50 "你笑起来真好看": a Turkish coin-based chat app, 45k installs, breaks into the local top-grossing chart
What it is A Turkish-language dating and chat app. Messages, calls, and gifts all cost coins, with weekly and monthly subscriptions also available.
Why it's taking off Since mid-September it has run continuous Turkish-language ads on TikTok (11-06 with 153 currently running), plus a coin-based monetization model proven in Turkey for years. A single paying male user is worth tens of dollars.
CHow you could play it Don't enter Turkey, which is already crowded. A team with companion-chat supply and ad buying capability could copy the same structure into a smaller-language market with fewer similar apps and cheaper TikTok traffic.
- Data (updated daily) · first launch 2026-08-25 · 11-07 installs 44,905
Android · Total installs worldwide Data 2026-10-29 → 2026-11-07 (10 days, 10 observations). Google's detail page only refreshes install counts every other day, so a flat day doesn't mean nobody installed.
Fubby is a Turkish-language dating chat app. It's registered to a US LLC in Missouri. On Google Play it has only 45k installs, yet it ranks #12 in Turkey's dating Top Grossing chart. It didn't invent anything new. It copied the model that a dozen local competitors already proved: men pay gold coins to chat, and everything else is built around that. Then it keeps buying Turkish-language TikTok ads. Below: how it makes money, where the traffic comes from, who it's competing with, and whether you should follow.
A user with no profile photo received 50 DMs
In Oct 7, a user called vkvolkan38 on the Turkish App Store gave Fubby 1 stars, titled "Sahte fake" (fake): "I didn't even upload a photo, yet about 50 female accounts messaged me saying 'your smile is so nice.' Don't download this."
Several similar reviews came in that same week. Oct 6: "Jeton olmazsa hiçsin" (without coins you're nothing). Oct 11: "A trap built on money. You'll never find a real person among the fake accounts." Oct 17: "I swear it's a money pit, I wasted 600 lira." Oct 21: "At first they said it's free and no coins needed, let you send a few messages, then push you to top up." (App Store Turkey reviews, read 11-06)
By Nov 6, Fubby's iOS app in Turkey had only 18 ratings averaging 3.2, yet ranked #13 on Turkey's social Top Grossing chart. Many negative reviews, few ratings, and a high revenue ranking: that alone tells you what kind of business this is.
What it is
On the store page it calls itself "Meet New People & Chat". The Turkish homepage says "Share your story, meet new people." You create a profile, browse others, message whoever you like, and do voice and video calls. Features include auto-translation, 12 languages, "meet people in other cities," and an Instagram-style feed with 24-hour stories and follows.
Money is collected at nearly every step: sending messages, message requests, Super Likes, unlocking private photos, voice and video calls (billed per minute), and gifts all cost coins. Coins can be bought in packs or by weekly subscription, and there are also weekly and monthly VIP subscriptions. Turkish iOS prices: 400 coins for ₺199.99 up to ₺299.99,4000 coins for ₺1,499.99, a weekly subscription at ₺249.99 (about $6), and a monthly subscription at ₺649.99 (Turkey App Store page, 11-06). The terms also mention "gift coins" bought directly with money, and state that the recipient only gets a token of appreciation, not usable coins.
The iOS version launched in 2025 Dec 1. The Play version shows a release date of 2026 Aug 25. Traffic really started mid-September.
Where the traffic comes from: Turkish-language TikTok ads
In the publicly visible TikTok ad library for Europe and Turkey, the advertiser FUBBY LLC (TikTok account @fubbyapp) first ran an ad on Sep 19. As of Nov 6, 229 ads are visible in total, 153 still running, with 7 new ones in the last 41 days. The copy repeats three or four lines: "Yeni nesil sosyal medya / sosyal ağ" (next-gen social media / social network), "Flört edelim tanışalım" (let's flirt and get to know each other), "Tanışmanın Güvenli ve Eğlenceli Yolu" (a safe and fun way to meet people). Note that it packages itself as a "social network" rather than a dating app, which probably makes ads easier to get approved (inference).
