34k installs, zero ratings, $399.99 per item: Gleamy isn't an app, it's one station on an assembly line
What it is An Android AI portrait app: upload a selfie to generate photoshoots, make group photos with celebrities and chat with "celebrity boyfriend" characters, paid with credits, with the most expensive item at $399.99.
Why it took off It hasn't really taken off: the 34k installs are a step pulled up by several rounds of paid ads, with zero ratings and zero reviews. It makes money because it sells celebrity group photos and body-reshaping edits that big-brand AI won't do, and a small group of people will pay tens to hundreds of dollars at once.
CHow you could follow it Don't copy its borderline content; copy its distribution. Split one AI portrait template into several brands, pick a clean niche with high willingness to pay (wedding photos, professional headshots, holiday outfits), test creatives with paid ads, and charge with one-time credits.

Gleamy is an AI portrait app on Google Play with 17+ installs: selfies turned into photoshoots, chats with "celebrity boyfriends", and photo outfit and body edits. It's climbing the Art & Design top grossing charts and looks like a small hit in the making. Dig one layer deeper and it shares code, copy and a price list with at least five or six apps under different names and developers. What's actually running is the assembly line, not Gleamy. Below: what it sells, where the traffic comes from, and whether this playbook is worth learning.
A general-knowledge quiz account put out a "celebrity boyfriend" app
In 2026 Jul 27, a Google Play developer account called "Jackiasinh" published Gleamy-Design Visual World. The other apps under that account are "Biology Question Practice", "Science MCQ Practice" and "Daily GK Quiz Practice", small tools for Indian students drilling general-knowledge questions.
Gleamy's store screenshots are a completely different world. One is called "Virtual Character Chat", with a row of round avatars on top, tabs for For You / Girlfriend / Boyfriend / Anime, and the first character is "Jeon Jungkook — Future Mafia Heir", the second is "Charles Leclerc — F1 Driver" in a Ferrari racing suit, the third is "Daniel — Campus Rival". Another is called "Body and Appearance Transformation": the same girl standing in a wheat field, with face, skin tone and hairstyle swapped, and in the last frame the neckline is noticeably lower. One demo even "swaps" dungarees for a crop top and hot pants.
Rated Mature 17+, "Users Interact, In-App Purchases"; no ads; in-app purchases from $9.99 to $399.99 per item (Play listing, 11-06). It has not had a single update since launch, and it's still at 1.0.1.
The same account earlier had Nomie-Personal Portrait Magic, which a third-party site logged at over 50k downloads. 11-06 When I opened its Play page again, it returned 404: it's gone. Gleamy looks more like the replacement the same account put up.
How its numbers grew: step by step
| Date | Total installs | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| 07-27 | 0 | Launched |
| 08-29 | About 5,000 | First month |
| 09-15 | About 13k | 09-14 and 15 two days up about 2,400 |
| 10-09 | About 29.7k | 10-08 and 09 two days up about 6,200, the biggest jump |
| 10-13 ~ 11-02 | 30.3k → 32.1k | Back down to around a hundred a day, with several days at 0 |
| 11-06 | 34,235 | 11-03 +581,11-05 +310,11-06 +1,229 |
(Google Play installs; before the end of October, third-party estimates)
Normally a hundred or two hundred a day, then every week or two it suddenly brings in a few thousand over two or three days, then falls back fast. That doesn't look like word of mouth or store search. It looks more like ads switched on and off again and again (inference). 34k installs, and to this day the store shows zero ratings and zero reviews.
The charts look busy: 11-06 it ranks #91 to #105 on the Art & Design top grossing chart in more than a dozen storefronts including Hong Kong, India, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Mexico, and on the same day the storefronts differ by only a few spots. That tidiness suggests these small storefronts draw from the same aggregated chart, not that people in a dozen countries are each paying for it. The category's #91 spot is also low-bar, with apps like Sketchbook and Hicut right around it. The only thing you can read from this is that people are paying, and paying quite a bit, though exactly how much can't be calculated.
Its siblings: the same product under at least six names
Searching Play for the same description opening ("X is a creative visual storytelling app designed for users who love personalizing…", with only the name swapped) and the same price tier turned up these:
| App | Play developer name | Launched | Installs (11-06) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lovmie - Personalize Your Moment | ProVAPE | 05-28 | 89k |
| Aurame - Create Your Moments | Dataway Team | 07-11 | 91k |
| Lumine - Craft Dream Moments | UniqueMobiApps | 07-24 | 21k |
| Gleamy | Jackiasinh | 07-27 | 34k |
| AvatarMe - AI Photo & Video | BSR Academy | 08-16 | 36k |
| Honely - Create Your Vision | — | — | — |
| Nomie (delisted) | Jackiasinh | — | Third-party logged 50k+ |
What ties them together isn't just the copy:
- The same price list: "$9.99 - $399.99 per item". Only 9 apps on Play that I could find list this tier; the other 4 are unrelated older apps like Jobber (Play listings, 11-06).
