# 20K installs put it at #68 on the US Top Grossing chart: Avenora is a paid chat shell in a reskinned app matrix

**What it is** : a chat app that looks like a dating app but charges per message. The $20 weekly subscription is just the entry ticket; the "women" on the other end keep pushing you to unlock private photos and videos and to send gifts, and expired videos cost another $7 to unlock.

**Why it took off** : the money comes from a small number of heavy spenders, not from user count. After launch, a concentrated paid-acquisition push in the first month drove installs past 10K; afterward, the existing paying base held its ranking, and the developer reused the same backend to launch several clone apps to spread the risk.

**D** **How you could approach it** : don't copy its fake-profile supply; copy the monetization design. If you have real creators, live chat companions, or one-on-one services, you could borrow the "low-price entry + time-limited, per-message unlocks + gifts" model, and the approach of targeting only the US and pricing for heavy-user value.

D grade: of the new small-install clones that charted this year in the top 200 of the US Play SOCIAL Top Grossing chart, 28 are the same product; Avenora itself is a copied template. Its earnings rely on a ready-made backend, a chat-operator team, and paid-acquisition capability, and it sits near the edge of Play's deceptive-behavior policy. Followers get the risk without the first two advantages. Few people know about it yet

Avenora is a "social discovery" app that hit Google Play in Aug 5. It has only 21.6k installs, 40 ratings and a 2.05-star average, yet it sits at #68 on the US store's SOCIAL Top Grossing chart (Google Play, 11-06). Its money doesn't come from lots of people. It comes from a handful of American men. The same developer account has already shipped six or seven apps like this one, all from the same template this year. Below: how it charges, where its users come from, and whether you should touch this business.

### Chatted for three weeks, sent a gift, got ghosted

Sep 4 2026: a user named Adam Brissenden left a one-star review on Avenora's store page: "Talked to a girl for 3 weeks, finally ready to meet, I just sent her a digital gift and she blocked me... The chat felt real, but 100% of it was fake." 9 people found this review helpful, making it the most upvoted review on the app.

A week later, on Sep 12, joshua modglin gave two stars with something closer to an invoice. The subscription includes 1 video unlocks, 3 flash chats and unlimited messaging. Video unlocks expire, and watching again costs $7. The "ladies" keep pushing you to unlock their videos. His math: "If I unlocked every video, I'd have spent $1,200 in 8 hours on day one." His last line: "They seem to get a commission from what you spend."

The earliest one is from Lee Gregory, Aug 10. Some profiles are AI or fake accounts, and some "girls" push private photos and videos right away. Only paying members can filter by age and intent, not by location. "Auto-renews at $20 a week, private photos and videos extra... like all the others, it sucks money and battery."

These three reviews pretty much sum up what Avenora is.

### What it is: a dating-app facade with pay-per-message chat

The store page follows a standard template: Discover New People, Match with Confidence, Rich Messaging, See who has viewed your profile. The screenshots show female profile photos, and the rating is Mature 17+ (Play store page, 11-06). The privacy policy and terms sit under kismetweb.com/avenora/.

Piecing together the reviews, the actual pricing structure looks like this:

- **Entry fee** : a weekly subscription of about $20, auto-renewing;

- **Main course** : private photos and videos unlocked one at a time; videos expire, and watching again costs another $7;

- **Dessert** : digital gifts;

- The in-app purchase range listed on the store is $2.99–$199.99 (Google Play).

Whether the "women" are AI, paid real-person chat operators, or a mix, you can't see from outside. But "pushes unlocks right away," "feels like a commission," and "nobody ever meets" are the classic signs of pay-to-chat (inferred). This isn't a dating product. It's a funnel that walks users from subscription down to single unlocks and gifts.

### Why 20k installs ranks #68

The install curve tells the story (third-party estimates from AppstoreSpy):

| Date | Cumulative installs |
|---|---|
| 08-15 | 1,112 |
| 08-17 | 3,713 (2,384 in a single day) |
| 08-27 | 9,903 |
| 09-03 | 12,250 |
| 10-01 | 16,584 |
| 11-06 | 21,618(Google Play) |

From day 10 to day 30 after launch, daily installs jumped from a few hundred to over two thousand, then fell back. From mid-September they dropped to a hundred or two a day. October added only about 4,500 for the whole month. In November's last week it added 846, in bursts like 10-31 +265 and 11-03 +451, with 0 in between. That spike-then-decay shape looks like concentrated paid acquisition at launch, not organic word of mouth (inferred).

The rank is slipping too: from #10-29 to #58,11-06 to #68 on the US SOCIAL Top Grossing chart. It only charts in the US and has no iOS version.