Ad batches line up with the install curve. On Oct 6 it launched 58 ads at once. Third-party estimates put Play installs at about 14.7k the next day, roughly two thousand a day. On October 18 and 19 it added 53 more, and by Oct 22 daily installs had climbed to 2,684. By Nov 6, Play cumulative installs had grown by 7,803 over 44,905,7 days (Google Play installs, 11-06). Ads launched since November mostly point to the App Store in the spot checks, suggesting it's starting to spend on iOS.
Organic reach is tiny: @fubbyapp has 577 followers, 155 posts, and 6,236 likes. The post count and ad count are in the same range, so the posts are likely just ad creatives (inference). Nothing shows up on X, Reddit, or in the media. The privacy policy says it integrates the AppsFlyer, Meta, and TikTok SDKs, and that sign-up and payment events are sent back to TikTok and Meta. That's the standard setup for bidding on paying users.
The math works because a paying male user who buys one ₺1,500 pack of 4000 coins, or subscribes weekly for a month at ₺1,000, is worth a few dozen dollars. Installing from Turkish TikTok costs far less than that (estimate; actual spend isn't visible from outside).
The other side: supplying the conversations
Paying men alone aren't enough. Someone has to keep talking to them. Fubby's privacy policy has two points worth reading. First, the platform may use users' approved photos to "post stories for 24 hours" on their behalf. Second, there's an "ambassador program" that requires a real name and phone number to apply, with gifts received not counted as income, and "separate ambassador terms." Chat content is handed to a "moderation and customer service platform hosted in Germany" and to dedicated "message processing providers," together with the other person's name, age, and city.
In Turkey, job listings for "dating app chat agents, work from home, paid daily" are everywhere online. Put those next to the opening story about "50 female accounts" messaging a user, and the most likely explanation is that the platform pays chat operators to reply to paying male users (inference; no direct evidence). This is a common practice in this category of app, and it's also its biggest risk.
Who it's competing with
Of the top 30 dating apps on Turkey's Google Play Top Grossing chart, a dozen or more use this same template (Google Play Turkey chart, 11-06):
| App | Launched | Play installs | Dating chart rankings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Civarda Sevgili Bul | 2021-11 | 2.29M | 4 |
| Mory | 2023-02 | 79k | 8 |
| HarbyLove | 2024-05 | 120k | 9 |
| Tolky (video chat) | 2025-05 | 670k | 10 |
| Kaçamak Sevgili Bul | 2022-09 | 1.6M | 11 |
| Fubby | 2026-08 | 45k | 12 |
| Metres | 2025-04 | 117k | 19 |
| KiDate | 2025-09 | 27k | 22 |
| Gizli Flört | 2025-05 | 44k | 25 |
| Alev | 2026-04 | 33k | 27 |
| Pawn | 2026-07 | 15k | 28 |
Many follow the same pattern of "US LLC + Turkish store page + coins," and new players keep arriving every year: Alev in April, Pawn in July, Fubby in August. On Turkey's consumer complaint site sikayetvar, Kaçamak and Civarda both have complaints about "fake profiles plus paying coins to message." Tinder, Bumble, and Badoo also sit near the top of this chart, but they earn subscriptions from real matches and draw on a different pool of money.
Compared with these competitors, Fubby's only real difference is that it's more polished: a bilingual Chinese and English website, a child-safety page, detailed Turkish and EU privacy terms, contact details in chats get masked (to stop users from moving off-platform to avoid paying), and auto-translation. These look built to pass store review rather than to give users a reason to choose it. Its #12 ranking comes from ad execution.
On a side note, it also appears on the dating Top Grossing charts in more than a dozen countries, including Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, India, and the Philippines. But in those charts, the #80 through #90 spots are the same string of Turkish apps, shifted by a place or two. It looks like one aggregated chart, so don't treat it as proof of real revenue in those countries. The real money comes only from Turkey.
