Emoji Keyboard: Color Themes · Terapiando Foundation

# An emoji keyboard got 470k installs in two months: it wasn't the product, it was an app factory

**What it is** A free Android reskin keyboard selling color themes, glow effects, fancy fonts and emoji, earning from ads.

**Why it took off** A template factory behind it reuses the same template across dozens of developer accounts, runs paid acquisition, pushes installs into small-country "Personalization" charts, and recently shifted spend from Latin America to Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK, where ad rates are higher.

**C** **How you could play it** Don't build another reskin keyboard. Take its "cheap market to scale, then move to high-CPM markets" buying playbook and apply it to your own ad-monetized app. If you do build a keyboard, make typing itself good, or target small-language markets the big players ignore.

Grade C: no product differentiation. The top apps in the category have tens to hundreds of millions of installs, and a same-month launch in the category already has 12x its installs. Its real edge is the multi-account factory, which involves borrowed developer identities that break policy and are too costly for followers to copy. What's worth learning is the geo-targeted buying approach. Few people know about it yet

"Emoji Keyboard: Color Themes" on Google Play had almost no installs in early September. By Nov 6 it had 469k cumulative installs, and it added 134k in the last week alone. Its features are nearly identical to a dozen older keyboards with tens of millions of installs. It took off because of a template factory behind it that mass-reskins, uploads under multiple accounts, and tunes ad spend by country. Others can copy the playbook, but the category is already crowded, so a single keyboard isn't worth it.

### Signed by a counseling nonprofit, but the developer page lists a London ad agency

Open its store page on Google Play and the developer line reads "Terapiando Foundation". That name checks out: it's a nonprofit in Draper, Utah, which received 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in October 2025, providing mental health services to Latino families (ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer, the organization's website).

Scroll to the very bottom of the page, under "About the developer," and it names a different company: NOTORIOUS BRANDS SERVICES LIMITED, with an address in a flat in a London East End apartment block and a US phone number. UK Companies House records show the company was registered in Feb 2026 24, with its business listed as "advertising agency."

The same developer account also publishes an accounting app, origami, prank calls, tarot, and AI face-swap photo apps (Google Play developer page, 11-06). A counseling nonprofit wouldn't publish those. The likelier story: the "Terapiando Foundation" name is borrowed or misused, and the real entity is the London shell company (inference, not verified who is behind it).

### What it is

A third-party Android keyboard. The store page sells color themes, "RGB-style glow effects," fancy fonts and emoji. Completely free, ad-supported, no in-app purchases. Version 1.0.2, updated once in Oct 28.

The store page has one more giveaway: the developer website has a single privacy policy page that says "when you register for the Game" throughout, clearly copied from a game template.

Rated 4.7,2,100 across several reviews. The top reviews: "No autocorrect, typing is a bit awkward" (12,26 people found it helpful in Sep); "I love this app so much, I'll never delete it, my absolute favorite app" (Oct 16). Judging by spelling and tone, the user base includes many young people and kids (inference).

### How it grew

The store lists the launch date as Aug 16, but volume only picked up in early September. Install counts from 9 through October are AppstoreSpy third-party estimates; November is Google Play's public figure:

| Timeline | Total installs | Average daily installs for that period |
|---|---|---|
| Sep 9 | 19 | — |
| End of September | About 66k | About 2k |
| Oct 29 | 334k | About 8.6k |
| Nov 6 | 469k | About 19k |

The curve accelerated steadily, with no sudden spike. Occasional jumps of 4–60k on single days reflect Google Play refreshing its numbers only every few days, so several days of volume landed on one day. Rating count also grew steadily, adding 50–85 per day.

More telling is where it charts. In Oct 29, its best Google Play "Personalization" free-chart rankings were #11 in Argentina and #15 in Mexico, and #67 in the UK and #50 in the Netherlands. By Nov 6, the top three had become Sweden #10, UK #12 and Netherlands #12, and the US charted for the first time (#182). Over 9 days, the UK climbed from #67 to #12.