Third-party estimator AppGazers puts its October revenue at $31k–$149k, but the same site estimates October downloads at 6,300–18,900, about 4,500 too high, so the revenue estimate is probably high too. What's certain: at 20k installs it holds steady in the US store's top grossing chart, #70 or better, and monthly revenue is at least in the tens of thousands of dollars (estimated). Most people install and leave, and a small number of whales spending a few dozen to a few hundred dollars a week is enough.

### It's not one app. It's a matrix.

The developer is MENTINLISHA, registered with a personal gmail, with the website kismetweb.com. Their package names share the prefix com.dumimosa.*. This year they shipped AroundU (March), LoveNest (April), CloseUp (May), Kismet and HotDate, and Avenora came in August. Each one's privacy page sits under kismetweb.com/<app name>/ (AppBrain, Play developer page). AppBrain shows the developer active since December 2025, with an average rating of 1.71 across the portfolio. AroundU already has 112k installs but ranks below Avenora (#79).

The playbook is clear: shared backend, shared chat staff, shared pricing. If one shell gets buried by bad reviews or pulled from the store, relaunch under a new name with new screenshots. Several shells compete for "dating / chat" store visibility and ad spend at once. Each extra shell costs very little.

As for where users come from, here's all that's visible:

- **Concentrated paid acquisition at launch (inferred, high confidence)** : the curve is the evidence. Whether it runs on Google, Meta or other ad networks isn't visible. Searching the package name and kismetweb.com in the Meta Ad Library turns up nothing, but that doesn't mean they didn't spend.

- **Store search** : the description is stuffed with generic terms like meet new people, match and private conversation, but with only 40 ratings, organic search probably contributes little (inferred).

- **Content and word of mouth: none.** 90 posts on X in 0 days, and nothing on TikTok, Reddit or in media. The only pages online are auto-generated ones like AppBrain and AppGazers.

- **No fake reviews either.** With 40 ratings at 2.05 stars, it isn't relying on store conversion. It relies on direct ad traffic feeding a paid funnel.

### Who it's competing with

Plenty. In the top 200 of the US Play SOCIAL Top Grossing chart, 2026 apps launched within the past 300 years with under 28k installs, and 10 of them are in the top 100 (Google Play, 11-06). The closest matches:

| Product | Launched | Scale (Google Play, 11-06) | How it differs from Avenora |
|---|---|---|---|
| NightSpark – Local Dating & Chat | 2026-09 | 63k installs, 3,818 ratings, Top Grossing #14 | Same model, heavier spend, 95× the ratings (looks like nudged five-star reviews) |
| Muah: Flirt, Chat & Connect | 2026-05 | 86k installs, #43 | Singapore company entity, 4× the installs |
| Kizme – Meet, Chat & Date | 2026-07 | 53k installs, 2,824 ratings, #44 | Same period, same playbook, bigger volume |
| AfterDark – Meet & Connect | 2026-10 | 14k installs, 25 ratings, #78 | The closest match on "small install base, high revenue." Launched two months later and hit #78 within a month |
| Bonbo / Seylo / PeekMeet / Nayvi / DateGlow / Winkr | 2026-07~09 | 0.5–44k installs, #80–#114 | Different skins of the same template |
| Hugi / HapEnd / HiZone / Joymeet / Tagged | 2010–2023 | Millions to tens of millions of installs, #17–#66 | Veterans with a real user base or live streaming |
| Joi / Chamet / Olive | 2019–2023 | Millions+ installs, #7–#71 | Sells one-on-one video minutes, heavier model |

In features, copy and pricing structure, Avenora and these apps are nearly identical. No one is copying Avenora. It's just another copy of the same template. Its only real difference is operations: more restrained ad spend, and harsher single-unlock pricing (videos expire, so you pay again).

### The risks are on the surface

The reviews are full of scam, bots, AI and fake profiles. Using fake profiles or impersonating real people to drive payments runs into Google Play's deceptive behavior policies, plus refunds, card chargebacks and consumer complaints. The usual ending for apps like this is the one MENTINLISHA is demonstrating: make money for a while, get caught by bad reviews, relaunch under a new name (inferred).

### If it were you

**The verdict:** This business does make money, but it's a grey category that's already crowded. Avenora earns because of an off-the-shelf backend, a chat-staff operation and paid-acquisition know-how, all while standing right at the edge of platform policy. If you copy it, the risk comes first.

**Who it fits:** teams already running overseas social, video chat or livestreaming, with their own host/chat-staff supply, risk-control and payments experience, and the stamina to handle account bans. For them, the pricing stack is worth studying: a subscription as the entry fee, plus expiring single-unlock content and gifts, run through concentrated single-country spend and a shared backend across several skins.

