# Nine days after selling his calorie app at $20k MRR, he launched a plant app: Flowr isn't a hit yet, but it's worth watching because he's running the same playbook again

**What it is** A subscription app that identifies plants from photos, diagnoses leaf problems and schedules watering. Available only in Polish, Ukrainian and English.

**Why it's getting attention** It isn't a hit yet: 856 installs worldwide, with no ratings or revenue signals. It got noticed because the developer had just sold TrackAI, an AI calorie app with public revenue of $20k MRR, for a six-figure sum. Flowr is the next app he built with the same playbook.

**C** **How to follow it** Don't chase it into the plant category. Copy its process instead: AI photo recognition, a 3-day trial, weekly subscriptions and Meta acquisition. Pick a small-language market big players haven't localized and a niche with few rivals, and work out unit economics before expanding to more regions.

Grade C: Flowr hasn't broken out itself. The plant category has big players like PictureThis, PlantIn and Planta on Poland's grossing charts, and identification is free through Google Lens. Its edge is the operator's experience, not product differentiation. The process is worth learning, but following Flowr directly isn't worth it. Few people know about it yet

Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-10-23 · 11-07 installs 856

Data 2026-10-30 → 2026-11-07 (9 days, 9 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.

Flowr is a subscription app that identifies plants from photos, diagnoses leaf problems and schedules watering. It launched on Google Play in Oct 23 and on iOS in Nov 3, in only three languages: Polish, Ukrainian and English. By Nov 6 it had 856 installs worldwide, no ratings at all, and no spot on any revenue chart, so it isn't a hit. It's worth a look because its developer had just sold his previous AI photo-subscription app for a six-figure sum and is now applying the same playbook to plants. If you're building an AI photo-subscription app, you can learn from it, but there's no need to fight him in the plant category.

### "One chapter closed, next one begins"

In Oct 14, Oleksandr Yashchuk from Kraków posted on LinkedIn under the title "We sold TrackAI 🍅". He wrote that 18 months earlier it was only an idea: they built from scratch an AI app that counts calories from photos, a part-time team grew it to $250k ARR, and they had "just completed a six-figure exit". The post ends: "One chapter closed. On to the next one."

Nine days later, in Oct 23, his name showed up in the developer field of a new Google Play app: Flowr.

By day he is Delivery Director at outsourcing firm N-iX, managing 90 people (LinkedIn). The app is a side project. Besides TrackAI he also has AlertyPL, a Polish air-raid alert app with 9,638 installs on Play. So he has already targeted Polish speakers and Ukrainians living in Poland once before.

### How the previous app made money

TrackAI's revenue was publicly verified on TrustMRR: launched in June 2025, reached about $20k MRR within 12 months, $286k cumulative revenue, 5,000 active subscriptions and 327k installs, and "profitable from the second month, fully bootstrapped". The acquisition channel is listed as Meta Ads. The stack is React Native with RevenueCat, priced at $5.99/week, $9.99/month and $42.99/year. The TrustMRR page also says "RevenueCat API key expired, data frozen at 10-27", which fits the app having changed hands. TrackAI's Play developer name is now Modernbody, with 147k cumulative installs (Google Play, 11-06).

The first lesson he wrote in that post: validate the financial model before entering a new market, and calculate unit economics separately by acquisition channel, market, platform and campaign. The third: selling the company was itself a sales job. It took about three months and several hundred interested buyers, of whom only a few were serious.

Put together, the playbook is clear: pick a niche where users will pay a subscription for "take a photo, AI gives the answer", run a 3-day free trial and then convert to weekly, monthly or annual plans, buy users with Meta, start in small Central and Eastern European language markets, grow to around $20k a month, then list the app for sale.

### What Flowr is

The flowrapp.io site lists three features: snap a photo to identify the species, from Monstera and Chinese evergreen to money tree; snap a leaf to diagnose yellowing, spots, fungal infection or nutrient deficiency, with a step-by-step treatment plan and a recheck every few days; and a watering, fertilizing and repotting schedule adjusted for the season and your home. It also warns whether a plant is toxic to cats, dogs and children.

The copy is carefully toned: "a gentle, calm care companion, not a cold counter" and "reminders that never make you feel guilty, even if you miss one". It targets ordinary people who keep a few houseplants and often kill them, not gardening enthusiasts.

The pricing is the familiar pattern: a 3-day trial, then weekly, monthly and annual subscriptions. In-app prices on Play run from $3.39 to $38.99. On Oct 30 the top tier was still $49.99, and the next day it changed to $38.99 (Google Play). Pricing is still being adjusted.