When an ad-only app shifts like this, it usually means ad budget is moving from cheap Latin American markets to higher-rate Northern and Western Europe: build installs and ratings in the cheap market first, then earn in the expensive one (inference; no spend data available).

### Where users come from

- **One template, many accounts.** Its website domain is emojikeyboard283by4.netlify.app, and the contact email is a random Gmail address. Searching Google Play for netlify domains with this "category + number + y + sequence" pattern turns up about 135 apps under 67 different developer names, roughly 140M cumulative installs (rough filter, may include a few unrelated apps). Keyboard, accounting, AI photo, tarot, PDF, IPTV and home-decor templates are each re-uploaded under several accounts. The same keyboard template has another version, "LED Keyboard - Glow Display" (domain ledkeyboard283by2, launched in May, 299k installs). The developer names include Vietnamese names, what look like randomly generated English names, and several borrowed-looking US and German organization names like this one.

- **Paid acquisition.** Among these apps, 25 groups run Meta ads with fake-person advertiser pages and random suffixes (e.g., "Caryl Simoneqbz", "Axtell Ohm Lindsay"), still active in early November (Meta Ad Library). I didn't find ads for this keyboard itself, but that doesn't prove it isn't advertising. Its steady upward installs look more like sustained spend than organic virality.

- **Category charts and store search.** Package name and title stuff in emoji, keyboard, themes, font and sticker. The Personalization chart has a low bar, so it made the charts in 25 countries and picked up some organic installs on top.

- **TikTok and X: nothing found.** Searches only turned up near-identical competitor accounts and third-party tutorials, nothing tied to this app's content.

- **The ratings look a little too good.** Of 2,000 ratings, there are no 1-star or 2-star reviews; comparable keyboards usually have around 10% 1-star. But Google Play's distribution charts are coarse for apps with few ratings, so treat this as a lead, not proof.

### Who it's competing with

Keyboard themes are among the most crowded categories in Google Play's Personalization section. By installs, it doesn't make the top ten (Google Play installs, 11-06):

| Product | Launched | Total installs | Last 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Facemoji AI Emoji Keyboard | 2016 | 247M | +250k |
| LED Keyboard: RGB Theme Effect(Zayzik) | 2019 | 95.7M | +52k |
| Neon LED Keyboard (Maxlabs, has IAP) | 2020 | 73.2M | +48k |
| Fonts Keyboard Themes & Emoji(Simple Design) | 2021 | 63.2M | +240k |
| Emoji Font Keyboard & Themes (BG.Studio, Vietnam) | 2024-12 | 24.4M | +200k |
| Keyboard Themes: Emoji Fonts(FunGear) | 2025-10 | 6.1M | +260k |
| My Keyboard: Themes & Fonts(Waleed Adel) | 2026-08 | 5.63M | +110k |
| Mechanical Keyboard: RGB Theme(Neli Creative) | 2026-04 | 3.77M | +300k |
| **Emoji Keyboard: Color Themes (this app)** | 2026-08 | 469k | +134k |
| Emoji Keyboard: Themes & Fonts(Shark Studio) | 2026-10 | 86k | +46k |

My Keyboard, launched the same month, already has 12x its installs; Shark Studio, launched two months later, has nearly the same name. Above that sit Gboard and Samsung Keyboard. System keyboards already support theme changes, and TikTok is full of tutorials on "Samsung Keyboard's built-in RGB effects" pulling demand away. iPhone limits third-party keyboards heavily, so glow-skin keyboards have essentially only an Android market.

### Where the money comes from

Ads only. A keyboard gets opened often, so it has room for app-open and interstitial placements. Its push into Northern and Western Europe also reflects choosing markets with higher ad rates. Whether ad revenue covers acquisition cost isn't visible from outside; no public figures.

### If it were you

**The verdict** : don't copy this as a keyboard. Insiders in this category arrive before the users do, and it took off because of the factory's distribution, not the product. What's worth learning is the playbook.

**Who it fits** : small teams already building ad-monetized utility apps, with paid acquisition experience and reusable code, who want to apply the "cheap market to scale, then move to high-CPM markets" move to their own product.