**Who it doesn't fit:** indie devs and small teams. Without real-person supply, users pay once and leave. With fake profiles, you're betting on Play policy and chargebacks. The chart already has 28 new faces, and you'd be number 29.

**How to do it:** Don't copy the supply side. Copy the monetization design.

- If you're building real paid content or one-on-one services (creator DMs, real-person companionship, language practice, consulting), the structure of a low-cost entry, pay-per-unlock and time-limited content can be borrowed directly.

- The idea of "few installs, high ARPU, US-only spend" also applies to legitimate products: first work out how much your small group of heavy users will pay, then decide how much to spend acquiring users.

**How to acquire users:** The legitimate version relies on creators or service providers bringing their own audience, plus Google App Campaign and Meta targeting in the US. Word-of-mouth channels are hard to start for this kind of product, so budget for a concentrated push in the first month after launch.

**Is there a window:** No, this isn't a window-type opportunity. The category has been around all along, and new skins chart every month. It's crowded whenever you enter.

**What would prove this read wrong:** If Avenora's ratings climb over the next month or two, one-star reviews shrink, and its rank holds or rises, that would mean real retention among its users, not just one round of paid acquisition and whale spend. Conversely, if it drops off the charts or gets pulled after the bad reviews pile up, and a new name appears under kismetweb.com, that confirms this is a reskin business, as argued here.

Where users come from

- Inferred **Paid acquisition push right after launch** : AppstoreSpy estimates 08-15 1,112 → 08-17 3,713 → 08-27 9,903, then decay to 100–250 per day. Meta ad library lookup by package name/kismetweb.com returns nothing; Google/TikTok ad libraries not tracked

- **Confirmed** **Multi-skin matrix (com.dumimosa.* prefix, shared kismetweb.com)** : AroundU, LoveNest, CloseUp, Kismet, HotDate and Avenora all come from the same developer account. AppBrain counts 6–7 apps, AppGazers counts 8

- Inferred **Store search (generic dating keywords)** : the description stuffs in generic terms like meet/match/private chat. Installs and ratings are both low, so reach is limited

- Inferred **Content/influencers/community** : 90 posts on X in 0 days; no relevant content on TikTok, Reddit or in the media

### Bottom line

Avenora isn't a story of a product that took off on its own. It's a **pay-to-chat shell inside a reskin matrix** . After launch, a concentrated paid push took installs to about 10k within 25–10 days. After that, a high-ticket mix of weekly subscriptions, per-item photo/video unlocks and gifts squeezed enough revenue out of a small base of US male users to chart #58–#68 on the US SOCIAL Top Grossing list. It is essentially the same as at least twenty-odd similar apps launched in 2026 that are on the same chart. The only differences are accounts, names and skins.

### What it is

- The store description is the standard "social discovery / matching / private chat" template (Discover / Match / Rich Messaging / Who viewed you). The screenshots show female profile pictures, and the rating is Mature 17+ (Play store page, 2026-11-06).

- Actual monetization (from store reviews, Play page / AppBrain transcripts):
    - Weekly subscription of about **$20/week** that auto-renews. Age and intent filters are paywalled, and **there is no filter by region** (Lee Gregory, 2026-08-10,2★).
    - The subscription includes "1 video unlocks, 3 flash chats, unlimited chat". Private photos/videos cost extra, and **video unlocks expire, so re-unlocking costs $7** . One reviewer calculated that "unlocking everything within 8 hours costs $1,200" and suspected "the other person is taking a cut of what I spend" (joshua modglin, 2026-09-12,2★).
    - "Chatted for 3 weeks, sent digital gifts, then got blocked the moment I suggested meeting" (Adam Brissenden, 2026-09-04,1★, 8 people found it helpful). "OF / TikTok / X photos stolen + AI chatbots" (Ry McBroom, 2026-09-15,1★). "Yet another coin-based chat that makes you pay mid-conversation, and nobody ever meets up" (J H, 2026-09-30,1★).

- IAP range $2.99–$199.99 per item (data card). 2.05,40 ratings, with 1★ making up the majority (AppBrain histogram).

- Verdict: this is a common pattern in the industry, a "host/operator + fake AI profile" paid chat. The other side is run by the operator or by chat workers who take a commission. The goal is to push users from subscriptions to single unlocks and gifts. Reviews saying "they push private videos right away" or "it feels like they're on commission" are typical fingerprints of this model (inferred; internal operator structure not verified).