### Those 856 installs don't say much

| Date | Total installs | New today | Poland "Home" free chart |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-30 | 15 | – | 12 |
| 11-01 | 15 | 0 | 9 |
| 11-02 | 521 | +506 | 12 |
| 11-03 | 706 | +185 | 13 |
| 11-05 | 856 | +150 | 22 |
| 11-06 | 856 | 0 | 21 |

(Google Play, 10-30 to 11-06)

Two things to keep in mind. First, with only 15 installs it already ranked #9 on Poland's House & Home free chart. That category's bar is low: the #28 app there, a waste-sorting schedule app, has only a little over a thousand installs in total. Once installs grew, its rank actually fell from #9 to #22. Charting doesn't mean volume.

Second, on Nov 2 it jumped +506, then ticked up every other day, with the days in between at 0. That looks more like Play install counts refreshing only every day or two. TrackAI's curve back then also moved in steps, so the +506 may have built up over several days. The timing is telling: on the night of Nov 2 the website was updated to "Now on Google Play," iOS launched on Nov 3, and within two days it hit 1.0.2. The Android version also got an update on Nov 5. This looks like the point where they started pushing for real.

Where is the traffic coming from? Searching "flowr app" and "flowr rośliny" on TikTok turns up no related videos, nobody has mentioned it on X in the past 30 days, and there is no press coverage. Based on how he ran his last app, the most likely explanation is that Meta paid acquisition has started, but I couldn't find its ads in the Meta ad library. This part is inference.

### The plant category is already crowded

| Product | Scale (Play cumulative installs, 11-06) | Compared with Flowr |
|---|---|---|
| PictureThis(Glority) | 83.9M; #3 in Poland's Education Top Grossing | The market leader, with a recognition database and ad budget far beyond Flowr's |
| PlantIn | 16.2M; Poland Top Grossing 31 | A Ukrainian team, also started in Eastern Europe and grown through Meta paid acquisition, with nearly identical features |
| Planta | 3.31M; #6 in Poland's House & Home Top Grossing | The leader for plant care scheduling in the same category, the spot Flowr wants to take |
| Plantis | 617k | A Polish home-grown plant care and diagnosis app, the most direct local rival |
| Florum | 360k, +93k in 7 days | A paid-acquisition-driven identification app that launched in April 2026, showing people are still pushing into this space |
| PlantNet / Google Lens | 49M / 4B | Free identification has pushed the price of "telling what this plant is" down to zero |

Flowr's features are no different in substance from PlantIn or Plantis. It has three differences: first, it is listed in House & Home rather than the Education category where rivals cluster, and a new app is easier to notice in that category in Poland; second, it offers Ukrainian, aimed at Ukrainians living in Poland; third, its tone is gentle and it targets families. Its real edge isn't the product but the person behind it: he has a paid acquisition and subscription funnel that has already worked, and he knows how to calculate unit economics for small-language markets.

The problem is that plants are harder to monetize than calories. PictureThis and PlantIn are both on Poland's Top Grossing chart, so paid acquisition bids won't be cheap, and people don't open a plant app every day the way they log food, so the reason to renew is weaker (inference). Whether this can be replicated depends on the next month or two.

### If it were you

**One-line take** : Don't go into plants to compete with Flowr. What's worth learning is the workflow: "AI photo + 3-day trial + weekly subscription + Meta paid acquisition + small-language markets first + price tests until it sells." Apply it to a niche vertical where no big company has localized yet and rivals haven't piled in.

**Who it fits** : a small team of one or two people who has run Meta campaigns and can calculate their own CAC and LTV, ideally someone who understands a small-language market (Poland, Czechia, Romania, Turkey, or Vietnam all work), or who is part of a diaspora community themselves.

**Who it doesn't fit** : indie developers who haven't run paid campaigns. Apps like this get almost no organic traffic. Flowr is silent on TikTok and X, so the only option is buying installs. Also skip this if you plan to beat PictureThis on recognition accuracy, since recognition is already free.

**How to build it** : First find a niche where people want an answer the moment they snap a photo and the questions keep coming back, such as skin, pet symptoms, food allergies, outfits, or dashboard warning lights. Ship on both platforms with React Native and RevenueCat, offer a 3-day trial, then sell a weekly plan first. Put the app in a category with fewer rivals instead of crowding a big one. Adjust subscription prices within the first two weeks of launch: Flowr cut its top tier from $49.99 to $38.99 the very next day.

**How to acquire users** : Run Meta campaigns, starting with one small country and one language. Calculate unit economics for each channel and campaign separately, and only add a country once the numbers work. Build creative around the few seconds of "snap → answer."