**Who it doesn't fit** : indie developers hoping to start from zero with a new keyboard. The top apps have tens to hundreds of millions of installs, and a same-month launch already has 12x its installs. Its core asset is dozens of developer accounts, partly built on borrowed or misused identities. That breaks Google Play policy, and once accounts are linked, all of them can be banned together. That part shouldn't be copied, and it isn't affordable anyway.

**How to do it** : if you must touch keyboards, don't compete on skins. Do what it and its peers do badly. Its most visible complaint is "no autocorrect"; reskin keyboards generally have poor typing. Build a keyboard where typing is genuinely good and the skins are secondary, or make a good-looking keyboard for a language the big keyboard makers ignore. The more general move is to carry its geo playbook to your own category: build installs and ratings first in cheap-ad markets like Latin America or Southeast Asia, then shift budget to Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK.

**How to get users** : Meta and Google app install ads, plus keyword-stuffed titles to push into small-country category charts. Categories like Personalization and Utilities have low thresholds in many countries; a few thousand installs can reach the top few dozen, and chart placement brings organic installs.

**How long you have** : the reskin keyboard business won't shut down overnight, but there's no real window either. It has always been crowded. What's actually time-limited is the borrowed-account route: once Google Play tightens developer identity verification, the multi-account volume playbook will be hit first.

**What would show this read is wrong** : ① Google Play installs keep rising by 100k+ a week into December and it breaks into the top ten of the UK and US Personalization charts, showing the factory playbook can hold in high-value markets, making it easier to copy than I assume. ② Conversely, if this developer account or sibling accounts using the same template are delisted within a month or two, the multi-account route has a short lifespan, and the cost of this playbook needs recalculating.

Where users come from

- **Confirmed** **multi-account matrix / template factory** : the developer site emojikeyboard283by4.netlify.app and a gmail address follow the same naming pattern; the database has 135 apps with this pattern, under 67 developer names, with about 142M installs in total; the same keyboard template also appears as ledkeyboard283by2 (LnuxInside)

- Inferred **Meta paid acquisition** : sibling apps from the same factory run fake-named Pages (Caryl Simoneqbz, Axtell Ohm Lindsay, etc.) and have 25 ad sets on Meta, 2026-11 still running. This app doesn't show up in metaads or googleads (the libraries' coverage doesn't include keyboard-type terms)

- **Verified** **category charts + store search (ASO)** : package name and title stuffed with keywords; ranking #9–12 on the personalized Top Free chart across 25 stores; installs accelerating steadily, with no single-spike burst

- Inferred **shifting spend toward higher-eCPM markets** : 10-29 ranks best in Argentina and Mexico; 11-06 moves to #10 in Sweden, and #12 in the Netherlands and the UK, with the US charting for the first time

- Inferred **incentivized or fake ratings** : of 2,118 ratings, 1 and 2 stars are both 0. But Play's histogram is coarse for small apps, so treat this as a lead, not proof.

- Inferred from **TikTok / X / creator content** : TikHub and x-radar found nothing that maps back to this app

## Why Emoji Keyboard: Color Themes (com.emojikeyboard.themes.font.sticker) is making it

> Channel: Google Play · Developer: Terapiando Foundation · Store launch 2026-08-16 · Research day 2026-11-06

### Bottom line

This isn't an app that succeeded on its own product. It's one of many products from a **template app factory** . The factory publishes the same templates (keyboards, PDF, tarot, AI photos, expense tracking, IPTV...) over and over, under many developer accounts (some use borrowed nonprofit names, some use random personal names). It drives installs with **paid acquisition + category charts / store search for organic traffic** , and **monetizes only through ads** (ads, no in-app purchases). Keyboard themes is a category on Play where a dozen-plus players with tens of millions of installs already exist, and this app has no functional differentiation. It gets traction because of the factory's distribution and ad-buying capacity, and because it recently shifted volume toward high-CPM ad markets (Sweden, the Netherlands, the UK).