How many people know about it
Almost nobody outside knows about it: no public revenue, no press coverage, no discussion on X, and the company website still says "Currently in development." But that doesn't help anyone who wants to follow it, because Fubby is itself a copycat. The niche is already crowded, and the know-how is no secret among Turkish competitors.
If it were you
C. You can learn a complete playbook for buying traffic in a small-language market, but copying it isn't worth it: Turkey already has a dozen apps, and the real cost of this business is on the supply side, in a gray area.
Who it suits: teams that already have a coin-based chat product and chat-agent supply, know how to buy on TikTok, and want to replicate the model in another country. Or people who understand a particular small-language market and can find local operators and payment channels.
Who it doesn't suit: indie developers who want to build a clean dating product (cold-starting real two-way matching is much harder than this, and this template's profit comes precisely from not matching people); anyone without tens of thousands of dollars in ad budget; anyone unwilling to touch "chat agents" or "operator accounts."
How to do it: don't enter Turkey. Pick a market where men are willing to pay, local-language dating apps are scarce, and TikTok traffic is cheap (Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and Eastern European small-language markets are worth checking first for similar apps on the charts). Copy Fubby's structure: a US LLC entity, a local-language store page, free messages followed by coin purchases, then layer on per-minute calls, a weekly subscription, and gifts as extra revenue points. Write out the website, privacy policy, and child-safety page in full to lower the risk of removal.
How to acquire users: run local-language TikTok ads that position the app as a "next-gen social network" rather than "dating." Produce creatives in bulk, dozens per batch, and send payment events back to TikTok so it can bid for paying users. Start with a small budget to see whether one paying user's lifetime value can exceed acquisition cost, then scale up (inference).
Deadline: there's no holiday window, but new entrants to this category arrive every quarter, so getting into the target market sooner beats later. And if store review for "fake profiles plus coins" apps tightens, the window could close all at once.
Signs you got it wrong: (1) Fubby's running TikTok ads (11-06 out of 153) are cut in half over the next month or two, while its Turkish dating chart rank drops out of the top 30, which would mean ad spend isn't paying back. (2) Google Play or the App Store removes a batch of Turkish coin-chat apps, which would mean the template itself no longer works. (3) Conversely, if Fubby breaks into the local charts of one or two more countries with real revenue behind them, that would show the model transfers across countries, and it would be worth moving this up a tier.

Why Fubby: Meet New People (com.fubby.social) can show up on the charts
TL;DR: Fubby is a Turkish-made Turkish-language "Sevgili Bul"-style paid chat and dating app (the shell company is FUBBY LLC, registered in Missouri, USA). It monetizes through coins and subscriptions. It took off by copying a proven template: steady TikTok paid acquisition in Turkish, plus the coin-based "men pay to message, call, and send gifts" model that local apps in this category already validated. The product has no real differentiation. The "charted in a dozen countries" signal on the card is mostly an artifact of aggregated charts. Only Turkey has real revenue.

"Charted in 17 countries" is an artifact: we pulled the DATING Top Grossing charts for the za/ph/in/sa/id/my storefronts on the same day, ranks 80–90. Every storefront shows the same set of apps (harbylove, kacamak, nekoya, fubby…), just shifted a place or two. So those smaller storefronts' category charts are effectively the same aggregated chart. The same Turkish competitors (Mory, Kaçamak, HarbyLove, Alev, Pawn, etc.) all have n_countries_now = 17. Outside Turkey, the rankings should not be read as real revenue in those countries. The only real revenue signals are: Turkey Play DATING Top Grossing #12, overall Top Grossing #148–151, and Turkey iOS Social Top Grossing #13.

This is clearly an established niche. Many players use the same combo: "US LLC + Turkish store page + coins", and new entrants keep arriving every year (Alev 2026-04, Pawn 2026-07, Fubby 2026-08). On the Turkish consumer complaints site sikayetvar, Kaçamak and Civarda both have complaints about "sahte profil" (fake profiles) and "jetonlu mesajlaşma" (paying coins to message), which points to the same monetization template.