- The same Cloudflare account: gleamyy.com, aurame.net, avatarsme.com, lovmie.app, shelumine.com and honelyai.com, the domains hosting the privacy policies, all resolve to the same pair of nameservers (gina / chance.ns.cloudflare.com), all registered through Amazon's registrar, with registrations clustered from Jul 1 to Aug 5 (public domain records, checked 11-06).
- The developer accounts look bought: the Indian general-knowledge accounts, a BSR Academy whose email says "preparing for exams" in Hindi, a ProVAPE with an e-cigarette-sounding name, a Dataway Team with a Nigerian-style email, all on gmail.
- Moving up together: from 10-29 to 11-06, Aurame climbed the top grossing chart 113→71, Gleamy 140→91, Lumine 175→141, AvatarMe 81→66, all rising the same week, which looks like the operator adding spend or changing prices all at once (inference).
Together the five have around 270k installs. The earliest, Lovmie, has mostly stopped (in the last 7 days +20). Aurame hit 50k two weeks after launch and then slowed, and new ones keep coming: one account pushes a wave, then swaps in the next.
Where users come from: I couldn't find a single person who found it on their own
- Paid acquisition (inference, I didn't directly see the ads): a step-shaped install curve, zero ratings and zero reviews; from 11-04 it appeared at once on the free charts in the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and South Korea, looking like several countries being scaled up together.
- TikTok, X, media: none. Searching TikTok for "gleamy app", "aurame app", "lovmie app" returns only same-named unrelated products (skincare, Glam AI). On X there's not a single discussion of these names in the last four months. The only hits are auto-scraping store sites like APKPure and AppBrain.
- Store search: almost nothing. Gleamy, Aurame and Lovmie are coined words nobody searches for.
The multi-account matrix isn't an acquisition channel, it's risk insurance: 17+ borderline content can be rejected or taken down at any time, as Nomie showed. Spreading it across a pile of bought accounts means losing one doesn't hurt the rest.
Where the money comes from: the part big brands won't touch
Gemini, ChatGPT and Meta AI can all generate portraits and change outfits, but when it comes to real celebrities, body reshaping or pushing toward sexualized edits, they mostly refuse. Small apps like Gleamy sell exactly that gap: "group photos" with idols, romance with "Jeon Jungkook" characters, outfit swaps on your own photos.
Pricing is consumable credits starting at $9.99, up to $399.99 per item, with no ads. The target isn't most users, it's the small group willing to pay tens to hundreds of dollars at once. One template is built once and published six or seven times, so the cost per app is low, and bought traffic pays back on high ticket sizes (inference).
Who it's competing with
| Competitors | Scale (Google Play) | How Gleamy differs |
|---|---|---|
| Character AI | 70.7M installs | Pure chat, a huge roster of characters, no selfie-to-image generation |
| Talkie / PolyBuzz | 60.8M / 57.9M | The AI companion chat market, subscription-based, branded |
| Glam AI | 6.23M | Also selfie-to-portrait, but driven by TikTok creators and known brands, no borderline content |
| Framly / Vividix / Artify | 4.71M / 2.31M / 3.85M | 2026 launched 5–July, bought heavily to push into the free charts, low price (from $0.49), high volume |
| Blushy - Face Swap, AI Tool&Talk | 454k | Nearly the same recipe (face swap + AI chat, borderline content), and each individual app is an order of magnitude bigger than Gleamy |
This space isn't empty at all. Gleamy has no product differentiation of its own; it even shares its sibling apps' copy word for word.
If it were you
C: You can learn a distribution playbook here, but copying it isn't worth it.
It never really took off: 34k installs, zero ratings, revenue can't be calculated. It can exist and probably breaks even because of a whole package: "borderline-suggestive templates + rotated purchased developer accounts + high-priced credits + paid acquisition." Every link in that chain has been done bigger by someone else (Blushy at 450k, Framly at millions).
Who it's for: teams that already run paid user acquisition on Google Play, have ready-made AI image templates, and want to split a high-paying niche (a certain portrait style, a holiday scene) into several brands to test creatives. Learn the approach of "one codebase, several names, one price table, test creatives separately"; don't copy its content.