### 1. Data: how big it is and how fast it's growing

| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Cumulative global installs | 468,612 (store tier shows 100K+) | googleplay library app_snap, 2026-11-06 |
| New in the last 7 days | +134,322 (about 19k per day on average) | Google Play library app_profile |
| Score | 1,569(10-29)→ 2,118(11-06), +52~85 a day | googleplay library app_day |
| Ratings / histogram | 4.78; 1–5 stars: [0, 0, 117, 235, 1765] | app_snap 11-06 |
| Monetization | Has ads (ad_supported=True), no in-app purchases (offers_iap=False) | app_snap; Play listing "Contains ads" |
| Version | 1.0.2,10-28 update | app_snap |
| Charted | Personalization free chart in 25 stores; best: #10 in Sweden, #12 in the UK and Netherlands, #15 in South Africa | chart_rank 11-06 |

**Install curve** (AppstoreSpy estimates; googleplay library app_day_ext; don't trust single-day numbers, look at the trend):

- 2026-09-09 only 19 installs. The store's listed launch date is 08-16, but volume really took off around early September.

- End of September about 66k (roughly 2k per day) → 10-29 about 334k (October average about 8.6k per day) → 11-06 about 469k (last 7 days average about 19k per day). It's **accelerating** .

- The single-day jumps of 3–60k (10-04, 10-30) come from Play refreshing maxInstalls only every few days, so several days of installs got counted on one day. It's not a real spike on a single day.

**Charting countries are shifting toward high-value markets** (chart_rank, personalization free chart):

- 10-29 Its best rankings were in Argentina (#11), Mexico (#15), Sweden (#19), Turkey (#30), Vietnam (#32); the UK #67, Netherlands #50.

- 11-06 The top three became Sweden (#10), the Netherlands (#12), the UK (#12); the US charted for the first time (#182).

- Over 9 days the UK rose from #67 to #12 and the Netherlands from #50 to #12. Ad-monetized apps often move budget toward Nordic and Western European markets with high eCPM, so this pattern is typical (inference; no ad spend data obtained).

### 2. Competitors: who else does the same thing

Keyboard themes / LED·RGB keyboard / font·emoji keyboard are among the most crowded categories in Play's Personalization section. The table below comes from the googleplay library app_profile (2026-11-06):

| Product | Where | Launched | Scale (total installs / last 7 days) | How it differs from this app |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Facemoji AI Emoji Keyboard(Nexileap) | Android | 2016 | 247M / +250k | Long-established full-featured keyboard with AI, stickers, multiple languages; this app is just skins and effects |
| LED Keyboard: RGB Theme Effect(Zayzik) | Android | 2019 | 95.7M / +52k | The original with the same "RGB glow keyboard" pitch; this app is a new wrapper |
| Neon LED Keyboard(Taka Group / Maxlabs) | Android | 2020 | 73.2M / +48k | Same pitch, with in-app purchases, has charted Top Grossing; this app has no IAP |
| Fonts Keyboard Themes & Emoji(Simple Design) | Android | 2021 | 63.2M / +240k | Focused on fonts; same category |
| Emoji Font Keyboard & Themes (BG.Studio, Vietnam) | Android | 2024-12 | 24.4M / +200k | Vietnamese developer in the same category, with an order-of-magnitude larger volume |
| Keyboard Themes: Emoji Fonts(FunGear) | Android | 2025-10 | 6.1M / +260k | Same category, reached 6M in one year |
| Mechanical Keyboard: RGB Theme(Neli Creative) | Android | 2026-04 | 3.77M / +300k | Same pitch, growing faster than it over the last 7 days; Neli also has Cute Keyboard (4.43M, #6 on the UK personalization chart) |
| My Keyboard: Themes & Fonts(Waleed Adel) | Android | 2026-08 | 5.63M / +110k | Launched around the same time with 12 times its volume; also a Netlify site plus a personal account |
| LED Keyboard: RGB Themes(highsecure) | Android | 2024-12 | 5.84M / +66k | Same pitch |
| Emoji Keyboard: Themes & Fonts(Shark Studio) | Android | 2026-10 | 86k / +46k | Nearly identical name, launched later, has an official TikTok account (@emojikeyboard_themes, 27 followers) |
| **LED Keyboard - Glow Display(LnuxInside)** | Android | 2026-05 | 299k | **Same template from the same factory** : site ledkeyboard283by2.netlify.app; this app is emojikeyboard283by4 |
| Gboard / Samsung Keyboard + Good Lock "Keys Cafe" / SwiftKey | Big-company features | — | Gboard 13.9B | System keyboards already let you change themes; many TikTok tutorials on "Samsung keyboard has built-in RGB effects" are siphoning off this demand |
| iOS | — | — | — | iOS third-party keyboard permissions are restricted, so these "glowing skin keyboards" are mainly an Android phenomenon |