2.2 Global majors (the heads of the same charts)
Tinder (530M installs, #1 on Turkey DATING Top Grossing), happn, Bumble, Hinge, Badoo, Jaumo, OkCupid, Boo. They monetize through subscriptions, and their users are real people matching with each other. Fubby doesn't compete with them on user scale. It goes after the money from men who will pay per message or per minute to chat with women.
2.3 International translated dating
Bumpy (21M installs, #14 on Turkey DATING Top Grossing) focuses on cross-border matching with automatic translation. Fubby also has automatic translation (Google Cloud Translation), 12 languages, and "meet people in different cities," but its ads and website are only in Turkish and English, so it is still aimed at the Turkish market.
3. Growth driver: TikTok paid acquisition (confirmed)
- TikTok ads: the tiktokads library matches this app to advertiser FUBBY LLC (registered in the US, TikTok account @fubbyapp; the evidence is that the ads' download_url is com.fubby.social). The first ad appeared on 2026-09-19, we've seen 229 in total, and 153 are currently running, with 7 new in the last 41 days. All ad copy is in Turkish: "Yeni nesil sosyal medya / sosyal ağ" (next-gen social media / social network), "Flört edelim tanışalım" (let's flirt and get to know each other), "Tanışmanın Güvenli ve Eğlenceli Yolu" (a safe and fun way to meet).
- The ad batches line up with the install curve: 09-19 launched the first batch of 12 ads, 10-06 went up with 58 ads at once. By 10-07, AppstoreSpy estimates installs had reached 14.7k, with roughly 1.8–2.2k daily adds. On 10-18 and 10-19, 53 more ads went live, and daily adds rose to 2,684,10-26 on 10-22 (2,488 per day). Installs appear to track ad spend closely.
- Organic reach is small: @fubbyapp has only 577 followers, 155 posts, and 6,236 likes (TikHub). The post count is on the same order of magnitude as the ad count, so these posts are most likely ad creatives (inference).
- Attribution and event postbacks: the privacy policy states it integrates AppsFlyer, the Meta SDK, and the TikTok SDK. On Android, registration and purchase events are postbacked to TikTok, and RevenueCat sends purchase events to Meta. This is a standard setup for bidding on paid-event optimization.
- Meta / Google ads: the metaads library did not match a FUBBY Page. The googleads check returned no_ads. Not finding ads doesn't mean there aren't any, but TikTok is clearly the main channel.
- Not found: no X, press coverage, Reddit, HN, or creator partnerships (x-radar: 90 days, 0 posts; web searches for Fubby return only unrelated results like Furby and iFunny). No signs of chart-climbing or review-farming in the stores either: Play shows no rating, and iOS has only 18 ratings.
Where the money comes from: Turkish male users are brought in by TikTok ads. After signing up they get a few free messages, and after that, sending messages, message requests, super likes, unlocking private photos, paid voice and video calls (billed per minute), and gifts all cost coins. Coins are sold in packs or as weekly subscriptions, and VIP is sold as weekly, monthly, or yearly subscriptions. There is also a "Gift Coins" gift pack bought directly with money, and the terms state that the recipient can't cash out the coins, so it is purely symbolic. At Turkey iOS prices, a weekly subscription costs about ₺250 (about $6), and a 4000-coin pack costs ₺1,500. A paying user is probably worth several dozen dollars, far above the cost of a single Turkish TikTok install, so the ad spend pencils out. This is inference; acquisition costs were not verified.
4. Why it took off
- Copy a proven template instead of figuring out demand yourself: Turkey's DATING Top Grossing top 30 includes more than a dozen similar coin-chat apps, some running for 2021 years (Civarda, 2.29M installs, still ranked #4). Fubby copied the whole package: the paywall design, the US LLC entity, and the Turkish store page.