### Data: how far it went

| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Total installs | 21,618(11-06) | Google Play library app_profile |
| New in the last 7 days | 846 (about 120/day) | googleplay library |
| Score | 40 (10-29 at 36) | googleplay library app_day |
| US SOCIAL Top Grossing chart | 10-29 #58 → 11-06 #68, slowly declining. 10-29~11-02 it also charted in Singapore #186–199 and Hong Kong #165 | googleplay library chart_rank |
| Countries covered | Charted only in the US store (n_countries_now=1) | Data card |
| AppGazers October revenue estimate | $31.2K–$149.3K (80% range), downloads est. 6.3K–18.9K | appgazers.com/reports/apps/android-com.dumimosa.avenora |

**Install curve (AppstoreSpy estimate, googleplay library app_day_ext)** :

- 08-15 1,112 → 08-17 3,713 (single day +2,384) → 08-19 6,164 → 08-27 9,903 → 09-03 12,250. **Days 10–30 after launch saw 300–2,400 new installs per day, a concentrated burst** .

- From mid-September it fell back to 100–250 per day. October averaged about 150 per day (10-01 16,584 → 10-30 21,037, roughly 4.5K for the month).

- November, our own sampling captured 10-31 +265 and 11-03 +451; on the other days it was almost 0. Small, intermittent spend or organic traffic.

- For comparison: AppGazers' October download estimate (6.3K–18.9K) is well above the actual figure (about 4.5K), so its revenue estimate may be inflated too. But holding a steady top-70 spot on the US SOCIAL Top Grossing chart by itself shows monthly revenue is at least in the tens of thousands of dollars.

**What it means** : roughly 20k installs, US-only, able to reach around #60 on the Top Grossing chart. That points to extremely high ARPU, which is the hallmark of pay-to-chat. Most people install and leave, while a small number of "whales" spend tens to hundreds of dollars a week.

### Competitors: who else is doing this

"Looks like a dating app, actually pay-per-message chat" is a **crowded niche** on the US Play SOCIAL Top Grossing chart. In the top 200 of the US SOCIAL Top Grossing list in the googleplay library 11-06, **28 apps launched in 2026 with under 300k installs** , and 10 of them ranked in the top 100. The closest ones:

| Product | Launched | Scale (googleplay library, 11-06) | Top chart rank | How it differs from Avenora |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NightSpark – Local Dating & Chat(StandardStream LLC) | 2026-09-03 | 63k installs, 3,818 rating | #14 | Same model but far larger in scale. Reached #14 within 2 months of launch, with 95× Avenora's rating count (likely incentivized reviews) |
| Muah: Flirt, Chat & Connect(WISERING PTE. LTD.) | 2026-05-18 | 86k installs | #43 | Singapore company entity, 4× the installs |
| Kizme – Meet, Chat & Date(BlueAtlas Tech LLC) | 2026-07-06 | 53k installs, 2,824 rating | #44 | Launched in the same period, with more installs and ratings |
| AfterDark – Meet & Connect(DEVVVS 0088) | 2026-10-05 | 14k installs, 25 rating | #78 | The closest match to Avenora's "small install base, high revenue" playbook. Launched two months later and reached #78 within a month |
| Bonbo / Seylo / PeekMeet / Nayvi / DateGlow / Winkr / Dote | 2026-07~09 | 0.5–44k installs | #80–#114 | Different skins of the same template, with ratings typically in the hundreds to over a thousand |
| AroundU (same developer, MENTINLISHA) | 2026-03-05 | 112k installs, 314 rating | #79 | Earlier skin from the same developer: 5× the installs, but charting below Avenora |
| Veterans: Hugi, HapEnd, HiZone, Pario, Joymeet, Tagged, Waplog | 2010–2023 | Millions to tens of millions of installs | #17–#66 | Mature players in the same category with real user pools and live streaming. Avenora is just chasing that pool for paying users |
| Video chat: Joi, Chamet, Olive, the Honeycam family | 2019–2023 | Over a million installs | #7–#71 | Sells one-on-one video minutes, while Avenora sells photo/video unlocks, which is lighter |
| Big players: Tinder / Bumble / Hinge | — | Top players | — | Real matching plus subscriptions. Avenora doesn't rely on real matching |

iOS: neither the appstore library nor iTunes search shows an iOS version of Avenora or MENTINLISHA (the same-named AroundU is a different developer). Play only.