Bottom line: **lots of competitors, large scale, already established** . By installs, it doesn't crack the top ten in its category. Its traction has nothing to do with "doing something others don't."

### 3. Who actually built it: a template factory

- **The "Terapiando Foundation" credit belongs to a real US nonprofit** : 501(c)(3) in Draper, Utah, which received tax-exempt status in October 2025, EIN 33-3174503, providing mental health services to Latino families (source: ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer [projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/333174503](https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/333174503); official site [terapiandofoundation.com/](https://terapiandofoundation.com/); westsideleadership.org has coverage of founder Mafer Londoño). A community counseling organization would not publish an emoji keyboard and an expense tracker. **Inference** : this Play organization account was opened using this nonprofit's entity information, or was bought or rented (unverified). Organization accounts skip the personal-account "20 testers for 14 days" gate and can publish directly, which is the main reason organization accounts are bought and sold in the gray market.

- **The developer contact details are templated** : email dennimadi675819@gmail.com, site emojikeyboard283by4.netlify.app (a single privacy policy page that refers throughout to "the Game", clearly copied from a game template). Another app on the same account, "Daily Money: Expense Tracker", uses moneytrackerw9y31ru.netlify.app, 164k installs (googleplay library app table).

- **The same naming pattern appears across the library** : sites follow "<category word><number>y<sequence>.netlify.app" and emails are gmail addresses. The library has 135 such apps, tied to 67 developer names, with roughly 142M installs in total (googleplay library, coarse regex filter, may include a few unrelated apps).
    - Keyboard template 283: emojikeyboard283by4 (this app), ledkeyboard283by2 (LnuxInside "LED Keyboard - Glow Display", 2026-05)
    - Expense tracker template w9y: moneytrackerw9y31ru (Terapiando), smartbudgetw9y29 (ST Studio Inc, 536k), moneymanagew9y26 (SSon Studio, 1.09M), easybudgetw9y32 (Fergus Games)
    - AI photo template 588: aiartall588y8 (FunPrank, 3.85M), aiphoto588y3 (SSon Studio, 3.1M), aiartmagic588y9 (Leilani Rogers, 1.83M)…
    - Tarot 877/878, PDF 125, IPTV 662, and home design 710 follow the same playbook
    - Credits are mixed: Vietnamese personal names (LUONG HONG QUANG, Dien Tu Teach, VIETBASE, Code Dao), borrowed organization names (AGS-Stiftung, LEE COUNTY ROADSIDE, 2X2 CHURCH ACCOUNTABILITY, ALABAMA ONCOLOGY FOUNDATION, RACHEL JAYNE AESTHETICS), and random personal names (Gladys Bishop, Leilani Rogers).
    - Inference: this is a Vietnamese going-global studio (or several sharing one outsourced template supplier), operating by swapping skins in bulk and distributing across many accounts.