- Sustained TikTok spend: new creatives have been going up nonstop since 09-19, with 153 ads running (tiktokads library, 2026-11-04). The steps in the install curve match the ad batches.
- Many paywalls per user, high ticket size: the monetization points include coins (per message and per minute), VIP, a coin weekly subscription, boost (exposure), super likes, and gifts (terms sections 8–10). With only 45k installs, it reached #148 overall Top Grossing on Turkey Play and #13 on Turkey iOS Social Top Grossing.
- Keep male users engaged with something to look at: the privacy policy says the platform uses the avatars of users who have already been reviewed to post 24-hour stories on their behalf, and these stories are not posted by the users themselves. The terms also include a "partner program" that requires a real name and phone number to apply, and receiving gifts doesn't count as income; there are "separate partner terms." This matches a large number of Turkish online job ads for "dating app chat agents, work from home, paid daily," which all describe the same business: the platform pays women to chat, reply to paying male users. The privacy policy also states that chat content goes into a "moderation and customer service platform hosted in Germany," and that a dedicated "message processing service provider" handles chat text (along with the recipient's name, age, and city). This is inference; there is no direct evidence that it uses operator accounts or ghostwritten chats. But a review on the Turkey iOS storefront says, in its own words: "they're all money traps… they make you send a few messages first, then they push you to top up."
- Timing: no platform event was found. This niche doesn't run on timing. It runs on acquisition efficiency plus local willingness to pay.
5. Differentiation
Compared with the majors, it's a different business: the majors are real-person matching plus subscriptions, while this one is paid chat plus gifts. Compared with local Turkish peers, there is essentially no differentiation. A few points stand out:
- The product is more polished and "compliant": it has bilingual English and Turkish sites, a child safety page, a detailed KVKK/GDPR privacy policy, contact details in chat are masked (to stop users from moving off-platform to avoid paying), sensitive photos are blurred, and it has auto-translation and 12 languages. These look more like preparation for store review and future global expansion than the reason users pick it.
- The ads position it as "next-gen social media," with stories and follow features, which downplays the "find a partner" angle. This may make TikTok ads easier to get approved (inference).
Conclusion: differentiation is not why it took off. It took off because of two things: acquisition execution, and a proven monetization template.
6. How many people know about it
Few people know about it yet. No public revenue figures, no press coverage, no discussion on X, and the company website fubbyllc.com still says "Currently in development." But within this Turkish niche, it is itself a copycat, and the niche is crowded (more than a dozen similar apps, with new LLC-shell entrants every year).
Copycats: no one specifically copying Fubby has been found yet. Other template-based apps that entered around the same time include Pawn (2026-07), Alev (2026-04), and KiDate (2025-09).
7. What others can borrow
- A small-language market + a high-willingness-to-pay category + a US LLC entity + batch TikTok ads in the local language + optimization on paid-event postbacks. With 4–50k installs, you can reach the local top grossing charts.
- Stack your paywalls: pay per message, pay per minute, weekly subscriptions, coin subscriptions, boost, and gifts, with gifts purchasable directly for money.
- Write out the website, privacy policy, and child safety page in full to reduce the risk of removal.
- Risks: this model depends heavily on the supply side (paid chat agents, operator accounts). It carries reputational risk for fake profiles and scamming, plus removal risk. Complaints about similar apps on sikayetvar are ready-made examples.
8. Still unclear
- Whether operator accounts or ghostwritten chats are used (partly inference), and the specifics of the "partner program."
- The actual TikTok ad spend, single-install cost, and payback period.
- Whether the Play launch really happened on 2026-08-25 (iOS launched 2025-12; Play may have launched earlier and the date was reset). AppstoreSpy data only starts from 10-07.
- Whether there is real revenue outside Turkey (likely not; the rankings in other storefronts come from aggregated charts).
- Who the team is: the website is only in Turkish and English, and the privacy policy cites KVKK, so the team is judged to be Turkish, but who specifically is unknown.