### Growth: where users come from

1. **Concentrated paid acquisition at launch (inferred, high confidence)** : daily installs jumped from a few hundred to 2,384 between 08-15 and 08-27, then fell back. Decay started in September. This "spike then drop" curve is the typical shape of paid push, not word-of-mouth spread. Ad platform unknown: the Meta ad library returns nothing when searched by package name or landing domain kismetweb.com. It isn't on the adwatch list, so Google/TikTok ad libraries aren't tracked either (no results doesn't mean no spend).

2. **Reskinning the matrix to spread ban risk** : the same developer account MENTINLISHA shipped AroundU (2026-03), LoveNest (2026-04), CloseUp (2026-05), Kismet, HotDate and Avenora (2026-08) under the com.dumimosa.* prefix, and the store links 11-06 still open. The website and privacy pages are all hosted at kismetweb.com/<app name>/ (AppBrain, Play page). AppBrain shows the developer became active in 2025-12, with 6–7 apps and an average rating of 1.71. AppGazers counts 8 apps and estimates $68K–$350K for October combined. The playbook: when one shell gets killed by bad reviews or pulled from the store, relaunch under a new name with a new set of screenshots, while several shells pull "dating / chat" store exposure and ads at once.

3. **Store search** : the description stuffs in generic phrases like meet new people, match and private conversation. With 20k installs and 40 ratings, organic store search probably contributes limited traffic (inferred).

4. **No content or word-of-mouth channels** : 0 posts on X (x-radar, 90 days). TikTok search turns up no relevant videos. No coverage on Reddit or in the media. The only results online are auto-generated aggregator pages such as AppBrain, CNET Download, Similarweb and AppGazers.

5. **No fake reviews** : 40 ratings at 2.05 stars. Next to NightSpark (3,818) and Seylo (1,590/24k installs), Avenora clearly isn't running review-prompt campaigns. It doesn't rely on store conversion; it relies on direct paid traffic and a paid funnel.

### Why it broke out

- **The money comes from the funnel, not user count** : the $20 weekly subscription is just the entry ticket. The real revenue is in per-item charges like "unlock again after expiry for $7" and gifts. The account is designed to push unlocks (per the reviews). A handful of users can spend hundreds of dollars a day, which is enough for 20k installs to land #60 on the US Top Grossing chart.

- **US Android men only** : the US store has the highest ARPU, and Play's payment requirements are looser than iOS review. Spending on one country focuses the budget on the highest-ARPU audience.

- **One-time launch push** : a volume spike in mid-to-late August built the first pool of paying users. After that it didn't need many new installs to hold its rank, living off the whale base. The slow slide from #58 to #68 also shows it's decaying.

- **Matrix cloning** : the product, backend, and chat-agent team are shared, so each extra shell costs very little. If AroundU makes money, copy it again as Avenora.

### Differentiation

**Essentially none.** Compared with same-period clones like NightSpark, Kizme, AfterDark, and Bonbo, Avenora is nearly identical in features, copy, and pricing structure. Against its own AroundU, it's just a new name and skin. Its "difference" is operational only: lighter paid acquisition (far fewer installs than peers yet no worse ranking) and more aggressive per-unlock pricing (videos expire and must be paid for again). This operational tuning is why it gets higher ARPU, but it isn't product differentiation. It works because the category itself monetizes well and the matrix playbook scales, not because it's different.

### Visibility and copycats

- **Almost nobody knows about it yet** : no TrustMRR listing, no founder posting revenue, no media or X accounts writing about it. Only estimator sites like AppGazers have an automated report page.

- But the **category is already crowded** : in the US SOCIAL Top Grossing top 200 alone there are 28 similar small-install apps that are 2026 years old, and AfterDark (launched October) is basically the newer version of the same playbook. Nobody is copying Avenora. Avenora is just another copy of this template.

### What others can borrow

- The "low installs × high ARPU" monetization structure: subscription as the entry ticket, per-item or time-limited unlocks, and gifts. Unlocks that expire are the key repeat-purchase mechanic.

- Concentrated paid acquisition in one country (the US), plus a matrix of multiple apps sharing a package-name prefix, with shared backend and ops teams. This lowers the risk of bans and bad reviews.

- But the core of this playbook is fake accounts and chat agents. The reviews are full of "scam / bots / AI." There's real Google Play removal risk under its deceptive-behavior policy, plus refund and chargeback risk. For a legitimate product, you can borrow the pricing and funnel design, but not the supply side.

### Unknowns

- Channels and spend: not found in our ad library. Whether August's spike came from Google App Campaigns, Meta, or another ad network is unverified.

- Whether the "other side" is AI, human chat agents, or a mix, and which country the ops team is in. The developer has no legal entity info and uses gmail. Similar apps tend to be run by overseas Chinese or Middle East/Southeast Asian teams, but this is unverified.