**When to move** : The AI photo subscription model is already well known, and TrackAI's revenue and exit are public. If you want to claim a spot in a small-language market, launch before the first half of 2027, because once big companies finish localizing, it's too late.

**What would prove me wrong** : If by next Q1 Flowr reaches the top 10 of Poland's House & Home Top Grossing, expands to more countries, and passes tens of thousands of installs, then this operator can replicate success even in a crowded category, which would mean "operator over product" is a wider path than we assumed and plants aren't off-limits. Conversely, if its installs stay in the thousands after December and it never expands to new countries, this playbook doesn't work in verticals with strong rivals and high CAC, and choosing the niche matters more than knowing how to run ads.

Competitors

| Name | Where | Launched | Scale | How it differs from this one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PictureThis(Glority) | iOS | 2017 | Play 83.9M installs, #3 in Poland's Education Top Grossing | The market leader, with a recognition database and budget far beyond Flowr's; Flowr is a localized, smaller version |
| PlantIn | Android | 2021 | Play 16.2M installs, #31 in Poland's Top Grossing | Also an Eastern European team that relies on paid acquisition, with botanist consultations added; features are nearly identical |
| Planta | Android | 2020 | Play 3.31M installs, #6 in Poland's House & Home Top Grossing | The plant care scheduling leader in the same category, priced higher ($7.99–$69.99); Flowr adds diagnosis at a lower price |
| Plantis(Elantris) | Android | 2020 | Play 617k installs | A long-established Polish plant care and diagnosis app; Flowr adds Ukrainian and ships updates more often |
| Plant Parent(Glority) | Android | 2022 | Play 15.4M installs | Glority's second brand focused on plant care, mostly in English |
| Florum: AI Plant Identifier | Android | 2026-04 | 360K installs on Play, +7K in 93 days | A newly arrived, heavily paid-acquisition-driven identification app, roughly two orders of magnitude bigger than Flowr |
| AI Plant Doctor(JodAI) | Android | 2025-09 | Play 190k installs | Also AI diagnosis and in House & Home, mostly English |
| Google Lens / PlantNet | Big-company features | 2018 / 2014 | 4B / 49M installs | Free identification; Flowr makes money from diagnosis and care schedules, not from identification itself |

Where users come from

- Inferred **Meta paid acquisition** : TrackAI's listed channel on TrustMRR is Meta Ads, and the founder's LinkedIn stresses calculating unit economics by channel and campaign. Installs jumped suddenly on the website and iOS launch days (11-02, 11-03). No Flowr ads found in the metaads library.

- **Verified** **Store category chart (Poland House & Home free chart)** : chart_rank 10-30 to 11-06, ranking #9–22; it ranked #9 when it had only 15 installs, so the traffic it brought in was small.

- Inferred **Cross-promotion from the founder's other app (AlertyPL air raid alerts, 9.6k installs)** : same developer, same Polish and Ukrainian user base; AlertyPL runs ads, but I found no evidence it promotes Flowr.

- Inferred **TikTok / X / press** : TikHub and x-radar searches returned no related content.

## Flowr (com.flowr.app): the founder who sold TrackAI, running a second AI photo subscription app with the same playbook.

> Research date 2026-11-06. Data sources: our googleplay library (daily from 2026-10-29), metaads library (from 2026-11-01), App Store lookup, TrustMRR, LinkedIn, TikHub, x-radar, flowrapp.io.

### One line

Flowr is an AI plant identification, disease diagnosis, and watering reminder subscription app (on Android since 10-23, on iOS since 11-03), with Polish, Ukrainian, and English support. It hasn't really taken off yet: as of 11-06 it has 856 cumulative installs worldwide (googleplay library), no ratings, and no revenue chart position. It's worth watching because of the person behind it: developer Oleksandr Yashchuk just sold TrackAI, his AI photo calorie-counting app. TrackAI showed roughly $20k MRR on TrustMRR, acquired mainly through Meta ads. A LinkedIn post from around October says it sold for a "six-figure exit." Less than 10 days after the sale, he launched Flowr. It's a clear case: the same operator is taking the "AI photo + 3-day trial + weekly/monthly/annual subscriptions + small Eastern European language markets first" model and applying it as-is to plant care, an already crowded category.

