approach, such as PvX-style repayment tied to revenue from acquired users. The bar is having payback data you can show. The other group is people who control a source of localized short-drama content: vertical short dramas with local actors from Nigeria, India, or Latin America, or teams that can turn Western stories into short drama.

**Who it doesn't suit** : indie devs who want to build a general short-drama app from scratch. Content costs money, and so does acquisition. The leader adds millions of installs a week, while the small packs in the same period add hundreds of thousands to a few million. You won't have the content or the budget to compete on either front. It also doesn't suit anyone hoping to grow by paying people to watch: AdMob explicitly bans paying for ad views directly. This model has already been named by media and police in Vietnam and Thailand, and swapping accounts to start over is something Tevo can afford and you can't.

**How to do it** : if you go this route, build the part Dramini gets wrong: content that matches the audience. It spreads across Nigeria, India, the Philippines, and the US/Canada, but reviewers complain that 'it's all East Asian dramas.' A short-drama app built for one country, with local faces and local stories only (speculation: Nollywood-style vertical short dramas in Nigeria, or one regional language in India), means more than building another generic shell. Don't start with an app. Post the first few episodes of a few shows on YouTube or Facebook, watch completion rates and whether the comments ask for episode two, then decide whether to build.

**How to acquire users** : run plot-clip ads on Facebook and TikTok with conflict in the first three seconds. But the creative has to be the shows that are actually in the app. Dramini's bad reviews show what happens when ads and content don't match: people who installed on the strength of the ad leave one-star reviews and uninstall.

**When to move** : no rush. This isn't a time-sensitive opportunity. Confirm you can reliably get local content first, then think about the product.

**Signs you're reading this wrong** : (1) Dramini's new pack reaches a country's Top Grossing chart within a month or two, or brings the old pack back to 2.6M installs. That would mean people who were bought through ads also pay, and a generic short-drama shell plus paid acquisition still works for mid-sized publishers. (2) The new pack gets pulled too, meaning Google is cleaning up these account-swap packs and the window for the small short-drama playbook is closing. (3) Someone builds a short-drama app with local faces in Nigeria or India and reaches the top 20 of their country's entertainment chart within a month. That gap is real, so move fast.

Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ReelShort | Android | 2022-08 | 307M installs, +7M in 5.51 days (googleplay library) | Leader with its own original shows and a strong IAP paywall; Dramini has a small library and uses a light points-plus-ads monetization model. |
| DramaBox | Android | 2023-04 | 307M installs, +2.92M in 7 days | Huge licensed library and large-scale paid acquisition; Dramini has only about 80 shows. |

Where users come from

- Inferred **Paid acquisition (PvX acquisition financing)** : Tevo 2026-09-08 received $10M in non-dilutive acquisition financing from PvX to scale marketing on an already-verified user base (DealStreetAsia). Installs rise in steps, it launches in 12 countries at once, and chart positions don't match install volume. Our ad library didn't track it (it isn't on our list).

- **Confirmed** **Account revival / small-account matrix** : the old pack com.dramini.shortdrama.streaming.movies (published by Vitality AI, about 2.6M installs) was pulled from Google Play in October 2026 (AppBrain, Play 404). The new pack 2026-10-09 was published by Hand of Midas Lab, with developer site hand-of-midas.tevo.app. Tevo has at least 8 developer accounts (googleplay library, developer_domain=*.tevo.app).

- **Confirmed** **Carrier partnership and PR** : 2025-09 signed with MobiFone Global for a joint global launch of Dramini (openPR, MobiFone Global's Facebook, baophapluat).

- **Confirmed** **'Watch to earn' word-of-mouth / YouTube** : YouTube has videos asking whether Dramini pays out or whether withdrawals work, in the hundreds-of-views range.

- Inferred **In-app rating prompts** : the rating histogram of 1★ 13/2★ 26/3★ 0/4★ 0/5★ 120,3★ and 4★ is 0, which looks unnatural.