Who it's not for: anyone who hasn't run Google App or Meta ads and is counting on organic traffic (these apps have no organic traffic at all); anyone who wants a long-term brand (no ratings, no retention, can be pulled at any time); anyone unwilling to touch real celebrity likenesses and sexualized content. That's exactly where its money comes from, and it's exactly what Google reviews most closely. Nomie has already been 404.
How to do it: if you must enter this category, skip its borderline part and build the clean adjacent piece: AI portraits for one specific audience (wedding, graduation, professional headshots, a particular country's holiday outfits), one template per brand, one-time credits at $4.99–19.99, tested in one or two countries first.
How to acquire users: paid ads are the only path known to work. Test several creative sets at once under different brand names and screenshots, and only scale the ones where cost per paying user comes in under the first purchase amount (inferred). Publishing multiple brands normally from your own developer account is enough. Rotating purchased accounts saves review risk but buys you no ratings, no retention, and the risk that the whole batch disappears at once.
Timing: no rush. This isn't a window-type opportunity. But platform review of AI-generated real-person content will most likely only get stricter (inferred), so the later you go the borderline route, the harder it gets.
Signs you've misread it: (1) Gleamy or its sibling apps build thousands of ratings and retention before the end of 2026, meaning it's not just paid acquisition breaking even; the product itself has real demand. (2) An app in the matrix climbs past 500k installs and isn't pulled, meaning the borderline route is more stable than it looks. (3) The reverse: if Gleamy, Aurame and the rest get 404 one after another before year-end, then it isn't even a playbook worth learning.

One line
Gleamy is an Android AI portrait app: upload a selfie to generate a "character avatar," single or double portraits (posed with celebrities and idols), outfit and body changes, and photo-to-short-video, plus "virtual character chat" (the screenshots show "boyfriend / girlfriend" personas based on real celebrities like Jeon Jungkook and Charles Leclerc). Play rates it Mature 17+, no ads, in-app purchases $9.99–$399.99.
It didn't take off on its own; it's one node in an app matrix. The same operator uses the same templates, the same descriptions and the same in-app price tiers, published in bulk under at least 5–7 unrelated "borrowed" developer accounts (Lovmie, Aurame, Lumine, Gleamy, AvatarMe, Honely, plus the delisted Nomie). Gleamy's 34k installs came in step-like pulses, with no organic spread anywhere online; the most likely source is paid acquisition. Revenue comes from a small number of users buying high-priced credits (celebrity boyfriend chat, borderline outfit and body changes).
1. Who they are
- Play listing details: developer "Jackiasinh", contact email [email protected], no website; privacy policy hosted at privacy.gleamyy.com; version 1.0.1,2026-07-27 has not been updated since launch; rated Mature 17+ ("Users Interact, In-App Purchases"); no ads googleplay library app / app_snap;[Play page].
- The developer account itself is suspicious: Jackiasinh's other apps are Indian general-knowledge quiz apps like "Biology Question Practice," "Science MCQ Practice," "Daily GK Quiz Practice," and "GK and IQ Learning Quiz" [Play developer page play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Jackiasinh]. A general-knowledge quiz account that suddenly publishes a 17+ AI portrait app is typical of a bought or rented old account.
- The same account earlier had Nomie-Personal Portrait Magic (com.changface.nomieapp.app, AppBrain records 50k+ downloads, developer Jackiasinh) [appbrain.com, apkpure search results]. The Play listing now returns 404 (2026-11-06 read), meaning it has been unpublished or pulled. Gleamy can be seen as the "backup" on the same account.
- Features (Play description + screenshots): Custom Character Material (upload photos to generate portraits in multiple styles), Virtual Character Chat (tagged Girlfriend / Boyfriend / Anime, with real celebrities as avatars), Single and Dual-Person Image Generation (group photos with others), Video Generation (photo to video), Body and Appearance Transformation (change clothes, reshape body, change skin tone and hair). The privacy policy requires users to be 18+ and claims uploads are deleted within 72 hours.
2. Growth data (googleplay library; before 10-29 figures are AppstoreSpy estimates)
| Date | Total installs | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 07-27 | 0 | Launched |
| 08-29 | 5,020 | About 5k in the first month |
| 09-15 | 12,978 | 09-14/15 2 days ≈ +2.4k |
| 10-04 | 23,456 | |
| 10-09 | 29,669 | 10-08/09 two days, about +6.2k (biggest single spike) |
| 10-13 ~ 11-02 | 30,279 → 32,115 | Back to about ~100 a day |
| 11-03 | 32,696 | +581 |
| 11-05 | 33,006 | +310 |
| 11-06 | 34,235 | +1,229 |
- +2,203 in the last 7 days. The rating count has always been blank (Play doesn't display it), and there are no review samples [googleplay library app_profile / review].