### 1. What the data itself shows

| Date | Total installs | Daily change | PL HOUSE_AND_HOME free chart |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10-30 | 15 | – | 12 |
| 10-31 | 15 | 0 | 11 |
| 11-01 | 15 | 0 | **9** |
| 11-02 | 521 | +506 | 12 |
| 11-03 | 706 | +185 | 13 |
| 11-04 | 706 | 0 | 18 |
| 11-05 | 856 | +150 | 22 |
| 11-06 | 856 | 0 | 21 |

(googleplay library app_day / chart_rank)

- **Charting doesn't mean scale.** From 10-30 to 11-01 it had only 15 installs yet ranked #9–12 on Poland's House & Home free chart. That chart is easy to enter (the #28 app, "Harmonogram odpadów," had only 1,067 cumulative installs), and Play gives new apps a velocity boost. Once installs picked up, its rank actually fell from 9 to 22. So the "broke into the top 21" note in the recall card doesn't mean it's taking off.

- **How the jump at 11-02 happened.** One day +506, then +185 and +150 two days apart, with 0 in between. That rhythm fits Play's maxInstalls, which only refreshes every day or two (TrackAI, from the same developer, also jumps like this: 0/791/0/0/1007). So +506 may be several days of installs bundled together. Timing-wise it sits close to three events: the official site flowrapp.io updated to "Now on Google Play" at 11-02 22:23 GMT (publish time as captured by Jina); the iOS version 11-03 went live, and 11-05 has already reached 1.0.2 (App Store lookup); the Play version 11-05 moved from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 (app_snap). This looks like the point where paid acquisition or the soft launch began.

- It has charted in only 1 country (n_countries_now=1, Poland only). On the day the in-app purchase ran from $3.39–$38.99,10-30, the cap was $49.99; the next day it was changed to $38.99, showing pricing is still being tuned (app_snap).

**Bottom line** : So far it's a cold-start app just beginning to spend, with installs in the hundreds, and it hasn't taken off. The informative part is who is building it and how.

### 2. The developer: TrackAI's playbook and exit

- TrustMRR (trustmrr.com/startup/trackai): TrackAI launched in June 2025, reached $20k MRR ($244k ARR) in 12 months, with 4,700 paying subscribers and 327k+ installs, and was "profitable in its second month, fully bootstrapped." Its listed acquisition channel was **Meta Ads** . Stack: React Native + RevenueCat; pricing $5.99/week, $9.99/month, $42.99/year. Lifetime revenue $286,028, MRR $19,437,5,160 from active subscriptions. The page also says "RevenueCat API key expired, data frozen at 2026-10-27," which matches the sync stopping after the sale.

- LinkedIn post "We sold TrackAI 🍅" (the post page shows it was published 3 weeks ago, around 2026-10-14): from idea to $250K ARR in 18 months, a part-time team, a "six-figure exit," about three months to sell. His first takeaway: "Validate the financial model before entering a new market, and look at unit economics separately by channel, market, platform, and campaign."

- Evidence in the stores: on Play, TrackAI (com.yashchuk.trackai) now lists the developer name **Modernbody** , with 146,775 cumulative installs (googleplay library 11-06). His iOS developer page also lists only AlertyPL and Flowr. So "Flowr is by the TrackAI founder" holds, but the recall card's claim that he "currently focuses on TrackAI" is out of date: TrackAI has been sold, and Flowr is his next project after the exit.

- He also has an app called AlertyPL (Polish air raid alerts) with 9,638 cumulative installs on Play and 171 ratings on iOS. This shows he knows the Polish and Ukrainian diaspora audience.

- His background: Delivery Director at N-iX, based in Kraków, with 14 years of IT experience, managing about 90 people (LinkedIn, theorg). Building apps is a side project run by a part-time team.

### 3. Competitors (plant identification, diagnosis, care)

This category is mature, with many large competitors.

| Product | Platform | Launched | Scale (Play cumulative installs, googleplay library 11-06) | How it differs from Flowr |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PictureThis(Glority) | iOS/Android | 2017 | 83.9M; PL Education Top Grossing #3 | The industry leader, with the most complete identification database and multilingual support, and a big paid-acquisition budget. Flowr has no edge in identification. |
| Plant Parent(Glority) | iOS/Android | 2022 | 15.4M | Also focused on "care". It's Glority's second brand. |
| PlantIn | iOS/Android | 2021 | 16.2M; PL Top Grossing 31 | A Ukrainian team, also starting out in Eastern Europe and relying on Meta paid acquisition, with botanist consultations. The closest "predecessor" to Flowr. |
| Planta | iOS/Android | 2020 | 3.31M; **PL House & Home Top Grossing #6** | Focused on care reminder schedules, in the same category as Flowr. This is the spot Flowr wants to take. |
| Plantis(Elantris) | iOS/Android | 2020 | 617k | A care and diagnosis app from Poland, the most direct competitor to Flowr in the Polish market. |
| Florum | Android and others | 2026-04 | 360k, +93k in 7 days | A newly arrived paid-acquisition identification app, a sign that this niche keeps attracting new entrants. |
| AI Plant Doctor(JodAI) | Android | 2025-09 | 190k | Also focused on AI diagnosis, in the same House & Home category. |
| Plant Identifier - Scan & Care(ZAppsolution) | Android | 2025-08 | 3.88M | A tool-maker-style batch identification app. |
| PlantNet / Google Lens | Android/Web | 2014 / big company | 49M / 4B | Free identification that pushes the price of identification itself to zero. |