## Why Dramini: Short Drama Reels (com.dramovie.short.drama.reel.movies.streaming) is getting traction

> Research date 2026-11-06. Channel: Google Play. Data from our googleplay library (app / app_snap / app_day_ext / chart_rank) and the web pages listed below.

### Bottom line

This isn't a new product. It's the short-drama app Dramini from Vietnamese app factory **Tevo** , relaunched under a new developer account (Hand of Midas Lab) and a new package name after the original listing was pulled. The original `com.dramini.shortdrama.streaming.movies` was published under the Vitality AI account. It reached about 2.6M installs in three months, then disappeared from Google Play in October 2026. The new listing went up in October 9, and paid acquisition (Tevo had just received $10M in acquisition financing from PvX in September) pushed it back to 138k a week within a week. So its growth comes from a proven product, acquisition money, and a revived account. The product itself has no differentiation.

### 1. What it is

- A vertical short-drama app. The store listing says '80 exclusive short dramas, 7000+ episodes,' with Western, Chinese, and Vietnamese content, and claims HD playback. It has an 'Earn & Watch' points system (watch ads and check in daily to earn points that unlock episodes), plus ads and in-app purchases in the $4.49–$39.99 range (googleplay library, app_snap).

- Developer 'Hand of Midas Lab', contact email candy.lamborghini@gmail.com, privacy policy hosted on sites.google.com, developer site hand-of-midas.tevo.app (which only shows 'Coming Soon'). It has been on v1.0.1 since 2026-10-20 with no updates (googleplay library: app, app_snap).

### 2. Who's behind it: Tevo's account matrix

- In the googleplay library, at least 13 apps have developer_domain under `*.tevo.app`, spread across 8 developer accounts: DN Solutions (spirit.tevo.app; Live Earth Map 15.8M installs, Natal Chart 4.04M, TrustDial 3.88M, ZonaMatch), Invoker Apps (ID Caller 11.8M), Vitality AI (Vibra Live, Shield Browser), Falcons Mobile App, Chrono Mobile, Aegis Digital, THK Global Limited, and Hand of Midas Lab (this app). Each account uses a different gmail contact, and privacy policies sit on Google Sites. This is a typical utility-app factory that spreads ban risk across a matrix of small accounts.

- The product page on tevo.app's official site lists Dramini in its product line, and the homepage says '200M+ Global Users' (https://tevo.app/products, [tevo.app/](https://tevo.app/)).

- Dramini has its own site, dramini.tevo.app, and its download links still point to the old package `com.dramini.shortdrama.streaming.movies` and iOS id6749300663. The old package is now 404 on Play. On iOS, an iTunes lookup returned nothing for the us, vn, gb, and ph storefronts, so it may also be delisted (unverified).

- In 2025 September, Tevo signed a strategic partnership with MobiFone Global, a subsidiary of MobiFone, Vietnam's third-largest carrier. The first jointly launched product was Dramini, promoted as 'Vietnam's first short-drama app for the world' (openPR 2025-09-12; MobiFone Global's Facebook post; baophapluat.vn).

- In 2026-09-08, Tevo received $10M in **non-dilutive acquisition financing** from Singapore's PvX Partners. Repayment is tied to revenue from acquired users, and the money is earmarked for 'scaling marketing on user groups already verified as profitable' (DealStreetAsia, e27, KrASIA, Entrepreneur APAC 2026-09).

### 3. Dramini's past: the old pack pulled, the new pack revived

| Bundle ID | Developer account | Timeline | Scale | Landscape |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| com.dramini.shortdrama.streaming.movies | Vitality AI | Listed on 2026-06/07, last version 1.0.6 (2026-09-17) | AppBrain: about 2.6M installs, 15,771 ratings; apppage.net: 1M+, 4.5 rating, 15.6K reviews; AppGoblin's early estimate of monthly revenue was $10K+, with IAP at 78% and ads at 22%. | AppBrain: 'No longer on Google Play,' listed for 3 months, until October 2026; Play page 404. |
| com.dramini.movies.shortdramas.streaming | Vitality AI | Unknown | Exa summary: 1M+, 4.16K reviews. | Play page 404. |
| **com.dramovie.short.drama.reel.movies.streaming (this app)** | **Hand of Midas Lab (new account)** | **2026-10-09** | 138k (11-06) | Listed |