### 4. Growth tactics: where users come from

1. **Paid acquisition (Meta): sibling apps from the same factory are confirmed running ads; no direct evidence for this app.** In the metaads library, apps from this batch of "Netlify numbered sites" have 25 Page × app combinations running Meta ads. The Pages are all fake personal names with random suffixes (Caryl Simoneqbz, Tripp Rianiw, Hayden Arthurocl, Axtell Ohm Lindsay…). Examples: "Caryl Simoneqbz" runs com.ai.art.magic.image.generator, 50 ads all live; "Axtell Ohm Lindsay" runs the expense app com.moneytracker.smart.ai.finance.pro, 20 ads (2026-11-01 to 06). This app doesn't appear in metaads or googleads. But Meta's library discovery vocabulary has no "keyboard"-type terms, and Google's ad library only checks a listed set of products, so not finding it **doesn't mean it isn't advertised** .

2. **Organic traffic from category charts and store search: supported by evidence.** Package name and title are stuffed with keywords (emoji keyboard / themes / font / sticker), and it squeezed into the personalization free chart in 25 stores (best #9–12). The personalization chart has a low bar, and charting brings organic installs from visibility. The volume pattern is **steady acceleration with no single burst** , more like sustained spending than viral content.

3. **TikTok / creators / social media: none found.** A TikHub search for "Emoji Keyboard Color Themes" returned the official accounts of same-name competitors and other apps' tutorials, with nothing that maps to this app. On X (x-radar, last 90 days) there are 0 posts. Searchable web results are only automated aggregator pages like AppBrain, APKPure, Apptopia, Similarweb and appcand.

4. **Incentivized reviews / ratings: suspicious, but no conclusion.** Among 2,118 ratings, the share of 1-star and 2-star reviews has stayed close to 0,3/4/5 stars at 1:2:15; comparable keyboard apps like Neli and FunGear have around 10% 1-star. But Play's histograms for apps with few ratings are always coarse (other apps from the same factory also show a whole column of 0), so this is only a lead.

5. **Multi-account matrix: confirmed.** See section 3: the same template is republished under another account and package name (the keyboard template exists in at least two versions, 283by2 and 283by4). If one account gets banned or its volume decays, another takes over.

**Where the money comes from** : pure ads (ads, no IAP). The natural advantage of a keyboard app is high open frequency, which allows interstitial and app-open ads. The shift of volume toward Northern and Western Europe also suggests it's buying traffic where eCPM is high, pocketing the spread between ad revenue and acquisition cost. No revenue data is available, and break-even hasn't been verified.

### 5. Differentiation

- **Essentially no product differentiation** : the features are RGB glow, colorful themes, fonts and emoji, the same as Zayzik, Maxlabs, Neli and a dozen-plus others. The privacy policy was copied directly from a game template, and the version number is only 1.0.2.

- **The real "differentiation" is operational** : factory-style multi-account operation, multiple templates, low-cost replication; traction started in Latin America, Vietnam and Turkey, then moved to high-eCPM European markets. That's why it works, not the product.

### 6. Visibility

**Few people know about it** : no media or X coverage, no public revenue figures; the only pages online are scraper aggregators. But the business itself (reskinned keyboard themes monetized by ads) is extremely crowded and transparent on Play, with studios in Vietnam, India and Turkey all doing it. So "nobody knows about it" doesn't mean there's an open slot.

### 7. What others can learn

- How to play a low-barrier category: build one solid template, stuff the package name and title with keywords, push for small-country category charts, and hedge against bans with multiple accounts.

- Geographic strategy for ad-monetized products: first buy traffic and collect ratings in cheap markets, then shift budget to high-CPM ad markets.

- Also keep the risks in view: borrowing or impersonating an institution's identity to open an organization account violates Play policy, and once linked, all accounts can be banned together. Don't copy this part.

### 8. Still unclear

- Whether this app itself runs Meta / Google UAC / TikTok ads (only the sibling apps from the same factory are confirmed on Meta).

- Whether the "Terapiando Foundation" organization account was hijacked or sold, or authorized by the nonprofit itself (public information shows the nonprofit has no connection to the app).

- Ad revenue and paid acquisition cost: whether this business actually makes money.

- Retention: the recent review sample is 0 (the database only pulls reviews for the top 30 apps), so we can't see real user feedback.