**What sets Flowr apart** : (1) It's placed not in the crowded EDUCATION category but in HOUSE_AND_HOME, where the free chart bar is low in Poland and new apps can chart easily. (2) The interface and website are in Polish, Ukrainian and English, with copy about "gentle, guilt-free reminders," and it warns whether plants are toxic to cats, dogs and kids, positioning it as a household indoor-plant app. (3) Android and iOS launched almost simultaneously. Feature-wise (photo identification, disease diagnosis, watering schedules) there's no real difference from PlantIn or Plantis. **The differentiation is in the operation, not the product** : a proven paid-acquisition and subscription funnel, plus experience with unit economics in small-language markets.

### 4. Growth tactics (evidence found)

- **Meta ads** : No direct evidence. The metaads library has no advertiser that leads to flowrapp.io or com.flowr.app (this library only tracks Pages surfaced by keyword search, so not finding them doesn't mean they didn't run ads). There are three indirect signals: TrackAI's acquisition channel on TrustMRR is listed as Meta Ads; the founder has publicly said they look at unit economics by channel and campaign; and installs jumped on the website and iOS launch days rather than growing slowly and organically. So a paid-acquisition launch is quite likely, but **unverified** .

- **Store category charts** : Confirmed. It ranks on the PL House & Home free chart, but the traffic it brings is very small (it ranked #9 with 15 installs).

- **TikTok / X / Reddit / media** : A TikHub search for "flowr app" and "flowr rośliny" found no related videos; the flowr and flowrapp TikTok accounts are not theirs. x-radar found 0 posts for "flowrapp" in the past 30 days. No media coverage either.

- **Cross-promotion from the founder's other app** : AlertyPL is made by the same person, with users in Poland and Ukraine, and it carries ads. Whether Flowr is promoted inside it is **unverified** .

- **Website SEO** : flowrapp.io is a trilingual landing page with an FAQ, and it ranks #1 on Jina for "Flowr aplikacja rośliny AI." But the site is brand new, so SEO traffic should be negligible.

### 5. How many people have seen it

- Flowr itself: **few people know about it yet** . No ratings, no media, no X discussion; AppBrain still shows "10+ downloads."

- But the founder's previous project, TrackAI, published its revenue on TrustMRR, and the exit was announced on LinkedIn. Anyone following TrustMRR can look this person up.

- Copycats: Flowr itself has none; if anything, it is a follower of products like PlantIn and Plantis.

### 6. Verdict: why it's worth watching

1. It hasn't taken off yet. 856 installs, and no visible revenue.

2. It's the second run of the "AI photo → 3-day trial → subscription, Meta paid acquisition, first target small Central and Eastern European languages" model, by someone who just made a six-figure exit off the first run. Worth watching: does this model still hold when moved to a niche with higher CAC and stronger competitors (PictureThis and PlantIn are both on the Polish Top Grossing chart)?

3. The founder's model is essentially "build a subscription app worth selling": grow it to roughly $20k MRR, then list it for sale on platforms like TrustMRR. Flowr is very likely following the "build for a year, then sell" path.

### Takeaways

- Choose the niche: find a vertical that has already proven users will pay a subscription for AI answers from a photo (calories, plants, skin, pets...), move to a small-language market where big players haven't localized, and use Meta to work out the unit economics first.

- Category choice: the same feature, placed in a category with fewer rivals (House & Home rather than Education), makes it much easier for a new app to show up on a small-country chart.

- Exit: publicly verified revenue on TrustMRR works both as credibility and as a sales channel for the app; TrackAI sold in about three months.

### Unknowns

- Whether the 11-02 +506 installs came from paid acquisition, ASO testing, or a number Play refreshed after a few days' accumulation is unverified; the Meta ad library has no direct ads from it.

- Subscription conversion and revenue are completely unknown; iOS has only 1 ratings.

- Who bought TrackAI (Play lists Modernbody) and at what price is unknown.

- Whether it will expand into English and other European markets will have to wait for expansion data.