Sources: appbrain.com, apppage.net, appgoblin.info, apkbog.com (summaries pulled via Exa), plus a live check of the Play page. The reason the old package was pulled wasn't found. It could be content copyright, misleading "watch dramas and earn" rewards promotion, or account linkage; none of this is **verified** . The new package uses a new developer account, the package name changed from dramini to dramovie, and the store copy was rewritten to a more neutral "Discover entertaining short stories", dropping "80 exclusive titles" and "Earn & Watch". This looks a lot like delisting, removing the violating points, changing accounts, and relisting.

### 4. Growth data

- Cumulative daily installs on the googleplay library: 10-29 6,056 → 10-31 22,992 → 11-02 89,880 → 11-05 111,788 → 11-06 137,710. 7-day increment 131,654.

- AppstoreSpy estimate (app_day_ext): for the first two weeks after launch it was only about 300 installs a day; then on 10-26 it suddenly jumped +3,282,10-30 and went to 8k–32k a day (peak 11-03, about 31,740/day). This step-like scale-up is the signature of a paid budget, not an organic growth curve.

- Charts: it only ever charted in the **Entertainment Free category chart** , never the overall or Top Grossing charts. Best rank was Entertainment #39 in Nigeria (11-02), the rest in the UAE #55, Canada #68, and the US #109–179. Country coverage grew from 10-29 with 5 to 12 (ng ca au us za fr ph ar mx es ae in sa). Installs of 2–30k a day only bought these chart positions, and it charted in the US, Canada, Australia, France and in low-price markets like Nigeria, the Philippines and India at the same time. That fits a country-by-country spread of paid acquisition, not search or word of mouth.

- Ratings: 161 reviews, 4.17 stars. The histogram is [1★13, 2★26, 3★0, 4★0, 5★120], with 3-star and 4-star both at 0, which is unnatural. It looks like an in-app rating prompt only steered satisfied users to 5 stars, with the rest being real complaints. If it were fake ratings, they usually wouldn't leave 2 stars at this level (speculation, unverified). Negative reviews rise after 11-04 (2-star went from 9 to 26), and the overall score dropped from 4.67 to 4.17.

- Our library has no review samples for it, because it never made the overall top 30.

### 5. Growth tactics (evidence)

1. **Paid acquisition** (strong inference): Tevo September got a PvX 10M USD acquisition financing, with terms stating it would be used to "scale marketing to a validated user base"; the install curve is step-like; it spread into 12 countries at once; and chart positions don't match install volume. Our Meta / TikTok (Europe) / Google ad libraries didn't track it, because it isn't on the tracking list, so not finding it doesn't mean it didn't advertise. The specific channels (Meta, Google UAC, TikTok, Mintegral, AppLovin, etc.) are **unverified** .

2. **Revived disguised account** (confirmed): after the old package was pulled, the account and package name were changed and it was relisted. The original brand, content library and monetization model were carried over directly, and PvX's investment logic was to scale something that had already proven product-market fit.

3. **Carrier backing and PR** (confirmed, but small contribution to installs): MobiFone Global co-published it, with a press release and Vietnamese local media coverage. Vietnam is not among the countries where the new package charted, so this relationship had limited effect on overseas growth.

4. **"Watch dramas, earn money" word of mouth** (partly confirmed): there are a few YouTube videos asking "can you make money with Dramini / Real or Fake withdrawals" (webvator, 289 views; another, ouNnVrR4-Sk). This shows users spreading it as a rewards app, but the volume is very small. One video's description quotes the official disclaimer: "Dramini is a short-drama streaming app designed for entertainment, NOT a paying job".

5. Searching TikTok for "Dramini" turns up nothing relevant, 0 posts in the X corpus, and nothing on Reddit or HN. Almost no traces of creator or content marketing.