- The curve is stepped: normally a couple hundred a day, then every week or two a two-to-three-day pulse of several thousand installs, then a quick drop back. That isn't the shape of word-of-mouth or store search; it looks like paid campaigns switched on and off repeatedly.
- Charts: since 10-29 it has held ranks 136–161 on the ART_AND_DESIGN Top Grossing chart in 17 stores, then climbed to ranks 91–105 in 11-06; from 11-04 it began appearing on the Top Free charts (my 99, gb 129, es 139, ar 146, it/kr 155, de 187) [chart_rank]. Rankings across the 17 stores are almost identical (only a few places apart on the same day), which suggests these small stores draw on one shared aggregated chart, not that 17 countries each have their own paying users. The bar to reach #91 on the ART_AND_DESIGN Top Grossing chart is low (neighbors include Sketchbook, Hicut and similar apps).
3. The matrix: sibling apps from the same operator
Found 5 in the googleplay library by matching description templates, in-app price tiers and privacy policy domains (publishing from 2026-03 onward, in art/photo/entertainment categories; the 1,628 privacy policy domains were checked one by one via NS, and these 5 are the matches):
| App | Bundle ID | Play developer name | Launched | Installs (11-06) | Best Top Grossing rank (10-29 → 11-06) | Privacy domain (registration date) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lovmie-Personalize Your Moment | com.lovmie.dreammaking.aimagic | ProVAPE | 05-28 | 88,638 | 189 → 184 | lovmie.app |
| Aurame - Create Your Moments | com.aurame.superai.androidapp | Dataway Team | 07-11 | 90,738 | 113 → 71 | aurame.net(07-01) |
| Lumine - Craft Dream Moments | com.lumine.aiapp.studio | UniqueMobiApps | 07-24 | 21,025 | 175 → 141 | shelumine.com(07-02) |
| Gleamy | com.gleamy.photoeditor.artmaker | Jackiasinh | 07-27 | 34,235 | 140 → 91 | gleamyy.com(07-14) |
| AvatarMe - AI Photo & Video | com.avatarapps.faceai.swapsult | BSR Academy | 08-16 | 36,017 | 81 → 66 | avatarsme.com(08-05) |
Outside the library: Honely - Create Your Vision (com.honelyai.arttools.faceplay, domain honelyai.com with the same NS), and the delisted Nomie (under the same Jackiasinh account).
Evidence tying them together:
- Same Cloudflare account: the NS records for aurame.net, avatarsme.com, gleamyy.com, lovmie.app, shelumine.com and honelyai.com are all
gina.ns.cloudflare.com+chance.ns.cloudflare.com. Cloudflare assigns NS pairs per account, and among the 1,628 domains checked, only these use this pair [dig, 2026-11-06]. - Same registrar: all registered at Amazon Registrar (Route 53), with registration dates clustered between 2026-07-01 and 08-05 [rdap.org].
- Same copy: "X is a creative visual storytelling app designed for users who love personalizing…", with only the name swapped [googleplay library app.description].
- Same price table: in-app purchases are all "$9.99 - $399.99 per item." Only 9 apps on Play across the whole library use this tier; the other 4 are unrelated older apps like Jobber [app_snap 11-06].
- Developer names are unrelated and look borrowed: Jackiasinh (Indian general-knowledge quizzes), BSR Academy (email bsr.academy.taiyarikarlo@, where "taiyari karlo" is Hindi for "exam prep"), ProVAPE (email weare.provape2021@), Dataway Team (dataway.ng@), UniqueMobiApps, all on gmail.
- Top Grossing ranks rose in sync: from 10-29 to 11-06, Aurame went 113→71, Gleamy 140→91, Lumine 175→141, AvatarMe 81→66, all moving up the same week. That looks like a coordinated move at the operator level (more spend or a price change), not word of mouth for individual apps.
The matrix totals about 270k installs (5 apps in the library). The earliest, Lovmie, has largely stalled (+20 in the last 7 days), Aurame hit 50k in its first two weeks then slowed, and new nodes keep following: the classic "one account pushes a wave, then swap in the next account" rotation.
4. Competitors
| Competitors | Where | Launched | Scale | How Gleamy differs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Character AI | Android / iOS / web | 2023-05(Play) | Play 70.7M installs | Pure chat, a huge range of characters, and no "generate your own image from a selfie." |
| Talkie / PolyBuzz | Android/iOS | 2023-06 | Play 60.8M / 57.9M | AI character chat is a big subscription market; Gleamy just bolts "celebrity boyfriend chat" on as a side feature |
| Glam AI | Android / iOS / web | 2024-02 | Play 6.23M | Selfie → template photos/videos, pushed through TikTok creators (e.g., Victoria's Secret angel templates, lots of October videos); brands are openly advertised, proper paid acquisition |
| Framly / Vividix / Artify | Android | 2026-05~07 | 4.71M / 2.31M / 3.85M | Same-period Vietnamese/Singaporean AI photo and video tools that bought heavy traffic to hit the free charts, priced $0.49–$139.99 |
| Blushy-Face Swap, AI Tool&Talk | Android | 2025-12 | 454k | Nearly the same formula: face swap + AI chat, borderline explicit; a single app with an order of magnitude more scale than Gleamy |
| Big-company features | Gemini / ChatGPT image tools, Meta AI | — | — | They can all generate portraits and outfit swaps, but they have strict limits on real celebrities, body changes, and sexualized output. That gap is exactly what these small apps exploit |
5. Where users come from
- Paid acquisition (most likely, not directly confirmed): stepped pulses, 0 ratings, 0 reviews, no organic content at all. From 11-04 they appeared on the free charts in English, German, Spanish, Italian, and Korean at once, which suggests multi-country buying. Our Meta / TikTok / Google ad libraries don't track these apps (not finding them doesn't mean they didn't run ads).
- TikTok / X / press: none. TikHub searches for "gleamy app", "gleamy ai", "aurame app", and "lovmie app" only return unrelated products with the same names (Glemi skincare, Glam AI, Auramour, etc.). x-radar shows 0 mentions each of "gleamy", "aurame", and "lovmie" over the last 120 days.
- Store search / recommendations: the names are made-up words (Gleamy, Aurame, Lovmie), so nobody searches for them. They may pick up a little traffic from "AI photo" or "AI boyfriend" recommendation slots, but this can't be verified.
- Matrix and account rotation: not an acquisition channel but a risk hedge. 17+ explicit-leaning content is easily rejected or removed (Nomie has already been 404). Spreading it across several purchased accounts means one takedown doesn't hit the others.
6. Why it makes money (at this scale)
- It sells what big companies won't allow: photos with celebrities and idols, chatting with a celebrity boyfriend or girlfriend, outfit and body swaps. People in this market will pay tens to hundreds of dollars at once, so 30k installs is enough to land in the top 100 of the (aggregated) Photo & Video chart.
- Pricing is consumable credits starting at $9.99 and going up to $399.99. There are no ads, and the goal is a small number of whales.
- One template gets shipped across many listings, so the cost per app is very low. Paid acquisition is recouped through high ticket sizes.
7. Differentiation
Taken alone, Gleamy has no differentiation: features, copy, and pricing match its sibling apps word for word, and they're much the same as Blushy and various AI portrait apps. The real difference is in distribution: one borderline AI portrait template + rotation across several borrowed developer accounts + high-priced credits + paid acquisition. This isn't why it "took off". It's how it manages to exist and pay for itself. And it hasn't really taken off either: 34k installs, no ratings.
8. Visibility and copycats
- No one has publicly reported revenue, and no press outlet or X account has written about it. The only web footprint is auto-scraped pages on APKPure, AppBrain, Apptopia, and Softonic. It's in the "nobody knows about it yet" category.
- Copycats: the matrix is itself self-replicating (at least 6–7 clones). There are also plenty of outside products with the same formula (Blushy, various AI outfit/photo apps), so the niche is not empty.
9. What others can learn
- One template split across multiple brands and developer accounts spreads review risk, and it also lets them test different names and screenshots.
- Privacy policies are hosted on separate domains and subdomains, all managed from one place. But this also makes the matrix easy to trace back (a single NS lookup reveals it).
- High-priced credits, no ads, and borderline demand mean a small number of installs can pay back. The cost is that Google can remove the app at any time (Nomie is the precedent), and it's hard to build a brand or retention.
10. Still unclear
- Channels and spend: there's no direct ad-library evidence (these apps aren't on the tracked list), so it's unknown whether they use Google App Campaigns or Meta.
- Who runs it: no company entity was found. Domain registration is hidden, and the developer accounts are borrowed. The account sources (email styles from India and Nigeria) only show that accounts were bought. They don't reveal where the operating team is.
- Actual revenue: the Photo & Video chart is an aggregate across multiple storefronts with a low bar, so revenue can't be calculated from it.
- Unclear whether Nomie was voluntarily pulled or penalized by Google.