### 6. Competitors

Short drama is one of the most crowded categories. The leaders (googleplay library, cumulative installs / 7-day new installs):

- ReelShort (NewLeaf / China Literature, 2022) 307M / +5.51M; DramaBox (Dianzhong, 2023) 307M / +2.92M; FreeReels and DramaWave (Kunlun Skywork, 2024) at 246M and 152M respectively; NetShort 162M; Melolo (ByteDance-linked POLIGON) 147M; ShortMax 131M; GoodShort 99M; TikTok's own PineDrama (2025-12) 84M / +3.01M.

- The "watch and earn" group: Coin Drama 17.9M, FreeDrama (Kuku) 42.6M, MixReels, Halo Reels, and others.

- Same-period, same-model "small account new packages": in the googleplay library, entertainment apps launched after 2026-08 with drama/reel in the title number **169** , totaling about 12.7M new installs over 7 days; 131 of them use gmail as the contact email and 57 host their privacy policy on Google Sites. In the same period, more than a dozen others had higher 7-day new installs, including Drama World Pro (+690k), ShortNext (+370k), Dramaly (+330k), Dramix (+250k), DramasHub (+210k).

In this pool Dramini is mid-to-lower tier. Versus the leaders: the leaders have large self-produced or exclusive libraries, strong IAP paywalls and huge paid acquisition budgets; it has only about 80 titles and monetizes with "points + ads + small IAP", relying on an app factory's acquisition ability and financing. Compared with the same-period small short-drama packages, what sets it apart is a scaled publisher behind it (Tevo, 40–60 apps, claiming nearly 200M installs), an acquisition financing round, carrier partnerships, and a brand that has already reached 2.6M installs once.

### 7. Why it took off

- **Money** : PvX's 10M USD acquisition financing arrived in September, and the new package began scaling in late October, which lines up in time.

- **Validated model** : the old package reached 2.6M installs in three months, 15k reviews at 4.4 stars, and third-party early estimates put monthly revenue at $10K+. After being pulled, it was revived by changing accounts, and the known ROI was used to buy users.

- **Factory capability** : Tevo has 8+ developer accounts, a uniform Google Sites privacy-page template and the tevo.app subdomain, and is used to running small-account matrices, so launching and switching accounts costs very little.

- **Category tailwind** : short drama is a hot category on Google Play, Play editorial has a "one-minute dramas" feature, and users' demand has already been educated by the leaders, so bought users don't need the product explained.

### 8. Differentiation

At the product level there is basically no differentiation. The library is small, and features match the leaders (vertical screens, episodes, points / coin unlocks). The only distinct point is the light-paywall "Earn & Watch" points-plus-ads model, but many apps in the "watch and earn" group work this way too. **Differentiation is not why it worked** ; the real reason is distribution capacity: capital, an account matrix, and an ROI that has already been validated.

### 9. Visibility and copycats

- Few people know about the package itself: 0 posts on X, no TikTok content, only scattered YouTube "can you make money" videos. Tevo's financing was covered by DealStreetAsia, e27, KrASIA and Entrepreneur APAC, but Dramini gets one line in those reports and no revenue data is public.

- Followers: calling it copying would be a stretch, since the whole category is being copied in bulk. 169 similar small-account packages from the same period already crowd the space.

### 10. Takeaways

- "Non-dilutive acquisition financing (like PvX's) + a validated cohort ROI" lets small and mid-sized app factories scale a proven category quickly.

- The post-delisting revival playbook: new account, new package name, toned-down copy, same brand name, and a quick return to a paid-acquisition cadence.

- Pick the category: go for a big category where the leaders have already educated demand (short drama), and use low-cost content plus mixed monetization (ads + small IAP + points) to capture the long-tail traffic.

### 11. Uncertain

- The exact reason the old package was pulled.

- Specific acquisition channels and unit costs, and payback period; actual revenue (the new package never charted in Top Grossing).

- Source of the library's licensing (whether "80 exclusive titles" is true).

- Whether the 3-star and 4-star reviews, at 0, come from rating prompts or something else.

- Whether the iOS id6749300663 has been delisted (lookup returned empty, unverified).
